Town & Country Restaurant in Guelph

We had waited for the reopen of T&C and looked forward to our first Saturday breakfast there in some time due to fire. I truly wish i could report it was worth the wait but unfortunatly it was not. I wish i could attribute the horrible experience to how busy they were but they had probably 3 or 4 times as many staff as they used too (i counted as many as 12 ) and as any frequent customer will recall, they were always very busy on Sat & Sun and only had 3 or 4 servers and the old fellow and maybe a helper at the grill. Unfortunatly they failed horribly on the quality of service and food. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time but things went down hill from there. The waitress in our area attended to 3 tables that were seated well after we were and all had their orders taken and delivered long before us. I could understand if it was a different server, but she was the same person who brought our coffee and menus as well as the other tables within our area.There was another couple who were seated before us and unfortunatly didnt get their order taken until after us. There are times when the reward is worth the wait but It took 47 minutes to get our order and when it arrived although warm the food was very hard and dry like it had been sitting for an extended period of time. Certainly not at all what one would expect of food just off the grill. The thing that made the T&C so popular was how quick the service was and how very good it was. Very very disappointed and although i wish them the best we will not return. Parking: Lots of free parking

Sure didnt improve other than a coat of paint. Sure its busy right now. Thats no reason to get a half looking eaten sausage. Poor service and food that isnt quick any more. Weve been loyal for many many years and were very excited to hear it opened again. But with no refresh on coffee and the home fries were pathetic, not good. Well go back to other places weve been frequenting. So disappointed.

Not feeling completely well just yet from my surgery, so I cant in all fairness enjoy my favourite choices. However by they way my husband devoured his plate, then took on mine, Im pretty sure the new owners and management have all matters well under their control. The dining room is festively decorated with colourful Valentines banners and hearts in a fashion that would lead you to believe that they support this day of love and all around affection. I think we will be returning if my stomach is behaving. Our waitress is a really congenial, bubbly young university student, hoping to get into the OVC. She is studying very hard and her work ethics are superb. If youre going there and get her, tip her well, she is fast, sweet, happy, helpful and genuine. How often can we say this about anyone. This place was a regular weekend spot for our family. We ve even had Mother s Day breakfast here. They weren t too kind about maskless visitors (even if you had a medical exemption) from 2020-2021 but seem to have relaxed a bit since masks have been made optional and not mandatory . Coffee is good, breakfast options are acceptable quality and it s fairly close to those living in the East end of town. Best service is early in the morning when it s not terribly busy and visitors are stopping by to eat before work.

Only complaint I have about this place is the coffee was a little weak. Other then that, food was good and service was great

We were the only table yet my order was totally screwed up. No one came to check on us for more coffee or to check our food. Staff were huddled in a corner with their cell phones. I refused to pay for my meal and they were indifferent. Seems to have gone downhill maybe since changing ownership?? Was disappointed in general

Prices were reasonable but the cheese used was craft singles and the home fries were not good. Service was very nice and attentive

The food is really good. HOWEVER I found white hair in my sandwich. I have red hair so definitely not mine. I have been to the restaurant a bunch of times and they do not wear hairnets. A cook with long white hair never wears on either. And they barley wear masks. As someone who has worked in the culinary buisness, that is very unsanitary. I am very disappointed and disgusted.

Food is okay. Tables werent clean. There were spills on the floor under our table. Glasses were dirty on the table. Asked about the dirty table and they grabbed a cloth from a dirty bucket to wipe our table. Eww.

Great selection, service and food

The servers are wonderful and extremely courteous 5 stars for them. Overall I say three because after ordering something off of the specials board that was 14$ The waitress was informed by another staff there that No that is 18$ they aren t sitting in the room with the board the waitress (through no fault of her own) said we d have to be charged the 18$ instead of the posted 14$

Food at t&c is always a great experience. It s quick to the table and the staff are always nice and helpful. The menu as a variety of tastes.

A great restaurant with truly home style food. Breakfast is great. We go every week and make sure we have our favourite server Pam!

My experience in this restaurant was definitely not pleasant nor the food was good. I came with my wife, mother, mother in law and my baby son. We chose a table for four and I put my son, who was in a car seat, on the ground. A lady came and told us in a very unpleasant way, and without saying good morning or excuse me, that you cant put this, referring to my son, on the ground; you can move to another table. I was satrtled at first of what to do because I was not offered a solution, so I ended up moving to another table and putting the baby car seat on a chair. I work in health and safety and and I totally understand the tripping hazard she was referring to, but the way I was told is definitely not good. Now the food is where things get terrible. Due to food alergies, I asked the server to replace bacon with turkey slices, which they have on the menu, however they refused to do so eventhough I was willing to pay the differnece. The greek omelette was burned. The florentine eggs benedict had egg shell pieces. The pancakes are under cooked. The fruites were old and pale. Lastly, the coffee is really not hot enough. I chose this place according to the reviews, however, I should have gone to the restaurant I usually go to.

Cold grave salad at the same time as the meal so you try to eat the salad as food gets even more cold new people in there that do not care I have bin back since but new waters dumb as a bag of hammers

I have been going to Town & Country for breakfast since I was a kid. Not much has changed, its affordable and delicious. I love their medallion potatoes and I can never get enough of their delicious coffee! The service is hit or miss, but you seat yourself so you can pick a good one!

Terrible service and mediocre food. 3 out of 4 orders were incorrect. Refills on pops were never offered. No quality checks on food and I had to track down the 1 server on a Friday night to explain the error. Some patrons started serving themselves coffee due to inattentive service. Another table actually asked the patron for water which she obliged, it was the only drink they received. The understaffing combined with a language barrier with the server has made us reconsider ever coming back. Which is sad seeing as my Grandfather used to take my Dad here and I have taken my sons here. I hope this was a one time staff shortage and not the end of the Town and Country.

Amazing little restaurant that is off the beaten path. Great food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Would definitely eat here again and recommend it for an all day breakfast joint.

Portions were very generous. My husband got the hot roast beef which was very salty. I had the burger which was amazing and very filling. Our order was ready when we were told it would be and everything was great.

We were in the area with a friend and decided to grab a bite. And it was such a cute little mom and pop restaurant. The staff was so friendly and the food was hot and fresh and they loaded your plate! If Im in the area again Ill definitely go back again. Parking: Soon much parking spaces it was great! Kid-friendliness: They had a child and senior menu.

Very very excellent location to dine with your family for breakfast. The staff are quite lovely, polite and friendly. They are observant and on point with their service. They as if you need top ups on your hot beverage, and their portions are enormous and well prepared. My partner and I came here for the first time after hiking at the nearby Rockwood Conservation area, and this was a great after-hike experience. Keep up the good work and professionality; it is recognized, and it is appreciated. Youre bringing a lot of value to peoples experience. Cheers.

Fair prices and good food! Come here whenever I am visiting Guelph. No trip is complete without the home fries from town and country. Sometimes service is slow but I don t mind! It s a relaxing and homey experience.

Was always our go to, but recently theyre all day breakfast is off the menu, and when asked for breakfast we were charged an extra 3 dollars per person! Also there is one waitress that has a major attitude, so thats why we do take out but 30 bucks for eggs and bacon is ridiculous , so moving on

Went here multiple times & the experience was flawless. I tried the double cheese burger & strip loin steak. The food was incredible and customer service was immaculate. Would recommend for sure to anybody looking for a good bite!

We just found this restaurant on DoorDash and were blown away by the size and selection of the menu. Food was absolutely delicious, portions super generous, and the price just cant be beat. One of the best choices on DoorDash in my opinion. This restaurant is our new go-to!

Ordered breakfast. Food was ready on time, and hot, with large portions , plenty of ketchup, salt pepper, napkins etc.... great breakfast.

Food isnt that great. Only 1 waitress. Very slow. Owner was a total jerk. Wanted me to wear a mask so I could walk 12 feet and take it off. I showed him my mask exception card but he still wanted me to wear a mask. We argued and I just went and sat down. Idiot.

Our order was ready 20 minutes after we place it, ordering directly online through their website was easy and convenient. The food was hot and delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals. We had the fish & chips, souvlaki, wings, Greek salad and cheeseburger, everything was great! Highly recommend!

early in the first covid shutdown we purchased take out from a major chain and were disappointed. it was both cold and dried out.. For our anniversary we ordered a couple of our t&c favorites. The salads were crisp, the servings were hot and just like we remembered them. Great job!!

We have been going to Town & Country for breakfast for many years now, and the food and service are always excellent. We actually miss going to the restaurant and chat with the friendly staff. Another incredible meal. This time fish and chips. They make the best ones.

I have been a patron of Town & Country for 40 years. I have ordered take-out, in the last 3 months, 5 times. Today I call to see if they can substitute home fries/toast with fruit. I was told no - they come automatically with breakfast and will not do it. The gentleman did not offer any alternatives so I stated my disappointment and ordered breakfast from the Uptown Grill - very accommodating to health issue request to remove carbs and add veggies/fruits. The food was extremely comparable to, and did not miss eating, the breakfast from Town & Country!

I just hosted a dinner for 17 in memory of my Dad, Dino at Town and Country. This was the last place where he ate out and laughed with his family before he passed away- it certainly holds good memories for us. I did a pared down menu to our group and I provided menu choices in advance. The event was a huge success. Lots of laughs and memories. Food came out at the time requested, was cooked perfectly and all was hot. A special thanks to Pam who worked with me prior to the day and to Autumn who was our server for the event. And a thank you to the patrons who were at the restaurant who not only accommodated this Italians family noise but offered that it was nice to see and wished us well. A memory to treasure THANKS TO ALL!!

I ordered the florentine and cheese eggs benedict. It was a delicious treat! They chef was generous with the spinach. The coffee was fresh, flavourful and our server came around to refill frequently. The crispy puffy potatoes were great too, but I couldnt eat them all. And there was a fruit bowl. We will return.

Food is delicious, presentation is good, service is great!!! Setting and decor is extremely dated but everyone is aware of that and goes there for the food, service and speed!!!!! The decor and parking lot pot holes are the only reason this place doesn t get a 5!!! Pricing is also great! Love my steak and Caesar salad with added mushrooms! My fave! Not to mention my fave breakfast place. Others love the chicken souvlaki! And for that special older person....liver and onions is the best! Don t let the decor fool you for a good meal!

Convenient. No lineups (get there early on a Sunday or you will wait for the church crowd to finish). Great price. Great food. Lots of breakfast choices from basic two eggs & bacon to Lumberjack special (meat meat and more meat). Staff are wonderful, so friendly and ready with coffee. Been going here for 10+ years!

My Wife and I have been going for dinner here for years. Always enjoy the food and the staff. Our last time was Aug 9 2020. After lunch. We sat near the kichen and could hear one of the cooks complaining about his hrs to the point we were concerned about how our meals would show up. The waitress was egging him on whenever she would go to the counter. It made us feel very uncomfortable sitting and listening to this. I write this now because my wife just said do we go there for dinner tonite. I said no because of the last time we were there. Even though we like the place i am in no hurry to go back. For a very long time.

They were trying to keep track of customers coming in and having people write down names and phone numbers for contact tracing. But there were times no one was at the door so people just walked right in and sat themselves. Food was good....loved the poofy home fries.
