Hall Hotel, The Oaklands, Barton St, Laceby, Grimsby DN37 7LF, United Kingdom
Had xmas meal and it was good. Stayed over at the hotel and as always was a comfy bed and clean and tidy.
Sourdough with starter was like a rock, tried to cut, all over the table. Main course fish was average. Main course was lukewarm, cous cous was cold and clumpy, flat bread was like cardboard, salad was fine! Expensive, didn’t complain but would never return or recommend
Went for a special birthday with 11 people 6 days ago. Allergies were on the whole catered for with one having salad that was asked to be removed. Both the steak and Haloumi burgers strangely came smothered in Marie rose sauce. Not very appetising. The roast beef was fine but all the vegetables were cold on arrival. I don't think broccoli that is turning yellow should have been served. Desserts were fine but the only child in our party didn't receive her ordered ice cream. Staff were great at bringing out the birthday cake and plates afterwards. When we went to pay they didn't seem interested in our complaints.
We had a great meal thank you 6 of us last Saturday night Good value for money and excellent staff
Came with my family this evening for Sunday dinner. The staff were really welcoming and warm (which honestly going out to eat with kids isn't something I experience much! ). We all had 3 courses on the Sunday menu and I honestly think for the price it's pretty amazing. And I think the best part is probably being surrounded by the beautiful grounds the oaklands stands on. Will be returning soon ❤️
The absolutely best thing about this restaurant has got to be the staff. We were served by Caroline, who was attentive and observant, as well as friendly and personable. The food was a close second with notably a very generous portion of onion rings, and very tasty options like hake, and steak. Would definitely visit again.
Adequate...... was hoping for much more from the photos and reviews I'd seen. The first thing that hit us was the smell of school dinners! This is an older building, so maybe it was.... The menu is good, some staples and some twists, and what came from the kitchen was wholesome and seemingly home made, apart from the coleslaw which definitely had a battery acid thing going on. The service was polite and efficient.
Fantastic food and beautiful atmosphere and setting. The Oakland's is special to us anyways as it's where we got married but the food at the comfy duck is always 10/10.
Had afternoon tea today 11/4/2024.It was a gift but came away very disappointed and underwhelmed. Could only choose 1 sandwich filling per person.Dreadful soggy rhubarb scone couldnt eat.Pastry on banoffee pie was soft.I could carry on.Needless to say I wont be returning and wouldnt recommend.
Really nice afternoon tea, very attentive staff and a relaxing atmosphere.
Nice staff nice experience all round
Nice little restaurant, really warm and good food
Enjoyed lunch time food, service good as well. Also recommend afternoon tea was absolutely delicious!
Nice Sunday lunch. Expensive but good quality.
Great place great food
We had a superb proper Sunday lunch in wonderful surroundings . The staff were very helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit for Sunday lunch.
Nice coffee
Ate in The Green Room. For mass catering, very good. No atmosphere and drinks VERY expensive. Overall, decent but ensure bank balance healthy!
Nice place. PAY YOUR STAFF PROPERLY!!!
Couldnt be more accommodating. Ben is fantastic !
Great food and friendly staff
5 star service and 5star Food. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
Went to a wedding stayed over night in hotel staff lovely. Drink bill was £270 didnt get a breakdown of what drinks we had had but we all had a good time
Great place to have a meal and a drink
Food was cold, mash was tasteless, Yorkshire pudding flat as a pancake, turkey was dry but one of the dishes we had was fish and chips and fish was amazing, cooked to perfection. Unfortunately we wont be back.
Tasty food and friendly service
Service very good had afternoon tea very good variety on menu
Ist class, all round
Well having not been here for a few years ,its not changed, the staff are so polite and helpful. Especially the two young ladys that served us thank you for your help you where amazing!!and by the way the food was lovely
All four of us had steak and it was excellently cooked. Accompanying hand cut chips or French Fries were also very good and the salad was a tasty selection of salads. The sweets were delicious and extremely well presented. Eton Mess arrived totally different from the usual but was tremendous. Downside was the time for the food to arrive. We sat down at 6:15 and left at 9:30pm because the food took 2 hours to arrive. If we had known, we would have left. We have to add that none of the staff were wearing masks which made us feel uncomfortable, especially when few of the clients were too.
Very nice. Apparent shortage of teaspoons
It a shame when our local venues treat their young staff with such little respect. My daughter 16 years old has been working for the Comfy Duck doing all kinds of hours for them. They have short paid her for two months. The second time was short by 22hours. When I went to see the manager he tried blaming her for not checking in and checking out correctly, however, she was confident she did sign in, after all if that s what your pay counted on you would ensure you signed in. there was always a supervisor there who knew what she was working also. I also understand they short paid another young worker. Just want to make others aware so they are forwarded. So please feel free to eat there knowing they don t pay their staff or share tips out fairly.
Great service and food
Lovely afternoon tea. Staff great
I took the wife out for anniversary, and wished we had stayed in and cooked a better meal.the manager was rubbish. no atmosphere, they said they do not do Cocktail drinks but say they do on there website, two young girls behind the bar did not have a clue ( not there fault ). i will never go back to that place, it use to have a good name in the past, and i have been many time, but no more, probably will not get changed in the near future, what a shame, as it is a lovely building.
The food was lovely service good will be going back
What has happened to this venue??? It took inexperienced bar staff 15 mins to serve 4 drinks...handed over £20 & had to ask for the change back & also to serve the 4th drink which had been forgotten about. Party of 10 family & friends for mums 85th Birthday celebration where very disappointed...a salmon portion £16.95 which was very very small...childrens dinners served cold which had to be returned ..fish & chips that black you could not eat it all...left a funny taste in your mouth ...once the meals were finished after 15 minutes I had to ask to have the table cleared...in all not a very good experience & shall not be returning in a hurry...which is a shame as all the years of enjoyment here...something has gone drastically wrong...
We became a VIP customer and took advantage of one of your Januarys deals. Spend £89 In the restaurant and get a room for a pound. When we got there we were very impressed with our room it was beautiful and spotless got ready and headed down for dinner. We were very well looked after by all the staff and the food was just superb. Thank you or a lovely night we will definitely be back.
Terrible afternoon tea bought as a gift, rang spoke to restaurant manager was meant to be ringing me back when he had spoke to chef, still waiting 3 weeks later, avoid, * just a update still waiting for the manager only been 3 months! AVOID
Went yesterday for afternoon tea for a friends babyshower, staff was helpful and the food was nice. Although the only bad thing was I found a dead fly on my raspberry, a head and a wing with abit of cobwebs attached. It put me off eating the rest. I told the lady who took the plates away and all I got was awe ok!! not even an apology which I thought was unacceptable.
My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of dining at the Comfy Duck this evening. The staff were attentive, allowing us to our table early. Drinks and food were served swiftly. I cannot recommend enough. The food is absolutely delicious, this was our first experience with Comfy Duck, and we shall return very soon.
Lovely meal and perfect setting for the family get together for my mums 80th birthday party. Staff very helpful and patient with the 6yrs old that was with us. Foodwise, meal nicely cooked and was as described, the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Will happily go there again.
Had afternoon tea here 5.11.18 quality of food was good wasnt anything special though and at £16.95 a head we thought it was very overpriced. Having had afternoon tea here previously I was extremely disappointed. What happened to the excitement of the Seaside theme and the Alice in wonderland theme? Maybe its a different head chef. Needless to say we wont be returning. The 2 stars are really for what food we had was nice and the service was good. Sorry Comfy Duck sadly we wont be back
Staff very well mannered and helpful ,pleasant surroundings ,food was very overpriced for what you got ,chicken very dry and hard ,sirloin steak very fatty thumbs down for us all wont be returning
