Crazy Carrot in Guelph

I hate to leave a less than savoury review, but I have to echo at least one other reviewer here and warn against the bowls. I had the Oaxaca bowl and it really was $15 for just rice, with a small sprinkling of shredded carrot and maybe ten black beans (not to be a literal bean counter) . I had a similar experience ordering the Seoul bowl on Uber eats, and thought that the disappointing portion may have just been a one-off so I gave it another go. Its comparable prices to chains like Freshii, but with only 10% of the vegetables you would expect for what you pay. The in house sauces are pretty good, and I think other menu items such as the wraps are possibly more substantial than the bowls. The staff is friendly and welcoming and overall I wish this was a spot I would feel more encouraged to return to. I would just advise possibly rethinking the rice to protein and veggie ratio on the bowls to create a more satisfying experience.

Loved the rice bowls! Super flavour

Smoothies were bland and grainy. Shawarma bowl was 90% white unseasoned rice, some falafel and 3 pieces of turnip. Everything took less than 5minutes to make..wow

$15 for a box of kale and paid extra to add two pieces of grilled tofu that was pretty much just raw but marinated. The other toppings like chickpeas, goat cheese and hemp seeds were barely present so it was mostly kale with some cabbage/shredded carrot mixed in. I was excited to try it out for a while but the portion and ingredients were very disappointing for the price.

I love crazy carrot I go here most days after the gym. Menu and food is great as well as service. My only constructive criticism is that they make building your own bowl in person easier than choosing a bowl and replacing toppings. Also even after adding more protein there could be more as it often still falls short. Still go here all the time.

Affordable spot with delicious healthy options for everyone! Vegetarian options: So many veg options from different ethnicities ! Kid-friendliness: Brought our kids and they were given balloons to play with. Super helpful the food doesn t take long :)

The bowls are mostly rice... they really skimp on the veggies. But the staff were really good about it and brought us another bowl with more veggies.

I eat here at least once a week! I love how many options they have and how customizable everything is. I loveee their salads and cilantro lime potatoes! Everything is always fresh and tastes great.

Super kind staff and quick service

Lovely vegetarian food - we loved the Indian thali on Fridays special, bargi burgers and chocolate cake was devine. Owners were very welcoming and great service. Lovely views over the square.

Food is great. The lady with the glasses at the cash register was very rude tonight. They were closing in 30 min and she kept yelling at us saying how she didn t have any potatoes left and it would take 15 min for them to make them- not to mention we didn t even tell her what we wanted to order yet. She mentioned she wasn t expecting anybody else to come in which is unrealistic, why do you have a closing time if you don t want anyone to come in? When we were leaving with our food, an Uber eats sound went off and she loudly yelled come on Uber eats ordering 20 mins before close . Very unprofessional and made a hostile atmosphere. This place exceeded my expectations. Came as a family of 4 (2 adults, a 2.5 and 9 yr old) and everyone was satisfied. The chef is a legit chef, and everything is made in house. Everything. Portions are great and so are the prices. This was our first time and we will be back. Vegetarian options: Veg, non veg and vegan options available.

Great place to check out if you re in Guelph for the day and looking for healthy dining options. When I worked downtown I used to get crazy carrot for lunch all the time, it s amazing! Great food, fresh ingredients and fast and friendly service. Highly recommend

The food was fresh and had decent flavour, but I was a bit disappointed by the portions of each of the individual ingredients. The prices are good but you get smaller portions because of it. Cute atmosphere but the lighting was kind of odd. Nice staff though!

Update: changed from 3 stars to 5. I decided to give this place a second try and came with friends. I got the istanbowl this time and it was soo much better than the warm bowl I previously got on my first visit. Ingredients were fresh and chicken was tender, garlic sauce it comes with is highly recommended!

We love the place and come often! Great food, wonderful helpful and friendly staff but .. without a doubt the absolute WORST music in downtown Guelph. I don t mind loud music, I don t even mind bad music but loud, bad music is just too much to bear.

Not impressed and would not recommend. Came here for lunch as this restaurant had great reviews. Ordered the K poutine which was a soggy mess. I expected a cohesive dish with fresh fries, gravy, melted cheese curds and remaining ingredients on top. Instead I got mushy cold cut up potatoes (Not fries), no gravy, and cheese curds that were fridge temp. Container was maybe 3/4 full. Gave an extra star as the place gives off good vibes and the staff is very friendly!

My absolute favourite restaurant in Guelph, I could eat here everyday. There are so many healthy and nutritious options that are customizable to your preferences and taste. They ve done an amazing job making real food that s cooked in-house and is different (and 1000x better!) than all the other chain restaurants. The owner and people that work here are all so friendly and truly care this and their passion for good food make it such an enjoyable experience. My go to s are the Oaxaca bowl with pulled pork, the Healthy Transfusion Smoothie, or the Crazy Carrot bowl. Always make it a crazy combo with chicken drumsticks, they re SO GOOD!

This is my the best place for healthy fast food in Guelph. I am vegan/ vegetarian and often struggle to find options but crazy carrot has a large menu and they are very accommodating. All the ingredients in their bowls can be modified to your liking. The owner is the kindest man and the staff are all very helpful and lovely. The chocolate chip cookies are so good. 10/10

I found out this morning that I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I was so overwhelmed not knowing what I could and could not eat... but Im so thankful for places like the crazy carrot for carrying such a variety of gluten free meals and drinks that are so tasty! The staff was a great help today as well in guiding me to what was right for me!

As many below have mentioned. Small portion of ingredients execept rice, nothing but rice. Oxaca bowl was all rice. $15 for a box of rice, Go fool someone else. 3/3 visits was my last. The girls behind the counter 5/5. The dude making your meal 0/5. 1/5 for the dude trying to argue about it.

As a vegan friendly restaurant, looking at the menu you d think the food would look as it appeared in the photo along with the ingredients listed. I received my bowl that was supposed to be full of vegetables. It consisted of a half empty container with 90% white rice and two small peices of chicken along with very little vegetables. When I asked is this bowl? The guy said yes and confirmed he made it right. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Awesome restaurant! I always order online to collect points! Try the poutine and the different types of Roti! They are phenomenal! These guys never disappoint! It s hard to go wrong with the food here! Also the service is lovely. The people at the counter gave me a great recommendation as a first timer, and they seem to make it a point to serve you the freshest possible food. I d received a side of drumsticks that, I thought tasted perfectly good. But I was most of the way done when a server came up and gave me an entirely new side of drumsticks! Explaining that the previous one was probably dry since it was from an earlier in the day batch and they just finished a fresh one. Honestly above and beyond! I ll definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu.

It was quite terrible experience. This afternoon I ordered Market salad and according to picture and description it should has one whole egg and broccoli. However, there was just half egg and no broccoli in that.

Food was extremely disappointing nothing tasted good. We went in a group of 4 everyone got something different and everything was extremely disappointing. All of us also felt sick after eating our meals. Pretty expensive for such small portions. Could get much better food anywhere else. DO NOT get the poutine. Will never be returning to this location.

Went 2 weeks in a row, I had the Tikka roti wrap with falafel both time. My friend had the CC bowl. I cannot say enough good things. The food was amazing, the sauces are on point and the speed at which the food came out was incredible. The only cons are that they wont sell me the sauces by the litre and I want to eat 5 of the Tikka roti.

Last night we got a Istanbowl, and a C.C box. The Istanbowl had literally 10 chickpeas, about 4 cherry tomatoes, and what I can only equate as a babys handful of cucumber. There was lots of rice and chicken at least. The C.C bowls lately have also had like 2-3 pieces of cauliflower. On another seperate visit I experienced the exact same thing. Waste.

This was my first time trying after hearing so many good reviews about Crazy Carrot. But, I have to say I m very disappointed. I ordered Harappa Bowl, and it looked like 3/4 of the box was filled with rice with very little toppings on top + a big dressing container. Unfortunately, I don t have a before picture, but with a little bit of exaggeration I could say I could count how many chickpeas, sweet potatoes, spinach leaves, tofu, etc. Taste was alright, but I didn t have enough toppings nor dressing to eat with rice. I do want to try other menus. But today was a miss! After the owner s comment Hi, I appreciate your quick response! But, it still does not justify my experience. I did order large portion of the bowl with tofu topping for $3.50. In the earlier review above, I didn t want to be too picky so I didn t mention this. But for that price, I got two pieces of tofu which I think highly overpriced even considering prep/cook/worker fee when I know I can get a whole pack of tofu at a local grocery stores for less than $2. Also I wasn t saying your restaurant doesn t serve high quality of food. I have no doubt it does! I was just talking about the portion and how I didn t get enough portion for the money s worth. There wasn t enough toppings for me to finish the rice. I found another review of a customer who had the same concern as me. So could you perhaps consider where we are coming from? I m more than happy to pay any price to enjoy good food. But, I think it needs to meet certain expectations, that s all.

I ve tried this place three times and except for the first time, in which the owner helped me and made my wrap, I was very disappointed and will not be returning. Twice I ordered a bowl as a wrap with additional falafal and twice I got a wrap of quinoa. The veggies were almost non-existent and the falafal was barely noticeable even though I had to pay extra. A quinoa wrap is disgusting and nutritionally lacking, as well as not being what the menu described. The employees making this are either not making it right, or they are instructed to do this, which is just wrong. Very dissatisfied.

A good price for what you get and a way better local option then Freshii. Really enjoy the market wrap with the soft tofu and egg inside. Only critique is the broccoli on the wrap was all stem no leaf.

This is one my favourite places to order from during a busy workday. Healthy food doesn t have to be boring, tasteless or bland. Crazy Carrot has found that perfect balance of being a healthy place to eat, while still feeling like I m treating myself. I ve had the Oaxaca bowl with chicken, and I don t know how they cook or prep their chicken but it is out of this world good! They truly care about making good food that s good for you. Give them a try and I promise you won t be disappointed!

Delicious, fresh and zesty! True craftsmanship and care baked into a great menu offering. Floored by the flavour in the herbed potatoes and cilantro mint dressing, and the falafel was one of the best we ve had. Looking forward to helping make this spot a downtown Guelph staple!

Ordered a coffee today and didnt tip because the Asian girl was on the phone and had to wait awhile before gettingmy order taken. Cashier didnt ask how I wanted my coffee because of the tip and also gave me half a cup of large coffee black. Very upset with the lack of professionalism from this store

Weve been very happy with crazy carrot since it popped up in Guelph. Great place for some healthy, affordable meals. Their menu has expanded quite a bit in the last year and offers a good variety of options for whatever youre craving. Love that all the packaging is compostable! Staff are always so nice on the phone and in person. Crazy carrot has become one of our top choices when we order out.

Honestly, simply underwhelming. Maybe it s what I got (Kyoto bowl) but it wasn t that good. I hate writing this because I wanted to like it so much. It has so much potential but it s a plain rice bowl with plain chicken and plain veg. The teriyaki sauce just tasted like soy and once put on the bowel it was just a watery mess. It didn t taste great but I m sure with some changes it could. This wouldn t stop me from trying something else in the future but it won t be this bowl again. It just needed a thicker sauce and more flavour.....

Crazy carrot has been a mainstay of my GF and I regular diet since we moved to Guelph in January. My go to s are the Harappa with Fallafel and the large chicken box after a big workout. They have an incredible meal plan coming out I am looking very forward to!

Delicious is an understatement. Being Celiac, finding a place to eat safely has been a very rough struggle. We stumbled upon Crazy Carrot when looking for another place that had gluten free options. We were drawn in and I almost screamed in excitement when I opened the menu and saw SO MANY gluten free options. The staff were welcoming and working hard. The customer service from the man at the counter was outstanding. He assisted us through everything with delight. Our food was prepped fresh as claimed, and the presentation was perfect. Even the way it is packaged shows care. We decided to dine on their cute patio, the owner (I think) came out and stopped to talk to us, checking how our food was. A child had taken a tumble and he rushed to the family. How caring! Absolutely outstanding business. I will definitely be making this my go to.

What a gem in downtown Guelph. The food tastes amazing without compromising the healthiness factor. This is a place where you can bring a group of friends with different dietary restrictions and preferences yet still leave with everyone happy. We spoke with the owner when we went and it was clear that he was passionate about the quality of the food and the customer service. What a great place!

Delicious bowls and beverages. I get the large bowls with no protien, and I find them to be both delicious and filling. Portion size is great for the price and the ingredients are always fresh. The tumeric lemonade is my favourtie drink, plus there are a number of delicious vegan (and non vegan) desserts to choose from. Staff are very polite, orders are always ready on time and as a bonus ALL of their packaging and cutlery is 100% compostable. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. Nice patio outside to enjoy your meal. This has become my go to lunch spot when in Guelph. Healthy, affordable, filling and eco counscious.

Food was good, but nothing to write home about. Like the chopped leaf they overcharge for their dishes,which were dry and not very well seasoned. Could have made my dish at home for 1/3 The cost.

This is a must-try spot downtown Guelph for anyone looking to have quality, fresh, and healthy food. Menu items are all made in-house and you can really appreciate the flavours in all dishes. Prices are extremely reasonable and you have options based on level of appetite. Customer Service and Management focus on the details to make it a positive experience! If I could recommend a few favourites I would say the J Poutine (a tasty spin using Terriyaki sauce), Pulled Pork sandwich, Quesadilla w/ Guac, Oaxaca as a bowl, and Rainforest as a wrap!

Ordered delivery for the first time last week and it did not disappoint! Food was really tasty albeit a bit cold, but that is understandable when ordering delivery. The size of the brownie bites compared to the price was a bit mind boggling. 1.50 for the tiniest brownie you will ever see in your life. Just charge another dollar and give a full size brownie! Also the picture of the brownies on the ordering menu is deceiving. It makes it look like you re getting a container of mini brownies and not just 1 for 1.50$

I loooooove Crazy Carrot and definitely recommend checking them out if you want a healthy eating option in Guelph. I would eat their Oaxaca bowl everyday of the week if I could (great portion, love the dressing + hot sauce). But anytime Ive tried something different off the menu, Ive loved it too. Great versatile menu with choices for all that includes Vegetarian. The home made sauces are yummy. The folks there are very friendly and helpful. Will be going back.

Despite the name, the Crazy Carrot is not a vegan or vegetarian eatery. The menu offerings include greens, wraps, soups, fresh juices and breakfast and bakery items. The menu is designed to help diners customize their meals, but does not indicate which items contain animal products, and which are vegan and vegetarian friendly. The restaurant can make accommodations for dairy free and gluten free diners but requires communicating to staff what your requirements are. The interior is still quite new and fresh feeling and the entire store front opens onto the sidewalk, where during our visit, the restauarant was sampling a tea beverage. In addition to the prep counter the cooler has apples and drinks and the countertops have baskets bearing nuts and chips - which could be handy as a compliment to a meal, but blurs the line where healthiness is concerned. Staff were patient and helpful. The restaurant is still new and clean, and it is located downtown on the strip where there is regular foot traffic, and which is accessible by transit. The layout of the interior does make it accessible and navigable for strollers and persons with mobility devices, (especially in the summer, on a hot day, when the whole store front opens out onto the sidewalk.) The pricing seemed reasonable for the portion sizes and the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. Well return, even though its not entirely vegan

Healthy food that its very carefully prepared and priced very reasonably. Great variety. Set up to allow tremendous amount of customization of menu dishes. Place seems genuinely purpose-driven to provide an inexpensive healthy food experience. The atmosphere is very spacious with a nice harmony of raw wood paneling and furniture and an open ceiling. Staff and ownership very friendly and attentive. A welcome addition to the downtown food scene.

Very reasonably priced, huge servings and a massive variety of veggies for your entree. Highly recommend for the health conscious foodie, they serve chicken also for people who dont want vegan options.

First visit today! One of the staff gave me the suggestion or ordering one of the warm bowls with half rice / half spinach - I highly recommend! And there was no extra charge. :) love that! The bowel was super tasty with a lovely presentation. Great tables with an outlet for a laptop so we could work. and free wifi! The only thing was the protein sizes were a little small. Would have loved a bit larger serving of tofu! Will definitely be returning. cant wait to try some more items!

Excellent food. But for what they charge is Mindblowing. The portion they give is for babies. 1 full tomato cherry Like a teaspoon of cheese Half a SMALL breast of chicken. 10pc of corn Small scoop of guac Teaspoon of black beans. Lol wow

This restaurant was great! Everything tasted super fresh and delicious. I opted for their Crazy Kale Salad and I would definitely order it again and recommend it to someone looking for a delicious healthy meal. The only downside was that I was charged $2 to add tofu to my salad and was only given a few small pieces. It definitely didnt feel like I got my moneys worth of protein. That being said though, the salad would have been just as good if I didnt add it, so next time I probably wont. We will be back :)

One of my good friends recommended Crazy Carrot to me, so i got some take out lunch today. I had the Tokyo bowl and some grilled drumsticks and it was delicious! My take out was prepared quickly, I would definitely order from here again. :)

Wow, Crazy Carrot is awesome!!! This was our first time here, but it definitely won t be our last! We had the Chicken Pounder and the Veggie Pounder as well as the Iced Matcha Latte. Everything was delicious and satisfying!! The best part is that it s all so fresh and healthy that we felt energized even after enjoying such solid portions!

We like this place. I had the veggie pounder twice this week. The first time I had it as is, just switching out the garlic sauce for a vegan option. second time I also swapped out the herbed potatoes for cauliflower, which made it a little lighter and much more delicious in my opinion. If you like strong coffee this is the place for you. Im a coffee amateur, and I found their coffee too strong for me. Extra points to this place because I screwed up my order, so they replaced it for free, and gave me the screwed up order for a friend.

Great restaurant with the kindest, nicest people working there! I love their large selection of food options, plus they have great deals to save some $$ - especially if youre a student at the university, but not only. I also love their decor:)

What an amazing hidden gem. If you like vegan food they have you covered. If you need meat, their chicken is unreal! I had the Chicken Pounder and I was full and happy!! I will be back... sooner than later.

The place itself is very beautiful and a really nice spot to sit for a while with friends or get some work done. Great alternative to your regular cafe - has a big list of healthy food options for anyone! Also the breakfast wrap is so good and so affordable. Highly recommend.
