Quai Chic Taverne in Gatineau

This is not the first time I have been to Quai St-Raymond. Its a place I used to like to go, but since the last time I was there I found that the place had changed a lot. The service was very, very slow, almost an hour and a quarter between the starter and the meal. Additionally, the waitress service was a bit ordinary, we had the impression that she didnt want to be there. The food was good but nothing more. In the past the food was much better with better presentation. Its a shame, I dont know if Ill take this place into consideration the next time I go out to a restaurant!!

Obviously, the waitresses were overwhelmed. I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Very disappointed with the taste and especially the presentation. Two hearts of uncut romaine garnished with parmesan with rather dry chicken on the side...all presented on a plate without a rim, so very difficult to cut and mix my salad without it spilling onto the table. I do not recommend this plate in any way. The waitress brought me the dessert menu and never came back to take my order, being too busy charging other customers.

Extremely slow service. We had a large group for dinner and we all made our order in advance. Despite this we waited over 35 minutes for our meal. Also, everyone received their plate at a different time. The service was slow and lacking in courtesy. Although we were the only occupied table in the restaurant. Very unfortunate since the food is good. The taste is there, but I will never go back there again. Too much waiting and little attention. Very expensive.

I went there for my birthday with a group of 8 people. There was another celebratory party taking up the rest of the restaurant on the table side. It was crowded and very noisy on their side but I must admit that we still contributed to it!! Nonetheless, the food was excellent and good portions. There is enough variety to satisfy your man!. The service was fabulous. Our kind waitress was very responsive to our needs and requests. I like this place having been there a few times. Superb casual/chic atmosphere. A lounge/bar side with a few screens and in a subtle way, we integrate the restaurant side with worked wooden tables, large benches and sofas. Occasionally, there may be a performance space (e.g. singers). Very nice experiences. Thank you.

We booked for a large group for my sons party to begin with the waitress was not very friendly and it took an extremely long time before we could even get a drink ! Dinner took a total of 3 hours when our menu was already almost established! Then at the end of the evening the waitress asked me why I hadnt left a bigger tip, a question that doesnt ask! quite ordinary and then who continues to tell me that she will have to pay out of pocket for the service that I received during the evening, even while explaining to me that she must pay 8% in taxes, thats not the case. customer problem that the service was not adequate I do not recommend this place, especially not for groups, they are not organized enough to accommodate this type of group! In addition to a great lack of staff! more than disappointing! with several comments moving during the very ordinary evening!

This restaurant remains one of the restaurants that I really like. Over the years, the menu seems to have shortened, but what remains is a sure value.

I went there for my 2nd time in 3 weeks yesterday. Its really excellent! And the impeccable service. I gave a 4 for the atmosphere because I found the music a little loud at one point but probably if I had mentioned it, the waitress would have taken it into account. A small suggestion given the quality of the food: Offer the pepper with a real pepper mill. My daughter and I thought the same thing on our first visit and yesterday a friend of the group also made the comment. Well done! Update March 30, 2024 Yesterday we had a new waitress Rosalie. There were people with dietary restrictions in our group and she was very attentive. She went to ask questions and came back with the answers. Very cheerful, efficient and friendly! Well done! Wheelchair accessibility: There are several steps to get to the room and too narrow to install a ramp, so not accessible.

My experience in this bar I find that lesxwaitress is hypocritical

This restaurant is my recent favorite in the Outaouais region. We introduced ourselves, a group of 6 people, and tasted each others dishes. Soup of the day, garlic snails, 2 salmon or beef tartars, paella, flank steak, mussels, sugar tart, Portuguese tartlets. Its quite simple: everything about this restaurant is excellent. I chose the Pescadore and this dish was divine, it was so tasty and full of flavor. I sweetened my mouth with a magnificent crème brûlée. I also have to give a special mention to the fries, which are one of the best Ive eaten. In short, this restaurant is a real little culinary gem. I will return there, thats for sure. Congratulations to the entire team of this restaurant and long life!

We recently visited Quai St-Raymond and were seduced by the quality of the food. Despite the somewhat slow service, the dishes were excellent and well worth the high cost of the restaurant. We highly recommend this establishment for discerning food lovers. A real treat for the taste buds

We had the wonderful discovery of this restaurant for our Valentines Day dinner. The a la carte choices for this occasion were good. We chose: starter salmon tartare; main course: lamb shank, potato and vegetable puree and dessert: vanilla mousse. We enjoyed ourselves. The staff is pleasant and smiling.

I want to keep this very simple, Ive been eating fish & chip in most of the pubs in the NCR rigion for over 40 years and I can definitely say with certainly that Le Quai make the BEST F&C by far........promise!

It has changed a lot since then, now they have added slot machines directly in the restaurant, and they have removed tables, the atmosphere is no longer there, our table was stuck on another separated by transparent plexi ... a little more we ate with them!!! Limit a slightly matte plexi would already have been more cozy... I will unfortunately not go back there again

A super good restaurant! The cod accras as well as the squid are very good with a light breading, not too fatty. As a main meal, we had the bavette steak. He was perfect! With vegetables, French shallots and sauce! Yum! Good portion without leaving there stuffed . Beautiful decor, nice atmosphere, good service, fair price. I would come back without hesitating.

Nice girls evening. The atmosphere was perfect. The cod accras are to die for, they are so delicious! A must. On the other hand, the salmon tartare was bland for my taste. Not spicy enough, lacked punch. But on the other hand, the dessert, pastel de nata, was by far the best dessert I have eaten in the last year. I plan to go back soon just for this dessert. That s how delicious these little Portuguese tartlets are!

Good service

My dish was way too salty, and it didnt taste fresh. The same goes for my girlfriends dish. The mussels were not fresh at all. Very disappointing for the food.

The waitress was kind but not well coordinated, that was the only good part. The food i got was awful, the fish was overcooked and had an old taste to it, the fries were really oily, limp and brown as if they had been cooked and recooked numerous times. I only took 2 bites i couldnt anymore, and they never came by to ask if the food was okay, only at the end did they ask if I wanted to take it home. I refused and she seemed frustrated that I said so. I still paid and tipped the waitress as it was not she who cooked it but I am greatly disappointed by the previous reviews and advise people not to go there.

Very much enjoyed this restaurant. Extremely friendly service with a nice ambiance and laid-back environment. Feels like a family restaurant. The food was very good, with an excellent selection of desserts. Will return.

What a discovery! There were two of us, without reservations on a Saturday evening... they found us a small place and it was GREAT!! Only problem, the waitress never came to see us again and we had to find her to be able to pay and leave!!

I am far from being a demanding customer... I will never set foot in this restaurant again! Our waitress was really nice and did her best, but the rest was terrible. We arrived at 7:30, received our meals at 9:15!!! One of our friends made a mistake on her order because she didnt know that parpadelle was egg pasta. The OWNER came to her and said word for word It s not my problem, you should know what it is! But wow, what a delicacy and beautiful gift for her 30th birthday! Afterwards, the waitresses were having shots at the bar and looking at us askance and, clearly, laughing at us! To top it off, my steak was DISGUSTING and my vegetables burned!! I repeat to myself that I am far from demanding in restaurants, I tip very very well!!! Im sorry for our nice waitress who was caught in the middle, but I work in customer service too and the whole thing was unacceptable with a huge lack of class! See you again and never

Literally floored. We reserved for my friends 30th birthday party for 15 people. Their menu is badly explained and my friend made a mistake. She felt really bad because she cannot eat pasta and the owner was ripping her a new one as tho she was the dummest person on the planet for not knowing this was a pasta dish (even tho it doesnt say so on the menu but apparently she should have known about this special kind of pasta) and they wanted to charge her for her mistake even tho she couldn t eat and didn t touch the plate. Overall thanks for ruining the party. They also never offered us the desert menu, and didn t apologize for the owner being so rude.

Very disappointed, we were a group of 15 for our friends 30th birthday, my friend made a mistake on the menu and asked nicely to change the dish. The owner was extremely rude and told her she should know better. Afterwards she sat at the bar drinking and loudly complained about us. Thanks for ruining my friends birthday Will not return

Honestly, I think everything has been said below regarding the atmosphere and the owner who clearly has a communication problem and a lack of tact, but I would like to add that 11 out of 15 people were sick. As for value for money; we are served with more respect at McDonalds.

Its been a year since we last returned to the Quai...The restaurant was very busy and the nice waitress did her best to serve everyone. It seemed understaffed. I really enjoyed the mussels from the Quai. For the accompaniment of fries, well they no longer serve them in the usual cone and the portion was reduced by a lot. No one among the 5 liked the fries. My onion soup was a disappointment. Little flavor. The atmosphere is always pleasant.

Food was not the best. Oil fir the fries needs changing. 1hour 45 minutes to get our food. Would not recommend at all

Its a pleasant place, the food is decent and the restaurant is well located.

Generally well-rounded spot. Greeting is not Always perfect but overall a nice spot with decent food selection at a reasonable price.

In terms of warm welcome, we will come back. The restaurant was empty. NO occupied tables. The hostess didnt bother to ask us how long we planned to stay and she coldly directed us to the bar. Ordinary.

Mussels are always a treat at this restaurant which serves some different ways of cooking fish. The Portuguese house wines are a big surprise. Reasonably priced with lunch specials. Located not too far from Ottawa on the same road as the Casino.

Saturday evening 8:30 p.m., hardly anyone in the restaurant ???? Slot machine side..... practically full. .. this is no longer the restaurant/bar that I once knew!!! Either no one goes out to Hull anymore (which is false) or that I knew how to keep a clientele other than the Gamblers!!!!!

For a seafood place the calamari was disappointing (small and a little bland). The clam paella was surprisingly good. The decor is nice but the ambiance was dampened because of the casino slot mwchines in the back used by random gamblers and the sports channels on all their tvs.

December 31, beautiful New Years Eve evening and excellent food

What was an establishment on my local Top 5 for a long time has lost a lot of quality in the last year. I went there in the fall with a group of friends and the lobster tartare made me so sick that I considered going to the hospital. Excluding the severe discomfort, the service there was very slow and very ordinary. I came back this evening and unfortunately the service has not improved. It took 40 minutes to get a menu and the same amount of time for the wine. We ordered soups as starters and main courses, the meals arrived before the soup... A simple dinner that took about 2 hours in total. A 2 hour outing isnt so bad if you get service, but we had to do our own wine service and the soups that never arrived contributed to the perception that we were still waiting. Also the hot water handles in the bathrooms dont work. A meager saving for the establishment which is very unpleasant in winter for customers...

We celebrated our 19th anniversary as a couple and my partners birthday. Outstanding service and excellent food as always. Its our restaurant. Thank you.

Known for their mussels. Had their maple Chipotle mussels...amazing zing...wine choice offered to accompany was greatly paired. Cosy but chic...just avoid the gambling area in the back. Kind of spoiled it for me. Great friends or date place.

This is actually good sea food location which is basically at the second floor of the building. Place is clean, good with decoration, friendly personal, good food portion and nicely clocked. Price could be just slightly over then in some other locations however, you wont quite big difference. I did feel that service is not quite fast which could be related several points such as kitchen or customers volume.

Great discovery! Very pleasant atmosphere, excellent food! Fast service despite the fact that there was a party! Really reasonably priced ($62 with a drink). The flank steak was excellent and plentiful, the fish & chips succulent. We will come back, it s a must!

Went there for Valentines Day. The menu was different but the food was delicious and the prices were reasonable all things considered. Can t say much about the normal day menu but I can say that the staff gave good service and they were pretty fast.

The beef tartare comes with a bonus kidney stone. Saltier than the Dead Sea. On the other hand, the service was good and the bill was not too steep; unlike beef tartare.

I went last night for the all you can eat mussels and fries promotion and it was excellent. The service was impeccable and the mussels delicious! I highly recommend the Paella molds, my favorite.
