Enjoyed a couple of beers here pre gig at The Yardbirds. Staff are friendly and helpful, disappointed that they no longer did food and their website hadn't been updated. With all the craft beer available at other bars in town, could maybe think of stocking a few more. However, my kind of music and a different vibe with regard to surroundings.
My absolute favourite pub! A lovely atmosphere, great quizzes and Dan is a lovely worker. I’m not local and the mood is always immaculate with great people and great service. An absolute must visit!!

I've been meaning to pop on the Barge and try their food, rather than just drinking all the time .., and with some friends visiting from Slough recently, I had the perfect opportunity. We plumped for the Sunday lunch and how lucky were we. Six Roast beef dinners were ordered and six empty plates were left. The beef was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were fresh and everybody commented on what a fantastic meal it was. Needless to say, every single plate was clean and there were six very happy chaps! The staff were superb as usual and a very big thank you to Roy for working his magic in the kitchen. If you have not tried the food in the Barge, I suggest you get yourselves in there and try the food. There is something for everyone and and I guarantee, you will not be disappointed. 10/10 and I will be back again - thank you!

This is a main focal point in Grimsby town centre it looks a bit scruffy from the outside but inside it's not too bad. The food is good and great value for money and the staff was very friendly. So if your visiting Grimsby call in.

Im no spring chicken nowadays, but loved it in there. Staff are as great as they where back in the 90s, when I was a regular. Really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite places... Relaxed atmosphere friendly staff, friendly people, and loads of character. Ive been going to the barge for more years than I care to admit. You will struggle to find pubs better than this anywhere, let alone in Grimsby.
It was a lovely sunny day outside the boat and they played Fit for an Autopsy. Inappropriate in my opinion. We and others left.

This is a really cool hidden gem in grimsby,the staff are great and the atmosphere is super. Open till 2am with an array of drinks to choose from, the toilets were clean. We had cocktails all night 2 jugs for £20 wich i think is a good deal. Will definitely be returning.

Was there yesterday for sunday dinner and it was unreal seen ppl having fish n chips so had to try today and wasnt disappointed.. cant wait for the mixed grill 10 out of 10

Always a friendly welcome from the awesome staff. I always under rate this bar yet its been a constant! My ankles adapt to the slope when the tides in like wearing an old comfy pair of slippers . Go.

Probably the best food in Grimsby, and the Sunday lunch is just amazing.
As always a fantastic meal. Service was a tad slower than usual due to the half off deal the government is running but you cant really hold that against them being as its inevitable.

The Barge is an old estuarine workhorse thats been converted into a pub and restaurant and its been moored at the Riverhead in Grimsby for quite some time. Its a good clean and well lit place,which is warm and has a old fashioned cosy feel and atmosphere with music playing in the background.Its a nicely appointed place with both history and the novelty of being afloat going for it,making it a popular choice with both the locals and visitors. It has a reasonably good range of draught beer, wine and spirits on offer. The menu is gastro pub in style and includes fish, steaks and burgers and roast dinners on Sundays amongst other things theres also a childrens menu and a specials board.It has table service provided by friendly staff. The layout is that of an old style pub with fixed seating around the edges with tressel style tables and stools,theres also some seating outside on the Quayside. It has its own restrooms. Its not able to accommodate wheelchair users unfortunately on the vessel its self however the outdoor tables could easily accept a wheelchair.Theres a multi storey car park opposite. Payment by credit cards are acceptable here. They have a 5***** food hygiene rating. Food review Jan 2019. I chose the Haddock, chips and garden peas and a pot of tea. My meal arrived fairly quickly and comprised of a reasonable portion of Hand cut chips and peas, the fillet of haddock was a reasonable size,I found that the batter was quite heavy and under cooked in parts and a bit oily,the fish itself wasnt that great either, it was firm and white in colour but lacked the flavour of a really good piece of Haddock, the tea was good though.The price of £11.25 I felt was a little steep considering the quality and size of fish, however the portion sizes were quite good here. I didnt find it a remarkable meal but not a bad one either. Ive had the steaks recommended to me maybe Ill try one of these the next time I decide to walk the plank.
Never had food here so cant comment but its a nice lil place, different. Drinks are good and been a fair few times with no issues. Would recommend for drinks
Foods standard, not too pricey. Drinks are quite good and come cheaply. Entertainment and music are good. Rats are everywhere though, saw multiple ones inside and out of the place. The smell is also a little overpowering.
Homemade food. Lasange was oven cooked not microwaved. Very hot food and very nice meal. Service gr8. Fast. Staff served with a smile. Affordable prices i was suprised. Defo worth rhe visit. Small but got seated.

Looks and feels nice. Drinks are fine. Had the spicy cajun chicken, but sadly it was rubbish. The chicken breast was so overcooked it was virtually a biscuit. I very politely offered them an opportunity to do something about it, but they declined. That is the reason that this review is being written actually. This place is not a place to eat unless you are legless

Been to the barge again for my lunch the food was good as always but what I dont understand is why they serve until 7pm when clearly they have run out of half the menu by 2.30 pm this seems to be a regular accurance yes I know its popular but would be even more popular if you could have the same choice all afternoon.
I was there today and the food was delicious. Ordered a wrap with meatballs and cheese.

Not such a unique concept as Ive seen barges turned into pubs several times. As this one is permanent listing I can not stay on it for more than five minutes before feeling sick and dizzy. Avoid at all possible.
Best place in Grimsby to drink in my opinion. Serves traditional pub dishes.
Went with family for meal last night. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food excellent lots of it and hot. Very child friendly as my granddaughters really enjoyed it. Staff very helpful and friendly. Will certainly be going again.

Always go here when in Grimsby for a shopping trip. Its close to shopping centre. Food is excellent with a good choice of beers to wash it down or coffee if you prefer. Atmosphere is friendly as are the staff. Recommend a visit will give you a well earned break from the shopping

Popped in for a bit of lunch, had a beef and onion bagette which came with chips, salad and coleslaw well I certainly wont need any tea tonight, very generous portions and extremely tasty food.

Just eaten at The Barge. Food is brilliant well worth the money. Staff are really nice and very helpful. Highly recommend paying it a visit if you are ever in Grimsby or even if you live in Grimsby.

Really good food in the centre of town
Its all the slant which isnt the best when your on the lash. Great quirky bar with friendly bar staff and good prices. Wasnt full of idiots either which is quite unique for the area.
Probably the best bar in Grimsbys town centre. Great jukebox and a nice rock atmosphere. Staff are great and its cheap too. (Plus you can get away with singing Im on a boat).

Visited the barge again yesterday with my daughter and granddaughter. What can I say. The guys are amazing. Nothing was to much trouble when we changed every meal for a healthy option alternative to scampy and steak, and changing the childs meal to mash instead of chips. The barge has an excellent menu at great prices. We love it. Thanks guys for catering for all our dietary requirements.

Awesome place to go both in the day and evening. Been visiting since I was 18 (20 cough years) and it hasnt changed, much to its benefit. Serves lovely pub grub during the day and loud rock music in the evening. Students rejoice for the Monday quiz with an entertaining evening and free food!

Nothing much has changed about the barge since the 80s except it does food & cocktails. Still one of the better chav free establishments in town. Shame the council are too lazy to sort out the tip that is the river freshney. Oh, & yes, it still leans to one side.

One of the better nights out in Grimsby if you like real beer, alt music and a noticeable lack of chavs.
I took my 2 children in for their dinner. They both choose from the kids menu and i choose a chicken and bacon salad. The cutlery was brought to our table and the kids were asked if they would like sauces. Kids loved their meal, good portion sizes and they said they loved it. My chicken and bacon salad was lovely, lots of bacon and chicken and a good portion size. Very good prices and good service. Kids were also dancing along to the music. Very good place for home cooked food. 10/10 for the food !!!
