Usually love this place, but after going for food last night. It took 15 minutes for our order to be taken. Then after this a further 20 minutes to receive our drink. Then waited a further 45 minutes for any sign of food. We ordered a pickle tray and poppadoms which we never received. The food was lovely tasting but the only hot thing on the plate was the chips, The staff seemed disaoraginsed and stressed, and I witnessed quite often certain staff been asked to do something and turning away and doing something else instead. I can only accredit one lady who was waiting I didn't catch her name but she was the only one that seemed to be running around trying to serve the customers. The whole experience unfortunately has ruined my want to return.
This is my sister’s favourite restaurant in Grimsby and we always come when we visit her. Delicious food (the lime pickle is amazing, the best I’ve ever had), generous portions and charming service. 100 % recommend.
Popped in here for dinner at 8:30pm on a Monday night hence the lack of atmosphere. Staff were fantastic and food was very tasty.
Another lovely night celebrating our sons birthday! Was brilliant service like always! We've been coming here many years now, mainly to celebrate birthdays 🎂 but on the weekends too! 🍻 The staff are lovely and the food is always amazing! We recommend this place to everyone we know. Thankyou X
I had a fantastic evening celebrating my 50th birthday with family. We all throughly enjoyed our meals. The food service and atmosphere were excellent. Made to feel very welcome and all staff were very friendly. Will definitely be going back. 😊🎂🥳
1st experience here tonight with my wife thought I'd give it a try instead of the regular place in Cleethorpes. I was pretty disappointed to be honest with the food. I'm a bit of season pro when it comes to Indian food and this was just very basic with not a lot of great taste to be honest. For the price of the bill at the end of the meal it certainly wasn't very cheap either compared to other Indian restaurants I've visited recently. That being said I won't be rushing back any time soon which is a real shame.
The food is great, service is amazing, and the restaurant is lovely and clean! toilets are very nice too! definitely recommend 👌🏽
Huge portion, food very tasty. Satisfied because food was as I wanted. When I chose mild was mild when spicy was spicy. Waiters very friendly. 100% recommending.
We have used spice of life takeaway on numerous occasions we had family at ours for weekend and thought we would treat them to a curry We spent £85 and was very disappointed hardly any chicken in any of the dishes all dishes were runny and none were labelled to see what was what very very disappointed and wont ever be ordering or recommending to anyone ever
Amazing food, massive portions and friendly service especially from boss man Shah!
Ordered online tika massala and got something totally diffrent delivered, a tub full red sauce and few bits chicken, no taste to at diffrent as coconut milk, the compagny is ignorend abouth my complain, wont order again
Good selection and dishes spiced very differently, good quality meat especially the lamb used. Buffet evening is great value and food is of the same high standard, regularly replenished.
Fabulous food, great service. Always enjoy eating here, never had a bad meal. Best Indian food in Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Dietary restrictions: Im coeliac and always get reliable info regarding ingredients.
Ordered food over 2 hours ago, after 1 hour 15 rang and was told it had just left, then called again 15 mins later and told the machine hadnt accepted the order (a lie, it had and had been charged for it) After 2 hours and 20 mins I called and cancelled the order...absolute joke.
A night away, seeing a band. We have popped here for tea. My word, the food was amazing. Service was smashing. We will be returning.
Very good food. The chefs special is excellent Food
First time here. Despite being mega busy ( a good sign!!) staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Totally recommend
WHAT CAN A SAY WHAT A FANTASTIC NIGHT CELEBRATING OUR DAUGHTER 40TH BIRTHDAY , FOOD WAS FANTASTIC STAFF WAS AMAZING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED XX A BIG THANK YOU TO SHAUN FOR LOOKING AFTER US AND MAKING IT SPECIAL LOVE FROM TESSA AND JOHN COOPER X
We ordered a keema curry Tasteless mince We ordered lamb bhuna Nothing like bhuna had lots of bhuna curries but the taste is nowhere near Smashed to pieces poppadoms Chapatti thick as nan bread cold and pale Only good bits was the mango and mint sauce . Chips was horrible worst we have ever had . Its not hard to fry potatoes. Thank God we had delivery and not in restaurant. I am from Bradford which is curry king but this was shocking I could do better myself.
I ordered chicken tikka masala which didn t smell or taste anything like it should, it was bland and tasteless and the chips were horrible, taste like they ve used old stale fat
Me and bf went here for the first time yesterday evening. From the second you walk in, you notice just how beautiful it is inside and we were greated by the staff who seated us promptly. After we had looked at the menu for some time, because we couldnt decide from all the wonderful dishes they had to offer, the waiter asked us each what kind of meat, flavours and spices we liked to which he recommended the Lamb Karahi. We both ordered it along with the Saag Aloo, Tarka Daal, Chilli Cheese Naans, Mushroom & Special Rice. Once the food was ready it was brought over on a little trolley and I was amazed at what I saw and smelt. The Lamb Karahis were sizzling away in pans and the colours of the food was extrodinary. The food was immense and so deliciously tasty that we ate the lot! From the amazing food, excellent service and how beautifully it is decorated (from the lighting down the seating), we will definitely be coming back. If you havent eaten here before, I would highly recommend it - you will not be disappointed! :)
Ace night great food came here for birthday £70 well spent and some extra cake and ice cream on the house
Nice place and staff clean nice environment Sunday Buffet I would strongly recommend putting a tikka masala on and possibly putting a bhuna/Rogan Josh on aswell too bring in more customers target a bigger audience. Food quality and taste was spot on....Would Come again
Thought i would try this place again. 3 hours from order to delivery!! Ordered tandoori dry. No mint sauce, no salad even after been 2 hours late. Definitely wont be back.....
Ordered online. Was an hour and a half late. Was cold. We started to serve it up and realised they had sent a set meal for two instead of 4 like we ordered. And was also missing another item. Asked for a refund was given £6 for the inconvenience basically. Shame really thankfully our usual takeaway was on speed dial.
Fabulous food, best Indian around.
Excellent food. Large choice.
Always fresh and hot. Usually have lamb balti, Ive never had a bad one. Wheelchair accessibility: Wide doors, its on one level. Plenty of room between tables.
Best in town for a curry
Food has never disappointed me here. It always tastes great. I am personally not a great fan of the interior, but this is a matter of taste. Prices are reasonable and food quality is good. What more to expect in Grimsby???
Brilliant food as always , friendly staff , really good with my autistic boy had his own table and was waited on like a king , cant thank the guys enough Kid-friendliness: My autistic son now loves to eat out here, the longest hes spent in a restaurant in years as the staff were so friendly and understanding
Excellent customer service very friendly food delicious and restaurant was spotless I definitely be returning thanks everyone
I must admit, I m not a huge fan of Indian food in general, but the majority of my group decided to go here for dinner. The menu is so long, it caters for everyone s taste. I actually chose an Indian dish, even though there were different options available too, like breaded chicken pieces or fish and chips classics. I didn t regret it. It was absolutely delicious. Probably one of the best I ever had. Staff was friendly and helpful. We will surely visit again.
The best Indian food I have had absolutely fantastic
Ordered a supposedly mild dish, delivered half hour after latest eta. Then the dish was super hot , I had less than a teaspoon and couldn t breathe. Contacted them told they add masala for taste. Nowhere on that dishes menu stated this otherwise I would never have ordered it. They sent another an hour later, still inedible. Thick grease on the top and again super hot.
Absolutely disgusting our son was treating us to dinner as I had not been well he rung these guys placed the order it came. 4 x onion burghers 2 not cooked 2 burnt ro a crisp couldnt get teeth into it. Chicken chatting OK. Biryani chicken chicken pink chicken korma chicken pink poppadoms crispy rice cold chips cold didnt touch samosas. Son rang restaurant spike to someone told them what was what he apologised and said he would send fresh. This time one portion extremely burnt onion burghers 2 curry dishes still not cooked spoke to manager who said he didnt hear my son saying korma but that is by the by when he spoke to me he said he would do the whole order again at a loss to him because he doesnt want to lose customers too late for that mate a Lot of people will be bypassing your curry house. New order came poppadoms all broken 2 x portions onion bajees 2 were warm but not pasty in the middle 2 we inedible burnt to a crisp. Not impressed at all from my son ordering dinner around 5pm it was around 8 pm when my husband decided to have something to eat and said he wished he hadnt as it was disgusting before my son and husband ate their chicken dishes and I mean couple tablespoons full I had to cut the chicken to make sure it was cooked before they ate it I had a cooked onion barrel and have been up all night being sick. Totally upset thatvmy son paid a lot of money and quality of food was disgusting the manager i spoke to asked for food bavk to show his chef i said the quality of food served to us your chef needs sacking as he is doing nothing for your reputation im just flabergasted that a chef would cook such dishes inadequately and send them for public consumption and feel that the meal was fit for purpose think enviromental food hlygine people should get involved and see the qulilty y of food that is being served even eating buffet style the food is luke warm when we sat in the resturant i ordered onion barjees as none on buffet first lot came not cooked properly through middle luke warm next lot burnt to a crisp you ought to be ashamed sending out substandard food totally unacceptable. Even delivery driver couldnt believe the state of the barjees i would say he was the best thing to come from the resturant
Really good food
Nice food but waited an hour and 50 min for delivery, order was slightly wrong as well, not worth calling back up and complaining due to the length of time we had already waited. I had to chase order via the phone, they gave the excuse that its bad weather and therfore this is slowing down deliveries, there is nothing wrong with the weather, good driving conditions. I wouldnt order for delivery again.
Self serve buffet was good. Had to wait to get bill at the end. Staff engaged in other tasks.
Spice of Life in Grimsby truly encapsulates the essence of a top-notch Indian dining experience. From the moment you step in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable meal. The restaurants clean and well-decorated interior adds a touch of sophistication, creating a pleasant ambiance that enhances the overall dining experience. One of the standout features at Spice of Life is their commendable commitment to prompt service. The staff is attentive and efficient, ensuring that your orders are taken swiftly and delivered to your table without unnecessary delays. This aspect significantly contributes to the restaurants reputation as one of the better Indian establishments in town. When it comes to the culinary offerings, Spice of Life boasts a diverse and flavorful menu, showcasing the richness of Indian cuisine. The chefs skillfully balance traditional recipes with a modern twist, ensuring a satisfying experience for both connoisseurs and those new to Indian flavors. The menu includes a variety of dishes catering to different preferences, from aromatic curries to tandoori delights. While the restaurants drinks selection is impressive, featuring a range of wines and beers, there is room for improvement in the absence of cocktails. The attentive service, combined with the flavorful and well-prepared dishes, creates a synergy that keeps patrons coming back. The restaurants commitment to cleanliness and maintaining a welcoming ambiance further enhances its reputation as a go-to spot for Indian food enthusiasts in Grimsby. In conclusion, Spice of Life not only lives up to its name by adding vibrancy to the Grimsby culinary scene but also succeeds in offering a well-rounded dining experience. Whether youre a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or a newcomer looking to explore new flavors, Spice of Life is undoubtedly a gem worth discovering.
Do not order for delivery. Compared to dining in, the food is shocking. Why is the quality so different?
9 items missing from our order. I placed the order at 5 to come for 7 but didnt arrive until 8.30. All food was cold. currys tasted the same just different colour very bland. Food : 1/5
Lovely food great service
Found the food a little bland
Worse Indian takeaway I have ever had
Have eaten here before ( all good ) and they send me 10% off - for next time order online - been trying to order for over an hour - the site keeps crashing, it also keeps suggesting to download their app!!!!!!! DO YOU ALL KNOW THAT THE PRICES ON THE APP ARE £1 MORE EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!! THAN THE MENU , SO FOR EXAMPLE I WANT 7 ITEMS SO THATS £7 EXTRA FOR USING THE APP !!!!!!!!! THAT IS CLEARLY DISAPPOINTING AND DISHONEST!!!!!!!!
Great food and it was busy
Just had a meal here and IV had a lot ov Indian meals this one is the best IV been to bye a mile food is fantastic and staff aswell 5 stars from me
Absolutely the nicest food I have ever had could not fault anything Would not go anywhere else ! If only this restaurant was closer to where I live in Newcastle Excellent service too
1st time ordering from this place will not be ordering again food cold, chips tasted like they have been reheated and chicken tasted burnt.
If I had the option, I would give this an even higher rating. The team that run this place have always delivered and have always ensured their environment is kid friendly but adult friendly at the same time. The food they offer is amazing and never prioritize in house over delivery and vice versa, making them extremely reliable for a cold night to be warmed up.
PRAWNS NOT FRESH HAS GIVEN ME FOOD POISONING IM IN PAIN I HAVE TO SEE DOCTOR TODAY THIS PLACE NEEDS CLOSING DOWN.
Had a lovely night with my husband. The service was great and the food was so tasty and amazing - the portions were huge that we ended up taking food home. Thanks Spice of Life!
Spent 35 pound on a delivery only for it to take 3 hours when it was supposed to be 45 mins. All items where luke warm barring the ones that werent delivered. Naan was burnt and poppadoms were soggy. Rung several times to see how long the order would take only to be ignored. Definitely will not use again.
Absolutely terrible service. Had to walk out after waiting over 2 hours for food. And still didn t eat. Had made a booking which was a waste of time as they couldn t find it. Total joke. Paid £55 for 1 drink each (8 of us including 2 children) and a poppadom.
Personally the best curry I have ever had, the lamb Naga was incredible. Thank-you.
Possibly the worst takeaway I ve had! Rang after 20 mins late, on its way rang again 20 mins later they rang driver finally arrived. One meal missing so driver came back. Everything was cold! My tandoori was tough, salad pathetic.. Won t order again!
Top nosh fab every time
Great local curry. Very nice staff
Super cool place
Best Indian cookery in Grimsby, by a mile. The waiter even brought over some Indian version of suya, courtesy of the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Theyve got a special menu for kids as well.
We ordered our food over 2 hours ago and it still hasnt arrived. We cant get in touch with them on the phone. Very bad.
I would love to give five stars for the food But one star I havent give is for Vegetarian Briyani came with a fried egg on top that little disappointed The container of Curry that comes with biriyani was broken oil was all over the food Other than that samosa was so delicious
This is difficult as my experience was not great but I know others that have been on other occasions and fared very differently, so maybe I just visited on a bad day. The restaurant was very busy, so much so that we were waiting at least 20 minutes for our table in spite of being pre-booked. Whilst waiting several tables approached the bar to voice their concerned at the lengthy wait for food, a couple of tables even walked out without being served in frustration. We persevered but it was 2hrs10 before we were served our orders. Further frustrating it was notable other tables of smaller parties seated after us were getting their food before us by quite some time. This exacerbated the general perception of disorganisation falling into chaos. The food was most pleasant once it did arrive, all party members much enjoyed their meals, one however noting that the madras was hotter than he was accustomed to, much to everyone elses amusement. Its a shame the lengthy wait and chaotic atmosphere tainted the experience.
Very poor experience. Sat down for 45 mins before being served. Drinks took an hour, and the whole meal took around 3 hours. Exhausting and chaos inside. Bar area cramped with no room for waiting. Staff un responsive. There are many better Indians in Grimsby / Cleethorpes. My recommendation is to try those.
55 minutes turned into 95 minutes for delivery. Naan breads more like poppadoms! Hard and crispy. Rest of food was ok. Lovely onion bhajis. But over all it was just ok.
Terrible, late, cold and thin/only sauce. Dont bother.
Fabulous meal & service you wont be disappointed had to take doggy bag there was so much
not good
Two hours late first person on the phone lied and said it had left. Second person told me first person lied and it was just leaving. The Bhuna didn t even taste like a Bhuna. Onion Bajis undercooked and no meet in the keema naan either. The butterfly king prawn was tasteless and cold by the time it arrived the rest of the food was Luke warm. We won t be ordering again.
Lovely place and food definitely going again
Great curry ,good service
Food absolutely delicious, staff super friendly, would highly recommend,
Great pickle tray & fresh poppadoms. Bhaji & tikka starters were perfect. Enjoy the curries too. Main course was a while. Tried for quite a few minutes to grab a waiters attention for a drink. Other than that all good. Locks in toilets need replacing as does the hand wash. Empty at 7pm
Food took just under 2 hours to be delivered, was cold and needed warming up, chicken was soggy and had a weird texture. In the end we ended up leaving everything, what a waste of time and money.
Been here a couple of times recently and always pleased I did. Service helpful and polite. Prices fair. Food really good; Shahi Murghi Masala was one of the best dishes I can remember eating in an Indian restaurant anywhere. Highly recommend Spice of Life. Been back, May 2023. Just as good as I remember it. Really first class food and good service. Highly recommended.
Extortionate price for desert when it turned up as 1 small slice and also missing the custard. Custard was redelivered as just slightly more than a couple of tablespoons after ringing to complain. Chips was warmed up and hard as a rock inedible and smelling fusty. Terrible customer service could have at least honoured the inconvenience of ruining our meal. Would never use again and will stick to Millers in Waltham.
Highly recommended
Just had an amazing meal in here, really friendly staff, give it a try you wont be disappointed, the Dahl was spot on and Ive just had 2 months travelling India
Excellent food with good service.
Excellent food and excellent service
Ordered for collection on a busy saturday night and was ready in a very reasonable time. Good quality food and very generous portions.
Always been great here well worth a visit
Just had a takeaway menu restaurant quality to our home best Indian Ive ever had thank you
Always have a great time here. Recently went for a meal with my daughter. It was her first Indian meal. She loved it.the food is spot on service is spot on atmosphere is spot on
Have to be honest Indian food not my favourite, however I was with a group of friends and they all seemed to enjoy their food.I personally thought it was ok a bit bland. Lacks a bit of atmosphere Food
The food is always good, it arrives early and the people who deliver it are always polite. I would rate them as 110%. Food
The best Indian restaurant in the UK. Trust me.
Dont ever give these guys your phone number. I ate there once a few years ago and still get weekly promotional text messages. At first there was no cancellation possible on the text. Now there is an option to cancel but they still keep coming. Food
I ordered chicken balti and bombay potato for dinner and it was the worst food i had in uk, Chicken curry was like sweet water, I complained in uber eats, Waste of money.
Did the Sunday all you can eat buffet. Was really good and also had puddings. Nice place and service was good.
Food bland dissapointed with all 3 dishes ordered, ²
Wonderful food! Fantastic food!
Don t give this restaurant your phone number. Over the years (yes) I keep getting texts. I ve told them to take me off their database. It s farcical, I ve only had one takeaway from them, maybe 10 years ago. I think it was quite nice. PLEASE. Take me off your database!!!!
First time going, will go back again good atmosphere good couldnt ask for anything more
One star is being generous, the whole meal was horrible never returning again
Took over 2 hours to get food delivered. The food has always smelt weird like its been left overnight and has a really strange vegetable smell to it. The chicken looked like it was coming apart and from the outside, it was just a really weird meal and we decided not to eat it. Been in the restaurant quite a few times and had it delivered a few times but each time has smelt and tasted weird when delivered Money down the drain.
Amazing food and great staff, wouldnt think twice to coming again
From the moment I arrived the waiters were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I was seated and food was brought out in a timely manner. I was asked in the middle of eating was everything ok which was nice to receive a check-in and not to be forgotten about. The restaurant wasnt packed out however wasnt empty which I think for a Thursday service was great and to still be well looked after was amazing! The food was the best Indian food I have ever tasted and the waiters were very good at answering questions about the menu. I would definitely recommend going!
Hadnt been for years. Couldnt get in at millers due to fire work display but wasnt disappointed. It was just as good if not better. Will definitely be back.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. One of the best Indian meals Ive ever had. The restaurant is lovely inside and the staff are so attentive. Prices are really good. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Extremely long menu with so many dishes make me worried if everything was fresh, however, the food tasted good. I can recommend.
Do not leave a tip !!! We mentioned to a table waiting staff member that we d left a tip on the table . They said we shouldn t have bothered as the proprietor takes it and does not let the waiting staff have a share !. This is unlawful as of this year . Won t go back just on the basis of that .
Seems that 2hrs is standard delivery for this restaurant
The menu was amazing! There are so many different dishes - I was really impressed. The service was great, and so was the ambiente. A brilliant night out!
Great food and good service Would recommend this place to eat
Ordered chicken passanda for a takeaway sorely disappointed. I got five pieces of chicken the sauce was bland and no almond flavour. The dish didnt look appealing it was bright orange. Paid a lot of money for this and will never order from them again
Excellent service and food as always
Had a lamb tikka..coconut rice and garlic naan.. full to bursting absolutely delicious
Hi just had a delivery from this takeaway restaurant. Delivery came in less than an hour. We had a set meal for 2 and a biriani. The food was hot tasty and plentiful and will be making this our regular Asian takeaway and recommend it to friends and family. Thank you for a enjoyable filling meal.i will be eating the leftovers for dinner tomorrow lol
Second time visiting spice of Life. Will definitely be back. Friendly and welcoming staff. George was very warming and kind. Very tasty, yummy food
Working offshore from grimsby , when ever Im here I call in for a feed .... staff are lovely and food is great always a warm welcome
Very attentive service and a wonderful meal. Really loved the tandoori dishes and highly recommend this restaurant. We were a large group and all received our meals at the same time, which was fantastic.
Not had a bad meal yet
Just good food pleasant staff and not overly expensive what more do you want
1st time in Grimsby, restaurant was opposite hotel so thought wed give it a try. Staff very Friendly and welcoming but food completely tasteless and tried to over charge us on the bill for drinks
V good customer service, wonderful food and all at a reasonable price.
Gorgeous food brilliant service thankyou xx
Great food. Lovely service. Will come again when travelling nearby
Great food & friendly staff
Good food you allways get plenty.Expect an hour wait if you order Good prices and service.
Delicious food with spicy starters and end with masala tea - nice sized portions - reasonable prices - Halal
Fab service staff are absolutely lovely , the food taste amazing and was very hot, and the chips are to die for, just wow ! The best chips I have ever had
Good food
First time today.Great service and warm staff.Best indian Ive had in grimsby, taste and good flavours. Long time coming for good indian restaurant. You are the spice of life,we done . Will be only happy to come again . Thank you
It has to be the worst food under the sun! Strictly unauthentic and Jerry rigged. Same colored meat pieces in different colored gravvy with fancy names. Desserts were awful.
Lovely food and service.
Sorry to say but my last 3 take away meals have been a disaster. Certain items of the order as collected were missing (not included) . This was noticed once I started to unpack the food at home. Despite my request upon collection to please thoroughly check each item is included and assured all ok before I left. This was not the case. This really spoilt the take away meal and unfortunately I really cannot use this restaurant again. Shame I loved the food.
1st visit. Staff all very friendly, the premises was clean & fresh. *Food exceptionally good* Draft Tiger beer perfect. Will visit again next time Im here.
Has gone down hill over the last 3 years I d say haven t been for a while , ordered for delivery the spice of life special which is my go to dish from here. Was dry and tasteless, poppedoms were all soft which means most likely they were old, and the chips were extremely chunky some of them half a potato size, they had clearly been reheated so we re really dry. I m really sorry to be be leaving this review I m not sure what s happened here as it was the best Indian in Grimsby for a long time.
Vegetarian options: On the menu. Wheelchair accessibility: It has it
I was order Tandori mix grill 3 different type of meat same taste, 1h waiting for food
Fabulous meal, served by friendly helpful staff. The food was terrific, very tasty, Thoughly enjoyed by us all. We was well looked after. Cant wait to return!
Was staying at Millfield Hotel 10 mins walk away and came here for food. Lovely place very clean. Food was great and staff were lovely , helpful and friendly. Good value for money too.
Lovely food and friendly welcoming staff will definitely return when next in grimsby
Bhuna says hot wasnt even a slight hint of spiciness tasted real bland i ended up putting bbq sauce on it for flavour chili cheese naan was okayish tikka masala didnt taste like tikka masala according to my partner she said best part of the meal was the plain naan bread delivery driver was polite though i would not reccomend this takeaway unfortunately
Spice of life is the largest and the most spacious of its type in the Grimsby area and specialise in Indian cuisine, its location is just off the town centre in Wellowgate. Nicely decorated with a modern style and look and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Being large its capable of catering for large and small groups and events. The menu is extensive and covers most requirements and includes some English dishes. Theres a bar, which is reasonably well stocked with beer, wines and spirits. The wheelchair access and facilities are good. Card payments are accepted here and theres a choice of eating in, takeaway or delivery with an online ordering and booking service. They have a 4 food hygiene rating. Food review August 2022. What I ordered, Pickles and pop a dom 2 Chicken tikka starter 1 Chicken tikka masala 1 Lamb Jalfrezi 1 Pilau rice 1 Plain naan bread 1 Garlic naan bread 1 1 pint larger 1 lime and soda Cost just over £44 All the food arrived promptly in order and the quality overall was very good, I found the lamb Jalfrezi especially good here, the sauce was very well spiced with some heat and a really good depth of flavour, plenty of large pieces of moist lamb included. I thought that the price of the food offered was comparable to other restaurants in the area.
Good food, service and a lovely atmosphere
Family friendly restaurant. Very lovely staff
Very family friendly, well priced, hot and tasty meals. Their food is fresh and delicious. Drinks are also reasonably priced and larger amounts too.
Not the usual standard unfortunately. Food arrived on time and hot but the Mixed biryani I normally have was underwhelming with a whatever is available vegetable curry it seemed and an omelette that barely contained a whole egg. I hope you are not going down hill spice of life as I might have to search for an alternative restaurant.
Nice food, and good service
Just been back after a long absence due to moving further away. The staff recognised myself and my son who they d not seen for years. Had the chili garlic, baji, and naan. It was one of the best curries I ve eaten. Well done. Will make sure I attend more. Parking: Right outside.
Fantastic food try it if you like Indan food its the place
Ate in was very nice service great food good too
Over an hours waiting in the restaurant for the takeaway even tho I have ordered it about 40 min before I went there staff was really aggressive when I asked how long it would be
Excellent food had delivery, food was hot delivery was quick. The Lamb Biryani was delicious will definitely order again.
An hour late after texting it would be 10 minutes 5 small pieces of chicken in masala and chips looked week old black and hard and cold never order from here again
Have been to spice of life many times , this visit was the best ever , I chose the chefs speciality chicken dish , so tasty hot ,and spicy, had it with a mushroom rice and garlic naan , I ate everything , fast service and Cobra beer . Would highly recommend this place .
Meal came ridiculously late still waiting for it 4 hours later, wont be coming here again!
Absalutly attrosiouce food wasnt edable rive was solid curry was like pure water slop manager on the phone was rude
Just had a takeaway delivered from Spice of Life. Food arrived hot, timely and very very tasty! P.s. Brownies are to die for :P
Perfect as always
Beautiful meal, just a shame about the wait, ordered at 4.30 for 7pm went to collect and still had to wait till 7.30pm.z
Still selling maggots.
After lockdown we treated ourselves to a meal @ The Spice of Life in Grimsby it was well worth the wait the food we as outstanding attentive staff great decor and a warm welcome from the owner This place deserves 5 stars and extremely busy as a result please go and try them you wont be disappointed
Spice of life is the best Indian takeaway bar non. Friendly staff & delivery drivers. Food is absolutely amazing
Excellent place
Absolutely amazing food. Good portion sizes. Everything was spot on. Excellent decor, very clean and felt covid safe. Staff very helpful and friendly. Definitely visit again. Would highly recommend a visit.
Nice food and good atmosphere
From start to finish, perfect. The food was amazing.
Alhamdullilah Beautiful Food!
Visited on a Tuesday night for a sit down meal. The food and staff were amazing. Highly recommend.
Currently visiting the area in our caravan near Tetney . Ordered our evening meal from here, everything was absolutely perfect, and enjoyable, and hot on arrival, would recommend and use again.
Just terrible, chicken over cooked in the special. Poor quality mango chutney and the onion with the pickle tray looked like it had been cut a week ago and left out to dry. Never again
Had a meal here with my friend. Well we wasnt impressed at all as it was not even hot in temperature the rice was luke warm and the chapati bread was awful. Waiter came over and asked how the meal was so I told him well he might not as well asked as he just walked off ! I could understand if they were busy but there was only us 2 and 1 more table in here. Wont be returning anytime soon !!
This is the 1st time ive ordered from here in a couple of years as the last one wasnt great but thought id give them another try. The Tikka Kahari the Chicken is so tough to chew and the sauce tastes like strong perfume. The korma sauce tastes even worse like strong fish. Rice hard and cold and the bhajis just as bad as the rest. Ended up with poppadoms as only thing i felt i could eat. I hate wasting food! Very disappointing considering all the top reviews this place has. Will be sticking to my usual indian takeaway in future!
Good food however restaurant service was very poor. We visited mid week and Id imagine the weekend would be even worse.
Disappointed with our meal yesterday. I could understand on why it was late (e.g., traffic), the food was cold upon arrival. Also, I found a hair in one of our food!
Pre ordered a delivery at 8.30pm TONIGHT for 9.45-10.00pm to be delivered no problem with that they said...10.10pm had to chase it up just getting bagged up I was told will definitely be with you in 10 minutes. 10.30 rang again should be with you in 1 minute clearly not.when it arrived the driver said should be hot still just bagged up?? Waste of money should get a full refund for that discusting meal
Had a fantastic time .the food was divine. All hot and fresh.there was a party of 7 and all the food came out at the same time and the staff all sang happy birthday....
Been 3 times in last 4weeks whilst staying holiday inn express opposite with family food is the best staff friendly and helpfull very family orientated restaurant clean and welcoming back on business in October cant wait to book my table once again.
Made order for collection, told would be 45 minutes, went to collect after 45 minutes then made to wait another 35 before food was ready. Not sure how after waiting 1hour and 20minutes but got home to most of the dishes being stone cold and flavourless. In fairness the manager apologised and handed me a free beer for the wait but given the cost of what i ordered was almost double that others indians cost i wont be coming back anytime soon.
Superb food at a great price
Excellent and attentive service although a bit rushed between courses. Have been a regular at the restaurant for many years and look forward to many more enjoyable meals here.
Spacious, good food
Extremely disappointed with our experience in the restaurant last night and because of our experience and the things we saw the four of us will no longer be a customer of Spice of Life. Table booked for seven. We didnt even have time to sit down and look at the menu before the waitress was trying to get our drinks order. She was asked to give us a minute politely and respectfully. Well that minute turned into more then 20 minutes. When she did return we asked which flavoured Gins they had. I dont know she then stood there waiting for us to asked for different drinks. She eventually went to ask. When she came back with the answer we asked for one orange, one pink, one raspberry and a vocka all with lemonade. Not a difficult order. The wait then began again. We then looked towards the bar to see the bar person sniffing our drinks . They all arrived in random glasses. Still no food order had been taken However we had poppadoms. A different waiter then apologised and took our order. More waiting. The table behind us was then served their food even though they came in ages after us. 1 hour 20 minutes later our starters arrived. We had to ask for plates, knifes and forks. The starter was lukewarm at best. Another drinks order was taken. The same four drinks. The waiter said he would try to remember the order. He then came back and asked what they were again. Quite awhile later he came back to say bear with us your drinks are delayed as we are busy with a table of 30 Our mains then arrived. Again lukewarm and greasy. The naan bread was like a cracker. By this point we had gone past being hungry. Things get WORSE. We asked for tubs. The rude blonde older waitress got us some used and dirty tubs to place the food in. She threw them on the table and told us to fill them ourselves. We were all gobsmacked. Another nice young waiter then came and asked if we wanted him to put the food in the tubs. We showed him the tubs, he was so apologetic and got brand new ones. We were then meant to have birthday cake but by this point we had had enough. I asked for the cake to take home and for the bill. Another wait. In the end we had to go over to the till and wait for them to do the bill. We complained and said it wasnt good enough. They gave us £10 off but the money was not the point. They then tried to give us complementary drinks but we turned them down. As I said the issue was not the money but the terrible food, the shocking hygiene standards and the rubbish service. Dining out in these times should be something special and cherished. The Spice of Life has spoiled this moment. We will not be returning to the restaurant or takeaway, full stop....
As usual a really lovely meal.Staff were so courteous and service was great. All at a very reasonable price.
Disgusting service ordered 8pm didn t arrive told to claim money back don t order from here
Food OK but part of the order didn t arrive
Very poor food undercooked and overcooked on different items will not be going back.
Absolutely lovely meal, friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend. We will be dining again. Thankyou
Very tastey! The lamb was cooked nicely. The rice mushroom rice was lovely but not enough of it. The paratha did go cold quite quickly but cant be helped i guess. Drinks orders were a bit slow. Over all the place suprised me inside... Its larger than i thought and well set out.
Fresh, cooked there on site. None of the frozen stuff, pulled out , microwave, then on your plate stuff. If your going to take the girlfriend or fella out, talk and enjoy your food, this is the place. Since I started reviewing, this curry house is best for this market. Already told my mates, and yes its more than 2 hours away. Wicked place.
My wife and I are regulars here ,great food reasonable prices, great staff and service
If were having a treat night we always order from here. Excellent food.
Been here a few times and didnt enjoy the other night , my jalfrezi just wasnt good , I dont no if it was because of the cast iron skillet boiling the sauce and the chicken to literally nothing before I got it on my plate , but the flavour was boring , not much to it was disappointed for the first time , my partner and kids enjoyed theres mine was sadly poor ,
So order takes 2 1/2 HOURS after being told on 2 occasions that it was on its way for it to be cold and had to pay for the privilege and all you get is sorry mate
Very good especially in these strange times
Food was excellent
Brilliant best in Grimsby
If 10/10 was possible Id give it
