Really nice food and service, particularly the lovely waitress Sophie she went above and beyond to satisfy our needs.

A consistently good experience every time you visit. Good food, good service, cheerful staff.

Had a lovely lunch with my daughter, we were a walk in and no problem getting a table, have been using abbies for many years and the quality of the food is delicious and reasonable priced.

Decidedly underwhelming unfortunately. Bacon a bit tough, sausage flavourless but really good coffee. Noisy barista.

Had a great time with a family meal

Great place. Lovely atmosphere and food was great. Me and my girlfriend went two weeks ago. Special mention to Sophie who made us feel so welcome; she was an absolute delight.

Lovely food

Weve eaten at Abbys a couple of times now - once for a tapas evening and once for a relaxed breakfast. The food was fantastic on both visits and the service / product knowledge from staff was excellent - couple that with great value and whats not to love? Will definitely be visiting again in the future.

We came here for date night during the Christmas. The staff were lovely and the food was exceptional. Definitely one of the best in town. Highly recommend & we will be back!

Winter warmer special 2 for 1, I had Thai Fishcakes, very nice, dont think I needed the chips on the side though.

Nice lunch, had philly steak sandwich. My only criticism would be the steak was to over cooked for my liking.

Service was very slow but it was Christmas No Diane sauce for my meal so I said I d have peppercorn thinking it would come in a small jug, it didn t it was smothered over my meal , not nice. Fish and chips were amazing Christmas pudding so small I thought it would blow away

The staff were incredibly friendly, full of smiles and advice. The decor is pretty cosy, with a splash of elegance. I had the ribs, which was fall off the bone tender and quite tasty. Highly recommend the place.

Usually, the food is of a very good standard. Sadly, on our last visit, the food was not the usual portion or quality. The desert was missing the sides with no explanation or apology. The staff were obviously struggling with the number of customers, so clearly they were stressed. I will continue to visit and hope it was just temporary. However, I hope the next experience is better.

Went here with friends for an evening meal. It was fantastic! There was a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The surroundings were cosy and clean. The staff were great. We had a bit of fun with one of the waitresses. And the food was the best weve had in a very long time. Totally delicious! We would definitely recommend Abbeys and we shall definitely be returning!

Visited Abby s 11 August for our wedding anniversary 48 years staff was not informed but we where treated with respect very attentive, Sophie went above and beyond to make me a cocktail that was not on there menu it was delicious, food was lovely presented very nice will definitely return and recommend. Thankyou Sophie for making our evening feel more special you finished our day off perfectly.

Went last night for our work xmas do.table booked for 5.30 but 3 of us met earlier for a drink beforehand.although the restaurant was set up for partys the waiter had a table we could sit at until we were ready to move to our allocated table. All the 3 male waiters were lovely and friendly(never got their names),the food was beautiful,and the place is warm,cosy and very festive.thank you so much.x

Went for Christmas Lunch as part of a group, which can often mean a less than great experience. Not in this case, food was way better than expected, well presented, very good staff. Will definitely be back soon.

Decided to book for a lunchtime Christmas meal with my wife. Ordered the turkey Christmas meal with Christmas pudding. The whole atmosphere, food and service was excellent. Will call again. We recommend the restaurant for a pleasant atmosphere and meal.

Just got back from there after having lunch with friends. We are regulars there and today was the first time to be very disappointed!! Two of us had a lovely meal but our friend had to send the food back as it was all stone cold. We were told they would do her a replacement from scratch but the chicken had obviously been reheated and was so dry she couldnt eat it. So we left with one of us not having had any lunch. We werent charged for her meal but thats not the point. We are at the curious cat next week so are hoping to have a better experience!

Enjoyed lunch. A glass of fizz and a tasty snack for 2. After looking through the menu were looking forward to dinner in the near future.

Amazing place, hubby loved the food the service was great to. Also tried the drinks it was mocktails for me which were amazing and cocktails for the hubby who again thoroughly enjoyed them! Highly recommend checking this please out if your ever in the area!

The chef cooked the wrong meal for me and my mum. We then received our correct meal. When we subsequently went to pay they only charged us for the chips and the drinks. Perfect service! Would highly recommend both the food and the service from the polite staff.

Just had our wedding here and it was perfect from start to finish Callum couldnt do enough for us The staff were brilliant friend extremely funny and was good to have a some light hearted banta at times throughout our day!! The food was absolutely gorgeous everything was perfect from start to finish Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone If your looking for a wedding venue please look no further and just chose here you wont regret it trust me!!!! Went for family meal for my sons birthday, the food was delicious, some had 3 courses others 2,everyone really happy,staff polite and helpful as always we booked again for December

Ordered from the set menu but this was charged at full price. I found the chicken to be tough and sent it back to the kitchen. A discount was applied to the price of the meal but it worked out to be roughly equal to the price I would have paid if the meal had been priced correctly in the first place. The fish pie was missing the prawns. I was disappointed at the quality of the food, given the price!

Food and service is fantastic here. I had the deep fried brie for a starter, small fish and chips and mulled Eton mess for dessert and it was all good to perfection and tasted yummy. I will definitely be going back xx

Attended the wedding of Sharon and Steve Gladwell here, the service and staff were absolutely fantastic, they are a credit to you, nothing was to much for our needs, highly recommended, cant wait to go there again soon

The menu has CHANGED. Please look at updated online reviews since the 3rd August 2021. If you want a burger (yes they now have burgers) go to McD at a 10th of the cost. Chips were soggy and uncooked. The tartin pastry was uncooked My wives lobster was excellent but not the place or reputation it had. The staff was excellent but sad to say will never go back unless the food improves.

Had fish and chips with mushy peas , the fish was superb , the chips , I,v had better looked like they had been under a heat lamp for half an hour , the mushy peas served in a small pot hardly enough for two mouthfuls, come on guys , its mushy peas not caviar, serve a decent portion .got served a hot sponge pudding with a soup spoon , when I asked for a sweet spoon the waitress said they didnt have any , I ended up being given a tea spoon , come on guys, I,m not being unreasonable am I, such a shame as its a lovely place , but feel the staff may need some more training .

First visit to abbys and wont be the last the camanbert sharer was really good, my husband had the burger which was cooked to perfection. I had the pie of the day and the meat in it was melt in the mouth. Highly recommend as the service is fantastic as well

Chicken was raw, pink and slime white tint, i had belly ache after, dont recommend

Not been to Abbys for years and was pleasantly surprised at the change in decor as it used to be a bit dark but now it is light and cheery. Food is just as good and staff are polite. They have plastic screening to section off each seating area so I felt really comfortable and not crowded. Toilets available.

I highy recommended Abbys. The atmosphere is friendly and cosy. I arranged an evening meal for a party of 27 people. There is a good choice of food to cater for all tastes. The food was exquisite and the service was exemplary. All the food was brought out at the same time and all of the guests were impressed with the food and Abbys in general.

We had a very nice light lunch. Reasonably priced good quality. Very nice friendly atmosphere

Always enjoy going to Abbys. Staff very courteous, atmosphere great and food excellent quality. Hubby always enjoys the fish and chips but the steaks are always cooked to perfection and my regular go to when dining here.

I had the tapas 6 dishes for £26 and it was lovely and you get plenty it easy feeds two people. The tapas is the best in town. Other people in our group ordered of the normal menu and they all said the food was lovely. The serves was brillant and the food came really quick we had a really good night cant wait to go back.

A good venue, the quality of the food is high. Have been to business meetings there and the venue is good for this as in a nice parade of shop, in the town centre and ample parking spaces nearby.
