Resto Bistro Rumeur in Gatineau

I feel obliged to point out that despite the food being excellent, I am disappointed with my visit. Accidents can happen and thats actually what happened. The young lady serves us glasses of water and drops two glasses of water on me and my partner. Very unpleasant to eat soaked. The young lady apologized and thats okay. But as an apology, the restaurant could have shown a gesture of courtesy by compensating us somewhat...like bringing an appetizer courtesy of the restaurant.

Superb experience at Resto Bistro Rumeur, I had forgotten how delicious we always are! Bravo to the cook! Food, impeccable presentation! Wow! Its difficult to find good value for money, but here!!! Were not wrong! Steak-Fries (sauce and salad included) two choices of meat (bavette or entrecôte) $38

As I regularly go to Gatineau, I choose to stay at the V hotel and have dinner at the Rumeur restaurant. The quality of the food is exceptional, and the service is simply impeccable. Although I havent explored the entire menu yet, I discovered enough to recommend everything without hesitation. Certainly, the prices are a little high, but they are amply justified by the quality of the dishes and the overall experience.

Uncooked chicken! My boyfriend and my friend were sick. I dont recommend it at all. Be careful about what you order. Find another place if you have the choice! They offered us my boyfriends meal but it remained unacceptable.

When I mentioned to the waitress that I would have ordered something else if I had known, she offered to order something else at that moment, but everyone was already eating. The service was good, but no discounts offered for an incomplete dish. Additionally, the rice was hard. As for the atmosphere, it was okay. Supposedly the other dishes are good, but Im not sure I want to return.

Very good hotel restaurant, however the quality of the food varies enormously from one dish to another (a lot of hit or miss in my opinion). Aside from that, there are plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options that will please everyone.

Me and my family went to eat on a Tuesday evening. The service was impeccable, the waitress was attentive and attentive, served us as best she could. On the other hand the food was execrable. I took the pork souvlaki from the summer menu! The pork was way overcooked which made it dry and incredibly tough. For Israeli couscous, I must have been unlucky and ended up at the bottom of the batch, because it was also very dry. Despite all the sauce in the dish, it was all very dry in the mouth. I didnt eat 1/8 of the dish so I turned them over. This is a shame because we had waited almost an hour for our plates. I could write for a long time about the starter plate that we had and my partners too, but these are enough not to make us come back.

Very disorganized, we left after 25 minutes without service, or even a greeting from the waitress.

Update from May 29, 2024, Restaurant side. As for the atmosphere in the restaurant, we all thought it was too dark. Plus it was really too cold. My Bistro salad was well garnished except for the almonds. The dressing tasted absolutely nothing. I asked for some vinegar. They brought me envelopes of very ordinary white vinegar. I was expecting a good homemade vinaigrette, with quality vinegar. Its the big base of a good salad. My 3 colleagues were satisfied with their meal. Impeccable and fast service. The waitress very friendly. Opinion no. 1, Bistro side: We were 3 couples and everyone really liked their meal: 4 had the onion soup gratinated as a starter. For the meal: 3 chose the hamburger, 1 the salmon, 1 the flank steak and 1 the rib (better than at St-Hubert, according to this person). The service was very good. Comments excluding food: Our beer drinker was not satisfied with the choice offered, to the point of not having her usual aperitif. We were located near the bar (we didnt expect it). It was okay but there was a group of about ten people who were very noisy. We saw customers change places during the evening because of this and 2 people in my group found it difficult because we were very close.

We had a wonderful evening. The table de hôte food was delicious and served quickly. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant.

The restaurant was completely empty except for 2 ladies who spoke quite loudly. (A man) placed us directly next to them. We asked to be moved to a table next door. We were told that it was impossible and that everything was reserved. We spent 2 hours at the restaurant and the restaurant was still empty when we left. No idea why we were refused to move places. We also waited 20 minutes without a menu and without water before getting service. Not strong. I ordered a filet mignon, it was good. But I wont go back there because of the service.

I was staying at the hotel, and usually don t eat in hotel restaurants, but the menu looked interesting and I didn t feel like going out in the cold. The restaurant isn t huge but is nicely laid out, and the atmosphere was great, v pleasant for a pre-show meal. The service was fast and attentive. Drinks were decent and reasonably priced, and the food was great, far better than I expected! I d definitely eat here again.

Such bad service and I m pretty grateful and generous in general. Ive made several reviews in recent days, but Rumeurs was the worst restaurant we visited in December - and weve made several. Waiter with his hands in his pockets, nonchalant, disinterested, who didnt want to be there. Didnt refill the wine glasses once during the meal - and the dining room wasnt full at all. It was a really unpleasant experience for my birthday. Plain food, dishes without flavor for some or too salty for other guests. Sand forgot that we turned on the lights, turned off the music, put away the chairs and started cleaning the floor as discreetly as possible at 9:00 p.m. to make us feel extra. Avoid at all costs! What a disappointment!

This was my favorite place to order on uber eats. I used to order almost everyday. Stopped using uber eats now. My power went out all day so I tried to call in for a takeout order but the staff wouldnt even take my order. Just kept putting me on hold and transferring me around. Unless you have uber eats or are a french guest at the hotel I guess youre not allowed to buy food here

A small downside for the too noisy atmosphere when the restaurant is full. (I suggest the introduction of some sound traps, because currently, the walls, floors and even the ceiling and its glass roof all contribute to returning sound waves without absorbing any...) Every time we eat at this restaurant we are never disappointed. The menu is quite varied and all the dishes look exquisite.

Food was good from my end, my boyfriends steak was tough, and his fries seemed they were from frozen, but the service was awful, it was a Thursday evening and we were there for an hour and a half for each a drink (2 for me) and a meal. To order, to get another drink, to get our bill we had to call them over because they wouldn t come over to the table, we do not plan to come back.

The welcome was wonderful. We started with an onion soup au gratin which is also superb with mozzarella. Followed by duck confit poutine. And it s excellent tonight! I have often frequented this restaurant in the past, because it is adjacent to the Hotel V. I always found it expensive, but the dishes were still acceptable. Very first visit. We reserved a table on the terrace. Beautiful and well appointed. Nice atmosphere even if the boul. is very close. We were lucky enough to get our evening off to a good start with the waitress (whose name I forgot). She took care of us by explaining the specialty of the restaurant and also offered suggestions for starters. We were not rushed by the weather; we ordered our starters and then the main meal. The wine list, lots of good choices for both red and white wine. Our meals were all very excellent, beautiful presentation, fair portion and all well served in a short time. We didnt get a chance to have dessert; Very well eaten! Well save that for a future visit! No negative points. I highly recommend this Bistro and we will be back! Thanks to the whole team!

So disappointed, my 1st visit since reopening. The service is almost non-existent. I asked for a Kir Royal, the waitress to say What is that. Yet it s on the menu and quite common. We had to ask for water 3 times. The wine was not good, the waitress told us she didnt know what to do. She didnt want to taste it, she instead encouraged us to choose another wine. Which she made me taste so as not to waste unfortunately she only poured a drop so it was difficult to taste it. The coffee was old and tasted burnt...really nothing like the very good meals and service that Rumeur previously offered
