5659 Almon St, Halifax, NS B3K 0G1, Canada
We are an Eatery & cafe found in the heart of the North End Halifax serving brunch & lunch! Our cafe opens at 8am daily for coffee and baked goods and the restaurant kitchen opens daily at 9:30am. The space was created for the community to enjoy. Everything on our menu is made from scratch, and is designed to be fresh, beautiful, and delicious! Mimosa flights, caesars, wine and local Beer. Fantastic coffee & fresh baking. Patio available in warm weather.
Almonak is the best! Ian was great at accommodating us when more people showed up for our reservation than expected :) Service was quick and friendly, too! A great spot to get brunch in the neighborhood <3
My new eggs Benny location! My new favorite breakfast location. Well run restaurant! Staff simply flow well and seem to be well in sync. The atmosphere is amazing! Very comfortable and a great experience! Put this on your list try! Small greens with breakfast was new to me but made sense half way through my meal. Well done!
Almonak never disappoints! Great food, wonderful staff. With so many late flavours, it would be great to see a “flight “ like they do with the mimosa! The cinnamon roll late was a wonderful balance of sweet to start the day. Lots of free street parking; sometimes you need to hunt for it. But it’s there.
Great coffee. Great (and filling) waffles with a delicious coulis. Unique dishes that were more than enjoyed by fellow diners.
Great food. Big servings. Fast. Very friendly staff that take an extra mile with their service. Great coffee. The best breakfast! I ordered Big Breakfast and i got 1 free egg because the server said one of my sunny-side-up broke 😄. I just hope they give free refills of their inhouse brewed coffee to go with breakfast orders. Also, parking is difficult.
This place never disappoints! I’m lucky enough to travel to Halifax quite frequently for work and Almonak is always number 1 on my list! 👌 I’ve been dining here since it opened and am continuously impressed by this place! Such a bright inviting space and the staff knowledgeable, warm and pleasant. I’ve been so many times that I’ve had the chance to try many menu items and really enjoy the culinary creativity and local fresh ingredients. Those house made biscuits with the bennys though.. Wow. 🤯 All the Cafe options are also such a huge draw for me. This last time our table shared the chicken and waffles. Nailed it! Just simply love this little gem!! See you next time Almonak. I genuinely always look forward to visiting. Thank you.
Really enjoyed our first time at Almonak for brunch! The space is beautifully put together, with a lovely Cafè side and then dining area. Staff were all very friendly and trained well. The Thanksgiving Eggs Benny was a fun take on Benny that was very enjoyable. The French toast was rich and sweet, which was exactly what you wanted. It's definitely a good experience. The price point was fairly high, though.
We had a super brunch at Almonak!! The food was so delicious and of high quality. So glad we made a reservation, it was really busy. We ordered a hot chocolate for a little one at our table and the barista surprised us with a teddy bear ~ So thoughtful. I had the smoked salmon eggs Benny and hubby had the crispy chicken sandwich and they were both so awesome!! We also ordered the Mimosa flight - an absolute MUST!! Check out this fantastic restaurant, where you can dine inside or outside & we also recommend making a reservation. Thanks for the great service Matt and Barrett!! We can’t wait to go back!!
This is my favourite place for brunch. The staff are amazing and the service is outstanding. We hosted an event at the Almonak and our guests couldn t stop raving about the delicious selection of food and drinks. Great north end spot!
Great variety of menu items and the service is impeccable!
Food was good. No complaints there. Service was very slow. Long wait for cocktails, had to ask for cutlery, had to ask for refill. Had to ask for ketchup and hot sauce twice. No quality check. Food
This place is the best so yum
Stunning restaurant and and cafe! The wait staff was so kind and inviting with great food recommendations only topped by the taste. Our waitress Sabrina made us feel like royalty. Food
Dietary restrictions: The eggs Benny was served on a delicious gluten free house made biscuit upon request definitely recommend :) Food
Great service from Ian today! Enjoyed the Vegan brunch options and got great recommendations from the team. Cinnamon Bun Latte was excellent. Very cute spot. Ill be back soon!
Ian, our server, was great! would recommend
Good food and great service. Strong but bitter coffee. The real negative was the atmosphere. Tables jammed together, industrial decor, and incredibly noisy. No plans to return
I made an attempt at dining in Friday September 27 th at 11:54.I waited to be seated for around 7 minutes or so. In that time I watched a couple walk in after me and get seated immediately. I tried to get the attention of the waiter to let them know that I was in fact there and also waiting. The waiter didn t seem to hear me so I attempted to waive them over after they finished seating the preferred customers. Not once but 3 times we made contact and I was left waiving and waiting. I am actually genuinely hurt. I let the folks at the front know what had just happened and then I left.
First sit-down experience and they have great brunch. Friendly and attentive staff despite a busy spot. Lattes are consistently some of the best in the city - we often stop in for a to-go coffee. Vegetarian options: Avocado toast and salad were delicious. Oat milk latte game is perfection.
Great little brunch spot, though we had to sit outside as we were told lots of reservations were coming in and there were no tables, and the tables sat empty the entire time we were there. Waitress was very friendly and informative.
Had a great brunch, bacon & egg waffle had the perfect balance of sweet & spicy. Big thanks to the food & local travel suggestions from waitress at the bar.
I really enjoyed this place.
It is nice to see a trendy eatery in that part of town, the North End is really coming along. Three of us went there for a late Sunday brunch. The place was pretty busy and because of the loud music we opted to sit outside. Patio is ok, could use a bit more plants etc etc I find it amusing that another review mentioned the loud aggressive rap/hip hop music inside, due to nature of the surfaces in the interior there is nothing muffling the music. Doubtful you could have a conversation inside so we had to sit outside. This must be an on going issue since we when we mentioned it, our server refused to do anything saying they had already turned it down (!) and we were told the same thing as in another review when we mentioned it, thats the vibe, lol. Food was very good and presentation great. Service attentive. But sticker shock, over $100 for a fairly simple brunch. I ordered the lemonade with charcoal, great idea a black lemonade but at $6.75 for a small water glass it was too much. So maybe some light nu jazz and lower prices and we might come back.
I ordered 2 mochas and absolutely loved them. My brunch was fantastic.
The food was incredible the coffees were so great but the kitchen only starts cooking at 9:30. If youre there at 8am when they open like we were on our first attempt youll be disappointed. The food is so tasty though. The lemon berry waffle was too good.
Really rude people. Really rude!
Came an hour before closing and all they can offer was Banana bread. Literally called before driving over and the girl said to just walk in.... if they wanted to they could but they decided to close early
Excellent food, great coffee and fun flights. Lovely spot with great staff. Always make the effort to go when visiting Halifax. Awesome
I am always happy with everything at Almonak, especially the food! I always get my regular - the eggs benny with smoked salmon and a side of roasties and an amazing greens salad (with a light dressing). And, of course, I order one of their amazing bevvies - sometimes its a medicinal latte (lavender or turmeric) or a fresh berry juice. Today, I tried the Little Miss Sunshine fresh juice and I cannot wait to go out and buy my own juicer! It really was a burst of sunshine in my 2 glasses (couldnt just have one) - pineapple, apple, pear and orange. Delicious!
Had a wonderful brunch here with a friend, and would say that this is the best brunch in Halifax! Get the lemon charcoal mimosa, any of the benny options (there are 6!), I got the bacon one and it was perfect, also the French toast banana bread was a winner. Super chill California vibe, great service - highly recommend coming here for family gatherings, or to cure a hangover! Delicious menu, I would eat it all! Loved.
Amazing food, great prices, great atmosphere. Service was good. Would definitely recommend as a change up from Pure and Simpl
In love with the service - Sabrina was an absolute delight. Good food, great vibe!
So good!
Sat down for a family brunch and had a great experience. Staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. Would recommend this establishment for anyone looking to start their day off right with a wonderful breakfast.
Stopped here for brunch with a group 20 people and the staff handled it amazingly!! The Caesar flight was delicious and the eggs benny s are made with a buttermilk biscuit which is genius! If you are in Halifax and you don t stop here for brunch you are missing out!!
Great place! Cocktails were amazing, all made with a lot of care and fresh juice! Staff was very friendly and patient with the large group of us. Highly recommend this place for a lovely brunch in Halifax Food : 5/5 |
The drinks were absolutely amazing!!
So delicious!! We had brunch there with a very large party. They had very little notice we were coming and were still very accommodating and the service was quick! This is a great spot for brunch with friends and family! Thanks Stacy and Barrett!
Lovely spot for lunch! The mimosa flights are the bomb!
The waiter with the stash was cute.. Can I take him home:)
I had the pleasure of dining at this delightful breakfast and lunch spot this morning. Their in-house bakery truly elevates the experience. I enjoyed a salmon eggs benedict served on a tea biscuit made in-house, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Even the home fries were unlike any Ive ever tasted. Highly recommended!
Owner refuses to pay me. Managemnet walking ot the door during shifts, kitechen is unkept, and the owner is a clown with a big ego that cant get enough of himself. Lots of duties outside of job description. Was never told pay, promoted without training and had to refund customers put of my pocket for things I was never told. They need to be investigated and shut down. Lots of good staff but the owner is a devil who steals a portion of the tips. His name is Barrett, he is literally breaking the law but if you press him he would call the law. Very shady individual losing staff for good reason.
The food was poor, kinda reminded me of university meal hall breakfast. I would not recommend or return. This is a cute spot and the service was good but everything else was not great tbh. The food was overpriced and very basic. 25$ (30+ with tax and tip) for 2 unsalted eggs, some potatoes and a weird sausage. You are really better off eating at home or finding something nicer. The food is well below average even compared to other Halifax breakfast places. Also the minimum tip option was 18% thats crazy, 18% tip is not the standard or the minimum. The music was also very very loud for a breakfast/lunch place, was straining to have a conversation. I was really disappointed and didnt feel satisfied at all after eating :(
Had a breakfast there last Saturday. The scrambled eggs were undercooked. The bacon seemed like pre cooked frozen bacon. The Sauasages were bland, tasteless pucks more akin to a burger patty made by a drunk teenager. It was 34 dollars together with my Americano. The coffee was the best part of the meal. Service was good but the food was very over priced and honestly sucked. I think their vegan options and various egg Bennys are what they specialise in. If your looking for a classic Breakfast there are better options.
Our family went here to celebrate the adoption of our kids (we had a larger party of ten people) and we really enjoyed it! The servers were very kind and personable (we did have one mix up where a drink order wasnt placed - but these things happen with a large group!). Food was excellent - my wife had the breakfast sandwich and said it was delicious and one of our kids had the banana bread french toast which he ate VERY fast - definitely a sign he enjoyed it! I had the dirty rice which I unfortunately found to be too costly for what I got - the sauce in it was flavorful but it was really beans and rice with one egg for almost $20 and was underwhelming. Otherwise though we had a great time and they even brought our boys free dessert - such a kind gesture!!! Thank you very much! :)
I just had lunch at Almonak. It was on my list of places to visit in Halifax. I regret not going sooner. A very nice place! I chose a Smokef Salmon Benny. Very well served. But the highlight was Sabrinas special service. Very friendly and attentive. Nothing would have made sense if it werent for the care I received. Ill be back soon!
Eggs Benny with Salmon and Crispy Capers...delicious.
Nice air cool air staff was exceptional food beyond expectations Parking: Building construction around restaurant will be clear in a few weeks Food : 5/5 |
Yeah the breakfast here is incredible Im honestly surprised it has only a (still high) rating of 4.5. Everything was delicious, the coffee, the food -- staff was great. Definitely give this place a shot if youre in town.
Best eggs Benedict I ve had in years. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Sausage was so tasty. Staff were friendly and timely. Nice outdoor seating on a sunny Sunday. Will return on our next trip to Halifax.
Seems most reviews are very good. We must have tried this place on a bad day or at a bad time (1 hour before closing). Service was good. Food was not good. Coffee had obviously been sitting in the bottom of the pot for a while and was burnt. We had the Classic Breakfast. Sausage is a patty. It was way over-cooked (re-heated) and not eatable. Roasted homefries were over-cooked (re-heated in deep frier) and too hard to eat. The bacon was under-cooked. The over-easy eggs were over-cooked. A breakfast/brunch placed should be able to consistently nail a basic breakfast. Very disappointing.
Food was good although drinks were on the pricey side. Service could have been way better - was awkward and slow. Not what was expected.
Had a great breakfast here today. We didnt get the servers name but she was incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this gem of a spot.
Great service and atmosphere. The brunch was nothing to be talked about. For $20+ Benny you would expect better. Never seen a grey looking sausage. The hollandaise sauce was off and the eggs were not cooked like ordered. Potatoes were solid though. Prices inflated on almost everything and no free drip coffee refills.
This is the best breakfastt lunch brunch spot in the city. The staff are friendly and welcoming . Breakfast sandwich is next level...thank you Caroline!!
Great breakfast, not the cheapest option around but worth the upgrade occasionally.
really great breakfast food :o the service was amazing and the staff were really friendly!
Went for brunch today with a friend and had the feature chicken shawarma eggs benny - it was absolutely delicious! Friendly service & lovely atmosphere. Will be back! Dietary restrictions: Waiter asked if there were any allergies and the kitchen was careful to accommodate my friend s nut allergy.
Kept asking us if we wanted to order a drink without giving us enough time to look at the menu. Immediately asked if we wanted tequila at 10:30am. The server was rude, so we left, but still had to pay $8 for a Pellegrino we didnt want.
I would never come back! Highly NOT recommend. The food was ok and the coffee was good but what really stands out was the bad service. The server was rude right from the start, and we did not feel welcome. The only time he was a little bit excited was when taking orders and knowing we ordered more than 2 items. We even found egg shells in our egg benny and we initially didn t want to make a big fuss out of it as we knew it was busy and people try their best. However, the moment of truth was when we paid. We tipped $2 for the poor service. The server looked at the machine and turned around, saying to himself $2? Sarcastically, as if he was mocking us. He clearly criticized our tip, which means criticizing his poor service. Last time I checked, tip is always OPTIONAL. If you get poor tip, it reflects your own performance and service, not something that you expect, almost so desperately. As a former hospitality worker, I think the last thing a server would do is to express their opinions on tips in front of customers. What the server did revealed was his mindset of poor self control and just plain old GREED. If you re sooooo soooo desperate, you should have asked me for money, I could just give it to you. Talking behind someone s back is not cool. We understand the restaurant business is hard, but you absolutely CANNOT expect people to give you so-called sympathy when you didn t respect them, and you cannot expect people to compensate you for service below standards, not even the bare minimum. The only nice person was the barista at the cafe who listened to us and offered us help and was so kind every time we talked to him. Overall, our sunday morning was still ruined and I think it was such a waste of money. We were sick to our stomach when we left and wished we had never been there. It s funny how you want to support locals, but locals clearly don t care about you - all they care about is profit while everyone knows when you deliver good service money will flow to you. Absolutely PATHETIC. I think you could do BETTER, Almonak!
The food is not worth the price, and the service is horrible. I will never be back.
We saw a review and came Infor a quick breakfast before an appointment. The full menu hadnt quite opened yet but the host had options available and in fact spoke to the cooks and was able to open the menu. We both opted for breakfast sandwiches, my husband got the Spanish latte and I got the lavender latte. The lavender latte was *chefs kiss* - brilliant! The Spanish latte was just as good, nice depth of flavor. The breakfast sandwiches came with salad and fried potatoes. Although I was skeptical of salad with breakfast it turned out wonderfully, fresh, light and with a very nice dressing. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The breakfast sandwich!!! Great combination of flavors, sweet, sour, salty - really well balanced and very much unlike anything I have had locally before. Portions were large and hearty. Service was fantastic. In an area saturated with breakfast franchises, Almonak is a breath of fresh air!
Dropped in for lunch during Burger Bash. The signature smash burger and potatoes totally hit the spot. Ive been here for Sunday brunch as well, I highly recommend it.
My personal pain in this city is that not a single soul has an idea of what the specialty coffee is. So when I ve found out that Almonak uses beans from a NB specialty coffee roaster I was elated! We tried their cappuccino and filter coffee and it was absolutely amazing, finally a spot where I can drink coffee I ve asked some questions about their coffee recipes and it looks like guys really care about the quality, and they do try to correspond to the level of beans. Also special thanks for nice latte art! Besides delicious coffee it was quite uncomfortable for both of us to see a broken window taped shut and tables with peeling paint. I tried the food another time and it was good, coffee is amazing, but those things are giving very cheap. And oh I wish they were open more hours, I usually don t even wake up early enough to make it there
Kind service and wonderful atmosphere! Loved chatting with the sever and barista - they recommended the turmeric latte with a shot of espresso and it was the best latte I ve ever had! Such a clean and comfortable spot with awesome food too :)
We enjoyed every minute and morsel.
The food here is fantastic! One of the best brunch spots in Halifax.
One of my fav places to get brunch in Halifax, the food and the service never disappoints! What is disappointing is a review being left about their windows being smashed, this is outside the businesses control. As crime across the country rises we should be banning together to protect small businesses not writing reviews that will affect their livelihood.
Brunch was delicious and our server Nick was attentive and kind! The pulled pork benny special was a 10/10. Also enjoyed the turmeric latte. Reservation recommended as it can get quite busy.
Definitely a 5 star. Service was stellar and the food was awesome. I had the pumpkin French toast. Couldn t finish it all. My daughter had the breakfast sandwich and ordered it without the sides and still couldn t eat it all.
Such a delicious and lovely dining experience at Almonak! The food is fantastic, service is friendly and prompt, and the restaurant is clean and well decorated. Highly recommend the vegetarian options for the eggs benny, mimosas, and breakfast sandwich (honestly, theres no wrong choice with what you order). Cant wait to go back!
I was crunched for time and needed food before an appointment. Stopped in for something quick and the staff hooked me up with a fantastic breakfast sandwich and coffee for the road in no time! While it was a quick stop-in, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Much appreciation, and Im looking forward to going back for the full dine-in experience!
Went there with the family for Breakfast. The food, coffee, and service, were excellent. The price was just for what youre getting, great quality. Will come again.
I have had two incredible dining experiences here with my little one. When he was 4 months old our server was kind and friendly and I was able to hold him while eating my delicious brunch (they had house made bbq pulled pork that day and wow). The second time was dining with a 6 month old on Boxing Day. Our server got us a high chair, some avocado for baby, and delicious brunch for the family. Everyone was so friendly and kind and we enjoyed the meal together-despite the mess we made. This is the ultimate brunch spot if you want to enjoy delicious food, coffee, and feel welcomed.
The food was delicious and service was great! the place was busy and bustling and loud! I would highly recommend getting a reservation or you might get stuck waiting read throughly their reservation policy one of the members of our party canceled last minute and we were charged a 15dll no show fee
Excellent food, fantastic friendly staff. They have lovely cozy blankets! Do yourself a favor and get the Spanish latte!
Today was my time at Almonak and they did not disappoint. Even though we came during peak Saturday brunch rush, we were served relatively quickly and the attentiveness of the staff made it feel like no time at all. The BBQ pulled pork benny was easily the best eggs benedict I ve had in years, and our server Nick was excellent (good enough I m taking the time to write a review, which I seldom do) Will definitely be back, and PLEASE make the BBQ pulled pork benny a regular menu item!!
i would give the food an 8/10 but service was excellent
The food is extraordinarily good! The wait between the servings of coffee and food was too long (hopefully just because the place was really busy that Sunday). It was worth it anyway :) Food
A hidden gem! One of the best brunches in the city. Had excellent service from the talented staff (thanks Nick), creative & great tasting eggs Benedict dish (chef Jess) and received a warm welcome when seating (cheers Emily). A great spot & experience. Oh, and fresh juice!
Had an awesome lunch at Almonak! Nick, our server, was amazing super friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was great, and vibe was cozy. Almonaks got the winning combo of delicious food and top-notch service. Cant wait to go back!
best service at brunch Ive ever had! the chicken and waffles were to die for! love almonak!
The gentleman that greeted us today when we entered your establishment today was wonderful, we didnt catch his name but he shows what great customer service is.thank you .
Amazing food, drinks and service!
Love the amount of vegetarian options on the menu here. Compared to other brunch places this place has quite a few options. I had the Pakora breakfast as it was recommended by the waitress. It was good but probably not my favourite, however I would like to come back and try some the other options.
Lots of vegan options, nice staff
Delicious Brunch and great service!
Had a great brunch. Food and Caesars were perfect, highly recommend the garlic dill Caesar and the apple cinnamon French toast. The service was AMAZING, cant say enough good things about Lee. This is my new favourite brunch spot in Halifax.
The food and service was amazing. They were so so busy yet made sure our large group was well taken care of. We had 2 seniors with us so they made sure our table was accessible right by the door. No booster seats for kids but it was fine for our 2.5 year old to sit on a chair or moms lap. The duck Benny was so delicious as was the spicy Caesar that the waiter/manager recommend. There are vegan options too! Our toddler had a mid-meal meltdown and they came over with a free cookie! The service was really very wonderful, we called in advance to make sure our reso would be on time with our high needs group and they really worked to help us out and treated us so nicely while we were there. I would definitely recommend for the food and atmosphere- although it seems very popular/busy/a bit noisy so make a reso in advance for this in demand spot! Thanks for the great food service and memories.
Best breakfast in Halifax.
Good vegetarian options including real fake meats bacon! I got the tofu eggs Benedict and the tofu wasnt the best, but everything else was delicious! Good hollandaise sauce and coffee:) service was incredibly friendly, loved our server!
Really good experience having brunch at Almonak. Super friendly staff. You can either arrive and wait to get a table or you can book a table in advance on their website. We dis the latter as we knew it could possibly be crowded on a Saturday morning. Food and coffee was amazing, very well prepared and very tasty. I would definitely come back. The price isnt low but it matches the quality of what youre getting. Overall, we had a great time with delicious brunch
Absolutely AMAZING vanilla latte, I have to get one every time I go. The pakora breakfast is super tasty and the focaccia is delicious. Everyone working there is lovely; thank you for a wonderful experience every time I visit <3
Good food. WAY to noisy for a relaxing breakfast with friends.
It was ok but I got overcharged, and the service was mediocre.
Had a wonderful brunch experience on a holiday! Front of house did the best they could with seating, as we did not have a reservation. It was an enjoyable time with good brunch food. Spanish latte was a delightful start.
Wonderful brunch with Salmon Benedict and latte! Staff is also gentle.
Super nice spot! Loved the food and the ambiance.
4 of us went for brunch. It has vegan options. It cost 200$. So, not my usual thing but more an occasion. Food was great but portions very stingy for the price. Hard to chat as it was a tad noisy. It was packed, and people seemed happy ; I would love to know what the rent is for that place. I really would because I feel I ate a chunk of that while I was there.
The smoked salmon focaccia in 2022 and 2023 I did prefer the previous version... Ill pay the extra if its due to inflation!! Apart from that, their food is good, juices are amazing. Good service.
Food was average but they did accommodate some changes which was appreciated. Were coffee connoisseurs so we tend to be a bit critical so we found the coffee slightly sour (acidic) and lukewarm. Service was very good but the experience wasnt good enough for us to return any time soon.
Fantastic food, genuinely friendly staff. Though the food is good, the prices are insane. Easily the highest prices in HRM for this level of quality.
Food, service, and atmosphere are incredible, as always.
I ve been twice now and am looking forward to the next visit. Front of house is incredible. The team takes great care of you and makes you feel at home. They ll even laugh at your corny jokes! The food! My first time I had the chicken and waffles (available weekends only) and that meal alone was enough to bring me back. And it did, just as good the second time around. Make sure you make a reservation and bring your appetite!
This place was generally nice. I found the portion sizes to be a bit small and the food to be pricey, but the food was quite good. The outdoor seating is nice when it is warm out.
Dietary restrictions: Made it easy to order dairy free brunch Food
OUTSTANDING Service. Delicious Food, tons of options Wonderful Atmosphere Delightful dishes and mugs (sourced from Vancouver) All around amazing atmosphere Literally an absolute gem. SUPER lucky to have found this place!!!!!!!!!!
The best part was outside.
The coffee IMO was nasty and over priced at that. I spent 22 before tax on chicken and waffles, but sadly it only had 1 mediocre waffle and 2 small pieces of chicken. when Ordering chicken and waffle for $22 youd expect there to be more food and better quality at that. IMO if you want a good cappuccino theres many others in the immediate area.
EXCELLENT breakfast & coffee, highly recommend the big farmers breakfast!
Went here for brunch during the week and had a very enjoyable experience! Great staff and great food.
Staff was friendly and helpful and delightful, every bite of food was delicious, the mimosas were fun and unique, the coffee drinks were tasty . Everything was perfect and I will be back next time I m in Halifax!
Always great food and fantastic service.
This place is so amazing! Every time Im in town we go here for lunch every day and it never disappoints. The staff is absolutely awesome and the food is excellent. Be prepared if you get the cinnamon rolls its two huge cinnamon rolls. Highly recommend giving this place a shot if you are in the area. Parking: No parking at the place, you have to search for a spot on the street. If you can walk to the place, do it.
I think egg bennr in here is the best one in the all of the world!! you should try classic benny at the first te and tey againn of salmon egge benny!! midnight lemonade was also awesome! you should!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Caesar flights are amazing! And the service from Nick is incredible!
Such a great restaurant, food and atmosphere is amazing. Definitely worth a visit
Loved this place. Food was incredible. Fun vibe.
Disappointed. I had high expectations for a solid brunch, and based on reviews I should have. I wasn t greeted when I walked in the door, I should have used this as my cue to leave, but I persisted. I m in town for business, so unfortunately I m eating alone, and asked for a seat at the bar. I was seated on a stool in a corner looking out a frosted window, kinda felt like I was being punished in grade school. Please don t seat single patrons against that frosted window, it tough enough being a business traveller, and being seated at the bar allows for at least a bit of social stimulation. I ordered an Americano (it was quite good) but the woman who brought me my coffee said my server was responsible for bringing over the cream. I waited long enough for the cream that my coffee wasn t hot anymore when I got it. I finished my coffee and then had to ask to be served water, even though all the other tables had it automatically. The food was okay, I asked for soft poached eggs on my Bennys, one was perfect, the other was cold and well done. The braised beef wasn t warm but rather cool, so I m guessing it is reheated. The potatoes were meh, some were soft some were hard, like different batches were tossed together. The place was busy, so I can understand some wait, but it took about 50 minutes for the entree to make it to my table. I would gladly waited 50 minutes for a solid meal, but such a long wait staring at a wall by myself was anything but a good time. Maybe the service is better when it is quiet, and maybe the food is too. Maybe I was just there on an off day, based on the reviews, maybe. All I know is that the experience left me feeling unappreciated, which isn t how you should feel when you walk out of a restaurant.
I can t believe this place has any good reviews the food was awful (got eggs Benny and was the worst I ve ever had and $19). OWNER IS VERY PRETENTIOUS AND HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH. Asked if music could be turned down for my recently concussed friend, we were also with 2 other people and none of us could hear each other speak over the club music at 9:30am. The owner refused and said that s the vibe . Multiple wait staff came over to apologize and help out. Otherwise we would have left. Also read a review that said he followed a woman down the street after her visit. Another friend told us he got staff to argue with her about her allergy. Needless to say, DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN YOUR BUSINESS.
Absolutely incredible place!
This place is pretty cool in fact the atmosphere and the service was incredible. They have created a very fun and exciting hang out spot for brunch. However the food wasnt as good as I expected based on the atmosphere and the price but it was still ok
Excellent Cesar, food, and the server was so nice!
Amazing upscale brunch. Trendy vibes without feeling pretentious. Food was almost all made entirely in house (from bread to bacon I m talking) AMAZING options for veg/vegan pals. Coffee was fantastic. The Breakfast dessert cinnamon roll was perfectly warm, crunchy on the outside but soft and fluffy within. Only criticism is I wished they had served some bread or pita with the side of hummus, that s a bit of an oversight imo. if 4.5 stars was possible I d go with that but since it s not 5 still seems fair. Definitely will be back again!
One of best flat whites in town. Texture, milk, espresso Amused. Interior is great. Only tried coffee side so far. UPD 2jul2023______ Tried brunch. Bennies are delicious, finally after 1 year here found a place that knows how to work with taste and food textures. Extra thanks for peace of beet, that immediately reminded me oh home. Probably will become my favourite place for food!
Do not miss this place if you are in Halifax. Their food is to die for. Such delicious breakfast options with really good coffee. We went their twice in my three days trip.
Lovely patio on a great sunny day. Construction next door made it noisy, but still a great experience. Server was super friendly and helpful. Yummy fresh biscuit and jam with my fresh brewed iced tea.
Great food Caesar flight was fun, music was a little too loud but everything else was great. Vegetarian options: Great vegan options
Excellent eggs Benny and the coffee is much better than the standard restaurant coffee
Delicious but it didnt seem like great value for money.
My partner and I had chicken waffle and smoked salmon Benny s. Both were great and perfectly cooked. The chicken had a little bit more batter than expected. I loved the biscuit used for the Benny s. Atmosphere was nice.
Great brunch. Nice beer selection.
Got the Buddah bowl, it was fantastic but the portion size was severely lacking considering the price.

Loved the clean and modern atmosphere. The food was super tasty. I got the I got the salmon eggs Benedict. I will definitely come back to try other items.
Strange hours
I had been told Almonak was really good years ago, so a couple months I went with some friends; while the music was way too loud, the eggs benny was acceptable. But after going back since, I realized the food is wildly inconsistent; the huevos rancheros were incredibly disappointing. The food issues might indicate some kitchen turnover or poor management. The servers are generally attentive and friendly, its really the food and unpleasant atmosphere that make it difficult to recommend. I think Almonak fills an important niche in the food scene (not many brunch spots!), so I would love to see it improve!
Great brunch place!
Almonak was crazy good!! the food was incredible and the service was great too. I had the the Pakora breakfast and it was to die for, the strawberry rhubarb french toast was also amazing. Their coffee is also amazing!!
Food was excellent. Staff were very friendly and efficient, but we happened to be there when they were super busy. That meant a delay on service, but it was worth the wait!
When i walked in I wasn t greeted. I had to stand there looking around for 5 minutes for someone to come. When we were seated it was a dark corner with no light. We then ordered the blume beetroot and lavender latte and buttermilk biscuit which was okay. The waitress was always in a hurry and the whole place had such an empty hostile vibe. After seeing this place in The Coast voating, i had high hopes
Loved having brunch here -- mimosas were unique and tasty (borderline healthy as they use house-pressed juice, or at least thats what Im going to continue telling myself), and our meals were fresh and delicious. Salmon benedict was perfectly cooked and I loved that it came with a little salad in addition to breakfast potatoes, an husband had their special BLT with avocado and egg -- hes still raving about it a week later. Our server (didnt catch his name) was awesome -- helpful, friendly and attentive. It was a tad loud inside; some might find it too much as it was difficult a couple times to have a conversation. Glad we had a reservation -- highly recommended.
The music was too loud, we had to rush our food to leave sooner. The drinks we tried were okay. We found it to be bit pricier too.
Amazing place to eat at great atmosphere, service and food. Special shout out to Kat who greets everyone so warmly and makes the entire environment feel like a family vibe. She is positive, relaxed and makes everyone feel welcomed. She went out of her way also to re locate me outside as I have some hearing issues even during a busy time to accomodate my needs. Shout out to Nick who was my server twice and was amazing! Very friendly, professional and great! I think what makes almonak such a great spot is they have an amazing team which makes the entire experience so warm and enjoyable. Only critique is because of the popularity it can get very loud inside and feel a little close to other people.
Very much enjoyed the food and service
Finally made a reservation to try this local brunch spot on a rainy Saturday morning. Delicious twists on chicken burger and eggs benedict. Only downside was the acoustics. So loud it made for difficult table talk. Dietary restrictions: The chef and servers were excellent at accommodating food allergies.
best brunch ever! i don t think i ve ever cleared my plate like i did here. i had the classic breakfast & an oat matcha latte - it was to die for. our server was so kind, very informative and took care of us the whole time! definitely recommend making a reservation because it was super busy, (which makes sense). can t wait to go back!!!
Wouldn t recommend. Had a reservation, we showed up 5 minutes early and were told we were pretty early and needed to wait while they prepared a table. Yet the party in front of us were never asked if they had a reso and were sat immediately. What s the point of a reso then? We were offered a table outside and the table was filthy. All staff interactions were super awkward, wrong drinks were delivered, and food took 30+ minutes. Undercooked potatoes and just not great meals overall. Way better brunch places in the city.
A really cute local spot. Definitely not a quick stop on a weekend morning. More than a few times I ve waited over a half hour on food, but it s always worth it.
My wife was excited about the pumpkin-spiced french toast but we were both disappointed with it. It was a pumpkin-spiced loaf with too much syrup and cream on top. The 3 egg breakfast with the real fake bacon was delicious though. They had good service as well.
We had a reservation and it took them a while to seat us. Not a fan of the person working the door and seating the guests. The service was redeemed by our excellent server. He was friendly and very attentive. We took him up on his recommendations for food and drinks and had no regrets. The blueberry mimosas were wonderful. The duck confit eggs benny was delicious and the cheese and cranberry sauce paired so well with it! Would definitely recommend this place for brunch!
Had a bad experience here today. Medium poached eggs were undercooked and cold with shell fragments. Sausage is some Mexican spiced patty that doesnt compare to what they use to serve with their breakfasts. Received small discount (6 dollars) on my 40$ breakfast. Thats right 40$. Definitely not worth the money, especially if you cant eat half the meal.
No option in food , very basic. Ordered 2 eggs and potato and tea for 45$ ,that was surprising for what I ordered, waited too long for nothing, place was empty
Had the best brunch Ive ever had in the city.
I don t have a picture of my food because it didn t stand a chance! Went here for breakfast and you can tell every single ingredient has been hand picked! Great value, great atmosphere and the latte was the best I ve had in the city! Definitely will be returning!!
Local eatery. Staff is wonderful.
My favourite brunch in the city with top-notch service!
Been here a few time now. Every single time, the service was poor and slow. The food is okay at best but expect to pay top dollars. A coffee will set you back $6 (plus tips). Brunch $50 for one person. Ridiculous. Safe to say I will never come back.
I went in looking for a place to sit with a coffee and a pastry for 20 minutes while my tires were being swapped. It has been a while since I have been here, so it took a few minutes to figure out the cafe vs restaurant, but I was assured that I could sit in the restaurant with cafe fare. I got settled in and was brought a fabulous latte and perfect lemon poppyseed muffin. The waiter even brought me a bottle of water for my table. I whipped out my notebook to do a quick bit of work, intending to stay for 15 more minutes. Five minutes later the waiter came and asked if I had any intention of also ordering brunch, because if not, they may need to ask me to leave if it got busy. The restaurant was almost empty and while they weren t asking me to leave, I just left, as it definitely didn t feel welcoming. So the food was great as I remembered but I won t go back again any time soon. Perhaps they should change the sign to say just brunch, not coffee.
Best Brunch Spot in Halifax! Almonak never disappoints from their amazing staff to the most delicious Eggs Benny & Mimosas; I highly recommend!
Wow! My husband and I went for brunch this past weekend and we will definitly be back. I had the chicken and waffles and he had the farmers breaky- delicious! Totally reccomend! The server was attentive and the vibe of the restaurant perfect for a brunch date.
Visited Almonak twice on a recent trip to Halifax. Still dreaming of the braised beef eggs benny and the incredible breakfast sandwich. Both food and service were amazing and I love the vibe/decor. Will definitely be back next time Im on the East Coast.
This place is amazing!!! I ve been coming here for about a month now because this one server you have goes above and beyond and keeps me and my company coming back!!! Give a huge shout out to Blair!!!! Her drive, ambition, enthusiasm and amazing aura keeps me coming back!!! Thank you Food
I had the pleasure of being served by an outstanding waitress at Almonak. I think her name was Sam. Her unwavering politeness and genuine commitment to customer satisfaction were truly commendable. She consistently went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was enjoyable. Her dedication to excellence made our visit truly memorable.
My friends and I had SUCH a great time at Almonak! I had the salmon benny recommended to me by server Sam and it did not disappoint! Everything was so fresh and delicious. I think my favourite part of the meal was the caesar flight! Thank you Almonak and thank you Sam!
Ate here the other day with my family, the breakfast sandwich was really good, loved the bun it came on but definitely overpriced. The redeeming factor was our waitress though! Sam created such a fun and welcoming environment for me and my family, offered great suggestions and definitely made us laugh. Would go again on a special occasion or maybe if I noticed she was working!
Outstanding service by a rather attractive blonde waitress named Samantha. Food was good too!
Went to Almonak cause I heard they do cesar flights, it certainly did not dissappioint! I also tried their mushroom benny that was incredibly delicious but what stood out the most about my experience was my server, I belive her name was Sam! Went above and beyond and never missed an opportunity to make me and my guests laugh. Will definitely be returning!
Not only does this place have the best eggs benny in town it is the best brunch spot in town. the east coast even. one of our party ordered eggs benny , she doesn t usually like eggs benny, and she said it was the best eggs anything she s ever had. would recommend to all.
Kat is amazing!!!! Such a wonderful experience, will definitely return.
This place is AMAZING. Best brunch I ve ever had - and I have had a LOT of brunch. Eggs Benny - out of this world. It s going to be hard for anyone to make me go anywhere else again. ORDER THE BENNY! Food : 5/5
One of the best places for brunch in the north end! Such great menu options and drinks are always on point! Recently went and had Sam as our server, she was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating during a Sunday morning brunch rush, rocked it!
I had such a great first experience here! The staff were LOVELY. My server Kat was so attentive and sweet, with amazing recommendations! Will be coming back again real soon.
My partner and I had such a great dining experience at Almonak. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect for brunch. Thank you to our server Sam for going above and beyond as a server. She was so welcoming and friendly and we were very impressed with her attentiveness even when the restaurant got busy. She was so helpful when suggesting dishes and altering the dishes due to my food interolances which I really appreciated. We enjoyed our brunch here so much, we are already planning our next visit!
Great food and vibes. I don t normally order eggs Benny, but I always have such a hard time choosing so I just got what my friends ordered. Didnt regret it one bit. My server Kat was absolutely INCREDIBLE.
I had an amazing brunch here during my visit to Halifax. It was a really cute environment and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Sam was really knowledgeable about the menu and was able to help me figure out what could be made vegan which was so helpful. I can t wait to come back!
Let me just say, Almonak is eggtastic!!! Our waitress/server Sam really put the cream in the coffee, she was incredible, and well definitely be back.
Almonak is one of my go to breakfast places in the city! The atmosphere is lovely, and the food is wonderful, but the main reason I keep coming back is because of one of the Servers, Sam. She always welcomes you warmly with a smile on her face, and her service and attention to detail is top tier. Highly recommend!
Great location, even better atmosphere with friendly staff and even better brunch!
It is very rare I leave reviews after visiting a restaurant. But I need to for this place. I was on a city visit from Sydney ns, I have eaten in a number of places and always found the service to be lacking. This place nails it, you can have great food but with bad service there is no point. Today we was greeted by a guy (cant remember name but had tattoos on his arm, loved the different cow cut tattoo btw) He was brilliant, his attitude, professionalism and a hint of sarcasm was a great change to the normal here is your seat I will be back attitude you find in other places. All in all amazing food matched with amazing service and atmosphere. This server and this place 100% deserves great recognition. Will be visiting again very soon.
Went in last week for a meal with my grandfather. Our Server was so attentive and patient through our entire experience! Thank you Sam! Our family will be coming back for generations!
We had the cutest anniversary dinner here, the food was great but our service is what made it feel so special! Our server Sam was so friendly and attentive, she had so many tables and yet still never missed a beat! Thank you Sam for such a great experience :) well be back!
10/10 would recommend! As someone with dietary restrictions Almonak was the perfect spot to end up for brunch. Big thank you to my server Sam for helping me find the perfect meal and tasty drink I could enjoy worry free - very knowledgeable staff!
Went here with my friends for a Saturday brunch and overall, the experience was not fantastic. I will say, their food is delicious and as someone with specific dietary needs, they are very accommodating! However, the sound level in the entire restaurant was way too loud, and it didnt have to be. The restaurant was already loud as it was with the chatter of everyone eating, but it was made even worse with the unnecessarily loud music playing the entire time. My Apple Watch even alerted me that my environment was too loud, which is really saying something. My recommendation if you would like to go, is to go on a day where it wont be super busy, that way you can enjoy your food, the music, and some company - without getting a headache from having to yell to your compatriots the entire time. Vegetarian options: Mostly everything on their menu is vegetarian, aside from the obvious meals with sausage, chicken, etc. Dietary restrictions: Plenty of options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-sensitive people!
Definitely a great breakfast/brunch spot. Would be a decent date spot too. Food is amazing and same with service.
The Chicken & Waffles were the best I ve ever had- the perfect mix of sweet and spicy in the sauce topped with some pickled onion to cut through the sweet. Service was lovely and they always treat me like family.
Visited for the first time today with our toddler, arrived before the kitchen opened & staff was relaxed & accommodating serving our order from the cafe in the dining area while we waited. They were super kind to our kiddo and Micheal went out of his way with a cookie (thanks!!), also appreciated the change table in the washroom. A family friendly place with a great breakfast (try the sausage and potatoes!). Thanks! Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. Change table in the washroom & lots of kid friendly options on the menu.
A great experience. Extensive menu. Reservations recommended. A great experience all around. Coffee and Caesars were mediocre but the brunch was standout. I had the cured salmon eggs benny. The salmon was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly and hollandaise well executed. This was served on a biscuit, and while I could knit pick about the bread to topping ratio I enjoyed every bite. The potatoes while a little softer than I wouldve liked but were very well seasoned and soaked up and leftover egg yoke nicely. The veggies while not noteworthy added nice colour and some freshness to the plate. A great experience. I will definitely return to try other menu items. The restaurant was full shortly after opening with most patrons having reservations. I recommend booking ahead. Anticipate $40-$50 per person.
Love this place! Gingerbread martini was delicious!
I recommend this place without hesitation. We went for Sunday brunch, the menu selection was great but most of all, very flavourful. Waiter was attentive and courteous. All in all, great experience and will definitely be back.
