Lots of sports on which was good. Only part of my steak that was med rare was the fat I cut off it. Ate the meal without a server asking me if it was the way I wanted it. Ate it anyway cause well I was hungry.

Food is always great, oddly enough we had really poor service! I read other reviews and service always seems great here! Our server must of been having an off day.

We were only in Grande Prairie for a short time after being evacuated from our home but we felt so welcomed at The Old Trapper. Chriss, Kaitlyn, Colby, Shannon, Deedee & Sarah kept the pints flowing and the conversations friendly and hilarious. The food is great, the atmosphere is upbeat and the service is first class!! Thank you to everyone at The Old Trapper!

I want to specifically shout out Kaitlyn. We came to grand prairie after being evacuated from jasper. We were having a hard day after some bad news and she did everything she could along with her sweet grandpa we never got to thank, to make our dinner special for us. I would recommend this place to anyone all the time. 10/10. Thank you so much.

Wow! My first time in Grande Prairie and the Old Trapper was recommended to me by the taxi driver. The food (Philly cheesesteak) may have been the best I ve ever had anywhere (you could smell the smoked meat before you even bit into it), but the server- Colby was absolutely amazing and was so attentive and friendly!! I will be eating here every time I come to this City!! I also got the Saskatoon berry pie to go but I m so full right now I ll have to do an updated review in a couple hours!! I wish I could give this place 10 stars!!

Fathers Day was incredibly busy and with only two servers and everyone else helping out, these guys smashed it. The food was excellent. The friendliness and quality of service were tiptop.

The food was absolutely incredible. Best burger I ve had in a long long time. I got the trail blazer. And the wood chips were delicious too. Great service. My husbands flat iron steak was perfect, he said best steak he s ever had. Definitely worth going to and we look forward to going again. They also gave us a beaver tail as an anniversary treat and it was amazing!

We ordered 3 separate dinners for 3 people Two fish and chips (they forgot the coleslaw for both) ?? When they showed up to deliver the coleslaw they gave my husband and I one small one each Not even an apology !! I had high hopes for this restaurant but now it s at the same level as the others I ve tried Very disappointing

Placed an order through skip. Most of the food was fine except the poutine. It was so ridiculous I couldn t believe what I was seeing. They slapped a cheese slice on the center of an order of fries (gravy was separate). They should be embarrassed!

AMAZING SERVICE!!! My husband was in GP working on his birthday so I placed an order, from across the province, as a surprise for him. I got a call a bit later and the lady who called said they were out of the specific dessert I had ordered - no biggy! I changed the dessert to a brown and explained it was my husbands birthday. I asked if she could please write happy birthday on the container. She was super excited and helpful. My husband later sent me a video - they had tied a balloon to his to-go bag and put a sparkler in with his brownie. It honestly made me tear up. It s hard with him working away so thank you Old Trapper crew for making his birthday special I really appreciate it.

They have a great selection of liquor, at least what we were looking for. We ordered food and it was really good. It isnt expensive, $8 drinks and the meals around the high $teens. We had a good time there.

A group of 6 of us from out of town came in late night and they still served all of us . Excellent food wonderful hospitality. Our waitress was Jackie and she was amazing ... definitely will stop in if and when passing thru GP sometime.

This is our Local go-to restaurant. Family birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated here. When we bring out of town guests and they are always impressed. Massive portions, Alberta beef and Beavertails! You cant go wrong choosing Old Trapper.

Had an excellent meal here. I had the 8 oz steak. It was cooked exactly the way I ordered it and full of flavour. My wife had the beet salad and really enjoyed it. The service and atmosphere were really good. I highly recommend.

Might as well chew and swallow a pack of hubba bubba gum rather then eat the salmon, re-headed half a cob of corn as the server talks you out of the salad, worst meal I ve eaten out in a long time, next time I ll just hit up McDonald s, more nutritional at a better value, ohh also the parking lot will swallow anything smaller then a midsized suv so watch where you try and park

The Old Trapper is a locally owned gem! Service was very friendly and prompt despite being very busy. The food was so good! Shepherd s pie and the spinach dip were so tasty. My husband joked that the gravy was the best he d ever had at any restaurant, ever!! I ll definitely be back. Thanks for a great date night!

It was my first time going in with my boyfriend, we were very impressed to say the least. Sky was our server and she is the best waitress we ve had at ANY restaurant we ve ever been to. She stopped by the table just enough that we were always taken care of, but not too much to the point where it interrupts conversation. My boyfriend ordered a caesar and I was having a tough time deciding, Sky recommended the blue butterfly. Both drinks in our first round were phenomenal. Afterwards he had a blue moon & I tried their strawberry sangria, again great drinks delivered in a timely fashion. For an appy we had 1/2 teriyaki & 1/2 honey hot wings. I can t count the amount of times I said wow while eating the wings. Great portion size to share & in my opinion, best honey hot sauce i ve tried. For mains, they were perfectly timed (shout out Sky) they came out a few minutes after she cleared our appy. My man had the philly beef dip w/fries and I had the cali wrap with a caesar salad. The beef dip was crazy good and the fries just came out of the fryer, crispy and hot. (DEFINITELY recommend their gravy. I hate gravy and their gravy is mind blowing) The caesar dressing on the salad was great, and the cali wrap was the perfect size. To finish off our meal we had the apple crisp/crumble. Came out doused in caramel and I would ve eaten 10 of them if I had any room left after this filling meal. No complaints whatsoever and we both agreed this will be our new spot we frequent. We ll be requesting Sky again as a server for sure as she made the experience as amazing as it was. 6 stars

We ordered take-out through the website which was quick and hassle-free (every restaurant should have a site like this). The order was ready on time, and the food was fresh, hot, and good!

They were very understaffed when we visited. Although the server was very sweet she was simply spread too thin. It took forever to place our orders. We were there for over 2 hours and not from us camping out. We missed our event. The food was decent but not worth the price charged. Presentation was not a focus so it wasnt upcharged for plating. Menu is small. Overall I wouldnt go back unless someone invited me.

Went after work with a colleague so landed around 4:45. Parking lot already had a dozen vehicles in it but I imagine all in lounge for St. Pattys as restaurant started out quiet. Great set up and atmosphere! Comfortable booths and tables. I forget what my friend got but I had the fish and chips ultimately. The fries were just nice shoe string fries. Gravy was tasty but thin so hard to stick to the fry, lol. Seems silly but matters when youre trying to scoop up gravy The fish, though! It was cod and possibly THE best fish Ive ever had! Seriously! And my husbands family owned fish and Chip shops in Toronto so weve tried a LOT of fish over the years!! Their coleslaw, as well, was extraordinary!!! Usually when a person eats the coleslaw on a fish and chip plate, its just cause it came with the meal. THIS coleslaw was worth ordering all on its own! So delicious! I accidentally dropped some off my fork onto my fries, as well, and what do you know, but coleslaw and fries (or at least THEIR coleslaw and fries) tastes incredible together!!! I dont usually drink but treated myself to a strawberry daiquiri as I knew Id be in for a nice visit so could slowly sip. The glass was HUGE and tasted like icicles from Heaven! Presentation points, too! Our server was ... Hmm ... Sierra, maybe, I think she said her name was. Sounded like Sarah, but wasnt. She was passionate about ALL the food, descriptive and meant it when she favoured it all BUT she was able to list a couple recommendations. Her service was perfect as well. On top of it, kind, efficient, happy but not ridiculously overbearing by any means. Just sweet and wonderful! We tried the Beavertail dessert at her recommendation as well. Thinly fried dough, sprinkled with cinnamon and icing (kind of like a thin elephant ear from the fair). Definitely worth it but next time Id order dessert first so I actually had room to EAT it all Cost for a HUGE daiquiri, 2 pieces of the best breaded and fried cod ever, basket of fries and gravy and a Beavertail? $30 +/- before tip. Worth it, though. Id go back again and recommend it to others in a heart beat! Oh right! I just uploaded the photos and remembered that my friend had the beef dip and I DID try a bite and it WAS delicious!!!!

The food here is absolutely delishes! Spinach dip is very good, fish and chips, wings, steak sandwiches ... our table had a variety of foods off the menu and, enjoyed Everything! Service excellent! Finally decided to give Old Trappers a try as I like to support local and give something other than franchises a chance. Atmosphere was nice. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Menu is small, not alot of options which is fine but if you have a small menu you better make good food. We ordered the special which was fish and chips and a Trapper burger with wood chips. The fries that came with the fish were good as well as the gravy but not impressed with the fish at all. Mushy and greasy, my wife only ate one piece. My burger was mediocre at best. No wow factor, bun was ok. Had bacon on it and a big piece of lettuce just placed on top. Had better burgers at other establishments in town. And at $18 for burger and fries I expected something tasty. Sorry Old Trapper i gave you a chance but nothing on the menu jumped out at me as new or interesting, not for a second stop and for the price vs what I got, I don t think you will see me again.

I ve been twice. Steak so gristly I couldn t chew it left half of it on my plate. Servers clueless, unprofessional. Nails so long you wonder about hygiene. When I mentioned my steak was inedible she said perfect! Then came the bill NEVER AGAIN

Nice ambiance, from the old wood stove that greets you as you enter to the old school traps hanging on the wall and the rustic wood on the walls its like an old museum. The food is good too and the price comparable to other places in town. The waitress was nice and checked on us from time to time. Highly recommend getting a beaver tail.

We went for dinner and I would definitely not go again. I ordered fish and chips the fish tasted super fishy like it was off. I had two bites and could not finish it was gross. Their fries are like match sticks not really great. My partner had a burger and he said it tasted like it was burnt. We had mozzarella sticks they are super small and cheap in quality and not worth ordering. The only good thing we had was the spinach dip. Definitely not worth going to for date night in my opinion.

Great food and service. The waitress we had was quick and very helpful. I was very pleased with the menu and the food I ordered. Our family can be fussy, but not one of us had a complaint. Their prices are not cheap but are about the same price as most food restaurants. They are not expensive and you get a good amount of food.

Went into the old trapper for the first time today.... learned theyve been open for 3.5 years. How did I miss this amazing restaurant???? Great food, reasonable prices...aka good portions for what u pay. Was a little slow service wise, BUT thats understandable with a busy restaurant and low staff numbers.

Our server Jackie was amazing. Fast amazing service, and doesn t let our drinks stay empty. That woman deserves a raise, she is always running around getting something done like she s 3 people. Along with the amazing service, the food is great too. 10/10 keep it up!

Food was really good the place is nice however our waitress needs some training..I cant tell you how many times she reached across our plate with her arms she was taking stuff away we were not even done with..we addressed it with her and she could have cared less.. Made our order at 5:38 pm for pickup through Skip, and said it would be 20 minutes. Left and did a couple stops got there to pickup for 6:02. Twice they came out with someone else s order and asked the name again. Proceeded to show our order and the name it s through and from Skip. I was told it was almost done, well I didn t get our order and leave the restaurant by 6:30, while having several other people come to pickup their orders. Definitely won t be ordering from here again, that much of a pain just for burgers an fries

Nice place, good atmosphere and great service. I was there for a company function, our waitress was awesome. She was on top of things from serving and getting our orders. Food was okay, nothing impressive. We had all the appies, wings were phenomenal, delicious spinach dip, nachos could use a lot more cheese and toppings, tempura shrimp seems like it came out of a box, delicious deep fried pickles, crispy cauliflower florets. Check this place out for something new. Heard they had some pretty good beaver tails!

The food was absolutely amazing, furthermore the service was top shelf. It was mine and my girlfriends first time in for supper tonight, and we will be back 110% Not only for the food but for the super awesome friendly staff... I cant remember our servers name off hand, but she was an absolute delight and you guys should definitely hold on tight to her!

Great food for the price we had 7 people and the bill was under $180 with tip. Mind you we had no alcohol. The server was very pleasant. I recommend this restaurant we will visit it again on wing night next time.

Update - service and food has much improved since my original post. Nachos and other appies were tried and were delicious Tasteless food. Had a spicy burger (jalapenos, spicy sauce and jalapeno cheese) - it was not spicy and if I hadnt looked I would have swore there was no jalapenos. Tries the potato soup - tasted like it was rehydrated powered soup. Would not go back. Update - service and food has much improved since my original post. Hubby had the fish and chips, he couldnt finish the fish because it tasted so bad. I had a wrap, it was like eating Wendys....very subpar.... Was looking forward to checking this place out because of all the good reviews....will never go back....Dont waste your money. Another restaurant thats going to die in that spot, unfortunately....

Menu not as extensive as I may like but food is good. My daughters favorite place because of the poutine.i had fish, was pretty good. Service is good.

Staffs were friendly and interactive. Food was good. Tried their wings on Wednesday which was on special. Alfredo pasta was disappointing as the sauce was separated. Their burgers are pretty good.
