Boasting new decor after a recent renovation this quaint boozer hits all marks for homely comfort. With roaring fires and a new special value menu its worth a visit.

Went with my son for breakfast. We ordered by the app and waited about 30 minutes although it wasnt busy. The waitress originally brought us the wrong breakfast, which could have been the apps fault. However when we did get our food it was very poor with black bits all over the bacon and sausages. The plate wasnt warm which made the food cold.

We came for the Freddie Mercury tribute night and 3 course Xmas meal. The food was amazing, service excellent and the entertainment fabulous

Service at the bar was great, friendly, and efficient. Unfortunately, it took about an hour for food to arrive, which was cold. The chicken burger was very tough, and the ham in my cheese and ham melt was chewie. Ordered a side of cajun fries that didnt arrive. When I asked for them, they sent plain fries instead.

Came for the breakfast with jack and sally...complete waste of money! Jack and sally came out for 10mins had photos did one song then went...£10 for 2 small sausages 1 hash brown and some beans! No interaction from the staff! Really disappointed

There was some confusion about my order, ended up waiting a considerable amount of time after asking 3 times when the food was coming. Food was OK when it eventually arrived.

I am always happy when I pop to the Wheatsheaf the food is good and especially love the new dessert creme brulee, the staff are always so attentive and nothing is too much trouble.

Due to a little miscommunication (nobodys fault) we were offered a meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. Steak was cooked perfectly. We now need to go and try the new menu. Cant fault anything at all

Came in for Sunday lunch 22nd Sept 2024 ordered 2 x duo, s chicken and gammon. Gammon was very poor looked like a slice of bacon. asked them to change my meat for beef, which they did even though one of the server said I could only have extra chicken because beef was more expensive (50p).also not enough gravy asked for them too bring some more, which they did our server lucas was nice and polite. Enjoyed the beef and Yorkshire pudding roasties where frozen variety and overcooked and few where edible. and the frozen veg of cabbage, peas and leeks where undercooked. The roast vegatable again where hard and undercooked apart from the carrots which where fine. All in all the beef and Yorkshire best part of the meal which I ate the rest of the meal I left shame really that I ended up disappointed after spending nearly £40 to eat there

I ordered the macaroni cheese as a main, it really was delicious, with crispy onion pieces on top. Yummy. I then had the chocolate orange pudding with ice cream and this was also delicious. My son had fish and chips and he wolfed it all down.

Not a terrible place or experience, food good, friendly staff and place well maintained.

We go with a couple of friends for a meal occasionally. The food is always good , the service is good also. Its a nice place to relax at a reasonable cost.

Came in on a Thursday afternoon was served by the lovely Olivia. The halloumi skewer I had was beautiful the presentation was very colourful.

An hour wait for food, when it finally arrived the gammon was good, the scampi ok but the lasagne and burgers were overcooked. Non-service dogs are allowed in. We enjoyed a dog barking constantly during our meal. The should, but didn t, insist that it was taken outside. Overall, pretty crap. We ve eaten there several times but I doubt we ll bother again. My husband booked a table for our wedding anniversary table 47 !He booked this with a young man George on Thursday last week ! We turned up at 15.30pm to find our table was taken !My husband went to the bar and the staff member George denying all knowledge saying he was not working when my husband booked the table George then realised he was wrong and apologised to my husband!? However if a staff member lies how can they be trusted. Not been for a while but very disappointed. Ordered Sunday lunch veg and roast potatoes obviously frozen variety ,meal very salty. Luckily the meat was edible or it would have all gone back to the kitchen. Even though we didnt need to use the salt pots it was a good job because they had rusty lids and salt was damp. We did make a comment at the time but nobody acknowledge it. Wont be in a hurry to go back.

The food has certainly got better and a really nice pub

Wasnt very busy but we had booked a table, however I think children had been sitting there before we arrived, the carpet had ground in chips around the table so we asked to move which was fine. I think this is something that should have been picked up by the staff and not customers. We did go on to have a nice meal.

Played with my band Dusty Finger at the Sheaf Fest last Saturday. Was a wonderful family event, everyone was in great spirits, plenty for kids to do and endless live entertainment. Was great to play live on such a great day, and the organiser Beth did a great job as there was a lot going on, but was always on hand to answer any queries leading up to the day. Cant wait to play again next year.

Had a fantastic day at SheafFest listening to some great music and eating great food! Only thing to improve is service, maybe getting 2 or more bar staff behind bar to minimise queuing for drinks. Kid-friendliness: Plenty of activities for kids at Sheaffest! Excellent day out

Had an amazing experience at SheafFest here last weekend. Incredible atmosphere, excellent service and lovely staff. Beth in particular was extremely helpful in answering questions, and let me know everything I needed to know far in advance before my set. One of my favourite places for live acts and there s been some amazing ones this year. Attended Sheaf Fest last weekend Beth did an amazing job in organising the whole event and was visible all day which was fab to see. It didn t disappoint! Great acts and local stalls all whilst raising money for charity. Even though it was a busy day staff were efficient, the whole day was just awesome

I went with a friend on the last Saturday night of July and had a great time. We had a cheap & cheerful meal which was also nicely made, and several flavoured ciders. A good night out for about £40 each. Bands on stage in the car park, solo performers in the bar, plenty of seating inside and out, and friendly staff and customers. Customers were aged from early twenties to people in their eighties, plus families with kids. Best night out in ages.

here today ordered the cheese and bacon burger and like usual it s exquisitely delicious from dave s expertise. i had it served with mouth watering bbq sauce. the burger packed crunchy lettuce and perfectly cooked beef 10/10 would come back thanks to the comforting team lead by danielle every experience is the best one

First visit since college days and what a pleasant surprise. Décor : Tasteful and relaxing. Seating and tables, extremely comfortable with variations to suite all. Disabled access : Good. Background music : Pleasant foot tapping music at a level allowing you to talk without shouting. Parking : Large parking area including disabled bays (lunchtime experience) although more disabled bays would be a benefit. Cleanliness : Spotlessly clean throughout. Utensils : Utensils are presented on a server upon ordering food and replaces the commonly used unhygienic table top bucket of utensils/sachets/serviettes. Food : Hot/tasty/filling and satisfying. Severed well within an acceptable time (Lunchtime). One thing that stood out massively was the bread. Quality and not the usual low budget served in other chains. Drinks : Presented in spotlessly clean glasses without rinse aid/lipstick marks. Chilled to perfection and very much enjoyed. Staff talk proper English (example Would you like to add this to your meal instead of Wanna add sum of this wiv it). A pleasant bonus. Staff were polite/professional/helpful and were smartly dressed. Would I recommend visiting here? Without the slightest doubt. Do we plan to return? Without the slightest doubt. Will I receive any type of reward for this review? Absolutely NOT. Its all about giving credit to those who go the extra mile. And to help other choose a rewarding value for money place to eat. Its as simples as that.

Went for late lunch deal at 16:30 Ordered 3 courses using the QR code . The starter and main came within acceptable time but we were waiting for our pudding for nearly an hour. Even though I had asked 4 different staff if they could bring our sweet course. The place wasnt too busy so I can only assume the kitchen had forgotten us. Not a good experience

We had haddock, the haddock was over cooked, hunters chicken also over cooked and chicken avocado salad with no avocado, so in all we wont be coming back. Been before and have enjoyed our meals, so hence this is why we returned. Maybe there are new chefs and staff.

Our cancer group had lunch here. Ross, Lucas, and Adam looked after all our needs. Due to our health needs and being unable to go up the stairs to the bar, they took our order at the table and brought everything to us. They kept checking if we needed anything else. They were polite, friendly, and very professional. Look forward to trying more of the menu next time. What I found good at this venue was that the toilets were clean and disabled accessible. The tables allowed wheelchair access. Staff members move other furniture to make more space. On each table was a caddy with sauces and menus. These menus were clean and not sticky. The food arrived hot and well presented, as in the pictures on the menu. Well done to all the team. Wheelchair accessibility: There are well-appointed disabled parking bays. From the car park is a ramp to the doors. The wheelchair toilet is to the left as you enter, radar key needed. The staff will assist from the top bar, as the bottom bar is not open at lunchtime.

After waiting over an hour staff said our order had been lost. When our meals eventually arrived it was barely edible. We complained and staff just shrugged shoulders. Will not be returning

Since the refit I have noticed the guest beers haven t been up to scratch, almost like the lines are not maintained properly. The food we tried was terrible and we sent back (Sunday lunch, barely warm and microwaved veg)

We was the only people in the pub first thing in morning for breakfast , as we waited outside a staff member arrived at work but was unable to say what time it opened ( this was 11.05am) . Me my mum, son & sister had come for brunch. We ordered full English, my sons had beans sausage has brown & toast . Items were missing from 2 of the breakfasts, my son had bacon not sausage as ordered. Thought this was pretty bad seen as it was first order of the day and we had waited over 30mins for it to come to the table. The staff were nice enough and rectified issues however we did have to remind them of the problems.

Been here five times since refurbishment eaten each time the only decent meal I had was the brunch, Sunday dinner consists of frozen roast potatoes two pieces of carrot rock hard chunks of grey swede.cabbage that was almost raw, and the chicken was like rubber and hard to chew, the gravy was like brown water, the worst sunday lunch that i have ever had . My one year old, Grandaughter couldnt chew it. she pulled a face and refused to eat it .I mentioned it to the staff and they brought her some pasta, I ended up taking her back home and cooking her something . Going to try Millfields instead when I am looking after her.Her parents went in to the Wheatsheath to eat the other day and a lady was actually chocking on the food.So they asked me not to take her in there to eat anymore.

Cam in for food and a few drinks the other night, food was brilliant and so was the service from a young lad named rhys, Mrs all of our needs and was very polite,100% returning!!

Food was ordered for the both of us and we chose the Steak night offer. We were told there were no Onion fries available which I misunderstood for an alternative to standard fries but, no, this was part of the meal. We werent offered an alternative or discount I also asked if it was possible to swap garden peas for a small portion of Salad on 1 of the meals. This was done but unbelievably I was charged an extra £1.50 for this; a few lettuce leaves and half a tomato! To top it all, the chips that came with both meals were barely warm but we ate them because we were very hungry although I did state this to the server I was very much underwhelmed and considering the pub has just had a refurbishment, I expected better quality Mr R Emmerson

Good beer selection and a good selection of wines. Food is wholesome but pies have little meat and coleslaw has way too much mayonnaise. Staff are pleasant and helpful but always in a hurry as the place is popular. Music generally too loud and seems to vary according to what the staff like?

I went with my friend to the wheatsheaf on Monday night, I wasnt impressed. Had a 3 course meal. Think they prepared the main while we still having the soup, it was cold, so they had to cook us another. I had the burger in a bun and chips, the 2nd burger was chewy and rubbery, none of it was very nice, I left most of it, my friends gammon wasnt cooked very well. Then they ran out of ice cream to go with my friends dessert, which was her 2nd choice, as they didnt have the sticky toffee so she asked for cream, which was the squirty cream which disappeared in seconds. Nice ambience but didnt enjoy the food. X

Had a roast beef Sunday roast that was cold, then a sticky toffee pudding with custard which was also cold, manager couldnt care less. Edit... visted again after the referb and the food is terrible, half roast chicken was fried far to long and was the smallest portion ever, cold custard again!!! Wont go again.

My Friend treated me to Lunch , and she suggested we came heres she had a discount code to pay . We were told there was up to an hour wait for food , which wasnt a great start , and it did take a hour for food to arrive when it did arrive staff were unable to tell which plate had well done steak or medium steak they had to take back to the kitchen to check ? . One of the meals had no prawns on as was surf and turf, so had to wait for these . Lots of people were asking when their food was going to arrive as they had been waiting such a long time, some people waited that long they cancelled and asked for a refund . I was told by a member of staff who was bringing the foo d to the tables if I wanted a pudding it wouldnt take as long as they do these ? . If my friend had paid full price £16.95 per meal I would of asked for a refund as it wasnt worth this price at all . I certainly would visit again. I wish we had gone to my usual restaurant The pear Tree where the service , atmosphere and food is excellent every visit, and I would recommend you do the same too .

Went into here for lunch as not been in since before Christmas as it was so poor quality food and nothing has changed £15 two soup two lime an soda to come out Luke warm and have to wait to get it reheated so disgusting that they carnt even warm a bowl of soup up Also the portion size is very small it is a babies portion Going forward yr or so and after refurb I thought I would try again to be even more dissatisfied an very disappointed today o orderd a lasagna and chips a coffee and a lime an soda £17 thought oh well put prices up up dew to refurb how ever on eating the lasagna I quickly realised it was jet black burnt on the bottom and sides rock hard and not very pleasant I did receive partial refund however I will not be returning any time soon Very disappointing

Booked a table for 9 poeple turned up and was only 7places at the table and the table wasnt level so when drinks where placed on it 2 of them slid off a member of staff said they where aware table was on slant and they would replace split drinks .was a long wait for food and when it did come most of the meals where cold .

Good atmosphere, helpful staff and good value food.

Great service, lovely atmosphere. I ordered the Bacon and Mushroom Carbonara, would highly recommend. My friend ordered the Ultimate Burger which looked great and she greatly enjoyed. Will be returning.

Visited over a weekday lunchtime. It was relatively quiet, but the pub is looking lovely after its renovation work. The service was generally good, although there was only a couple of ladies working and myself and another guest waited for some time for the staff to attend the bar to serve. Food was nice enough for what was paid.

I came here for mine and my mum Mother s Day meal with my dad and kids. 5 of us, we had an amazing meal, our eyes were bigger then our bellies. Erica and George looked after us, we had an amazing time, beautiful meal and lovely memories made. Thank you all xx

Nice initial impression and helpful staff. However two of mains were not available. Subsequently found another we had ordered was not available. Substituted with one £5 cheaper but had to ask 4 times before money returned. Starters arrived after 30 minutes and both soups cold. After an hour had to ask about mains. Arrived 5 minutes later and very good, same for puddings. Gents spoiled by lavatory paper in stalls and wash basins all night.

Dog Friendly Pub, great food and lovely atmosphere with the fires on. Staff always super helpful.

I visited for a Mother s Day meal on 10th March. My mum was handed daffodils when we arrived which was a lovely touch. The food was hot and came out quickly and bar staff and general staff were lovely and efficient. We will be returning x

The staff were excellent and very helpful in finding a place to eat and the service was also excellent. There is plenty of choices on the menu and the prices are fair for the quality of food that we had. The whole experience and the atmosphere in the new revamped pub was very comfortable. Without a doubt, we will be going back again.
