Great little diner with speedy service and delicious food I ve had chicken n waffles all over North America the southern US included It is a bold statement but this is the best version I ve ever had Not to greasy but perfect crunch and flavor to the chicken The texture of the waffle was spot on for sopping up the maple syrup and the hot sauce wasn t overwhelming Anchor coffee to boot and you leave happy

Good diner food, friendly service and reasonable prices. The place is popular and sometimes theres a wait to get a table. They make their own hash, which is delicious.

We ve been coming here since sept 2023 and always have a good experience and great tasting food. Unfortunately this time around we weren t greeted at the door at all, no one asked us how many were in our party and never mentioned how long the wait would be. Just wish more communication was lead at this time.

Cheeky is my favourite brunch place in Halifax! Ive tried multiple things on their menu but ALWAYS go back to the smoked salmon and potato waffle. Highly recommend!!!

The food here is amazing, its all very, very delicious and fairly priced. The only downside is everyone knows it and it gets very busy, literally lines out the door kinda thing. No fault of the staff but the place just isnt big enough. But dont let that stop you because its so so good. Chicken and waffles are to die for

Vegetarian options: Huevos rancheros Food

We had to wait quite a while for a table, like at the doctors office. Then they wouldnt put tables together so 7 of us could dine together. So we were split up into 2 groups at opposite ends of the restaurant. Weird. Food was very good, and we were flexible. But it was weird.

The place was nice and they had nice stuff on their menu but the salmon egg Benji I ordered had a bunch of cracked egg shells in it which made my experience very disappointing. I thought it could be only a couple at first but as I kept eating it the number of egg shells I had in my mouth got worse and I had to stop eating. When the server was picking up my plate I nicely let her about what happened so they could be more careful with the next customers. I find it very unprofessional that the server still charged me full price. Usually when this happens, the restaurant either puts a discount for apology or bring a dessert or something but they did nothing. I was expecting a more professional approach from a restaurant like cheeky neighbour. It was my first and last time.

Food was amazing (and filling), especially for the price. We got there at one on a Monday and no issues getting seats. Vegetarian options: Good variety and options for both vegetarians and omnivores alike. Parking: Limited number of spaces available dedicated to the diner but lots of options on side streets as well.

My son loves the chicken and waffles here, and my husband and son also have gone here together and really enjoyed their meals. I plan on coming in for brunch when I m next in Halifax to see my son. Great service and food quality with loads of flavour. I ve now had breakfast here and it was fantastic!

The service was excellent as well as the atmosphere however the bacon with breakfast had way too much smoke infused making the bacon not taste like bacon at all. The smoke overpowered the bacon.

Bangin breakfast, prompt service, cute and comfortable atmosphere.

We had breakfast, waited in line for about 20 minutes but it was well worth the wait! All the food was excellent and made there. Toast was fresh, fluffy and light. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the staff were friendly!

Our new breakfast spot (alongside The Bistro). Probably the top brunch place in HRM. Great atmosphere. Had to stand in line. Inventive and tasty food. Very satisfying. We had smocked salmon on potato waffle and basic breakfast. Going back.

Awesome food awesome vibe

Heard great things about this restaurant and it didn t disappoint! We got salmon eggs benny and big cheeky breakfast. Food was absolutely delicious. Homemade sausage patties and thick cut bacon. Service was a little slow even though not many people there. Definitely will be back!

Been here a few times and the food is amazing. Eggs Benedict are delicious with different combinations to choose from. The chicken and waffles are so far, the best Ive tried in Halifax! The crunchy batter on the chicken is seasoned perfectly, the syrup has a little twist, the waffle was a little soft and soggy, but everything else was amazing!

What a great way to cap off our round trip of the East coast that began and ended in Halifax. Lesson learned? If you are planning to come here for breakfast and have a flight to catch, get here early. Service was good even though it took about half hour for our food to arrive. We ordered the big cheeky, classic cheeky, and avocado toast. We were offered a complimentary refill on our coffee while we waited. As for the food, one word: WOW!! By far one of the best breakfasts we had on our trip! The bread was buttered and toasted to perfection. The hash brown and sausage patties are definitely house made and very tasty. You could also see that the bacon is not something from a package you would get from a supermarket. Our daughter could not stop raving about the avocado toast. The Anchored coffee is definitely bold and just what we needed to get our morning caffeine fix. High quality food at reasonable prices. Were glad we found this gem instead of opting for the run of the mill breakfast at the hotel we were staying at literally around the corner. There was a still a line up to get into the restaurant as we left shortly after 10:30am. Highly recommended but get here early if you can!

Really great mom and pop themed diner! I got the chicken and waffles which was delicious Loved how sweet and spicy it was all at the same time and the hash browns were seasoned to perfection. Overall a really great place to get brunch!

it s a busy spot but i don t mind waiting for good food! the food was pricey, but the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. my only qualm is that the server was surprisingly standoffish. maybe he was having a bad day, i am not to sure but the only time he was nice to us that entire experience was when we paid and tipped. i will probably visit again because it is a well-loved spot, but that was an interesting experience.

We always make an effort to stop at Cheeky for breakfast when we visit Halifax. The food is amazing - chicken and waffles is one of our favourites. There is normally a line to get in on the weekends but it is totally worth it! Also, the food is very affordable.

This review is based off of my first meal. Chicken and waffles. I have been looking for great chicken and waffles since Ive moved to Canada from the US. Cheeky Neighbour has done damn well. Will definitely be a repeat customer. Their CN hash tasted great as well especially with some hot sauce. Dont forget to put hot sauce and syrup on your chicken!!!!!!! Update: Nothing has change!

Some of the best brunch in the city! Try and go during a weekday, they are less busy than the weekends, they are usually pretty packed all Saturday and Sunday, understandably so. My favourite dishes are the smoked salmon waffle (wont find anything else like it in Halifax!) and the breakfast wrap with bacon. They have cute merch as well, my boyfriend wears his Chicken & Waffles hat all the time!

AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE KOSHER DIETARY PREFERENCES! We placed an order for a Cheeky Classic with the avocado option and explicitly mentioned that pork should be excluded. However, we received a Big Cheeky, which includes both avocado and pork options. Despite our attempts to get their attention, the staff avoided eye contact for an extended period, resulting in the food becoming cold. We were served cold food without the pork, which was not what we ordered. Additionally, the bill included a charge for the Big Cheeky meal, which was an error on their part. When I brought this to their attention, they only deducted one dollar from the bill and still charged us for the pork-inclusive meal. As a result, we ended up paying $15.95 instead of the correct price of $12.95 for the Cheeky Classic meal. I brought this up to my relatives in town who had actually recommended this place, and they felt the need to apologize on behalf of our family. They said they are no longer recommending this place nor will they be going there themselves. TL:DR Youll get pork even if you say you dont want any, and theyll still charge you for it. Dietary restrictions: Kosher

Quite possibly one of the best breakfasts Ive ever had. I got the smoked salmon on potato waffles. Outstanding. If you come on a weekend, be prepared to wait. Tables are first come, first served. No wait list. The wait, however, is well worth it.

The veganator burger is SO good, and has me coming back time and time again. Their belgian waffles are also deliciously fluffy, though a little more whip cream and compote on the side would be nice. Overall, their selection of vegetarian/vegan options are all really delicious. This is one of my absolute favourite spots for brunch in Halifax, though make sure to get here early as the wait can be long on weekends and they don t take reservations.

Every part of the experience at the Cheeky Neighbour is excellent. So, instead of waxing poetic, I will keep this rather boring. You will be delighted by your visit here. It will be worth the wait. No need to overthink it.

HORRENDOUS service. The owners need to take note of the consistent theme among low-starred reviews -- your training for staff is NOT working. We brought visitors with young children to the Cheeky Neighbour for brunch and it was a mortifying experience. Firstly, standing in line for 20 min without a single server ever coming over to explain the process, indicate how long the wait would be, or greet us (despite just watching them standing at the bar staring over at us). I went to take one of the kids to the washroom while we were waiting and immediately a server came over to me saying it was a high traffic area and I shouldnt be walking up and down. Um, excuse me? We could not have been made to feel more unwelcome. Once we were seated, our server was completely inattentive. One of our party had to literally stand up and flag down a serve to get coffee refills after 30 min because no one would make eye contact with us. I do appreciate that the kids food came out quickly but the amount of time we had to wait for the adults food was insane and kinda defeats the purpose for the kids sake. So yes, the food here is delicious. It is so unfortunate how let down the kitchen staff are by the front of house staff, who made us feel incredibly unwelcome and as though we were an inconvenience. Despite how good the food was, I would never return given what awful service we had and would certainly NEVER recommend this place to other families or visitors.

Delicious food and the price was super reasonable

We went for fathers day, it was 8:58, it was still closed. We were waiting in a line and it was crowded, so my husband decided to wait outside to give my more room to the other older customers who were waiting inside. The waiting area is small in size and can only accommodate so many people comfortably. My husban therfore decided to wait outside until they opened the door. When they opened the door I told the host there were 4 of us and that my husband was outside. She said she needed to see him in order to seat us and started to seat the people that were behind us in the line. I repeated he was just there and again she said the same thing and keep letting people behind us seat! I had to wave to my husband and show her where he was so she would believe me and let us in so we didnt missed our table. After that we had to wait 40 min until getting our food. Not coming back!

A line up on a random weekday for opening. Had big portions and loved the sweet potato mixed into the hash. Coffee refills was brought over by the server but they were swamped so could only visit once.

Easily one of the best, if not the best spot for breakfast in Halifax. The service, atmosphere, food, and prices are amazing. Weekends are really busy, if you want breakfast there, I recommend lining up about 15 minutes before they open.

Best brunch food in town hands down! The food is well flavoured and the plating is beautiful. The menu combinations are fun and exciting . It s so much more than the regular greasy spoon fare you see at every other place in HRM. Their breakfast selection really spans the globe. I cannot wait to eat here again.

Chicken and waffles!! The best

It was my second time here and I probably wont be going back (but I might)! The food is mediocre and nothing too exciting. I think they need to make their menu items a little on the healthier side with healthier ingredients. Ill keep going to my other fave brunch spots in Hfx.

Ranchos Huervos (sp?) are the best!! . Amazing spot. Couldnt stop thinkimg that it used to be the Blockbuster Id go to while I was there though. Lol. Food : 5/5

A Lovely Brunch Spot! I visited the Cheeky Neighbour Diner for brunch last March while staying in Halifax for the weekend. My mom, cousin and I ordered the panko french toast, avocado toast and chicken & waffles respectively, and we all enjoyed our meals. The portion sizes are HUGE, so we all had leftovers (which I don t mind), and the coffee was delicious!! Our server was super kind and attentive, and after hearing that we were in-town to tour Dalhousie, she told us about her own experience as a Dal student and provided some helpful insight. The space is very clean and cute, with a laidback vibe. Overall, we had a great experience and when I m back in Halifax I would love to return :)

The food was good. The servers are extremely unwelcoming, unpleasant, and made me feel like I was bothering them. Can honestly say it was the worst service I ve ever experienced.

Delicious Chicken & Waffles.

We have been here at least 4 to 5 times since they opened, but today was maybe the worst, a total dissapointment. The service was not welcoming, we felt like the server doesnt care about customers at all. The benedict had no taste, just a full of mayonnaise taste from the hollandaise sauce. The bacon was over cooked and cold, couldnt chew. They used to be better (we know) and it looked like they stopped caring. We were very dissapointed.

10/10 I love this place! Portions are huge, cheap, and the foods unreal.

We waited ~30 minutes to get in, so dress warmly for the wait. Food was great and worth the wait. We ordered the potato waffle with smoked salmon, and the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. The only critique we have of the food is that the eggs Benedict are served on some crusty bread that is hard to cut through with the knives that are given. We will be coming again!

I love how Cheeky Neighbor is famous for their Saturday lines. The food was definitely worth it though. Wait in line here you wont be disappointed

One of the best breakfast places ever (I used to live in Mtl and currently in Toronto which have great diners themselves. This place was better than most). Only issue was the slow service. Server brought the wrong drink, for another person, she forgot to bring the drink and they were out of several items

Food was good (had pork belly breakfast sandwich with potato/sweet potato hash browns) and the place has a good atmosphere. Theres also parking which is a plus on Quinpool.

Seldom do I have positive comments about a restaurant. However, I give props to this one because of not only good quality ingredients, but they know how to season their food properly so its simple and taste good. On top of that, the prices are actually decent. The ownly downside is the atmosphere, its a cramped corner on a busy street. The restaurant hopefully will be ready to have their standalone location with bigger space as its well deserved.

The most delicious breakfast place I ve been to in a while. Fresh, local and just the atmosphere I love. Only thing that would make it better is having some espresso coffee drinks, but the drip coffee was great. I will definitely be returning

Ive been to Cheeky Neighbour 3 times now, and it has yet to disappoint! Every menu item is made with care, precision, flavour. I would dare say that Cheeky Neighbour is the best diner in Halifax! Servers are always nice and accommodating. The atmosphere and music really bring everything together. Will definitely be coming back for more and more and moreeee! ps. the prices are amazing for the value youre getting!

Literally the BEST breakfast we had during our trip to Halifax. Absolutely delicious. Portions are well sized and fairly priced. Food is phenomenal.

Came here for brunch and it was quite busy, I like the open kitchen and the atmosphere. The food came out quickly and was great, I thought the pork belly sandwich was amazing and the home fries are nice and crispy and not really soggy in the middle so that was great. I did not love the iced coffee but the mojito was yummy and our server was overall very good! Would definitely recommend coming here.

My partner and I are visiting Halifax from out of town and we love this place so much, we came two days in a row and ordered different things just so we could try more from the menu! We tried the smoked salmon on potato waffles, chicken and waffles, the big cheeky and the Bibim-not and they were all DELICIOUS. Service staff was so friendly, so quick, and accommodating. It was a bit busy when we got there, had to wait for some time, we were offered the worst table in the whole place, I understand that the restaurant wants to maximize seating capacity, but have a table at the back of the store between the bathroom and kitchen door right next to cleaning supplies is not a good choice. The food was good and the service was friendly. I just felt like an outcast where I was seated.

The food here is super delicious! Most of the diners have lost their taste since covid but this place has not! I ordered the Smoked Salmon on Potato Waffle. My siblings ordered the Chicken n Waffles and Breakfast Skillet. Everything tasted amazing! I fell in love with my food! The coffee was great but their freshly brewed Iced tea was fabulous! Parking: There is a free parking area right next to it when you turn right. Its like a big alley way. It has The Cheeky Neighbour name on each of the spots. However, they are limited. You can also find paid parking on the streets nearby.

Best brunch in Halifax, and Ill fight you on it. Never gone and been anything but 10/10. Highly recommend and have taken many visitors here after a Rager of an evening for the recovery the next day. Even took my wife here on her birthday.

The best scramble Ive ever had. I had the one with kale in it and got the homemade sausage on the side. Excellent. Kitchen was a little slow, but it was worth the wait.

What a lovely place!! We discovered it on a rainy day just looking for a breakfast place. We it the jackpot!! The food was incredible, the service simple and perfect. The prices were must lower than expected for the quality of the food on the place. The simple waffles were perfect, the salmon with the potato waffles absolutely gorgeous. Vegetarian options: Choice of vegetarian meals. Also choice of gluten free meals. Kid-friendliness: Children s meal available.

The best breakfast place in Halifax the food was so tasty and our server was so good. The chef 10/10 it was wonderful watching him prepare and plate the food he absolutely knows what he is doing. I cant wait to get back to Halifax to have breakfast or lunch there.

I really wanted to love this restaurant as I had heard some positive reviews. On a Saturday morning it s busy, so had about a half hour table to get a table. It s a pretty small space so not unexpected. We ordered two plates of the chicken and waffles which we were really looking forward to. I would say they were okay but nothing so great as to tempt me to return. Our iced tea was forgotten about and when I asked about our drinks they said they never had iced tea which wasn t mentioned when we placed the order. So overall, it s fine and the other customers seem to love it, but once is enough for me.

1. Pretty nice tasty restaurant for your breakfast. 2. You need to be waiting at least 40 mins. 3. Price is not bad (not expensive and not cheap) 4. A lack of parking places. 5. Food tastes and quality are beyond the average rates of other competitors. 6. Although cook or chef are busy, the quality of food is good. However, it takes at least 30 mins to get food. I recommend this restaurant but you have to expect pretty slow service. I am only satisfied with food.

Great little location. Parking can fill up fast, but the food is well worth it. Enjoyed a Carnivore Benny with bacon & hash with a mango mimosa and could not have been happier. Benny was great and the hash is probably the best hash I ve had at any brunch!! Staff were also very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be returning on my next time in Halifax!!

So glad we found this gem of a breakfast place. My fiance and I were looking for a place to hide from the rain and we couldnt have asked for a more comfortable place to rest and dry ourselves! Food was tasty (I especially loved their butter toast ) and plentiful, coffee hot, and clean/cozy establishment. I would come back in a heartbeat

What an incredible spot! I was there on September 18th at around noon for a late breakfast, and the young man who served me was just lovely. The food was amazing, and was served very quickly. I highly recommend the skillet. I added sausage and avocado, and it was so good! Large portions and very reasonably priced. Everything was hot and fresh. 10 out of 10!

I would have rated 4* had I not tried other dishes at my table. But every dish was severely under-salted. Mine was good because I also had a lemon wedge, but I tried my friends sausage, and their pulled pork, and I was underwhelmed and even disappointed. Yes, we can add salt. But the distribution and taste are not the same. I expected more from our Cheeky Neighbor.

If you like mom and pop type restaurants or that hole in the wall type find, this place is for you! The Cheeky Neighbour has great food and very friendly staff. Various options from a small breakfast to ones that can keep you going until mid day. This is a restaurant I highly recommend!

The chorizo pulled pork eggs benedict with sausage patties on the side was easily one of the best meals Ive had anywhere. There wasnt a speck of food left on the plate when I was done with it. If you go during peak time, expect to wait to be seated and to receive your order, but damn is it worth it.

I d give it 10 stars if possible. It s not your typical brunch place. They really serve different ingredients, not the stuff you find in the grocery store. Highly recommended.

Excellent eggs benedict (or eggs Benji as they call it). The hollandaise is creamy but with a little acidity, perfect. The homemade sausage is on par. Really good plate. The small fried potato cubes are not my preferred cut, but hey, I really dont care since everything is so good.

Our server seemed a little scattered but the food was excellent.

So many delicious veggie options! Warm and comfortable atmosphere. I cant wait to go back.

Great spot with the family. Narrow place but it was back and never felt crowded. I ordered the pork belly breakfast burger with hashbrowns, my wife ordered the Huevos Rancheros and my daughter (6 years old) got beacon and toast. The food didnt take long. We had a coffee and when the food came it was delicious! Everything made from local ingredients and only costs us $61 including tip. Highly recommend this place Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options Parking: Cant get into the parking lot if you are coming into Quinpool rd. The best way is to take a left onto Vernon St, then a left onto Pepperell St. The lot is left in between a house and the hotel. Kid-friendliness: My daughter loved their bacon and toast. They dont have a kids menu

THE BEST BREAKFAST PLACE IN TOWN !

We went for brunch last weekend and this might be my new favourite brunch spot. Their menu looks awesome for lunch too but we wanted breakfast food so we each ordered the big breakfast plate with poached eggs and a side of hollandaise since I was super hungry but was also craving the Benny I saw someone order while I was standing in line for a table. It was sooo busy but we only waited about 10 minutes to be seated and ended up with a cute little nook at the back of the restaurant. Great vibe in this place and the service was exceptional. The food was phenomenal. Everything was absolutely perfect and I was actually full when I left which I find it difficult to find places that ll provide enough food within one dish so I don t have to order multiple sides. I m stoked to return to this place and maybe give their burger a try. I bet it s delicious!!! Parking: It wasn t hard to find an empty spot in the little alley next to the restaurant even though it was incredibly busy.

The Cheeky Neighbour is an amazing little Culinary Gem, and Chef Michael Bradleys spectacular, yet very affordable menu simply bursts with flavours, and plenty on your plate. Im from PEI, but cant wait to go back. PS, the Chicken Kale Cesar Salad I ordered, also supplied me with another two meals at home. Love love loved it!! Overall decent. Id go back for the waffles, but I would not wait 40 minutes again. Plan accordingly. Huevos rancheros very plain. Instead of the corn tortillas better toast on the side. Cozy interior, and offers interesting dishes.

imagine going to a breakfast/brunch restaurant at 9 am and they have no avocados, no beef patties for burgers, no waffles for chicken and waffles and no smoked salmon for bennies. Their excuse was we re busy and the restaurant was literally almost empty - why open if half your menu is out?

We went in at 9 AM and after we sit and try to order they said: theres no avocado, salmon or beef... we are so busy and the place was almost empty We left. Do not recommend at all

One of the best brunch spots in Halifax, they have an amazing selection of food that is mostly locally sourced. The service is always great even when there is a line out the door. I had the Chicken and Waffles and everything was cooked to perfection!

I came 3 times on 3 different days. The first day they were out of salmon, but there was a huge line out the door so I assumed it was just because they were busy. Clearly it s a popular place. I didn t want to wait, so we came back the next week. They ran out of hollandaise sauce, avocado, burgers, and their bibim-not dish, which I assume was a lack of pork belly. We intentionally went on a slower day to avoid the lines, so that was very surprising. The food we did have was great. It s very much worth getting if it s available. However, if you re eating something that needs to be cut, drink most of your water first so that the wobbly tables don t end up sloshing it everywhere. Because I wanted to try the burger (which they were out of previously), I came back a third time. They were once again out of avocado and salmon. That was alright becasue all I really wanted was a cheeseburger, but since that was a kids menu item I wasn t allowed to order it. I left without buying anything else. This is a case of a restaurant having fantastic chefs, good servers, and downright incompetent management. Do with that what you will I guess.
