We tried their Goat Biryani and Chinese Biryani, and both dishes were absolutely delicious with a perfect balance of spices. The Goat Biryani stood out as one of the best I’ve had among Indian restaurants in Guelph—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The Chinese Biryani was a delightful surprise! It felt like a fusion of Hakka chicken fried rice with subtle biryani spices and basmati rice. This unexpected combo was unique and enjoyable, might try it again in future as well.
I love eating at Spice Roots! Everything cooked to perfection! Not as affordable as it used to be, I paid 41 dlls for an entree, naan and fish curry. Totally worth it though and I had enough to bring home.
I ordered garlic naan and Madras chicken, but instead of the chicken, I was sent channa masala. After seeing the mistake, I tried calling the restaurant at least eight times, but no one answered. My husband had to drive back to the restaurant to show them the issue with our order. Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to care. They hastily prepared something with chicken, but it was so bad that we ended up discarding the whole meal. In the end, we had to buy food from another restaurant.
I love this restaurant because it has great Indian food at reasonable prices. Their service is good although the day we visited only 1 waitress was serving but as we were not in a hurry it didn't matter. Even so she did a great job. They have a window in the restaurant where you can see the Chef making the naan and some of the food. I had the curried lamb and rice. One of my friends had the Chicken Tikka Masala and another friend had a fish dish. We also had the chicken pakora appetizer, Masala tea, cheese naan and garlic naan.
Phenomenal value; 6 different food selections were both super-delightful to look at as well as savour - perfect for sharing with each other. Service was excellent! Extras like tea, cheese baked naan, pita crisps - all were amazing! Highly recommended!
Great place to visit if you’re looking for food in Guelph. The food was absolutely delicious that we had to order more. I usually love eating Indian food and this was the best I’ve ever had! The atmosphere was very warm and friendly and the service was spectacular, everyone was so nice and helpful. I would recommend getting the garlic naan with any order. Excited to go again and will be recommending this place to everyone I know!
This place was delicious. Our group ordered three curries which were packed with flavour. Each one had their own personalities and paired with the butter naan was amazing. Don’t be fooled by the size, it was actually a good amount of food that I couldn’t even finish The service was great! Were so kind and made sure we were taken care of. The chefs were also very good at what they do. I was very surprised at the quality since it came out so quickly. I highly recommend this place for great authentic Indian food. I look forward to going again!
I don’t get much chance to dine in but today I finally did. I tried their steamed chicken dumplings today from the new menu and it was was amazing, served with a home made sauce. Dipa was my server and she was very sweet and professional. They have new owners and he seemed to be a nice gentleman. Also, they have greats deals going on right now and I love their patio. Cheers to the team of Spice roots and all the best.
The food was delicious or flavorful. Excellent environment, friendly service. Will be back. Good atmosphere.
Excellent environment, friendly staff, Delicious food.proper hygiene, it made my day and dinner fabulous with great taste and love
Unhygienic restaurant When we complained to owner about fly on our food so he said, its fly season and we can t do anything . So think twice before you visit this place to deal with this attitude.
Food arrived cold. Pekoras were doughy and had no flavour. I had asked for no spice and yet the food was very spicy. Finally, we found a hair in one of the dishes. After calling the restaurant they refused to take responsibility. All they said is that I could get one free dish if I came again. Will never be going here or ordering from them again.
The food is delicious, I ordered lamb biryani and kadhai chicken and the 2 garlic naan. I would highly recommend this place.
Always the best, always the sweetest and not to miss their amazing food!!! 10/10 for me ALWAYS!!
Food is too good, especially PANEER TIKKA, PANEER LABABDAR. I love their service. Customer dealing is good, as MUSKAAN deals at the time of dine-in. Thanks alot for making my meal remarkable.
If i could give 1/2 a star i would rather do that. Ordered chicken tikka masala and naan. The chicken tikka masala was tasting like something else altogether. Chicken pieces were just regular unmarinated chicken breast pieces. It is supposed to be chicken tikka pieces in a gravy. The gravy itself was tasting nothing like a tikka masala gravy. The naan was burned as well. Was craving for some Indian food and was so disappointed.
I visited this restaurant for dinein with my friends and we ordered paneer tikka masala, fish pakora and garlic nann. The taste of all dishes was amazing. This is the best restaurant in guelph.
The food is delicious, especially the Dal Makhni a bowl of creamy comfort, rich spices, and buttery warmth in every bite.
Food quality was excellent and friendly staff .. highly recommended
Good service
Dinner was terrific. There is a wide menu selection. Dinner for four with wine was around $120. Highly recommend.
The food and service was amazing. They prepared my order with care and the food was simply exceptional. Would highly recommend!
Out for a drive, spotted this place, decided to check it out. VERY impressed with the food, flavours were dancing on my tongue. And I even enjoyed the tamarind sauce (I dont usually like it) for dipping our pakora. Service was good, we were the only patrons. Though we live over an hour away, Id make the trip back just for the Amritsari chicken!! Ive never tried it before, now its my new favourite. Thank you for a great lunch, with leftovers for our dinner this evening!
Great service and delicious food! The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was flavourful and perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous. The cozy atmosphere added to the experience. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Fantastic dining experience! The service was prompt and welcoming, and the food was outstanding fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The chicken dish was a standout. Great atmosphere too. Highly recommend for anyone looking for both great taste and service!
Spice roots brings authentic Indian flavors to the city, and it s a gem for anyone craving a traditional dining experience. The restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere, with colorful décor and Bollywood music playing softly in the background, setting the perfect mood for a delightful meal.
Delicious food, great service, excellent catering service! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian food options, check manu online. Food : 5/5 |
We had dinner at the Spice Roots this evening. The food was incredible. The best I ve ever had!! The atmosphere was lovely. Prices were great. I would highly recommend giving them a try. You won t be disappointed.
The services was amazing here!!! Would highly recommend the Manchurian chicken!
Super friendly staff and food was amazing! Highly recommend for a large party!!
I d recommend any of the hakka menu, me and my friend group came here to celebrate a friends birthday and we ordered a family dinner. Food was so good I still kept eating .
We had an exceptional experience at Spice Roots, the food and employees are amazing. They are one of the most welcoming staff in Guelph and is perfect for a larger group. They are accommodating to each and everyone s requests and comfortability. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially those who never tried it before. It will shock your world!
I am kind regular customer with this restuarant, Since the owner change the food quality get bad and buffet menu worst ever had .
Overall experience was good. The staff and team members were polite. Vegetarian options: Paneer Lababdar was good. Food : 4/5 |
Good amount of chicken and tastes great
Delicious food! Tried the Amritsari Stuffed kulcha with Chana and it was amazing! Was missing this from India!
Amazin food, even better service. Had dinner with family and evryone loved the food. Dal makhani and kadhai paneer was exceptionally tasty
I recently visited the Indian and Hakka restaurant and had a great time. The Chicken Tikka Masala was flavorful and rich. The Hakka Noodles were perfectly spicy and satisfying. The chicken lollipop were crispy and delicious. Lassi was so tasty. Our server, Dipa, was excellent. She was attentive and gave great recommendations. Her service made the meal even better. Overall, the food was fantastic and the service was top-notch.
Great food and service. Loved it
The food is ok but the place had a rat. The table we had was dirty. I have been here before but it was never such a bad experience. The servers didn t know what is on the menu and rather untrained or unbothered. Food
Worst resturant ever, if I talk about the staff, everyone is so dumb there that they dont even know how to behave. They serve staled food. Very bad management and overall worst experience.
It was my first time experience here and I just love it . The people are so nice and the service was good and food was really good.
Very good management. Staff is very kind and polite. Food is very delicious. Loved the quality and service. Must visit.
Spice Roots Indian restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with a perfect blend of traditional flavours and modern twists. The ambiance is inviting, and the service is top-notch. From the fragrant spices to the mouthwatering dishes, every bite tells a story of authentic Indian cuisine. A must-visit for anyone looking to savor the true essence of Indian flavours!
The food and environment was good a month ago but now the food sucks and the tables are not even clean and organized. I heard the owner is new. It was better when the previous owner was managing it. I would have suggested earlier to go there but now there is not point in going there as there are better options in the market.
Spice Roots was a disappointment from start to finish. The food lacked flavor and freshness, tasting like it had been reheated multiple times. Service was slow and indifferent, as if they couldnt wait for us to leave. Definitely not worth the hype or the money.
I had a disappointing experience at Spice Roots. The food were pricey in comparison to their average quality. We got a slow, unresponsive service that made us feel unwelcome. All in all, a disappointing eating experience..
Worst management Ive ever seen.
The food was so delicious! I got the goat Rogan Josh and the spice level was wonderful. My friend and I split a rice and a naan and it was the perfect portions. I will definitely come here again!
If u r craving an authentic taste of India in a warm inviting atmosphere, look no where else. The staffs were so nice and welcoming and the chicken lollipop was my favourite. The crispy samosa for appetizers was perfect. Naan breads and biryani with aromatic lamb meat that melts in your mouth. It just filled my craving. I heard there was change in by staff management but there wasn t any place for complain in their hospitality. Would highly recommend.
I just loved this restaurant food. Delicious food in a cozy setting. From curries to crispy appetizers everything tastes authentic. The staffs were friendly, and the atmosphere was great too. Perfect for anyone who loves Indian food. Definitely coming back.
Last week I went spice root I saw there a scheme for chicken lollipop I love it and the staff is very friendly and calm environment .
Love the chicken fried rice.
Overall, the place is amazing. The food was exceptional, offering a delightful variety of options for all tastes. Every meal was crafted with care and attention to detail. The ambiance enhanced the dining experience, making it both memorable and enjoyable. The staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. If your looking for a great meal, this place has something for everyone.
Ordered kadhi paneer and dal makhni, the kadhai paneer was just onion and tomato cooked together with 4 cubes of paneer and half container of dal. Not worth it.
I had visited here before the pandemic, and found it very good - returned the other evening for dinner and was VERY impressed. We ordered a variety from the menu, all very flavourful and delicious. Portion sizes were generous (we had enough for lunch next day). The restaurant is classy casual, and I think its family run, which is a bonus.
It use to be my favorite restaurant but not anymore because the quality of food is pathetic and same goes with the service as well. The plates were dirty and the service was super slow inspite they were not busy. I have provided them feedback several times but they don t listen. I am done with this restaurant.
Above and beyond
I have been to this restaurant so many times and this restaurant has never failed to make me happy, I love the really kind staff, and it is so calm over there, their service is on top tier, The FOOD IS REALLY GOOD, the chicken lollipop, daal, butter chicken, tandoori chicken and other stuff is really good too, they have cheap prices but food is on top and the service I would definitely recommend going there are trying out variety of different food.
I recently dined at Spice roots, and it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, reflecting the rich culture of India. The menu offered a diverse range of authentic dishes, each bursting with flavor. I especially enjoyed the butter chicken, which was perfectly spiced and tender. The service was prompt and friendly, adding to the overall pleasant experience. If youre looking for genuine Indian cuisine, Spice roots is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Authentic Indian flavors paired with exceptional service, Must Visit ! Food
They have lunch buffet, its really good
Order only by UberEats, SkiptheDishes & Phone. DO NOT ORDER ON WEBSITE. The Restaurant is perfectly amazing. Just got to know that someone made a false website for them and is taking orders. (DO NOT CLICK LINK IN THE WEBSITE) Ver Nice people - My issue was resolved very quickly.
Best food in the town! Chinese biryani not to be missed! Tandoori Fish is good too! Food
Super fast service, Great ambience and really kind staff. Everthing which I tried was delicious. Highly recommended in Guelph for best Indian food and chinese food.
This has to be my favourite place to pick up some of the best Indian food. From the butter chicken to the fish pokoras, everything is a 10/10. Must try next time you are looking for some delicious meals!!!
Spice Roots is one of my favourite Indian restaurants! The fish pakora, lamb curry, and garlic naan are a MUST!! I found out about Spice Roots a few months before I moved from Guelph and went about 5 times I even drove close to 1.5 hours for it! Also, there s halal options! Dietary restrictions: Halal!
Got food poisining after eating food. Whole family was in ER vommiting and stomach pain. This restaurant must be shut down. Horrible food.
Ordered a take out and requested that noodles shouldn t be super oily as it happened previous time, like they were drizzled with half litre oil after making them. The guy on phone shot us down saying we know what we make and thats how we make. Asked for Manchurian to be mild as kids were to be served the food as well. They made food so freaking spicy that wasn t even good for adults, had to dump it. If the host is so arrogant and ignorant, why bloody bother even taking orders for take out man. If you guys think you are busy on weekends and care a dime about phone orders, STOP DOING IT. STOP RUINING OTHERS MONEY AND THEIR DINNER.
Lunch takeout from the buffet: prompt and helpful service as we made our selections from the good range of dishes available. The food however was not to our taste. Rice, channa and palaak paneer were acceptable, but Aloo Gobi was stale-tasting and too oily for us. Goat curry was too greasy for us. Naan too tough and oily for us. Meal left us feeling bloated and somewhat nauseous.
Not great food & terrible service, rude staff.
VERY GOOD 2024/02/06 They have one of the best Malai Kofta curry, consistently good. I would call one of the best in Canada. Many people are not able to make this right, this place had it. Here is my review of other items: Malai Kofta: 5/5 - one of the Best. Mixed-Veg: 1/5, I find some of the vegetables could be cooked more to make them smooth rather than having little raw flavour. Dal-Makhani: 3/5, it could have little less salt. Sag-paneer/Spinach paneer: 5/5 - one of the Best. Kadi Pakora / Yogurt curry: 3.5/5 - this also has too much salt, it could have less salt. This is rarely found in restaurants, try it is good. It could be improved. Roti: 5/5 - very good. Salad: 5/5 - very good. Gazar halwa: 5/5 - very good. Paneer items (kadai paneer, matar paneer, shahi paneer etc.): 4.5/5 - very good. Rice: 4/5 - good. Atmosphere: 4/5 - overall good, I find sometimes it is a bit loud music. They have many items good however they mixed-veg and cauliflower is always consistently undercooked, not very nice. They have been informed about this but we got consistently BAD cauliflower/mixed-veg/aloo-gobi curry. Do NOT take this item. They have a very good affordable buffet as well during lunch time: Tuesday to Friday 11.30AM to 2PM, you can enjoy different curries in a cost effective way. P.S. My reviews are to help people, business owners that they could improve.
Really great food, especially the paneer dishes! We were served by a blonde lady that was both very kind and on point with everything. Not a single complaint and will definitely be back next time we re in the area :)
Closed on Christmas Eve there not even Christian
BEST Indian food in the GTA! Fantastic, friendly, and very attentive staff. Theyre extremely knowledgable about the menu, and have a great selection of vegan/vegetarian options. My favourite dishes are the Veggie Manchurian, Pubjabi Subzi, and of course, the garlic naan! Thank you Spice Roots.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Spice Roots Indian Cuisine and I can honestly say that it was an amazing experience! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I was especially impressed with the level of attention and care that the staff provided. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend, to anyone looking for a great meal! Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating with dietary restrictions Parking: Lots of parking
Nice Indian food, good quality..fine dine-in
Excellent food and service. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Best Indian food in town! Chicken pakora is a must for an app.
I have no idea what I are, but followed the recommendation of the wait staff...it was amazing
Good service and so delicious food and good environment
Lunch buffet was very tasty. The waitress is very friendly and efficient since she was the only wait staff. Would definitely return to the restaurant
Vegetarian options: Not sure about halal but the vegetarian and fish dishes are exquisite Parking: Can get a bit congested with the other services in the plaza
The food was amazing, and the service was very friendly and efficient. We had Lamb Curry, Chicken tikka, garlic naan and veggie pakoras! We will go back for sure!
I went in with my family for a birthday dinner. The food didnt taste that good and when it was time to pay the gratuity (tip) was already added to the bill without my consent or knowledge. After I paid and tried to give the tip (cash). The waitress tells me me it was already added to the bill.
We always go to this place for family dinners and celebration but today we had terrible experience. The staff asked for 15% tip on door and service was very poor. She added the tip on the bill before she gave us the bill. We were very disappointed with the service.
Love the food here and service is good! Sometimes they have a good deal that comes with more Naan. Only issue is portion sizes of curry s are a bit on smaller size. Coming here with friends is great, and when you split the bill, it doesn t cost too much. I recommend coming here.
Great Biryani!
We went in at 6.30 pm today. Asked for a table of 6, and then we were seated immediately. It costed only 120 dollars for 5 adults and one kid. Very good parathas and hariyali chicken also was very good. Waiter was polite and very helpful. Will visit again. Thank you so much. Vegetarian options: Good variety
Food was good but it wasn t authentic, it s modified to fit north americans better, again nothing wrong with it but it wasn t something i was expecting. People were attentive and prices are fair. Patio and dine-in has good capacity and were clean.
Really enjoyed the food surprised by the restaurant interior its absolutely great to be able to go into an Indian or an Asian restaurant without it having to look bright as a cafeteria this place has a real good atmosphere and the food is five star for sure, what a surprise Im going back again often
We visited for the first time in August,23 and liked everything enough that we intend to go back. We shared two different curries, naan, rice, and samosas and ended up bringing almost half if it home there was so much. Everything was fresh and delicious. Parking is easy and right at the door.
This is how spice roots serve mint sauce with green food colour. I mean seriously why? Owner said customer doesn t like mint in sauce than how it gonna be mint sauce and why they are serving same thing to all customers if few customers doesn t like mint. It s completely watery.
Currently my favorite Indian restaurant in Guelph. Big portions, decently priced. Tasty food. I havent dined in yet. Gotten takeout many times though.
Don t know what people are talking about It s okay. And you know what the food ain t even hot. It s warm and cold. Have you people had real authentic Indian food. Honestly, disappointed in how the food taste the atmosphere should be good and service. They have less than 10 tables area Thinking they re the worst in Guelph
Excellent food! What they lack in atmosphere and wine selection, they more than make up for in flavour.
Consistently good flavours in the curries and pakoras every time I have visited. The service was good but the seats of the booths are cracked, hence the 4 star rating. I will definitely go back!
We were disappointed last night, we ordered punjabi sabzi and they provided is half cooked sabzi - this is very bad! Think about person is is hungry and goes to eat food which they find half cooked, this is just insane. I hope they improve food.
Nice spot with interesting decor, good food and courteous service. They have a nice summer patio as well. We tried a mix of tandoor and hakka dishes and all were well-done.
Good food and packed very well but didn t had the required sauces for tandoori s.
Lousy experience last evening on ordering take out. The meal came rather cold, and approximately 20 minutes late. I contacted the restaurant afterwards with regards to this issue, and the fact that one item that wed ordered (and had been crossed off of the receipt attached to the bag) was not there. No interest to rectify the situation, and not impressed at all.
We recently visited Spiceroot for the first time. The service was nice. However, the food taste was not that great. Was more so on the bland side. The most disappointing part was the quantity they served. We ordered a paneer dish, & given the price, the quantity was way too less! Ive been to several Indian restaurants in Guelph & other cities too, but the quantity I got here was definitely way less than what I paid for. Personally, I would not visit here again.
The food was damn oily. No sufficient salt. It was mostly tomato sauce added in the karahi paneer.
We have been the frequent visitors of this place but today was a really bad experience, the waitress named Gurkiran treated us rudely and demanded for tip. It was very disrespectful of her.
Updated review: removing some stars because of recent experience. Ordered my typical take out order but when I got home noticed that the container was literally HALF full. Felt like a complete waste of money. Not comparable anymore to other restaurants who offer bigger portions for the same cost. Willing to try it again as its my favourite, but will not hesitate to order elsewhere if it happens again. Spice roots has the best Indian in Guelph. I have been there at least 20 times because the quality of the food is amazing. It is the perfect comfort food. I order a variation of an item on the menu every time and Ive never had a problem. They are always happy to accommodate. Everyone Ive ever brought here has also adored their food. This is my go-to spot. I have spent the last few months trying other highly rated Indian restaurants in Guelph, just to see if anything could top Spice Roots and and nothing has even remotely compared to the quality and the taste of the food at this restaurant. I am certain, I will never go anywhere else again!
My favourite Indian food in Guelph
I called 6 times after 8 if u dont want to pick the call after 8 then change you open timings to 8
Good service
Friendly staff, quick service, amazing food and prices. Ive had both take out and dine in, both times its been fantastic. Cant wait to try more from their menu in the future.
Butter chicken was very watery and a little bland. Butter naan and garlic naan were delicious. Friendly but slow service.
Food quality is really good however they can improve the quantity. Also get ready to spend some extra dollars as its a bit expensive.
Food is great. Price is a bit on the higher end. The server Jade was awesome
Some of the best Indian food anywhere! Minus 1 star because last time I ordered takeout there was hardly any actual paneer in my paneer dish. I had some paneer cheese in my freezer so I defrosted it and added it to the sauce, but I shouldnt need to do this for a meal I paid full price for. The sauce tasted amazing though. We havent been back since unfortunately.
Their chili fish dry is really good. The inside of restaurant kind of dim and smells dusty but the service is great
Excellent flavours, our absolute favourite restaurant.
Not the good restaurant for Indian food. Under staffed and takes very long to get the food. And even after that food wasnt good. Wont recommend here.
The ambience and the service of the place was very good. I really liked the starters we ordered. It was fish and paneer pakora. But the main course disappointed us. First of all the quantity of paneer lababdar was less just enough for two with one naan each. Secondly, We were expecting and made special request to get our food Indian spicy but it was very bland probably made for English people. It was totally not worth it especially looking at the cost of the food.
Disappointed!! I ordered first time from this place and my experience was really bad. From when does Chicken tikka masala look like this? The taste was totally bland no flavours. Also ordered malai kofta. Both gravy s were same, totally waste of money Won t be ordering from this place again.
Really tasty food with just the right amount of spice. Nice patio vibe and great service from the staff. Loved our experience here. Thank you!!!
Disappointed!! I ordered first time from this place and my experience was really bad. Ordered 2 naan for pickup and waited for 30 minutes. Won t be ordering from this place again.
Nice light, flavourful food!
Recommended!
Worst indian food ever tried. Bland food . Absolute waste of money
I wish i could travel back and stop myself from going to this restaurant, pathetic food and service. ZERO KNOWLEDGE what is the meaning of spicy since there name say s spice root. No salt, no spice in food don t ask for dessert you can order malai kotfta
Google must have option to give negative ratings as well. Disgusting food i ever tried in my entire life.... worst management, when i complaint about the food they responded thats what we can do to make it spicy. I wish i could stop myself to going there.
It looks like they ran out of groceries!! No spices !! Biryani is like haldi and rice !!
If you ever wish to eat RAS MALAI, please order MALAI KOFTA!! Seems like they make their special sauce with sugar instead of SALT! No Flavours at all! Even worst indian food I have ever had !
My favourite Indian restaurent in Guelph! Great food and good customer service. Best armitsari kukcha in town
Very good ambience, polite staff and good service, ordered tandoori chicken; perfectly marinated; loved the place;; will come back again with my buddies.. keep it up
Great place if you looking for Indian food. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian dishes to choose from. Parking: Lots of parking on premises. Wheelchair accessibility: Front door automatic door opener wasnt working when I last visited.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Guelph! I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious Indian cuisine! It is a great place that everyone should visit! The chicken biriyani is excellent, and the smell itself is mouthwatering. We had excellent customer service from Ciara.
Fine taste, excellent service but the down side is quantity and price.
The food was good and staff was really friendly. Suman attended us and she was very polite and her recommendations were good too. Enjoyed my time there. Vegetarian options: Ordered sweet and spicy cauliflower, it was delicious. Manchurian, fried rice and monchow soup were good too.
Great buffet!
It s rare that a place deceivers consistent deliciousness over so many years. I have ordered take out here for 7 years now and it s always the best Indian food in the area including better than KW and Cambridge Indian restaurants. Big thick juicy pieces of meat. Flavour is amazing, heat on point. This is my spot
A bit expensive and average tasting Indian food. First time that I get charged for sides of rice and naans that doesn t come with main dishes. We will try another Indian restaurant next time, there s lots of them in G .
Usually got take out. Dine in is so much nicer. Naan is not wrapped in foil and crispy. Lovely silver containers. Best is that food is not so heavy that you feel it the next day (like with some other Indian places)
Cierra is an Amazing server with such a positive energy. You guys have maintained the quality of food in terms of taste& texture over the years . Will keep coming back. Thank you
Good food, good value, good service.
Delicious food great service always
Friendly counter lady, wore mask and very accommodating. Busy place with lots of delivery pickups. They all entered wearing masks and were respectful. Food was really flavourful and not overly spicy.
Last 3 orders I placed .... I expected mint sauce with my chicken dish but it s not the case ..... called them about the missing mint sauce and I was told they don t provide mint sauce with chicken starters which was a shock to me ... So I ordered tonight and I made a specific not for extra mint sauce and guess what again it was not provided . when I called them , I was told they do not see the notes I would be a happy customer if some one would have taken a responsibility and atleast apologise for the same Is it worth to spend $ 60 every order and for this service
Ordered dinner from here tonight. Wow. We ordered spicy dishes and the spicy wasnt over powering. The meats (goat and lamb) were so tender and tasty. Will definitely eat here again.
I enjoy ordering from here often! I recommend ordering the Chicken Pakora if its your first time - the two sauces it comes with are amazing. I also recommend the Kadi Pakora (with naan) and the Chicken Tikka. I think some of their spicy dishes could be spicer but they are probably trying to cater to everyones spice tolerance levels. Overall, Spice Roots has fast service and the servers are also so kind and diligent!
Best chicken pakoras in town! Fresh chicken used and can taste the difference. Friendly staff
Amazing food! Never disappointed with their food.
Excellent! Delicious and great service!
one of my favourite places. amazing food, especially for vegetarians!!
Weird Place. The food wasnt terrible, but it is so bland and uneventful. The exact opposite of what indian food should be. The name Spice Roots is super misleading, unless theyre using it ironically.
Two basic curries, butter chicken and a vindaloo were poor by comparison to curry houses in the UK. The butter chicken literally tasted like Campbells tomato soup and was thin and lacked body. The vindaloo was by no means spicy, was extremely oily and had no body to it. Use chicken thighs, add onions and add methi for a more flavourful curry. Ill stick to making my own.
Flavourful, authentic, fresh - our fav
Traditional indian food osam flavour.
Food was good, service was mediocre. To their defense I think the server was new. She forgot to bring plates and cutlery until asked and she didnt tell us which dish was which. Pretty sure I had the vindaloo, it was not spicy at all though. My wife had the Tika Masala. I would give them another chance if I was in the area again.
Love there kebabs and Naan only
Food is always amazing! Portion sizes are large - so we always have leftovers
Our favourite Indian food in Guelph! Were never disappointed. So tasty!
Worst place to order Indian food Waste of money Never order from this place
Amazing food all time fav aloo tikki with tandoori roti
Amazing tasty India cuisine! Great portions too
If youre a Chai/Indian Tea lover, you must try it here! The food is great too, many Indian restaurants claim to have authentic Indian cuisine, very few actually do but its true for this place. This place is a gem of Guelph and a must try!
I ordered a chicken vindaloo, a dish I have had many, many times. On this particular visit I phoned my order in as I live about 40 minutes north of the restaurant. I was looking forward to my vindaloo, but when I got home and looked at my food I thought this doesnt look like any dish I have ever ordered from here before. Firstly it was bland and tasteless, very unusual for a vindaloo. The color was a deep red??? It was not paprika, I am pretty sure they used a deep red food coloring powder in it. I did call and the restaurant and explained what I had received. Well they said nothing! But will give me 15% off on my next visit. I wont be back so you can stuff your 15%.
Must try garlic naan..!
Can t believe I haven t reviewed Spice Roots yet. We just discovered Spice Roots about 6 months ago and it s been our go to restaurant for Indian cuisine ever since. Some great authentic flavour. Definitely give it a try!
I ordered Goat biryanis yesterday and they were awful. Worst biryani I ever had and the smell was wired too.
Ive tried several of their vegetarian options - the portions are large and everything is always delicious! I would definitely recommend the Paneer Lababdar or the Bhengan Bharta.
Pls don t waste your money on this restaurant.. Uncooked Chicken & Paneer delivered. No one attended to our complaint. Worst Indian food in Guelph.
Pretty good food
Love the food, love the service. Good atmosphere. Only complaint is sometimes the restaurant is a little chilly. We eat here almost weekly, sometimes more cuz we like it that much!
Best Indian Restaurant in Guelph
I haven t had a better chicken tikka ever. Their Naan is cherry on the cake.
Nice curry, went there couple times!
Best pekoras anywhere
Love their food
They have best chicken tikka rest is average
Great food, authentically spiced. Great service.
Friendly service, a great place to go for some delicious food!
one of best Indian food in town
Delicious Curry always fresh! Yummy
They are fair priced and portions are good. I do find it a bit underwhelming in terms of seasoning - which may be a bonus for some.
Probably my favorite place to go out for dinner. Cant think of a comparable restaurant in terms of customer service, portion size and overall quality of food.
Amazing food!
Consistently very good. Very flavourful. Lots of options including vegan. Highly recommend this restaurant.
My favorite Indian restaurant in town. Their website says this is their second restaurant and the first opened in Nairobi in 2002. Whenever I walk in the door I m reminded of Kenya and I think the international character of the restaurant is partially to thank for the excellent and unique taste and smell of the food.
Let me tell you naan and kabobs were great delious fabulous perfect. Chicken Biryani was fantastic.
Food is average. Designed for Canadian tastebuds. Not truly authentic Indian food.
Great food. Great service. Good price. 5 star for sure...
Delicious food and pretty presentation. The naan bread especially was amazing
Very spicy and tasty. Always a good choice
Best mushroom dish, garlic naan is awesome

Best Indian food in Guelph by far! Consistently good curries & best naan ever
Weve been here 3 times, and will be back! Delicious Palak Paneer, naan bread and kulcha.
