1741 Lower Water St #162, Halifax, NS B3J 0J2, Canada
Authentic Italian food, Come and grab your favorite slice of pizza. pasta or panino! Sapori is a "Grab and Go" concept with an option to eat in. We also have a mini market with Italian products.
The food was not good. I got lasagna it was obviously a few days old and just reheated. We also got a slice of margarita pizza and it was not good. The pizza barely had sauce it was clearly not fresh and made the day before. Just seemed like a slice of cheese pizza with a piece of basil put on top. Was dry and looked very unappetizing. The water was the best thing i had there. I dont really recommend this place for Italian. $20 for reheated old lasagna is not worth it.
BEYOND fantastic. Service was great, food felt homemade and couldn’t have been more impressed. Great place for food when in town!
There is no better true Italian food in the city. After having recently visited family in Italy, visiting Sapori was like being back on an Italian street, eating delicious sandwiches with cured meat. The staff are very polite and the decoration is so homey. Can’t wait to go back again!
You know it’s a really good Italian restaurant if you can enjoy your espresso after a delish meal. Vegan and gluten free options are available. The veal scallopini was melting in my mouth. The service was top notch. I can highly recommend it. Thanks to Luca and team for brining a little Bella Italia to Halifax
AMAZING...from start to finish. The owners, Luca and his wife, Katja, are gracious hosts. Luca talked to us about Halifax and suggested things to do and see while visiting, which we appreciated. He talked about his home country and family with passion all well making us feel very welcomed in his restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable, with lots of areas to dine and visit privately. Great for a date night! The food they serve is from the recipes Luca's mom created in Italy. Tonight I had the lasagna and my husband had the chicken parmesan. Both dishes were so tasty and you could taste the love that went into their preparation and the quality of the ingredients. Give them a tey and you will not be disappointed. Well done!
Found this place while wandering around the waterfront. We decided to stay for dinner and it did not disappoint!! Daughter had the Margherita Slice, I tried the chicken Parmigiano with spaghetti and the wife had the lasagna. The chicken parm was amazing and the lasagna melted in your mouth. Try this place out it was amazing.
Very friendly service, fast and a great location with patio on the Harbourfront. The food is overly priced compared to rest of the restaurants in the city, and the portions are alright (typical Italian restaurant). I think there are better restaurants in the neighbourhood that offer more for the value. The food I ordered was not spectacular, and mediocre at best when compared with other Italian restaurants. All I can recommend are the drinks, not the food.
Having spent time in Italy, we were interested in trying this restaurant. Although it is called "Italian Street Food", I think it is mostly just an Italian restaurant. We arrived at 3:00 pm on a rainy Tuesday and were the only patrons in the restaurant, so we had exceptional service, getting personal table service where you normally order at the counter. The food was delicious and service was excellent. The location is great with lots of activity in the area and you can easily walk here from the Ferry.
Great place for a casual meal
We really enjoyed our meal of caprese salad, lasagna, veal scallopini, cannoli for dessert. The lasagna was made in true Italian style. The service was lovely. Way less pricey than the other Italian restaurants around. Very casual atmosphere. Worth a visit.
Luca, Luca, Luca, such a wonderful host ! On recommendation from neighbours, went for a birthday treat & enjoyed it so much, cant wait to return ! Arancini balls, gnocchi & salmon, tiramisu & limoncello Toasty warm on the patio, with a view of the Harbour, Halifax is lucky to have Sapori, go see for yourselves. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy entrance from patio or street, courtyard.
Found this place with our noses when we walked the boardwalk a cold rainy day. Inviting atmosphere, friendly and engaging staff and warm comforting pasta. Gluten free penne with cream sauce was excellent as was the penne with Bolognese sauce. Finished the meal with an Americano and Tiramisu (to die for). If we ever get back to Halifax we will definitely stop in again!
An excellent place, the food and service were very good. We ordered a cheese board and they explained each of its components to us, the salmon ravioli are delicious and they told us about new ones on the menu.
Great pasta and the service was very friendly
Food was very basic. Nothing authentic. Had sandwiches and they were cafeteria worthy
I have been eyeing this place for a long time and finally went in for a take out order. I was warmly greeted by whom you could only presume to be the owner. The meatballs were the best I ve ever had. Beautiful ambiance and I love the street food concept. Will be back again soon to try something else. Bravo!
Lovely dinner with my cousins hubbie who sailed to Hali from Boston.....seevice was top notch,my pasta delicious and a lovely eve to sit outside and enjoy the summer nite.Bonus...our lovely waitress gave us a compli.entaru lemoncello on the house.....my new fav to take my peeps to...Thanks for a great experience !
Excellent authentic Italian. My salmon fettuccine was delicious and my husband s homemade meat lasagna was excellent. Would definitely recommend. Dietary restrictions: They had gluten free pasta options
Stood by the door next to the wait to be seated sign for almost 15 minutes before leaving after receiving multiple strange looks from staff. One server mumbled something to us before leaving us unattended again for another 7 minutes. Wont be back to try. Much better service at many other spots near by.
Tastes like home - 10/10 from the itialian wife and daughter. Excellent altogether. Chicken parm! Cannoli! Those Sapori something bombs!! Wheelchair accessibility: I remember level space - street level! Street food!
I came here for my birthday and it was absolutely amazing! The lasagna, chicken parm and the tiramisu were all easily the best Ive ever had! I would also recommend trying out their cocktails, the Limoncello spritz was fantastic! 10/10 food, wonderful service and a beautiful restaurant overall! You can really feel that they care about what they do! Luca was incredibly sweet and gracious - he even sang me happy birthday! I cant wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
Best food in all of Halifax by far!! Luca is a fantastic host who makes the dining experience enjoyable from beginning to end. No other restaurant in this city even comes close to Sapori. John & Suze
Delicious! I had the Fettuccine with Sapori Cream and sausage, added a side of garlic bread. Amazing flavour.
Absolutely amazing!!! I had the gnocchi and can t wait to eat it again. Service was great. Definitely recommend Food
Thick BURNT black crust on the bottom of the pizza that cost over $8 plus tax for a slice. Not impressed and expect alot better.
Amazing Authentic Italian food. Great atmosphere! Highly recommend
Walked in with a group of 5 for dinner, we were seated quickly but forgotten about right after. 15 minutes past before we got a drink menu. And some of the cutlery napkins were delivered with dirt on them. I got the Veal Scaloppine Marsala e Funghi. Not even sure it was veal, the toughest Ive ever had, required a steak knife to cut. Also found the sauces very bland. Very disappointing. Staff seemed very new and unsure of any processes taking extras to go, or bringing cheques at the end of the night.
Best Italian in NS. Lasagna is amazing, as is every other item on the menu. Atmosphere is quiet. Great prices for the quality of food. Definitely better than other Italian options downtown.
AMAZING penne pasta with bolognese sauce. The chicken parmesan was out of this world!! Perfect place for a delicious meal
Fantastic food and amazing service, I could not recommend this restaurant enough!! Also fantastic owners/staff!!
Amazing Pizza. Amazing people We encountered this place on our bike tour. Food was excellent. Food
Delicious food, cosy ambiance and great service! Their house sauce was one of the best I have had. Also, make space for their tiramisu Vegetarian options: They have a few, but amazing choices for vegetarians
Great food with subtleties in flavors.
Found positive reviews online, so we thought we would try it out. Glad we did! When you walk into this restaurant, its not what you would expect. Unpretentious atmosphere, with food that is amazingly good. Homemade dressings and sauces were delicious! Luca the owner was beyond accommodating! Thank you Luca for the awesome meal. We will definitely be visiting again.
The food was EXCELLENT, a little bit pricy but the food definitively makes up for it, I wish there was music for outside but else really nice restaurant!
Fantastic place with some of the best food Ive ever had.
Very tasty coffee, just like at home. A recommendation, as they say
A solid spot for take out. The Polpette Panini with a side caesar salad was great. I phoned ahead and it was ready in 5 minutes!
Great spot near the water. Service was amazing and the food was great!
Just delicious!! Amazing hosts! The service is outstanding!!
One of the best restaurant in Halifax, a must try option for your waterfront experience. I love the food and their dessert, staffs are very friendly and helpful.
Got to meet the owner Luca! He s great, highly recommend the Veal, the sauce they use for this is AMAZING. The lasagna was a little portion so keep that in mind
Delicious food, great service, and the owner Luca is the best and waited our group s tables himself. Highly recommend!
Food was great and service was great. Luka was our waiter. He s the man!
Amazing food and super friendly staff
A small cafeteria-style restaurant with some great finds. As a starter, a finely sliced Carpacio with a very delicate taste and a Caesar salad with a creamy homemade sauce. For main courses, generous chicken parmagiano escalope and spaghetti bolognese with meatballs... perfectly satisfying big appetites. The pastas and sauces are excellent. For dessert, a tasty tiramisu. Our waitress is kind, smiling and very attentive. Very good food at a reasonable price. Its worth the detour.
Unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was perfect. The food was nothing short of amazing. And to cap off the night, we were treated to a delicious limoncello shot. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal, transporting me back to my travels in Italy. The taste was refreshing, zesty, and brought back wonderful memories of the Italian coast. The combination of outstanding service, exquisite food, and a delightful limoncello shot made for a memorable evening. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. We cant wait to return!
Luca and Giuseppe are the sweetest, most genuine owners you could meet. They are extremely talented and welcoming making for an amazing dining experience. The Salsiccia pizza is to die for. Cheesy, salami, sausage, caramelized onions, topped with some hot honey dizzle !!!
A surprisingly tasty & original restaurant. Service was impeccable & the accompanying dishes were all tasty & originally presented. Staff were welcoming, extremely knowledgeable. Definitely a must experience in Halifax. Food : 5/5
Best italian food Ive ever had! Amazing service! Will be coming back. 10/10
Consistently great food. Very friendly staff. I have grabbed food to go many times and had a few sit-down lunches, all great. Would recommend the meatball sandwich, super light and fresh for a traditionally heavy dish.
Really great Italian food at Halifax. Very friendly staff and an amazing Arancini. The pasta was cooked very well and the chicken parmigiana was very juice.
First time coming in, and did not disappoint! The food was delicious and the staff were so kind and friendly, and the atmosphere is very inviting. I ll definitely be returning!
Had an amazing experience here last night. The server we had was so professional. If I could give that man 10 stars I would. The only issue I had with the place was my lasagna was a little small / not overly hot. Great vibe thou.
We were a group of 10 at least 3 dishes were sent back to the kitchen
In the city for hockey. Stopped by here for lunch was a great experience amazing staff. Incredible food a definite recommend. Your ontario freinds
Good food but VERY overpriced.. in my opinion of course. Ignore this review if youre rich - the food is pretty good here! BUT the last thing I expected when I walked into a place with plastic chairs, paper tablecloth, no table service, etc. was to pay $27 for coffee and a caprese salad! I was not greeted when I walked in either but thats whatever. Anyway, if you have money to burn this is a good lunch spot, if you want to pay $17 (yes) for cheese and tomatoes, there are plenty of Italian places in Halifax with much better atmospheres.
Love this place !!!!
very nice and delicious foods
The staff/owners were so inviting and sweet. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting as well. The portion sizes were spot on. I had the lasagna and it was pretty good. It could use more cheese (but I m a cheese lover). Speaking of, our waitress recommended the rice/provolone balls. I was not a fan but I m a mozza ball person so the rice wasn t for me. A friend who dined with us really enjoyed them. My husband loved the meatballs. I ordered one of each dessert and they were all SO good. (Tiramisu, vanilla and chocolate profiterole and chocolate hazelnut cannoli). Once we were done she brought us each a shot on the house (it s possible it was because I voiced not loving the rice/cheese balls) it was a very nice touch. We will definitely return. We were staying at the Muir and it is next door, on the boardwalk.
Enjoyed a solid, meatball sub marinara, was great on a crunchy baguette
Great food, very friendly service, fast and reasonably priced! A new go to spot downtown. Great for lunch or a casual dinner.
The food was yummy and delicious. The server was so good and friendly.
Everytime I have been here I have had the best experience from the owner. Good prices with generous portions. Their brushetta is delicious!
Incredible food, incredible owners and an incredible experience.
The food here is very good its a shame the owners are not very friendly kinda rude actually.
Went here for lunch. Purchased Penne Pasta with Tomato sauce and Chicken. Staff was friendly. You order at the counter and then they bring it out for you. However, I think I would get more pasta in a frozen dinner. Was not worth the $23.68 (taxes and tip). Tasted ok, but nothing to rave about.
I came during happy hour. Nice spot with a great view. The service was fantastic. Nice place for an afternoon break.
Portion sizes for the pastas were so small, felt smaller than the kid size meal. Nobody ever checked on us if we liked our food or not - it was not busy, there were 3 other tables.. I would not recommend the place at all. Food
Owners were incredibly kind, my friends and I were tourists and were looking for someplace to eat, and they very kindly allowed us to order even after closing hours. Delicious food, kind, fast servous, and very generous owners. Would recommend any day of the week.
The food was amazing! When I first read Italian street food I thought it would be like a fast food but I was really impressed. The service was exceptional! Very kind and respectful.
We walked in, with expectations of maybe getting a decent panino for lunch..wow..were we surprised! The flavors hit you hard, bringing back memories from back home! Amazing bread, with olive oil to start, Ravioli, the way they should taste, for main and an amazing Tirami-su, so good..that one was not enough! Great service, great food, and really fair prices. What else can one ask for! It was worth the trip from Southwestern Ontario alone!
A superb welcome, beautiful place, very good food, the Italian owner Luca is a genuine person.
Went there for lunch in afternoon We had an appy platter which had everything and delicious. The pizzas looked amazing, maybe another time. The owners were very nice and welcoming Did not find it expensive at all and we go for dinner quite often Next time will be for dinner
We enjoyed it. Music was great! Keep it up. Felt almost like home :)
The food was edible. But a bit sad. And pretty expensive. The Nine Locks beer I had was delicious. My husbands panino was a tiny, barely charred wrap with a smidgen of ham and cheese in it, served up all lonely on the plate. Historical photos in reviews show a panino made with bread. My margarhita pizza had a great chewy crust, but the rest of it was akin to a cafeteria slice that has been under heat lamps for awhile. Our dining companions were fantastic as always, but the rest of the dining experience was mediocre. A bit of a tourist trap, I think. Underwhelming.
Let me start with the good things: the guy at the register/service was very friendly. Unfortunately, the pasta was a disaster. The pasta was still full of salty water, and the bolognese sauce tasted like cheap/bad processed food out of a can. Flavorless. and far away from authentic Italien street food (as they claimed).
Beautiful visit from Southern Alberta loved the greeting and the food our 2year old son also enjoyed his Pene
I can t say enough good things! Fresh , made in house everything tastes like from Italy ! Luca is amazing ! Food
got build your own pasta. everything tasted completely bland, and they gave us like 3 tiny pieces of chicken in the pasta. Not worth 20$ at all.
Sapori Italian Street Food is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the cozy and inviting ambiance. The menu boasts a delectable selection of authentic Italian street food that takes your taste buds on a journey to Italy. Every dish I tried was a burst of flavors, perfectly showcasing the essence of Italian cuisine. The quality of ingredients used in their dishes is evident, and the attention to detail in each preparation is commendable. Whether its their mouthwatering pasta, scrumptious paninis, or delightful desserts, Sapori Italian Street Food never disappoints. The service is impeccable, with a team that is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The portions are generous, making it ideal for sharing or indulging in multiple dishes during one visit. Furthermore, the prices are reasonable, given the outstanding quality of food and service. Sapori Italian Street Food provides a top-notch dining experience without breaking the bank. If youre a fan of authentic Italian flavors or simply looking to explore new culinary delights, I wholeheartedly recommend Sapori Italian Street Food. Its a must-visit for anyone seeking a five-star experience in Italian cuisine. Trust me; you wont be disappointed!
Had the beet salad, with the Penne. The food was delish, the service top notch, and the view is gorgeous. Grazie Food : 5/5 |
Beautiful view outside, the salmon is very good and the sweet salad tastes great.
Whether youre visiting Halifax or a local this is an incredible place. 10s across the board. Staff are friendly and polite without being overbearing. The food is the stand out, when they say traditional Italian cuisine they mean it. Highly recommend the pizza which you can buy by the slice to go. Love it.
Not good at all, the bread was burned. And it was bitter!!! Some hours after having food, I had stomach aches and nausea. It was because of their food. I had a panini there. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY in that restaurant. Food : 1/5
The food is nothing special! The owners are beyond rude. Avoid at all costs!
We had dinner here twice on our visit to Halifax. The food and the staff were outstanding. Highly recommend. Plus very reasonable prices.
The food was excellent, we ordered pizza, lasagna and calamari. Everything was very delicious, fresh and homemade. Exceptional flavors. The person who served us was excellent, very kind and diligent. Excellent place!!! I never write reviews but it deserves this place... Only empty plates.... Delicious
Lasagna sauce too acidic and spaghetti Bolognese sauce dripping to the bottom of the cauldron to burn! Ps we are not difficult but there!
Great, tasty, an experience
Went here for the first time and I really enjoyed it. The servers were really friendly and our food came super fast. I can recommend the margherita pizza and Caesar salad (margherita pizza if you are vegetarian, Caesar salad is not), the large Caesar salad is big enough to split between two people. It was very affordable for the whole meal too. The patio is nice when the weather is fine... all in all really cute spot
Despite being quite busy the owner took the time to come help me out during the transaction with (as a customer service worker myself) i would consider a bit of an annoying request on my part. he was very friendly and accommodating. the restaurant is always spotless every time iv been in and I always love the potato pizza..I highly recommend this place.
Waited way to long a for a slice of pizza! Got no cutlery from them, I had to go get it myself
Place is great and pizza is solid. However, my 5 is based off the arancini alone. I havent found any arancini in Halifax or Toronto that hold a candle to Saporis. So crispy, gooey, and delicious youll probably name your firstborn child after them.
Good spot. Nothing fancy. Pizza makes a great snack.
A cute spot! I was dying to try this place but I found it underwhelming. It s a little confusing when you go in whether it s a sit-down or takeout place. I opted for sit-down and wasn t checked on the whole time (there was only 1 other table), eventually having to get up and wait in the takeout line to pay my bill because no one else was checking on tables and the cashier was tending to the takeout folks. The focaccia bread was delish, but the pizza was just okay. It was also CRAWLING with flies, so much so that I left my table early and took my food to-go (they gave me tin-foil to wrap my food instead of a to-go box, which was odd). The staff were lovely though.
Such a beautiful dinner with top tier service. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone
Food : 5/5 |
The staff and plating were good. Didnt speak to the Owner. The spaghetti bolognese tasted strongly of fish and little else... rather disgusting. The regular spaghetti somehow had no flavour at all. The only parmesan in sight was a bit of the powdered stuff that came from the kitchen. Staff never asked how it was. Very few patrons compared to next door. Youre sadly better off spending equal or less at East Side Marios or probably any other Italian place
Love this place! I get the caprese panini and it is the best in the city!!
I love the food here! It is always so fresh and delicious. Dont forget to grab some gourmet pasta, sauce and olive oil so you can enjoy the food at home. Always friendly service!
Love this place! The spaghetti with tomato sauce and penne with the cream sauce is our favourites. Also, a slice of Pizza seals the delicious deal. Try to come once a week. Well worth the drive and prices are very reasonable. Great staff always inviting and friendly.
Amazing pizza slices (perfect sauce and cheese) and delicious cannoli! Yum! All the ingredients and details are clearly done by a discerning Italian cook/chef.
Always delicious! Wonderful service
Best lasagna Ive ever eaten!! Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices.
Coffe, pastry, and pizza are excellent and the location is really nice by the sea. Definitely recommend!
The pasta is so gas especially for the price.
If you want to treat yourself, this is the place par excellence. The owner in the photo is very friendly. The food is excellent and the service is excellent. The chicken parmigiana is very good. The desserts are excellent. I loved my experience so much that I returned twice in the same week. For those who love coffee you are an excellent place to treat yourself.
Amazing ,,, 1
Love it and survive was top rate
Found this place by chance and stopped there for lunch today. This place is amazing! Luca, who I think is the owner, came around to explain the menu to me and have a nice chat. The food was a little pricey, but well worth it! I can see this quickly becoming one of my favourite lunch spots!
Sweet little Italian Restaurant in the downtown Halifax area . I Stopped in for a quick lunch with a Coworker & I tried the Chicken Parmigiana , it was great . Very fresh & tasty with speedy service . The kind man who took our orders , who I believe to be the owner , was friendly and informative & told us a few stories and explained some of the menu items . Ill definitely return for more .
Great place!! My favourite place to go for an amazing meal. Staff is phenomenal, food is amazing, and prices are super affordable. Definitely a must try when you re in the city.
Have had the pizza and their Gnocchi. Both excellent!
Excellent!
The day before I found Sapori, I was googling around looking for the best Caesar salad in Halifax. I ended up at some other pizza place, which was fine... But THIS is what I was looking for! Awesome salad, great panini, excellent service. All the food coming to tables around me looked great too, and I was a little jealous of the people eating Mozza sticks beside me. Will go back for lunch again ASAP!
It was delicious. I ordered a margarita pizza slice and a delicious lemon coconut biscuit. I was disappointed that the slice wasn t hot when it was brought to me but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
AMAZING food and AMAZING service The owners of this restaurant are outstanding and never disappoint for service The food is also incredible!!
Fantastic food, great wine, good prices and the best service. You can tell the owner is passionate and willing to do what it takes to drive the business. Cant recommend them enough to friends and will definitely be back!
Not only is the food top notch, the service is one of the best in town. Pricing is also very reasonable compared to the rest of the city. The two business partners were working during my visit at Saproi, and you can tell they have poured their heart and soul into this place. We got to know their story of the restaurant, and it is most definitely was a true Italian experience. Most definitely will be back.
BEST TASTING FOOD EVER. The owner and staff were AMAZING and friendly. could ask for nothing more when it comes to quality of food and service.
Absolutely delicious! Great menu, wonderful service!
Awesome staff. Great experience. Pizza was not bad. The salad was great. But the arancini are where its at. Best Ive had in the city.
Staff members were very nice! And the food was amazing !
Great find on the boardwalk. Very good pizza sold by the piece, interesting Italian wine, excellent Caesar salad. And the Italian boss also speaks French, a plus!
Food and service is incredible and the view is unmatched. Absolutely must go even if just to grab a slice of pizza and go, but you will miss out on the delicious aperal spritz and incredible vibe surrounding the place
Delicious Italian cuisine. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly accommodating staff. They were nice enough to make me a slice of pizza with no cheese and lots of veggies. It was delicious. Returning today with family and friends.
Decent Italian food on the harbour front. Good prices and portion sizes. The owner(?) seemed to be having a bad day and wasn t super friendly, but the food was good and we were served quickly. We ll likely come back the next time we re in town if we need a quick bite to eat in the area.
We had an amazing experience that came along with great food. Thank you Luca for treating us to a taste of Italy. Cheers!
One of the best Italian places downtown. Its exciting to see a casual Italian spot open up on the waterfront, especially when the food is better than most upscale Italian places here. Come here for lunch at work and for dinner on a nice summer evening. Would give 6 stars if I could
Mediocre and tasteless food. The only adible dish was the salad. Kids could not eat the pasta. Not worth the visit.
Terrible food. No taste at all. Tomato sauce tastes like canned sauce
The food and service are always on point! Great for take out or dine in!
Reminded me of an italian trattoria...great food good price.
First time here and everything about my experience was wonderful! The owners were so nice and hospitable. The food and wine were delicious and the vibes were just good :) I definitely recommend this place to everyone!
Best casual Italian street food and has become a gem on the waterfront. Great pasta salad and pizza. Peroni on tap and the server Luka is super lovely.
Amazing Italian food! Decently priced everything. I get my cheese from here. I love the Potato pizza.
This is the second year in a row we go to Halifax and order this pizza. It is to die for!!! The whole experience is worth every cent you spend. The owner is super friendly.
Have been to several restaurants during our visit to Halifax and this is our favourite by far - we came for dinner and then a lunch. Highly recommend the spaghetti, the arancini, the truffle fries and the chicken parm. Make sure you leave space for the amazing Tiramisu. My wife loved the espresso and I loved the latte. We literally felt like we were swept back to Italy (we have been there 4 times). Food was made with love - you can taste it.
They have doors open both sides but line is only on one side and none to tell you that this is wrong side of line. Really bad service. Too expensive. Did not like the basic pizza taste.
Got pasta with tomato sauce, broccoli and mushrooms. 16$ due to the veggies for a moderate portion and weird tomato sauce with boxed quality pasta.
Ordered a panini from here for lunch. It was delicious and they definitely use quality ingredients. It is a little pricey, but is reasonable for its location and quality. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian pizza and pasta options. Parking: Paid underground parking at the Queen Marquee (the building its located in) or at the nearby ferry terminal. Also on street parking nearby.
Been here a few times and its always delicious. Staff are always welcoming and friendly but today I really appreciated everyone there. The boss was at the front entrance with a lady greeting everyone, the employee working the cash was extra friendly and seemed very genuine. It was a hot day and I sat down to eat, a few minutes later the female employee came over with a water without me even asking! Thanks for looking out for me on such a hot day!
Best Italian good so far!
5 stars all the way. This is the most amazing Italian restaurant in HRM. The food here is amazing. Service was fast and exceptional. But the food. Man the food is amazing. You gotta try the spaghetti and the Chicken Parm.
Good pizzeria for takeaway. I recommend the square pizza slices, especially the potato and rosemary one which was very good. The service is decent.
It was a very lovely Italian restaurant on the waterfront area . Fabulous service the entire evening which is hard to find nowadays. Our party of five loved all our meals with the only let down being the bruschetta. The desserts were also very tasty .
Awesome new restaurant with great build-your-own pasta, salads, and pizza. Highly recommend!
Great food great service
I absolutely loved this place. I only wish I lived closer! Great food! Great service! Best part of my vacation! I learned the right way to eat a cannoli!
Deceiving when you enter, was an absolute fabulous meal and service! Counter to go food or sit down meal service. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals!! Thank you!! Definitely a spot to experience some delish Italian fare!!
Lasagna and pizza were very tasty and warm. What was a pleasant surprise was the big cup for the tea, I always suffer with the little cups so this is wonderful. They provide a jar of cold water as well and the desserts were delicious: tiramisu and canoli. Price is fair and service perfect.
A nice spot to grab a quick bite while exploring the harbour front. It is Italian street-style food inspired. The food is good and the prices are decent.
My favourite place to go eat when I m downtown! Luca and Beppe are so nice and welcoming! I recommend anyone try eating here at least once while in Halifax!! Everything is so goood!! Oml the pasta of the day is sooo goood I could eat it all daaaaaay
Great service, really good food and a nice atmosphere. Will visit to eat again next time we re in Halifax.
From the entrance i smell the original italian food. After we order i allmost forget to take pictures, we eat first . The food was really tasty and we also ordered for home lasagna and a bottle of Chianti red wine. Giuseppe and Luca are amazing host, The atmosphere is verry friendly. We recomend for all who want to discover Italian flavours! I will return at least once on week. You have to try minestrone soup and limoncelo and prosseco. Tell them what sauce or flavour you prefere and they will surprise you everytime! Dont forget to order focaccia!
My husband and I eat at Sapori on a regular basis. The staff is amazing and the food is beyond amazing. We find the price excellent. My husband is a pizza lover and this is his new favourite place to eat pizza. Great price, great food, great people. We always leave happy and full. I give it 5 stars only because I cannot give more.
Ambience was great. Food was not that awesome compared to the prices charged. Staff was super-friendly.
First time visit. Won t be the last! Great food, great service. Perfect for date night or meal with the fam!
First impressions were great. They had a selection of great salami and pizza and lasagna that I tried and enjoyed. They clearly have invested some good money here, looking at the oven they have. However, my last few visits have varied. I feel that the quality is inconsistent- either ingredients have changed or they have had a few off days. A bit disappointed by this and the lack of nutrition facts available for a lot of their offerings. Id be curious to know if ingredients have changed or if me and my bowels have gone crazy. Hopefully they can apply the same principles that they used when choosing the oven to buy, and keep things consistent. Not worth saving a dime when it may mean less return business! Regardless, Id still definitely check these guys out. They are still probably the best in town (not that thats difficult in Halifax).
This is a must-try establishment! Incredible: Pizza, Rissotto Balls, Panninis, Desserts. Just go.
You simply must add this to your daily joy! Just opened down by the Queens marquee beside Tim Hortons and on ferry terminal . The food is fabulous the coffee is delightful and with the wonderful patio chairs outside you won t feel like you re cooped up! ... this beautiful new Italian bistro will feel like you ve been transported to Italy
We have used Sappori twice now for special occasions. Once for a colleagues last day and just recently for Mother s Day. Both times everyone was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food. We are lucky to have this new restaurant in our downtown! We will be back again and again.
Authentic. Delicious. Great service!
Menu looks great. Im giving it 2 star mostly because of the price. No half descent place would charge almost 60$ for Pizza Margharita. I can promise you even in downtown Rome or Milan you wont pay 60$ for family size pizza.
Wow. Just wow. Go try it. Its delicious.
Great lunch spot. Pizza, pasta and sandwiches
Overpriced. I love crispy, thin Italian style pizza. But the prices for a slice of margherita or a whole pie are ridiculous. $60 for a square Marg pizza. Not worth it for some thin dough, tomato sauce, couple basil leaves and a few dabs of mozz.
Great place! The staff were so friendly. The atmosphere is wide open w/ outside seating. Lots of variety to choose from by way of beverages. Well priced! Came here for lunch and had the Margherita pizza!
Pizza is the most Italian. Profitroles and tiramissu are the best!
Very good food. 100% italian and excellent prices
Incredible ownership that go above and beyond. Fantastic food (pasta is better than most other restaurants in the city).
Good courteous service. The food was excellent!
Hands down the best Pizza slices and freshly cooked Pastas in Atlantic Canada, like In Rome and Venice... Their Margarita pizza Slice instantly took me back to Pizzarium in Rome, near Vatican city. Sapori is as authentic as to gets to Italian street food... It makes a huge difference when the owners and chefs are from Italy... Fare la scarpetta!
Downtown needed a place like this. Authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. I had a slice of Salsiccia pizza with a side of meatballs and arancini (fried balls of rice and cheese). All were extremely delicious. The owner and staff were very friendly and the seating was plentiful and well spaced. I also grabbed some Pecorino cheese and Genoa salami from their take out fridge which I enjoyed later. This will be a regular stop for me but I may have to start exercising more LOL.
Best pizza in Halifax! Closest you will get to Italy on the east coast of Canada. Thanks Luca and team!
AMAZING! The best pizza in Halifax.
It was an absolute delight. The food was amazing and everyone was so kind and welcoming.
The italian guys make you feel welcome! They are so friendly and nice. When they see you, they help you right away. The kitchen guy who prepared my calamari was nice, too. Washroom very clean. I only tried one of their pizza and lasagna and I like them both. Hopefully, Ill be able to try their pasta.
Hidden gem in New building downtown. Pasta was great and good value!
Avoid at all costs. This place is way over priced for the smallest piece of pizza I have seen. It had so little cheese on it I needed a magnifying glass to see it.
Owner is really nice. Really good food Nice place to eat.
Amazing!!! The fresh Italian food is to die for! The pic is all that is left! Tried their fettuccine with Sapori cream sauce, margarita pizza, and Ceasar salad. Havent had such good Italian food in years. Wine selection is small but quality. Staff went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. 10/10 am returning
Beppi and Luca are consumate hosts. THE best pizza dough in the HRM, paninis, pasta, salads, tirumisu and the perfect Aperol Spritz. Everything is fresh and made on premise. Top quality ingredients, lovely wine list....expresso cappuccino....authentically Italian. You cant go wrong and yes they have take out as well....superb!
Pastas were delishes, food was quick, service was good.
All the staff were very kind and the food was to die for. there was only one other person, very calm and open environment
Shared a bite to eat and a drink with my wife on a sunny morning and had a great time sitting in the sun. Each grabbed a Peroni and ordered a slice of pizza and espresso inside. There are different types to chose from already made waiting for you just like in Italy and after they heat them up they add a few more finishing touches depending on what you get. They also have a good selection of take away items inside including wine, cheese, meats, dry pasta and pasta sauce if you are looking for take away or a picnic along the waterfront. We went out and took our seats and everything we ordered was brought right out to us ! Great service and everything tasted delicious including the authentic espresso in an Illy cup and saucer. Great spot to grab some refreshments if you work down town or are staying at a local hotel. Would definitely go back again. Hoping as they get up and running they are able to add a few things to their patio to increase the atmosphere. A few big plants, some nice lights and a pergola and I could be convinced I was in Italy !
Very good food and service. Had their pasta in white sauce and then returned for rosee and tiramisu .
Don t be fooled: this looks like a simple pizza takeout, but it s hands-down the best Italian in the city. What a gem. Get the Ravioli di funghi if they have it.
I never wrote a review in the past but these guys are the best. Food is delicious and does not over-bloat you(even after a full lasagna) the expresso is nothing about best of italy. These guys are real deal for great food. Food is clearly underprice so I go as often as i can :)
Rainy day in Halifax and lunch hour is coming for our last day in Halifax we should go back to Luca. Sapori is the right place to get a bite and have a beer in a picture perfect clean place by the ocean. Came twice and it works rain or shine, literally! My wife s smile alone was worth it
Authentic Italian food and outstanding hospitality. Congratulations to the owners Luca e Peppe. I will be back as often as I can
Excellent food and very fair prices! Bepe and Luca have it dialed in at Sapori s
Amazing Italian food! Excellent service.
One of the best Italian place in Halifax! The food is absolutely great! The pizza taste exactly like the ones in Naples! Luca, the owner, is simply amazing, kind and generous!!
We were visiting from out of town and the staff at Peace By Chocolate recommended this amazing restaurant! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They made us feel like part of their family. The food was absolutely amazing! We would highly recommend this establishment!
Really good pizza, i loved the one with Italian sausage, it has a nice thin crispy crust and layers of flavour. It tasted better than it looks
Delicious true Italian food! Even a simple salad was incredible because of excellent ingredients. Lovely staff too. A favourite spot in Halifax.
Im so glad I found this place! Not only were the people who served me friendly, the food was so good. Not to mention extremely affordable. I ordered fettuccine with homemade tomato sauce as well as a slice of Margherita, both were very well made. Ill be back soon for more:)
Excellent food and service! Taste is fresh and flavourful!
Very good small restaurant for diners. Great food at reasonable prices. Fast service. I definitely recommend!
The staff was so welcoming and friendly, loved the atmosphere as well. The food was to die for! Simply delicious! I will be back!
Awesome place to stop for lunch or after work wine/snack or dinner. Had my first lunch their today - yummy pizza - and I will be back. Great gift ideas for those you love or for yourself! Food, service and ambience are all top-notch!
Absolutely phenomenal. Lots of vegetarian pizza options and very well priced. Good for a quick snack on the go or a sit down chat. The owner is lovely and told us a wonderful story about the history of Margarita pizza. The Arroncini were so so good. Just absolutely melt in your mouth amazing. If youre sharing make sure to get enough for at least 2 everyone or else youll regret it! Though its not vegan friendly its definitely a lovely place and worth a visit!
Sapori is a great modern space, set up as a casual take out style cafeteria. Its definitely more of a lunch spot than dinner. The Rome-style square pan pizza is unique, and not found elsewhere in Halifax. I enjoyed the salsiccia. The patata was interesting, but a little oily. The only issue with the pizza was it could ve used more sauce. The crust is fantastic and very crisp. I wouldn t be able to justify the prices for the entire pizzas (~$60), however. Unfortunately, the calamari was awful. It came lightly fried, which was promising, but it was like tasteless rubber bands. Definitely frozen and not fresh. For $16 on the waterfront, it s pretty shameful. The lasagna was alright, but it wasn t evenly heated (microwaved), and the sauce did not taste house made. Staff were friendly, and hopefully they can work out some kinks and make improvements going forward. I d return for a pizza slice when I m in the area.
Tried Sapori last evening. The Pizza was excellent and the salad amazing. Service was spectacular. So friendly and genuine. Check these out and support our local entrepreneurs
The best Italian restaurant in the city. Strongly recommend. Excellent atmosphere, best food, low price.
Loved it! Stopped in for pizza on Saturday! My son said the salami pizza was the best he has eaten in his 15 years!
