Called (twice) 7 hours in advance of when we wanted to eat, no answer, but their voicemail said not to leave a message asking for a reservation but instead to email. I emailed, no answer, then I showed up in person and they don t have a reservation for us. Said we needed to call instead of email. Are you kidding??? I said I did call and he just said I ll have to wait 30 mins at least. I ve heard great things about this place but this experience is not incentivizing me to come back.

A friendly local pub/restaurant with a menu full of delicious meals as well as standard pub fare like wings. Their desserts are always fantastic! The Fat Duck servers and bar staff are the best! Trivia night on Sundays is always fun!

Best thing about lunch here was $6 Creemores. Don t recommend the beer can Cobb salad. Bacon was dry and clearly cooked sometime ago.. barely any corn, and blue cheese?? Think not. Chicken was ok. Could have used some more fresh lettuce. Would not order this again. Wings were big, and ok, nothing spectacular. Halloumi salad looked decent. Overall left underwhelmed with the food, and felt it was overpriced for what you got . Wouldn t return.

One of our go-to places in Guelph. The steak and mushroom pie is so good and I highly recommend getting a roast chicken dish whenever they have it on the menu.

Wing night smacked. Creamah to start, and the wings had me wanting a second order. No wait to get a table around 8:00pm.

I had Nachos.told her I Didnt want jalapeno said I didnt like spicy. The order came with a sauce which was spicy and ruined my meal. I was able to eat a lot of it that the sauce wasnt on . Server should pay attention .my son and grandson were ok with food !!!!!

Super disappointed, had heard AMAZING things about this place and was met with the opposite experience. Food was undercooked to the point we were served pink chicken and after the fact we had to wait roughly half an hour for our bill to be brought to us. Super disappointing as I had higher expectations, the atmosphere was good and the food would have been good if it wasn t undercooked!

Sadly disappointed (and a little nervous) after reading all the great reviews. Ordered the chicken sandwich special and while the outside was tasty, I got to the center and it was still pink! They offered to remake it but I just wanted to leave after thinking about how much undercooked chicken I had just eaten. It took about half an hour to get the bill after that because our waitress just sort of disappeared, only going to her other tables. Was so looking forward to adding this to our regular list but now Im sitting here waiting to see if Im going to get sick. The fries were fantastic but between the undercooked food and the slow service, we wont be back.

I had a disappointing experience and there were clues that I should have listened to. First, I called and the answering machine suggested they wont return calls due to lack of staff. I understand the need to get the message across, but it didnt sit right with me. Second, I called about 30 minutes later and the person did not make me feel welcome at all. Again, I understand people can be busy but I was essentially pushed off the call as fast as possible. I should have listened to my intuition here. Lack of staff and a busy person answering my call to make a reservation were not good signs. I arrived with my family and we ordered two kids meals, a poutine and the large wings. The staff were very busy and didnt make us feel welcome. Our server seemed jaded and acted like she didnt want to be there. I have thoughts on why this was the case. The poutine had dry fries, very watery gravy and a small amount of cheese. The wings were also dry and a couple of them were very small. For the $26 price tag of 12 wings, I would expect each one to be the same size. My daughter liked the fish but hated the chips, so theres a minor plus. With all that said, it seems they are understaffed and it shows. I hope they figure things out but I wont be going back.

I ordered 2 pounds of take out wings and would not recommend these be purchased for take out. I have heard great reviews of this pub and their wings, but they were very hard to eat. I ate 2 wings out of the whole pound I got due to how rubbery they were and ended up throwing the rest out, my husband did the same. They tasted as if they had been cooked and left sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time, no heat to the wings, no crunch, very chewy, not fresh in any sense. The pub looks nice inside and was very busy so I trust they have good service / food as they have the crowd to show for it! Sadly we would not recommend them which is upsetting this was our experience as the many other reviews mention how delicious they were.

Went there for the wing night. The wings were rough and not fresh. My friend and I both had upset stomachs after. The sauce that came with the wings was not enough. The server brought some extra sauce on the side but charged us extra money without noticing us. Would not come back again.

We are here at least once a week. Great vibe and the best place to view big soccer games. Lots of TVs and the place is always packed. Best wings in Guelph-and half price on Tuesdays! Always great service and the food is too!

Went for my birthday dinner after seeing so many great reviews. We sat for 20 minutes before we were offered a drink , then after we ordered my drink was still never brought. I had to ask twice for it. It was way to dark for my liking , I couldnt see probably. Not my cup of tea.

Popped in alone while in town as it was a favorite when we lived in the area. I was happy to see that the menu still had some favorites and there was also several new items. Enjoyed my favorite local beer on the patio while shaded from the hot sun. Tried a new Haloumi salad which was fabulous! Great blend of flavors and perfect amount of dressing.

Finally came here after hearing great things around the neighbourhood.. Burger was crazy salty, steak and crab special was chewy and odd tasting, and cesar salad was gross. Fish and chip were okay, but for the price of everything I dont really understand the appeal. Staff was nice. Maybe its just a good place to have a beer and app.

English style pub with split between bar area and dining area. This spot is excellent for all types. You can bring your family here or come for a pint with your friends. Great spot to watch a sports game too if thats your jam! Vegetarian options: Their vegan noodle bowl is surprisingly great

For a sandwich and a beer I paid $34 after tax with tip. Just seems expensive for what the food was. The place has good bones and a nice staff but there is room for improvement. The menu might cater to too many cuisines. Id go to the basics and dial it in.

Friday night Live music is great. Good beer selection. Everything on the menu is excellent. The chicken wings are the best in the world, no joke. They have some unique flavours too. The Hot Butter and the Vindaloo are a must try.

Shame the Lamb Pie is not longer on the menu...it was the best tho the steak and mushroom is great too. This place is my Go-To place for its strong and talented kitchen, pleasant servers and quieter alcoves to eat in away from the bar, which is a great place when you want to be there, but for conversation the separate seating area is ideal. Outdoor patio good too. HOWEVER ... in winter? The fireplace at the quieter but chillier back section reeeeeelllly needs to be repaired so it functions. Please!

Neighborhood Gastro Pub in Guelph CA. Irish pub atmosphere. Menu is not super long, but what is there is different from what is usual pub faire. There are some Indian curry dishes. Some Mexican Nachos dishes. And Irish dishes. I had the bangers and mash. Excellent, creamy mash potatoes, two large sausage links, and roast carrots. I have had this dish in other restaurants but this was the best. Full bar drink menu all the usual liquors. On tap beers, not huge selection but some I had not heard of. Overall nice experience.

We were so disappointed about the food here. I got a burger and fries, The burger was very mediocre, the fries were soggy and bland. My partner got bangers and Mash, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were boxed and the gravy was gross. Hopefully they replace the chef and do a full makeover on the menu.

Really delicious meal! We got a phenomenal appetizer feature (burrata!), three wonderful entrees (steak and mushroom pie, and two features: shepherds pie and short rib tagliatelle), and side ceasar and chefs salads. Everything was really, really tasty! Make you sure you check out the features menu, as we certainly found some gems! Cant wait to go back!!

Took three bites of my poutine. they have the saltiest poutine in the world, I don t know what they did, but they poured the whole bag of salt in it I do not recommend getting to Poutine please stay away from that Waste of 15 dollars

Exceptional onion rings on feature that night - I know, kinda niche but they were awesome. We ended up having two orders. If they take the time to do the onion rings well then naught but good things can follow!!!

First time here. We have tried the restaurants in the vicinity. We went for the mussels but we were told we usually run out on Sundays! So our go to appetizer then was nachos but the only meat option were chipotle pulled pork or vegeterian. So we skipped the appetizers (because I avoid spicy) and ordered from the menu and the features board. I ordered a bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes and peas and my husband ordered shitake mushrooms gnocchi with garlic seasoned breadcrumbs. My meatloaf came smothered in a very spicy bbq sauce and not a traditional tomato sauce with mashed potatoes that were drowning in au jus gravy as were some of my herbed peas. When I ordered I was not informed of this spicy BBQ Sauce nor was it noted on the featured board. Server said she just writes what the chefs tell them to. And that there was 2 au jus sauces on my plate; which was incorrect one au jus one BBQ sauce. I told her this and she seemed annoyed by it. But not her fault, the kitchen communication was not at 100%. My husbands gnocchi was good portion and seasoned well but the 2 huge garlic cloves that were not fully cooked were a bit surprising yet easy to spot and push away! So to get my meal right.... They brought me a burger (non spicy) with condiments on the side as requested. That was good substitution but I had to wait for it while my husband finished his meal. Our server Jannelle did everything right just the kitchen staff let her down We plan on coming back to see if this was a one off situation. We explained to her that this was not her fault but the back of the houses for lack of communication. As well we gave her a personal tip) This was not the experience we expected after reading all these reviews. When we do come back, we will call ahead and ask for our server by name: Jannelle.And hopefully we can give you a different review from our experience. Thank you. Staff went above and beyond with us at our visit. Something went wrong with our food order so they ended up comping us most of our bill. The food was incredible and the environment was nice.

Gastro pub my arse. Took the kids, their portions were the same size if not larger than my own. Server tried to tell us that that was how it was. Basically had an average kids fish and chips / school dinner for $20. If you are going to call yourself a gastro pub, make the food worth writing about. Having said that, decent portions if you are under 12.

Fun pub experience with quality pub fare and some interesting twists.

Good food, quick service, great atmosphere. Absolute perfection. Nothing to critique; a must visit if youre in Guelph. I had the Lobster and Shrimp Risotto (a special). It tasted great, and the portions were good. My sister had the Lasagna Bolognese (a special). Looked great, and she enjoyed it. It also came with a Caesar salad, and she enjoyed it despite typically disliking Caesar salad dressing. The other dishes were also really good; fish & chips and another dish that Im currently forgetting. Everyone left the restaurant feeling full and being fully content with the meal they ate. As I said, 100% recommended.

Beautiful day to eat outside on the patio. Light lunch. Great food. Quick service. Ordered smaller 6 wings vs. larger portion. Waitress was very attentive, and the order was correct. Washrooms clean. Always love coming here and the food is great. However, my last time here, we were greeted (if you can even call it that) by one of the bartenders who didnt even say hello. She just said bar or dining room. Once we said bar, she essentially threw menus at us and gave us zero guidance on where to sit. If I was the owner of this business, and I had an employee that greeted customers like this, they would no longer be an employee. Made us feel unwelcome and unfortunately sort of ruined the experience. Might be a while before coming back.

Blows my mind how this place is rated 4.5 stars. I visited a couple of weeks ago. First of all, they came around and brought water after being seated. No one came to take our order for a solid 20 minutes or came and filled the water. Finally managed to get someone to place an order but had to wave them back to ask for water refills. Thats ok, no big deal. Finally placed an order and it took another 30+ min to get which was surprising because it was dead. I ordered the poutine and it has to be the worst Ive had anywhere. Not to mention the prices here are on the higher end for what you get, $15 for a horrible poutine with almost no cheese and gravy. The fries were very overcooked, half were no good. I thought the smaller menu would mean better quality food but was I wrong. Again, no one ever came to refill drinks or ask about anything.

I would absolutely recommend this place. We ordered 1 appetizer and it was enough to feed us both and then some! We were going to order more, but the portion sizing was incredible. The food was delicious, presently nicely, and the service was very quick. We only spent $33 and wow! It is worth it!

There for Father s Day meal. Been frequenting the Fat Duck for years. After waiting for our food for one hour and our drink glasses empty and not offered water we stopped the waitress walking by to ask if food was coming. She gave us a kirt comment we are busy . At this point we left. Sad this happened, and we ll not be returning.

We love the Fat Duck and visit regularly. This visit we had a meal with friends & then friends of theirs appeared! Our server Talia didnt skip a beat to moving us & our drinks to a bigger booth. She checked in regularly and was super friendly & upbeat! Most of our group had one of the meat pies, which are their specialty. I tried the pasta with tiger shrimp for a change & it didnt disappoint. The Duck is fantastic for drinks, a snack or a complete meal.

We went there today and we had a great experience. We had fish and chips, steak and mushroom pie and mussels and everything tasted amazing. Our server, Sam, was extremely knowledgeable and kind, we sat on the patio as we had our Lab along with us and Sam was very thoughtful to bring right away a bowl of fresh water for our dog and always had a handful of treats for him. We will for sure go back! Dietary restrictions: There are gluten free options in the menu. Kid-friendliness: There s a kid menu although our 11 y.o. is much happier with adult food than the kids option.

Went to this establishment last night with my friends. Hands down the best customer service I ve experienced at any pub. The management and workers treated us like family and the food and refreshments were amazing. Will 100% be returning and I recommend anyone who lives in Guelph or who is travelling to Guelph to come here for a night out, lunch or dinner or to watch a game!

Favourite place to eat in Guelph! Best wings in the area and GTA. Sauces use real butter and flavourful. They have thoughtful weekly features ranging from shawarma plates, curries, pasta and ramen. Portions are filling and generous. Almost everything s house made. Highly recommend the new duck stroganoff on the menu! Wing night on Tuesday s(Hot butter, Vindaloo, Sweet Jerry sauces are king) & Pie night in Wednesday s. Drink deals are great too Service is always kind and helpful though some days they can seem short staffed. Highly recommend

Great pub atmosphere, with amazing, tasty food in great portions all served with friendly, cheerful knowledgeable staff. The mozzarella stocks were By Far the largest I ever had, and the warmed marinara sauce added to the deliciousness. The curry was delicious and the roasted chicken salad is a meal on its own. So good!!!

I don t usually take the time out to write a review like this but I feel like last night makes it worthwhile. We had made reservations as a celebration of life of sorts for my late friends birthday. It had been just over a year since his passing. This was one of his favourite pubs in Guelph, and we came here often on Tuesdays for wings and a couple pints. Our server Chelsea (like the football team) offered a lovely experience, genuine banter, and was the best server experience I ve had in a while.I hope this review finds her so she knows she went above and beyond for us and our late friend Ben. Thanks Chelsea.

Fat Duck is a great neighborhood pub. Always busy on sports or events days. If you watch soccer or NFL this is a great spot. New menu is great and between classic pub dishes and some new ones like the Korean Noodle Bowl or Duck stroganoff, much improved overall. If you are looking for a pub with a classic feel and good atmosphere and good people, The Duck is where its at.

Overall this spot is mediocre at best. Service and atmosphere are both fairly inviting, giving off that feel of a cozy UK pub with the decor to match. The wait staff were all very welcoming, professional and patient, but seemed to lack some information about the food on the menu or the specials. I ended up ordering the Curry Chicken Pie and was rather whelmed by the taste. The curry sauce was delicious, and the fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned, but the pie itself was a big red flag. Raw pastry in the crust, the filling was left in massive chunks that are impossible to eat without cutting them down, and the filling was completely tasteless. If it didnt have the sauce it would have been inedible. I had hoped one of their staple menu items would have been handled a bit better. Overall, it seems like a decent spot to gather with some friends for drinks, but I wouldnt expect to have your mind blown by the food.

We had a fantastic meal! 3 of us shared a bowl of mussels and a bottle of wine. We all got one of the special, the elk burger. It was flavourful, lean, and juicy. I cant believe Ive never been here before. Im definitely coming back. Dietary restrictions: Accommodated my daughters gluten and dairy allergies.

A really great pub. I have not been there for quite a while be came to see the soccer match and some beers. The staff were excellent, food is good pub food (and would have got a 5 start but TBH it is not gourmet, just darn great). I will definately return and highly recommend it to people looking for a pub night. They have great daily specials on drinks and food.

We were there a while ago and my memory of this place is scarred. Food was underwhelming and service was horrific! After waiting for over an hour, we asked a guy (apparently a lead server, not the younger girl serving us) how much longer we would need to wait because we had to go somewhere, he turned around and scolded us by saying that people who had been waiting for an hour and a half didn t get their food yet and we would just have to wait! We would not go back to this place again.
