This place makes me so happy, it's such a real, authentic, local little vibe. Way better than 90% of the bougie downtown spots. Annie is a real sweetheart, and the little diner aesthetic is so perfect. Great stuff going on here 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is a cute little breakfast place. The prices are pretty decent. I got the eggs Benny on special. - the portion size was on the smaller side which is understandable for the price! - the bread was homemade but unfortunately a little bit hard and lacking flavour - the hollandaise sauce was actually the worst I have had in a restaurant. It tasted and looked more like melted butter than anything. Thin and flavourless. - the eggs were done nicely! - blueberry jam was good. Overall I wouldn't go back but it was nice to try.
Found from a Google search as it was within walking distance from our hotel. Run by Annie and her husband, this place gives that quaint homey vibe. I think at one time would’ve been pretty good, but as the food wasn’t terrible it wasn’t the best choice. It’s a fixed and very limited menu and the menu is on a chalkboard on the wall. So unless you’re told, you just sit and wait to wonder where the menu is. A bit more communication would be best, like before they give you the food. Asked for fruit to be added to pancakes and was told it would be an extra side, which is fine. Normally this is a fresh berries or a fruit cup. Overheard Annie say to the waitress “that’s the best we can do” and look in my direction, but nothing was told to me. My pancakes came and literally a quarter of a sliced very small apple was placed on the side of the plate. More like a garnish and I wouldn’t have paid for a side of fruit if that is what I was told I was getting. Also be prepared in addition to the 6 things you could order, there are only 3 tables for 2 and 2 table for four. So the place gets packed and there’s no real communication about waiting or not waiting. People were outside googling other places to go.
Went there for a breakfast after reading some good reviews. Overall nice cozy place for a breakfast. However, food was OK.
Very warm and welcoming place, gives off the old home fashion vibe, and great homemade food, will return everytime am in Halifax. Prices are also great for homemade and fresh.
Annie is super nice. She is trying. I wish it were better, but it missed on lots of levels. It didn’t take long for the breakfast to unwind when the first cup of coffee was delivered, a whole carton of cream dropped onto the table and then taken back when the waiter said the coffee was messed up as there would be copious grounds on the bottom of the cup. The omelette was a veggie omelette unlike anything I have ever experienced. It was a salad in an omelette. Like cucumber, cabbage…. In an omelette? I was game. It was not good. The other order was two eggs over medium and one egg yolk was over hard with broken yolk. If you break the yolk start over? I don’t know. Orders the pancakes as a third dish and they were uninspired and flat with thickness like a crepe. The best part was the store bought syrup sadly. The homemade bread was as hard as a rock. Gosh I wish this review were different and if you read my reviews you will know I try to be both entertaining and accurate. This review doesn’t have a lot of platitudes for a reason. The place is super small and it seems that two of their tables are broken because people showed up and turned away because there was no room and only four tables being used at the time. The reviews were so favorable. I love local finds and one of a kind spots. But sadly to say, I have no clue where those reviews came from. This place is one to unfortunately pass up.
We had the BEST experience here. It was the most welcoming space. Incredibly delicious food. The best pancakes ever. Fresh scones, homemade bread, the eggs Benny was perfect. The coffee was divine and our cup was always full. The baked goods, the atmosphere, the people.... it was honestly one of my favorite dining experiences and it seems like a spot the locals love. And the people 💕 that's what made it so special. We will be back soon.
I had such a wonderful breakfast at Annie's, cooked by Annie herself. I had the special which was eggs Benedict with locally sourced bacon as well as a nice hot cup of coffee. The taste was great and the homemade bread made it special. I'm happy I chose to eat at a local restaurant and support her small business. While sitting in the restaurant I saw many locals coming to pick up items she had prepared. I'm happy about my choice for that morning's breakfast.
Update--- Once again, one of the best breakfast places in Halifax...and not only for the food. Great atmosphere and conversation yet again. I was in Halifax for business and glad I found this gem. Great breakfast, and great conversation. Ill definitely be back
Lovely little locally run Cafe. I had an omelet. It was delicious. We even got to meet Annie:)
Nice place and people!
A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food is delicious and the coffee is flavourful. I also recommend the homemade blueberry jam.
Great food
A very cute little lunch restaurant. The employees are very welcoming and warm. The food is simple but delicious! And their espresso coffee is worthy of third wave coffees. I highly recommend!
Best breakfast in Halifax. Come for the food but stay and return for the hospitality and general family feel. The homemade bread is outstanding. Annie is the best! Parking: Street parking and a parkade within a couple minutes of the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Has some colouring and books for kids. General atmosphere is very family/kid friendly. Have been bringing my young kids there since they were very young.
Just go get breakfast here! Youll see why. Just ask for your breakfast favorite. Some exact or close options will arrive.
We went here based on reading some good reviews which couldn t be further from the truth. When we arrived it was 28 degrees (you could tell because there was a thermometer there). The kitchen and dining area are connected which made all of our clothes stink. Even though there were only about 7 total tables we waited over 1/2 hour before anyone came over after we sat down. The people working there seemed miserable- I can t see why this would be enjoyable for anyone.
We arrived on a day when the City of Halifax was under a boil water advisory due to a mixing of untreated water getting into the citys water supply. We asked if the water was boiled as per the citys instructions. We were told the water was in fact boiled. We then witness the coffee pot filled from the tap and added to the coffee machine to make a fresh pot. I dont believe water is brought to a true boil in a coffee dispenser. We cancelled our coffee order. I am shocked that they would not follow the proper procedure to offer a safe product. The meal was at best mediocre. Eggs and bacon were average. The portion of homefries were very meager. I was expecting more from such a high rated restaurant . I would give this place a pass.
People of Halifax are too nice - that s why I m here to say this place is not as good as the reviews make it out to be. Very friendly, but unfortunately the focus should be on the food - and it s not that very tasty. Personally, considering the quality I find it overpriced. You can get much better deals that taste much better elsewhere if you re looking for breakfast/brunch. Please take this as constructive criticism because I would rather support a place like this than some big establishment
Cute little place. The bacon and ham was extraordinary. The home-made bread a little too dense for me, but all in all well worth the visit.
Great breakfast, great coffee and wonderful hospitality! I would definitely come back again!
We stopped here today on our first day in Halifax and it was the best choice for a delicious breakfast- homemade bread & jam and fresh ingredients in their omelette. The Halifax Fog was amazing too! Friendly staff and perfect location. Would definitely come back!
If you dont go there, its your own fault. Very good food and the staff was great.
The place is stuffy and stinky. Dont be fooled by the good reviews. The only good thing was that the waitress was nice and courteous. Food was below average. I got a veg omelette with fried potatoes as sides. Egg in the omelette was runny. Potatoes were also very ordinary. Overall, its pretty disappointing.
The pancakes were absolutely delicious and they were super lovely and accommodating for our small child. Totally recommend it!
Cute little place with amazing food!! Best bacon Ive ever had, too! Everything is made super fresh and homemade style! They knew all about cooking for celiac people, too, like my mother. Its always a relief when she can eat in confidence that she wont react! Both Annie and her helper Kahleah are both super friendly and knowledgeable! With beyond normal courtesy! I cant recommend this place enough you have to eat here!
This place is a total gem. The dining area is quite cozy but comfortably so. The food was genuinely made from scratch including the bread which was very good. The little salad next to my eggs Benedict was surprisingly good too, they could have gotten away with throwing down a spinach leaf or two but there was a good variety of tasty veggies. Good coffee too. Surprisingly for such a small place they have an espresso machine too. Prices are very reasonable. As for the one bad review I saw I can only imagine they were having a bad day, the kind where things spiral out of control. We ve all been there. The waiter did bring cream and milk to the table in the full containers, and put them back in the fridge when we were done. No waste that way, and it just went along with the homey vibe for me but I can see how it might lead to a spill. I also liked that the whole kitchen is open to the front. Overall, a highlight of my trip to Halifax.
The owner Annie is a sweetheart. I have known her since I was a kid, and she has always been amazing. Please, if you are around and debating on going here, do it. You will not regret it.
rly small cute place! excellent food! service with a smile!
Delicious food. Annie is super friendly. would definitely recommend. they take cash or card.
Love the food and the staff were so friendly. Would recommend
Annie s is the best spot for a home cooked breakfast or lunch! Annie does it all, including great conversation! Homemade bread and the eggs Benedict are amazing!!
GREAT SERVICE AND WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE
Annie s Cafe is a homely spot with fresh local breakfast served up in good portion. Annie is a kind and welcoming owner that treats her staff and customers incredibly well. I can t wait to visit Annie s Cafe again for a coffee or snack - outstanding atmosphere.
extremely disappointed by the takeout breakfast order. Both the portion ( there were two boring bread slices to go with it) and quality of the food was poor and still cost $13. Other than that, the smoke and smell there ruined my day. They need better ventilation system. We would not recommend this restaurant for breakfast or any other meal. Save your money and look for a better option elsewhere.
Very nice and intimate breakfast spot. Sits 8-10 people. Delicious, cheap homemade food. I highly recommend! The owner is lovely!
Beautiful little hole in the wall cafe. Excellent service. The owner always makes sure youre satisfied with your meal.
Absolutely loved our late breakfast / early lunch at Annies Place Cafe! Its a tiny place, but the food, the service, and just the general vibe made it more than worth the wait. Our server was incredibly attentive, and since the location isnt particularly big, you get a direct connection to the people preparing the food for you. I dont know why, but I found that very lovely. In a lot of restaurants, you dont have a sense of who prepares the food, but with Annie behind the counter getting the breakfast ready, it was that much more personal. The food itself was delicious: a wonderful brunch with eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast that was exactly (or eggsactly?) what I was looking for. The tea biscuits with homemade lemon curd and whipping cream were absolutely to die for. I wanted to take a picture of them, but they disappeared too quickly. As such, Ive attached a picture of the aftermath.
Most kind genuine lady Annie is. Delicious food and amazing service from her.
Literally a hole in the wall café. Dont be afraid, just go in!!! Annie will make you whatever you want to eat, and spinach puff pastries that looked really good but i dont eat gluten. The breakfast potatoes were so perfect i might have to go back.
Amazing breakfast! Home cooked! Friendly and welcoming staff!
Annie is a lovely lady, and we enjoyed chatting with her. Her place is also very cute and cozy, with a great casual atmosphere. However the food quality and the price do no match up. Our simple breakfast of 2 eggs, toast, bacon, and hash browns was $13. Having experienced much bigger and better quality breakfasts all over Halifax on our trip (Cheeky Neighbour, Robie Street Station), youd get better value elsewhere. I also wish that Annie herself would have cooked for us. She was training a waitress at the time, who overcooked the eggs and the toast, and only put 9 potato cubes on the plate. The bacon was excellent though. The girl offered to re-make them but we declined. I would say the meal warrants a $9 price tag. I also had a hot chocolate that was on the weak side, not all that chocolatey. Meeting Annie made up for much of the experience, shes a lovely lady.
I love Annies Place! Its one of the few quaint down east homemade delicious restaurants left in Halifax. Ive eaten breakfast, and had lasagna. Both were done perfectly (and I shy away from lasagna normally, but Ill be back for Annies lasagna guaranteed!)! The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and non-pretentious. Ive recommended Annies Place to friends and they love it too. If you are looking for delicious homemade comfort food, good coffee, and a chill vibe, I recommend Annies. I have lived in all of Canadas major cities, am a foodie, and I appreciate a real local diner Ill return again and again. Thank you Annie for your yummy menu and coziness...a real treasure in downtown Halifax.
Here you will find the best pancakes in the world in a small cafe. The staff is very nice and will make sure you feel welcome and eat amazing food.
We enjoyed breakfast at Annie s! Great breakfast food and reasonably priced. We enjoyed talking to Ann as well. It s a very small restaurant and there s nothing fancy about it, but you feel like you re getting a local Halifax experience. This would not be a place to take a group of 6 or more. Would love to return to Annie s if we make it back to Halifax!
Visiting from Ontario and while waiting for my checkin at the hotel, I decided to check it out. Service was quick and the food was great. Stuck around for a good 30 min afterwards just chatting with the owner and some regulars. Great little breakfast spot so welcoming and friendly.
The omelette and scrambled eggs were pretty flavorful and well cooked. The other food was terrible. Bread for the toast was dense and flavorless, and it wasnt toasted enough (no color) or buttered enough (barely any). The French toast was made with the same dense, bland bread, and it didnt have enough egg, so the texture was all wrong. The cinnamon roll was also the wrong texture, had almost no cinnamon, and for some reason had a small pocket of chocolate chips and coconut. The server was nice enough, though she brought us eggs that were ordered by a different table (and then didnt take them to the other table, but instead left them with us).
We love Annies and have been going for many years! Annie is a great host and the food is fantastic! Great coffee as well! Stop in and see!
We had a great breakfast, and didn t have to wait despite the place indeed being tiny (maybe 5 tables, two of which were taken by regulars it seemed). Annie is very nice, and greets everyone personally; our waitress was very attentive. Everything is homemade (including bread), and tastes truly homemade. The serving size is just right. Coffee was good too. We will definitely return if in Halifax again. PS: Note that the pricing on their website is quite outdated, and they do take cards now:)
It was ok at best.
A very small but cute place, we decided to sit outside because it was just too hot and cramped. Staff was friendly enough, but thats about all I can say was a positive. I ordered bacon, eggs and toast, and a latte. I was excited for the homemade bread. Right from the start, the cook seemed discouraged about how fast she could get the order out. Not a concern, were on vacation. But we didnt even get our drinks until after the food came. And that was the very first time Ive ever had burnt coffee. I didnt know what burned coffee tasted like until today. The toast tasted like nothing, there was nothing or very little butter on it. I wanted my eggs over easy, they came out right but my bacon was very overcooked. I was just disappointed and couldnt drink the latte. I felt like we paid too much ($40) and wanted to ask for a refund for at least the coffees, but I felt bad doing that to a small business. I just went and grabbed coffee at McDonalds after. Im sorry that I gave such a low rating, but I honestly dont think the good reviews are honest. There needs to be 1 more person probably helping out with the cooking, so the quality can improve and things dont come out overcooked or burned.
Tasty late Breakfeast in an authentic ambiente
Amazing food and people here. Feels like visiting someones home more than a restaurant.
Absolutely the best place for breakfast in all of Halifax!!
Everything here is prepared fresh and by hand. We can only recommend the Western Omelette and French Toast de Lux. The service is first class, the boss cooks personally and the conditions are very friendly. We really liked the small room as soon as we entered, it was all very comfortable. Both locals and tourists eat here. We can only recommend it, and a visit to the nearby citadel is also recommended.
A great little cafe serving home cooked food with really nice staff. The home made apricot jam with my pancakes was especially good. Food
Friendly atmosphere and great service!
Very nice diner. Very fast service. Food was very good as well.
Great place for a an all day home cooked delicious breakfast!
A wonderful experience in a cute hidden gem of Halifax. Despite living in the city for ages, this was my first visit and it was a true delight. Delicious, beautiful, but unpretentious food was prepared by Annie herself, quickly and served with a smile. Seating for a dozen or fewer, the shop has an eclectic collection of tables and chairs, along with hand-written chalkboard menu and decor around the shop - I found it all enchanting. 10/10 Would gladly recommend.
Excellent food, delicious homemade bake. Friendly host
Great ma pa breakfast place
Annie s is an absolutely wonderful experience. I travel a lot for work and this place is probably my favourite little hole in the wall for breakfast. My colleague and I spent 3 hours at Annie s enjoying Annie and Tings company. The food is delicious, home made and locally sourced. Annie has a quick sense of humour and will make you laugh and feel like your at home during your meal. I don t think I ve ever eaten so much for breakfast and left a place feeling so good. I had a smoothie, oatmeal with fruit, fresh scone and a full breakfast all for such a great price. My favourite part of this cafe is the welcoming atmosphere and you can chat and watch Annie and Ting while they prepare your meal. The paintings are all done by Annie herself and add to the home feel of this place. I think I ve already recommended it to 20 people since leaving Halifax yesterday. I personally can t wait to get back and have breakfast with Annie s again.
Homey atmosphere. Great breakfast. Its also wonderful to chat with Annie.
I have had food from here a few times. Always a joy to stop in for a fresh scone, or coffee cake with my coffee. Her daily specials are delicious and I leave with the feeling you get after visiting a good friend.
Lovely Homey vibe, friendly staff and tasty food. I recommend having breakfast here.
Always great
The owners are very welcoming and the food is amazing! Recommended!
We had walked over from our hotel. And found this lovely little place. For breakfast. The owner had cooked our food. To perfection. If you are looking for home cooking. You have to check it out.
i cannot emphasize how adorable this place is. i love small businesses and try to support them as much as i can and this place (coming from someone new to halifax) is definitely a hidden gem!! i had the french toast homemade and it was SO GOOD. all the regular locals in the cafe are so sweet too. feels like you re at home with family. it was so nice meeting you annie, you are such a wonderful woman! cannot wait to come back here and visit again! :)
Good quiet little breakfast spot . Great fish cakes, nice presentation and service.
Annie will make you feel like you are right at home! The menu is small but everything is made with care (and homemade bread!). Annie and staff takes their time to explain everything if you have any questions and Annie loves to get to know her guests. We had a great time dining there and got great recommendations for places to visit which turned out to be the best part of our trip. Would definitely recommend if you are sick of tourist trap food and prices and looking for a simple home-made breakfast and great Maritimes hospitality!
Very friendly place, food always fresh homemade. Great place to meet people from away. I
I really wanted to like the food more than I did. Owner is lovely, ambiance is cute. Coffee was pretty good. But pancakes were dry, French toast was burnt, and nothing was served with fruit or anything so it cost a lot for a little portion of bread. I had the special chicken jambalaya (which I m pretty sure had hot dogs in it?) and it tasted all right but was over cooked (rice was mushy) plus the scone or biscuit served with it was tough and dry. I d maybe give it another try if I were in town again, perhaps it was an off day? Still, disappointed the whole thing was $75 for two coffees, French toast, the special and plain pancakes with add on side of bacon (2 slices)!
Annie delivers a hearty breakfast with great bread, awesome cinnamon rolls, and free entertainment!!!
The food, service and atmosphere at Annies is outstanding. Annie is such hidden gem and you havent experienced real food until you eat there.
Don t go there upon positive comments! We did some days ago and we regretted it! You ll ruin your day with this horrible breakfast! The price is the same as the fancy and clean breakfast place with a range hood but that s a total shelter! That all bad smell and smoke will remain on you No whip cream, bananas, blueberries or any fruits on pancakes! Supper dry and burnt! Seriously this horrible breakfast for both of us costs in total 35$!! Without receipt! I needed to take medicine and I didn t have time to change to another place otherwise I would leave and didn t eat that burnt dried pancake!
Annie s cafe is very quaint and a great spot for a delicious breakfast. You won t be disappointed. The owner is charming, sweet, great with customers, and offers very tasty food!
Over many years this has been the place to go for a wonderful breakfast and even a more warm greeting from Annie herself. There are big chain breakfast places but in the long run you get local products here, from eggs, best bacon in town and homemade bread. Annie takes the time to get to know you and where you are from. She is the most down to earth person I have ever met. If you want a wonderful breakfast or lunch this is a place so read the positive reviews and ignore the negative ones cause they would complain about anything.
I have been there a couple of times with family and friends. I have nothing but good things to say about the food and the ambiance. Everything is fresh and tastes amazing. Excellent bread, coffee, desserts and people!
I go to Annie s as often as I can, I love all the food she makes & she makes me feel at home. The experience in this place is not of a restaurant but of a community full of love, joy & dedication. Annie s recipes are amazing, she brings out the full potential of enjoyment in food unlike any place I have eaten before & and I think it s because everything is homemade & every ingredient is chosen by her. Thank you so much Annie for sharing your food & experience with the world
Absolutely wonderful. The food, the service and the atmosphere make you feel totally at home. A hidden treasure in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia!
Just had a wonderful ham and egg sandwich with a delicious rhubarb square from Annies Place. She is consistently spectacular in her foods, would recommend her place wholeheartedly!
Small cozy place that was full with people enjoying their breakfast which is always a good sign. Annie greeted us with a smile and the food was just top notch. Home-cooked breakfast, bread and cinnamon bun- oh my! This is a must and we will miss it when we return to Manitoba. This place is a gem. Thanks Annie
Loved our experience here! In addition to the good food, we received the warmest welcome and most attentive service. The kind sir noticed we spoke French and came over making the effort to speak in French; it was very kind and appreciated. Would highly recommend you check them out the next time you are in Halifax! :)
Annie is wonderful! Great homemade breakfast and lovely conversation. Thanks for all your ideas for tours etc.
Food was amazing!
Amazing food and hospitality. A hidden gem, we had some of the best food in Nova Scotia here. The staff are so friendly. It feels very welcoming and homey. Annies homemade bread is really something special.
We loved our breakfast at Annies. Its a cozy cafe with great food -- especially their homemade bread. Annie was behind the counter, and she gave us excellent suggestions for other restaurants and sites to visit while we were in Halifax.
Our whole experience at Annies was absolutely wonderful. Annie took genuine interest in ensuring we enjoyed our food and finding out more about us. The food itself is absolutely excellent we had French toast and a Western. I would recommend this place to anyone coming through Halifax that wants a home cooked meal!
Amazing I definitely commend!
Excellent, fresh food made to order. Anna and her staff were very friendly and kind. Generously gave us fresh baked scones on the house. Small, not fancy but worth a visit. Go there!
I didn t have one, but her cinnamon buns look amazing
Amazing service, so friendly. Such a lovely local business, I recommend!
Best place in Halifax for a good homemade fresh breakfast. Also the best coffee in all of Halifax. Thanks to Annie and the crew for an outstanding experience. You have our hearts and we can t wait to visit again. Vegetarian options: They have a delicious salad and more options.
Had a wonderful experience at Annie s for brunch on a Saturday. Food was excellent and hosts were so kind. They gave us extra homemade toast and the service was fast! Will return next time we re in Halifax!
Amazing local experience! Food was delicious and prepared fresh to order with local ingredients. Really good coffee. All you d want in a breaky spot plus all served up by Annie herself with authentic Nova Scotian charm. Highly recommend!
Perfect little spot. The sort of place youd find hundreds of km out of town. Friendly and real.
Good portions for the price. It is a very cozy place and the staff is extremely friendly. I loved the Halifax Fog & the homemade bread. Very delicious!
Feels like your own mom cooked you breakfast. Amazing, welcoming and unassuming!!
Great coffee selection. Awesome breakfast and very friendly service
Amazing spot! If you re traveling and you want to see how kind and generous Nova Scotia people are, go to Annie s place!
We have been enjoying Annie s Place Cafe since we moved into the city. The staff is courteous and friendly. The food is delicious home cooking! Going into Annie s is like visiting friends, always a good time.
Beautiful experience. Been some time since i was prompted enough to write a review for a place. Annie herself is a lovely soul who treats everyone like family in her place and it genuinely feels like having food at home. Definitely check it out and you won t be disappointed.
Love this place!
Adorable little spot, owner was very sweet.
Had a boosting beginning of the day. Great food, reasonable price and wonderful service.
What a lovely experience! My husband and I went in for breakfast and were welcomed in like we were family. The service was amazing and the food was delicious! I ve never felt so at home and cared for in a restaurant before. Truly a great experience and definitely a must if we go to Halifax again.
Great little place for breakfast/brunch! Food was homemade and delicious, and the service was very personable. Prices were very reasonable as well.
This off the beaten path location was a delightful and affordable neighborhood gem. The Western Omelet was a good size for an excellent price. The owner, Annie, was delightful. I recommend for an all day breakfast experience!!
Fantastic breakfast in a quaint little place with great welcoming service.
Similar to others, I tried this place based on positive reviews, thinking it was a hidden gem. Food was alright, we left quite disappointed, especially compared to other breakfast spots. Would highly recommend looking elsewhere.
Was turned away at 1 because they werent going to serve anymore food - the listed hours are until 3 Wish I had the opportunity to visit as the reviews seem great, just wish business hours were accurate I dont know if it is customary but maybe give them a call before heading out to make sure they are operating at that date and time
I stepped off the plane at 745am, and I was at Annies for breakfast by 9am! For my first visit to NS since COVID hit, I took my dad and his partner here for an absolutely delicious breakfast (and coffee). Annie was working - she took great care in whipping up eggs, ham and toast for me, an omelet for my dads girlfriend, and eggs & bacon for my dad. The bread is home made and soooo tasty. I wish I could bring Annie & her breakfast back to Alberta with me!
The best cinnamon bun ever! What a warm and welcoming place! Thank you, Annie!
Came in for breakfast with my wife. We both got the eggs, bacon and home fries. The food and hospitality did not disappoint. The highlight was the coffee cake that was fresh from the oven. Would definitely recommend!
Enjoyed Annie s hospitality and down-home food very much. Great service, inexpensive, informal, wonderful.
Absolutely wonderful breakfast and experience. The owners sense of humor and welcoming demeanor is an absolute treat when dinning here. The breakfast- eggs, bacon potatoes an extra piece of ham and homemade bread was delicious and very fairly priced! My wife and my mother in-law ordered the french toast deluxe and loved it as well! A definite diamond in the Rough! The coffee was also delicious! Thank you for taking care of us so well!
Annie s Place was a breath of fresh air. The service was top notch and the eggs benny was delicious. They served us with kindness and humour. Felt like we were eating with family!
Update your Google
A fabulous environment for scrupulous breakfast. Great service and ambience. A good family restaurant. A definite repeat while Im in Halifax
Amazing place! Such a sweet owner!!! Big portion sizes and reasonable prices. She even gave us cinnamon buns!!
I wish I could have taken Annies back to Hamilton with me!!!! This is the coziest and most wonderful little cafe, where Annie makes EVERYTHING homemade behind the counter. We walked in as a group of 7, no reservation, to the warmest welcome! With fresh coffee and soon after, fresh breakfast with homemade bread! This is not the place for an intimate convo or a first date. Annie and other diners will chat with you, ask how you found her, ask your name! I will make a point of going back next time Im in Halifax.
An excellent home cooked meal and wonderful hospitality. The atmosphere was very welcoming. We hope to enjoy another meal when we return to Nova Scotia!
Great food. Good service. Home style. A well kept secret.
Cozy little spot, homemade bread and we were offered a fresh baked cinnamon roll on the house :)
Annie is awesome and all the food is real! ...and the coffee is awesome!
Breakfast was good and the service was very friendly. I had poached eggs (fresh and well prepared) with great potatoes and fresh, homemade bread.
Annie is so kind and warm
Very cozy and welcoming, amazing food and service.
Its like eating at your moms except its to go!
Was my home away from home when I lived in Halifax. Never found another place like it - Annie is such a special person!
Annies Place is wonderful. The food is great, prices are very reasonable and Annie is such an amazing host. I highly recommend this place.
Delicious fresh breakfast!
Food is amazing!!! Also the owner is super super nice! Would happily recommend this place.
A beautiful little spot, with all the warmth of a country kitchen. Homemade food and genuine friendliness.
What a great place! Cant decide which was better, the food or the conversation. I had such a lovely morning at Annies, hot blueberry scone, delicious homemade bread and strawberry jam. Annie is so nice, welcoming and friendly. I think I found my new favourite place, will definitely go back. Highly recommended!
Dont hesitate and go! Annie even had gluten free bread!!
Awesome little spot! Very friendly owner food is great and homemade (including the bread ). Prices are very reasonable!
It answers the question, what if Cheers was a cafe
Great little family restaurant, and by that I mean Annie works everything herself and creates a lovely homey atmosphere for her customers, both regulars and occasional guests. A wonderful experience dining here.
Homemade bread, double smoked bacon & real potatoe hash browns. Real food, not fancy inside, but conversation with Annie completes the home like feeling.
Friendly service, tasty food!
The place is very cosy.. anni was absolutely lovely and very informative .. the veggie omelette was average good portion and good value of money
We LOVED it. We re here for a few more days and will be going back for sure!
A great little spot near the public gardens and the citadel. The staff is friendly and the food is all home made. She even offered to make me more pancakes if I wasnt full.
Amazing. Personal Service, kind, real and AMAZING food. Really pleased with this place.
Fantastic customer service and food!!!! Everything was made from scratch from the hollandaise sauce to the bread! Every bite was delicious. Coffee was excellent, and we loved how they kept coming by refilling your coffee and chatting, making you feel right at home. We then got treated to a homemade cinnamon bun which is the BEST cinnamon bun we had ever had. Will be definitely coming back not only for the food but for the customer service! Thank you!
Love this place, Annie is like family, not only to us but to all her customers. The food is fabulous, homemade and always fresh. The place to go to be treated like royalty!
Great little boutique cafe, the owner was so friendly and amazing to talk with. Thanks so much for the food and hospitality.
Overall an OK place. Very small, awkward hours of operation. Hygeine was something to be desired. The kitchen area was fairly messy and dirty. Service was alright although given the location and place I was a bit taken aback by the use of the Square phone based card payment system. The coffee is very average not burnt or bland but nothing stand out ish. The size of the serving is good.
Just like at home! I came there every morning. Annie is so welcoming! A mother for her customers. Thank you Annie!
Wonderful gem for food lovers. Small independent kitchen preparing delicious, simple inexpensive meals. The owner sat down to say hi and offered us a complimentary sticky bun.
Great food, amazing atmosphere and great banter with Annie and the fellow guests. Great community!
Best breakfast/coffee place in Halifax! Everything is homemade on the spot! Always fresh, Annie makes the best bread Ive ever tasted (make sure you order some on your visit). If there were a breakfast heaven, this place would be in it!
We just had breakfast at Annies, and it was absolutely fantastic! Annie greeted our family with such warmth, and chatted with our three and five year old. She even had childrens books for our kids to read, which they loved. Our breakfast was delicious, and we took three cinnamon buns with us for the road. You can tell that Annie enjoys getting to know her customers, and we felt like family while there. Thanks for a great morning visit, Annie!
Annie does make sure everybody is comfortable and well fed. We got really good food and warm service there!
Great !!!!
Went for the food, stayed for Annie. Food was delicious. Annie was entertaining and personable.
Best place in Halifax for breakfast. Delicious home made bread! Bacon was awesome. Freshly cooked. The fresh local coffee is the best I ve tasted in the country. Highly recommended going there again and again. Annie takes the time to know you !
Great breakfast! The potatoes are amazing!
Very welcoming. Good breakfast. Enjoyed the coziness of the café
Went here 2 mornings in a row while in Halifax. First day I had the western omlette, on the second day I had the French toast. All were absolutely delicious. My partner had the eggs, bacon and potatoes- which he enjoyed for both mornings. The fresh bread is amazing and the cinnamon buns were so fresh! Annie is an absolutely lovely host- so friendly, and clearly loved by all the locals. Wish I lived closer so I could make this my local brunch joint.
Good, filling breakfast with awesome homemade bread and cinnamon buns. Coffee is great too! Thanks for the chats Annie :^)
I ve been a vegetarian for 12 years and this place has he BEST veggie omelette I ve ever had.
Great food, including home made bread, lovely friendly staff, and a laid back atmosphere. Love it!
Great delicious hearty food. Small family joint with outstanding service. Annie is very personable and kind, she goes around and checks on everyone and makes sure youre well feed and most important, happy! - make sure you dedicate time for this place, this is not fast food breakfast. Highly recommended.
Lovely service, wonderful food!
We just got to town and were starving. Googled best breakky spots in town and saw Annies Cafe. We were not disappointed! Annie was super friendly and cooks a great breakfast. We soon were chatting with everyone in there and we were all travellers and all happy to be there! Thanks Annie for the scone u sent us home with! We will not forget you!!!
We had a very yummy breakfast at Annie s! Home cooking at its best. Annie and her partner were friendly and lovely. Her scones were AMAZING! We both had French toast and left full and ready to hit the citadel. Thank you for your hospitality!
Long wait for simple eggs and toasts... egg was too cooked (asked for over easy) and toast was hard. Will not go back even though owner and waitress were nice and kind.
Annies Place Cafe is a jewel in the heart of the city. Annie is a wonderful host and makes all guests feel like welcome family. I would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful establishment and say hello to Annie, she is sure to put a smile on your face. Ps, all for the eastern omelet, (Ham and cheese) it was delicious.
Annie is a wonderful lady with great food for great prices.
Very cosy place, delicious food for early birda
Warm buenose hospitality & EXCELLENT food. Felt like coming home.
Annie makes you feel at home in what feels like her own personal kitchen. She asks you where you are from, tells some funny stories and then cooks you a delicious breakfast. We will keep coming back whenever we are in town.
Great place, great food! If I lived in Halifax this would be my go to breakfast place.
Very friendly, greeted right when we entered establishment. Food is outstanding ! Perfect blueberry pancakes... Wish I had found this place earlier in my visit
Best cafe in Halifax. Annie is super friendly,
Friendly service and great food served in decent portions.
What a fun little breakfast place and Annie is a delight. She greets everyone personally and spends a few minutes with all the customers to make them feel welcome. Dont expect a quick meal since she does everything herself. My eggs were perfect and I loved the homemade bread.
Delicious food, friendly service
Best place, most friendly person (Annie) super good food and coffee.
We enjoyed our breakfast....our food was delicious!!
Rare spot to find in Halifax and right by the citadel. Good homecooked food...my dad is a picky eater but he raved about the breakfast. Good smokey bacon and rosemary potatoes.
Lovely Cafe. Very personal and chatty. Great food and coffee. Overall a brilliant breakfast place!
Recently grabbed an egg and french toast from here for my daughter who was having an egg allergy test done. Had messaged the owner on fb asking if she could prepare it for us, she was very accommodating and had it ready for us to pickup and didnt even charge us for it. My daughter loved it and we passed the test! Thank you so much!
Annie is so friendly! Breakfast here was like having a meal with a family.
Have been going for years. Friendly owner . Fresh food home made bread and pastries.
Love it
