We har bad experience visiting the place on Sunday, 8th December. The food is delicious at the place it s not bad, the owner is kind person bud the customer service it s terrible. The bartender/waiter don t know his name, (bold guy) was extremely disrespectful and rude. He even didn t say hello and his English needs to be improved. Moreover he wore a really disgusting dirty T-shirt. In my opinion it s inadmissible for customer service.

I love helmands its really good and filling

As a Caucasian couple, we went in for our first tonight, as this was highly recommended. They took our order, seemed legit, meal was to be ready in 30 minutes. Showed up 30 minutes later, only to find they had forgotten our order, we were told it would be another 30 minutes.. After 60 minutes, order still not ready. Asked for a refund ..got the amount except taxes and tip. Owner didn t care!

The place is very cold during winter.

Wraps are always fresh and delicious. We usually get an extra naan or two, its so good youll want more. Recently ordered chicken wings and they were easily some of the best Ive had, especially impressive as this isnt the main specialty here. Highly recommend!

If you d asked me yesterday, I would ve ranked Helmand among the good restaurants in Guelph. Today though, I will say that the restaurant has recently hired some of the most unprofessional, rude, untrained, and incompetent servers that will make this place lose customers that have been loyal to it for the past decade. Today while placing an order via call, I had to deal with one of their pathetic workers unnecessary attitude: don t call again and again (South Asian lady, definitely sounded new, but was acting like she owned and ran the business) in response to my second call to add an item I forgot in my initial call. I m not one to ever be rude to customer service workers, and I apologised at the start of my call for forgetting my item and spoke pleasantly throughout, but having to hear this at the end? It ruined my entire eating experience. Anyone running a business knows that the quality of customer service can make or break a business. And this one interaction has ruined my image of this restaurant. I will definitely not be placing an order at this place ever again since they don t want me to call again and again - they clearly don t want my business anyway. I will also most DEFINITELY be telling all my family and friends who frequent this place about this rude experience. And, if anyone new to Guelph asks me about this restaurant, I will narrate this entire incident in full detail and tell them about how customers are treated at this place, and how they can find much better service somewhere else. 0/10 - absolutely do not recommend (until and unless they replace these unprofessional employees).

Terrible experience with this restaurant! They have the most unprofessional and rude staff that will literally shut the phone on your face if you ever call again to order an item that you forgot to add the first time. The woman on the phone today literally said don t call us again! and hung up Pathetic service, never coming back here!! Feel so sorry because they just lost loyal customers

We ordered takeout couple of weeks back. Food was tasty and portions were quite good. The lamb was a bit chewy but the flavours and beef was really good and made up for it. Overall would recommend for the price, taste and quality.

The food used to amazing but now it s not. I bought a sultani kebabe today they gave me almost raw meat I don t know what happened. I am very dissatisfied with the way they handled the situation when I went back looking for a solution.

The butter chicken on fridays is amazing. It s also a great price (15$) for a big take out container and includes rice and naan. The chicken is tender and full of flavour.

Amazing place with wonderful host and great ambience. We tried their Chicken Chapli Kebab and Mazari Kebab. The naan was soft and rice was tender.

I took my family to this restaurant at 9:15 PM, and despite their posted closing time of 10 PM, they refused to take our order except for a simple kabob, just so they could shut down early. This level of disrespect for customers is appalling. I ve been raised in Canada for 30 years, and I ve never seen a restaurant blatantly disregard their own closing time like this. Their attitude is disgraceful, and they clearly don t care about their customers. I ll never order from here again, whether in person or through Uber Eats. This place is a joke.

Amazing food! I usually replace the Naan for more rice at Kebab places, but this place has FLUFFY NAAN!!! The Chicken Tikka was cooked to perfection with juicy chicken + well seasoned. The Beef Shawarma was good too, lots of sauce and the rice... THE RICE!!! sooo delicious!!! i think this place is better than Khandahar Kebab and Bamiyan Kebab!!! 15/5.

Was looking for a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat and decided on stopping by here, and WOW! Such delicious food, everything was seasoned very well and cooked to perfect tenderness and crispness! I had the chicken Tikka that came with rice, salad and freshly baked bread. Everything complimented each other very nicely, and tasted amazing! I also ordered a Masada chair which was otherworldly. The service was also incredible, they were very kind and considerate, they also didnt beat around the bush. Just straight authenticity in the service and the food. Incredible

I was at the restaurant on July 29 for lunch, you are feelong like your home and the food is fresh and delicious. Staff are very nice. Manager Greets all clients and he knows most of his clients by name.

The best Afghan food around the Golden Horseshoe area. Some of the best things to try are chicken breast and thigh skewers, Wednesday Biryani, Chapli kabob and Naan. Owner Wali Noori strives to create excellent atmosphere. I order the food or dine in once or twice a week with my colleagues. Everyone absolutely love the taste, the quality and the quantity of the food. A must try.

Oh my god the FOOD. I tried their chicken shawarma over rice and wow. Now Ive been craving it again all week. It tastes so much better than the other places Ive tried so far. Definitely recommend!

A must-try for anyone craving authentic Afghan cuisine.

We had an early dinner here, my friend had the lamb chops meal (she enjoyed it except the chops were extremely thin), the chicken tikka meal was good, the beef kofta was excellent ( a bit overpriced at $19.99). Bread is excellent and salad was good (except for the hard pieces of lettuce which are not normally used). Normally a garlic mayo type of sauce is given with kebabs, none given here only a green chili and vinegar sauce given with each meal. Place seemed short staffed with no one to clean dining area, the staff at counter came and cleaned upon our request. Food took a while to prepare. Service is average, really self service ( go to the counter and pick up your food). Overall facility cleanliness could be better. Filtered water needs to be available for guests. Tea was excellent but half a cup Have been here before and had a much better experience.

Favourite Kabab place I have been too( there have been a lot). Had the Helmand Kabab and it was cooked perfectly and had a nice spice to it! The best garlic sauce I have tried on a Kabab, and the green sauce has great flavour and a nice spice to it! Will be back next time I m in town and wish I lived closer! Owner is a really great guy who truly cares about putting out a superior product, and that was evident in the food! Can t wait to come back!

I had the Helman special for the first time and found the tandoori chicken kabobs were very well seasoned and juicy, the lamb kabobs were delicious (a bit over cooked) but overall delicious. Best Afghan food in Guelph. Im a very particular eater when it comes to Afghan cuisine and Im very fond of Helmands food. Their Naan and rice is always excellent and their Kofta and Chicken Breast Tikkas are top tier. Service is always top tier too. Only downside is the Chicken Tikka Tandoori. Its a decent taste but not up to par with outlets such as Afghan Grill in Milton. Otherwise, great!

I had catering done for the local mosque for Iftar, and it was very professional. The chicken biryani was hot and ready on time, presentable, fresh and very tasty and large portions. The price was also very fair. I highly recommend for catering.

I recently dined at a restaurant that left much to be desired. The service was worst ever and the staff seemed indifferent. The food lacked flavor and freshness, giving an overall disappointing experience. The ambiance was dull, making the entire meal feel lackluster. I have been ordering at Helmand kebab for quite some time, it s my go to shawarma and kebab place for past 5 years. But I absolutely dislike the new employees! They don t smile or greet you. It feels like they are yelling at their customers. The old employees were best, made the best shawarma ever. Definitely recommend restaurant owner to give them some good training on customer service.
