Quick service Asian Fusion best known for Banh Mi and also serving Pho, Rice Noodle Bowls, Fusion Salads, Phorritos, Fusion Tacos, Bubble Tea and Fruit Smoothies.
wonderful food… love the Banh mi.. toppings are so fresh and good enough quantity
It is a nice restaurant with great prices and good portions for downtown. It is a cozy little spot, close to Spring Garden.
100% original Vietnamese went to Vietnamese Banh Mi shop to try for the first time. We ordered LEMONGRASS CHICKEN Banh Mi and its not original, tastless, small size and full of vegetable. Price is crazy, 13$ with tax for a small Banh Mi compared to in Toronto or Montreal. I give them 2 stars because of staff behavior. Updated: For misunderstanding, staff who was the one get stars. She was nice, friendly. The complain was for the food not for her. Love her.
The BBQ tofu banh mi is delicious. I've eaten here probably 100 times and it's never not good.
We ordered a large chicken noodle soup to go. This is all we got. We called to confirm and got insulted by the staff. Would recommend to no one. Taste horrible too. ———- Comments after owner’s response: I’ve never bothered to leave bad reviews to a restaurant as how low the stake normally is. 1. Inquiry about the menu: it’s not clear on the menu display what kind of noodle soup you offer. So I asked whether there is beef noodle soup. The staff said no and he looks like he’s originally from India. So I asked where he is from out of respect and curiosity given normally beef noodle soup is a staple at a pho restaurant. 2. Again the combo doesn’t indicate which soup it comes with. I asked about the combo and was under the impression from the initial responses from the staff is that the combo can either come in small or large noodle soup. Yet later I was told it’s not available in large noodle soup so I double checked to confirm and asked if that’s a possibility. Given the answer is a confirmed no so I ordered the LARGE noodle soup only instead. 3. It’s clear in the video that I posted what’s in the noodle soup, everyone will able to judge whether that is a large noodle soup or not. 4. I have never heard a restaurant having trouble answering inquiries from their customers / potential customers. There was no one behind me to order either. If you / staff don’t want to answer any questions make it clear on the written menu or consider whether this is the right business for you to be in. 5. I called immediately after I opened the lid thinking the staff may have made a mistake re portion. Instead i was told there was no chance they would have made a mistake. All the above combined, I decided to leave my first ever bad restaurant review to help others avoid potential bad experience.
Ummmmm ..... so not your authentic banh mi sandwich. Although there was lots to like about my lunch, there were also lots to not like. The likes were fresh ingredients and bread. The not likes were no dickon, not enough cilantro and cucumbers. But the most upsetting was that staff did not wear gloves. Please let me know if anyone sees any changes.
Oof this place has gone downhill in the last while. I ordered a tandoori chicken banh Mi and it was actually disgusting. It had five small pieces of chicken and cilantro and the rest was all shredded carrots, (supposed to also have cucumber, daikon, and chillies). There's a picture for you to all see, it was horrible. The chicken broth pho was disgusting. It tasted like a can of chicken broth that was poured into a container, not even heated up. It had pieces of brown vegetables and some pieces of chicken, it also came with the side of half expired lime slices. There's a picture of that too. It was actually one of the worst meals I've had in a while at any restaurant. So disappointing. (Update in the reply. They say that I called to order and I picked it up an hour and a half late. This is all not true at all. First I didn't even call. It was online order. Second it was delivered and it was delivered within 30 minutes of my order. Not sure where they're coming up with these stories to make it seem like the customer was a fault)
Not authentic, food was not in the proper portions of a vietnamese dish. The food was alright, it was a good attempt and i can appreciate the effort and the enjoyment of asian culture and the anthony Bourdain inspirations and of east asian cuisine. Had the banh mi and vermicelli Personally dont like the business’s name for various reasons.
EDIT: I reordered the exact same items several weeks later. The food was perfect. Every problem I had with it was completely fixed. Im impressed. The food is edible, the price is pretty good for Halifax, and the portion is fine. The food could use some work, though. Everything is lacking the sweet element. The Vietnamese dipping sauce, banh mi toppings, and pho broth all need more sugar. They advertise as being healthy so its possible its an intentional choice. It changes the usual flavour balance of Vietnamese restaurant food, though. The thing that really grinds my gears, though, was that I wanted the experience of a bowl of noodle soup. The noodles, for some reason, were cut in about one and a half inch pieces. Perhaps they thought it was for a child or something. I wanted to be able to pick up a heap of noodles and slurp on them on this cool autumn day. Instead, I got to fish them from the bottom of the bowl with a spoon. The bread the banh mi is on is actually really good. Id probably get the sandwich again before the soup. If the noodles werent disappointing it might be 4 stars.
Fantastic service always! Such friendly staff, and the food is consistently amazing. One of my favourite spots in the city !!
Delicious food, fresh, fast and nice Service. Always a reason to come back :)
Love the food and the service. Very nice staff.
Right next to the garden, perfect for a takeout picnic. The service was very friendly and banh mi was delicious!
The Banh Mi was delicious
Consistent great food and service! I work very close to Indochine so I go all the time! Even under new owners I have found that the food is still amazing and the staff is always friendly! I ve never had any issues over the many years I ve been eating here! Their bahn mi sandwiches are the best!
Nice find after visiting the Halifax Public Gardens, right across the street. Great noodle bowl soups!
I love banh mi s. This was the least pleasurable I ever had. (Lemongrass chicken).
It s all time my favourite spot to have lunch. I love their banhmi s and the noodle bowls. Fresh and good quality and great customer service. I highly recommend banhmi s
Best Banh mi s in the Halifax, lots of vegetarian options specially BBQ Tofu banh mi is awesome, friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommended
One of the best sandwiches Ive ever had! I tried the BBQ Tofu Banh Mi today and loved it. Great tasting tofu and veggies and fresh crunchy bread. Friendly service too! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options.
Small and quick-serve (not fast food) fusion restaurant with many interesting dishes. There are plenty of vegetarian dishes, but I had their version of rice noodle bowl with egg roll and tandoori chicken. My wife had BBQ tofu Bahn Mi sandwich, and we both loved our dishes. With so many overpriced touristy places in downtown Halifax, it was great to find a small local restaurant. Vegetarian options: All dishes have vegetarian options.
I love the Indian twist on some of the dishes. The staff, which I can only imagine are the owners were very friendly and the food was great! I work for an airline and this place is beside the hotel we stay at on layovers and was recommended to me by everyone. I can see why. Will be back for more!!
There banh mi s are so delicious and staff gave us warm welcome. I love the place too it was cozy and quite peaceful. Lemongrass chicken banh mi is definitely the best. The banh mi s are always loaded with lots of fresh vegetables. Lots of vegetarian options as well.
This is a small lunch place for Vietnamese (not Thai) food. They specialize in Vietnamese sandwiches but also have other items as well. Like spring rolls. The problem is the spring rolls, rather than being light rice paper wrapped made while you waited, they reheated greasy deep fried rolls without much flavour. Their spring roll soup just has these rolls added cut up. If you dont want something with bread or spring rolls there is not much else. Tried the soup. Broth was good but the rest was surprisingly tasteless despite putting in the sauces provided. Edited after managements response.
Vegetarian options: I really really like vegetarian balls. so delicious!! Food
Probably the best Banh Mi east of Montreal
Lemon grass Banh Mi was so fresh and delicious!! Super friendly service and cute spot! Not many places to sit, only a few chairs on the all wall but so worth it!!!
Stopped here for a quick lunch and it was so so good!! Vegetarian options: They had lots of tofu options! Food : 5/5 |
Delicious banh mi at a fair price, not as cheap as Id like, but Im all for paying for quality. There was only 1 person behind the counter and I could tell he was slammed, but regardless he was pumping out those orders. Will come back!
Ive been here for lunch a handful of times now and its become my favorite lunch spot in the city. -the pork, chicken, and shrimp were all great portions and seasoned well -always fresh veggies with really flavorful chillies and good cilantro -Love the toasted buns, great texture and crunch to bring it all together Definitely go try these sandwiches!
Ordered through DoorDash and they were super fast. Food was hot, flavourful, filling and delicious! Offers several vegan options, it was hard to choose what I wanted. I got the bulgogi tofu wrap and a mint lemonade, so yummy!!! Vegetarian options: Excellent vegan options, labeled clearly.
Sooo yummy and fresh!
Got the chicken banh mi, and it was amazing
Ok ok ok. I love Indochine, they are priced so well and when you order it with an app, it comes pronto. The Bahn mi are so damn good but hopefully this review will reach someone up top because something happened with the pho!!!! It used to be awesome but now there are two simple things wrong with it: chicken is overcooked and dry and the noodles are undercooked and hard! If you fix these two things you would be a 10 my guy. This place makes an amazing shrimp bahn mi, Im kind of addicted. Please bring back da good soup! Have the chicken on the side and add it in to the broth, if it sits in there all day its gunna be leather... And maybe a minute or two more with the noodles. All love! Thanks Indochine!
My partner and I came in for lunch and ordered a smoothie, a vegetarian teriyaki chicken banh mi, and a combo lemongrass chicken banh mi/pho ga. My vegetarian banh mi was okay! It didn t have a lot of teriyaki flavour, but the pickled veggies were flavourful. The smoothie was just straight-up bad, not gonna lie. It tasted rancid, like something had gone off. Even without the rancid taste, though, it was so watery and I couldn t taste any of the fruits in it. My partner s banh mi didn t have any lemongrass flavour and tasted like a tuna subway sandwich rather than banh mi. Calling a sandwich a banh mi does not a banh mi make -them, in anticipation of the owner s reply to our review. Their pho was lukewarm and too salty, and the noodles were not fresh they re precooked and then portioned into the serving cup (source: we saw this happen). It was also a very small portion; it was at most 4 bites of noodles. The prices were low! But the food wasn t great. The server showed a lot of care about my dietary restrictions (vegetarian), which was nice. Lots of vegetarian options.
This is the first time i tried the Vietnamese restaurant and my experience was amazing. I had a tofu phorrito it was fully loaded with all the toppings . Enough to have a good meal, lots of options in vegetarian as well. Undoubtably, recommend to everyone . Good luck Indochine .
Wish I d read recent reviews before eating here. Used to be one of our family favourites - loved the banh mi, bowls, smoothies and lemonade. Looks like it s under new ownership and the quality was surprisingly bad - the spring roll had one tiny, old unpalatable spring roll, no herbs in sight, no daikon, and a lousy peanut sauce. Will never go back. Sad to see this place go down the drain . Update: Editing my review because I cannot respond to the comment they left on my review - I didn t say that I ordered all of those things today - I said that my family used to order these items from Indochine frequently in the past - before COVID. Today I ordered a spring roll bowl and it was pathetic - nothing like you have described regardless of your claims to the contrary. If you are the same owner that has been running the place since you initially opened then I can tell you that you ve either let your quality plummet or that you have some staff now who have no interest in upholding the quality you once had. Either way, the abundance of terrible reviews suggest that something has gone very off track
I just come for a quick lunch today. I have ordered an BBQ chicken banh mi and I really like it. The bread is very fresh and the chicken is flavorful. I would recommend this store to everybody.
awesome Bahn mi on amazing fresh bread. great to take across the street to the Gardens for lunch!
Ive been going to this place for years and theyve managed to keep their quality high. Best spot in town for a good Banh Mi. The pork meatball isnt something you may normally opt for, but its worth the experiment. The Rendang could be spicier
THIS IS WHAT HALIFAX NEEDS MORE OF indochine banh mi has been my favourite spot to grab quick lunch and dinner downtown for a couple years now and they NEVER disappoint. the bread? CRUNCHY. the house-made mayo? DELICIOUS. the teriyaki chickn (tofu) banh mi is my GO TO. <3
The fine folks at Indochine catered a staff lunch for us. They re were prompt and professional with their communication to set up the order, and on time with their delivery. Best of all, the food was delicious!! Thanks team!
Excellent little spot, I m so happy I discovered it. I come here as often as I can to grab a banh mi or phorrito.
Needed lunch for a film crew of 22. I was only able to give same day notice and Indochine accommodated us and all our dietary restrictions extremely well! Amazing food the tacos were especially tasty!
Ive been coming here for years for lunch, the BBQ chicken banh mi is amazing! Best spots for lunch in Halifax.
my fav but can you please add extra protein and extra sauce as an add on option on uber eats!! :)
My favourite spot to grab a quick lunch! Tons of vegan options too, which is lovely! The employees are always very nice too :)
So many varieties and food is delicious.. best place to visit
Authentic and delicious. To many options on Vegan too. A must visit place
Great food
Awesome place! really enjoyed their service & food taste was good Vegetarian options: Spring rolls are extremely good! Food : 5/5 |
Great food and staff are very nice
I am a regular for ordering here on UberEats whenever Im craving something super fresh, healthy and vegan. The Fusion Salad with tofu (Japanese Ginger dressing) is my favourite tofu meal in the city. The tofu is an extra $5 but worth it - I really like the flavor and texture and they are generous with how much they put in. With the quinoa and fresh veggies it is a superfood meal for sure. Vegetarian options: Their tofu is really good - nice flavor and texture.
I love this place! The food is fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. The staff are always friendly as well :)
Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options Food
Yummy food (spring roll bowl was great) and I recommend the Guava nectar! Staff was lovely too.
We have been enjoying the food at Indochine since they first opened their doors. My daughter s favourite is the Shrimp Banh Mi so I ordered catering for her high school graduation party. Not only was their fresh, flavourful food a huge hit with our guests, they included a graduation card with best wishes for our daughter. Customer service doesn t get better than that! Thank you, Indochine!
Go here!
Best customer service prompt response and yummy food enjoyed the food with my kids. They loved it and wanted to visit again. Thanks Indochine Banh MI
Amazing food with delicious test, Great service, no waiting, friendly n hygiene atmosphere
Delicious food, my kids loved Spring Rolls, Excellent Service... Vegetarian options: They have Vegan too... Food : 5/5 |
Reasonably priced, plenty of vegetarian options and the owners are wonderful highly recommended!
It was a delightful experience I had at Indochine. The food was amazing and so the customer experience .. would love to dine again with my friends. I highly recommend this place
Excellent vegetarian options, I love their homemade veggie balls. Everything I ve tried so far has been excellent! The staff are super friendly and welcoming and very reasonable prices, I always feel like I get really good value for my money! Can t say enough about this yummy gem of a place Vegetarian options: It s all very fresh and tastes like it was made the same day!
Lovely little spot for a delicious and well prepared meal. Would return :)
Healthy meals prepared in a timely maner! Awesome!
Food is decent but I would be very careful ordering from here. I am well aware mice are an issue downtown (I live here), but I saw two traps - the metal box kind - on the SAME table that the food was being handled on. One of the workers was for some reason touching it as well as making the food (did not care to even wash his hands after!) and the kitchen seemed egregiously unsanitary and in need of a health & safety review. I hope they can up their standards to the other places around Downtown to eat but until then I will stop eating here for my own safety. I have heard the same from my friends.
Quick service, great portions for lunch and located right across from public garden. I had the Tandoori chicken Bahn Mi and was not expecting it to be this good.
Good healthy food if you dont always want to settle for fast junk food but want the expediency.
Fresh, healthy and tasty
Ridiculous wait times. One employee working . 20 customers . Takes 40 minutes for a sandwich
The owners and staff here are very friendly, you are always welcomed with a smile. The food is beyond delicious, always fresh and the lemonade is sooooo good, the bahn mi is one of the best in the city. If you want a good food at a good price that will fill up your belly, this is the spot. Definitely one of my favorite places
Really good banh mi subs, made fresh to order. We had the lemongrass chicken and the Korean BBQ chicken and they were both amazing. The perfect amount of toppings and sauce to make our quick lunch most enjoyable. There are a few outdoor tables (under a cover) or indoor bar seats. We didnt get drinks but I want the Vietnamese coffee or the fresh mint lemonade. Will have to come back!
Great lunch! We ordered some food to go and went and ate in the public gardens. We really enjoyed our meals! Food
Delicious banh mi and pho at a great price. Nice location.
Delicious freshly made food!
DELICIOUS! Considering Indochine Banh Mi? Bad! Stop considering and start going. The bun is yum, the meat is great, and the carrots are fresh. Don t walk, run to your next meal. You want to go today. You want the Banh Mi. And you also want a side taco.
If youre craving Banh Mi then avoid this establishment. Its no more than Subway under a different theme with a similar quality, and quite overpriced. 31 dollars for two relatively small sandwiches was pretty offensive along with the additional charge for the stingy amount of pate they add. The flavor of the sandwich itself was nothing to brag about either. Wont be returning and its really puzzling how many people are recommending this place as authentic because I wish I hadnt. Edit: your food still sucks and you don t get your ingredients from those places. Stop lying.
This place is just awful. How on earth do so many people recommend this garbage. Look at your own pictures ffs. It doesnt even look good. Its just a white washed overpriced version of what bahn mi should be. Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs. The people recommending this garbage have never been out of the province it seems
I had half and half ( Banh mi and pho). It was sooo good!! I should get full size of Banh mi next time ;)
If you re looking for authentic banh mi, then do not come to this place. The baguette was okay, not crispy or airy how it s supposed to be done. This is a very watered down version of banh mi, lacking any authentic Vietnamese flavours.
First time here. Got the lemongrass chicken banh mi sandwich. It was fresh and delicious! I can t comment on the authenticity because I don t eat this kind of food often but I will definitely be returning. Thank you:)
Great lunch spot. Good price and delicious combo of soup with sandwiches. Something different but no regrets.
Was visiting Halifax with my wife, and we stopped in here for lunch. We can seriously say, over the four days we were here, this was the best food we had all visit! We got the meatball banh mi and the bbq pork banh mi. The latter was so flavourful and fresh-tasting. The bread on both was crispy and fluffy, and they were both packed with so much fresh veg and sauce. However, the meatball banh mi is where they truly shined. They were so incredibly tasty, I wish we ordered a second one!! Bossman was so awesome too. When we went in it must have been a lunch rush, because he was dealing with so many orders at once, but he never stopped being friendly and smiling. He was so sweet that I couldnt help but compliment the food afterwards, which he was so thankful for. If youre in the city, it is 100% worth the walk up the hill for this one!
Friendly smiles from my sever and what a taste combination of lemongrass tofu Bahn Mi . On soft French bread sub with just the right flavouring. Clean spot with upbeat atmosphere. The prices are so good too, despite trying to operate quality food service in today s environment of sky high groceries and rent in an upscale building. I ll be back! Mary
The price is ridiculously high for the quality....no reason to come back
Ordered a lemongrass chicken bread...the taste was super off and the portion or toppings were not up to the price. I dont know how you could mess up lemongrass chicken.
Excellent Bahn Mi, would not reccomend straying into the phorritos or the lentil stuff just get the BBQ Bahn Mi and you wont regret it.
Ive ordered from here a lot. The bahn mi are excellent. BUT theyve gotten really lazy with the pho. If you go to uber eats, they advertise a picture/description of the pho with all the sides - bean sprouts, hot sauce, hoisin, basil, etc. When you order it, none of that stuff comes. Basicallly just a bowl with rice noodles and some cilantro. Its happened the last 2 times Ive ordered. All my pho junkies know that stuff is key. Hey Indochine, if youre not going to send that stuff with an order, PLEASE CHANGE THE PIC AND THE DESCRIPTION ON ORDERING APPS. Thanks.
Terrible experience from the staff. The lady who was working on Feb/04/2022 at 1:30 PM, she was very rude and unprofessional. She will kill your business. Staff like her is burden to the business
Thank you god for this food! So tasty! Second time in a week ! The bahn mis are just incredible! Dont miss the vietnamese coffee!!!!
very kind and clean place . Absolutely delicious food
Pretty good.
Amazing food, very yummy, vegetarian Banh Mi is one of my favorite, my family enjoyed fully. Soups are amazing.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food at Indochime banhmi.specially the lemongrass tofu and the coconut curry soup. Also enjoyed the freshness in smoothies Will prefer to visit the restaurant again and again.
Excellent Bahn Mi! Lemongrass Tofu was awesome, meat was awesome - excellent spice, jalapeños were medium-hot so test them out first unless youre ok with heat. Staff here is so awesome! If youve bit had Vietnamese bahn mi be aware theres cilantro which for most people is a huge win. Great semi-healthy option after the gym, you can even carry around the baguette and secretly pretend youre Parisian in downtown Halifax. Next time will try the famous coffee.
Very good food and service.
They have the best barbecue pork and the spring roll bowls is a must have.. But my favourite was the pork meatballs
I ordered the phorrito with Indonesian rendang port inside (medium). It was very delicious and full favors. I love a spicy food and for the next time I will order it again with the spicy choice.
Pick up one of their amazing Bahn Mi, get a bench in the gardens across the street, eat the sandwich, watch the ducks, and be reminded that life can be pretty good sometimes.
It reminded me of the food I ate in Vietnam. The interior of the store was also nice. The spicy dishes were very delicious.
Fantastic restaurant highly recommend
I hate to be harsh, but this was overall really disappointing. I got the pho ga combo (a bowl of pho with half of a banh mi - I got BBQ chicken), a spring roll, and a boba smoothie. First, the pho. The broth was a bit bland and the noodles were these short little strips that had almost disintegrated into the soup. No texture left to them. I got maybe 3 small pieces of chicken in it, which was ironically the best part of the pho. The banh mi didnt fare much better. It had very little filling inside. The baguette was alright, the pickled veggies could have been a bit more pickled, but the chicken? Where was the gochujang? This was supposed to be BBQ chicken but not a speck of sauce was present. It was like they took out the gochujang container and let the chicken sit *nearby*. Im not joking, this chicken was bare. The spring roll was about the size of a small blunt and I paid $2.99 for it. As was the running theme with this meal, it was also bland. So when I finished the food and was hoping the boba smoothie would be my savior - a little bit of redemption from my waste of takeout money - I was left betrayed. How can you make a smoothie bad? Not even the tapioca pearls could save that texture. I will say that whatever chili sauce they gave me was pretty good though.
Great service, and food
Of the two dishes we ordered, the tofu bun was inoffensive and the curry soup was oily and tasteless.
So not sure what the sandwiches were like but the coconut curry was an abomination, the noodles were spaghetti noodles, onions were raw, and the sauce was blander than a Barry Manilow concert
Indochines menu and portions hav improved over the years. My current fav is the chicken phoritto paired with a Vietnamese ice coffee. The pho flavours in a burrito format is perfect.
Everything so tasty. Great veggie/vegan options.
Used to be my favourite place in the city, but I tried to get pork belly the other day and turns out they dont make it anymore. Tried to get whole wheat, they dont carry it anymore. Bahn mi (lemongrass chicken) tasted like nothing. And the price was way too high for not being tasty. Gone way down hill... Wont be back!
Usually really great bahn mi. Just grabbed two BBQ tofu to go. When we opened them up there was no cilantro, barely any sauce and it was just loaded with carrots. If this was my first experience I wouldnt go back. Consistency is key!
Great local restaurant with a large variety of choices and everything is incredibly delicious. I especially love the subs!
I had one time it was gross over uber take out but it was a one time thing every other time food has been amazing great options for meat eaters and vegans alike! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options and veg Dietary restrictions: Im a vegan they always ask now if I want the vegan mayo Wheelchair accessibility: No barriers to accessing the front door or anything but the bathrooms are not wheelchair friendly
Love the food, service is typically extremely rude and unwelcoming
Always excellent & the staff are so nice!
Food is great but I waited over 40 minutes for my Bahn Mi Sandwich. The combo of in person and online orders clearly overwhelms the small kitchen during peak lunch so ensure you have lots of time.
Ordered a lemongrass chicken banh mi, there were only a few crumbles of chicken in it with no lemongrass flavor. Not worth the price or the wait (over 15 min) in my opinion.
This used to be one of my favourite places to eat. We just ordered a ton of food that we usually would order and it was a complete disaster. I ordered the Buddha Bowl with Bulgogi tofu and no sprouts. The tofu was plain, raw and had zero flavour and there was sprouts in my bowl. The lemongrass chicken banh mi had ZERO lemongrass flavour whatsoever- unseasoned cubes of chicken. I called the restaurant due to the utter shock I was in and asked if they had changed owners. They told me they did change owners, but they are following recipes. They were not apologetic and offered nothing to reconcile the situation. Avoid at ALL costs.
Delicious Banh Mi
Decent place to eat banh mi ... Nice, clean cosy place !
Awesome kind staff
Great place. Good food.
Really did spend a lot of money there. I was a very frequent customer for a long time. However the female owner with the glasses for whatever reason seemingly turned on me..For what reason I have no idea I never once ate in. Always came and went with my food it was weird? Just became cold to deal with it seemed. It became uncomfortable, I decided not to give them my business anymore. Good food though.
Food was ok. Sandwiches were alright, but the spring roll and mushroom bowl was bland and quite underwhelming. Staff was rude.
Ordered a tofu burrito through takeout and it was just ok. More veggies and would have been nice.
Never go to this restaurant I was there today and the staff was very rude. Tall skinny brown guy was very disrespectful he doesn t not know how to talk with customers. I wish someone could put manners in him.
Very friendly service and good food
Chickn terriyaki banmhi was amazing.
I got a bbq tofu banh mi today, it was amazing! Plus, I was served by a girl who wore a cap, she was really friendly and nice!! I really recommend the restaurant and will def comeback for another try!
Everything was just Perfect! Definitely recommend this place!
Best food I have had in halifax and area. The Vegan Bahn MI is better then I can get in China town Toronto. The vegan Buddha bowl was even better. If they can do vegan right. I cant imagine how the rest of the food tastes.
*First time writing negative review* Went there with my family today for the first time, unfortunately it was a total waste of money. The bread was hard and tasted low quality, it was mostly salad items in it, hardly any meat. On top of that when we asked for a cup of tap water, the counter lady was acting like I asked for holy water and then told me i need to pay for the plastic cup! However, the Indian server was very polite If you want to try authentic Banh mi I will highly recommend the Red Satay Restaurant, it might be $3 extra than this restaurant but totally worth it(high quality food)!
I bought the spicy chicken Bánh mì. It was missing few of the traditional ingredients like pate , cilantro & cucumber. Not a big deal it tasted very good. At least they have pho, Bun Bo Xao / Bun Thit Nuong ( Vermicilli noodles, pork/ beef& egg roll salad). I havent tried it yet. I appreciate you guys promoting our ethnic food. Keep up the good work. Im Vietnamese btw ;)
The broth for the pho has gone downhill. Tastes watered down and bland.
Visited today and grabbed a pork meatball banh mi and mint lemonade. Everything on the sandwich was amazingly fresh, with just the right amount of chilies to give it a bit of kick. The bread itself almost makes the sandwich alone; crispy on the outside but still somehow fluffy and sturdy enough inside to keep everything inside while taking a bite. The lemonade was the perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. I regret not getting the pate added, but Ill remedy that on my next order!
Friendly staff, but they were not very helpful, considering I mentioned it was my first time here. The menu was not very easy to understand as a first timer and did not appear to have lots of options. Also, was not clear on why they dont have any cheese. I dont remember what I got and I dont remember loving it. Overall, it was an OK experience, but I think this is probably just not my taste.
Never never eat horrible taste of pho and springroll, im asian food lover i try many different type of pho and springroll in different country, omg this is the worst pho and springroll i ever try, springroll is burn and taste like left over, i hope my husband dont get stomach problem tonight cause he very sensitive and cant tell the difference between fresh food and left over food, but for me.. i can tell right away this is not good, from taste and smell, Government must do inspection from this small restaurant indochine, pho GA taste chicken broth, nothing at all taste pho from vietnamese, lucky i buy small bowl give it a try and im dissapointed.
Disappointing little restaurant. Flavouring and texture is just off across their menu.
Yummy vegan options on the menu!
As a visitor from Ontario, Ive been coming here during my east coast visits for 10 years I think? Its by far my favourite grab-n-go spot in Halifax. Always nice to pick up a sandwich and a lemonade and head to Public Gardens to munch on it. Delicious banh mi sandwiches no matter what filling you choose. Owner is super nice too.
Excellent bowl and salads. Several vegetarian and vegan choices available. Fast service. But few seats. Ideal as a take-out meal.
The ingredients are fresh. It seems the Korean BBQ Bahn mi is the most popular dish in this restaurant. The pho was okay except for the fact that the chicken was dry. Im not sure if the meat in the pho was real chicken or not as another chicken dish was listed as vegetarian/vegan. That might explain why the chicken was dry.
This fast take out vietnamese style shop is fairly busy when we were there. Pho soup was warm and not hot as in most pho restaurants. This is a fast food take out version in a commercial area. Coming from a diverse city as Toronto and also been in Vietnam, left a little for desire. Sorry, Im giving you a two star and not a one star and giving you the benefit of the doubt on your location and clientele.
My favorite lunch place, fair prices for locally sourced ingredients. My favorite is the pork belly bahi mi, the favour from the pork belly works so well with the chills and other veg Highly recommend!
So good! Very flavourful, crunchy bread and sooo creamy. Get any of your banh mis with pate!
Incredible sandwich. Got the lemongrass tofu and I highly recommend it. Also got the mint lemonade and it s also very refreshing. I ll definitely be back here if I m ever in the Halifax area again.
Great soup!! Love iy here
korean bbq chicken banh mi was amazing
Great and wide array of vegetarian/vegan options.
Very good food. I was looking for a warm spicy pick me up on a rainy day last week. I got a noodle soup bowl and oh did it hit the spot. The service was good as well. Very fast. Not much seating, but with COVID I dont like sitting around anyway. I will say the food was for the most part on the expensive side (but with the price of everything else what can you expect), yet my small sized noodle bowl was a healthy portion and decently priced at under 10$. I was very satisfied with this establishment and I would recommend for any downtown workers looking for a quick lunch without resorting to fast food
We love Indochine, one of our absolute favourite spots in the city. Best Banh Mi around :) Keep it up
Delicious, cheap, and reliably good. Lovely lemongrass bahn mi, with a really nice spice. They make their mayo in house and you can get vegan mayonnaise as well. The pickled daikon is sooo good. I just wish they served regular bubble tea rather than smoothies but there are some regular bubble tea places nearby so I can t complain. Come here for a great meal!
Good service and a ton of vegan options, they always make me heart go
Fast service, reasonably friendly staff and delicious Pho. I now know what the hype is all about.
Pork belly Banh Mi - just awesome.
Lemon grass Chicken banh mi. All Fresh ingredients. Healthy food prepared in clean kitchen. Quick place to grab and go lunch. Few seats but are mostly empty to sit and eat.not ideal for group seating. Friendly staff. Will be returning for sure
Small, seating for 10. The Coconut Curry soup was tasty, the spring roll just ok. The wait time was reasonable. But why the one-use serving containers for eat in customers? Once again so much plastic waste. If I come back will bring my own food containers
THE BEST
Great banh mi, I love the vegan bbq tofu. Spicy and delicious!
Fast and excellent spring roll for a low price!
My friends were visiting from NB and wanted to try this place so we ventured by yesterday. I was not expecting to taste what I tasted. The flavors and freshness alone were enough , but the Korean bbq bahn mi I had literally took my taste buds on a journey I cant recall. In the words of John Pinette this bahn mi was so good afterwards I had thoughts about selling all my earthly posessions, pitching a tent out front, to just eat bahn mis for the rest of my days! Try it you wont be disappointed. Its like a religious experience!
One of my favourite counter service places in the city. Their vegetarian selection is impressive. I really enjoy the lemongrass tofu bánh mi and the BBQ bánh mi. I have yet to try the veggie balls but will next visit.
This is by far my favourite go-to in Halifax. Always delicious, with tons of vegan/vegetarian options.
A very good experience! The staff was very kind and my food was ready quite quickly. I got the barbecue tofu Banh Mi without chilies and it was delicious! It was very spicy for me but still had great flavour! Definitely coming back to try other vegetarian options as they have a ton.
Always great quality and amazing staff ! Best food even in a rush and being on south park prime location for anyone in the downtown area ! They uber eats too if you cant leave home.
Very good sandwiches, definitely recommend.
Delicious, healthy, affordable, awesome.
Wonderfully fresh food and flavor.
I ordered the lemongrass chicken banh mi. It was good because of the Chilis, but there were too many so ask for it on the side if you dont want it spicy. The breads gets soggy fast so eat it quickly. Overall it was decent
Great Vietnamese food!
I had an absolutely phenomenal lobster banh mi roll here. Simply top notch. Not super huge, but definitely a healthy amount of lobster meat for 8 dollars. Special goes on until the end of September...so they told me!
Super delicious, authentic and great tasting Vietnamese/Thai food. I ordered the curry with tofu and it was really good. The banh mi was also delicious and both of our orders came within 5 or 6 minutes. Definitely coming here again
Never disappointed here, one of the most interesting places to eat in Halifax.
When we dont know what to eat, this is what we want to eat. Tasty and easy. What else could you ask for.
I just stopped in for a quick bowl of chicken pho. The broth was very tasty and included a lot more chunks of chicken than I expected for the price. Service was fast and friendly. There is bar-style seating inside and tables outside. I took a taxi after lunch and the driver spoke very enthusiastically about Indochines bahn mi sandwiches.
Everything is simply refreshing!
Delicious, light and healthy.
The best bahn mi in Halifax.
Service with an attitude! Food quite bland too. This is a Vietnamese place run by hipster white people, so dont say I didnt warn you....
Love this place! I always get the Pho and spring rolls and it s delicious. It s always hot and ready quick. Also, pretty fair prices too!
Best sandwich I ve ever eaten right here. We ve been coming here for years. Service is great.
