Hands down 5 out of 5. The service was top notch and the food? Sooo delicious! Last day of the season is tomorrow so if you want to squeeze them in, make a reservation. Seriously? The very BEST fish and chips I have EVER had! Freshly caught haddock, that melted in your mouth, with a tasty crispy coating, served with homemade tartar sauce. And there was homemade coleslaw. The fries were supplied from Sysco, and they were home cut and sooooo good! Yes, I asked lots of questions. Also VERY inexpensive. You get much more than you pay for. But get this…. it’s a surprise… the owners plan to take over the former Mike’s Lunch, call it it “Fran’s”, and have Eatza Pizza in there as well! My favourite Glace Bay pizza! AND… it’s going to be licensed!!! We also toured the Miner’s Village. It’s a good look into our history 🤗 Highly recommend!!!!!🙌🙌🙌
Made a reservation for 6 at 530, and were quick to take our order. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for not too complicated meals (ie: fish and chips). Every customer in the facility was getting obviously frustrated with the service and wait times. Some of the tables were offered tea biscuits while others were not. When the food arrived, it arrived at different times for all seated at the table and came out cold. To the point where one was sent back to be reheated but still was not warm enough to have butter melt on the mashed potatoes on the plate... The waitresses, in a tough position, went around the restruant telling customers loudly that one of their cooks quit and walked out that day. They ran out of menu items which was odd as didn't appear anyone was getting food. A better business decision, in my opinion, would be to not take customers in that night not having the proper staffing rather than complain about it to already unhappy customers. Should have flipped the closed sign as we will not be going back.
arrived at 6 for our reservation, waitress gave us water, there were 9 of us, and 2 other tables one with with 5 and one with 7 people so not overly busy, she came and took our order sold out of turkey so i got senior spaghetti, after an hour she started apologizing and saying just a few more min.so we asked if she would take our drink orders lol, well no coke or pepsi, by now it has been 1 hour and 20 min, still no food, again she apologized and said waiting on the fish and chips, 3 people ordered it, finally we said at least give us what`s ready please its been 1 hour 35 min and we are hungry, got my spaghetti with 1 meat ball in a bowl and not even a piece of bread for 12.00 dollars, and the fish was over cooked. and that other table that was waiting just as long as us still dident get any food yet, sorry but that`s just about the worst service i have ever had and will not be going back.
The Miner’s Museum and the Men of the Deeps concert were awesome. Unfortunately, the Miner’s Restaurant was a disappointment. We arrived 25 minutes early for our dinner reservation at 5:30 and were seated right away. Our food did not arrive until almost 6:00. There was no bread on the table to eat while you waited for your meal. The seafood chowder was barely luke warm. It did not even have any lobster pieces in it. The pan seared halibut was not fully cooked and all of the food on the plate was not even warm. The broccoli was raw. The only thing that was warm on the turkey dinner plate was the gravy. The large salad was small by most standards. I asked for grilled chicken on the salad. What I got looked and tasted like the precooked chicken pieces you can buy in the package. There were no knives on the table so we asked for knives to cut our food. The waitress brought us two knives for four people. We had to ask for two more knives. The waitress never returned to see if everything was ok. We did advise the waitress that the two plates of food were not even warm. She was very apologetic and did not charge us for those two meals. We will not be returning.
Good food and friendly people. Food was plentiful and fast. Lots of options for starters and main meals. Would recommend checking this restaurant out if you are in the area. It should be noted that the miner museum is a must see attraction which is situated next door to restaurant.
Anytime family and friends come for a visit we will be bringing them here. It's a well kept historical location with extremely friendly staff. Quick service and food was worth coming back for. Thank you.
If you are looking for delicious halibut this is where you want to come. Came here with our rv w instead of home cooking we enjoyed two scrumptious halibut and chip dinners! It wasn’t even deep fried like I usually have , man it was good.
Well I'm kind of disappointed as the place had great reviews. I had the turkey dinner. It was dry and too meh. I was expecting more flavour but I had to drizzle the entire cranberry sauce all over it to give it flavour. My momhad be wings and ribs. The chicken was fantastic. The ribs were dull and did not fall off the bone (though texture wise). The place is beautiful and has a great location (close to the mine museum) but it did not meet my expectations of a 4+ place.
In the off-season on Saturdays, there is little choice apart from the dish of the day. Warm welcome. The brief and the gravy sauce is pretty good.
Great food , good ambience and lovely staff .
Very tasty and reasonably priced for the experience.
After the recent sale of the restaurant the entire menu was changed to mirror it sister store the Brixton. Prior to the sale you would get a basket of tea biscuits and oat cakes to share which were delicious. Now you tasteless rolls and cold tea. The prices have increases significantly while the food transitioned modern-miner era to more upscale. When you order a turkey dinner you expect it to be layed out, not stacked like a pancake. This is not what the restaurant was and is an embarrassement to the historic grounds it stands on. They need to revert their changes and continue what they were good at, quality food that resembles its name, Miners Village. Parking: Small parking area though enough for the size of the space Wheelchair accessibility: Slight bump at the enterance and a standard size door. Nothing extra
New menu and food was not cooked properly. Couldnt eat my Seafood pasta.
Food is great but the new management are very rude and come across as only to make a buck attitude. The lady manager is awful to deal with does not portray the visiting atmospher the establishment was known for.
Excellent every time we go.
new management is brutal i would not recommend spending your money at this place
This is definitely one of the restaurants I have ever been to in Cape Breton. Food is delicious, hot and served very quickly. Servers are super friendly. Their fish and chips is a must try. Thanks for such an amazing evening
Terrible service and food. Stay away from this place
Service not very good. Received wrong order
Excellent little restaurant steeped in history. Broad menu options and great tasting dishes. I suggest a reservation for a guaranteed seat.
Was very dissatisfied with the new menu, food was mediocre at best, and poorly plated, looked like it was thrown on. Portions very small .
Friendly service Food was delicious Parking: Lots of parking spots Kid-friendliness: Awesome staff
Service was quick and friendly and the food was great!
The service and food are top notch. The menu caters to all tastes with a emphasis on local seafood. The calamari plate is to die for!!! We will make this a go to stop whenever we have visitors. The decor, reflecting the mining history of Glace Bay is very fitting as part of the museum experience
Miners Village Restaurant is a testament to the power of preserving culinary traditions and celebrating local history. The delicious food, warm hospitality, and charming ambiance make it a worthwhile destination for both locals and tourists alike. If you are looking for a dining experience that takes you on a journey through time, Miners Village Restaurant is a must-visit.
Upon arrival we were seated with menus took awhile for waitress to return on 2 tables in while restaurant had customer including mine. We asked about specials the waitress mentioned cream of beets soup we said thats sounds quite interesting she said sounds quite disgusting. Scallops were great but fish tacos had no flavor at all. Then the waitress boyfriend came in to hang out with her. Very unprofessional very disappointed was one of my favorite places but not anymore. Very very disappointed
I mean it s rustic, and small, and a phenomenal part of the experience. If you don t want another Tim Hortons give it a go. Great way to end after the mining tour. Recommended dishes Fish and Chips
Atmosphere is lovely, service was terrific and the food was sooooooooooo good. Highly recommended

The best seafood chowder. The food was excellent from soup to dessert. Great atmosphere and service. Don t miss this.
Three of us had dinner in the miner s museum restaurant with a reservation. We arrived a little early but they had our table ready and graciously seated us. We order Caesar salad and seafood chowder. Amazing food. So delicious the best chowder ever. We had fish and chips and lobster cream waffle fries. The meals were too much but soo delicious. I would recommend this place for the variety of choices and great tasting dishes. The staff are friendly and very accommodating.
Tried the donair grilled cheese sandwich and it was amazing!
Both the food and the service was outstanding. I will be back.
Delicious food every time! Service was great! I love that instead of regular bread service, they bring oatcakes and tea biscuits. We love coming here.

Great food and atmosphere. Down home friendliness you find on Canada s East Coast. They cater very well to allergies. I believe they have a lot of items on the menu but I only see and order the Seared Scallops and Shrimp (on linguini Alfredo).
