I would not say it is the best indian food and i have tried a lot. Naan bread feels more like commercial instead of homemade. Didnt enjoy the beef at all, it was beef meatballs?? Also, looks like they use very cheap beef (low quality ground beef). Butter chicken is really oily compare to what i have tasted in other indian restaurants. Unfortunately, i do not recommand.

First South Asian, Pakistani/Indian restaurant in the Outaouais region, about freaking time! I had the chicken biryani, butter chicken, Dhaal and pakoras for takeout. The girlfriend and I disagreed which one was best, she though Dhaal, I thought butter chicken, was dipping the pakoras in it hmmm. The only thing we could agree on is the chicken biryani is amazing and Pakoras are addictive! The owner gave us extra pakoras, huge ones too, says he grinds his own spices daily! Place smells great too so I asked if they make masala teas, yes sir! But I had already ordered and paid... Next time! The Achor Gosht is always a solid choice full of flavor and just the right amount of spice. The Vindaloo this is the real deal. It s seriously the hottest thing I ve ever had. I m not kidding when I say I had to mix it with two other curries just to bring it down to a spice level I could handle. This one is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Usually, in Canada, Vindaloo is tourist spicy but not here. La Nawab doesn t mess around.The Chicken Tikka is another standout tender, flavorful, and always cooked perfectly. And if you re looking for something sweet to finish off your meal, the Kheer is delicious, though a bit on the pricey side. But honestly, with the quality La Nawab delivers, it s worth it. The rest of the menu is appropriately priced, especially considering the top-notch quality. You can really taste the difference the owner grinds his own spices daily, and it shows.If you re in the mood for some seriously good Indian-Pakistani food, La Nawab is where it s at. Whether you re dining in or ordering delivery, you re in for a treat.

Truly the worst Indian restaurant I have ever tasted in my life. The paneer was burnt. The naan bread comes from Maxi. The saag was to vomit. Rice dry and with no taste. Truly one of the worst experiences.

I can only rate the food because I ordered it delivery. I was kind of homesick and it was only Indian option close by. The food is ok. It lacks the depth of flavour I love about Indian food. Just spice. It s like eating at your least favourite Aunties place. The balance is just not there. The food Really needed salt. Will agree with the reviews that said the naans seem store bought, and then thrown on a tava, which is fine,but 3.50 for one, is kind of robbery when other restaurants on the other side of the river make theirs from scratch for the same Price. They packaged the raita between hot dishes, so it was kind of bleh when it got here. The mango drink tastes like mango pulp mixture, styler thick and syrupy. I won t say it s bad because the description is so vague. But it s not a lassi, that s for sure. The owners seem to not take any criticism about the food well as per their responses to other reviews, so let me just say the food Isn t bad, it s also not spectacular it s merely available in hull, but a trip across the river will give you an infinite amount of better options for the same price.

The pakora is great! The butter chicken is not good unfortunately, it s very watery, feels like they used sauce from a can, you have to make the butter chicken if you re going to charge 20$ plus bucks for it and not use ready made sauce! Unfortunately not authentic

Ordered Chicken curry and Beef Kofta through uber eats. I received some sort of vegetarian biryani instead. Checked to see if the delivery driver gave me the wrong order but it was indeed adressed to me so the mix up was made at the restaurant. Uber eat declined a refund. That mistake just cost me 60$. Will not be ordering from a place that can get a simple order this wrong. Edit : After response from owners, they do not own up to their mistakes as my name was clearly written on the bag. The content of the bag, however, was wrong. The mistake was made at the restaurant since the wrong order was put in the right bag. Will not get back my business

As good or better than any of the Indian places in Ottawa. The atmosphere is not that of a higher-end restaurant but you pay less than half of what you pay in Ottawa for food that is as good or better. Kid-friendliness: Sure

Went a few months ago and totally forgot to write a review. We walked in and were the lone customers in the restaurant. Owners are very friendly and welcoming. Very busy with takeout but still took the time to talk to us about all the different spice and food options. Food was good. Was expecting a bit more meat in their biggest menu item but overall waa great. We got some free samples on the side which made up for it. Good indian cuisine is hard to come by on the gatineau side. Glad theyre located where they are, well be back for sure.

I ordered from this restaurant through uber eats and I want to convey how exceptional and classy the staff was after a delay caused through uber. They called and let me know that they have had my order prepared for a while, and are still waiting for the driver. I appreciate that they took the time to let me know, troubleshoot solutions, and understand why the food might be cold on arrival. Ive always liked the food here, but this level of service was unexpected but appreciated.

I hate to leave a bad review but this was one of the worst Indian meals Ive ever tried. The Naan was clearly store bought. The vindaloo was spicy but really flavorless. The fish pakora was missing so I cant review it. I ordered online so cant comment of service or atmosphere. Edit: forgot to mention the beef was tough and the rice was undercooked. I was really expecting better.

We order often and we are really happy to have an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. Everything is delicious, but special mention to the pakoras, chana masala and a great discovery for me: the Achar Gosht.

Food was decent without being wow. Butter chicken tasted as if it was made with canned tomatoes and lacking spices but the chicken itself seemed fresh. Chilli paneer was really good and rice as well. Overall satisfied I just wish it tasted more authentic and flavourful.

Magnificent discovery in the neighborhood! Finally an Indian restaurant on our side of the river! Despite the service in English, we were charmed by the flavors of the dishes. The butter chicken was delicious and the byriani was very spicy. What can we say about their homemade rice flavored with spices not just plain white rice! We took the takeaway and clearly wouldnt hesitate to do it again.

I discovered this restaurant, the only Indian restaurant in the city of Gatineau, this evening. Just passing by on foot and taking a walk, you are charmed by the scents of spices that emanate from their ventilation. As others have said, the decor is modest, but the welcome is friendly. As for the food, everything is delicious. I really enjoyed the spice mix on the pakoras, much tastier than those Ive had elsewhere. The saag paneer has a nice texture. The rice is cooked to perfection and is even sprinkled with saffron! I only have two things to criticize about The Nawab: 1) Unfortunately the service is in English only. 2) I ordered chicken 65 (which should be pieces of chicken fried with spices and curry leaves), but what we were served was clearly butter chicken, even though the gentleman had it called chicken 65 . It was a really, really delicious butter chicken, but I know what chicken 65 should be and this wasnt it. Damage. That said, it doesnt bother me that much. Im going to go back as I want to try their biryanis which looked very tempting. Parking: Between 5-8. Kid-friendliness: They have a few child seats.

Food was really bad. The naan were frozen or store bought.Even the curry was made out of pasta sauce. Paneer was raw. Water smelled weird. Rice were cold and they served the curry in takeout container.

Super happy to have something else to order in Gatineau other than regular pizza and shawarmas. A bill of $185 (incl. tip and tax) for 4 adults and two children, BUT I had miscalculated and we had enough left over for three dinners the next day. A little expensive, but really very very good.

If you are looking for authentic this is the place! We have eaten authentic Indian when we lived in England and this one I might say is better! Spices are balanced and the meat is cooked perfectly! They do cater to a lot of delivery and take-out so it can take some time to get your meal. That being said bring your bottle of wine ask for papadam and enjoy the music and conversation with your partner or group. It is absolutely worth the wait! If you are looking for an authentic Indian meal this is the place to come! We ate Indian in England and I have to say that this one is perhaps better! The spices are well balanced and the meat cooked to perfection! That said, they do a lot of deliveries and take-out orders so there may be a wait. Bring a good wine, taste papadams while chatting with love or friends. The meal is well worth the wait!

Lamb biryani a big turn off. Meat is bland and has like 0 flavour. Rice taste like curry rice . I am a great fan of biryani , and have been to india and also other places in toronto and Montreal . Lamb biryani has popcorn size lamb chunks here and there and biryani is overrated and overpriced. Not a great first experience.

Taste was ok but nothing standed out. Would be 4 stars if it wasnt that the was barely any meat in the butter chicken. We had two order both were the same with five small cube in each wouldnt mind paying a bit more. Samosas were a bit too spicy too, sause was not sweet. Better alternative are Shaan curry house in Ottawa or Cuisine indienne express in Chelsea. Edit: The order was not kids meal as there is no such option on the online order website.

It has a very nice and kind staff. They explained all the menu for us. They also brought us a free appetizer and that was so generous. And at the end they decided to charge us with the old prices because they found out we are student! The food was so tasty by the way :) I recommend it

This is a place I deeply regret I never tried before. My wife and I went for the first time last night. Even if they were a bit short staffed the food made up for it and then some. Like others have said Im happy that I will be able to have such tasty food on the Quebec side. They also have variations on some of the recipes that intrigue me for the next visit. Everyone knows about Butter Chicken, but they also make it with Beef or Lamb! That is something I had not seen anywhere before, and I intend to try it next time.

Food was delicious, I had the biryani which was tasty spicy but not nosebleed spicy. My buddy had the meat lovers platter but one item had nuts and hes allergic, the waiter (owner ?) didnt make a fuss and brought him a nutless platter before I was done inhaling my meal. Obviously made fresh. Too bad I live outside the delivery zone. As far as atmosphere goes there was Indian music in the background but not distracting. Still better than Doja Cat. Recommend it and will be back.

I went back to the store after calling, and the gentleman that served me made it all right, and was very kind about it all. We came in and it was freezing cold, they told us that they had to open the door because they had either a fire or a smoke problem in the kitchen. The food was delicious but the server wasnt even able to take our order properly and we only ordered two dishes. The tables were dirty as well so Im not sure if the placemats helped at all and sadly you have to go in the back to use the bathroom. Which I wouldnt mind usually as I know how small businesses are but you often go past the workers there and the two times I went there, they looked me up and down and scoffed at me, I know I dress differently but you can respect me if I can respect you.

We got delivery from this place two days ago, and I read great reviews about the food, but I was quite disappointed as the butter chicken tasted like it was just in a tomato sauce, without the spices, and the naan was exactly like the ones I buy at the grocery store. The rice was good though! I m sure their food is usually great, maybe I got a bad batch? Who knows!

I wouldn t necessarily give reviews to restaurants unless something wows me completely. I ve been to good number of indian restaurants not just here in outaouais/Ottawa region but also in Montreal. This is undoubtedly my favourite. The food is authentic and delicious. And the Hospitality, me and gf received last time was just we could ever asked for. We got there just 10 mins prior to the closing and it was drizzling outside. Irrespective of their closing time, the owner offered us an option to dine-in understanding our needs. Not just that, he set up our table with candles and offered us drinks. He also made sure that we didn t need to hustle up considering it was late. And at the end, the food was delicious as ever. My personal favourites would be lamb biryani, achar gosh, chicken biryani and saag. So if you in Outaouais or in Ottawa looking for an authentic Indo-Pak Cuisine, Le newab is strongly recommended.

I wish I could say my experience was great. The food I ordered looked delicious. Unfortunately the Tikka chicken was extremely rubbery. Seemed like it was undercooked. The Saag Paneer was delicious until I saw a hair in my plate (which could not have been mine given the length and I live alone). I also found another hair in my rice (which was in a separate container) which overall ruined my experience. The naan was good and so were the samosas. I will unfortunately not order again due to those main sanitary issues.

Well, I need to do an honest review about this place. My wife ans I are indian food lovers. So for what we had, I dont recommend this place at all. The food is horrible, the service is too slow and the only service for delivery they have took over 2hrs to deliver food not even warm. Very disappointed about this place. Wont buy again. The restaurant is outdated and not clean, do a tour and see it by yourself. Im gonna stick with byward market where I usually buy Indian food where it is far more tasty and fresh for the price. The owner is trying to make it look it is not them, but Courcelette street in Hull is easy to find. Try it yourself you can judge by yourself. Yes it is deliver by skip dishes.

Delicious food, one meal is enough food for two people. The employee serving us was amazing and had good recommandations. We got our dinner 15 minutes after ordering and the prices are amazing.

Simply delicious, I definitely recommend it. And what can I say about the extraordinary service!!! You have just found yourself two regular customers who will come back to us without fail. Thank you for this great discovery.

The server was polite but the service was a bit slow. The glasses we got at the beginning were very dirty and when pointed it out to server, he apologized and brought clean glasses and complementary samosas and bottled water. We ordered another portion of samosas, sweet lassi, chicken biryani and nihari beef with naan bread. The chicken biryani was excellent, and so were the samosas. However, the nihari beef was not as tasteful and was lacking a bit of flavour. Also, there was a piece of clear plastic in the nihari. The server apologized again. I also found a hair in the rice but after so many issues I didnt mention it to the server. So clearly some sanitary issues that I hope are solved because its a very good and affordable restaurant. Very generous portions and good for the price.

Ordered twice using UberEats, was disappointed both times. The portions were good(hence two stars) but the quality was very lacking. The butter chicken sauce, which is generally supposed to be thick and creamy, was watery and barely had any taste. The chicken didnt taste fresh either. I also ordered a Roti along with it, what I received was a small piece of roti/naan hybrid. My first order was a biryani which had an average taste and not so fresh chicken. Very disappointed with the food for the money spent.

My wife is a fan of Indian cuisine, Myself not as much. Untill we ate here. This butter chicken was amazing. Cant forget the chilly paner omg... And the owners were supper friendly even though they were swamped with orders they managed to get food out promptly... They made a fan here...

Tout était délicieux. Nous avons juste décidé darrêter prendre des repas à emporter un dimanche soir. Le monsieur qui nous a servis était très gentil. Les samosas et pankoras sont exceptionnels. Le chana masala (végétarien) et le kofta (non végétarien) étaient excellents. Les prix sont très raisonnables. Nous aurions pu nourrir 4 personnes.

We were delighted with this good local restaurant and arrived before closing for a pick-up order. It was nice of the owner to take us as it was 15 minutes before the restaurant closed. We had butter chicken, beef korma, and kiyma with some pakora, rice, and nan. The sauces were very well done. They were lighter and not overpowering like you get at some places. The meal was bursting with flavour. We will return. A great place.

Chicken Biryani and salt cucumber lassi was very yum. Chicken 65 was not what it was expected.but even with different variation it was tasty. Gulab jamins (forgot to take pic) were soft and very delicious.we were given extra jamin for free:) Owner Mr Ejaz made sure everything is served hot and checked us more than thrice.Very nice gentleman. Excellent services. Keep it up guys

Still under the spell of flavors!!! A small neighborhood restaurant to discover on rue Cholette. The place is very humble and discreet both outside and inside. But when your dishes arrive you will be seduced by the flavors and scents which are just Wow The service was welcoming, professional and the recommendations sound. The Bring Your Own Wine option is very popular. We cant wait to go back!

First time for our family in takeout mode for a group of 8. Surpassed expectations and family run service was greatly charming. Even got a little explanation of the world cricket championship on today, lol. We will be back!

Unfortunately, I hate to say it , but worse Indian food, I had a butter chicken that was watery and too strong a tomato taste, and Aloo Gobi felt like veggies were simply boiled and a sauce was topped over it. Also, they have fake reviews (many reviewers have one review only or two). (Response) Well I am very sorry then, maybe it was an off day for my two meals. Ive had amazing food all over Toronto and Montreal, and this was not 4.7 stars. Best of luck.

Excellent with generous portions! The only downside unfortunately was that the two naans I ordered were reheated in a pan or by an identical means. The ones I was served last time were excellent and newly cooked. I realize that I was late, close to closing, but I would have preferred to have been told that the naans are no longer available at that time! An excellent Indian restaurant!

What an amazing man aijaz(owner) is. Such hospitality. Such open heartedness in serving his client. We ordered nihari, lamb biryani, butter chicken, kadhai chicken, tadka rice, gobhi aloo, tadka mix daal and his homemade green chutney. Every dish was surpassed in flavour and taste. He is such a warm hearted person. Its hard to find people like hi. His food was amazing but his attitude was the best thing. I will remember this food for a long time. If you are looking for Indian and pakistani this is the place to go to.

First experience. We had the butter chicken and the chicken biryani. The butter chicken is more tomato (probably due to the owners region) it was excellent. Lots of sauce, well balanced between spices, tomatoes and spiciness. I would have had a little more chicken though. The chicken biryani is just WOW the raïka sauce is very good with the biryani, it complements the flavors very well. Also a nice extra basmati rice comes with every order and it is very good. Its not just white rice, there are seasonings in it. Very good portions too, it will make a good lunch.

Super super good. It was absolutely delicious. The place is smaller than what you would expect but it feels like home made meals! We had samosa and Butter chicken. Absolutely loved them.

Probably the best Indian restaurant in town (including Ottawa). We have ordered several times; and each time the food has been delicious (a constant that is rare in restaurants). Our favorite dishes: Biryani (chicken) and Butter Chicken. A little gem of a restaurant that deserves to be discovered.

Second time at the Nawab, twice satisfied. Today I ate the lamb korma, it was very good. A generous portion that I ate all of.

Everything was delicious! We ordered the pakora appetizer and channa masala and saag paneer with rice and naan bread. The atmosphere is nice with some Indian music playing in the background. The staff were warm and friendly. Im so happy to have found an option in Gatineau for Indian cuisine! Well definitely go back. Thank you so much!

Take out is delicious, third time we order and still great food. Portions are generous, containers are all recyclable. Owners are very nice and proud of their food. Take out food that feels like real homemade food.

La Nawab was an exceptional discovery for my long-time friend Johanne (for her birthday) and I tonight for dinner! The food is excellent, with a myriad of spices, plates have a lot of flavour! It is now my favorite restaurant in the area! The cook has magic fingers and deserves more then a 5 star!!! The service is perfect and very professional. I will come back for sure! Manon

Excellent in all respects. The only exception would be the décor which is a fairly modest café style. The food was delicious and the service was great. We ordered with the mild spice level as we had kids with us, with extra spice on the side, that was a good way to go, the food was very flavorful. Our favorite was the biryani; also had the Saag and Korma, butter chicken and naan bread, all good and generous portions. The server also offered us additional starters for free that we had not ordered. The service was friendly and quick. Quite affordable and we had leftovers to bring home.

Worst ever Indian food experience: butter chiken: soggy, basically a soup with chicken NOT marinated in it. Saag paneer : unedible! Panner : not the real one: the sauce : impossible taste; shimos: soggy; tandori chicken : acceptable ( takeout for 4 persons on Oct 21 2022). Never again.

Just order a butter chicken with samosa and it s the best Indian food I had since forever it s exactly what I was expecting to taste it s more than a five stars

Ordered two beef dishes (Korma, Nihari) and Sag Paneer, with one piece of Naan and a mango shake. Over $60. Because the meat was of the lowest possible quality (cubes of dry, tough, stewing beef with no fat), the meals were not filling at all; $60 of food not enough to fill me and my sprightly wife. The same cheap stewing beef appears to have been shared by the Korma and Nihari plates, likely boiled separately in advance and just dropped in the sauces for a few minutes at the last moment. The Korma sauce was a goopy grey gravy, absolutely flavorless, evidently a bit of packet broth with some still evident lumps of partially dissolved corn starch added to thicken it up before dropping in the large bland cubes of boiled beef. The Sag Paneer gave the impression of being frozen spinach thrown in a blender with a bit of cream. Awful, unsatisfying, a rip-off. Very hard to square the 5-star reviews I see with my experience.

The chicken Tikka was actually delicious. The Nan bread tasted like store bought. The Butter Chicken was the not good at all; thats definitely not butter chicken but a chicken pea soup more like it.

This is the second time weve ordered here and have been amazed both times. Weve ordered a Chicken Biryani, Lamb Biryani, Pakoras and 2 drinks (Punjabi Sweet Lassi & Mango Mastani). The Biryanis were super fresh with tons of flavors, I really love the spices. So far my favorite is the Lamb Biryani and those Pakoras.. I just cant stop eating them, they are super addictive. Both drinks were really good but for me personally, I love the Mango Mastani. On top of everything they gave us a free salad! Theyre super nice. Guys, this place is a hidden gem.. if you havent tried yet, you definitely should!

The biryani is more like pulao. Passable but definitely overrated
