House made broths and noodle, great atmosphere and awesome decor. Delivery & Take out
I love the quaintness and authenticity of the Guelph location! The Ramen is always delicious. I was sad to see The Northerner Ramen has been taken off the menu but there are many other wonderful options to chose from.
Best ramen spot in Guelph hands down. The food is delicious, the portions are great for the price. The staff are friendly and I like how it’s in a small place. I’ve tried the other ramen spot in Guelph and I’ve got to say crafty ramen’s pricing and food are 100% better, the bowls are bigger and tastier. Thank you for the good soup!!!
After a long day on the road it was a perfect beyond ask fulfilling meal. We drove extra 90km for the ramen that felt like a warm hug in a bowl. The staff was cheerful and generous even this late in night. We are vegetarians and there are more than enough non-pretentious vegan options. The Halloween special ramen was a surprise in every elements of it. Spicy Negi was a perfect feel good ramen. We ordered Brussels sprouts, edamame and gyoza on side all of which were equally delicious. Every single dish had some surprising element that elevated the whole experience. If you like ramen, crafty ramen is your place to be! (especially if you are a vegetarian)
For the price you are getting a large quantity of food as well as good quality. The staff were so kind and offered good conversation. The ramen itself was packed with an abundance of flavour and they did not hold back on the meat like a lot of other places do.
5 star food, but service and atmosphere needs work. Very meh at best. Tiny place, we entered and were told we have to order at the front. But did not give us a menu or tell us where the menu was. We looked around and noticed them on the counter and had to reach around people to get one. Once we ordered our food and asked to pay, of course the screen is asking for a tip. We haven’t even sat down yet and have to decide if or how much to tip!? Unacceptable. Also, what if we decided not to tip.. how can anyone trust that nothing would be done to our food out of spite? Very poor practice. We were told water is self serve too. I cant be the only one that thought it was absurd. We went to eat outside and once done, it appeared we were expected to clean our own tables. What was the tip for? Taking our order at the front door? Wont be returning, don’t care if it’s the best ramen in the world.
Great service. The food is amazing. There is indoor seating as well as a patio. I would highly recommend "Meat lover 2.0".
This location of Crafty Ramen is a staple to us and never disappoints. We’ve brought friends here multiple times and everyone always leaves raving about the food. We love everything on the menu, but I always look forward to the Summer menu because of their unique options. The ingredients are always very fresh and flavours are innovative. They recently upgraded their patio which was a nice touch from previous years. Our food was so delicious we forgot to take a picture until we were almost done our meal. The staff at this location are always great as well. Blake and Rashad went above and beyond with how they greeted us, served the food, checked in on us while eating and again after we were finished eating. They really care about the guest and the quality of the food. Great food is definitely worth the hour drive for us, but the service we received this time around was exceptional and already has us planning our next visit.
Hamburger Gyoza is an absolute MUST, took me by surprise with how good it was Small bar style seating on the inside with a great atmosphere Menu has a lot of options and the price is extremely reasonable for the quantity. Got the Meat lovers 2.0 and left FULL, massive slab of pork belly, fried chicken, egg… crazy how much meat. The broth was great as well, I’d love to come by and try some more options next time I’m in the area
First time trying ramen, i would recommend this place. The food was good
Their food here is always so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the spicy negi chicken. It will hit the spot! If you are going to dine in just know that while there is not much seating, it is a very warm and cozy atmosphere.
Delicious food, great service and reasonable prices. Couldnt ask for more. Its our go-to for noodles Google requested edit - we were just there for dinner. It is head and shoulders above anything else in town thats similar! Great food, quick service, good atmosphere! Highly recommended
We love it here! Parking: We look around. Kid-friendliness: I will bring my grandchildren.
**FIRST OFF** Somehow these crafty folks were able to have my review removed. How shady! So how many negative reviews are you having taken down? This doesnt give a fair and honest representation of your guests experience. I used to eat here a lot. I went the other day and had a terrible experience. It was dead!! However, somehow they managed to mess up my order, serve me cold food, and make me wait a long time for that. I honestly thought it was new owners because the quality and experience was so sub par of what it used to be. But, I saw one of the old owners at one point, so I guess not. I called back to complain. They made a lot of excuses (but dont forget.....I was sitting at the counter and watched everything in your open kitchen go down). They ended up offering me a free ramen next time I come back. However, I would never set foot through the door of your business. I think you need to refocus and regroup. Perhaps you bit off more than you can chew by opening new locations and entering the meals to go market. Dont waste your money!!!
This my favorite Ramen restaurant. Its got really good selection of dishes and in good quantity too. Cute place. Definitely will be back !
Picked up takeout and had a great experience. So easy to order online and food was packaged well. Still hot when we got it home. Kid-friendliness: Ordered my 7 yo kids with chicken and he loved it!
The food was delicious and the service friendly and quick!
The Ramen was 10/10. Their house made hot sauce is unreal as well! Highly recommend.
The wait time is ridiculous. I was there 30 mins just waiting for my food. It wasn t even peak time. They told every person 5 mins but it s honestly 25-30. Very unprofessional.
I didn t lime ramen before but this restaurant got me into it. I really like the Spicy Chicken Tantanmen. Aqyushi was the one who served us our food and was very polite and it came fast too
Please come to Barrie
So delicious!
Went after work/class and we both had ramen that just really hit the spot. Served hot, fresh ingredients, noodles perfect. You can do add ons of other ingredients, but even just the base ramen dishes are hearty and filling. Great vibes and atmosphere, definitely echoes actual Japan ramen bars Ive been to. Would absolutely go back. Wheelchair accessibility: Narrow building, youd be able to order at the till, but all seating is barstool counter down the length of the grill.
I do feel like the quantity of meat was really good, but the soup base and overall experience of the food, was underwhelming. The service was whatever too, didnt accommodate or check in, but I dont even care about that the soup base was bland despite the dish looking very photogenic, beautiful, plentiful in terms of protein, just lacking flavor, personality. Kenzo is better, sorry.
Awesome food. Great menu selection which also accounts for dietary requirements. Service is always fast, friendly and efficient. My go to is the Spicy Meat Lover the broth has a great kick!! But you really can t go wrong with any of the selection.
Very good food would like indoor seating
Always great service, great tasty food and good prices.
great experience, nice broth flavors and nice tenderness of the noodles
Food
Been to most spots in guelph for ramen, and this one is by far the best. They have their flavour combos nailed down to a science at this point. Would highly recommend
Ordered the meat lovers ramen it is SO salty that it is inedible, and I like salt. Very disappointing. *UPDATE* I reached out to the owner as they requested below, well over a week ago, and no one has bothered to respond. So not only is their food terrible, their customer service is as well
What happened to my favorite restraunt? They forgot the egg and green onion I ordered and paid for. The Portions got smaller. The noodles are differant not the fresh ones. The B/Choy was all soggy. Too bad if the new management is to blame.
Love this place! Came here when it opened and loving how its grown over the years!
I don t like the idea of overly salted Chicken Yuzu Ramen (broth, specifically). Frankly, it was the saltiest soup I ve ever tried, and I eat a lot of soups. It was not healthy and barely edible. The chicken breast fillet, on the other hand, was not salted, spiced, or marinated at all, making it tasteless. Additionally, the chunks of chicken were too large to be bite-sized, so you had to bite a piece and then drop the rest back into the bowl. Was this soup supposed to be eaten with a knife? Overall, the dish was disjointed, with each ingredient standing alone and barely edible, rather than forming a cohesive composition.
Good atmosphere and welcoming staff. The food is consistently delicious and prepared quickly. Highly recommend !!! ps.. Im a regular
I ll be Generous and give you 5 Stars It was a treat from my Daughter She brought us Cheeseburger Gyoza and Mazeman Amazing Taste Amazing Ingredients Only thing I would fix is the Salt Cut Back Some Salt
Had Crafty Ramen again this past week and it was and is always so good!! Much appreciate this made from scratch, tasty ramen and other offerings. Thank you for being an excellent meal provider and helping keep the downtown alive with your offerings!! In my top 3 choices in Guelph. We will be back again very soon. Definitely add an egg to your Ramen!
The taste of food is very authentic japanese dish. The staffs are polite and nice especially Roshad. Great Experience
Personally, I think that was the lowest grade or Ramen that I have ever ate it in my life I could cook better Ramen at home Broth was pretty much flavorless Way too many greens onions There s nothing special about this Ramen at all Kenzo is better !
Food, customer service, accessibility of the menu and options available, cleanliness and pricing all excellent! Exceeded my expectations, thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will be back and share spot with friends :D
This place is great! I adore the ramen that they have here! The staff members are extremely kind. Definitely a great place to go to if youre in the area! Food
The pork belly was super tally with little meat , the noodle was undercooked by a lot, egg was cold, fish cake was terrible. The broth tasted like Campbells Beef Broth with soy sauce. Should have known it was going to be bad when it was being cooked by white guys.
Disappointed with my visit at Crafty Ramen. The bowl was served lukewarm, noodle was cold in the middle. The Soup base does not taste like it was made from bones (but powder) Noodles took 30min+ to arrive. Came based on the review, disappointed with my visit. Dietary restrictions: Offers Gluten free options
I took a takeout of vegan ramen. Every thing looked good, amazing i would say. But when i tasted it, taste was not good. The broth had something that overpowered everything. I couldnt finish it, had to throw it away. It felt some strong spice was added in more quantity. Noodles were good, the veggies and tofu was good. But the broth was bad. I did had the same ramen about a year ago i guess, it was edible at that time. Even better but this time, it was a big no. I was disapointed as it was not cheap. I had the fries. They were good. But the dip was less as it finished before even half of the fries were eaten. Initially i wanted to eat at restaurant but the lack of table space made me order a take out instead.
This restaurant offers gluten friendly noodles. If you truly have a gluten sensitivity or allergy, do not eat here! The broth is not gluten friendly, and you will get sick. Such a shame that they would offer gluten friendly , which is so misleading, just to upcharge their ramen. This is so irresponsible. When I called the restaurant, I was told that this is an option for gluten free by choice individuals. No apologies were offered, and I was basically told lesson learned. If you got sick, don t eat here again . Not cool Crafty Ramen not cool.
First time trying ramen ever and I was not disappointed! Tj suggested the Tokyo Salary man and it was fantastic. Great customer service all round !
The food was great and service from TJ was exemplary. Will definitely return next time Im in the area
Amazing broth! Need I say more ?
Ordered gyozas for a combo 3 times but they still missed it. We repeated it as it was clear that the staff member wasnt attending to us, this is fine, we just wanted our order to be right. She then proceeded to bring us our ramen and informed that she didnt enter the gyozas and therefore we couldnt have the combo. She did not take any accountability and wanted us to leave our hot meal to come inside again to pay for full priced gyozas. They were also out of all miso based dishes. Quality has deteriorated as of lately.
I had just moved to Guelph from Toronto and wanted to have some ramen. I purchased the spicy meat lover 2.0 and had it delivered. I live down the street, approximately a 2 minute walk to the restaurant and it came hot and ready to be served. The dish was not spicy at all and was rather quite sour, acidic and earthy. The toppings included (meat, marinated egg and mushrooms) were all extremely sweet when I took a bite. The noodles were also overcooked and broke down into the texture of baby food after a bite or two. The different meats were extremely chewy, sweet and dry. I tried to give the food a chance and each bite was a different combination of the toppings, broth and noodles. However, after 5 bites I had to stop as this was the worst dish and ramen I have ever eaten. I pride myself in not wasting food as I am a food lover but I had to throw it out. I thought I would give this business a try due to the reviews and limited food options in Guelph but never again. This experience has left me never wanting to eat out in the city again for local food (I put quotation marks as this is a franchised business). I went back to the restaurant last evening to ask for a recommendation of a popular dish. I did want to give the place another chance. Except, since I woke up this morning, I have had the worst food poisoning experience of my life thus far. I can still taste the sweet but sour broth as the food poisoning takes its course and I genuinely will never go back. The food was atrocious to the extent that I have posted on social media about my experience to friends and family about the meal (last night). Surprisingly, many people have responded to the post agreeing that it is the most disgusting ramen they ve ever had. Luckily, I was one of few that got blessed with the aftermath of food poisoning. Please, if you genuinely like ramen and have had good quality Japanese food, save your time, palette and digestive system. I m still recovering and currently sitting by my loo as I type this review (and I NEVER review food locations unless it s bad, fortunately this was my first time needing to).
5/5 experience. Really authentic flavours and good quality. Def recommend to anyone in area
Visited here recently and Ive got to say that they make really really good food here. Very central location and easy to get to. The staff were really friendly and it was fun to sit at the bar and see them prepare everything from scratch. It was pretty well priced in my opinion considering its all made pretty fresh. It was really hot the day I went here and it was really cool inside despite having the kitchen in the middle of the room. Would come again!
The food is usually really good but it was so hot when I went in this week that I felt sorry for the employees. Man there was no air conditioning and it must have been over 40. Are there no laws about heat in workplaces in Ontario? Do better.
Awesome place, great vibes and incredible food. Rashod is a legend and makes the best ramen in guelph. Gotta try the chicken tantamin and the Tokyo salaryman and the gryphon
Unique broths and very high quality ingredients. You have the try the marinated egg, its the best Ive ever had and Ive been to Japan!
Great food and good atmosphere. Parking: busy parking during lunch time on weekend. Food : 4/5 |
I would drive to Guelph for this ramen, any time. By far the best ramen we ve had in Ontario and several amazing, delicious, vegan options. They also have a selection of yummy Japanese beers for purchase. We tried the mapo tofu (chefs kiss, this was out of this world) the gyoza and the karage (not vegan, partner said it was unbelievable). Service was friendly, upbeat, and they were very helpful with the menu. It was also fast, which was nice. Bar top seating where you can watch the food being made. Comfy, and more spacious then you d expect for bar seating. It s a small shop but busy. Clearly a local hotspot. Vegetarian options: Vegan options available - add an egg. Now it s vegetarian. Dietary restrictions: Vegan options available and clearly labelled. Parking: Parking is a challenge, expect to park a distance away and walk in, or pay for a parkade. Wheelchair accessibility: One regular table at the back which would be the right height and there s enough room to navigate a wheelchair but that s about it. Bathrooms are inaccessible.
Love the ramen, best in the city, and reasonable prices.
Everything was very flavourful and delicious. Just wish I had more noodles to keep eating
Best Ramen Ive had yet! Definitely will return to try some more items! Great quality, quick service, awesome employees ! Make this a place you stop and try!
Outside of Japan Ramen as in Japan. Prepared by a chef with 10 years of experience in Japan. Simply delicious
Place has gone downhill, food quantity not worth $25
Love Crafty soooo much! In house is the best, obviously, but delivery is great too! My only request is that the last 3 or so times Ive ordered via delivery there were no provided chopsticks. There is nowhere to request cutlery on delivery app, so if you do not add them in by default please rectify this and add the option to request on UberEats!
Crafty Ramen used to be the absolute best and authentic ramen you could get. I m not sure if it was securing a deal on dragons den or what, but their noodles are the exact opposite of what they used to be and the chicken broth has almost no flavor now. No matter what dish I try it has gone completely down hill. I would order from them all the time but after the last few, you ve lost me as a customer.
Was very excited. Dumplings were fantastic. Korean fried chicken was amazing. But the noodles fell flat .No flavor no richness absolutely no salt the noodles poor quality
Unique choices of ramen, great selections. It s on the pricy end but it s by far the best ramen Guelph has.
Rashod and the rest of the team were amazing! They had great food, and you can tell they know what they re doing! Such a great experience here :) Highly recommended!
The food is delicious!
Please do not order from here. The noodles are that of the ones you buy at the store for a buck. I wanted ramen, but I got Mr. Noodles with a piece of defrosted pork drenched in soya sauce. I have had much better ramen, with real good quality noodles back in Toronto. They can only get away with it by being the only ramen place in Guelph. Maybe if they used real noodles they would be better, but they dont. They use cheap noodles. I could tell because when I picked them up with my chopsticks, it looked like the brick of noodles. I got the Kaizen Ramen, but it was not worth $16 when the ingredients were obviously so low quality. I eventually got a stomach ache later. I hadnt eaten in 2 days, and I was so excited. I wasnt mad, I was just disappointed that for the price, the quality didnt reflect the ramen. It wasnt so good.
Traveled from Barrie for it.
Decent ramen place in town. I would recommend you try Hit Chicken tantanmen.
I love the design wall so much. Chef told me that their chicken broth is bone broth. It s good to know that this ramen shop makes everything from scratch, not like using broth concentrate. I went there with my friend, she is vegetarian. There are so many options for her as well and she was so happy. This place has great options for both meats and vegetarian. Vegetarian options: 40% menu are vegetarian options
been coming here for five years my favourite spot in Guelph
Unreal, authentic, creative. An outstanding restaurant with amazing staff! The food was amazing and the service was even better. You will not be disappointed with this ramen and will be dying to come again!
Wish I could give 0 rating.
Should I be dying, this is the food I would have served as both my last meal and at my funeral. We travel 2+ hours just to eat here. This ramen will change your life and spirituality. Everyone needs to experience crafty ramen atleast once in their life. This place is magic and the food the magic
Best food and service Ive had in my life
Been coming here quite frequently since starting school at the university. One of my first times I ate here an employee was also in one his first shifts. Despite that and learning in a fast paced environment, he always kept a positive attitude and a lighthearted attitude. Flashing forward to nos, he has been working for over a year at crafty ramen and still is able to recognize me, despite not eating here for at least a month. He is always willing for a chat and is a wicked cook Keep up the hard work Rashod!
I d probably say the interior and the vibe is the best place, but the food is great too. Looking at live cooking of food is also an amazing experience
This place is unique and stands out because they make everything in house. The service is amazing, the staff are so friendly, and the food is always 10/10. I recommended the Gyphon, the Spicy Chicken Tantanmen (pictured) and the Korean Fried Chicken that has a sauce I could literally drink. Thank you for being our go-to spot in town! Dietary restrictions: They don t use nuts or shellfish Kid-friendliness: They have a build your own kids bowl small or large, perfect for picky kids
Really good ramen and gyoza.
Please let me add more sundried tomato s to my ramen, why is this not an option? I will pay more for extras. spicy negi has remained my fav for years, and crafty is the best ramen in Guelph. I dined in once and the lady gave me a whole bowl of extra sun dried tomatoes for free 10/10 and extra tips for her. But when ordering at the counter end online it s not an option to add more. Parking: Parking in downtown sucks
Excellent ramen, we had the kaizen warrior and spicy chicken. They were very accommodating and welcoming especially with my friend s toddler.
It s the worse ramen ever tried. The soup was very salty and the corns were burnt . No next time !
I just had the Oni Chicken at Crafty Ramen. Crafty Ramen is right. They practice the dark arts and spun up spells to make my noodles taste like heaven on earth. The chicken was spicey enough to make me say ooo damn that hot but subtle enough for me to still feel as though I was walking through the garden with Adam and Eve, feasting on that delicious juicy ramen.
Crafty has never failed to be filling and delicious. Sitting at the dine in bar is a lovely experience where you can feel like youre in the kitchen itself. Sean made our dishes perfectly, and everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great spot to hit up in Guelph for Ramen and the experience.
Beware if you order delivery. They completely forgot the broth for both of our ramen orders, ruined the whole dinner
Amazing ramen, great service. Will be getting again.
Gave crafty ramen a second try properly this time. We went in person, sat down in the cute shop, and ate their. We got the karage, korean fried chicken, watermelon jalapeño popsicle, and meat lover 2.0 ramen. The food was great! Eating in person is the way to go. The staff was super friendly, asking us if we were enjoying the food, and making conversation. The food fresh was amazing, so juicy and crispy. The ramen was outstanding. The texture of the noodles were perfect, the pork was so soft and tender. They torch the meat and it s so cool and crispy but soft! The broth was a perfect miso flavour and you should add some chilli oil in it too! The popsicle was light, fresh, and refreshing. A great way to end the meal. The washroom was also really cute!
If you re looking for a cozy bowl of ramen in Guelph look no further! The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are super friendly and attentive~
We absolutely love Crafty Ramen! The atmosphere of eating in is so fun, we enjoy that we can chat with the staff while they are cooking and prepping and get to watch them work as well.
Great food, lovely vibes inside!
We wanted to love this place so much. The other reviews say it is a stellar ramen shop but it was far from it. The dumplings were an oil slick and the ramen was served barely warm (also oily and flavourless). In all my years of eating ramen, this was the only bowl I could not finish (and I ve had questionable instant ones). The service was as lukewarm as the the ramen. The beers were cold but otherwise will not be returning and do not recommend.
Very small restaurant with self service. Ordered Spicy Tantan and Tokyo Salaryman. They were better than my expectation, was pretty good.
decent ramen. the broth is nice. not a major fan of the noodles but for Guelph its ok.
This place has fallen apart! It used to be very good but today it was terrible. My noodles were not cooked, literally raw on the inside! I felt terrible for the staff. They were stressed out, running out of ingredients, equipment malfunctioning. It clearly wasnt their fault. I think CR are doing too many things and the quality suffered. What a shame. $80 for three ppl. I wont be going back.
Best Ramen in town
Belly up at the bar and eat some good ramen. One of the better dining experiences in Guelph. ~$20 for a bowl
I ordered the Meat Lovers 2.0 and some pork gyoza (pictured here already half eaten) to go. True to its name, the Meat Lovers is loaded with meat, pork in multiple styles and some fried chicken, all cooked to a perfect tenderness. Broth is warm, savory and delicious (and easy to warm back up if it cools off en route home) Definitely good if you dont like spicy food, though mind the egg as all the spice is crammed right into there. A big, filling helping of meat and noodles, perfect for a meal. The gyoza serving is perfect for a snack or side dish with 5 small pieces. Bite sized and chewy and delicious.
Ordered the Meat lovers bowl last night and got horrible food poisoning. Won t ever go back
lots of hype...overly spiced, average tasting, small potions and costly. never again.
Its taste soooo good but unfortunately for myself and many others it leads to horrible digestive pains
Sad to say but im turned off from Ramen for a while. Broth too oily, not enough broth in bowl, broth had little flavor. Noodle said thick on board, they were not. Mushrooms had no flavor. Chef was using phone while cooking, did not see individual wash hands after. Not a welcoming friendly environment. Uncomfortable space to eat, cant have a conversation, chefs are in your face. Put some music on or something. Food was too oily to finish. Going to Ramen places for the price you expect an high quality, flavourful bowl, unfortunetly they did not deliver.
The Tokyo salaryman was delicious!
Highly recommended. The corean chicken a d the kids pork ramen was off the chart.
Excellent Ramen. The best in Guelph, amazing noodles.
Ordered Meat Lovers, two toppings were cold, broth was luke warm. I was not impressed overall. Previous owners did a much better job at preparation.
Maybe taste depends on the individual? Hygiene is not good! The cups and other items are still dirty and I am self-service. Maybe miso tastes better than soy sauce? I think this taste would be quite delicious overseas.
I ve been wanting to try this place for such a long time and am regretting not going sooner ! Soo yummy and will be back for more . Had the spicy meat lover with an extra marinated egg (highly recommend) .
By far the best Ramen in Guelph and surrounding areas. You can eat here or take away. Simply delicious...very friendly service.
update, tried take home frozen version of northern miso and very good too. fast and friendly with many price points including $12.99 take home version (i bought one). tried the salary man pork version and gryphon with a lil less chili oil. ended up adding extra noods cuz gryphon was very spicy but yummy. salary man was very tasty too and sesame forward and rich broth, great for the rainy weather we had that day. cool atmosphere with clean funky bathrooms downstairs and seating is stools across from prep kitchen. cooks were friendly and asked about the spice level and taste experience. overall will return and try more dishes incl. fried chicken and gyoza. will update once Ive tried take home box of pork miso ramen.
Fantastic
The only ramen place I can rely on and go to everytime I am in Guelph. This is one of the best ramen place in the region. Everything about this place from service to food is just perfect and what you need out of a ramen restaurant. Spice level varies from one dish to another but the one I had was tantanmen which hit the spot for me. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try ramen and just fall in love with it.
Solid choice for hot, potentially spicy ramen that fills your belly and leaves you completely satisfied. Just wish they had more seating!
Tried crafty ramen for the first time last night and was shocked by how good it was. I got the pork kaizen warrior ramen and it was 10/10. Will be ordering again, and soon!
We ordered the two noodles and waited quite a long time before they came out. They are really salty. Left Oni chicken (spicy). Right the big smoke (pork).
Really bad food. The place looks nice and cozy but the food is really REALLY disappointing.
Looks like they bought their reviews because food isnt good at all.
Sorely disappointed. Ive wanted to try Crafty Ramen for weeks but never really had the time to do so... Ill say that the staff seem great. Service was quick and they helped with decisions, though the food is definitely sub-par. Maybe serve the ramen hot instead of lukewarm? That would go a long way...
My first time having ramen and it was terrible. The noodles were not fresh broth was salty we also ordered the dumplings and they were burnt and the dipping Sauce was salty do not recommend
Best vegan options! Make a reso!!! Food
I really enjoyed this place! They have a good selection of ramen bowls, but I definitely recommend getting one of their fried chicken sides. Price was about 16$ for a big bowl. I definitely recommend the dine in experience. Sitting up at the bar top was actually pretty comfortable! Id love to come back for a few drinks and some ramen soon. I wouldnt recommend this place for young kids unless youre doing takeout. Just between the size of the place, seating style, the spices / flavors, and Atmosphere.
I really wish this hadn t happened, but during the dinner rush, the chef went on his iPhone (in front of dining customers) and stayed there for a few minutes. Upon finishing, he picked up a handful of noodles and threw them in the pot of boiling water. Then, he went back to the cutting board. No hand washing whatsoever. Due to this serious overlook, I won t be going back. It s an inexcusable oversight when handling food. Hygiene is paramount.
Was my first time trying ramen . Had northern warmer, it was so delicious and flavourful.
Good Ramen, service could be better, if you have already ordered your dish, paid and are eating but then you order something to go while you are still eating, crafty shouldn t make you HAVE to get up to make a payment before it s confirmed. Having to chew you food that you were still eating at the restaurant and making a payment is rather strange, but I guess that s Policy TRIUMPHS over customer service lol.
Different taste from my first experience. But my stomach still cant handle it just the same. Broth too oily? Pork too fatty? I do enjoy it but its the only ramen that wrecks me.
They do not know real ramen
Ramen was one of those things I thought was too hyped up. Ive had Ramen in toronto and it wasnt that flavourful. However, I stopped by this place by chance and ordered the toyko bowl and was super pleased with my meal. Now I understand the hype. A good bowl of Ramen is hard to pass up. Theyre so busy so make sure you give them lots of time in advance. Theres this one girl there who was absolutely killing it doing 5 jobs at once. Make sure you tip well and Come back for more !
We have loved crafty ramen for years. The food was always to die for, the service is impeccable. The owners are such great people. We were just a little disappointed with the food last time we went. They have been changing things up too fast for our accustomed taste buds. We go in looking for the same flavours and textures as always and didn t find that this time. We both got the vegan spicy negi. Their noodles are now thicker and more chewy than their previous thin ones that absorbed flavour much better. The sesame crusted tofu had no flavour this time, probably wasn t marinated long enough or cooked wrong I am not sure. The noodles made a huge difference in the overall taste of the bowl. I hope they bring back the thin noodles, it s just not the same without those and the flavourful tofu.
The best ramen I ve ever had, anywhere. I ve been to Tokyo & compared. Still, Crafty is seriously that good. I look forward to every time I visit little old Guelph, & I can t wait to eat another bowl of Crafty Ramen. They also have several amazing vegan options - super vegan friendly. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie & vegan options available, in both the ramen dishes & side dishes. Parking: More than enough parking anytime of the week.
Loved it, actually turned me into a ramen lover!
I had the worst experience in this restaurant. It is not suitable eating in. The cashier is unfriendly.
We tried the gyphon today on Canadas day. The Miso based soup is very delicious, noodles perfectly cooked and like the charsiu. We also love the boiled marinated eggs. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
As I was traveling through Guelph and had some time to kill, I popped in here for dinner. I ordered the Seeker with a marinated egg, sat on the patio and really enjoyed a wonderful bowl of ramen. Workers were nice and the food was great, definitely recommend and will come back next time Im in town. :)
Visited Saturday evening for dine in, around 7pm. Ordered our food and sat at the bar. A group of 3 came in a few mins later and as they were ordering they were told it would be a 30 minute wait as it was busy. Okay, maybe we just missed the rush. Maybe 15 minutes later another group of 3 arrived and ordered for dine in and sat at the bar. This is where it went downhill! From roughly 7:15pm until 7:55pm (when we got our ramen) there were 8 people sitting at the bar, with no food watching the staff prep food for take out orders only. Very frustrating to watch this. At no point were we given an update or an apology for the long wait, we had to ask one of the chefs for an estimate and he told us 15 minutes. We received our food around 15/20 minutes later. This was just under and hour after we had put in our order. The group that ordered after us received their food first. While in the restaurant, a gentleman came in for pick up, he was told it would be another 15 mins, he had the option to wait or he could cancel his order according to the lady behind the counter (I believe she referred to herself as the manager). He said he would wait. About 20 mins later he asked for an update on his order and he was told it would be another 15 mins, the lady again told him he could cancel the order if he didn t want to wait. When he asked her to ask the chefs for an accurate estimate for his food she refused! Bizarre behaviour from a manager! At this point we had finished our meal and left, I hope he got his order! Overall, a very frustrating and strange experience, staff seemed overwhelmed by the amount of take out orders, there seemed to be no clear direction of how to deal with take out orders or dine in for that matter! Take out was definitely the priority it seemed. It wasn t all negative, when the food did arrive it was fantastic, nice portions and very tasty. The restaurant itself was very clean.
After seeing the reviews, I thought it would be a nice place to stop and eat. Ramen tasted bad, the pork tasted off. Nice little spot, shame about the food. One of the members of staff wasnt particularly nice to the other, so it was a little awkward.
Food was delicious, had some nice warm and spicy ramen vegan noodles with cream soda. Little cramp inside but the service was awesome, good recommendation.
The best ramen I ve ever tried. It s so good I really enjoyed it and the people there are so nice!
Lovely place, yummy noodles, friendly staff, in one word, superb! So thankful we found it in this cool summer night, made our day perfect.
I ve picked up from here several times. Loved it!
Came here for lunch and enjoyed our meal on the patio. I was looking for vegetarian options and was pleasantly surprised at not only the options available but also how flavourful the vegan broth is. We started with the marinated edamame which was absolutely mouthwatering. I had the vegan salary man ramen and the tofu was so flavourful, the broth rich, the noodles tender and flavourful. Will definitely come back. Vegetarian options: Several vegan options available and the broth is really flavourful.
Weve tried numerous things on the menu, everything is so good. One of our favourite spots in Guelph!!
The Shio ramen with tofu (Tokyo Salaryman) was subpar. The tofu was too salty that I couldn t even finish. The miso ramen was just ok. The atmosphere was also ok, but it s so hot and humid inside during the summer. The chicken karaage was not bad but the sauce that comes with it was kind of off as it doesn t go along well. Feels like you re having American chipotle dressing on Japanese food.
Arguably one of the best Ramen restaurants in the KW and Guelph area. Ive come here several times in the last 5 years and the food has been delicious and exceptionally consistent. They have not tried to cut any corners and water down the flavors to become more mainstream but have maintained their authenticity throughout the years. The restaurant itself has a quaint and cozy feel with an open kitchen that adds to its charm. It does get a bit hot in the summer although they do have patios. One of my favorite restaurants!
Our first and last time here. A 40-minute order took more than an hour. Appetizers were overdone, served late. No apologies for the wait whatsoever. Karage was too salty. Ramen was almost lukewarm. Disappointing experience.
The order took a long time, despite there not being a lengthy line of orders. The food was just okay, nothing spectacular enough for us to consider coming back. We were very excited to try the food, but it took at least an hour of waiting. The karaage chicken was even overcooked, and the ramen was not exciting at all.
I always frequent this spot if I am visiting Guelph. Its not that expensive for the portions. It wasnt as delicious in the warm weather. Noodle soup is a hearty fall meal in my experience.
great owners, very kind people and great food
Pretty well what you would expect with decent food and good service.
I was there twice, first near they started the business and last was couple weeks ago. It was amazingly good when I visited the first time, inside was packed with people, staff were nice and friendly, soup had rich taste, ramen had good texture, Japanese style chicken was tasty. However, when I was there couple weeks ago during lunch hours, restaurant atmosphere was cold, all I can remember was loud music (I actually had tinnitus for a few days after visiting there). The whole experience was like sitting in a food court. What I had the most complaint was that their soup became extremely salty, though still rich, not recommended for people having high blood pressure. Luckily they had free water. Though ramen remained good more or less, and chicken (pork belly as well) are still delicious.
The ramen has the texture of soba noodles
Delicious! During the summer they have a patio so it was nice to enjoy great food outside.
Ordered take-out. Showed up early and was told my order would be ready at 7pm. Came back at 7pm and order wasnt ready until 7:15pm. Food was delicious so all-on-all it was worth the wait.
This is the best Ramen shop in all of Guelph! Sitting at the ramen bar and watching the chefs put everything together is such a wonderful experience! All of their soups are incredible and I couldn t recommend it enough.
Cute place with good food.
2023, 5 years later and the food is still superior here! They no longer have the Beef Cheeks(please come back!) but they have and are constantly adding new additions to their menu! The Fries are a Mean go to!! CR has been on my radar for sometime now and I ve just recently got some takeout so the verdict is in....DeliCiOUs!! Great menu selection. I tried the Korean Fried Beef Cheeks (pics included) and the Spicy Negi Chicken both of which were incredibly tasty and spiced just right. I will definitely go back to try some of there other offerings and hopefully get a chance to sit in and eat as the restaurant itself is quite charming and had a very welcoming environment! Cheers Crafty!!
Unfortunately a recent menu change has gotten rid of a favourite that we came here for and that sold out regularily, the salt and vinegar edamame. BE WARNED: The edamame is now served in a gloop of oniony vegan mayo and you have to suck the mayo off to get the beans out of the shells. If you like eating mayo straight from the jar or licking it off of other foods before you eat those foods then you might like this. I couldnt even eat it. The vinegar edamame was genius and should be brought back. This place is a favourite restraunt of ours for years and we have come here a lot. It is inconsistant depending on who is working. The food is complex and handmade and some variability is nice but sometimes an element is really off like noodles squished into a clump that is uncooked in the middle, tomato mashed into paste or tofu marinated until it is too salty to eat. When this has happened to us the food has been replaced quickly and with good grace but sending food back sucks. I think because of the complexity of assembling each bowl you now cant switch out one protein for another anymore, unfortunate for anyone who has dietary restrictions such as needing to avoid pork or dificulty digesting a lot of fat at once.
Came on a weekend afternoon 3pm, still reasonably busy. Took the kitchen quite awhile to get our 4 ramen dishes made. I tried the Big City Smoke - nice fatty piece of pork that they sear with a blow torch, ramen itself was just ok, but the soup base was way too thick to the point where I just wanted to add more hot water to dilute it down a bit to make it more palatable. I didnt really sense much smoke to it. My wife had the Dragons Breathe, but it really wasnt that spicy enough. Service was fine but not enough clean glasses for us to drink water from. Overall just ok ramen, but keep in mind our standard is set quite high after returning from a trip to Japan 6 months ago.
Feels like a well kept secret. Eating at the bar lends it that street food feeling. Broths are on point, and everyone loves a marinade jammy egg! Vegetarian options: You can start with a kid bowl (big or regular) and just add safe toppings to make your own friendly meal.
During the pandemic we got hooked on the ramen kits from Crafty Ramen. It was our Friday night treat, and we kept it going for a while. The flavours were amazing and we made cooking everything as a family activity. All components arrived individually which allowed us to mix and match to create new bowls. Recently we received a kit, but to our surprise most of everything was prepackaged. This was a huge bummer since we could not customize our bowls by changing the spice levels or change things up like we used to. The ritual of prepping the food was completely gone. It felt about the same as putting a frozen pizza in the oven. The portions used to last us two meals, but the new packaging was about half of what we used to get. I hope that there is an option to bring back the classic kits. I havent lost hope yet
Its a quaint like restaurant that can be a quaint little spot, but gets lively in no time. I love how spice it can get, most places dont over that much of a option.
Tonight I brought my husband along with me so that he could try ramen for the first time. The atmosphere was so welcoming and Molly (i think was her name) was super friendly. My husband got The Big Smoke and loved it! He was so happy and thanked me for pushing him to try it. I got the Chicken tan tan and it was delicious, as always! By far my favourite Ramen shop.
Pretty good food. They have vegan options. Great vibe. Vegetarian options: Vegan options Dietary restrictions: Vegan options Parking: Easy find Kid-friendliness: Yes. Kid can go Wheelchair accessibility: No really.
Such a cute little ramen shop with a cozy vibe. :)
If you are vegan or vegetarian , this is the place to go. Good ramen but felt like they can add more soup to the bowl The kitchen people 10/10 Dietary restrictions: Full vegan app and ramen menu
So good. So good that it s hard to not order from here every week! My wife, kids, and I all love this spot. I ve had a couple of different things here but my absolute favourite is definitely the Gryphon. They re decently quick for order and pickup and the shop is small but very nice inside. I ve never actually sat down to eat here before. I highly recommend trying the food here!
Poor service and disrespectful employees
This is the worst ramen Ive ever eaten in my life. DO NOT COME HERE. NO AUTHENTIC JAPANESE FLAVORS AT ALL. Any four or five star review is an absolute lie. The broth has no taste or spices. It tastes like soy sauce with water and sesame seeds. Absolutely horrible. This meal was so disappointing.
Just Wow. We ordered through skip the dishes. The broth was amazing, the noodles out of this world. They packed chopsticks, spoons, and the dishes were all recyclable. We ordered for our family visiting from Vancouver.. a d it was a total hit! We got Vegan and Regular options. Amazing!
We got 2 different ramen and karaage, everything was delicious and the service was fantastic, everyone was nice and friendly. Fantastic place to eat.
Ive been here before a few years ago and had great ramen so thought Id try it again. I must have gotten an off day because the ramen wasnt what I remembered. I had the Mapo Tofu and the broth was terrible. It tasted simultaneously sour, burnt and watery. No spice at all despite it being rated 4 chilis. The noodles were soggy and the tofu was inedible. I ended up not eating it because it made me nauseous. Im really hoping it was just a one off bad ramen. The Gyoza are good but they must use an old pan.The taste was off and they were really greasy.
Great food!
Awesome food, cheerful service. Will definitely recommand.
Super delicious Ramen in a great little place downtown. We dined in. Not much space at the bar but probably worth the wait instead of take out.
I was a customer for over a year throught the subscription. My family and I were always looking forward to our monthly delivery. In the last month they changed their format to a heat and eat which consists of all the ingredients mixed together in a frozen packaging. The meat can no longer be seared and there is less meat as well we not enough broth. Neither less to say. We are very disappointed in their new direction.
Ordered food came to 70 dollars showed up at my door was not even close to what I ordered and now I dont get a refund I have been a long time costumer but now this is un real I want my money back
My daughter is a Guelph student and I popped over to see her for a late lunch after an exam. I had come across Crafty Ramen on instagram earlier this month and wanted to check it out. SO TASTY!! The broth was perfect. The noodles tasty. Interesting choices. It s a small cozy shop, really just counter seating. We were there mid afternoon and it was hopping (lots of take out orders). It was fun to watch the food being prepared. I gave it a 5 for atmosphere because it was the right atmosphere for the experience. Try the local craft cider from Revel when you are there. Easy street parking too. I have eaten a lot of ramen - including IN Japan (and I am heading back there in a few days). I highly recommend.
Food is always incredible. Plenty of vegan options, with the best tofu Ive ever had at a restaurant. You can truly tell there is a passion for the craft. Spicy Negi is a go to (ps, add Bok choy!) and the vampire slayer is a seasonal killer. The growth crafty has seen in the past couple years is so well deserved - Launching in Sobeys and Longos with the new frozen bowl and the new location in Toronto. I hope your appearance at CHFA helps you boom even further. Keep killing it
Best ramen ever !!! My go to spot whenever I m in Guelph . Food
Only real Chads eat here
Best. Ramen. Ever. The ambience, the staff, the food. Absolute must Espicially in fall & winter. This place is a Guelph gem
Tasty dishes every time we eat here. Can t go wrong!
Friendly service. Ramen was not worth the drive. I had the big city smoke and was surprised to one small slice of pork. Taste was just ok and did not feel I got my moneys worth at all.
I have Never a bad bowl of Ramen Been coming here for years and its always a nice treat Food
We enjoyed the busy atmosphere, staff and the amazing ginger drink. I am not a connoisseur of this type of food, however, I found it to be quite expensive for a bowl of noodles and broth. Also, I requested pork meat and received pork fat.
The crispy brussel sprouts are a must!
Kid-friendliness: They have 2 kid sizes to choose from. Training chop sticks were available. Food
I love Crafty Ramens ramen! And their snacks are great too (Im looking at you, karaage). My most recent pickup order was ready exactly at the time I had requested online, and I love that Crafty Ramen has the option to select Friendlier reusable containers for takeout. Fantastic! Vegetarian options: Crafty Ramen has a great vegan menu!
What a nice little place! Ramen was absolutely fantastic as well as the gyozas. Would definitely eat here again
We came from Colorado to visit the university and stumbled upon Crafty. Lucky us. You will not be disappointed. The food was off the charts and the chef was so kind as was the staff we met.
Im surprised by the high reviews! Ate from here twice - three years apart. The appetizers are OK - i do like the Korean fried chicken. But the ramen is extremely disappointing! Tastes nothing like ramen - lacks the depth, richness, and umami. Tastes like a salty, sour soup thats very unidimensional..The chashu pieces are bland too and wayyyy too thick for my liking. The staff are very friendly, and the ambience is good. But thats it.. This isnt ramen. Sorry.
Flavourless, and overpriced. I ve made better $2 instant ramen. I ordered the Tokyo sailsmen, got flavourless boiled chicken that tasted like a freezer. The broth was nothing to write home about. Very disappointing, restaurant was nice looking at least.
Excellent food! Very small restaurant with no real eat-in area. Good take out place.
My Date and I came here not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at what we found, the staff was very helpful, smiled and very professional along with a very friendly demeanor, but in a very genuine way. The food was cooked pretty quickly, and tasted delicious. My date has a build your own Ramen, her first real ramen experience, but was a bit too spicy for her, all the same she enjoyed the experience and the flavours. I had the Tokyo something or other, it was good and flavourful. We both attempted to use chop sticks and failed miserably . We both had New drinks, I had lemonade very tasty and she had the iced tea, she rather enjoyed it, they were made in Ontario and from Guelph. I would recommend people try this place out. I promise my date and I will be back to experience more dishes :) Vegetarian options: they also had vegan options
Wonderful service! Quick, easy and delicious! I love it every time I come; this time got the Tokyo Salaryman with pork and a marinated egg! Incredible taste.
So happy with our experience and even subscribed to regular ramen kits because we are in love! Thanks, Crafty Ramen!
Wasnt impressed. It was ok.
I happened to meet Miki, one of the brand ambassadors at a local grocery store, and sampled Crafty Ramen which she had prepared. I picked up a package, and have just enjoyed a delightful lunch, by far and away some of the best Ramen i have ever had!! Going to rush out and buy some more ASAP
