I had a poutine delivered there. Very good portion but almost only fries. Theres barely any sauce. A little cheese on top. I am on a quest to try the different poutines in the region and I must say that I am a little disappointed with this one. Maybe Ill try it again one day.

The best poutine in Hull!!

I gave 1 star for the service because he never answers the phone no matter how busy or not. If we call these when we dont have time to wait there because we are working. For the small one I give a 3 star the fries are really good and the sauce but the cheese is just on top and nothing below. Missing more than 1/4 of poutine before you even eat it. I took an average for 8.75 tax included. These are not the bomb of poutines but edible.

One of the most 6/10 poutines I have ever eaten in my life. Nothing incredible. Just close to home and really no $.

The lady serves very rude and aggressive, very unpleasant place and experience.

So when I arrived the lady at the counter said hello to me aggressively. I said, hello, and she said HELLO again. So I said to him, Hello, I already answered you once. And then she asked me aggressively, What do you want? Then she dared to ask me if I wanted to leave a tip. The poutine was good though!

I stopped there and after 3 hours I still have a headache. Hot Dog really not digestive and bland poutine sauce without taste. Very very disappointed.

Is there poutine like this in Ottawa? They don t do UEor DD. Some people are big fan. I m not but some people are. So I m looking for alternates to this place in downtown Ottawa please let me know I am looking for today for lunch for two people hopefully fries like the same as theirs and taste similar

Im from the area, I go there from time to time for poutine. The waiting time is always unnecessarily long and the lady serving doesnt seem to mind too much. It happened several times that there was no one at the counter for more than 5 minutes and I finally decided to leave.

On attends pour 15 minutes, la dame nous ignorent tout ce temps. La sauce brune était brûlé, les frites aussi. Absolument allez ailleur, ça vaut pas votre temps >:( We waited for over 15 minutes all while this lady is ignoring our presence entirely. The sauce is burnt beyond belief and watered down, fries are reheated and then burnt, nothing is clean and there is not a single nice thing I can say about this place. Go elsewhere, they are undeserving of the customers they have and its not worth your time or money to support such an awful location

Good place to get a quick bite staff are very friendly and food is good.

Marked as open on Google and on store poster!! But closed 1 hour before the corresponding time..... We drove 15 minutes for nothing. Fortunately we discovered the Hulloise paterie which was excellent and open...! A blessing in disguise given the comments blaming the hygiene and the decline in quality of golden potato poutines.

The service was horrible, waited 45 minutes for a poutine when there were just 3 customers, plus the lady was stupid, I ordered a minced meat poutine and there was barely anything in it, very disappointed

Employees have difficulty smiling and welcoming people. Dont make you feel welcome. Maybe dont forget that its thanks to customers that you have a job

The poutine was acceptable, but not the best Ive ever had. The fries seem to be pre-cook half way and then they are put aside for until an order is made and they are then fried a second time. It maked for a greasy poutine. The lady behind the counter seemed very angry and was not very friendly at all. There is nothing to mention about the atmosphere here. Keep your expectations low.

Service was slow (1/2 hour to get 2 fries with a hotdog and poutine). Food was cold. One employee handling food, money, phone and equipment. Before COVID, this was my go to place for fries and pogos. First time back since and very disappointed. Sorry to see this. Won t be back.

Poutine was not the best at all. Chicken burgers barely had mayo at all ( size of a quarter ) they dont even have lettuce. Chicken burger are better store bought then there. All in all not impressed with our experience except for good price

Yesterday I unfortunately had to throw away my cheeseburger since one of the foods tasted spoiled. What can I say about the cleanliness of the place, the ventilation grille on the ceiling was full of black dust...

Its the best potato in town, with their special 2 hotdogs for the price of 1. That puts the Golden Potato first in the whole city...

Their fries are excellent, disappointed with the mustard cabbage hot dog, the sausage was not like in the past.... it is not up to date and the cleanliness leaves something to be desired

I used to go here often as I lived nearby. Its a good place for a quick bite. The poutine is pretty good but theres better close by. They do sell more than poutine, here, which keeps them busy. Its a little joint in a residential neighborhood that will satisfy your cravings for poutine. Ive been back since Ive moved, its not a bad place; Id give it a 3.5 star, if I could.

Once an institution of old Hull, the quality is no longer there. I ordered 2 pogos and two grilled hot dogs. The pogo was lukewarm and the hot-grilled was only so in name, sausage barely heated (no grill mark) and had a greenish color. 2 bites and the rest went into the trash. 15$+1$(tip)+1$ (Parking). For a snack, go to Poutinerie Albert (Hull) or Gaga Patate (Gatineau).

Good poutine but horrible service. Been there twice at 6:30 and at 6:40 and have been refused service by the same lady as they are closing at 7pm?!? If you are open until 7pm should you serve customer until then? Horrible rude service!

Arriving at 6:35 p.m. it was closed and it said on a notice that it was basically open until 7 p.m. in addition to this the madam was inside but she was completely unaware

Thought poutine would be better on this side of the bridge, but I ve certainly had better. Poutine tasted like the fries had been fried more than once, soggy. Hot dog was fridge cold.

Props to the woman that runs this shop alone, she has a character but good woman. Best time to get food is before 4pm. Fries arent so good after that time depending on how many customers there are. Especially since government offices have closed at Portage.

The service was good, the fries are great, the poutine is a good portion (extra cheese and gravy on the bottom). The reason I am giving this a 2 star is because of the gravy. It looked so thick and delicious but the taste was awful. 3 of us tried it and we all had the same after taste which was of stale cigarette smoke. It taste like the tenants upstairs might smoke in the unit and the taste has made its way into the gravy. It was very disappointing, we bought a family size and had 3 bites and couldnt eat the rest.

This place has been a classic for me for 20 years. Even though I no longer live in the area, when I m back to visit friends I make a point of stopping by. Sadly this weekend marked a low point and I don t know if I ll come back again. Service was friendly but much slower than usual. My steamy hot dogs were cold and the buns were stale and also cold. I could have dealt with that, but it was the poutine that made me really disappointed . Ordered une grosse that was skimpy on fries. Also fries were tough (overcooked?). The gravy was luke warm and gloopy of course that means the cold curds were unmelted. Basically, I get a better cass-croute experience when I m in Toronto. Now that is insulting, right?! I pray the owners correct this disgraceful experience.

Last time I eat this! They are not clean, dont wear a net or gloves, you pay happily and then without washing your hands or touching the money they touch your food. Undercooked fries still hard when you eat them. Its disgusting, plus its covid, its not clean.

It use to be the best, now the worst.The chips tasted like they were cooked in oil that hadnt been changed in months and the chips also looked like they were old and fried more than once. The staff was not polite and the food was worse. It is to bad it use to be such a good place to eat.I would never recommend this place to anyone and if anyone was to ask I would tell them never eat there because its a waste of money and your stomach will hate you. If I could give them less then 1 star I would.

Stopped there today and never again. Had a Pogo fries and a drink. Pogo was good but drink was half full when I opened it since I do not use straws, Fries were under cooked and soggy. Service was good though. You also have to pay for parking if your not on foot. (Aug 21 2020) My visit date.

I used to stop here for lunch occasionally before I retired. Food was always good as was service. In the last 3 months I have gone back twice and have received both bad service and sub standard food. I will not be back again.

Upon approaching the building, the smell of fries is so good and they taste just as good. The staff though.. they all seem to hate serving the english. The smiles they greet you with disappear quick when you respond in English. The hygiene can use an improvement too. They wear no gloves and will take your money then handle the food, sometimes touching the fries directly. I love the food and slushies here, and I wish I could come more often, I just dont feel welcome.

Its not what it was before! This is the third time Ive introduced myself and the staff has changed (the same lady was always there before). Since the personnel changes, the service has slowed down considerably! But they have the best hot dog coleslaw recipe in town!

Putin correct. No more. The fries were hard... I usually like dry fries, not this time. The person who served me was not very courteous, and even if she did not physically touch my fries with her hands, when you handle money in a restaurant, you wash your hands, something that Mme. didnt do. In general, I dont think Ill go back there.

Delicious And Affordable French Canadian Cuisine

I didnt like it at all unfortunately. The poutine was not good at all, the sauce tasted like water, the fries were super greasy and then not enough cheese, even if I had paid for extra cheese... The service was not at all courteous either, the lady was rude. The outside tables were dirty too. I dont think I will return there unfortunately, too disappointing!

The best poutine Ive ever had

The hygiene here is terrible. We bought 2 hot dogs and a poutine. After using her phone, with her bare hands she handled the hot dogs. Then again with her bare hands she placed the cheese on the poutine and squeezed it down to ensure the fit. We paid for the food but threw it out after thinking of where her hands might ve been. STAY AWAY.

Had the worst experience there today. The woman threw a fit every time anyone ordered anything. I almost just walked away, and many people did. Professionalism goes a long way.

This place is terrible, Woman who runs it hates when people order anything complicated, she hates english people and will try to overprice your item. Was served cold gravy, incorrect fry size, rude staff. What a terrible terrible place, this is the embodiement of a hit and miss place right here; alright food when done correctly but also dirty, rude and unprofessional.

Overall okay experience. If they re is a lineup the wait is a little long. Standard frenchfries stand prices. Food is okay.

Excellent poutine

A very long established and well know french fry house in old Hull. Their fries & poutine are awesome. They also make pogos, hotdogs and burgers.

Now this is the way poutine is supposed to be. Ive read that the cheese curds in quality poutine are supposed to squeek when you bite into them and I didnt know what they were talking about. Ive only had really soft cheese curds from Ontario poutine before that turn to mush once the gravy hits it. But now after trying this poutine I finally get it. I could feel the squeek. Of course their other key poutine ingredients (the fries and the gravy) were on point too. So it was an overall excellent poutine experience. Ill be back

There is usually a little bit of a wait but its definitely well worth it! I highly recommend getting your hot dog or Pogo with everything on it! Definitely a novelty in the neighborhood as well.
