La Fromagerie in Greater Sudbury

We went out for lunch and it was empty except for us. After we ordered, a woman and a young girl (the young girl a few minutes before) came downstairs and sat at the end of our table. I assume the woman was the owner, and the young girl was her daughter, though they might also have been renters from the building upstairs. (I have reasons to think they weren t.) The waiter was great, and the food was good. Hard to enjoy with circumstances though unfortunately. But the young girl, who clearly had a cold, came downstairs coughing openly, like kids often do. She went to the kitchen to get some plates, then returned and sat right at our table, still coughing. It seemed obvious she was being kept home from school due to her illness. The woman again, I think she was the owner came and sat across from the girl, which placed both of them at our table in a empty (except us) restaurant. She was making phone calls loudly next to us, which made us uncomfortable since we didn t want to talk about anything personal or inappropriate with a child so close by and her on the phone literally two seats away. At one point, the woman yelled, Cook a chicken breast, saying a certain recipe or something and the kitchen staff responded. Then, we overheard her inviting her niece and what sounded like her sister or another relative to join them. As the people arrived, we felt increasingly out of place, as if we d wandered into someone s home rather than a restaurant. A baby, a little girl with a cold and no one else. They clearly lived there (and were overstepping! or owned it (and still over stepped their place) .The setup felt both uncomfortable and unsanitary. We paid for our food and tipped the waiter before leaving, though in hindsight, I wish I had spoken up about the situation. We enjoy family-owned restaurants, but this experience felt far too personal and unprofessional. This isn t my first bad experience but at the time I ruled it out to COVID as a lot of people around me enjoyed the place. I went there had a homeless gentleman call me a stripper while I waited 25 minutes for my drink and received my food over an hour later cold with the waiter saying he apologized, that he forgot . I ordered the flatbread and with it being cold it became hard. I just can t give this place a good review with the two experiences I ve had. UPDATE** it s been over two weeks and no reply. You (the restaurant) could have at least apologized or responded. Nice to know where your customers stand.

We wanted something other than Italian (lots of options for those) and wandered in. Wow Our host was John and he knows his cheese. The charcuterie board was plentiful and tasty. Our specialty margaritas were good as well. John talked us into trying the cheesecake flight with one substitution - a butter tart that was toasted until smoking and topped with milk froth with cinnamon. They were all great. Before we left he brought over three more cheeses to try and well - I told you he knew his cheese. They were the highlight of the tastings. Go - you won t regret it.

FUNKY place that focuses in charcuterie food fare. Great place to bring a date.

Went here with the family as we were passing through Sudbury, and absolutely loved it. Our server, I wish i remembered his name to compliment him here, was great. He was able to walk us through the menu, and offer personal suggestions that we enjoyed. He was able to assist with off menu items (like the non alcoholic drinks for the kids). The Prosecco popsicle was amazing. The meat and cheese board was great. It was a good selection of textures and tastes for the various offerings. The dessert was amazing. The cheesecake flight with the butter tart was a great choice and we all loved it. I would absolutely return if we were ever back in the area. Parking: Street parking and municipal lot across the street.

One of the worst burgers I ever had no ventilation over stove smoke all through the place ordered my burger with blue cheese came with mozzarella trashy place I Dont recommend this place to anyone health inspector needs to visit

For our first visit, we had a good time but theres a couple things that would keep us from going again. First off the food was mediocre at best and has small selection of dishes. The baked shrimp was very blah and the spinach dip was ok but nothing special. We got cheesecake which I would recommend though Second Id have to say the same about the wine... Very small selection and nothing special. The entertainment and servers kept us there and was the reason we had a good night. A decent place to go but I cant recommend it unfortunately. Maybe we will try again in a couple months.

We have been there once before. We went back for the dill pickle flat bread. It wasnt as good as what I had previously. Not sure if they changed the recipe. It was a long wait. They said they were super busy. We got there and there was only a small handful of people.

Amazing service, thank you to our wonderful waitress! The fancy glitter drink my bff is still writing poems about. She was so happy. But please Fromagerie chef, please please please find a good mac and cheese recipe. I was so disappointed. It was bland, lacked the bit of tang you want in a good M&C, as well as that rich decadent sauciness that makes it a simple yet sexy dish when done right. Any cheese dish you serve should be not just okay, but EPIC. BFFs hubby loved the Ramen soup bowl, but having to pull the tails off shrimp in a soup is weird, and could be dangerous. He had to fish them out to eat them. Maybe put them on a skewer? Just a thought.

Amazing service and food!

Had a great time on the patio tonight. Our server John was the best server I have had at the fromo to date. Personable, attentive, and attention to detail. John went the extra mile to make sure my friends allergies were taken care of and didnt act like it was an inconvenience. The bartender Shannon made a beautiful and tasty drink. Our board was bright and had a fabulous assortment of meats and Cheese. Thanks fromo!

Had a lovely evening at La Formagerie with my husband. We enjoyed our wine, and the G.O.A.T dip was a delight. The Deli, a sandwich paired with Thai salad, was both unique and tasty, making our meal truly special. The live entertainment provided a vibrant touch, and Jons excellent service added to our enjoyable experience. His attentiveness and friendliness set the tone for a wonderful evening. I highly recommend La Formagerie for a delightful dining experience, and well definitely be returning!

We came here tonight looking to try something new. We ve read tons of glowing reviews about the Fromo, so naturally we had to try it for ourselves. There was live music on the patio; unfortunately, lot 84 also had live music but it was obnoxiously loud, and as a result we elected to sit inside. We came specifically for the cheesecake flight, and it did not let us down. We did not know what 4 flavours we would receive. In the end, we got 3 of your more traditional flavours - strawberry, chocolate, and caramel. The 4th one was mango. I have to say, I had my doubts and was skeptical about it until I tasted it. From the first bite I was hooked. While the others were a little fancier (the chocolate had smarties and chocolate covered almonds; the caramel had what I believe was pieces of Kit Kat?) - the mango cheesecake was more of a typical cheesecake with mango purée mixed in. It was light and fresh, and a change from the overpowering sweetness of everything else. The strawberry cheesecake had fresh strawberries as well as a delicious jam mixture. As far as drinks go, the cotton candy bubbly was a sight to behold. Served with actual cotton candy with Prosecco to be poured overtop, it is an Instagramer s dream drink. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. The staff were all in good moods, joking with each other, and very supportive of each other while still proving plenty of attention to the customers. John, our server, was charismatic and entertaining. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our brief experience, and we look forward to returning to try more of their food options in the future.

The place was dirty full of dust, the table sticky and fly everywhere (even inside the fridge) the food was bad with the exception of the feta sauce. The only good thing was the drinks, the lemonade and rose wine was gorgeous!

Cool place to visit. Just unfortunately terrible execution. The service is mediocre, the food is alright if youre getting the ingredients from your fridge, but when you pay that much at high class establishment you kinda expect a higher class of food as well. I liked a few items from the charcuterie board we had but otherwise most of the ingredients were old tasting and dry On another experience with this store through the Too good to go app. The pickup was scheduled for 9pm. I biked over 35 mins in the pouring rain just to get there for my pickup, as I purchased my order the night before and I was very excited. ONLY TO FIND OUT THE STORE WAS CLOSED WHEN I SHOWED UP!!!!! Took more than a week to get my refund. Unfortunate, I wont be recommending this restaurant to anyone in the future.

Place is great! Food was excellent! Presentation was very well also. Did not take pictures unfortunately. I never bring my phone on date night. The space is very nice and subtle. Busy but not packed. Did not like hearing same Tina Turner song play 5x during my visit. Server was occupied at check out which left me annoyed and waiting with my teens to-go container for several minutes. Start to finish was 1h50min for a party of two. Got a free appetizers as there was an error in our order. Memory order and not on notepad. And great reviews for all but server. I will return and hope the next server does better.

Service is was really good. Didnt put shrimps in ramen bowl- although it clearly states in the menu its in there, it was basically a bowl of noodles. Charcuterie board was plentyfull as was the sandwich and salad but then instead of telling us it was close to closing time, they blasted the music. Not surprised it was empty.

Very good food and an ok location on Elgin. Sudbury needs to close off a street to traffic to make for a pleasant patio experience as this one was dirty. The fish bowl cocktails were weak, as in watery. Service is perf3ctly fine and the prices were reasonable except for the cocktail.

The Fromo makes me happy to have tastebuds. Sometimes I get a pizza box full of charcuterie to take home and eat while gaming. Its perfect because everything is bite-sized finger food. The dill pickle flatbread is a must have too. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp at front door, right off of the sidewalk.

I ve really tried to like this place The first few times I had been service was really slow, I figured it was just as I went during busy hours or they didn t have adequate staff members. Things have seemed to change for the worst since covid. I ve gone about four times recently in the past few months to pick up cheese or eat out, and I ve been disappointed each time. They just don t follow mask guidelines. I went to pick up takeout the other day and the kitchen staff member was cooking without a mask on, the server quickly threw one on to put me through and two other employees were maskless just a few metres from me Every. Single. Time. I have gone to eat here since mask guidelines have been implemented there have been staff members prancing around maskless It s so disappointing that a small business in our community doesn t want to keep its community members and customers safe. I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome, and also unsafe eating the takeout I had ordered, considering that safe food handling procedures during the pandemic were obviously not being implemented. I m so disappointed. I honestly felt so uncomfortable and I urge anyone who wants to stay safe during the pandemic to go to a different restaurant. You don t know who is handling your food and where they have been visiting or who they have been seeing, and the fact they aren t wearing a mask and breathing all over my takeout is honestly disgusting.

We decided to treat ourselves to some cheesecake and an assortment of cheeses for our 6th anniversary. We are so glad we did! The service was friendly and everything was packaged beautifully. (We did takeout due to covid). First of all, the strawberry cheesecake was beautiful to look at; covered in strawberries, blackberries and drizzled with just the right amount of chocolate. It had a smooth creamy texture, tasted fresh and not overly sweet; absolutely decadent! I had also requested a variety of cheeses with lots of flavour; unique ones I may not have ever had before. Our waitress made great choices. We had a great time sampling them with red wine to wash it down. It was hard to pick a favourite - the St. Agur maybe? They were all so delicous. Thank you Fromagerie for a fantastic foodie experience, we will be back!

Rude and unhelpful staff

Called to ask to make an order online since they don t accept visa debit online. Someone answered the phone and was very rude to us. We asked if they accept debit over the phone and denied us. So we offered to come to the store to pay with our debit or cash. They responded no we don t accept either. So we said so we can t order anything?.. They responded nope! And hung up the phone!! Then when the own KELS responded to my message on Facebook they responded with our store accepts visa debit and cash After I responded with my experience. KELS completely ignored us. Horrible way to deal with customer service and horrible way to run a business. Shame on you.

The waitress was great, the food was delicious it was like an explosion of taste buds been activated by different sorts of cheeses and meats. If you are parking at a meter make sure you give yourself a good 2 hours. It takes a while to prepare the food.

Felicia our server was fantastic. Not a great selection of cheeses. The cheeses I had were very cold when served, and nice but not great. No options for which cheeses you wish to have. Not a great selection of wine or beer. The menu does not say which beer they have. Ordered a Sleeman and expected Sleeman original or cream ale, but they brought 2.0 The food we did have was good. Patio is along a busy roadway, but at 8pm the traffic was very light. Loved how they set it up with seating and a few swings. Would return and hope they give more options for cheeses and wine/beer.

Food was okay.. Got Fried Cheese curds they where barely warm when we got them. We ordered a charcuterie board that ended up being larger than our table and the cheeses and accompaniments where not very stellar. Drinks where good. And the flatbread we ordered was pretty delicious but only when its warm. The wait staff was friendly but you could clearly tell no one was in the mood to work that night. Aside from mediocre food atmosphere was nice and it was an enjoyable evening.

We had our wedding ceremony, and reception at La Fromagerie on July 24th, 2021 and let me tell you it was amazing. The venue is rustic, and romantic. Food was amazing, and fhe staff working were awesome. Would recommend to anyone looking to book an event!

Cheese and cured meats are expensive in general, but I felt I got value here. Atmosphere was pleasant. A nice evening for us tourists!

Under new ownership, the Fromo has become a bastardization of what it used to be. It has mutated into a subpar millennial hangout more focused on the pretty Instagram aesthetic with its boho-inspired hanging chairs and parlour palms, than on the excellent products and knowledgeable staff of days past. Sweet and unbalanced cocktails with candy boards have replaced vertical flights of Italys finest from the days of yore, all for the sake of general appeal. Service staff is very friendly (hence the extra star), but undertrained. I understand the appeal and I see their success, but as a decade-long industry vet, the new Fromo is nothing I havent seen before. I suggest grabbing a bottle from the vintages section of the LCBO and heading over to Tarinis for cheese and meats. Youll get better product, and save yourself the 400% markup.

Not the type to write reviews, especially not the negative kind but my experience was too bad not to share. Ive heard nothing but good about the Fromo and went here for a date night. Immediately upon being seated inside, where we were one of only three seated tables, we were told that our server would be with us in a moment as there was a situation occuring. Our server was being pulled aside and reprimanded, to which would happen repeatedly in the span of two hours we stayed. Our server whos name we only found out through our receipt after our meal was Eric, we were neglected the whole experience. He often opted to serve the table of girls beside ours and ignore us entirely, going out of his way to do so. Our food was not served to us when it was ready and we were even able to hear the staff preparing food complain about the servers ignoring the indoor seated guests. Resulting in our food being lukewarm at best upon receiving it. The atmosphere of this work place seemed hostile and toxic at best. Everyone appeared frustrated and i got the impression this establishment is very unprofessional and disorganized. The food itself was very mediocre, especially given the price. The charcuterie board i had ordered seemed to taste stale (for lack of better word), as if it had been sitting out prior. The food was lack luster and unappealing. Where the online menu offered a choice of spreads, the server did not bother to ask and walked away before i could get a word in. The sweet potato fries I had ordered came with a nice hair entangled within and the cheese had a bug on it when i recieved it. Throughout our time there we noticed a fly problem that seemed to stem from the area food was being prepped. Ordering was also a task, it was difficult to get a servers attention and we ordered a coffee that we never recieved. Overall the experience really sucked, so much so we couldnt help but laugh about it after. Didnt bother to stay for dessert, thats for sure.

Disappointed with how your staff treated another patrons with rude, entitlement. Went last Saturday night to try out this trendy spot for the first time and was greeted snobbishly by your hostess right off the bat. We kindly requested a spot on the patio where we were seated. The server came by to take our drink order which went fine. While we waited for our drinks, not 20mins later, one of the other patrons flagged down a server to speak about an issue with her salad. Instead of acknowledging the issue with the food, the server began to argue with the patron, telling her in a raised voice I dont work in the kitchen, how would I know that your cheese was frozen!?. The arguing continued, which turned into the server berating the patron in front of all the other seated guests on the patio. It lasted 2-3 mins until another staff member arrived who ended the argument and left with the server who continued to discuss the incident in front of the other seated guest on the patio. It was so unprofessional I couldnt even believe it. For obvious reasons we felt uncomfortable, and elected to leave immediately before our drinks had even hit the table. Doesnt matter how good the food is, Im not going back.

It was the most pleasant experience

Just called the restaurant after trying to place an online order to pick up. Wanted to see if they were open to the public or accepting orders for take out. My first call was answered and hung up on immediately, the second wasnt answered. I then received a TEXT from the restaurant asking what they could do for me? Maybe answer your phone and dont text your potential customers. I responded to their very awkward way of communication stating I was trying to figure out if they were open or taking take out orders and didnt get a response back. Ive never seen this happen in all my years of customer service. communicate with your clientele in the same manner they communicate with you - a phone call requires a phone call, an email - to an email, a text is for your friends, family and co-workers; Not for a stranger trying to spend their money in your establishment. Good luck, is all I can say.

Really expensive for things that don t deserved. 9$ for a small side of cold fried. We ve ask mayo, It cost us 2$ extra and the mayo arrived 20 minutes after we ve order it. The service was disappointing. And 7$ for a bottle of sleeman

Passing by to install a projector in their window for an artistic project, the pleasant smell forced me to stay for dinner. I followed my waitresss recommendations and it was excellent, the portions were perfect. I even indulged in the cheesecake. Simply delicious. The atmosphere is cool and relaxed, just like the decor. I strongly advise it.

Everytime I visit The Fromo they have been consistent with delivering original and delicious food, they have a one of a kind atmosphere and polite staff. The only negative aspect is that their indoor dining is closed.

La Fromagerie is a must try restaurant when you re in Sudbury or Downtown. Their food is great, they have awesome stuff as well as amazing owner that goes above and beyond. The ambiance of The Fromo is amazing, it is a perfect spot for a date/family time or even just for lunch(wine) date with friends. They have an amazing selections of cheeses. Their garlic butter shrimp is to die for and their salads are delicious and fresh . I love their desserts selections as well as their drinks. You can see the creativity aside from the yumminess. I recommend the fromo 100%.

Amazing service. I love going to the Fromo every Wednesday with my bestie. There is always such an authentic and crisp ambiance to this place; so much so, every week I look forward to Wednesdays noon hour. I have very specific dietary issues and I find the owner very helpful and accommodating--she suggests menu items that I can eat. I am.happy the fromo exists. What s not to like about The Fromo, from the moment me and my group hit the patio we were met with nothing but smiles and positive vibes. The menu was tricky as everything looked so good so we enjoyed some drinks as well as some different flights that were suggested and we weren t disappointed! As the smells from other customers food started to hit the patio we started ordering a little bit of everything. (My absolute favorite was the French Onion Soup and garlic shrimp) we were checked on regularly and nothing was overlooked. A special shout out to the owner that supported her team well into the late evening. We will for sure be back to enjoy again and the take away boxes were a huge hit around the fire later that evening. Well done Le Fromagerie Cest magnifique!

Incredibly disheartened by this establishment. The owners have posted volatile, racist, and otherwise hateful things and whenever folks, myself included, have attempted attempted engage them in conversation about how and why this is problematic and steps to take for accountability in the process, they have silenced, ignored, and tried to bribe with BOGO latte coupons. Unprofessional, rude, and blatantly racist.

I hosted an event for 45 people. Grazing table! The setup and service was outta this world! Timed to perfection, beautiful, tasty spread. Great time had by all. Marlena was welcoming and extremely helpful with all our needs. Kelsey managed all the details remotely, phenomenal organizational skills! I highly recommend for your next event.

Purchased the cheese advent calendar. Good idea but very disappointing execution. Cheeses were hard and dry by the first week. Definitely not worth the over $100 price for 24 tiny pieces of dried out cheese.

Good atmosphere, with a bit of a hipster vibe. We started with splitting the charcuterie board which was good, although people sat after us received theirs before us, and then when it came it had no meat, to which they promptly corrected; by throwing some on top. need more Genoa capicolla and rolled meats varieties to finish it off imo. It also comes with sliced baguette some crunchy some soft some white some whole wheat with no option and 2 crackers. The fruit was a nice touch but overall for what is there it is overpriced. (I did enjoy the little flag signs for the cheeses). We also split the ramen noodle bowl to which I have zero complaints it was delicious.(although we had ordered the ramen bowl and the hearty quinoa bowl, they also messed up this order, but we chose not to wait for it and Im kind of glad was quite full regardless). For drinks I decided to try the old fashioned specialized on their menu and the wife had a flight of wine samplers. Old fashioned was good although an unusual color unsure if bitters were used.., wine flight we enjoyed but had to guess what we were drinking as the wines brought out were not explained until we asked about it (also no descriptions on the menu about flavor profiles, nor are you allowed to choose which wines you get. ) live entertainment started at about 8pm and was nice to add to the atmosphere although had a country artist which was not to my liking, but also didnt go with the atmosphere at all.

It was really good food and the restaurant is very nice on the inside. Service was alittle slow probably because there was only one server during the dinner rush but it was all a very good dinner and night

My daughter brought a cheese platter home yesterday. We had a feast. All was good. The only problem is that we loved some of the cheeses but we re not sure what they are. It would be great if they were listed with the packaging so we can get more.

Buddha bowl was gross and mushy so was the ramen. Both were flavorless and the prices were way too high. Paid 14 $ for 6 shrimp appetizer in garlic butter. Absolutely ridiculous.

We called and they gave us a reservation and said it was no problem for us to come for 19:25. When we got there we still had to wait in line in order to talk to someone about our reservation and get seated. They seated us 15 min after our reservation time, which we could ve overlooked because we understand it s difficult to go out to eat during the pandemic. Once they seated us inside, where things were barely 2 meters apart, they gave us menus and then left us sitting there for 40 mins! No one came by to offer us a drink or explain or apologize, we were simply ignored for 40mins. During that time they served another table that was seated 2 tables after us. We finally had enough at 20:20 so we got up and left, the servers saw and again no one did anything. Awful experience, would not recommend unless you want to be ignored for 40 mins.

Amazing choices, great atmosphere

What an truly unique experience with great food, sips, and staff! We visited for a lunch charcuterie and fishbowl Friday and enjoyed it so much, we stayed a wee bit longer and indulged in Mason Jar desserts and cafe Lattes. If I lived closer I would visit every day at this hipster delish must eat location.

Not what it used to be. This place used to have a wide selection of cheeses. This unfortunately is no longer the case. Friendly staff though.

Fun, easy going, rustic atmosphere I cant get enough of. Super friendly service and all the cheese you could ask for. Different specials and a half priced app day seriously couldnt ask for much better! Love la fromagerie

Very good experience, we took the special cheese/charcuterie sampler with a wine sampler.. for 38$ + 13$ and it was a lot of food. Our waitress was very nice and the place is cozy. Having a French background and the restaurant having a French name, I would ve liked a couple French cheeses on the plate, But the cheeses we had were also very good.

Good food and service

Obviously, by the name, they sell cheese. The menu looks okay. I just dont like that when you order a charcuterie board, you cant choose the types of cheese or meats you get. Also, if you order a flight of wine, its the bartenders choice. Most places Ive been to before, offer flights from certain regions, or flights that are paired with your food order. For me, it was okay, but I dont think Id go there again if it was my choice.
