Diwa Restaurant was so kind to accommodate our large group. They were so organized with our orders and the food was DELICIOUS. I would highly recommend!

Nov 27, 2024. Revising my review based on latest experience. You can access the situation yourself, for us it was not very good customer service, the person inside came very aggressively arrogant and not very polite way. They say timings are up to 9PM. it was Tuesday, we did not cook at home and thought to go and eat outside. It was 8.25PM, we were there at 8.05 and thought to pick up some items from their store behind thee restaurant. It took few minutes there. To make it short, when we went inside, the person look at me and said its closed. I knew she lied, at other times we have seen people eating past 9 as well. Nevertheless, we were there at 8.25, quite hungry, she did not have even a bit of care or curtsey that we are regular customers and often go there. Well, we stand there and look at her and thought in my mind how can some young people be so arrogant with no feelings yet they know us. Nevertheless, we may not go there again. We were in time as per their timings and yet we had to face such bhaviour. It seems we praised for them much that they changed suddenly. We had to come hungry from their place. People DO NOT get that food is such a thing that NO ONE should go hungry from door. Anyways. P.S. my reviews/comments are for improvements. Owners/operators should improve service.

Ordered vegetable pakora, but it wasn t included in my order. I called, they told me that I didn t actually pay for it, but they made the moment right by having the pakora delivered free of charge. Thanks for the great service!

Best Restaurant ever

The food was good, we enjoyed our dinner. I think the samosas were pricey. We took the food home so didnt get the full impression of the restaurant atmosphere.

Everything was absolutely delicious

Excellent food but be very careful with take-out/delivery. The single paper bag they use is overful and, in my case, the handles both broke off dumping curry and rice everywhere in the front hall. One expensive purse ruined. One pair expensive shoes ruined. One coat covered in curry sauce. Etc etc

Ordered food on friday and all the dishes were so good ate it today. 100 percent recommended.

The order was placed under my husbands name (for pick up on Saturday, lunchtime) but it most certainly was for your restaurant. Bought $75 worth of takeout yesterday. For the price you pay (about $18-20 per dish), one would expect more than 90 percent sauce with a few tiny pieces of solid food in it. They are very frugal with the portions of actual food in each container. The taste of everything was also extremely bland, so much so that even my husband (a white guy) needed to actually add spices from our cupboard to make it taste better. Very disappointing.

I took lamb biriyani last night and specifically said it has to be medium spicy ..food and spice level was not as expected .My kid vomited in the midnight and this should be my last order .Never ordering here anymore ..Worse experience.

Had a chance to visit this restaurant after a busy day. We ordered mutton Rogan Josh, Malai Kofta, Garlic naan, and chicken platter. All the different kinds of chicken in the platter was tasting amazing with side of spicy and sweet dips. The Mutton Rogan Josh was cooked to perfection in the best gravy. The mutton pieces were melt in the mouth .The Malai kofta was really tasty and the gravy really rich and creamy. Though the server had a tough time serving 6 tables at a time, she did a very job . The restaurant has the perfect ambience with proper lighting and a bar counter at the centre of the dining area! The liquor bottles look very flashy while eating food! This Indian restaurant is surely one the best to visit in Guelph and I am surely going to visit again soon!

Very nice food, very authentic. Its not a fancy restaurant, just a simple authentic type. Recommended for quality Indian food. We plan to return.

Had lunch at Diwa today, everything was absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious and the waitress was amazing. This is without a doubt, the best Indian restaurant in Guelph.

I liked this restaurant up until I ordered the Lamb Madras today Dec 8 2023. It was anything BUT lamb, in fact it was GOAT ! Very disappointed to say the least ! Update: Thank you for your response. I respect the fact that you think the Goat was indeed Lamb, But, coming from someone who has consumed Goat and Lamb for my entire life and prepared it as well for all of my adult life, I think I can recognize the difference. Yes the food tasted good and we did not complain, that doesnt mean we didnt want to as we all felt the same about our respective lamb dishes. My colleagues expressed that they would feel embarrassed, so I refrained. As for the tip. I always tip well when the service is good, and those girls should not suffer for our discontent with the food, they were pleasant throughout the entire meal. My colleagues and I have been coming to Diwa for years as we work very close by and we dont intend to stop. We will just order something other than the Lamb/Goat dishes. Cheers ! I was here today, worst customer service among all Indian restaurants in Guelph. Lady helping us on our table was so rude, did not show a common human decency.

Diwa is an amazing Indian restaurant that serves delicious food and has amazing service with a great atmosphere!

The food was amazing. I opted for the medium spice level and it was perfect. There is about a 20-30 minute wait on the food, so it might not be a good choice if you have a half hour lunch. I had the indian coffee, chicken tikka masalador and the garlic naan.

First things first, VERY welcoming place. I could not add much photos coz i was focusing on the food and the ambience. Server is an amazing person, following all the guidelines and very humble. We ordered Delhi chaat papri, absolutely amazing taste it was followed by chicken tikka masaladar, i would say chicken was okayish when compared to price, but that was compensated with the naan being served. Soft and crunchy as it should be. Overall Id say do try this place. Id like to visit again to try other dishes.

Vegetarian food was ok!!!

This is a lovely restaurant. The vegetable platter is great, the Lassi is delicious, and all our entrees were fantastic. The service was wonderful, and the whole experience was exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely return.

The food was excellent, very tasty. Cant remember when I had better Indian Cuisine. Service was a bit slow but didnt mind the wait because of the quality of the food. Waitress was very friendly.

Had dinner there Saturday April 29 with my wife and our daughter. My wife and I had never before had Indian food. It was wonderful. Also the waitresses were very helpful with suggestions for us. Will definitely return when in Guelph.

Food is very good but service is slow, long wait for take out order. When you call for take out order, they put you on hold for a minimum of 10 minutes, mostly longer before they even take your order and then the pick up time takes about 30-1.5 hours which is a turn off for customers. They should seriously improve their service in the above regard.

I ve been to this place several times and the service was on point. We were served super fast, no matter how big our order was. Especially one of their workers named TAMANNA i suppose. She was super quick from our order taking to serving. I remember it was almost the closing time but we were still served without any execptions. Great place 10/10

The service was very good, and the atmosphere was very nice. We ordered papadum and vegetable pakora with mango chutney for appetizers. They were all very good. We split the chicken tikka masaladar and palak paneer. They were delicious, and there was enough to take some home. We would return here if we were back in this area. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. The palak paneer and the vegetable pakora are particularly good.

Little annoyed that you have to pay for Naan bread. Normally bread is free. Food was fantastic Food : 4/5

Sweet little indian restaurant in Guelph, the interiors were nice and cozy, we had aloo paratha (for the kid), they made it less spicy as requested, thank you for that, although it could do with a little less ginger We had garlic naan with malai kofta, very very tasty, highly recommended Food

If you are hungry, dont go to Diwa. I found the quantity of all food was very less. Full tandoori chicken has only 4 small pics!! Moreover, no chutney, no onions with Tandoori chicken. When I asked, it was told that I need to buy chutney and onion. These are their side dishes. After almost an hour, they served the rotis first and chicken curry came after around 10 mins. Chicken curry had very less salt. There was no tissue, salt n pepper on the tables. We booked the table almost 4-5 hours ago. Looking at their service, we didnt feel like to order anything else. They were very slow in service. I will not recommend anyone.

We ordered takeout food, 2 items and both were uncooked and totally waste of money, we spent around $35 for that. I really got disappointed and hurt after paying the money asked for the food. They are very unprofessional in that regard when they are running restaurant, very bad experience with them as a customer.

Very pleasant atmosphere, excellent service and food is very good as are the the Lychee Martinis. Golab Jamun is lovely, used to get three now its two and a scoop of .... ice cream, doesnt quite do it for me. Vegetarian options: Many vegetable options including pakoras!

I recently dined at Diwa Classic Indian Cuisine, and I cant stop raving about it! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a lovely ambiance. The food was outstanding each dish bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch, waitresses are very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Whether youre a foodie or just looking for a great meal, this restaurant is a must-visit. I cant wait to go back and explore more of their menu!

I m quite picky about my Indian food and this place is delicious! Service is fast and efficient. Staff are friendly. And most importantly, food is flavourful. The naan bread is soft and fluffy, some of the best I ve had!

As travelers we always look for the bears restaurant to go eat and when l call and order the said food will take 15 to 20 Mn and l was there in time the lady ask me to pick up and l said yes l give her mpho Saigon and later l ask her for tea and she told me it took another 20mn for the tea and while l was thinking to what to decide she just told me oh the kitchen is busy bla bla bla bla and l told her it s ok l do not need anything else It s just this attitude Brock me down because l don t know because of my color and she prefers to serve the white peoples only the place is full only white peoples she get in get their food and l removed my self from the place.After another 6mn calling me and l did not pick up and went to went to pho Saigon and the welcome me and l feel very happy .

A great restaurant with very welcoming staff and food served is also very delicious and good looking and all the food was very fresh and tasty i loved it and i recommend you to try panner masala and butter naan and chicken tikka masala and other i went there 2 to 3 times and the service was very great and food as well.

Delicious food and amazing service. Frances was outstanding - so pleasant, attentive, cheerful - hard to find people like her in these times. I would recommend you hang on to her. She enhanced our experience which was already great because the food was amazing. I highly recommend this place but be warned it s a bit pricey. We wanted to try a few different things and portions were good but lunch was around $100 for two people. We did take some food home. I would suggest some lunch specials with smaller quantities and which come with rice or naan for a lower price. Or a tasting menu where people can try a few dishes but get smaller portions. Regardless of all this the food and service were excellent.

My family ate here recently and it has got to be the best Indian food I ve ever had. It s so yummy and full of rich flavours, and you get such a generous amount for what you pay. I recommend trying the peshwari naan and the masala chai, they are absolutely to die for. Also the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the interior is beautifully decorated.

The best place for romantic or family dine in. I found this place very quite and comfortable to spend quality time with your better half or family. The dishes they made were astonishingly tasty and quantity was just amazing. We ordered full dinner, but we were almost full by appetizers only. We ordered Tandoori Paneer Tikka and dahi chaat. It was just amazing. The serving staff was good.

My favourite restaurant find since moving to Guelph. We regularly order take out and love the vegetable pakoras, goat curry and bhoona lamb! The palak paneer and butter chicken are good too. We tried the lamb vindaloo but I was not a fan as it seemed to have a smoky bbq flavour.

Best Indian food in Guelph! Would recommend dining in and trying their vegetable platter as a starter and getting one of their sizzler plates, especially the Hyderabadi chicken tikka. The Indian coffee was a great way to end a meal. Overall would recommend.

I was searching for an alternative to Dianas Restaurant ( Indian Cuisine in downtown Guelph) thats more cost effective but doesnt compromise on the flavour and wow did I find it!! And only a 3 min drive from our place as well! We ordered the butter chicken, Aloo Gobi and rice. Service was fast and friendly ( we called in to place a take out order and the wait time was about 30 min). The portions were large enough for two people, decently priced ( under $40 for what I ordered above) and the flavour was amazing. I literally slept with a stomach ache last night with all the food I ate. Keep it up Diwa, we will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

The best Indian food in guelph. I ve tried lots of different restaurants in the city and they can t compare. It s our go to take out spot when we have a few people over.

The vindaloo was so clove forward it ruined all other flavour. The pakoras were good and the tandoori adequate but a little overcooked and dry.

The food is delicious but if you call ahead for pickup, make sure you set it minimum 15 minutes ahead of the time you want it at. I am about ready to stop going there because every single time Ive ordered (which is often more than once a month) Im stuck waiting there. Today, I placed at order at around 4pm-ish for pickup at 7:15. I was there at 7:10 and didnt receive my order till 7:41... Diwas please improve this, Im not the only one experiencing this. Thank you

Excellent food but slow service. It s kind of upscale Indian. We go there only on special occasions when we aren t rushing. Back again. Again excellent quality food. Judging by the speed, I would presume that they make what you ordered from scratch.

Visited for lunch , food was delicious. Right mix of spices and flavour. Service was good. 4 stars because they close at 2 and we felt a bit rushed around 1:30. Looked like they wanted us out soon. All in all though, positive experience and I will be back.

Wonderful experience here. We came in a group of 9, and our server took absolutely great care of us. The food was delicious. Even though this is out of my way, Im going to make sure I visit them again soon. Vegetarian options: Tons of stuff on the menu is vegetarian friendly. The waitress was very rude and unprofessional while attending. She had a pre judgement and asked us to go to the next store if we wanted samosas. What great way to greet your guests. Pathetic service! Note to the management - At least ask your staff to smile and greet your customers in a good way it affects the whole experience of your customers.

Great local restaurant for Indian food. The dishes and ingredients are fresh and clean, and dont end up feeling heavy afterwards. Cooked perfectly, could go heavier on the spicing but done very well overall.

The food is fantastic, but the $10 delivery fee plus driver tip seems a bit excessive.

Everything weve tried so far has been very tasty. Even reheated leftovers are fought over at our house. Staff is friendly. Portions are good. 2 samosas for 6$ seems a bit much but they are big and we splurge for them most times anyway.

Their customer service is awful, they rarely ever pick up the phone. They have the best Indian food in all of Guelph, its just as good as high end Indian restaurants in Toronto.

I loved their chaat papdi, so decided to order Salmon Tikka too thinking itll be worth the money and flavourful. However, we got two pieces of salmon (for around $17) and I had to pull a hair out of my mouth. Yes. The fish had hair attached to it. Found another small strand attached to the other piece too. And very coincidentally they were on the under side of the fish in the plastic food container. I really wish I could post pictures of them. I have them on me. Not going back there ever again. Very disheartening!

Absolutely fantastic Indian food - I would say best in Guelph. They are doing a lot of take out business in the pandemic, so if you are not using an app like us, I suggest calling well ahead. We are always so happy with our meal. The service has always been excellent and courteous. Also their extra hot is actually a spice level my hubby agrees is spicy

I ordered through skip. The taste was not good. I ordered 2 separate gravy but both has similar taste no difference. Both gravys were bland , not enough salt or spice. The delivery was done on time as mentioned.

The Chicken pakora was the best Ive ever had

We found this restaurant on Google when looking for a fun tasty date night meal. To say we loved it is not doing this delicious food justice. We ordered 4 dishes with pakoras and naan bread/rice. The portions were generous and filling. The spices where amazing and perfectly infused to enhance the flavours of the meat and vegetables. They did not overpower the natural zest. The ingredients where fresh and well prepared. I would 100% return to this location. If you enjoy Indian food you should give it a try.

The dal tarka is the star dish here, so fragrant, colourful and fresh. Well-priced menu, lots of selection, excellent vegetarian options. The yummy curries have been on the salty side several times now and that s my only critique.
