Amazing little chicken place! The food was very delicious. it comes in a metal industrial cooking dish, which I say is a pretty fun way to display the food. Got a nice cider with it and it was a great dinner experience. Staff is super friendly. The place is busy, and food gets served fast, but depending on the time you need to be lucky to get a table. There aren t that many tables unfortunately, but it s also part of the cute experience. Parking: There are a number if spots outside, but for multiple stores, so depends on the rush how easy you get a parking spot right upfront. Kid-friendliness: Baby chairs available. Not a problem with kids at all. Wheelchair accessibility: No problem. No stairs.

a true gem. i never liked brussel sprouts until having theirs, absolutely delicious. the hot chicken and nashville sandwiches always slap. can t go wrong with side fries with gravy and mac and cheese. never been disappointed here, a MUST try!

The food here is delicious and the people working there are COOL. When they came to take my plate covered in the tomato sauce coated napkins I had been using to wipe my filthy face and hands I was humiliated within an inch of my life. Outstanding.

Roasted potatoes were hard, not cooked enough and very oily for being roasted. The garlic sauce on the roasted potatoes is potent, like eating a raw clove. Chicken in the McChkn was not great. French fries were above average. McChicken from McDonalds tastes better and 1/3 the price. Likely will not try again.

Great food, quick service. Good beer choices from local breweries. Hardest choice is fries or brussel sprouts!

Love this place. The burgers are also gluten free and you can get a GF bun. The weekly specials keep things fresh with different interesting and unique burgers that cant be found anywhere else in Halifax. The Brussels sprouts are amazing; heavy on the garlic, citrus and parm while being soft but with the perfect amount of char. The rotisserie chicken is also quite flavourful and succulent.

Had some take out and it was by far the driest chicken Ive had in a while. The mango sauce and gravy didnt taste much better and the burger was equally disappointing. What a waste of money.

Best chicken sandwich around. Lots of variety

Chkn Chop has became a staple in the north end. Staff is fantastic, and service is quick. Seating is often lacking, but that s expected with a place of their size. When they first opened I would have given them a five, but I feel as if the quality has gone down slightly over the years. One thing I don t like, is that most of the sides are deep fried, including the Brussel sprouts. I used to really enjoy getting these but that last few times I have ordered them, they were too greasy, which is not what I want with my veg. Chicken also seems to be different, like they brine it, and the texture is a little different, not in a good way. If you want a poutine, best in HRM hands down. Unfortunately, it s not a place I frequent much anymore, when I used to once a month at least.

Update Aug 2024: the best chicken sandwich in the province probably (maybe best in Canada?) - a bit pricier than youd expect but youre paying for quality. Not sure why its called the McChicken - its nothing like McDonalds. They really need to change the name to CHOP burger or something unique. Brussel sprouts are still UNREAL. Must-go in the city. I *wish* it had biking infrastructure bc this is a great place to come grab a bite while on a bike. Amazingly good - the best is believe it or not the brussel sprouts, their house sauce is amazing. Do this for amazing results: dip the brussel sprout in the gravy. Amazing! All this and fantastic chicken too, at a decent price. Local brews available are well-chosen, and its one of the few places in the city to offer Salsa Valentina. Unreal. These guys know what theyre doing - space is a little slim and now theres usually a line, so plan ahead for pick-up or off-hour.

How can you not absolutely love this place? Best chicken in town, but the sides - oh the sides - almost good enough to not finish the chicken! The family meal is super underrated and anytime I have family visiting we do this - perfect for a picnic. I will die on the hill that CHKN CHOP is a culinary cornerstone of Halifax and I will recommend them to everyone at know.

This is THE place for Chicken Burgers in Halifax. I like the fact that their fries are freshly cut, not from frozen. The service was fast and very friendly.

This is my own personal review for the chicken Breast and Large fries. First the Chicken, Breast had too much salt/seasoning coating and looks like chef smashed grilled, like a smash a smash burger. The Chicken without the skin was cooked nicely Fries, way too much salt and seasoning, over cooked and soggy. I had to toss them to the food recycle bin that was a waste of 8.00 bucks. Unfortunate I had to give 3 stars. Suggestions, maybe offer a non seasoned version same applies for the chicken Staff and service, The staff was friendly and approachable which is always a bonus. The atmosphere, pretty dang cool whomever the interior designer was good job! Scott

Chicken is well seasoned and really good. The mac n cheese is also really good, especially with the onions. The last few times we ve been there the fries were beyond burned and we were surprised they d actually serve them. It s kind of ruined it for us so we haven t been back in a while. When the fries aren t burned they re quite good.

I honestly was very excited to try chkn chop. I have been keeping an eye on their weekly special sandwiches and their weekly special for this week really excited me. They were putting up Spice and Honey crispy chicken sandwich and who doesn t like contrasting flavours on their crispy chicken. Well I may havee went in with higher expectations. The burger was decent but that s pretty much about it. The bun was different from other places and it felt fresh. Lettuce and red onions were crunchy but the chicken in itself lacked flavours. It tasted like an unseasoned chicken dipped in some honey sauce but to call it Spicy Honey didn t do justice. I have given it 3 stars only because the service was pretty quick and the person taking my order was friendly enough to save the lack of flavour

The Nashville fried chicken sandwich is the best in Halifax. I loved every bit of it .. and it was my first time having Brussels sprouts and I loved that too. Staff was welcoming and the place was small and neat and just a good vibe I would say.

Damn fine food!

We just ordered a Mcchicken sandwich and my husband ordered the Special chicken sandwich. It had to be the worst chicken sandwiches we have ever had. It was mostly batter and overcooked and dry. Certainly NOT worth the price! We will not recommend this place and will not be back.

The staff here is great. It was like I stepped into a time machine when I walked in this place and everything was back to normal. Everyone was friendly and helpful and didnt treat me like I was an inconvenience. Highly recommended.

My first visit to this place heard so many good things a future Portuguese style rotisserie chicken sandwiches, poutine and fries. They also have craft beer, but they are renowned for the fried chicken sandwiches. I got the Nashville, which had a little spice to it along with the hand cut fries with steak spice one of the best chicken sandwiches I ve had in a long time. I will definitely be back. Our go to comfort food as of lately! Our first visit was based on a recommendation from a friend and we ve frequented since our first visit. We tried the buffalo and mcChicken on this visit with the beans. The beans were to die for, as always the servings were generous and food was delicious! Highly recommend you grab a cookie to go after packing up your leftovers, they are worth it!

Very nice service for takeout, but the food (½ chicken meal for two) was not good: too salty, too highly flavoured with various powders (garlic, onion, etc). All the intense flavouring overwhelmed what could have been nice tasty foods. Sometimes, less is more.

Just a Solid Chicken Sandwich, no complaints. The slaw is not so great. Im more partial to a Mayo based slaw so I was disappointed with the wet sauerkraut textured slaw they serve. Cant wait to try out more of the menu!

Even when its super busy they have the FASTEST service! Excellent staff, Nashville hot chkn sandwich has the perfect amount of heat and the fries are amazing. Absolutely worth waiting any amount of time for a seat! Bravo team, crushing it!

I ordered 1/4 chicken, potato fries and coleslaw. Half of the fries were burned. The chicken was great but the coleslaw was sour and with a lot of pepper. The service was good, really friendly.

The Nashville and the Buffalo chkn sandwiches were absolute perfection!

We found the poutine fries beyond normal grease....paided for something that shouldnt of been served. Beware of pools of grease at the bottom of your food. Throwing food in the garbage is such a let down and waste:(

I just finished eating the 1/4 chicken with roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts. It was absoultely amazing. Unfortunately I didnt take pics this time but I will definitely be going back so I will updaye the post then. We went in with 8x orders for our coworkers. The staff was super friendly and provided us with reciepts for all the meals, and no complaints about individual orders. Great food and service.

Great concept, however, watch out for the heat I like spicey food but this was not comfortable, I couldnt finish my meal. The cook was teary handed, inbghi case less would have been more .

Ordered take out; got the wrong order but they were busy and I didn t want to wait again. Ordered a chicken sandwich easy on the mayo, got some mess of queso and sour cream sandwich that was pretty gnarly and not something I would ever bother with again. Poutine was a solid C, the gravy was cruddy and there was waaay too much of it so the fries were just mush (we ate outside so it s not like they stewed in there). Lots of curds, more curds than fries actually which also isn t really ideal. So far not worth the hype or the $30 for my meal. I ll go back for the sandwich I ordered maybe some day.

Place is great but it s a little annoying how some items on their menu don t come in small sizes. I had the $13 CHKN poutine, Their portions are huge. I d recommend skipping breakfast and lunch altogether if you re coming here! Great service and food just needs some comfort size options. $9-10 for a small is perfectly reasonable! I regret finishing my food because I have a tummy ache! I don t like food waste.

Both times I have eaten here were absolutely fantastic. I love the sides - especially the creamy mac & cheese and the roasted Brussell sprouts. The gravy is to die for. Very homey food and a warm and cozy place to eat in if youre feeling lonely! :)

This is such a lovely little place. First of all, the food was excellent. Freshly made, flavourful sandwich - no frozen chicken patties here! Generous portions - next time Ill order a side to split with someone rather than a sandwich and my own side. Fairly priced for the quality of food you get, and I was really impressed with how creative the special sandwich I ordered was. This is an order at the counter kind of establishment which I didnt realize, but it was very efficient and the staff were helpful and patient while we ordered. I imagine the place would be great with a patio in the summer. The only reason I removed a star was for reasons of accessibility. The restaurant is very cramped inside and that could be a challenge for those who use a mobility aid; as well the washrooms have a very narrow door and no handlebars on the walls/reachable sink which does not accomodate for someone in a wheelchair. Overall, we will definitely be back!

I started to work in the area recently and my first stop after work one week was the chicken chop. Thankfully I was leaving to get home when I was because my mother in law ended up getting rear ended and I was driving directly in her path! ( she was perfectly fine besides some minor whiplash and fixable damage ) but point being our sandwiches were in the car for over an hour and we still ate them & they were AMAZING EVEN AFTER AN HOUR, we had a long day no way were we passing it up. Cannot wait to try the rest of the menu.

The poutine was excellent but the rest of the meal was so terrible. The chicken sandwich was extremely dry, the sauce was flavourless and greasy, the Brussels sprouts were soggy and sour, and the onion in the Mac and cheese over powered all the other flavours. The Spicy my husband got was soaked in an extremely spicy oil (we have a high heat tolerance and this was just pure, uncomfortable heat). It was expensive so we were very disappointed.

Spicy chicken sandwich was great, had a nice crunch too it and the spicy mayo had a nice kick. Roasted potatoes were a little too salty but otherwise food was great. Service was a little slow but that may have been due to the time of day. Restaurant is very small tho, seating is limited

Really good vibe in restaurant good for a date. The spicy was crazy hot but delicious as well as the mcchiic. I wanna say 14$ plus tax for just a chicken sandwich is way too much but everything seems crazy these days.

One of my favourite restaurants in the HRM. Not sure what is better - the Chkn, the sides, or the cookies! 5 star service along with the best poutine in the city. I ve never had a bad experience here. Always recommend!

Great overall experience; the staff was friendly, comfortable booths, decor, and music. Given a cold glass bottle/ jug of water upon sitting. Our party had hot chicken sandwich, the recipe is a modern spin on a classic sandwich, small fries which was a large portion and tasted like Lays salt & pepper chips, and poutine made with real Quebec cheese curds. Ive wanted to try this place for months, but never have. Randomly decided to try it today. I got the weekly special, which was a jalapeño cheese chicken bacon sandwich, and I got fries alongside it. Came to $19 before tax, $23 after tip. Thought for that price is better be good, its better than good, amazing. The chicken sandwich was huge, and the fries, though looked burnt, were not. They were perfect, in texture and flavor. Staff was friendly and the service was quick. Its expensive, but they lived up to the hype, will definitely return again someday.

Well its been 5 years since I first went to chkn chop. Still doesnt disappoint. Its a little spendy but still solid.

The location is ok. There are lots of free parking . Decorations and layout, although, in my opinion, that the restaurant should be classified as fast food. The decorations is modest and nice. The space is small and can fit small groups. That makes this place unique . Waiting to be seated, my experience, we have to wait for 20 minutes to get seated . I understood that the space is not meant for tables serving. Time to get the order. It was really fast. Beyond expectations. Cleanliness, from my experience, the space is cleanliness is within expectations. Food, the good, was rich, delicious and tasty yamy. It is well cooked and prepared, and the food presentation was good . Prices are affordable and reasonable. Staff are friendly and respectful Conclusion I am coming back for sure.

Food is perfect. It shocks me how delicious and moist they can make chicken .... And that spicy salad dressing is incredible.

CHKN CHOP offers generous portions at a fair price. The hot chicken sandwich stayed true to the Quebec classic, while adding real cheese curds. The chicken was tender, the gravy thick, and the bread fresh. Would highly recommend for a quick bite as the service was fast and friendly.

You might feel like a thief if you have dinner at CHKN CHOP. A half chicken and two small sides is plenty for two people, and came out to around $36 including tip and tax; an unreal deal for delicious food. The service is also top notch, on a slow night you can usually pick up your food in less than 30 minutes from calling it in. A consistent staple in the neighborhood, if you havent made a trip I highly recommend making it a priority.
