Quick lunch service, my food arrived at the table about 15 minutes after i sat down at the table. My waitress was pleasant and efficient during a busy friday lunch hour.

This is a great place with an owner who cares about his community. Dont miss this gem in Grimsby!! Fabulous!

Your response just proves my point about your unprofessionalism and arrogance. Threatening to call my employer instead of taking accountability for your rude and disrespectful behavior is laughable. I followed the signage that said Delivery Only, yet your staff kept lying about the wait time for 10 minutes, only to rudely dismiss me with an unprofessional attitude. Saying I can do whatever I want is not how you run a business. Newsflash: delivery drivers are a crucial part of your operations, not punching bags for your attitude. If this is how you treat people, good luck keeping your business afloat.

I just happened to be jonesing to throw some darts and grab a bite to eat. So.. naturally, The Forty came to mind. Well the Amber pints certainly hit the spot but the sandwich I chose was truly great! The Chicken Avocado Club! What can I say!? The chicken was beautifully done and I I m coming back to try the lamb shank. I mean, if the sandwich was that good.. why not!? Thanks to all. Great experience!

Ordered a chicken sandwich from skip the dishes. The chicken in the sandwich was so overcooked that I could not even pull a piece off in my first bite. It was extremely tough and I couldn t even eat it. Disappointing.

We went for happy hr and enjoyed the full size apps at half price and the lasagna which came with Caesar salad. Everything was delicious.

Wow! I cant express how impressed I am with The Forty Public Houses burger experience! From the moment I walked in, the aroma of sizzling burgers filled the air, instantly whetting my appetite. Now, onto the star of the show the burgers! Each bite was an explosion of flavor, with perfectly seasoned patties cooked to juicy perfection. The toppings were fresh and thoughtfully chosen, adding layers of texture and taste that left me craving more. And lets not forget about the buns soft, yet sturdy enough to hold everything together without getting soggy. But its not just about the burgers the service was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations that enhanced my dining experience. Incredibly welcoming, warm atmosphere (temp was also perfect on a cold day) and the food was amazing! I wish I took pictures of the food because everything was homemade! Killer mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers and don t get me started on the $10 lunch special which includes a huge sandwich and side! Nice beer choices on tap! Bench brewery, Guinness and if you re nostalgic, some good Ole V. If you want to stretch your dollar and have a delicious meal, this is the place!!

It was my first time going and it was nice.

We stumbled across this place while waiting to check in to our lodging and it was so good we went back again! Everything we tried was great - appetizers, salads, entrees, and beer. The staff was very friendly and had great recommendations. Even when a 50 person party came in, they were able to serve the other groups promptly and expertly. Vegetarian options: Many varied options - amazing robust salads and appetizers and several good entree choices. Parking: Plenty of 1-2 hour parking spots on Main St and a small public lot around the corner behind some businesses.

Got some wings and my spouse got butternut squash ravioli. We both enjoyed ourselves alot, and the drinks were great. Our server, Russ, was exceptional. The place was packed yet we never sat with an empty drink. We would highly recommend this place. Food

We were there last weekend. The food was really good, so were the two bands we saw that night. We will be back

I ordered a steak Sammy for my self with a side of gravy. I also ordered a chicken club with avocado for my wife. When we got home to Dunnville to eat dinner with our takeout order...my wifes sandwich smelled funny. The bread on my sandwich was burnt as were my fries. Also there was no gravy on the side that I paid for. Unfortunately I live 45 minutes away so I xant bring my food back to redo. Also...my waitress seemed to be over worked. I stood at the bar waiting for my food...then waiting g to pay for the food. Overall not a good experience.

This place is a dive bar with terrible frozen food. I had the chicken sandwich and I m pretty sure I could have had better quality at McDonald s for half the price. The atmosphere is fine and the server was nice but it s nothing special.

The servers were attentive and cheerful. That is pretty much the only positive to our visit on Family Day! The food we ordered was either over done or not cooked completely. My son sent his food back to have it cooked more and my rib dinner was dry and not appetizing at all. The only meal out of four that was reasonable was the salad with chicken on top. It is a shame as we live close by and I really wanted to like this place! We did not want to upset our server as she was very nice and attentive so we didnt say anything to her. The lady that brought the food out was kind enough to bring my sons meal back to the kitchen to complete the cooking process. In hind sight we should have mentioned our overall dissatisfaction to our server. Thank you for your quick response!

Good bartender at New years Eve party. However they advertised New years Eve party until 2:00 am. Being responsible i arranged a ride home at 2:00am. They closed at 12:30. Was told the manager made that decision. Trying to get home in Grimsby on New Years was impossible. I finally found an Uber at 1:20am at surged pricing. Im not impressed. Ahhere to your posted hours.

Excellent food, service and great lunch special.

Our experience was excellent. I had the lobster dip as an appetizer, and boy, was it tasty, and the serving was generous. The lamb shank that I had was also very good and fall off the bone tender Overall great price for todays prices, and would definitely go back.

Fantastic pub! The food is great, amazing staff. Good bands on the weekends.

Made a reservation for a party a week ahead of time. When we arrived the manager was not prepared for us and only had about half the seats I had reserved. She was also quite rude about the situation which was quite surprising. Luckily we were able to go to the neighbouring restaurant where they quickly put together an area of tables for us and accommodated the party no problem. Reminder, if the manager says there should be no problem, if you don t hear from me then that means good news and we have the space figured out she in fact does have a problem, does not have the space figured out and it is bad news. 0/10 effort. Me and my party of 20 will not be returning.

Terrible food, Terrible service.

Love love love The Forty. The bartender Jamie is so friendly and takes great care of us. The menu is great, plenty of options but not so many that it becomes daunting. The food is excellent and the owner does great things for the community. 10/10

Bartender was our server he was very rude when I asked him for a mocktail option. The place was dead, aero ice was horrible, bartender was awful. The food we could order (that wasn t sold out) was decent. Will not go back.

We had dinner last night, a bill of $230. Service was TERRIBLE. Place was empty, our server PM BAR was awful. Threw our food at us, cleared the table so fast that dirty utensils fell on us. Just a terrible server, so unpleasant and made our dinner unenjoyable. It s service like we experienced that puts restaurants out of business. I regret having left a 10% tip, I should have left zero. Will never return.

Really wish servers would write orders down. We heard many apologies to other tables for errors with their orders (at least 4 other tables). We ordered chicken wings as a starter and they arrived with our meals, and the burger order was incorrect. The wings were tasty but truly the size of my pinkie finger. No one came to check on us during our meal and it took forever to get the bill. Place wasn t even that busy.

I have come to this public house for about six months now while waiting for my daughter to have a sporting practice every Tuesday. I get to have Niki as my bartender and cannot say enough about her. Best bartender and person. I come back here because of Niki. She is great and I know because I m in the industry as well. Kudos to Niki!!!!

The BEST pub in Grimsby, hands down. The food is great (the poutine is a particular fav, highly recommend), prices are reasonable for portion size, and the service is always amazing. We go most Wednesdays for date night, and its always a reliable good time. The service is what really makes this place. All of the ladies are great, but Niki is the friendliest, most attentive server Ive ever had the pleasure to have - she treats you like family right off the bat. Be sure to ask her (or any of the staff!) for their recommendations - all of the food is good, but they know whats best of the best!

Parking is better at the back of place. Place looked good as we walked in. Sat at a benched table. Hard to get out of. Waiter told us right away that they had a shortage of things on the menu. Mostly micro breweries on tap. Had Stella in a bottle but no glass. The menu should of had some pictures on it. What the 4 of us ordered was good. All our orders were hot when arrived. Prices were average for a roadhouse. We will try again, this time for lunch. Parking: Behind restaraunt with more than enough spaces Wheelchair accessibility: .No stairs.

If I could give the service 6 stars I would! Jamie and Bridget were amazing. I ordered something that wasnt what I thought it was and they fixed it with no hesitation and with the best attitude. The menu had a good selection and the food was very good with good sized servings. Excellent beer selection and super cheap on a Sunday. Will definitely be back!

Ive been going to this place with my dad for years now and I just realized I ve never written a review about it so here goes, the forty is great. The food is awesome with my favourite being that oh so good lobster mac and cheese (trust me it s to die for). The staff are awesome and very friendly people. Definitely a great place for dinner.

Great pub atmosphere with a solid menu. Had the lamb shank with beet and goat cheese salad. The lamb shank was perfect. Overall, I recommend this place for a get-together with family or friends. Parking: lots of parking out back.

Aaaaaamazing! The atmosphere and staff are incredible. We came today on my birthday for their taco night and it was just perfect. Steak tacos are to die for. Thanks for posting our taco picture!

EDIT: Had to update this, as the last 3 times Ive been, its been pretty rough. Nearly everything we ate was very mediocre, with the SMALLEST wings Ive literally ever seen (are they from pigeons?), cold chewy fries, fatty grisly ribs, and prices that have continued to climb consistently. Yes, EVERYWHERE has been increasing their prices, but nowhere near this much. During COVID, we LOVED ordering food from Forty, and even after in-restaurant dining returned, we went frequently as a family. It just seems that theyre coasting now and not really paying any attention to quality or listening to feedback. One last criticism that I HAVE to mention, the poor waitress at our meal last night was by herself managing the entire restaurant AND the bar... with a line crawling out the front door by the time we left. Makes me feel concerned about the survivability of this place. ORIGINAL: Everything was rock solid. Went with my wife and 3 kids, everyones food was good, if not great. Waitress was very friendly and helpful, prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was relaxing but not too dark. Beer selection is the best in the area for any pub, but unfortunately thats not saying much. PLEASE get more local stuff!!

A friend and I shared a bunch of appetizers and they were fabulous. It was a quiet afternoon and and we had a comfy booth. The only downside was there were quite a few flies buzzing around that wouldnt leave us alone.

I am a regular customer here, I love this place! Although todays visit was one of the worst experiences Ive had I usually have the male server I think he may be manager. Today I got the Texan burger that was recommended and it was tasteless yuck! Then I found what looked to be a eyelash in my salad but hey my server never came back till everyone was done so

The food was great, our table shared four different appetizers. Service was understaffed when we got there but our waitress was great.

Pub style restaurant. Service was very good. Ample seating available. Food was really good. Parking: Parking lot available in the back. Kid-friendliness: Kids are more than welcome. They offer a kids menu as well.

1st time we went, it was amazing....the food, the service, etc. We were a group of 4 for a bday dinner...and just awesome. Fast forward to June, another bday dinner but we ordered through skip. So far everything was good....until we went to eat. The burgers were amazing again for those that ordered burgers....the fries....terrible....burnt and unedible and gravy forgotten, unsure if we were charged. One person couldnt even eat half their meal. Again, the bunger ppl did okay. And here we are today....couldnt order properly through skip so called in, our order was simple with no substitutes except no tomato on 1 order. Again, the burgers were excellent but the fries just sucked. They were so dark and over cooked and cold even though we had to wait for our order to be finished and live 3 to 4 blocks away. We all threw them out and with being takeout, wasnt worth the hassle going back, esp with the street market going on. It was very disappointing. Im sensing a theme with take out....we would never have taken those fries had we been dining in, nor do I think they would have been served to us. Just very disappointing. This time we also did not get our gravy and we were charged....only $1.....but I ordered and paid for it. Sad to say I dont think we will be ordering again. A shame as our 1st experience was amazing.

Came in for an early dinner with my girlfriend on a Sunday. Very happy with our experience here at The Forty Public House. The food we ordered was delicious, cooked to perfection and the pricing was extremely fair. Highly recommend A+++ We will be back to try out more of the menu. Thanks

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Lots of TVs and good music playing, service was excellent and food well time when ordering an app before dinner.

The staff was friendly and provided good service. The vibe inside was pretty good for a bar. We ordered chicken wings and some beers. The wings were not good, I would not recommend them. They were un breaded, over cooked and of poor quality. The beer selection could improve. They were missing many staple beers that a majority of bars offer. We will be back to give some other menu items a chance.

Good place to grab a drink and have a meal. Food is surprisingly good, a specialty the wings and the people are great there.

The place was ok at best, but I doubt Id go back if Im in that area. Service was ok. A dinner was forgotten ( there were 6 of us dining), so we waited until everyone was served and our food was cold. My lamb was very fatty, and the potatoes had way too much rosemary in it! The veggies looked like they were taken out of the garbage and put on my plate. This, of course, is only based my experience. Perhaps the kitchen staff was having an off night. Out of 6, only one had a good meal. Im sure its an ok place for the locals. I would not recommend it for anyone out of town, again just my opinion.. please try for yourself !

If you valued your customers than you should have not put out the quality you did and corrected it yourself before it reached the table. Also, based on some of the most recent reviews, Im clearly not the only one who has a problem with the quality either. I like how you believe that your mistakes should fall on the customer. Ive gone ahead and attached a picture for you of some of my food that is clearly burnt. Thanks for coming out with your rude response as I was just giving an honest review. Now people will also know that you clearly dont care at all and with that attitude? Id highly doubt you would have corrected anything. Now you get 1 star. They brand themselves high, but very mediocre food. As someone who both cooks and is a food critic I must say I was surprised at the low quality for the price. 1. Garlic bread they claim has loads of cheese, didnt have much at all but was fresh so you basically paid $11.50 for a loaf of bread. 2. The mussels were delicious this was their best dish, however, they were very small mussels and at $16. Other places offer the larger ones for this price. 3. The steak was very plain for something to apparently have butter, the pasta and parm was very plain and nothing special and the French fries were not fresh at all and the vegetables werent even steamed long enough. Parm dinner $20 Steak dinner $30. 4. The server was absolutely fantastic which is the only reason for the two star. Conclusion: Around $96 for the dinner that was mediocre at best. Id recommend adding more flavor to your dishes (spices and change the ingredients) and lastly if you make a claim on your menu ie. loads of cheese, please do so. Probably wont be going back to give it another chance after that price and quality and its very unfortunate as I was looking for a new go to place. Best of luck :)

I like this place. Its got a cool vibe and a menu surprising good for a pub. Goat cheese and beet salad with steak is delish. Watch out for the house made jalapeno poppers . The service is quick and staff are friendly. Live music on the weekend. Everything is priced fairly.

Went on a weekday for the first time after checking out Grimsby Glows outdoor event. There was one person taking care of both tables and behind the bar... Did a great job. Appetizer was okay. We enjoyed the drinks.

Our go to date night on a Friday with a live band! Love the food, staff, and atmosphere! Always a great perk is Kids eat free every night! I do not know another establishment that offers that! Kid-friendliness: Kids Eat Free!!

Salmon was not what I order it was supposed to lemon flavor had maple or something - fish and chips were terrible the fish was cooked earlier and then re heated never saw anything like that fires were wilted and over cooked. Not sure what is so hard about an extra veg - burnt carrots and beets.

It was a nice place to play darts. I didnt eat so cant rate the food, but the service was great and the surroundings were suitable for our team.

The beer was good, service was acceptable, food was terrible. Both my husband and I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was overdone, batter was dry and very crunchy, fries were also overdone, just short of being burnt. They advertise home cut fries on their menu, they were thin frozen fries. Overpriced for the quality, will not be going back.

Our visit was Friday December 1. Hostess was very accommodating. Waitress was good. My wife and I ordered the fish and chips. The portions where very good, however, the fish batter was over done and very crunchy leaving the fish dry. The fries did not appear to be hand cut as advertised and very over done in clearly oil that was burnt leaving them with a very bad taste. Hope this helps the establishments kitchen practices. Not in any hurry to go back.

Went to the Forty on a Thursday night and had no idea it was trivia! So much fun. Maddie was our server and she was so great. Energetic, engaged and on top of everything. The chicken tacos were a bonus on top of a great night! Looking forward to going back

My husband and I have been coming to The Forty literally since the first night they opened 8 years ago and we love it! The staff are amazing, the menu is huge, the food is great. We love the pretzels, steak sandwich, wings, lobster macaroni, and their salads! Also, huge shoutout to their house made daily soups! They are delicious!! On the weekends they have live music playing that sounds great! On Thursday s they have trivia. It s just a great pub to come and hang out and unwind for a couple of hours. We highly recommend this place if you want a good meal at a comfortable, cool neighbourhood pub!

Great place for lunch fast service great hosts

Service was excellent and we ordered the fish and chips. The fish and chips were good although they were over cooked in the deep fryer making the batter very crunchy.

UPDATE: The owner reached out to me and tried his best to resolve all issues. As someone who has worked in the food service industry for years, I find that kind of initiative very admirable. I look forward to coming back on a dinner date with my boyfriend and hopefully the restaurant has recovered well from the pandemic. During COVID-19 Stage 1: *EDIT* dont want to leave scathing review since the issue was remedied. Originally I wasnt pleased with the food or service.

I stopped by here the past weekend on the way back from Niagara. I had a hard time choosing what to eat as majority of the menu sounded appetizing. Ended up getting the big texan burger and it was amazing. Our server was mad chill and service was great.

We came to The Forty for our first time today, and it wont be our last. The staff was exceptional. Jamie looked after us and treated us like family. The food was fresh and exceptionally tasty. We had the cauliflower bites, garlic bread, then the steak salad and the salmon. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and belies the gourmet quality of the meals. You cant go wrong here. Was here tonight for the first time and LOVED IT!!.. When someone offers me a big Mac burger, they immediately become my best friend. Ordered some wings for take out. Zero sauce and extremely dry. Without sounding dramatic these were the worst wings weve ever had.

I hate to give this place a bad review because the staff was friendly but these are some of the worst chicken wings Ive had in my life. There was no sauce on them and no, we did not order a dry rub. Too bad it was takeout and we were already home. Also, the blue cheese that came with the veggies was a dry onion dip mixed with sour cream. Really wanted to like this place but pass!

We left standing at the door for way too long and then waited way too long after we were seated. Guess what? Tired of waiting, we decided to go somewhere else. Too bad. We were hungry...

Great service, yummy food, with kids options.

The burger was delicious! I had the house special which happened to be a traditional burger on a pretzel bun with cheese sauce. The fish and chips was good with a LARGE serving of fish. The Mac and cheese was tasty too. The waitress was very friendly, but man... Service was slow. I think there was a larger party indoors and we were on the patio. Either way, Id go back again.

Went to the Forty today for lunch. It was perfect. We had the bacon wrapped jalapeño peppers, some chicken wings and a kids burger for my little one. Everything was fresh and tasty. We tried the Oast House strawberry and rhubarb which our waitress Nikki suggested and gave us a sample of. It was fabulous. Excellent service and food. Highly recommend.

Good environment, friendly staff and clean.

Came by a few weeks ago with a friend. Great and friendly service as always. We were served/checked on by the bartender and server, It was clear they were both happy to help. We had the pulled pork poutine which was awesome! Will be back to try more of the menu!

1. Dont trust the pictures because according to staff they are from before covid and display items they no longer carry 2. Not in love with the attitude on the phone but we all have bad days 3. Ive had better ravioli out of a can 4. Glad I tried this place so I can cross it off my list and never go back

We have been here 4 or 5 times the service is generally good but today the service was beyond horrible wont be coming back. Waiter came across rude not only to our table but the two other tables beside us.. you should probably advise them not charge people for things they didnt order for starters and have better waiters with some customer service skills. Kid-friendliness: Horrible for kids went with a one year old and three year old no high chair offered meal options for kids could be better only real option was the Hamburger or grill cheese sandwich... they also had plain pasta with no sauce (seriously tomato sauce is so cheap)

Went for lunch today, waitress was nice, fast service, decent prices, and good portions sizes!

Place was clean, waitress was friendly and approachable. Music was just right. Nice cozy place to go to!

Soothing ambiance in lovely town of Grimsby Excellent food, must try their signature beers, we had lager and light both, not disappointed at all. Server/ bartender was cheerful They even let us sample their signature beers Being vegetarian i was curious about my veggie burger, one word,lip smacking!

Service was good enough for a pub. The burger was pretty good but the fries were soggy.

The dry rub wings were pretty decent, nachos were ok..lacking flavor. Service was meh ..the bartender seemed to have attitude and wasnt very friendly..

Fabulous pub with live entertainment! Especially enjoyed the energy on a Friday night! Burt Reynolds Shooter is a must try for butterscotch lovers! Parking: Free Parking - lots out back and on some Main St. Wheelchair accessibility: Front door level access.
