The Boathouse Tea Room is a wonderful place to have High Tea. Located by the river, canoe rentals, park, and the ice cream shop, this historic building is always bustling specially in the warm months. The serving staff was very attentive. We enjoyed that the tables were not too close together. The trays were pretty and very tasty. The china dishes added to the entire charm. There were three of us having the Tea Service on this day. They gave us one tray with a good variety of sweets and sandwiches. The food was absolutely delicious, the quantity served for three people would not leave you feeling full but it was memorable. A bit pricy for what you get here, but we enjoyed the experience and atmosphere of the Tea room.
Charming atmosphere, overlooking the water. The biscuits were a bit dry but that was overshadowed by the generous portion size and tasty jam, good service and atmosphere. (Trails behind the dining area and a park across the street if you want to follow up with a bit of exercise). I would definitely return! Recommended!
Many yummy options for a sunny Fall day. This single Country Pumpkin was $5.75 and a generous sized cone. I grabbed an oversized rock and sat by the river. The cones were popular the day I went, as there was a short line which moved in adequate time.
For me it's the atmosphere. Cozy, right on the water, tea party, good company and good conversation type vibes. My grandparents and I have been coming here for many years just to enjoy. Grandparents had a sandwich and i had the soup. They enjoyed their sandwhich. My soup lacked depth and flavor but the food isn't what I come here for. Although I will say that's the freshest looking fruit I've seen in a restaurant in a long time. The diversity of the crowd is nice. I I like their desserts. Tea and desserts are the highlights for me. Try the carrot cake and peach cobbler!
My mom decided to treat me to afternoon tea here for my birthday since we'd been wanting to try it for a while. The tea selection was great (I had the peach sencha and it was divine), and the treats were great for the most part, though we couldn't really identify a flavor for the macarons - it was kinda odd but still nice. The only thing I will say is that service was incredibly slow, and it seemed like the staff didn't care to check up on us as much as they were everyone else around us which was again odd. I would still absolutely recommend this place and will be back for tea again sometime!
Had a great time paddling with my sister, such a good price for such long hours Would do it again in a heartbeat plus the person who was setting up and helping us were great! 10/10 experience well worth the money
We had higher expectations based on other reviews. Cute place. Went for afternoon tea. Food wasn’t made there and definitely purchased at like Costco or somewhere and thrown on plates. Scones came with canned whip cream in a dish - overall just a very disappointing experience. No AC or fans inside, was super hot. Staff were slow And not attentive to our needs, took forever to flag someone down for our bill. Mediocre experience. Would not recommend.
Took my mom here for afternoon tea last year and I am loving the vibe of this place. It's so cute! They had a festive high tea featured during that time. They have a good selection of teas.. their sandwiches and scones were great but I wish they had a better variety of desserts especially since you are paying more for festive tea. However, it was beautifully presented and as it was my mom's first time, she really enjoyed it. When it was time to get the bill, it was really hard to get their attention because it got super busy. We had to wait quite a bit and ended up going to the front to pay instead. Otherwise, it was a good experience and would probably do it again if I'm in the area.
We had the Christmas High Tea and it was REALLY good! The service was very pleasant and friendly and the food was amazing.
Quirky and enjoyable!
This was our first time there for lunch. Have had the ice cream from the Ice cream Shoppe. Excellent food and very friendly staff!!
Bit pricey. Awesome food!!!! The wifes tea was really nice ( im not a tea guy but had to try). I had an excellent cappuccino though. The atmosphere is great. The uniforms are odd and dont fit the atmosphere or price range. Still great. Make sure you make reservations Food
It s the cutest little tea place. It s like it s been taken out of a British village.
Ice cream is amazing. Best place to go in the summer!
Love the Boathouse every time of the year! My kids love their soups, the scone and ice cream! Good prices and great view outside. Breakfast wrap is my favourite of the menu, the matcha latte is great.
A great place to go in the summer to eat ice cream and walk around the speed river.
The best ice cream in town You get to enjoy a beautiful view while having this delicious ice cream Food
We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the river. Delicious salad with specialty in house balsamic dressing. Quiche of the day, squash & garlic was amazing. Our server was always there if we needed her. Well be back for sure.
Horrible experience. Manager extremely rude and did not care they practically ruined our mother in-laws 60th birthday lunch. We pre ordered food weeks ahead it was not ready upon pick up and had no knowledge of the order. On top of that the food quantity was absolutely appalling for the cost. We asked for all vegetarian options and they gave us chicken and fish. The list goes on how bad this experience was. They took no accountability.
Came across this lovely tea house while paddling on the Elora River. I love that you can just moor your watercraft at their dock and go in for tea. Everything was delightfully delicious. Definitely returning. Happily returned in August and enjoyed this place once more.
Vegetarian options: There are Dietary restrictions: Lactose free options Kid-friendliness: Its an ice cream shop... Wheelchair accessibility: It is
Loved the vibe !!! The food was amazing-we tried Tuna melt and Turkey sandwich. However, the show was taken by Butternut Squash soup- it was delicious.
Good
Lovely little spot to sit by the water and a coffee and sweet treat with friends from Scotland
Cutest little place and OMG the lemon tart is insane.
Sweet restaurant- we all enjoyed our soup and sandwiches! Thank you!
We absolutely love the boathouse
Nice place. Good coffee. Odd vibe from some of the staff, like youre upsetting them if you ask questions. Overall, we would return.
Hard to explain how this is high tea, I took my aunts for high tea last weekend. In all there was four of us. Upon us sitting down I could see this was something of a resting place for boats, converted into a restaurant. That is ok, however the food came, and stayed on our table for well over 40mins. One quick check in 40 mins ago by a server. We waited and waited, and waited to be asked if there was anything further. As my aunts did want something more. The high tea only had a meager three sandwiches, which the out part of the part was very crusty. It was not fresh... no one came. We wanted desert and a top up on the water for our tea, still no one came. I cashed out at the front as we were tired to wait. The food is not the greatest, very little tiny piece of a carrot cake as part of the sweets. I later found out that they cater the food in so you dont even get it made that day! Never will we be back, for the most lacklustre service and food. What a disgrace this is not a tea house! Save your money!
Ordered the cream tea with darjeeling. The tea and scone were mediocre and the service was even worse. Upon entry, I was handed a menu and told to sit wherever. A waitress came with water and asked if I needed a minute. No greeting, just right to the point. I ordered, and was swiftly presented with a small scone. The only napkin was under the scone, and there was a strange absence of them elsewhere, so I assume they want guests to wipe the corners of their mouths with crumb-laden napkins. They then brought out the teapot with nowhere to put the dripping bag, so again I assumed - they must want guests drinking bitter tea. The darjeeling itself was stale and bland - no flavour was there whatsoever (likely a result from being stored incorrectly and for too long). I went up to pay, and was simply told my amount owed - so in addition to not being greeted, this establishment also doesnt even ask how the meal went. The atmosphere was pleasant otherwise, but there is an extreme lack of hospitality here - even fast food drive throughs are more hospitable than this.
I have been here in the past and have always enjoyed the experience. Today a friend and I went for high tea. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table and when the server did come over she told us that we may have to move to a different table and promptly walked away. We had a reservation and that s the table we had been directed to. We ordered our tea and waited for the sandwiches. My friend pored the milk in to her tea and it was bad. She sat and waited for our server to return, she did not. My friend walked her cup and teapot to the counter and asked politely for a new cup, tea and milk. After sitting for another 10 -15 minutes our sandwiches arrived. She asked the server to check on the replacement tea. Eventually she turned up and gave my friend a pot of tea. My friend again asked for fresh milk she waited. When the server came back with the milk my friend again had to point out she did not have a cup. The server did not seem to care about the lack of service we had received so far. I am usually very forgiving when service isn t up to par, this was however ridiculous. The server never returned and any further needs had to be addressed by asking someone else s server to help. The tea itself was not great. Sandwiches were dry and tasteless. It is sad that such a lovely tea shop has gone so far downhill. I understand having young staff but some mature supervision might be required. Sadly I will not be returning anytime soon. I hope this review is taken in to consideration by the owners. On a final not all the meals around us that were off the menu looked delicious..
It was such a lovely experience at the tea room, 30$ each for just a 3 tier plate is just a little too expensive. The room and food was great. However it took 3 days to book reservations which is so annoying as I know so many who have had this experience as well. Please get an online booking system as calling for reservations is horrible!!
1st time ! I have lived in Guelph o ver 15 years and thought they only sell ice cream. Not the case they have a beautiful little resturant with a patio overlooking the river. Food and Service was great. We then rented a canoe for a lazy float down the river. The whole experience felt like we were on vacation in another town or country. A must do day in Guelph!!!
Great ice cream, large serving sizes and beautiful scenery to enjoy!
I had the ice cream, black cherry and raspberry flavor. Cherry wasnt bad where taste is concern, as for the raspberry horrible its like the ice cream pored a whole bag of sugar. No flavor just sugar youre tasting. Had to throw it out, what a waste of money. Other than that the place was just OK..
The high tea is absolutely lovely!!! An amazing selection of teas along with delicious finger sandwiches, scones, and assorted pastries, with some fruit. Its more than enough for one person (Im always stuffed!), and the gluten-free option is crazy tasty! Fabulous service as well. I highly recommend it for an enjoyable afternoon.
The Boat House Tea Room not only has great food but lower than expected prices, too. Our server was quite amazing and very pleasant. Since we got there at 11 am before the lunch rush, we didnt need to wait for very long to receive our food orders. Although, it did fill up quickly and started to get super busy near noon. We felt that the Tea Room had a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Its set along the riverside with several kilometers of footpaths right there to help walk off some of the extra calories we consumed from their ice cream shop thats right next door. It was our first time going there to check out this historical site in Guelph, Ontario. We were pleased to discover that its a very clean and cozy place in a well-kept building. Based on our experience, the Boat House is a place worth visiting, and we look forward to going there again soon. Thanks to all management and staff for an experience & service thats above and beyond !!!
Very affordable, vegan options are always delicious. Weekends are busy so we visit on weekdays and go for a walk in the park Vegetarian options: The vegan options are delicious.
The high tea was great! The server honestly seemed a little miserable and didn t come back to check on us, but the scenery was beautiful and the meal very enjoyable otherwise.
Amazing ice cream flavour assortment! So delicious!
A perfect experience - perfect blend of ambience, service and cuisine. The tea room patio overlooks the river and has a very serene vibe. Inside the tea room, it is a peak into the past wherein a calm vibe fills the place. The menu is simple - scones, words, high tea, sandwiches, range of teas and drinks but in simplicity lies the greatness of fresh food. The scones are served hot with jam and cream and they literally melt in the mouth. The soup (vegetarian) is a hearty blend of lentils and veggies and is one of the best vegetarian soup we ever had. The strawberry shortcake sandwich (dessert) was fresh and delicious. Service was good, albeit a little slow but is understandable considering that it is a busy place and there is no compromise on the quality. The cutlery is vintage and gives that old English vibe. Definitely a must try place if you are in the area and it was worth the long drive for us.
Such an amazing place, best views with equally incredible food! Cant wait to visit again!
It was busy so more staff would have been helpful! A hot day! Place was all CLOSED UP. Air conditioning was not working properly. Not good! Food
Their annually, Night market That took place on June 27th , 2024 , It was a good turnout, but unfortunately, this was NOT Wheelchair assessable they had all the Vendors on the mulch, which made it impossible for me to use my wheelchair once you re inside the restaurant there was NO room to move around, Very disappointed !!
All we did was get ice cream, but I imagine well be back.
Parking: It gets crowded on weekends and holidays. Wheelchair accessibility: Has accessibility
Tasty ice cream selection in a nice area with river view and lots of goose...
They have vegan ice cream options as well which always taste great!
I think the High Tea requires a re-think. Tuna Sandwiches ?? Really? Nice enough but not $30 worth. Great location-could be spectacular with a few tweaks.
delicious, tasteful, and original tea with a beautiful, scenic view of the speed river!! i absolutely LOVED the boathouse private blend tea and i ended up buying some before i left! i also recommend any of the paninis and the quiches, they complemented the tea! its also best to call to make a reservation, especially on weekends :) i cant wait to come back to this lovely establishment <3
Great ice cream at a reasonable price
I have only tried the ice cream, and its pretty good. It gets busy!!
My family and I had the most lovely time we were wonderfully looked after by our server and manager Evelyn! Thank you :)
I always love stopping by here for iced cream! I hope that they bring back the watermelon sherbet, its my favourite
Literal best ice cream in town - SOOOO good!!
Excellent venue on the river. Good food.
Happy to find gluten free options, I had the GF Turkey BLT sandwich and it was so delicious, will be getting it again. Tasty GF scone also pictured. Plus they have select desserts that are gluten/dairy/nut free! Hard to find the trifecta! (GF Ah Caramel & non-GF Carrot Cake pictured). Quinn was wonderful, such a considerate server. Cute, quaint little place, beautiful with the sun shining on the river. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp!
The icecream is so good but is very expensive. I would come back again. The place could use a fresh code of paint though. Everything looks rusted. Kid-friendliness: Staff is very nice to children
Was lovely atmosphere BUT was unimpressed with the high tea especially for the price. Had to cut the tarts and cookies in half. Not near enough for 2 people at $60!
Came here for some tea with my mom. I got the turmeric milk latte, and my mom got a pot of jasmine tea..it was really nice. Service is a bit slow and outdoor area can be improved. The inside sitting area is much nicer. They have high tea here so I will come back for that.
I go here for icecream all the time, you get a lot of icecream for a good price. This is also a very nice spot to just hangout by the water.
Great cafe & ice cream shop along the Speed River. Quaint tea shop with scones, sandwiches & desserts. Food is really good & thry do their best to accommodate restrictions.
I had an excellent ice cream with my mom and decided to fly my new drone!
We got ice cream here disgusting first and last.
Cute restaurant surrounded by nature. High Tea was underwhelming. Food was just okay, but the tea was good.
I love the Boathouse! This was the first time wed done Afternoon Tea and my only complaints were that they sat 3 of us at a 2 person table and it was really squishy for tea, and for an upcharge for real clotted cream I expected more than a tablespoon - it wasnt even enough for half of the scone. The tea selection was wonderful, yummy and of excellent quality. Great variety of both savory and sweet options, the egg salad was a favourite. The gluten free options were excellent! A great casual tea experience.
Nice spot to chill and hang by the water.
They have super amazing tea, so many to choose from. And also their ice cream is absolutely wonderful. I tried their banana cream pie flavor, its so good
Best place to have your sweet treat
Wonderful place to have quality ice cream, the staff is always amicable and swift in service. Don t give up because of long lines, enjoy the wait and have the delicious ice cream. Note: The ice cream store is open till 9 PM, even though the tea room closes at 4 PM
ice cream
Something for everyone here; theres always specials for quiche, soup of the day, sandwiches etc. Great assortment of tea! Beautiful location. Vegetarian options: Nice selection of salads, wraps and sandwiches witg vegan/vegetarian options
Icecream is on point
Beautiful place to walk n have ice cream. The ice cream here is very creamy n tasty. Sitting near the water n watching geese n having ice cream in the warm sun with friends, the best way to spend a couple hours here. Food : 5/5
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free scones!!!! Food
A new favourite place. I absolutely love the location. Its a beautiful spot to take a stroll around the water. And you can end it by having an ice cream I would love to come back here with my mum and daughter for tea
Had a really nice experience this Fall. Staff were lovely and gave my doggy an ice cream cone! There are picnic tables and chairs to sit to enjoy your snack in the nice weather!
Cute place to get high tea in Guelph. It s by a nice river and bridge where you can walk nearby. I found it the food to be good for the money. The dessert tasted store bought but the crumpets were good.
Amazing place to visit with ur friends or even alone, the food and atmosphere is perfect, I wish only it was bigger space
A summer staple! There s nothing better than walking over to the boathouse on a hot, summer day to get a cone of ice cream. You ll never find that line empty. You ve got your pick of flavours to choose from, including vegan options. Not to mention the tea room on the inside of the building. Yummy sandwiches and adorable mis-matching plates and cups.
This is the place to be when sun is out. Water sports, great view, ice creams & a sip of tea
Excellent quality of interesting food at fair prices. Nice ambience
After 5 years living in Guelph I finally got around to going to the tea room for lunch. This is an experience everyone should have ! The atmosphere was great. The service fast and friendly and the menu and food outstanding.
Closed for the season. Opens back in April
Delicious ice cream, great for those days of enjoying a nice walk allong the water, amongst the birds and the trees, even inspiring to want to buy a pretty girl an ice cream cone
My friend and I went for high tea. Honestly, the tea and biscuits were alright. I wouldnt pay for the full high tea next time. We sat outside and it was beautiful to be by the river.
This place is beautiful and great for building family bonds and memories with ice-cream and sorbets (non vegan amd vegan options available in a large selection), canoes and kayaks with even tiny lifejackets available, and trails and playgrounds beside.
Stumbled on this place. Great view. Had coffee with cream scones. Service was pleasant and efficient. Decor was outdated, but the service, food and location makes you forget about it. I recommend a nice walk in this area and end up here.
What else can I say but they have amazing ice cream? :) Dietary restrictions: Amazing vegan options for my friend Recommended dishes Iced Coffee and Scones
I enjoyed the meal & surroundings.
Absolutely worth it. Their ice cream is so rich and creamy, and it s worth the wait. We got the banana pie, and it was so good! The only drawback is the wait time. Food
My grandsons favorite ice cream place in Guelph. Kid-friendliness: Lots of Canada geese for my grandson to chase. Food : 5/5 |
The atmosphere is amazing. Lots of flavours and the ice creams are the best.. cute evening spot to go on dates, outing with friends and family..
Great local joint to get ice cream as a treat and enjoy the outdoors (can rent kayaks and access other river activities on certain days or stroll around). A lot of interesting flavours for everyone and insanely generous scoops to bite into. Would love to revisit to try the Tea Room!
My son, who lives in Cambridge, was raving about how good the ice cream was at this place and coming from Vancouver, we know good ice cream, and we have so many good places. So we went and really blew me away. The scoops ate very generous, the price was very decent, and when we saw the large lineup, I knew it had to be good. Didnt disappoint.
Fabulous location. Visited twice with my sister who lives locally.
While the scenery was lovely it feels although the quality of food has decreased over time. Wheelchair accessibility: Nice ramp, well maintained
Amazing food and ice-cream!
We finally made it to this place after years of driving by, food is excellent, reasonably priced, great atmosphere, excellent service from the young man serving our table, we keep getting him and wanted him to know he is doing an excellent job.
Very nice location and patio. The food is really good and reasonably priced
Very beautiful place, had a feeling of Europe!
Great spot. My first time here but it wont be my last. Service was excellent. Unfortunately no seats left outside. Food was delish (turkey, cranberry panini and beef vegetable soup). Server was friendly and efficient. Restaurant was clean and charming. Has retained a lot of original features. Recommend reservations be made.
The ice cream is fantastic. I also enjoy sitting in their outdoor area and enjoying the view of the river and passing ducks.
delicious ice cream and always a variety! very expensive for a student tho...
Getting an answer on the phone to reserve a spot was challenging but they got my group (of 5) in with pretty short notice. The boathouse blend tea was simply amazing - best tea for me ever. The high tea dishes were great - we loved it all. My 20 something kids both had the club with fruit - and waisted nothing. The place was busy - so the service was slower - but they were very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere of the place was nice - watching the crowds outside waiting for their ice creams boat rentals were ongoing the whole time. I will return it really was a good time. Vegetarian options: They did provide many options Kid-friendliness: They had plenty of kid options Wheelchair accessibility: The ground outside is rough but the place is fully accessible.
Waitress was absolutely horrible and rude.
Great egg salad sandwich & garden salad. Always better to make a reservation as this is a very busy place.
ordered the vegan chocolate cone. ended up with something that initially seemed like chocolate, but deeper into the scoop had swirls of white, peanut butter chunks and even a chocolate chip or two. Being vegan and also allergic to peanuts (thankfully not-anaphylactic), I returned to find out just what I had been given. Was told that some of the vegan peanut butter ice cream may have gotten mixed in with the chocolate. However, the non-vegan chocolate peanut butter option looked more like what I had been served. In any case, cross-contamination is really not safe on many levels. They gave me a new one, but Im not happy about the situation.
My mother and I go here every summer. The last few years have been disappointing. The interior was dusty and looked shabby. The service was always poor. The food has always been good however. This year we went back and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had refurbished it, painted and it definitely looked much nicer. They switched their dessert supplier. The scones were outstanding! Probably the best weve ever had. The service was better this year as well. We have never ordered the afternoon tea because the portion looks very small for the price. They put so many flowers on the tray which looks nice but Id rather have more food. Parking: There are only a couple of handicap spots which seem to always be full. There are a few regular spots and if they are full you have to walk a long way from the other parking lot. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp but when you get to the door it says please use the side door which is not wheelchair accessible. There are only a couple of disabled parking spots which seemed to always be full and if the regular spots are full you have a long walk from the other parking lot.
One of the better spots in Guelph to enjoy ice cream with family and friends with a view on speed river or in the park across the street. Decent selection of gelato (not much sorbet though). Prices are reasonable
A very nice tea house by the river in the center of Guelph with indoor and outdoor seating area.
Good place by the river for tea and icecreams. Would definitely recommend having a quick bite Food : 4/5
Service is horrible, the location is good, food Not good, waitress not friendly Food
We had to wait a long time to be seated. Not a big deal. Patio is near kayaking business and so noisy. It is entertaining though. Smokers on the public path are a direct problem. The tea and scones (too sweet) and soup was all good. The prices are amazing. Manage expectations and enjoy yourself. We did.
Locals are lucky to have this beautiful spot. Food was great and friendly service. Will return.
It was awesome!
Good place by the river. I love lemon ice cream, will try lime next time.
My daughter only likes vanilla ice cream and I were there @ 430pm Saturday a hot day also, and they were out of vanilla ice cream!!! Already? On a hot day after waiting thank the Lord it was only 25 min So thats a big fail in my opinion they still had hours left in the day and I know there were plenty of other kids disappointed about that...
Favourite ice cream!
Too many yuppies
Will come back soon! Loved how friendly staff is. Kudos!
Quite busy for a Monday. High Tea for everyone and/or ice cream and a walk along the river or a paddle. Its a great way to spend the day.
Food was good. Service was good. Extremely busy when we were there on Sunday at 2pm. Would recommend reserving a table in advance. We ended up waiting for about 20 minutes then got a table. Restaurant is right beside the river. Nice location. Has a patio area beside the river. We got milkshakes with our meal. They were a nice treat.
This place is great! You can get a proper British Tea, or ice creams for the family. The single scoop is so generous, I dont know how youd balance more ice cream on one cone. Maybe one day Ill be man enough to try. The location has lots of parking, and lovely views by the river with walking trails heading up and down river. Edit - we were by this summer and the cones continue to be delicious and massive
My friend and i went for afternoon tea. It wasn t very good. The scones were over done and it was served with whipped cream. Afternoon tea is supposed to be with clotted cream. I would not go again and I m sorry i went there.
The Boathouse Tea Room is a canvas of sunlit memories from summers past. Nestled by the waters edge, it was our summer haven. The simple joy of savoring a cold ice cream, with flavors melting and mingling on the tongue, was a ritual we looked forward to. But it wasnt just about the ice cream; it was the anticipation of what came next. Renting a kayak and gently paddling through the serene waters, feeling the suns warmth and the gentle splash of water, was an experience that defined our summers. The Boathouse wasnt just a place; it was an emotion, a symbol of freedom, adventure, and the sweet taste of summer. Even now, the mere thought of it brings a rush of nostalgia, a longing for those carefree days by the water.
Nice place with vey nice vew
Always good to get an ice cream on a hot day!
Its a Guelph classic! Anybody visiting Guelph in the summer have to go Boathouse for ice cream at least once. There are plenty of sitting areas and its right across from Royal City Park (which has a playground). Moreover, theres often a canoe and kayak rental just outside boathouse for anyone interested in puttering around on the Speed or Eramosa Rivers. Vegetarian options: There are dairy free and vegan ice cream options Dietary restrictions: There are vegan ice cream options in the summer! Parking: There is parking outside the boathouse and along the road within Royal City Park which is directly adjacent to the Boathouse Kid-friendliness: Its got Ice Cream!! Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp into the building
The first time being here, came in for the beginning of a date, we grabbed some ice cream and sat by the water. I had lemon pie, so good. I was tired between that and the cinnabon ice cream. The servers were nice and friendly. My date got her Ice cream, and I was looking around for mine after I Paid and there is a little stand that I completely missed and realized thats mine . We all had a good laugh at my expense :) I would recommend people to come here. I really want to try some other flavours next time. Thank you for the tasty ice cream!
high tea set here was pretty disappointing. I think I would come back and maybe order things individually, only their cucumber sandwich was notably good. Scones were sconing, the desserts are insanely sweet/heavy of which I didn t try all because I felt a bit sick. Wish they gave some sort of cream for the teas.
Made a reservation over the phone for my mom s birthday. It was very busy when we arrived so we waited a few minutes to be seated. It was quite noisy inside the restaurant between the kitchen/preparation area and a large party that were seated in the middle of the room. It was also ridiculously cold inside the restaurant with the air conditioning units set at 62F. Aside from this, the service was good. Friendly waitress and the food and tea came quickly. The tea was quite good as were the scones. I appreciate the generous portion of jam and cream but wasn t impressed that English cream is an extra charge. I ve never encountered this at a tea room before. My mom had the high tea and enjoyed everything but found some of the fruit to be inedible. I had the cream tea and a breakfast wrap. The spinach in the wrap was horribly bitter and I removed all of it. I definitely would not order that again! If I ever went back, I d also choose to sit outside. After eating, we tried an ice cream sandwich and it was to die for!!
Thought wed take my mother for a surprise high tea even though this place doesnt serve an authentic or accurate version of British high tea. This is AFTERNOON TEA with an underwhelming amount of sandwiches, scones, sweets that is TOTALLY OVERPRICED at $95 for ONE SERVING STAND including a ten dollar tip for lackluster service. Skimpy quarters of sandwiches, dry scones, not enough desserts per person and we couldnt even cut the tiny desserts to share among the three of us. I actually thought my mum would have been there before because shes got a lot of British friends in the KW area, but nope, shed never been there and her friends hadnt either... so thats all the proof I needed that the boathouse tea room is a bust. What you do get PLENTY OF is garden flies and fruit flies INSIDE the restaurant that you have to constantly shoo away from your food. Just. Plain. Gross.
Excellent food excellent service all around wonderful experience everyone should experience this little tea house.Totally amazing.
Lunch with some gal pals Id not seen in a fews years. The boathouse never disappoints. Its a happy place with a great vibe
Everything always excellent
A very cute place with delicious food and really nice waitresses. The soup and carrot cake were absolutely delicious. Will definitely come back Food : 5/5
Sometimes I find tiered tea plates hard to finish. This was the perfect size to enjoy my sandwiches, scone and treats!
Lovely tea! Beautifully prepared and handmade. Our group really enjoyed our time at The Boathouse!
Review changes from a 5 because I got piss poor customer service today. Yesterday was great, but today was horrible! unattentive !
Fantastic fresh Homemade food! Great service! Nice views!
I was looking forward to this festive high tea experience since the moment it was booked...weeks ago. Unfortunately the service was so...Im not even sure how to describe it. Awful?! They checked other tables several times, refilling other teapots with hot water, but not ours, walked past checking in on the meals around us... they just walked on by without eye contact for us. At first it was comical but after wanting a water for 30 minutes I went up to the counter to retrieve one from the staff. There wasnt an acknowledgment of me serving myself at a sit down high tea. It was super awkward . Im not sure why this happend. Maybe I am too blonde?! (Legally blonde reference for fun) I hope everyone else has a good experience. Unfortunately I just can not recommend this place...we left very disappointed. It was pretty expensive to grab your own water and not be able to ask the server about the dessert I was curious about and receive common courtesy. Oh well.
We had the afternoon tea and it was perfect. Sitting by the water, taking more time, perfect afternoon with perfect food
Went on a date and we enjoyed it. We had the afternoon tea service x2, the yes was amazing and the food very good. The building is clean, open and well lit. Bathrooms are large and clean. Our server was outstanding. Well return. Parking: There is very little parking at the building, but LOTS of parking 200m away in a connected lot.
