Sans Façon in Gatineau

The truffle spaghetti is VERY DISAPPOINTING. Very few truffles and on top of that, the parmesan steals the taste. Its extremely expensive for spaghetti with parmesan. On the other hand, the churros are Exceptional!

Appetizing menu, but the taste was not there. Onion soups too salty. $48 for a plate of risotto with two shrimp and a scallop. Taste of saffron and parmesan, completely invaded by cayenne pepper. The $36 gourmet burger was tasteless with the dry meatball. Even the melted gruyere was dry. I even had to order a fries because the Burger was the only one on the site.

Vraiment pas le cas, la sauce versée dessus est bien bonne, mais cest principalement une grosse boulette qui ne goutte pas grand chose. Les cocktails (tirés du menu) ne sont pas mieux exécutés. Les churros comme dessert étaient de loin les meilleures bouchées de la soirée.

The food here was amazing!

Very nice place, the drinks are excellent, the food tasty and the prices affordable. The place is cozy, we ordered a risotto, a grilled romaine, Alla Vongole pasta, fresh oysters and an Elk tartare, everything was delicious. To finish, the must at SF is the seafood risotto and the least are the pieces of wild boar which accompanies the Romaine which is frankly too fatty but in general the experience was very appreciated!!

It s always a pleasure to go and eat there, I love eating directly at the bar with a friend. The bartender (no idea what his name is even though Ive been there several times) has 5-star service, hes been doing that for a long time and it shows in his customer service. He is attentive & listens to customers. This type of restaurant/lounge bar with a relaxed & comforting atmosphere is rare now. A 5 star is not enough for this restaurant. An 8 star would be. My second time here! First time trying the food! While I think the food is expensive, it is definitely worth it! The dishes that have smaller portions are PACKED with flavour and are very nice on the palate. Particularly the tuna crudo is excellent! The beverage selection is extensive, particularly the wine selection! I m a beer guy, and they have great options for craft beer, which is very nice to see from a place like this! The decor and atmosphere in this place is fantastic, on the inside atleast. Their patio has a lot of potential but it falls short on the atmosphere compared to the inside of the restaurant. Both times I came here I was impressed by the fantastic service and the care in which the experience is presented! Today Jeremy was our waiter and he did a fantastic job, and I really felt that he was enthusiastic of our visit. Enthusiastic serving staff is always a great sign, and this place is no exception during both of my visits. I will definitely be back in the future to try other menu items, and to leave another review with pictures! Very nice concept, Excellent service, we ate the fish of the day which was really excellent. The only thing less perfect but that was in no way the restaurants fault. The air conditioning was broken and we were in the middle of a heatwave. I will not hesitate to return there on my next visit

Interesting spot great cocktails (including non alcoholic options the watermelon version was surprisingly delish!) we just got a couple of sides to nibble on instead of mains but they were also high quality my sis loved the shrimp, and we all really enjoyed the fries with truffle dip along with our drinks vibe is relaxed hip we might have been on the outside margins of the coolness levels of this place but still felt comfy! Our server was great. As a small heads up, some of the plush furniture is not very useable so try out the seats before you land in a spot also not sure why they have VLTs in the back, feels like a strange choice but to each their own! Overall, a nice local spot will definitely be back!

It was a very nice experience, it offers a nice selection of tasty and varied dishes all at reasonable prices. The beef scoter was delicious and the burrata was divine. I liked the decor and the music wasnt too loud so it was nice and easy to follow our discussions during dinner.

On December 29, three friends and I chose the restaurant Sans Façon, a bar and grill restaurant, for our Christmas dinner. As soon as we arrived, the festive atmosphere and warm welcome created the ideal setting for a girls night out. However, what made our experience truly exceptional was our waitress, Émilie. Émilie proved to be the cornerstone of our evening. His attentive presence and impeccable timing elevated every moment of our meal. She was able to guide us with several insightful recommendations, showing extensive knowledge of the menu and our individual preferences. It was my first visit, and thanks to Émilie, it was a memorable introduction. Following his suggestion, I opted for the Gisèle cocktail. Having asked for something a little sweet, I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and balance of this unique beverage. The blend of aloe juice, lime, egg white, cucumber, mint and jalapeños created a refreshing taste experience, all at a very reasonable price of $13. The tuna sushi cups marked the start of my feast. The ingredients were remarkably fresh, creating an explosion of flavors in every bite. As a main course I chose the mushroom risotto. It was perfectly well prepared, very tasty and a generous quantity. One of my friends had the same thing and she wasnt able to finish it, but I was We continued our evening by sharing a bottle of white wine and a selection of three divine desserts. The dessert tasting was the icing on the cake of an already memorable experience that turned out to be a true gastronomic experience. All for a bill that comes to $100 taxes included before tip, which is really reasonable for everything I ordered. Émilie clearly made all the difference. Her passion for customer service and professionalism transformed a simple evening into an unforgettable moment. If I had to come back, it would definitely be at a table with Émilie. I highly recommend Sans Façon for a delicious, memorable and flavor-rich evening. Im already looking forward to my next visit. A very well deserved 5 star!

Its simple, I loved everything. The seafood is fresh and delicious, the elk tartare also, excellent selection of wines and cocktails. Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options: soup, beetroot tartare, wild mushroom risotto... Parking: Parking on Saint-Joseph, next to the building.

We went out for a group dinner and it was disappointing. The music is very loud, you need to yell to hear each other. The service was very slow and not very responsive. We ordered some drinks and apps. The beer was not very cold and the ceaser is sweet. The seafood tower for 155$ was not worth the money. Everything took forever to get. It was about 1hr and 30min from the app to dinner items that came out cold or over cooked. Very disappointed in the food and then we were told the chef quit. We returned 75% of the dinner plates and they gave us some bread and fries (we requested) because we were starving after 3 hours. They only charged for the towers and everything else was on the house, but I would have preferred to eat and pay. In the end I would probably not return. The price and the value just seems, its not worth it. There are some places on Preston street that have more value for the money for the same menu options.

Totally didnt expect this being from Montreal and thinking everything in Gatineau is boring but I was wrong! Service was amazing, the vibes were sooo there and yeah the food was beautiful and delicious (just look at those pics) We left before the music got louder and the bottles started popping because we had other engagements to attend but I wouldve loved to have stayed longer at this Sunday lunch! Only thing you should know is that it can get very expensive if youre not careful but I didnt mind...this place can take my money again lol Reserve now because its hard to get a table especially for their Sunday Brunch! Ill be 100% back...sooner than later!

Absolutely impeccable food, truly perfect service. Its beautiful, its really good. Its noisy. You have to like eating in an atmosphere of loud music. If you have a hearing problem this is NOT the place for you. But if you like ambiance and eclectic interiors, its a beautiful, trendy place with good food! On Friday and Saturday the restaurant transforms into a club! Experience to live for those interested. What fascinates me every time is seeing the eclectic clientele: all ages, genders, looks in this atmosphere its impressive!

The Sans Façon restaurant in Gatineau is an incomparable culinary experience. The staff, courteous and professional, offers a service that easily surpasses the average in the region. The Old Fashioned cocktails (my favorites) are fantastic and stand out from all the others in the National Capital Region. The menu offers a variety of delights such as lobster linguini, steak and fries, tartare, burrata and grilled romaine. Each dish, prepared with passion, reflects true mastery of cuisine. I love and highly recommend Sans Façon.

A must in Gatineau

The elk tartare (starter portion) is tasty! As good as it is beautiful! I wish it was also in a meal portion but it wasnt. I had a side salad and it was delicious (raspberry sauce I think). The server was friendly. The menu is only available online. There is parking right next door reserved for the restaurant. I liked that there were real candles on the table. The decor is current. Everyone who was with me was satisfied with their meal. The only slight disappointment depending on the price paid is that the burger does not come with fries or any other accompaniment.

We went out to celebrate my sons birthday at Sans Façon last night, October 7. My daughter and I are regulars but not him. So the waiter tells him about the menu, my daughter takes her favorite Surf & Turf and I take the Seafood Risotto. With Jays advice, my son chooses the rack of deer with the four pieces. What a surprise to see only two pieces arrive on the plate placed on the side of a large empty plate. There is really no support worthy of the name. Its the most expensive dish on the menu excluding those to share, but its the smallest portion of everything but you dont think to tell the customers that? Or say there are no accompaniments on the plate? Seriously? And you are serving this dish to a young adult of 6 180 lbs growing? You should know that this is illogical. I saw the plate arrived and called the waiter over to ask where the side dish and other pieces were. Height of surprise at the table opposite, out of the 4 people, two of the gentlemen had ordered the same thing and after receiving their rack of venison and finished in less than 5 minutes obviously plus it wasnt even hot, like the Surf & my daughters Turf, ordered some side vegetables, broccoli I think, because it obviously wasnt enough of a meal. Its honestly embarrassing to serve this dish at this price on an empty plate. My Seafood Risotto was much too watery, lacking in consistency and not as spicy and tasty as usual. But the worst is yet to come. 3am I wake up with night sweats. Heartache, my stomach is in knots. Food poisoning. I couldnt sleep all night with an upset stomach and a headache, Ive been sick for hours. When the children got up they came to see me and they were okay so it was because of the Risotto. This must be the 7-8th time Ive come to Sans Façon with my daughter or with dates, but after yesterdays evening I had the impression of being laughed at. And feeling sick as now clearly there was contamination of my dish to make me sick like this.

I had high expectations, as my friends often told me about the restaurant. Honestly, the food is okay, but for the price I was disappointed. It s super expensive and I tried several dishes that I found ordinary. Honestly, its not worth the price. The service was also ordinary. We felt rushed to leave, even though there was still time left for closing. For sitting down and eating I wouldnt necessarily recommend the restaurant because of the price compared to the value. Ill give it 50%, I wasnt really impressed by the experience.

Beautiful trendy restaurant with a very relaxed but buzzy atmosphere. It is both moody and charming and boasts a metropolitan vibe. The service was excellent! The staff was polite, friendly and very quick. The food was very tasty, especially the crème brulée (highly recommend, it was unbelievable) but a bit on the pricier side for such modest portions. It would be nice if they offered a complimentary starter, like bread for the table, which would allow guests to relax a bit prior to the start of the meal. Apart from that, a really wonderful experience and I will be sure to go back!

Quite possibly the best seafood Ive ever eaten. You must treat yourself to the seafood tower! It comes with multiple tiers, our bottom layer was on ice with crab legs, shrimp cocktail, oysters, and octopus ceviche, and the top layer had beautiful lobster tails, cooked shrimp, piled on top of a mountain of clams and mussels in a bath of the most luxurious broth. This was a quiet, trendy spot with a real cozy vibe to it. Wait staff was excellent and handled all of our needs with great care. Thank you so much for the amazing experience!

We went on a Sunday night, it was not super busy (we reserved on the phone). We were four, we started with the seafood tower for two. It was enough for 3.I had the Surf and Turf + Arancini. Its on the pricier end, but everything was cooked to perfection. Service was great. i would return.

Wow! Discovered this little treasure by pure chance. The grandmothers cocktails concocted by the house, the truffle fries, the fish, the pasta, the service! Its worth the detour.

Most : -Beautiful decor -Varied menu -The food really tastes great (sauce-meat-vegetables) -The waiter (Jeremy) was very attentive: I ordered a gin and tonic without ice, he figured that I really liked the taste of gin and made my gin and tonic with Hendricks and not their first price gin. He came back to our table 3-4 times to serve us wine in our glasses. -The portions are perfect -Good music The lessers : - slightly loud music - toilets dont smell very good - Good-looking clients, I felt like I was a double occupancy boss (ok, that s not really a minus ) Verdict: I will go back!!! Filet mignon was cooked as requested and was tasty. The twice baked potato that it came with lacked finess - might want to explore different side options. The seafood risotto was good but again lacked finesse. Overall a little pricey but the quality of seafood was good. Caters to a younger crowd, the music was good but a little on the loud side for my old ears. Made it hard to carry on/follow a conversation. Decor /atmosphere was good.

One of my favourite places in Gatineau! The atmosphere and service are excellent and food is supreme. A tad expensive but you get the quality that you re paying for. The seafood risotto is out of this world, so that d be my top recommendation. The grilled romaine is also good (and less expensive). Cocktails are a must!

Good service, good food, high end side and interesting layout. Huge place, but you dont feel it. Its not noisy and pleasant. Expect to pay more for this area - simply because it is of higher quality. The menu was only up to date online and we were with several people and having to take out our cell phones is a shame as it breaks the vibe...but thats the reality these days. The drinks and wine menu is big compared to the food - Im sure that over the years (Im confident that it will survive especially with the renovations on St-Joseph) their menu will be more creative and interesting.

Amazing experience. Delicious food, friends and I loved the arancini, seafood risotto, scallops, tuna crudo, fries and salad. Terrific service from Sam at the bar, who was friendly and very knowledgeable. The Marguerite cocktail was perfect. Prices are fair for the quality and quantity you get. I will definitely return.

Sans Façon has become a mainstay for my friends and I. I believe it may be one of the best restaurants in thr Gatineau/Ottawa region. We consistently order the Romaine Salad with the most lovely pork belly. The oysters are fresh, and I love the arancini. The highlight though is the Truffle Pasta. It is PERFECTLY eldente and rich. As an Italian, I rarely eat pasta from a restaurant, but this is exceptional and I would (and have) recommend it to anyone. The service has ALWAYS been consistent and friendly. As an anglophone, I appreciate their attentiveness and professionalism. Bravo!

Great vibes and beautiful set up. The margaritas were okay, the ceaser was a little above average but we had a wonderful experience as our server was wonderful and the vibe of the place were great! Would totally go back there, but maybe try something else!

The seafood risotto was excellent with a tangy touch. The restaurant was quiet this Sunday.
