Lang On The Water in Grimsby

Lang has to be my favourite place to go in the entire region. I mean there s so many restaurants you can compare but wouldn t come close. Year round restaurant to visit. No matter the weather, the food hits the spot. Incredible food, amazing staff and beautiful restaurant. You can tell they do it with passion.

Just came across this place and very happy I did. I love Vietnamese food and this place has it. I ordered the rare beef pho as I always do when I first find a good Vietnamese restaurant, I always order the simple dish first, i figure if the simple dishes arent good then why bother with the rest...the rare beef pho was amazing. When the chef finished preparing it he brought it out to me as it was to go, and I ask him about the authentic the menu was he assured me that it was very much Vietnamese except for a couple dishes that are tweeked for the non Vietnamese people and told me that if I wanted any of those dishes that he would make them pure Vietnamese style. Very nice people and will definitely be returning for great Vietnamese food. Good job

Amazing view of the lake, it was such a clear day that we could see the CN tower. Beef vermicelli was delicious, good portion size, a little more onions than I expected. Pho was a bit over salted. Vegetarian options: Small vegetarian menu section

Discrimination.....I went to Langs around 8:55 pm tonight with a friend. The patio was full of people, with a few spots left open. We wanted to sit on the patio, and have a beer. We stood at the front, where the sign says to stand and wait to be seated. The lady inside sitting on the chair looked me up and down a few times and never came out to seat us. She just kept staring at me and my friend from her chair inside. Then a young man came out and said that their kitchen was closed and we couldnt be seated. I let him know that we were not looking for anything from the kitchen, and that we just wanted a beer on the patio. He then said well not only is our kitchen closing early, we are actually closing the entire restaurant at 9pm. I mentioned to him that its 8:55pm and the sign in the window and Google say you close at 10 pm; its Saturday night. He just says they arent seating us and they are closing. Thats ridiculous. They have a full restaurant and they were clearly not closing early. Im not sure why everyone else got served and we got turned away. And I live in the area, I did not expect to be treated this way.

The only thing that I am not satisfied is only 6 small pieces of shrimp paste in the mango salad. The pieces are much smaller than my little finger and they are too dry.

Went there for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The view combined with the food makes it worth the drive from Beamsville. I had fresh rolls and Pad Thai, and it was one of the best I have had in a long time. Price is higher than average but overall I find it worth it to visit once in a while

Great experience here and the location is prime for a walk on the lake before/after. Vietnamese food was very satisfying and the portions are huge. I wish they cooked the shrimp and rice more to get rid of the fishy smell but otherwise an amazing time and the service was top notch!

We had dinner at Làng On The Water after graduation and it was a perfect way to close a great day and celebrate a great occasion. The patio, the view of Lake Ontario and the Toronto Skyline made the perfect combination for relaxation and reflection. Thanks guys!!

Ive been here a few times to try different items on their menu and its nothing to write home about. The food ranges from bland to average. In terms of service most of the time it is satisfactory, but last time was terrible. In my most recent visit with my family of three, the waitress brought out two bowls of soup for my family. Then she went to check on my order of soup. She came back a few minutes later and said the kitchen staff forgot my order...fast forward 20 minutes my family had finished their meals and mine finally hit the table...Needless to say, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Amazing fresh and delicious Vietnamese food. All 4 of us loved our meals and appetizers. We had the fresh rolls with delicious peanut dipping sauce. Portions were very generous.

I visited here a few days ago to enjoy a vacation with my family. When we visited, they didnt guide us to the seats, but said we could sit anywhere we wanted. So we sat down to eat inside and not patio, and from then on, they started to lose interest in all the servers. Even after 10 minutes, they didnt even look at us, and all the servers ignored us. An Asian server found us from the patio, came in and took the order. Thats how I ordered 3 pho and spring roll, but fruit flies came out of my husbands pho. (Twice! Once with flies abd once with tiny caterpillar) And when I got the new pho and ate it, I found a caterpillar. When I showed my husband another caterpillar, a server came and said it looks like a bean sprouts. Shouldnt you guys tell me sorry first? No server never said sorry to us when the bug came out of the first pho, or when the caterpillar came out of the new pho. The service was the worst ever since we first entered the restaurant, and I cant forget the disrespect of the servers until we ordered food and ate and got into trouble. And the server talked to someone on the phone and said we dont have to pay for the rice noodles my husband ate. We could hear sorry when we paid. I remember my parents saying that disrespect is like ignorance I heard that kindness comes from leisure, but its a pity for the servers. I hope the people who work there will have a relaxed mind. Also! The Asian server was coming towards us when one of the white server said NO! Very aggressively. What is wrong???

This is the first time I come to Lang and I feel this is the best place to go to eat with family and I like Com Tam Suon best (recomment to try). I ll comeback with my family again!!

The worst pad Thai we have ever had with green peppers broccoli onions etc..,,,more like a vegetable stir fry with very little flavor. We were also denied seating in the restaurant even tho it was 15 minutes before closing as stated on the website Unfortunately it was not a good experience and we will not be back

A hidden gem in Grimsby on the lake! Food was really great! Banhmi sandwich with beef soup on the side hit the spot. Bun vermicelli was also a hit! Really great flavors! Pho was rich and complex. Banh mi was tangy with a great fresh pop.fr the carrot and daikon garnish. Service was fast and friendly.

Food, environment is always good. I normally come here couple weeks here and there. Server today, lady with glasses and brown/blondish hair. She was really rude and disgusting service. Threw items into the desk. Including the bill. Didn t speak to us, check on us when we got our food. I believe her friend or mom was waiting at the bar, so she was diverting her attention to her, and positively communicating with everyone else in the front. Extremely uncomfortable, felt discriminated, not served properly, at a place we normally go.

Visit Date: Fathers Day Weekend I had family visiting from Brussels, Vancouver, and Calgary, and we drove from Mississauga to Grimsby to support a local Vietnamese restaurant. There were 14 of us, and after a 1.5-hour drive, we were looking forward to a pleasant meal. Unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired and gave my family a bad impression of Grimsby. When we arrived, we waited outside for a hostess to greet us. The hostess opened the door partially and asked how many people were in our group. When we said 14, she appeared annoyed and told us that they were very busy, and there were no tables available. She mentioned it would be a 40-minute wait, which we were willing to accept despite her negative attitude. Eventually, she suggested we sit on the patio. We arranged our own tables next to each other without obstructing any walkways. To our complete shock, two waitresses approached us aggressively. One of them, who was blonde, yelled at us to separate the tables immediately, claiming we were blocking an emergency exit. Her tone was hostile, and she completely ignored our attempts to explain. The great part is there were no customers or tables across from us so there was NOTHING to block. Feeling disrespected and unwelcome, we decided to leave. As we walked away, the waitress sarcastically raised her hands and exclaimed, Just great. This rude and unprofessional behavior completely ruined our outing. I hope the management reads this review and takes action to improve their hiring practices and customer service. Such treatment of customers is unacceptable and damaging to the business. Completely disgusted.

Just another noodle house. Nothing special..hours are stupid tho..who closes at 9 on a weekend.

We went for a dinner when I was in the area after quite a while I haven t been back. Good food, and great service, just a little pricy. They ve gone up since the last time I came here I think. Other than that, I loved their layout and the amazing view by the window from the inside.

My husband and I were recommended to eat Lang by lake by a family. Beautiful restaurant very clean and view of the lake while was just really.. most of the food was excellent. My husband had the oxtail PHO, he said it was amazing. I had the vermicelli bowl chicken and lemongrass, delicious. The service was is an excellent, the waitress were amazing.

Cannot say enough about Lang. Been here about four times now and never disappointed with the food choice made. Portions are very substantial and very delicious. Their soup bowls are fantastic and so is their stir fry!!! Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. You will come away satisfied!!

For Vietnamese food, this place was bland and lacked flavour. Never had I been disappointed about Vietnamese food. Besides it being by the water, there is nothing special about this place. Its very westernized and if youre looking for traditional flavours, this place is not it.

A lovely location for a quiet meal. The spring rolls were delicious and the pho was very tasty. I had#10 with added rare beef. I would have liked it rare. It was cooked. Other than that a great restaurant that I would definitely visit again. I would have given a 4.5 for food but there are only whole stars.

I had recently discovered this restaurant on a random Sunday going for a walk with my family. I ordered the pork banh mi sandwich and it was amazing !!! Highly recommend it and their service was great too will be coming back again for those delicious sandwiches!!!

Great hidden resturaunt in the new condo/townhouse development at Casablanca exit off the QEW. Food came out fast, fresh, and perfect! Service, decor, atmosphere and views of lake Ontario were all amazing. Cant wait to use the patio in the Summer!

We were down for the eclipse in Grimsby and discovered Lang on the Water. What a great place and the view was spectacular!! Great service and the food was wonderful. Appetizers were spring rolls so fresh. There were 5 of us and we all ordered something different: pad tai, chicken dish , soups etc. and we were all happy with our choices. Great evening topping off a wonderful day !!

The server was quick and very personable and helpful. The grilled lemongrass pork with vermicelli was very good. My friend got the Lang special and said it was also very good. They also have delicious sauces at your table. I tried them all and they were delicious.

Banh Mi sandwiches are delicious and awesome service! Comes with a broth Came a second time for dinner. We ordered the pad thai with chicken and shrimp as well as a Large grilled chicken Pho with extra chicken Pho soup is very fragrant and tasty. Pad thai was packed with ingredients, large pieces of shrimp, chicken, sweet peppers, onions, tofu, egg, bean sprouts and broccoli. In the end we had to take part of both dishes home because it was such great portion sizes. Highly recommend!! Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp towards a large entrance

What a beautiful restaurant at a beautiful location looking over lake Ontario. Found this place on a drive with my Mum and left full and happy. The cold rolls are yummy with excellent flavour of the pork and peanut sauce. Wonton Noodle soup was a warm hug with the wontons super flavourful. Pad Thai was well cooked and had great base flavors. I would come back and recommend. My mum needs mild dishes. Next time I would spice it up to enjoy even more.

Good quality, fresh and perfectly cooked crisp vegetables, on a beautiful plate, hugging rightly sauced vermicelli noodles with flavours, freshness and wholeness bursting in your mouth. Highly recommend Village on the Water, a family business, now thats how you now its perfection.

I ve visited 3 times and every time is fantastic. The food is fresh and so good! It s in a beautiful location too. It s kid friendly - my son loves the pho soup.

I ve found it hit or miss here. The Pho is great! But I found the pad Thai off and not at all like traditional pad Thai, lacking the usual vegetables etc

The food arrived very quickly once ordered. We had the Tofu Fresh Roll as a starter which was ok but didnt seem too fresh. It came with a peanut sauce, which isnt stated on the menu nor mentioned by the server. My partner has a slight alltergy to peanuts and we knew from ordering Vietnemese elsewhere that fresh spring rolls may come with that so he just avoided it. But, if its your first time eating this type of food and you have an allergy, it is worth confirming at the restaurant if it is served with anything peanut as it wasnt clear for this particular item on the menu (it is mentioned for others). We also had the Pho Tai (Rare Beef Noodle Soup) and the Bun Bo Hue (Hue Style Spicy Vermicelli) which were both good and filling.

We were very excited to treat our friends from Oakville to this beautiful restaurant by the Lake in Grimsby. However, although the food was good , the service could be improved. We ordered many dishes but 2 dishes were not served. We did not realize until almost finish . When the Waiter was told, his attitude was blank...left without saying a word then returned with the 2 dishes. Of course by then we no longer needed it but he did not explain that he wS getting it or we would have stopped him. No apogise or discount offered on the bill. We did not want doggie bag but was forced to bring one home. I hesitate to return here. Thank you

Great Vietnamese restaurant in the Niagara region! Nice view too!

We are fans of Vietnamese food. Family of 4 dined here for my son s bday. Menu offered great selection of dishes. We enjoyed the veggie spring rolls & salad rolls. Portions were large. 2 people could easily share 1 dish. Good service. Nice ambiance. Fabulous views. Honestly, really disappointed with their food tonight. I ordered a shrimp and chicken pad Thai and fresh spring rolls with shrimp and grilled pork. The fresh rolls were delish. The shrimp and marinated grilled pork was umami all wrapped in a rice wrapper. Delicous. However, the pad Thai was not so good... It was extremely oily, wet even. The sauce was bright red which is unusual for pad Thai. The noodles were over cooked as well. The fried tofu was a sponge of oil and grease from the noodles. I know fried tofu is oily but this was exceptional. Im sorry but charging 25 for pad Thai and serving something that is not up to par isnt right. I dont usually have gripes or feedback for restaurants but since this was a more expensive meal, I thought Id share my experience. I really do wish best for this restaurant and I know their other grilled meat dishes are amazing. I was hoping that their pad Thai would meet the same standard. Just food for thought if you are ordering take out.

We are very new to Grimsby on the lake, but Langs is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The flavour and portions are amazing, we have been here quite a few times and every time we are extremely satisfied!

While driving back to Toronto from Niagara Falls, we stopped for lunch at Lang on the Water for its waterfront location. Though service could be a tad friendlier, the food was absolutely delicious! They weren t kidding about being authentic and fresh. If you ever find yourself here, I highly recommend the Grilled Chicken & Mango Fresh Roll and H Ti u M Tho. You won t regret it!

Great spot that we randomly found while discovering around Grimsby. While the food was, not as flavourful as we imagined, they were refreshing for the day. The drinks were the best. Id had handed over the extra 1 star but, the restaurants name threw me off.... its Lang BY The Water. Wish it really was on it.

Pleasantly surprised to find a authentic Vietnamese restaurant on the drive between Niagara Falls and Toronto. The interior is modern, spacious, and nicely decorated. During the summer, there s a nice outdoor patio with a great view of Lake Ontario and you can even see the Toronto skyline on a clear day! I got the pho and it was super tasty with large portions, comparable to my usual go-to spots in Toronto. They also have a selection of cocktails available. Service was friendly and attentive. Pricing was higher than traditional pho joints, but worth it for the comfortable ambiance. All in all, a great experience.

This noisy lunch spot serves ok Pho and Bon. Not the best we have tasted but ok. The staff was very nice and efficient. The clientele were loud but enjoying their time at the restaurant. So good, I suppose. The view over the lake will be great in summer. If we are back we will sit outside. Perhaps some sound absorbing material on the walls might help.

If you love to have Vietnamese food or a fusion of Asian flavours while visiting Grimsby, then you should try out this restaurant. Food is good and has good portions that are shareable. You can customize your Pho and also have your stock separate so you indulge as you wish. The service was just ok. They also have a good selection of wine and drinks Noteworthy. This place has a very good view of the lake, you can always find some good reason to take a meal here after exploring Grimsby on the Lake. And you can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere on the patio too.

Went with a group of four for lunch. What a great place. They have a beautiful patio overlooking the lake, although we ate inside. . Our server was very friendly and offered some recommendations. The menu had a nice amount t of choices. Go here and try this place you wont be disappointed

I was a loyal customer for years but I haven t returned since realizing that they re taking advantage of the people around the area. Grimsby on the lake is a beautiful scene, as well as an area that is in demand. Considering it s one of the fewest Asian/ Vietnamese spots around here, I always came back because of the quality and location. I ve been coming to this place since they ve open prior to COVID. However through the years, I ve noticed that their service and quality has diminished. I understood raising their prices because of inflation and demand, but their portions are smaller as well as their food isn t the same quality anymore I don t get the food anymore, but I only went mainly for the Vietnamese iced coffee. As an Asian person myself, I can make my own at home, but some thing about someone else making it for me just seems to taste better. When they first opened up, I swear it was around $6 for some ice coffee. Then $7. Then $8. And then recently they told me the total was around $10. and it s not about being cheap, but it s the matter of the quality. When I go to Starbucks, or go get Bubble Tea, I m gonna be spending almost $10. But tell me why I received this, and it was mainly ice, and it wasn t even filled. You tell me, is this worth $10 to you? Their food is over priced and mediocre, you can get actual good Vietnamese food elsewhere, but how do you screw up iced coffee .. this just closed the book for me here.

Great view and food! We had a party of 5 including a toddler. Food came quick and really hit the spot. I noticed a couple beside us that had order the sangria that looked amazing. I would definitely go back just for sangria. Pho was perfect to my liking and I would love to also try their drinks next time!

The best thing about this place is the view. I recommend driving 15m to Pho Dui Bo on Queenstown in Stoney Creek for the best Vietnamese in the area. Food

Honestly, underwhelming. We ve heard rave reviews of this place (4.5 stars, lots of reviews) but I m not exactly sure what the hype is. First off, the service was mediocre. Now this may be partly due to a new employee, but we ordered drinks when we arrived and they came after the food. The bar is backed up . The bartender was outside for 20 minutes putting the furniture away. I guess that s a good reason. The starter came without cutlery, napkins, or plates. I had to go to the bar and ask for it myself after sitting there like a lump for 5 minutes. The food came out immediately after because we didn t get a chance to eat the starter. We got fresh rolls, pad Thai, the special, a beer, and a Caesar. 100 bucks. Most main apps are north of $20 bucks. The Caesar was $16 dollars (for the love of god, it s Clamato juice and alcohol. Even a cocktail at Barchef isn t this expensive and it s twice as good). My mind was blown. A good night out at a premier Hamilton restaurant on King William is cheaper. Needless to say, I m sure this restaurant is a hit with the locals, but we drove half an hour to try it out and we should have just ordered a pizza. Bon appetit!

Delicious pad Thai and fresh rolls! Beautiful right near the water.

If you ve actually had good Vietnamese food you should know that this place is not it. Trying to be different from traditional pho restaurants is fine, but the food is overpriced and the portion sizes and taste do not justify the price. The $25 dollar Com Tam was laughable and if you wanted to pay close to $20 for pho I d highly recommend you go to Pho Ngoc Yen or Pho Anh Vu because at least the portion size/taste justify the price. If you like eating with a nice view this place is fine, just severely overhyped.

A delicious Vietnamese restaurant. The beef noodle soup in tom yum soup I ordered has a unique flavor. Friends who like spicy food should not miss it. It is very tasty and refreshing! The restaurant is located right on the shore of Lake Ontario, with panoramic views of the lake. The location is very good. The service is friendly and the restrooms are clean. It feels like a new store that has just opened. And not far away is the outlet shopping mall.

We had dinner about a week ago. My wife had pho and found a piece of unknown food with fur on it. I was utterly grossed out and cannot get the vision out of me head. Needless to say, I m taking a break from eating here which is a shame as we often frequent this restaurant.

We order from here and dine-in frequently. It is a staple for us in Grimsby as the food is authentic and absolutely delicious. I would recommend it to anyone!

Loved the chicken vermicelli.

You don t want to drink water there. Water bottles are not clean. When asked staff to change bottle or give water bottle, she did not ever apologize. Also they do not have sealed water bottles to purchase as she brought other bottles like good and it had same thing on lead. Location is only good thing here but you doing it At many other places.

Food was tasty, great service food served fast. The table and condiment containers could be cleaned ...both were sticky Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options...beautiful view of Toronto.

First time dinning but have gotten takeout a few times in the past. The flavors and quality of food is 10/10! My husband and I both got pho as the main dishes, 1order of fried chicken wings and 1order of spring rolls. Everything was so flavorful and the portions were big. I ordered a small pho, and still had leftovers. The prices have gone up, but thats the cost of inflation I guess. The meal was a wonderful treat on a cold rainy evening, and well worth the price.

We went last weekend to try out the pho noodle there. The location is convenient with nice lake view. However, the ladies at the front seemed to care more about chatting with each other than serving. We waited a while to order our food, and it took a long time to get it. Unfortunately, the delayed food arrival left the noodles soggy. I would only give 1 star for the service.

If you want a white washed version of Vietnamese food go here, food was bland and overpriced.

Phenomenal little gem! The pho and Vietnamese coffee were both absolutely delicious, coupled with a stunning night view of the city skyline and lake. The servers were both very friendly and service was seamless. Ill surely be back!

Its a great place to stop by if you love Vietnamese food, its nestled at the base of condos along the water. I enjoyed Grilled beef PHO (P10) and my partner loved the Rare Beef PHO (P2). Enjoy!

Our first time and we had the fresh chicken mango spring rolls...the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai. Very fresh and very tasty!!!! So good we are already thinking about going back. Fabulous view too!

Great food. Pricey. Good for sharing. Staff is kind of young and a hit unenthusiastic and lacking customer service but aside from that it s a great place with a great view and great food.

My girlfriend ran panicking and I don t know what got into her she ran inside the restaurant requested the manager for help from staff. Lucky is we found Alex. Humanity is not dead. I m definitely booking a reservation and coming for dinner. Thank You :) so much for your exceptional service!

Best Pho and spring rolls I ever had! We loved how the spring rolls were packed with vegetables and a thin crispy outside. The Pad Thai seemed a bit oily but still great flavour. One time the tapioca pearls in our bubble tea were very tough compared to the first time we ordered it. The service is still fantastic and the atmosphere is wonderful, so we will keep coming back. We came twice in one month because we were already craving it and brought people along too! This will be our new favorite place and its right off the highway!

Really good, vegetarian/vegan-friendly food. We ate on the patio and the view on the lake was great. Nice decor, too.

Title of review: Great First Impression!!! First time visiting and I plan to return! Thank you for accommodating our group of 8 for lunch, and for placing us in a great spot, view of Lake Ontario is great!! We had our work team Christmas lunch there. Server was VERY helpful, made great recommendations, billed us the way we asked and was friendly and fast. Appetizers all came out quickly, they were beautiful and all were very tasty! Our mains were also quick and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Atmosphere was nice, nicely decorated for Christmas, some ambient music would have been nice, but not a big deal. Thank you for having us, we will be back!!!
