Food was really good....and our server was great...love the ambience and the whole vibe of the place was really interesting.... definitely gona come back again.

I am sharing my experience with all rasa staff members and the customer they have. First of all, i invited my family friends for my husband birthday, we all took day off for this celebration and we went to city after long time from town of kentville, we tried RASA restaurant we confirmed them by calling about table and ask for permission to bring our own liquor. They said okay, after that we went and sit order some hard drinks along with soft drinks. They took long time to serve us and denied for opening our own bottle, that was purchased only because they said we allowed. Secondly, There was only one staff member indian girl who serving to another guest and giving us excuses that we are short staff today. I agreed that only one person cant handle but why did you open the restaurant if you dont want to spend money on your Labour. After sometime, we are keep waiting on our food that we order, order came we tasted , taste wise its okay but the food was not hot it looks like someone made it and server forget to give food on table! O well this was third time when i get disappointed from first, from miscommunication secondly, from labour shortage and third time, from food. I thought about sharing my experience with you because i dont want you to suffer what I suffer on that big day! They really ruined my husband special day and time! I wish i could gave them 0 star in reviews but i cant and my all family friends disappointed on this date nov 27. I tried to find time to write this big review to let u guys know what type of service they are offering, not worth it we just wasted our time and money over there.

Delicious food

Absolutely delicious! We got takeout and were very impressed with all of the dishes we ordered. The naan was divine. Will definitely be coming back.

So we went today Oct 22 ard 7.30 pm for one of our friend birthday dinner . I am recommending this restaurant to all of my friends . Been there alot of times never had disappountment before . But today , This was my worst experience . Service was great but the food was without flavours . I Understand , Some people dont like spice but as a indian restaurant u should have the the flavors everything is not about spice . Been a chrf myself i can tell breads were not properly cooked or half cooked . The Malai chaap was not cooked at all feels like coming from can . Daal makhani and kofta was tasteless . Sorry , I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone . Idk what happen to quality of food even i talk to server . Dont forget the flavours of india which describes the restaurant . Brithday dinner is spoiled . Never wrote any review on any restaurant before but truly disappointed . Spend 200$ worth of food without taste and properly cooked .

On my visit, I found. 1) Rasa offers a great service. No doubt 5 Star. 2) Rasa offers great atmosphere. 5 Star. 3) One of the food ordered was Tandoori BBQ items, which was disappointing. The mix grill was not put in Tandoor or on BBQ Grill. Chef s performance was a disappointment. 0 Star for this. Good service and atmosphere cannot make up for the under performance by Chef.

We really enjoyed our experience at Rasa! The food was very good, they are very conscientious about dietary restrictions and the place itself is beautiful and welcoming. To try! Vegetarian options: Yes - several clearly marked on the menu. Dietary restrictions: The gluten free options are clearly marked on the menu and our waitress had a good understanding of the precautions to take. An excellent experience all round.

Fantastic service, delicious food!

Not sure why people leave such bipolar reviews. The chicken dishes are so tender. Better than most of the Indian places I have been to across the continent. The decor is Definetely on the fancier side, which I enjoyed.

Not at all satisfied with the visit. The service was so slow plus the girl serving us was not happy at all. She was not treating us good. Literally got our order after sitting for 1.5 hours, though we ordered just one dish. Totally disappointed with this. Never gonna go back there and will not recommend to anybody. The quantity was not sufficient for even two people and the prices are tooo high.

The name of Restaurant is Rasa means Flavours or Essence but when we tried there food we miss the flavors in all dishes. We order Shahi Paneer too much safron (Kesar) feels like eating rice pudding (Kheer). Mushroom Methi Malai too much cream not properly cooked, frankly speaking the way of looks of Shahi paneer and Mushroom Methai Malai seems that cook didnt put any effort to make delicious food. Chicken Tikka Masala had no taste..The restaurant having nice ambience but they forgot food play the major role to run the restaurant. I dont know after eating the food what they type of Rasa cooking to there customer. I hope they should take their reviews by the customer seriously to improve the quality and taste of the food. Please dont waste your money.

What a jewel of a restaurant, beautifully decorated and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and each dish we ordered had complex flavour profiles - the Baingan Bharta was the best I ve ever eaten. Their signature ginger-lime drink was tasty and oh so refreshing.

It was mine favourite restaurant but this time i am very disappointed by the quantity and quality as well. They literally serve two pieces of chicken for $14.00. I will not be back again.

The food is great, the atmosphere is great too, but let me go ahead and say that the service is out of this world. We were served by Deep, and she made us feel so much at home. She was exceptional and probably just an authentic and great human being , that serving tables came naturally.

We had a an overall great experience. KIRAN was awesome in terms of giving us the best recommendations and the best service. KIRAN was very friendly, courteous and warm and we definitely had a great time because of her exceptional service. We recommend Rasa to anyone who enjoys Indian food.

Terrible experience. The restaurant experience proved to be what we had heard from several sources. Discriminative behaviour, utter lack of customer service, arrogant staff. The restaurant thoroughly ruined the entire family dining experience. Discrimination against a 5 year old is uncalled for.

This hidden gem is recommended to visit amazing traditional food and the flavors and taste is astonishing. I recommend that anyone that dose go out to eat visit the delightful restaurant and the staff are amazing and very polite and well trained and mannered. I also recommend to get the chicken takki with saffron rice and the chicken Biryani. If your in Halifax dont be shy and visit this restaurant.

This used to be a good restaurant. Not any more. We were there for lunch this week. We are not new to Indian cuisine. The Maharaja platter ($38) was very disappointing and made us feel cheated. The chicken was dry and rubbery with no flavour. We will never go back nor will we recommend it to any of our friends.

This used to be my favourite Indian restaurant, I even left them a glowing review. Now with Besharam, I have to say there are much better options in Halifax in terms of both flavour and price. I recently ordered butter chicken, naan and rice for $50 (which is very expensive for 4 pieces of chicken!) and the food has had a shocking decline in quality. The pieces of chicken were chewy and slimy. I was scared to eat it because it felt undercooked. It was pretty flavourless and tasted like pure tomato sauce. The naan was also hard and tough. Just a really disappointing experience and $50 down the drain

This is a gem in downtown Halifax thats worth the visit. Friendly and helpful staff and great food. The atmosphere is awesome whether youre taking a date somewhere or going solo. Tip : The Lamb with chicken gravy and naan is amazing. Vegetarian options: Lots of options

I just visit there and they charge for 8$ for 2 glass of water and their menu has not listed the price so beware from such a people don t visit their restaurants never ever again pls save money

It was wonderful experience in this restaurant. My first visit in this place. Amazing vibes and super excellent service by Sukhi. She is such an adorable and kind human being. The staff members were very rude and the manager was so arrogant that he was not even listening to the problem and gave racist remarks. Worst customer service found in Canada. The manager should be fired. If you are looking for good Indian food then there are so many in downtown area.

RASA : Definitely not the flavors of India. There are many amazing restaurants in downtown Halifax which will provide you with good quantity and quality food and also great customer service. If you dont want any of the above things then do visit RASA to have a experience. The staff and manager were ill-mannered and talking to me in very rude tone.

Since I cannot reply back to the review I posted earlier so I have attached screenshots of my review and the owners response. Reply to the owner- Hey, I knew that it would not be worth even a min to write a review but I thought I should give it a shot maybe someone can really bother to know that what exactly happened,thats why I specifically mentioned that before anybody reaches back please make sure to check everything. But after a customer puts a review instead of even asking what happened and trying to know the whole situation you came back with a fake scenario . Now since you asked for it lemme highlight everything for you- That day when your staff came to take our rest of the order( which was not placed on uber) he told my order was cancelled. I went to that guy at the front and asked him about the same and he said yes he had cancelled it and uber will refund the money. Now to Highlight it as I know you wont read this again - I NEVER ASKED HIM TO CANCEL MY ORDER. If I am capable of placing the order I think I can cancel it too, I really dont need your staff to do that for me. I knew he must be lying that is why I was sitting there I talked with uber and they said if restaurant had canceled my order, uber cant do anything. So I went back to that staff and he said he will send me my money back by tomorrow once the manager arrives. So basically I didnt had to ask your staff to cancel my order just to get harassed for my money for almost a month. After everything happened I never even wanted to come inside RASA but since your manager never got back and I had no word from him, I waited for couple of days and then called your restaurant your manager said to give him 2-3 days to figure those out, and then again I never got a call or email from him so I called again after 1 week and again asked to wait for few more days, I was patient till then but then again he never called back that is why for the 1st time I went to your restaurant to talk to him and then he told me to wait few days and he will etrf me the money so waited again but I never received anything that is why I went to your restaurant the 2nd time your manager was not there so then one of your staff called him and said I am waiting for him and when he realized it was his fault he etrf me my money within a min while I was waiting in the restaurant but I waited because I wanted to meet him after so much of a harassment and hassle and he behaved with me as if I am asking for somebody elses money. So even after this he never apologized and was arrogant even though I waited for my own money for almost a month So if it really was true according to you that if I placed order through uber and I cancelled it so RASA wont be responsible for paying back then why would you change your rules and send me the money as e transfer. I guess you dont do this every-time unless you know it was your fault. I have no clue whether your staff is just lying to you or you are just trying to save the reputation of your business. So before you get back to your customer and tell them they are lying you should check your cameras and know everything that happened in your restaurant.

Ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh, basmati rice and garlic naan for pick up. Over the phone I asked the total and my question was ignored. Paid 56 dollars. When I picked my food up the staff were welcoming and friendly. When i arrived at home and opened my containers I was immediately disappointed with my quantity and quality of the curry. Advertised as a yogurt an onion gravy you could already see all the oil coagulating and what little chunks of lamb were tough and flavourless. The curry had no flavour.

It was an amazing experience. The server, Sukhi, was very accommodating, pleasant and friendly. The food is scrumptious, especially the butter chicken partnered with Naan. This is my favorite indian restaurant so far, the food and service is phenomenal. It is highly recommended if you re looking for indian flavors and a nice environment with good customer service.

Last night my friend and I were craving Indian food, and this place was perfect! The staff was so pleasant, humble and accommodating. Almost every server there checked in on us to make sure everything was ok at some point during the meal. The food was so flavourful and cooked to perfection and I honestly wish I had the appetite for more! The atmosphere was so inviting and cosy This won t be my last time coming here!

We went to visit Halifax and tried this restaurant but our experience was not so good. We ordered chicken biryani and taste was not worth it and the quantity was way too less. Not worth the money we spent. We also tried their Maharani platter which was also again not worth the money, not so good in taste and very less in quantity. I hope they improve in coming days and do better. For now definitely won t recommend anyone.

I always drove by this place and wanted to try it out as it looks very fancy and high class. And it was just that as the facilities were very nice. However, the food was a very big disappointment. We had high expectations for this place, but the food was meager especially for the substantial amount we paid. All the biryanis we ordered felt like eating a cup of grease with bits of rice and meat in it. Even the meat & sauce dishes didn t have that authentic Indian taste to it. Maybe it was just a bad day or a change of chefs or something, but I left that day only thinking about how I could have used a portion of the money spent to buy a decent filling meal at my other usual food gigs.

We went for dine around. The server was lovely and the atmosphere was gorgeous, however the food was so disappointing. The prawn pakora was over breaded. The butter chicken was bone in, which was not how it was described on the menu, and was so messy to try to eat. The saffron rice had a microwaved metallic taste.

A very cozy restaurant, exactly what I wanted to visit. Courteous and nice service. Delicious food, although it was too spicy, despite the fact that we asked for as few spices as possible, but it is clear that this is still Indian cuisine, and it is primarily about spices. So if you dont like spicy, this might not be for you, but overall, it was very tasty. Desserts, as in the Indian tradition, were sweet and tasty. Clean, tidy. No bright lights and loud music. I believe that this place is definitely suitable for a romantic date and for friendly gatherings. But it should be taken into account that the restaurant is in the center of the city and there will be a problem with car parking. We parked a little further away and had to walk a little, but it didnt spoil our mood and overall impression. We ordered three different main dishes and three different desserts - everything turned out to be equally delicious. For example, the naan was clearly prepared in the restaurant and was very tasty. I recommend Dietary restrictions: It was important to us that there was no gluten in the food. Everywhere on the menu it said GF if it was a gluten free dish. Kid-friendliness: They have a high chair for a small child, if that can be considered child friendly then yes :)

Great service and food quality with decent ambiance

We visited the restaurant at the eve it was great ambiance and great ambiance. Khushi was great with her personality and was really approachable and sweet asking if everything was going good. I couldn t give her more tip since I had an issue with the card as daily tap limit.

I gave this restaurant 5 stars in all 3 categories. Firstly, the food is excellent. My favorite is Paneer Lababdar, which I have only had in India, other than at this restaurant, and theirs is fantastic! The price is also not too much. The atmosphere is fine. The service is amazing. Food is served quickly. The staff are very pleasant. Last night we were served by Khushi and she was very attentive and engaging. My only recommendation would be to have kheer added to the desert menu. Otherwise, we love going to this restaurant and look forward to our next visit. Dietary restrictions: Many gluten free options.

We did not get a native Indian restaurant feel when we dine here. Overpriced items on menu, You will be given plate only once, you cannot ask them to replace it when you go from starters to main course. Tomato soup is good, Biriyani okay-okay, do not expect much from tandoori starters.

Had the chicken vindaloo. One of the best meals Ive ever eaten in a restaraunt. Will be going back and trying to force myself to try other things and not just reorder the vindaloo, lol. Must try Parking: Its downtown so it can be tough to park at times.

At 3.9 rating on Google right now, this place is underrated. The takeout was delicious, savory and fresh. The meat quality was excellent. On the contrary, the meal was pricy and portions small compared to other Indian places. However, the quality at Rasa is a notch above other more casually run restaurants. Well recommended when looking for a treat, and not just a weekly fill of curry.

Kid-friendliness: Not at all Food

The food was absolutely delicious. A little pricey but worth it. You pretty much need to order a side of bread or rice along with the main meals in order to get a well rounded supper. However, we didn t mind because the garlic bread was a close contender for the best part! The service was wonderful. We agreed that the manager needs to trust his staff and step back a little bit. They were doing a fabulous job and we felt as though he was hovering a little bit. It would have been nice to be offered a choice between bottled water or tap water too! They set their tables with glass bottles of water and sparkling water. Overall, we are planning to return soon!

Seeing the review we went there and we felt like we went there to eat freely! The attitude of an old guy is disgusting! I never recommend anyone going there. I only heard in histories how the English people treat Indians during colonization but I felt the same there. The food is terrible, no spices are added as needed. The food is super good

Everything about this place is great! After 10 days of travelling we were missing some indian food, and this place did not disappoint. The service was great from the start and the food hit home. Flavours were unique, but authentic, and very well balanced. Highly recommend the maharani platter and their curries.

We ordered dinner from Rasa for a party and they were so lovely and helpful in the ordering process and the food was beautiful and delicious, it made the day that much more special.

Amazing food and great service. Dahi ke kabab were delicious and food was immensely flavourful. Absolutely enjoyed our dinner. Vegetarian options: Dahi ke kabab, dal makhni, garlic naan, mango lassi, vegetarian kabab, rasmalai, gulab jamun

Its relatively expensive, but I think its worth it. The lamb leg is really delicious, brothers. The naan is also very fragrant. I just ate these two things and I thought it was enough. One portion of his naan comes with four cakes, which is quite a lot.

Came to Halifax on vacation and visited this restaurant. Left us water on the table and charged us $7 for water at the end, didn t tell us before. Food is expensive and was not near worth it for the price. Service was pretty slow while the place was near empty. Overall disappointed.

Let me start by saying we have been regular customers at Rasa for 3 years and have been going there weekly. Today me my partner and my mother went for lunch and ordered a panner sabzi as my mother is a strict vegetarian. After 15 minutes the server came and as soon as he placed the sabzi on the table said, you guys ordered panner right?, let me just make sure this is panner and not chicken went back to the kitchen and came back saying yes this is panner so we started eating. After 2 bites when I looked closely it was chicken and not panner. This was after the server confirmed it with the chef! I called the server and told him the situation and explained and he apologized and got a new sabzi which was fine, even though my mom had already taken a bite we did not want to create a scene and it wasn t the servers fault so we let it go. HERE IS WHERE IT GOT WORSE: The owner of the place usually is there at the bar so after we finished and paid the bill in full, I just wanted to let the owner know of the situation so he s aware so I went to talk to him and upon telling the tale, his exact words were: Oh okay, you didn t eat it tho right?? .This is coming from the owner!! And no sorrys and no apologies at all. We do love the food there but the bad behaviour doesn t make up for the food. And to the Owner: Please learn some basic speaking etiquette, even your servers are better than you at that.

I ordered Butter Chicken and asked them to keep it Medium spicy and they made it sweeter than Rasmalai (Dessert).... Their Naan and Tandoori Roti was soo dry.. Had high hopes but RASA turned out be be Disappointment... Chef: Seriously

I haven t eaten such authentic Indian food in a while, every element and dish is so delicious and so worth it. Specially the dessert

Not recommended. The food was good but the portions we received were extremely small and highly overpriced for what you received. When we pointed this out to management, they were not interested or helpful. I do NOT recommend this restaurant and at this rate I am sure it will not be in business for long.

We ordered Channa Masala and Gobi both items nicely done true Indian flavours. The staff is polite and friendly recommend visiting and enjoying the food

If u want to talk on phone dont visit this restaurant.I ask them before if they except US dollar but at end they said we considered Canadian AND US Dollar SAME .we have to pay 121 us dollar instead of 121 Canadian dollar .1 st restaurant in the world cant talk to on phone even if there is only 2 persons there sitting far from u.1 st and last time visit

The quality and the quantity sucked as compared to their price point

You have to give this place a try ! I just had my birthday here after dining a few times and again Ive expanded my pallet and enjoyed every second quality all the way around for a great price . This place is certainly a gem of Nova Scotia. I love Indian cuisine and have tried many authentic dishes before - and Rasa really is very high up in quality. Our food was cooked to perfection and the atmosphere was great. Our service was great, we were greeted by a very friendly person and were served by another very nice waitress. I d definitely come back and would bring my significant other confident we would both have a great time. Some might say the price is bit on the higher side, but personally I d say it s worth it given the experience. Highly recommended overall!

Vegetarian options: Mix vegetables Food

The ambience was nice but still it does not justify the price . We tried the maharaja platter. The kababs were very dry and tasteless . The naans were very average. I am really disappointed. The restaurant tries to give a fine dine experience but miserably fails because the food is horrible .

Being a tourist in one word the food was not up to mark. Quantity was very less and the taste wasnt great either. The ambience and service was ok but the taste of the food was garbage. If you are looking for some good satisfying food will highly recommend going somewhere else.

Let me start my saying that the place is nice, the ambiance is perfect for a family get together, but the amount of money they charge for the amount of food is absolutely unjustified. For a $23 Malai Kofta we get 3 tiny small kofta and gravy. Chicken biriyani leg piece looked like had no meat in it and with the little amount of rice. They should get their pricing checked, I understand you charge based on the entire experience of the place but may be consider doing some changes to your food portions and taste as well.

This is not the place you go to eat cause they dont serve food portions for adults. The portion is for 6 months old baby The biriyani is $27 but it comes in a small Pan and with one chicken drumstick. No salt is the chicken. The portion for the curry we ordered was not even enough for one person. A disaster experience in terms of food other than that the restaurant looks nice

A quiet atmosphere with beautifully prepared food, great service, easily accessible in downtown Halifax, where a conversation and delicious food come together. The interior decor and lighting were excellent. Another patron was talking loudly on a cell phone. It would be entirely appropriate for staff to tell them not to do that. Parking: Using mobile parking app, it was easy to park. It was cheap, easy to book, and efficient.

We got take out and it was really delicious. We were unable to dine in but the restaurant looked really nice and had a nice vibe going on.

We usually have the same food every time visit this place from Moncton. This time the taste was totally different. Chicken tikka masala -chicken wasnt cooked well and chef said they cooked chicken in tandoor and thats why it was like that but i had chicken tikka at many places and i can feel the difference between not cooked and cooked chicken. , paneer lababdar was ok too not satisfied with the taste..

Me and my friend visited today.Food was good. Very expensive as compared to quantity. Lack of customer service. Me and my friend wanted to change table bcz there was a family beside us and they were noisy bcz they were celebrating but we politely asked for table change after just 2-3 minutes of arrival and we were told no even the restaurant was empty except 2 tables. When we told her to change it she said ok bring ur water glasses by urself she said. Also got less quantity after price being told more. We will not visit again and look for other option.

The service is top notch with a server who was more than attentive. It is my third visit to Rasa and I am never disappointed. The dishes were absolutely divine.

Decided to try this restaurant after always going by it on my way home. The food was wonderful, and did not disappoint. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Basmati Rice. The waiter and waitress were both very attentive and kind. I only have a few minor issues relating to the food. The non-sparkling water I was served was approximately 6 dollars. However, when I viewed both the drink and standard menu on the website, I couldn t find a listed price. The Basmati Rice was great, but a bit too big for one person, so I would advise splitting it. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very flavourful. I ve seen reviews complaining that the portions are too small, but I found it to be just right, especially when looking at the size of the chicken pieces provided. I would certainly recommend trying Rasa if you have the chance.

Worst service ever. Ordered lamb curry which was $25 before tax and got only 4 pieces which is ridiculous! Asked the staff about the quantity and they said that s how they serve.

I went to the restaurant with my partner and one of our friends for a birthday dinner. The food tasted good but the amount we paid for 3 dishes and drinks was too high for the experience. Also I ordered a dessert for my partner for his birthday as a surprise , which they never bought even after waiting a lot of time. We left disappointed. Even though the service was good, I would not recommend this place for if you wanna have some good Indian meal.

My favourite Indian restaurant in Halifax! I have visited many times, and the food is always amazing. The portions are quite small, but the quality and selection are great. Lots of vegetarian options to choose from. The atmosphere is lovely as well; upscale but cozy.

This was hands down the best Indian I have ever tried here in HRM . This might sound crazy, but I m not even exaggerating when I say, I almost cried when I ate butter chicken, I almost cried because it was that good! The location on Dresden Row is absolutely beautiful the decor is amazing. The service was great too. My only small complaint is the mock tails are way too expensive. 12$ is too much for an alcohol free drink however it was a delicious. Thanks rasa!

Last week we went to this restaurant, their service and ambience was really great. We had chicken briyani and Mango Lassi, specially the briyani was so delicious. Never had such a flavor full briyani in Halifax before. Would definitely recommend this to all who are craving for Briyani!!

Food and customer service was really a 5 star. Worth it having a food here. Sukhi did excellent job serving us. Will visit again if had chance to come halifax again.
