Global beers, creative pizzas & bar bites are offered at this chill eatery with a lively patio.
We had an amazing dinner last night with our 2 young sons before the Wolves game. Miller was an incredible server. Kind, caring, and charismatic with attention to detail and our enjoyment! Highly recommend
Tonight myself and my two young boys had such a wonderful experience at the laughing Buddha! We went prior to the Santa Claus parade and not only was the food amazing, the staff was incredible. When the food was brought to our table the person who delivered it had a conversation with my son and nephew and played into their little game. Then, when it was time to pay and leave for the Santa Claus parade, our waitress helped my youngest- aged 2- put on his winter gear to get outside while I paid and gathered my things. These little things truly do not go unnoticed and made my dining experience exceptional. Thank you to the wait staff tonight, I will now gladly choose the Buddha over any other restaurant downtown.
I recently dined at Laughing Buddha restaurant over the weekend and ordered the Peach and Cherry Salad, only to find mold on the peaches. When I brought this to the staff's attention, the server removed my dish but did not offer an apology. She returned with a menu and suggested I choose something else, but mentioned that the kitchen couldn’t expedite my new order. Given that we were headed to a hockey game shortly after dinner and had already waited a considerable amount of time for our first meal, I felt pressed to select something that wouldn’t take long to prepare. I ended up eating my meal alone, as my husband and son had finished theirs by the time my dish arrived. The absence of a proper apology and any form of compensation was disappointing. Overall, I felt that this situation could have been handled much better. Unfortunately, I don’t plan to return to Laughing Buddha in the future.
Truffle fries are so goood, and also they have the deep fried pickles down to a science. Great service, they were able to accommodate our bigger group of people. Would definitely return.
We were so lucky to find this place for vegetarian and vegan food. It was super tasty, a great choice. The “Loaded Hummus with Veggies” was perfect. They also have falafel and other veggie sandwiches. The staff is super friendly as well. You can watch the trains approaching and leaving Sudbury’s train station which is just 100m away.
Amazing service especially when we went an hour before closing! The staff was incredible. It was my gf’s birthday and they made it so special. Been here multiple times before and have never been disappointed.
"I feel that this incident, caused by the manager, was an example of discrimination!" Nine of us arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 pm, hoping to dine on the patio. However, we were informed that there were no available tables, but if we waited for an hour, one would become available. Deciding to stroll around town to pass the time, we returned an hour later only to find that there was still no space on the patio, so we reluctantly accepted an indoor table. During this time, a group of seven patrons who had been seated outside left, leaving their table vacant. We requested to occupy their table and asked only to add two extra chairs, but the manager refused, insisting that area outside was only for parties of seven. Disappointed, we settled for indoor seating. However, upon leaving, we noticed that another group of ten was now seated at the same table we had requested earlier!!! When I brought this discrepancy to the manager's attention, they merely offered excuses, claiming that the customers had seated themselves without notifying the staff. How is it possible for ten customers to occupy a table in a restaurant and add three extra chairs to it without notifying the staff???? I couldn't help but feel that this incident was an example of discrimination. Regarding the food, while the vegan pizza was enjoyable, the Miso Bowl could have been tastier. Additionally, it seemed that the restaurant was understaffed, as the employees were rushed and struggled to keep up with orders, resulting in delays and difficulty obtaining service. Ultimately, I believe the manager bears responsibility for these shortcomings.
Hidden Gem of a place with both indoor and outdoor seating. Gabriella was attentive and pleasant. Appetizer cool beans which deep fried peas was great and went well with the alcohol Wife had the smash burger which was juicy and the fries were fresh cut. I had the miso soup bowl which was served fresh.
Bring your jacket, baby its cold outside... And not that warm inside. Food and service is great Food : 4/5
Service was great very friendly. Food was ok. Atmosphere was nice minus tge big bright light when the kitchen had food ready.
I was in a heated political discussion with a almost former friend and Alexi swooped in with aplomb and neutralized our venomous exchange with her compassionately neutral political agenda. My friend and I were floored with her professional ambivalence and fair minded outlook. Cinco estallas!!
Great choices for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Really fresh and tasty.
The Laughing Buddha? More like the Waiting Buddha. We sat there for 20 minutes, laughing nervously as no one came to serve us. Eventually, we gave up on the enlightenment of good service and headed to the Townhouse instead, where they were more than happy to take our $140. At least they weren t laughing all the way to the bank.
Nice atmosphere and a wide selection of beers on tap and in the bottle. I remove two stars because their draught beer was served too warm on a couple different taps.
Great local spot with awesome food! Never disappointed. Food
My favorite place to eat.
Always great here!! Food is delicious and atmosphere is soo pretty on the patio!
Good food
This place was good! It was a little busy, but the service was pretty slow but the waiters were super nice and accommodating. I got the pork bao sandwich and side miso salad. It was okay, the pork was pretty tough. Two people I was with got the Luigi pizza and the vegetarian one, they were good! There are a few things on their menu I d like to try, but I wouldn t go back to get what I had.
Its always an incredible meal and an awesome atmosphere. The service can get a little slow at times, but its a restaurant. Things happen.
Its yummy. Can be very busy on a weekend evening when there is a hockey game or a show.
Love this place. Service is top-notch. Even when the staff are slammed, they apologize and acknowledge the longer wait times. The food and creative cocktails are worth it. Shout out to Reegan, Fiona, Kennedi, Emma, Joe, Kai and Hailey for always making everyone feel welcome. Special shout out to Sydney for her exceptional service. Keep killing it, team. I recommend this place... trust me, Im a doctor.
Food and restaurant was great. Patio had a great feel. Will definitely go again when in Sudbury.
What a gem in the Sudbury area. We were visiting and needed something for my wife who has many food allergies, and not only did the waiter go above and beyond what we expected. The food was excellent with so many choices. And they took the time to get to know you! Cool patio
Great place to eat and meet with friends. Our waitress was very patient with my indecisiveness. She was great! Unfortunately I cant recall her name.
Jeff is the best!!!!!! He was the greatest host!! Our food on time, drinks on time and he is sooooo nice!!!!!!
We are here as a band performing for Up Here Festival and we were racially profiled - we came in after driving 5 hours and wanted to grab a bite before our show- none of us had a single sip of alcohol yet we were told that they couldn t serve us as they had to make the tough decision to cut us off (despite completely being sober and exuding no signs of intoxication) after reading reviews it appears this is a racist establishment and now it makes sense.
It should be called the Starving Buddha! Very slow service and rat traps in full view on the patio. Come on...please screen out the rat traps at least! Take some pride in the restaurant appearance! Very disappointed.
For good vibes :) but not for food. I had the nachos, disappointed. It was bland, soggy and tasteless. Drinks are just alright.
I normally dont leave reviews however one of the worst meals i have had in a long time. I have been to the Buddha a dozen times , i use to go to the Only Cafe which was amazing and then the Buddha when it closed. I will start with the positive.. the atmosphere was nice, an outdoor patio on a nice summer night cant beat it. That was the only good thing. FOOD- we ordered 2 burgers, a plate of nachoes and some kettle chips for 3 people and left most of it. The burgers were burnt, which wasnt a suprise because they were pounded so flat and mishaped that it would be hard to not burn them. The buns were hard and the fries were ok , not super hot and covered in spices which my 7 yr old did not like but thats a picky kid, the fries were decent. The nachoes were the worst part. A huge mound of uncooked peppers and purple onions on a mass of melted cold cheese that wasnt stuck to any of the chips. Raw purple onions cubed under rubbery cold cheese ( the cheese is most likely pre shredded and just sits there until melted and then sits again) Kettle chips - cooked to death ( not crispy outside with a softer middle ) and covered with a seasoning salt ( like covered i could spread it with my fingers) and just gross. We sent back one burger and the kettle chips and what came back wasnt any better. SERVICE- our server seemed completely disinterested and seemed to accept the food was bad like he had seen it many times before. I still left him 15% because i was a server for years and i know its not the easiest job. Our bill with no alcohol was $100. I ordered a virgin lemonade it was $9 and sour, not good at all. Later that night my daughter got sick and had the runs the whole next day. My husband burped up his burnt burger all night. That $100 could have went in the garbage and we would have all felt better.
Sydney always knows what we want to drink and has a smile her face, love coming here every Thursday, cant wait for the next.
The Luigi is so good. Every time. And Im enjoying a nice buzz right now so apologies for forgetting his name but our server tonight was a force of positivity.
Was visiting from out of town and had my doggo, so decided to do take out. Was super excited for this place based on reviews and I would say it was good! Not the best I ve had but not bad. The patio did look like it had great vibes so I m sad I didn t end up eating in. I ordered the crispy green beans app and the falafel bowl. Both were really tasty and I loved the crispy chickpeas in my bowl. The proportions are pretty small for the price. I think my bowl only had 3 small falafels and despite having an app and the bowl, I was still hungry after. My only other feedback was that I had placed an online order well in advanced with a time but I still had to wait another 15 mins. The staff were friendly though and really apologetic.
There were no people around and yet it took forever for our server to show up. When we were ready to order, she said, Ill be back, I have another table to check. Then got out orders. Food was lousy. Hamburger for $20 each, Wendys makes better burgers. Then the fries were hard. Not crispy at all. It tasted like it was recycled. The chicken clubs bread was hard as rock. It was 12 midnight, I can understand that it must be a long day for everyone but they close at 2am, so they should give their customers a decent meal. The food was also pricey on top of it being lousy. Never again would I go within its four walls.
Shoutout to Regan wasn t sure what to drink and she created a cocktail for me, it was awesome!
Very liberal LGBTQ atmosphere. You could tell our server with the nose ring hates men. Asked for a spicy dip for my pizza and she brought me a bottle of Franks. Do not recommend.
Great place to go. Love the back court yard, great place to go on warm summer nights.
Anthony is the best!
Vegetarian options: While the Laughing Buddha has a great menu over all, I have to say they have taken vegetarian choices to a whole new level. Not as an after thought but pallett pleasing flavours that excite the taste buds. Emma was wonderful from taking our reservation to seating, suggesting and serving. Thank you so much. We will definitely visit next time we are in town.
One of my favorites in downtown Sudbury
Fantastic place to grab some food and drinks. Beautiful patio and atmosphere. The food tastes amazing and the service is impeccable.
My server recommended the Dragonfruit Cosmo and was bang on! Thanks Mikayla! .. it was delicious great food and service today!
Always a Good Experience and Food
I will never be back to this place again. I took my daughter here and we were sitting for half an hour and the waitress just walked by us three or four times I am so disappointed. Didnt even ask us for drinks at the beginning.
I ordered Zen Za Pizza and Caesar salad. The salad was good but the pizza was tasteless. It could have more sauce for sure. Also, we could not get a table in the patio even though there were empty tables and despite our request before getting on the wait list. Not sure, but I am guessing it could be something related to being an outsider! Overall food was good but it was not a pleasant experience.
Discrimination and slow service! After waiting for more than hour to sit in the patio, they said they cant accommodate 9 people in the patio and we had to sit inside. The food was good but it took so long for everything! And that was funny to see a group of 10 people sitting outside on our way out. If its a rule, it should apply to everyone!!!
The managements discrimination is glaringly evident here. If youre not a local, its best to steer clear of this place. While passing through Sudbury, we decided to dine here. We requested a patio spot for nine people from the waitress. She informed us that they couldnt accommodate us immediately but suggested returning in an hour. Despite our fatigue, we agreed and explored the city before returning as instructed. However, upon our return, we were told that the patio was only for groups of seven, and we were directed inside to a dimly lit area. Despite the hardworking waitstaff, it was apparent they were understaffed. Our order took an hour to arrive, and the pizza was lukewarm. Upon leaving, we noticed they seated a group of ten on the same patio, seemingly because they were locals. When we questioned this discrepancy, they blamed the customers, saying they rearranged everything. This experience left us incredibly disappointed with this establishment.
The food we ordered came after 1.5 hours. Also, it was cold and when we complained about the same to the waitress who was entertaining us, started being rude and offered us to talk to the kitchen manager. We waited for the kitchen manager to come but they didn t show up. All of a sudden she brought a bill while we were having dinner and said your food is discounted. Overall, the experience was really bad. Food and wait was not worth it.
Nice bar with great food and music
Legitimately the worst service I have ever had in my entire life . This place is ran by children who are burdened by anyone who comes in expecting basic service . Sunday night April 7th my girlfriend and I stopped in for a drink . The staff is all hanging out like some kind of frat house . Wait 5 minutes to even be asked if we want something , and the bartender proceeds to make my drink ( a quick pour on tap) then , one of the staff asks for a margarita and he drops what he s doing to make it for her . Leaving my girlfriend empty handed so long I went to the bathroom and came back and her drink still wasn t made . The bartender is on his phone literally in his own little world smiling and laughing at the screen with zero consideration that he is AT WORK. He s eating chicken with his hands wiping his grubby fingers on some dirty paper towel and also putting his hands down his pants earlier. The drink my girl ordered had some kind of dehydration citrus as a topper for the cocktail and if you looked at the jar that he was keeping them in it was COVERED in pure SCHMOOTZ. Crusty and disgusting , the bar surface was sticky and gnarly . When I asked for me bill this little puke had the audacity to say thank you for your patience . Which absolutely enraged me bc he knew he was being absolutely unacceptable. When I saw that the 2 drinks came to almost $26 . I absolutely SMASHED that NO TIP button and GTFO of there FOREVER. DONT go here it s ran by children. I m surprised people are not getting sick from this place .
Recless is my favourite bartender ever. I recently moved to Sudbury and he made me feel so welcomed. I now enjoy being in Sudbury based on the atmosphere he brings.
Came here last night Server was friendly she was doing her thing We ordered 3 apps and 4 pizzas We asked for water and soda waters We re only brought out 3 pizzas instead of 4 No big deal probably miss heared us . A proper server usually confirms order before leaving table . Brussel sprouts burnt to a crisp no truffle oil or Parmesan on them 11.50 for them cost them around 1.75 to make . Waiters need more training and need a floor manager to catch these things Tipped bc I work in the industry . Honestly just clean the place tell your staff to smile and laugh and the rest is easy For the chef and cooks back there just serve food that you would say wow I want to try that And if it s burnt make another one . We spent 150.00 and we will not be going back And once a customer doesn t come back you failed
Used to great but last two times Ive been the Slice of Brie I got on the Brie LT was thin enough to shave with Seems like they are cheaping out lately
Nice place if you like trying different kinds of beer. The bar tender was very pleasant and friendly which helps when you have never been here. I ordered pizza and it was very good.
Best hamburgers in town, sweet potato fries are homemade and variety of aolies, I have maple bacon aoli with my sweet potatoe fries and garlic aoli. On my burger and my husband had the Chipotle, everything was amazing
Absolutely disappointed. Called to make a reservation for a Thursday evening and they told me I could reserve a table between 5-7. I then ordered my meal and specifically told them a garlic butter base as I m allergic to tomatoes. My pizza came with tomato sauce on it. The waitress then questioned me. I know my allergies and I communicated that right before I ordered. They didn t even apologize for their error. Didn t offer a coupon or nothing. I know Boston Pizza will give you your meal free if they make an error. This is an allergy and needs to be taken more seriously.
I love this place!!! Missed going here since we moved from Sudbury.Sad they dont have the brocoldorf salad anymore...but the chickpea is so good too! Great place.
Just have to start off by saying that although the food tasted good, the experience as a whole was rather disappointing. We walked in and place seemed decent, we were greeted by the bartender and she seemed lovely and happy to be there. Waiter Jon Dan as our receipt stated brought us to the dining area and barely spoke to us. Only to get or food order. No friendliness no smile nothing m, this guy seems like he hates his job let alone his life. Wait this was not too long but just enough time for us to notice how gross this place was, dark, dusty. Place could use a good cleaning especially in the middle of the dining room and the ceiling fan. Maybe a smile from the staff and fresh coat of paint to brighten up the place. We read some other reviews about this place and we did NOT see any mice! Lots of traps and ultrasonic deterrent plugs ins so nice to see they are trying to get that under control. However after working in the restaurant industry for 5+ years I can see the potential this place could have with better management.
Came here to hopefully have a nice lunch with my wife as we re from out of town The atmosphere left a lot to be desired; for a historic building the upkeep seemed bare none, paint peeling off the walls and everything was dusty, not to mention there wasn t a single piece of artwork or anything to even look at on the walls. The food was nothing to write home about especially for the price, $60 for tiny portioned burger w/ fries, ruben w/ salad and approximately 5 fried pickles for a whopping $11.50 and we didn t even order any drinks. The service was a great example of why servers complain so much about not getting tipped! Jon Don (per the receipt; because the server didn t even actually introduce himself) seemed to be lacking any will to live let alone actually provide good customer service! Never said more than 5 words above library speaking level, of course until watching me pay and proceed to not tip where he gave a lovely have a nice day . Maybe this place would be okay for a drink on the patio in summer but we certainly would not come back here to find out. Dining with mouse traps littered around does not create a very welcoming experience either Dietary restrictions: if you like meat, this isn t the place to come
Super service, devious food, lots of variety. Great atmosphere! Food
I ordered pizza to go. The price was fair. It was ready on time. Easily one of the best pizzas Ive ever had. Im not saying that the establishment was dingy and dirty because I dont think it was dirty. The place could use a little facelift. The server was fantastic. I would recommend this place for the food. Parking: Parking not to much of an issue Wheelchair accessibility: Not much of an issue to get a wheelchair in
Great food, good atmosphere but my server with a beanie and tattoos was incredibly rude, and inhospitable. It was strange to feel like a burden for food and service you re paying for.
Came in for a few drinks and appetizers with some friends.. Once we finished eating we saw anywhere from 3-6 mice running all around the dining area. One ran towards the kitchen area & then disappeared. This grossed all of us out so we got up to pay immediately & told our server about the mice - with her response being theyre really contained here. How are they contained with them running all over the dining room?? Extremely unsettling and still feeling sick thinking about it the next day. Plenty of other reviews saying the same thing so it doesnt seem like theyre doing much to control the problem.
Ordered online, great service!!! Absolutely love the food!!!
Fiona was our bartender when me and the bf had a staycation. She is absolutely amazing and make everyone feel comfortable. Love going to the laughing Buddha and the townhouse when she s working. She know both menus inside and out. Wheelchair accessibility: The laughing Buddha is accessible to everyone. Love that for Sudbury.
This restaurant is located in the heart of Sudbury. When driving on Elgin dont blink or you might drive past it and you dont want to miss out on this hidden gem. When we arrived we were greeted by amazing hostess who showed us to our seat. Then overcomes our waitress Fiona She is pleasant and delightful with an amazing personality and so she takes our order helping us with some great suggestions along the way. Then comes the food. This was by far the most amazing sandwich I have ever had. Your thinking ...sandwich really??? This was not just any sandwich. It had bre , pruschotto , grill chicken and homemade garlic aeoli. This clubhouse sandwich was made unique in their own special way. The Laughing Buddha has gained a special place in my stomach and they have gain in return customer for life. Im just upset that I have not discovered this place sooner. Thank you Fiona and thank you Laughing Budha
Was extremely disappointed. Not sure if they were out of salt or the cook is just afraid of it. The pouting curds and gravy was fine but no seasoning on the fries. Mentioned it to the server and had great hopes for the dinner. The chicken breast had no seasoning of any kind on it. No salt, pepper or herbs or sauce of any kind. Shame, the server was awesome as was the atmosphere. Hope it was just an off night.
Stopped in for Lunch during the week, took over an hour to get our food and we ordered a sandwich and the hummus! Had to leave to pay extra for parking. Good thing I was on holidays and not rushing back to work! Terrible
Had a smash burger and it was pretty good.
Awesome, sometimes the music was a little bit high
Very rude owner. Horrible place.
Excellent service. Loved our recommendations from our lovely server. Delicious pizza. Wonderful to share a good meal and conversation. Will definitely be back Food : 4/5
Had the truffle fries and deep fried pickles with 2 mojitos. It was all delicious and our waitress was lovely. Great spot for good conversation.
Really enjoyed our visit here. We booked our team dinner here when in Sudbury for a tournament. I m picky and healthy options are a must and I don t like a plate of lettuce! The Buddha bowl had tons of quinoa and hummus and all good things it was delicious. It was a group of 27 and I don t think anyone had a bad meal and the service was great!! Super happy since we were coming in from out of town.
Greatest place in town. Great choice of beers and the food menu is awesome and diverse
Enjoyed our visit here, excellent food and ambience. Staff were nice and polite, we had the nachos with chicken, however didn t find much chicken in it, regardless it was tasty. The fried dill pickle and the llama Rama pizza was amazing. Good selection of beers on tap and Highly recommend this place. Cheers
one of my favourite places but my last visit was horrible for service. server never checked in on during our appetizer or meal, never got any refills on our water, she also forgot my beer but only noticed when we had to flag her down for the bill. barely an apology and did the even offer to get it to me afterwards?? super disappointed because i love this place but this was brutal :(
Good food, nice ambience, friendly staff and lots of vegetarian options. Some of it is a little pricey for what you get, but otherwise, I like it here for meeting up with friends with dietary restrictions. Edit: The last few times I went, I noticed rats and mice in the establishment, so I decided to lower my score.
Very small space but cute.
Under staff for our large group
Great food, amazing music and a beautiful view with AE
Had some drinks on a rainy day. Cool atmosphere, a touch dark. And wasnt any music in the dinning area. Overall we had a nice experience though
Great food and excellent service. Would highly recommend! The chicken club was delicious!
Food and service was excellent.
Eff this. Waaay too expensive for portion sizes and quality. Asiago dip, 4$ extra for a smidgen of diced peppers, onions and bacon? Yeah, yeah, nice atmosphere and all that, but the food prices are bonkers for quality and portion size. No thank you
Wasnt sure if id like this type of restaurant, but was it ever great food , excellent service. Id def go back again.
Best spot in Sudbury for a great meal, good vibe and awesome deserts. Lots of option for gluten free and kid friendly
Great waitress, good service food poor and rodents in the restaurant definitely would never use again
this is my first opinion in a restaurant and the opinion is bad me and my class we came to make a review for an evaluation of a restaurant because there was no tablecloth firstly or sauce on the table etc secondly the price is not the same price as on the menu my friend ordered an 8$ cheesecake and she receives it in 10$. I took a 2$ ice tea and they deserve a 3$ soda soap at the end my class and I were shocked and disappointed because the waitress takes the tips she lets us choose if we want or not she chooses for us she takes 0.18% plus tax for example me it was 23+2 tax she put me up to $30.67 it was too much we were very shocked. I hope the restaurant will change waitress or do something to improve it because if we hadnt planned more we will stay there without paying
Went here for a class trip with my school for our cooking class. Server was nice until it came time for us to pay. She force tipped everyone 18% of there meal while proceeding to say that if she didn t do so she d get nothing. Also when came time to get our takeout containers we had to go grab them ourselves after asking multiple times. Menu prices where wrong compared to prices on receipt and no action were taken towards it. Bathrooms where gross and full of graffiti. Do not suggest eating here.
The patio and the food are so-so , they dont have many people and despite that the customer service doesnt exist, The bathroom is dirty and smells very bad. That place has potential but they dont seem to care
Food s amazing. And good service from the manager. I waited long for my food and found out the ticket went missing or something, it s understandable because it was super busy there at that time. But super surprisingly, the manager went out to say sorry and give me a gift card for the inconvenience! I also work in F&B industry and this service is beyond amazing! Super worth it. And also best chicken club i ve ever had! :)
Been to the Buddha many times. Food and drinks never disappoint. Love the patio, best in the city. The service every time is disappointing. Always having to track down the server for anything or end up waiting 30mins for a bill. Seems they do not have enough staff. Bathrooms could also use an update. Overall, good restaurant and I will keep returning!
Being able to stop by and have some drinks with my dog on the patio. Love this place. Such friendly service
Service was always slow now its beyond slow unless you have a few hours to burn go elsewhere
Wish I could leave a review but after waiting, sitting at a table for 15 minutes I decided to leave since I still wanted dinner. That was bad.
Great place for university students
This place is amazing! delivery or in-house
Generous vegan menu and beautiful outdoor terrace!
I visited with a large group. We made a reservation ahead of time and were provided an outdoor space suitable for our group. It was quite busy while we were there, so it took a while for food to come out and for our server to return each time. The food was great, as always.
Just stopped in for drinks. Good vibe. Menu looked intriguing - will try the food next time.
Amazing patio, great good, and so many drinks to choose from
First time, great experience. Cute patio, great service, the pizzas were amazing for a fair price. Many drinks to choose from. I would definitely come back.
The irl who was in the store, manager or friend of the bartender... was extremely rude and I would never go there again if my life depended on it!
Great food and music, definitely recommend
First time at Laughing Buddha. Food is amazing. I am celiac and the pizza is made in a separate pizza oven. Emma, our server, was so helpful. The dill pickle pizza was amazing!!!
The pizza was delicious but service left something to be desired. We tried out the Leo Luigi and dill pickle pizzas and both were great thin crust pizzas. Not sure what the cause was but it felt like we were forgotten about after being seated for about 20 minutes. The atmosphere was nice and would recommend the patio for families. Atleast for me I found that the music is a little loud inside for conversation, but the bar and everything else looked modern.
First time visiting The Laughing Buddha and we had an amazing lunch. We sat out on the patio and really enjoyed the ambiance and the decor. Highlights included the porch lantern cocktail and the olive tapenade appetizer with warm baked pita. Service was great and prices were very reasonable. Lots of great vegetarian and vegan options as well. A great spot to visit in Sudbury! Dietary restrictions: Great options for vegan and gluten free dining. Wheelchair accessibility: Patio is accessible.
It was so friendly and nice thank you.
Great place to have food and drinks. Great atmosphere but had a hard time finding our waitress to pay our bill. Overall great service. We had a blast for our 28th wedding anniversary. Thank you!
Hidden gem in downtown Sudbury. My family and I were looking for a patio to have lunch as we passed through Sudbury and the Laughing Buddha came up with some fantastic reviews so we thought we d give it a try. The atmosphere on the patio was excellent, tucked between two buildings, massive trees giving you coverage from the sun. I could see us there on a Friday/Saturday evening having drinks and listening to some live music. The food was fantastic, everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. I had the Buddha Bowl and really loved it, the dressing made the salad. I wished the chicken was grilled a bit more but otherwise great menu item. Hubby had the falafel wrap and he said it was moist and flavourful. My kids has the pizza but didn t love that it had cheddar and Asiago cheese on it. I had asked if we could just do mozzarella cheese and pepperoni but came out with all three, which was a bit disappointing as it was one of the only items On the menu that was really kid friendly. They also had the sweet potato fries and enjoyed them. All in all, thought this restaurant was great and would visit again (without the kids). Kid-friendliness: I wouldn t say it wasn t kid friendly but they don t have a kids menu and the selection on items that kids might eat is very small.
Was craving hummus since leaving Toronto, found this local gem. Excellent food. Drinks looked amazing. We are literally planning our next trip with a stop in Sudbury so we can go back here. Worth the few minute drive off the highway if you are passing through. Vegetarian options: I am not vegetarian, but wholly enjoyed my vegetarian meal. A nice change from chain-restaraunts while travelling. Parking: We arrived at the start of the dinner rush, and there was plenty of parking available right out front (free after 5pm)
This patio is my happy place! I love the food and the atmosphere is incomparable. I took my son there to celebrate getting his braces off and we got the best seat in the house! He brought his chess set and we played while he enjoyed his deep fried pickles and his fancy virgin cocktail . They also have plenty of Gluten-free options (although I wouldnt recommend for Celiacs because of cross-contamination, but for gluten intolerance Ive rarely had issues)
The food is always so delicious and the patio is beautiful!
Went here for dinner but ended up only having appetizers, took long for the apps but in fairness it was busy. Was not overly great but it was a good place for a quick beer.
Good food but I found it expensive for the quantity you received.
It was amazing service and food just thought being accosted for a tip when I clearly was going to, was rude. Like c mon I was on business and this is how our group is treated. 1.5/10 maybe have a personality test before hiring bc I know you know ..she is tragic It s sad..privileged white people accost native people when we re just having a good time, especially inviting people to come eat at this restaurant thinking it was cute but we were just treated differently. Definitely shows how Sudbury stays trash.
If youre looking for vegetarian or vegan food, look no further. Lip smacking food, amazing taste, beautiful ambience and quick service. 10/10 recommend. Vegetarian options: Falafel sandwich and house made hummus are a must have.
Love the food and the back patio is a highlight. Service was a bit slow though I understand that they were low-staffed.
Had an amazing time. Food was fantastic, and the music was AWESOME. The bar tender Reegan was playing some of the best music I ve heard in a restaraunt. Incredible taste in music. Highly recommend going here.
Good place to eat and hangout with friends. Patio is very nice. Parking is available in front and working hours is good.
Always love hanging out here! Pizzas are delish and almost everything else as well! Shoutout for the Long Island Ice Tea I had! Yum yum!
Used to be better back in the days when they had more beer options, but still one of the better bar/restaurants in Sudbury.
Nice ambiance, tasty food and enough seating, I would recommend it for people who go to Sudbury. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian food selection
Food was great, watching mice run around the restaurant after eating, crawling over unsuspecting people s feet was not great. Awful mouse infestation. To be clear, I dined inside the backroom of the restaurant, not the patio. Told the waiter about the mice issue and all that was said was It s a 100 year old building .
We always have a 5-star experience at the Buddha. This last visit I had a couple different beer and the feta dip. All was delicious!
I had a great night. Loved the food, the service and the atmosphere.
The dill pickle pizza sooo good
Cant complain, service is over the top.
We werent planning to stop at Laughing Buddha but Im super glad we decided to stop here. The servers were super friendly we just had a couple of drinks but honestly were some of the top drinks of the night. Will definitely be heading back soon to try the food and will 10 out of 10 recommend this place to anyone.
Bad experience The mouse plays around I feel disgusting Atmosphere
Everything was amazing. I love the vibe on the patio with the propane fire pit tables.
I stopped here for dinner because I have heard from a few people that it was good. From my personal experience, the food was not great for what it was priced. The place is very chic, and the atmosphere is cozy. I know a popular item on the menu is the pickle pizza (Ive heard from many that they enjoy it), I did not. I would stilll recommend the establishment as it was a positive experience
Great Pizza!
I mean great food hands down but the millions of mouses common:/
Came here for dinner based on a friend s recommendation. The first thing that caught my attention was the extensive use of Buddha as part of their branding/image yet the restaurant serves a lot of meat. Still, there are several good vegetarian and vegan options. The restaurant has a strong Gen Z hipster vibe and is staffed solely by the disaffected youths of Tik Tok. The food was alright. Ordered a couple of apps and a few pizzas. No complaints but nothing remarkable. Prices seemed fair given current inflation. Service was slow, inattentive, and awkward despite the large number of servers. (No napkins, long wait to get the bill, long intervals between reordering drinks.) I cannot say if I d come back as I am from out of town, but maybe.
It was awesome with top notch services
There was a mouse running around the restaurant. We were going to dine in but decided to take the food to go after seeing the mouse. Food is good but can t shake the gross feeling.
Overall I had a pretty good experience. The Laughing Buddha has a pretty creative menu that includes vegan and gluten free opitions. Definitely try their kettle chips
Very nice staff. A nice courtyard, unfortunately still a bit cold in May but there are some heating rods above the tables. The food is delicious. We ate again the next day, then in the large back room. There is a changing selection of craft beers and ciders. The food selection was a bit too small, which is why only 4 stars. Nevertheless, I can highly recommend it!
Worst experience ever! Got our food almost after 45 minutes that too not so appealing. Pizza $ Nachos both were burnt from the sides. Its the 3rd time we got burnt pizza at The Laughing Buddha. Not going back to this place!
Waited over am hour and 30 mins for 3 Buddha pizzas and nachos. The cooks burnt all the food, so badly that the bottom of the pizza was caked in oil from them not wanting to clean the oven during peek hours on salt night. Manager had no empathy for serving us terrible burned food so bad the entire bottom of the pizza were char black and gave us 50% discount on a single pizza. Would be easy to say food was horrible and veggies were raw while the dough was burnt at the bottom from a dirty oven. The excuse was we are having issues with our oven. Which is a business issue and as a paying customer I expect to recieve a good meal. The server was great the kitchen was terrible. Manager was ignorant to fix the issue
Personally love this place. From the eclectic decor to the food! The restaurant can get pretty loud making it difficult to hear others at your table. The outside patio? Parking: Free after 6 (municipal regulations). Otherwise, good luck!
This is the best thin crust pizza I have ever had and the toppings are spectacular. Worth stopping at any time.
Got to eat with a few mice and a drunk server. Food was ok but took over an hour ... My son liked being able to get way close to live mice .. Hes 6 so ... ya . But I would suggest they get some mouse traps gona edit it also to include . Not on the outside on the inside . I have pictures of my son with mice . Come on now ! Not a big deal . This was inside. They live in the walls . Look close to the floor u will see them . Or even ask the server Dont argue ! Its truth !
Went here to eat before the Wolves game. The pizza was awesome so were the garlic fries and they have a good beer selection as well. Staff was friendly would definitely recommend this place.
Great service, friendly staff, good food
This place is absolutely awful. There are mice visibly running around. A gas station bathroom looks 5 star compared to the ones here. My fiancé and our friends waited an hour for a singular pizza. I also waited 20 minutes for a glass of water. The server was not friendly or welcoming at all. We didn t enjoy the drinks we ordered but the server was reluctant to switch them out. All in all, it was an unsatisfying experience and I would not recommend it all. **ADDED EDIT** The mice were seen on the INSIDE of the restaurant. It was a chilly night so none of the doors to outside were open. They obviously live inside - there are no excuses for having mice running around the INSIDE of a restaurant. Even if I wanted to talk to a manager i m sure it would have taken ages seeing as we would barely got to interact to our server.
Very long wait for food. We waited over 1 hour and 15 minutes for food. Pizza was okay. Then the waitress pre-selected a 25% tip. I did not appreciate that. *EDIT* in response to the reply below. No, it was not a discount as the math would not add up to that. It was the tip. The machine was handed to me with the amount already on it and I just tapped my card. I did not realize until after I paid when I calculated it or else I would have said something.
We heard good things about this spot and had to check it out. Their outdoor patio was pretty epic it really reminded me of a nice downtown Toronto patio but with much more space. The atmosphere was really cool as its set intuitive am apartment style complex and theirs a train junction just across the street. If your downtown sudbury check this place out! We had their pizza and a delicious burger and they even accommodated my 9 month old with sweet potato fries without any salt/ additive. They also have a really great selection of craft beers, ciders, sour beers and spirits in bottles and on tap. The customer service we received there was great and we soupy recommend and will definitely be going back next time were in sudbury.
Great food had the chicken budda bowl then we spotted the mice running throughout the dining room!!
Awesome place for the drinks ..!!their food was okay but I really loved the drinks
I m from North Bay and this place is well worth the drive! It was a beautiful day and they have the best patio. We come here every time we re here. Dietary restrictions: Three of seven of us had a gluten allergy and they were extremely accommodating. They even went to the Towne House Tavern to get us special buns!
A great little pub style place. A huge selection of Beers from all over the world, and the food is wonderful. Amazing Pizza.
We heard some really awesome things about the laughing Buddha so we decided to go check it out. It took over 20 minutes to be greeted by our server, which wasn t the end of the world. It didn t seem very busy, but our sever was no where in site. After sitting for over an hour with empty drinks, we had to wave down another server two times, before she actually went to get our server. We planned on spending the night there, having a couple of drinks and ordering some food .. We were there from 10:30-12:30 and were only seen two times by our server, we only were only able to order two rounds of drinks It seems that the place may be understaffed and over miced.. it s very disgusting and disturbing to see multiple mice running around the restaurant.. The mice were running up to our table and the guy beside us literally had his feet up away from the mice!!! I manage a bar in Calgary, and this is completely unacceptable. I would shut my doors and make sure that the mice problem is under control before letting my guests sit beside these rodents. Once we told the server about the mice issue, she laughed it off and told us that the manager knows about the issue and doesn t plan to do anything. I am happy that we had such poor, slow service that we never had time to order any food. The thought of eating and drinking at this establishment makes me sick to my stomach. She also informed us that there has never been a mice spotting in the kitchen or the bar, convenient eh?
Slow service Mouse running around the outside patio Food was ok I dont think Id go again Food : 2/5
Amazing food and service! I ordered the nachos and bri bomb it was DA BOMB!! I love their wide range of cocktails as I m super picky and never know what to get. Thanks to our server we had an amazing experience. Will obviously be back for more snacks! Vegetarian options: Love that even the deep fried things are vegan friendly ! Kid-friendliness: Had my little ones with me and they always enjoy the hummus and veggies!
Tastes like dogfood.
I enjoyed my meal in an open space that was casual and welcoming without being pushy. Thank you Fiona for the French service and the conversation!
Always a great time.
It was great food on a nice Sunday
The laughing buddha is one of my favourite places to eat, with unique sandwhiches and pizzas, the bartender I had on my last visit, Fiona, provided an amazing an atmosphere, and her cocktails are not only amazing but you can tell that she makes them with a passion for her craft. While i give the buddha 5 stars, it s as much for the restaurant as it is for Fiona and her great drinks
Amazing food, their patio is by far the best one in Sudbury!
Beautiful patio, good food and great drink selection.
Great place to get together with friends!
Great place, friendly staff. A little more bar than restaurant but the soup was good and the artichoke dip was amazing. Mocktails are interesting too! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options considering the small-ish menu.
Didnt try the food, however very friendly and nice Staff!
