Such a wonderful place with amazing ambiance, staff and owner! The lovely owner, Ali, came to talk with me and shared his story about his restaurant. Everyone was so friendly and their cheesecake was probably the best I ve had in years! This place is perfect for date night, birthdays, or just simply being in the mood for some great Italian food. Such a gem. Thank you Ali and Sarah!

Every sip, every bite, every moment was 10/10!! When I called to make a reservation, I was so lucky to speak with Dave Brown who worked his magic and got us a table for 8 at 7pm for our annual family Christmas dinner. We were all SO excited as we already know how delicious the food is and last night did not disappoint! We loved the wine that was brought in special for the Christmas season and recommended by the sommelier. We enjoyed every bite of the calamari, burrata cheese and bruschetta appetizers; not a crumb was left :) Our mains of different pizzas and pasta were presented exactly how we had anticipated and even the request for the well done pizza with extra onions and balsamic drizzle was done to perfection! To top it off, the incredible staff made our evening. They were welcoming, kind and considerate, making sure we were well taken care of without being over the top. We enjoyed every minute and we will definitely be back to celebrate even more occasions.

Came in for dinner for my birthday with my wife. Ali was extremely welcoming and brought us directly to our seat upon entering. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for and the service level was 10/10. We shared the braised beef cheek which was one of the best things I ve ever tasted, and we also shared the pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Cass was our server and she was awesome! Will return

Exceptional Experience at Buon Gusto Guelph! My Family and I had the pleasure of walking into Buno Gusto this Sunday for Dinner and we were so happy with our experience. A special shout-out to our server, Des, who truly made the evening for us. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond! Such warm demeanor and made really great recommendations. Salad portions significantly smaller than ever before. Servers never bothered to check in at all. Only to tell us one hour in that someone dropped the pizza. Having worked here for years. I was just disappointed. What was a spontaneous dinner date idea, turned into 2 hours of just sitting around trying to wave servers down and get at least another drink while we waited I will need a lot of convincing to dine again.

A fantastic place for a meal out with friends. We had a large party, and service was very quick, friendly and excellent. Food was DELICIOUS. When they recommend a special, try it ! I wished I lived nearby, this was a wonderful meal.

One of the best Italian restaurants I ve ever tried! The food was absolutely phenomenal. Be sure to try the Tiramisu, it s truly one of a kind. Wonderful staff.

We had a reservation for dinner at 5:15 and told the server right away that we had a show to go to at 7:00. We enjoyed the beet salad and wine and then waited... and waited... and waited. Finally at 6:45 when the main course still had not arrived, we flagged the server and had to ask to take the main course off the bill because we had to leave. Very disappointing.

My boyfriend and I came here for the first time today as we were in the Guelph area. I am so glad we decided to drop by. We got a pizza and some calamari to start and were not disappointed. The crust on the pizza was delicious. I was craving just your typical traditional pizza and I am very pleased with my experience. Our service was great too. Very friendly staff. We will definitely be back to try more pizzas and apps!

I honestly dont know what the hype is all about. Very uncomfortable seating, bland food, and the up charges are ridiculous. Will not be back.

Nov 16/24 edit. 2nd time eating at this restaurant and beyond impressed. Many different apps, entrees, and desserts chosen for dinner and every single one was delicious. And minimal wait time. The server was attentive, professional, and provided 1st class service. Would recommend this restaurant 100%. First time trying this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Making the reservation was easy. We arrived and table was ready. We ordered apps, entrees, and desserts. Everything was delicious - although desserts could have been tastier. The service was fantastic. Claire was attentive, but not overbearing. Patience will be needed as it took some time for food to arrive, but worth the wait as it was fresh, and fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Can not speak highly enough! Was in town and just needed to find a place to eat and drove by. SO GLAD we stopped! Service was fantastic and price is very reasonable for the absolutely INCREDIBLE tasting food! Probably one of the best meals I have ever had - the gnocchi! Will make special trips back to Guelph JUST to experience more!!!

Great staff to greet and serve you everytime and the new owner Ali, makes a point of coming around to say hello. A great atmosphere and food makes us travel 45 minutes to get here and its been worth it every time.

Brought my corporate team here following a day of team building. (Team of 14). I have organized many dinners for our team over the years but the process was made so simple by the staff at Buon Gusto, which I greatly appreciated. Arguably the best booking experience I have ever had. We sat in a wonderful open, yet, private room that felt like we had our own space but were not excluded from the atmosphere of the restaurant (which was very nice). The magic started when we walked in the door as we were greeted by the owner! He made certain to show our group to our seats and asked if there were any questions about the space, wonderful touch. We had the pleasure of having Kelly as our server, she was wonderful AND EFFICIENT. None of our group ever had to wait for a drink or an appetizer, she was seemingly always present but never in the way. A true professional. The food was fantastic, we had calamari, meatballs (the meatballs, do yourself a favour and order double whatever you think you want - they are unbelievable). The bruschetta was a big hit with our group as well. Lots of options for beers, and non-alcoholic drinks, the cocktails were very well received (the grapefruit mojito was my go to for the evening). Overall the food was exceptional, the pizzas are obviously the best youre going to eat in the Tri-City but the homemade pastas are phenomenal as well. I had the lobster ravioli, outstanding option if its available. The specials were also a big hit with the group as well. We ordered dessert (the cheesecake) and ended up ordering more as they were delicious. Overall this is clearly an establishment that is a well oiled machine. The staff are exceptional, the food is made and crafted with care and passion. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quality meal in an exceptional space (and if youre looking for a big group event - do yourself a favour and book with Buon Gusto, these people are professionals and will make you look really good!). Vegetarian options: We had a vegetarian in the group and they had ample options for both pizza and pasta.

Beautiful restaurant, poor food with barely average service. Mushroom soup was awesome, Caprese salad had very bland tasting tomatoes (maybe try a different supplier??), and Id bet money they used canola/vegetable oil in the Caprese instead of olive oil, or some watered down version of olive oil to save on costs. The seafood linguine was super bland, clearly the kitchen does not cook pasta in salted water as you should. To their credit, it was perfectly al dente, though. The seafood in the pasta was not fresh and nearly 1/3 of the mussels had the atrocious manure-like taste because they werent fresh - I had to spit them out. 3 hours after this dinner, and I still have that aftertaste in my mouth. Our server also made a strange comment when ordering the house wine and said are you sure you dont want to try something from a bottle?. We declined the upsell but she was right because the house wine was quite honestly poor quality. After our main dishes were brought out, we were pretty much forgotten about and I had to wave down another restaurant staff just to get some salt. Overall, this place gets 2/5 stars because of the cuisine - definitely a lot of space for improvement there - wont be coming back anytime soon.

Came here for dinner, amazing just like the last time we were here. The focaccia was warm and delicious, as well as our appetizers and mains. The manager, Aria, graciously recommended a great bottle of wine and our server, Bre, was also incredibly friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend, as the service and atmosphere are unbeatable in Guelph!

The service was excellent. The food my friends had was delicious. I had a pizza and it wasnt bad but wasnt great either. It was a buon gustso pizza. The lackluster part was the hot peppers. There was no hints of the pickle flavour or a spicy kick. Just tasted of bland mush. Really detracted from the taste. Just felt like I was eating nothing but dough. For the price, I was expecting a lot more. I would avoid that particular pizza and try a different one next time. The pasta looks like the better bet.

Came here for a cute dinner date with my partner who used to work here for years and used always have a great time as well as service here. Unfortunately this place has gone downhill in the last few months, service was horrible, with a restaurant not being any busier than it usually is, the main entree took over an hour to receive with no one coming into check on us regarding wanting drinks or anything else while we waited. The only person to acknowledge us an hour after having our appetizers cleared was one server, who wasnt serving us before, come by to apologize that they had dropped our pizza and had to have it remade, which is understandable. Trying to get our bill and then be able to settle up also took an extensive amount of time despite what seemed to be the FOH manager present and multiple staff passing us by. This was ridiculous and for a restaurant that usually had a great standard of service it beyond disappointed. This will be the last time we visit here and will absolutely not recommend to anyone.

I havent been in awhile and I came here with my wife and daughter for my birthday dinner. They are very attentive to kids and making sure their needs are met. Which can be a challenge at times. The food was so good and everybody at the table cleaned their plates. I loved their hot oil to dip my pizza in. We will be back again soon.

I ve been here numerous times and the food and service is out of this world! Definitely get the calamari as an app along with the arancini and mushroom soup.

Amazingly impressive Italian restaurant, everything tastes great! The grilled octopus is fresh and tender! The mushroom soup is fragrant, thick, and comes in a big bowl! Highly recommended: pistachio pizza. I couldn t imagine it would have such a unique flavor! The pistachios and cheese go so well together!! The pasta is perfectly al dente and well-coated with sauceeeeee.

We had lunch with friends at Buon Gusto. While the service was good and the room was warm and welcoming I was disappointed with my entree choice . I first ordered the mushroom soup, excellent , good texture and temperature . My main course: SHRIMP GENOVESE shrimp, spaghetti, tomato, basil pesto, pancetta, red pepper, arugula, grana padano Whilst the spaghetti was plentiful, I only found three match size strips of pepper, and a few kernels of grana padano, also, the pancetta was in such small quantity that its flavour was lost in the dish . The spaghetti whilst well cooked was dominated by the basil pesto, the olive oil was drizzled with a heavy hand , my shrimp and grape tomato were plump and tender. The coffee was bitter, I couldn t drink it . My wife found the margarita to be bland , it was baked dough with a smear of tomato sauce and a light sprinkle of vegan cheese ,perhaps a sprinkle of basil , a drizzle of olive oil would liven it up. The vagan cheese was An up-charge item which we found strange? I can see a lot of effort was made in the training of wait staff and your dinning room decor . We hadn t been there in years. Dinner was delicious. Portion sizes were plentiful. We had a great sever Kelly. She was attentive and delightful and made recommendations which we appreciated. The only con I can think of is the parking. Parking is a little bit of a nightmare in downtown Guelph

Amazing meal.

We have eaten here twice now. Its always been busy but they fit us in without a reservation. The service and the food was fantastic both times. It is now our official must stop in Guelph. Parking can be a little tricky, but definitely worth the effort.

Enjoyed my birthday dinner at Buon Gusto! Decent portion sizes, excellent food and service with a bonus greeting from the owner (very much an involved leader who clearly values relationships with customers). I had the Shrimp Genovese and my husband ate the Lobster Ravioli - you could taste the fresh ingredients and the ravioli was decadent and creamy. My children ate pizza and were quite filled! Would definitely visit again .

Buon Gusto is one of the best restaurants in Guelph. Classic and timeless menu, amazing food and atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff - being a Guelph local, it feels like family; it feels like home. Enjoyed the dazzling pork belly, a delectable gnudi - double points on ricotta instead of potato, and a shared a few pies with my wife and twins. Alex and Ali were extremely attentive and accommodating.. so much so, that an unpredictable night out with our 13 month-old twins turned into something really fun and special because they treated us like family and made sure our every need was covered. Kudos to the whole team, you rock! I highly recommend Buon Gusto!

Went to Buon Gusto to celebrate my son s birthday. As per usual Dave and his team gave us great food, service and treated us like family. This is why we continue to make this is our go to spot.

Overall pretty good. Pizza need to improve their cheese game on the pizza as it wasnt that good service by the lovely ladies was great. They didnt have bottled water, but they were generous enough to ask offer a glass of water

Almost choked to death on the rubbery calamari here. Literally had to have the heimlich. They still charged us for the dish. Also they got rid of the spag and balls.

Never been and heard so many good things. We were a couple for lunch and wow it did not disappoint I think it was the best wood fired pizza I have had in the area. Drinks and service were really good and we would definitely return. My wife said to mention it s the best house wine (red) we have ever had in a restaurant.

We came for our anniversary. A lovely meal and good service. My pasta was supposed to have pancetta, and that was missing -- otherwise, everything was yummy. The crema bruciata was especially delicious.

Pretty good tasting food overall. The star of the meal was the mushroom soup, had an amazing amount of mushrooms and not overwhelming on cream. Service was friendly. Parking on side streets can be a bit further.

One of the better Italian restaurants in and around Guelph. Service is excellent. Food quality can be a bit inconsistent. Ive been here twice, and some of the items on the menu are hits, and some should be reevaluated. The calamari arrabbiata is one of the best calamari dishes Ive ever had. Delicious sauce with just the right amount of heat. The octopus was significantly overcooked and under-salted, and the cannellini beans with it were a questionable pairing.

Take out. Got Caprese salad with very little actual mozzarella. Unfortunately I am at home. Too bad I need to check everything it acute before leaving the restaurant. Food : 3/5

Sometimes I forget Im in Guelph when I come here. The food is phenomenal if you appreciate Italian cuisine. The cocktail menu is diverse and has some fun drinks and the wine menu has something for everyone. Great spot for a quick casual meal or dress up date night the place oddly suits both. Best restaurant in Guelph!

Restaurents are rated on food ambiance and service. The service was elevated here from the minute we walked in. We were greeted by the GM Dave and served by Natalie. We must say Dave was knowledgeable and welcoming. Food was good. Ambiance was good for Guelph standards.

Had a delicious meal yesterday. The waitress was very friendly and helpful.Because there was a shortage of staff in the kitchen, everything would take a little longer. The extremely friendly manager did everything he could to make it as pleasant as possible. Pizza DAbruzzo was tasty. And the Tagliatelle Chinhiale Bol was delicious. Next time Im in Cambridge Canada I will definitely come back for dinner ! Maybe even twice

My husband and I decided to eat here for our anniversary and all I can say is that the entire experience was a 20/10! PHENOMENAL!!! It has been years since we have had a high quality, beautiful place to nosh. Buon Gusto is it! This is now our favourite place to eat, we cannot express our gratitude to find a restaurant like this, especially so close to home! The food was amazing - we had the calamari arrabbiata and the crispy pork belly apps to start followed by beautiful entrèes and ended with the most perfect macchiato. The timing of the meal in between the appetizers was perfect, gave us time to digest before the mains came. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. Magda was our server, she was absolutely delightful, and made our entire experience. She was the best we ve ever had to be honest! So warm, personable, attentive and we felt so well tended to. Thank you Buon Gusto for making our entire day! We will definitely be regulars going forward.

I cannot recommend Buon Gusto enough. Amazing staff. Delicious food. Friendly and casual atmosphere. I m going again tonight and taking more people with me. Everyone needs to try this amazing restaurant. You ve got to eat here. SO good!!!!

A nice and cozy place but the staff was a bit discriminating towards Indians. Pizza was average-not so upto the mark. Couldn t sit there for more than 35-40 mins due to the negative and weird atmosphere cause of the staff.

I had an ok experience at this restaurant this week. Nothing spectacular. We went as a party of 4 to celebrate my birthday during lunch time. Some of the things that werent great were: if you check out their menu online ahead of time (I usually do that) youll notice some of the grande piatti items and they sound great (I was excited to order one of them), however when you get to restaurant they are noted as dinner only (the online menu does not state that) which was a bummer. My carbonara was very salty - of course its supposed to be a salty plate, but I think it was a little saltier than normal. Also, the server was super kind and helpful, but I let her know twice that it was my birthday and she did not seem to care much; at dessert time, she brought the menu asking if I wanted the in house or something else - I would expect she would bring the in house option without asking, as a nice surprise for the experience. The environment is a bit loud so not a calm atmosphere to chat, though its a beautiful place. The entree (pork) comes with 4 small pieces, so not really something to share with your party as advertised in the menu. Finally, to be fair, my friends did enjoy their meals a lot (they ordered the Linguine Romantina).

Been enjoying this restaurant since 2010. Came back for a quick dinner last night and did not receive a warm welcome from the hostess. Maybe because my wife and I were too casually dressed or maybe because we did not have a reservation but despite the rough start, our waitress and the food made up for it. I would still come back to dine here, I just hope whoever is greeting us at the door would show some more enthusiasm despite what we happen to be wearing at the time or whether or not we have a reservation.

Amazing place. We loved the food, ambience and service. Servers were so friendly and welcoming. We had the pizza Fontina and the linguine sorrentina. Both were delicious! Latte was the perfect end to our meal. Definitely worth a visit.

Arancini was wonderful and my pepperoni pizza the same. Linguine chicken was alright. Service was slow. You can expect some to look at you with judgy eyes. Was hilarious to witness that.

I give this restaurant a 4 star review. Its atmosphere is lovely. The food is fabulous. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Ive been here twice and both times food was soooooo good! The first time we went, the service felt rushed and we felt like an afterthought. I would say that we did not have a reservation and they squeezed us in so that was nice. The second time we went, we had a reservation and the service was wonderful. It was a little noisy at first but as it cleared out it got better. The food....I could eat all day long. Highly recommend the calamari, any pizza (literally), and tiramisu is a must!!! We will be going back to enjoy the patio!

One of the best place you should visit in Guelph. In the center of downtown. Excellent service ! Food is superb. Drinks also really good and cheaper than in other places. Interior is also a brilliant. And washrooms is really good with all you need inside. Highly recommended place for everyone.

our server suggested amazing items and my date ended up telling them I was a vegetarian after she suggested many meat based options and she just had a whole new list of things to suggest. super knowledgeable about the menu and attentive.

It s been a week and a half and I am still dreaming of the delicious burrata. Food was absolutely scrumptious, service was lovely and the outdoor patio where we sat was perfect. Would definitely recommend eating here.

I enjoyed a beautiful dinner with my daughter here recently. It was a last minute plan and we arrived without reservations but were quickly accommodated. We both had pizza and enjoyed it very much. Food prices are generally crazy right now IMHO but I found the pricing to be fair given the quality of meal we received. This place is a gem in Guelph.

The food was good. The fried calamari could have used a bit more seasoning. Our server was very nice. He made the visit very enjoyable.

Came here on a quiet Tuesday night for our anniversary dinner. The atmosphere was cozy and upscale, the service was great and the food was delicious. Everything was reasonably priced. I loved my gnocchi and my husband loved his bolognese. They gave us gelato for our anniversary. It was a wonderful meal and we will definitely be back. These sort of restaurants that serve genuinely good quality food in a sweet atmosphere are few and far between.

We were in Guelph and hungry. Saw the other reviews and thought we would try it. It was worth the visit. Service was really friendly and food was top notch. Reasonably priced too. Definitely would go back

My favourite place!! We drive from Brampton to enjoy the best pizza I have ever had!. Fantastic vegetarian options, just overall always a great dinner.

Service was excellent! Ambiance too. Calamari was extremely delicious and fresh. Octopus was charred a bit over.

Food is good overall. The pork belly and octopus are very small as shareable appetizers and are good but are lacking flavor, almost bland. 3/5 The pizza is good balanced flavors and great pizza dough. Service was super slow this time, and the atmosphere was ok.

I loved the food. I had their pasta and pizza over the 3 times I ve been and I loved both. Also I loved the crème brûlée which had a lemon taste in the cream and a good sugar crust on the top. The bread they give you is also very good with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip. Waiters and waitresses are very nice and friendly. Parking: There is no parking spots so you have to park on the street. Kid-friendliness: There is no kid menus.

It s so unfortunate as this used to be such a good restaurant years ago. The only thing worth noting is the mushroom risotto balls - they were quite good. The bruschetta was horrible, Tina s meatballs have really slipped and the caprese had little flavour and very little to offer besides a bowl of tomatoes. Very disappointing. Plus the atmosphere with the radio playing is never good for a restaurant of this calibre - it s something I would expect at Boston pizza. It s sad and I was embarrassed to have suggested this restaurant to my colleague.

Always a great restaurant to visit. The quality of the food and service is always top notch. There are gluten free options if you so require. This restaurant can get quite busy so make sure you plan accordingly.

I absolutely loved the spaghetti carbonara here. The vibe is perfect, and the staff were incredibly nice, even going the extra mile to give our friend a complimentary dessert for his birthday, which was a really nice gesture.

Ive had two lunch dates here so far and the food and service has been excellent... shout out to Heather who is an amazing server, attentive, great with recommendations and so warm and friendly, her enthusiasm makes you feel so welcome. The food is really good authentic Italian cuisine with just the right amount of special without being over the top and pretentious. Buon Gusto is the best restaurant Ive been to in Guelph to date!

Very elegant restaurant and spectacular service. I went to lunch with a client, and the restaurant experience did not disappoint. We had the Calamari Arrabbiata as an appetizer, and it was by far one of the best Calamari dishes I have ever had. Then we ordered a Margherita Pizza, and I added the hot honey drizzle, and it was amazing. My client had the pepperoni and mushrooms, and it too was delicious. They definitely dont hold back on the toppings. Pizzas were perfectly cooked and had great crust on them. I definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu.

I have been here many times and it always surprises me how amazing the food is!

Had a great lunch there however when as came with a toddler the associate who greeted us at the front was lackluster and didnt look pleased we brought a toddler. It was off putting, the server definitely made up for it and provided a great experience but better manners needed from the associate greeting clients.

Visiting Guelph from out of town and this restaurant was great! Cameron was our server and he was really hard working and did a great job. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and the vibes here are great. Food is pretty reasonably priced too. Really recommend the mushroom arancini and the wood fired pizzas. We tried the arugula prosciutto pizza and the buon gusto pizza and both were great. Parking: Not a lot of parking right in front of the restaurant, so would recommend parking on Cork Street which has 2-hour free parking.

The miele drogato is great

It was a fun experience eating midday and practically having the whole place to ourselves. I did get a little bit of resistance when I asked to move to the comfier bench seating, which was odd since the place was empty. Otherwise, friendly staff, good food.

This place was amazing! Came here for a lunch reservation, got some cocktails, split the bruschetta and tried a couple pizzas. Ordered the miele drogato and the pistachio pizza - both were fairly big and super flavorful! It s a pretty busy spot definitely recommend booking a table ahead, looking forward to coming back to try more from the menu!

One of the must stop places in Guelph! As an Italian you know when you ve found good quality Italian food and Buon Gusto definitely has it. The pizzas are phenomenal, the pastas are amazing, and the desserts are exceptional. Love the atmosphere, plus has very friendly staff. Food isn t too expensive either. Highly recommend Buon Gusto, especially if you re looking for a place to eat out with the family

We are on a trip the next day and the next day we anchored in this small trattoria, the food is perfect, both for children and for the more demanding ones! I recommend all five! The service provides advice and is devoted to customers! Everything authentically Italian! Enjoy your meal!

I have yet to be disappointed by this place. The food is consistently great, the service is warm and unassuming, and the wine list is impressive. During a time when its a luxury for most people to go out, this place is worth it.

Was expecting a lot better. Probably wont be coming back after our experience. Mushroom arancini was great. Pizza was good, but the dough was hard to cut into. Beet salad was disappointing. Id suggest not playing pop music in such a beautiful venue.

We were celebrating a family birthday. I order a gluten free dish, when they brought it out I confirmed that it was gluten free as it was identical to my daughters. They said oh sorry. I had to wait for my meal to be made while everyone finished their meals. While this happens sometimes and mistakes are made, they made knowledge of the mistake or inconvenience. That was the disappointing part.
