Got a double burger combo with a poutine. To start off, this burger joint had great potential. Unfortunately, potential is all it had. Got my poutine, and the fries were significantly under cooked. It was more like a poutine soup with how the fries fell apart in the bath of gravy that was served on top. The burger was, unfortunately, very dry. All in all, the flavor was there, in the gravy and burger patties themselves. They just werent able to bring it all together.

this is the first time Ive gone to Sams subs and the food was horrible. the corned beef was so full of fat and so so spongy I couldnt even chew it. it was disgusting and Ive been going to Sams subs for a long time but I will no longer go because of this. the corned beef was cold fatty and just stringy. I miss the owner going in and checking on his stores when he was in Guelph. it was great. they wanted to charge me $14.99 for a large fries and gravy. this is called price gouging

We ordered takeout. I had two hotdogs and potato bites. The dogs were edible, the potato bites were inedible. My wife had the battered fish and onion rings. Both were freezer burnt and totally inedible. We have eaten in the restaurant and the food was good. The take out is terrible and I would not recommend doing so. We spent $50 and the food was horrible. Kinda wish we had made dinner at home and enjoyed a decent meal!!!

Very disappointed with the food and price of this place. The donair had some sort of sweet gross sauce that prevented us from eating it, the chicken fingers were too oily for the kids and the burger was soggy. Overall cleanliness was subpar and nothing great. To top it all off, they forgot a portion of our food. Ended up throwing half the food out anyway.

Yes it takes longer to get your food, but it is worth it. Food is always consistent, and tastes great! My boyfriend and I love this place! The restaurant is very clean and staff are very considerate and professional. The washrooms are very clean. The food here doesnt disappoint in anyway. I odered a cheese and bacon burger with a poutine. The poutine was OMG the best. Im from Newfoundland, and after a three month visit I was craving one of my favorite foods from back home, donairs! My family and I were making an hour long drive looking for a spot with a great poutine and reddit recommended Sams. One look at the menu and we notice that they also have some Newfie favorites like a Newfie mess and a classic donair. We were sold immediately! We tried a donair each along with a classic poutine, a couple of bacon poutines and a mango milkshake. My nephew said the mango milkshake was the best drink hes ever had, he was upset that it was gone. The donair made me feel like I was home, absolutely delicious. The bacon poutine was tasty. It was all around a satisfying meal. If we ever travel to Guelph again well definitely be back to this restaurant. The service was extraordinary, extremely friendly as well. They really know service with a smile

Just ate here for the first time with my son and it was not only amazing food but the service was way above and beyond. As soon as we entered and mentioned it being our first time. Nice and clean, has a good yet very generic vibe to it. The poutine with pulled pork was a good poutine yet it wasnt as special as smokes poutine and others. Be conscious that the prices are quite steep as I paid 17 dollars for a medium size poutine (their only size).

Thought we d give it another try after a not so nice experience the 1st time. Never again. Staff was extremely rude. The only thing that was an improvement was that it didn t have the disgusting odour it did last time.

Legit Halifax donairs! Update: something changed and the Donairs are not the same as they used to be. A lot less meat and the sauce was curdled and didnt taste like authentic Halifax sauce.

Visited for the first time after seeing some tasty looking pictures of the poutine with actual cheese curds - but was pretty disappointed when we didn t get cheese curds. The burgers (double patty) were great for the price, but why doesn t your poutine have cheese curds????

15 dollars for a 8 donair what a joke I can go to any shawarma place in Guelph and get a donair over double the size for the same price I should of never listen to my friend what a joke only way Im eating here again is if its to replace the joke of a donair I got for free I will not be recommending this place to anyone I know So I just ate the donair fyl you cant cover up way over spiced meat with the sweet sauce doesnt work no lettuce hardly and onion and I have never had a donair this spicy I have had donairs all over the world and this was by far the worst ever I gave a 1 cause theres no negative number opinions or I would give this place a -2 So I got a response from the store to contact them but that was it what a joke. Well I got a call was told they were going to do something for me and Im still waiting what a joke

First time at Sams Grill Guelph location. The service was good, their staff is friendly, polite and helpful. The food was delicious and very tasty. We order for takeout the combo #2 (hotdog and pouttine) and combo #4 (burger and pouttine). The hotdog was great but the burger was even better. Regarding to the pouttine, I wish it was made with fresh fries like I had at the Cambridge location. This Sams Grill location was clean and well maintained. I will definitely came back again and ask for fresh fries

Thought we would see what the hype is about. My husband ordered the Montreal smoked meat combo and I got the fish and chips with gravy. His sandwich was nothing special. Fries were ok. My fish and chips...the fish was out of a box one bite confirmed that. The gravy was bland. Fries were just ok. Why 1 star because this was over $40! I am sorry but not worth the money at all. Go elsewhere.

We were excited to try this place, but wont be back. We ordered a smoked Montreal meat sandwich and a poutine and it came to $31.00!!! Ridiculous. The food was okay, but the sandwich that cost $15 was so small it could fit in my palm. Im very disappointed.

Just had lunch here, it was great! Regular size sauteed poutine and a regular burger with bacon and cheese. A little pricier than a deluxe fast food offering, but the portions are large enough that I couldnt finish on my lunch break. Definitely good value to be found here. Will visit again!

Amazing customer service!! The Skip driver forgot my extra gravy and before I even received my order at my door the restaurant called and told me it was left behind and that they were driving it to me. Most places would have just offered to refund me the cost of the extra gravy. They definitely went the extra mile!

The fish was good and the smoked meat sandwich was good but.... The fries were horrendous. Looked like they were double fried and lacking salt. We were not impressed this time.

Pleeeeeease tell me that the change to the cheese curds isn t permanent! We order from here all the time because the cheese curds were actually REAL cheese curds. I picked up an order tonight and was disappointed to find that the cheese on the poutine has changed to something much lower quality. Still giving 3 stars because of past good experiences, and the fact that their burgers are amazing.

I am always pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. Yesterday I ordered Sams Grill over Uber Eats, and everything arrived in a timely manner; the food was hot and the fries were crispy and fresh. Also the haddock fish and chips were delicious, especially considering the low price! You can tell the workers put in a lot of effort through the quality of the food. If you havent tried it yet, I would highly recommend the fish and chips.

Two things, first one being on the interac terminal they only had options for tipping, while I can appreciate that, tipping is optional, shouldnt be mandatory. Secondly, the food was great, but portions were small.

Sams Grill makes a really nice Montreal smoked meat on rye sandwich and Ive had a few recently, but I do not appreciate that their credit card terminal is set up to beg for tips. Its an order counter like McDonalds where you place your order, pay for it, and someone serves it to you over the counter, either in a bag to go or on a tray to eat at one of their tables. In my opinion this service type does not merit a tip. It just makes the customer uncomfortable and puts them in an awkward position with the worker who handed you the payment terminal. It is so unnerving that I probably wont go back.

I ordered the Montreal Smoked meat combo. Very pricey for what I received. A small sandwich on rye. A dill pickle a side of poutine. A can of pop. 19.00 There was supposedly a side of coleslaw, but never got that and the meat was very fatty. I remember this meal very differently before Covid. I had this combo and the meat was lean, portion was healthier poutine wasnt drenched in gravy to mask a lack of potatoes and they certainly didnt forget items and charge a fee of 19.00! To boot there was a tip jar at the counter? What in SAM HILLS name am I tipping for? Staff are now making at least $15. /hour. Waitresses used to make roughly half or less and rely on tips based on level of service they gave. WOW! I call that just nervy.

I have brought Butter chicken poutine from here and It was so good for the price and kept the quality. Overall their service was excellent and much appreciated for their patience. Keep going

Best burger place in Guelph! I am not a poutine guy, usually it makes me feel sick afterwards, but this is the first place where Ive really enjoyed the poutine. Burgers are delicious, cooked fresh, made well, with all the toppings (to taste, you get to pick), and they are all included for free. Prices are very reasonable, staff are always polite and smile, havent had a bad experience yet. The place received a facelift about a year ago, and it looks a Lot better on the inside now. I like that you can see the cooking area, so you know they arent hiding anything. A must try if you like good burgers! Parking: Lots of parking available. Kid-friendliness: They offer a single patty kid-sized burger, plus other options such as hot dogs. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs or steps, bathrooms are wheelchair accessible.

We refer friends here & the Donaire is a great add on for that special down East taste. Off course the bacon poutine is always a go to as well for those cravings of bacon, fries, gravy & curds.
