Very long wait, after ordering my friend had time to wait a bit, go to a restaurant across the street, come back with his own food and wait an additional 10 minutes. THEN when I got my food the friend werent there. So I asked for my fries and he said it would be another 10 minutes. I asked for a refund and he told me no refunds. He looked through the order history to confirm that I paid for fries. I said that we dont have an extra 10 minutes to wait so he finally handed me my refund. Avoid this place. The wrap tastes good but definitely not worth the wait or attitude.

Honestly best Kebab tested since i came to Halifax! We had the Shandiz Chelow mix grill and was suggested by the cook to get Choopan(Ayran) As it gose well with the meat. Customer service was great! We really enjoyed and we had excellent experience Highly recommended! Parking: Free Parking a-lot

So exciting to have delicious Persian food in the north end. So many delicious grilled meats and stews available. We had the koobideh (no tatziki pictured here cause I m allergic) but can t wait to return to try the ghormeh sabzi. No tahdig on the menu but they cater and can make it for your special event! This may have been the worst Persian food I have ever eaten. I paid for a koobide and I was provided with the driest kabab the world has ever seen and it was laying in a pool of ketchup vomit. It looked like a premade mess. Sangak was not sangak! They gave me premade pita. Pita bread is not sangak. Insulting to be served this. Reviews of 5 stars I am convinced is from friends and family. During our trip to Halifax, we visited this restaurant for a late lunch around 3:30 PM. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet. The appetizers and main dishes were good, though the portions could have been slightly larger, but still satisfying for us. The service was excellent, and our server was warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this place!

The environment is culturally rich, and the staff are friendly, but I was disappointed with the food. After seeing the enticing pictures, I expected something delicious, but that wasnt the case. The beef sambouse was served without any dip and was filled with a very bland hamburger mixture I couldnt even detect any onions. The plate of plain rice was unremarkable, and the skewered beef lacked flavour as well. If they could add some spices and improve the menu, I would consider coming back.

The food looked so delicious, I forgot to take a picture of it. We had the nice kebab, with doog and the lahma baajeen. Service was world-class. Also, he makes the food fresh to order and it TAKES TIME so if you re in a hurry, wait until you have enough time to sit down and enjoy it. Vegetarian options: They ve got vegetarian options.

The Persian food here is delectable and freshly made. We first had the Khoresht Gheymeh Bademjan Stew and Ghormeh Sabzi Stew appetizers and both were flavorful. The first had a slight sweetness that went well with the eggplant in it. Perfect serving size as a meal for those of us with lighter appetites and not so large as to overwhelm the meal to come for those with a regular appetite. We all had kebab meals and the kebabs were delicately spiced to complement the taste of the meat, had a slight crispness on the outside yet somehow still soft and tender and not heavy. Magical. The tomato and red pepper Mashti sauce has some bite to it that was perfect with the kebab. Definitely returning when in the area. Dietary restrictions: Can easily avoid gluten and dairy

I was very disappointed with the kebab platter and salad, so were my guests.. Kebab was definitely not fresh.. It was rubbery and had preservatives in it.. It was definitely not made at the restaurant.. I have had kebabs in this city, made to order fresh and moist.. I could not stomach the same here.. Owners are nice and friendly..

One of the must try Persian gem in Halifax. We visited twice all the way from New Brunswick. Top hospitality, kids friendly and chef himself welcomed and served. I would recommend you to try atleast one time.

I stopped by after reading many of the reviews but to be frankly honest, it was a total disappointment. I had the koobide kebab however it was short of salt and ultimately flavourless. I also did not enjoy the service and felt like I was being rushed to order. With the disappointment, i decided to read some of the previous reviews then quickly realized that most of them are from fake accounts. The only plus was that it was relatively cheap for what you get. However, I definitely won t be back.

From my one time visit, I had a great experience. I ve not tried Persian food before. My girlfriend and I ordered the koobide Kebab dinner and it came with a grilled tomato and a side of tzatziki. The rice was plain basmati rice and it tasted exactly as you d expect, and the meat was tender and filled with a good flavour. The owner was very polite and I enjoyed having him greet us. It s definitely worth the $20-$22 for the meal. I understand this is a new business. It s worth trying, and after you must try the deserts. Honey cake, baklava, sweet samosa. We ll be back.

Having tried several Persian restaurants in Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, etc., I noticed the options here were a bit more limited. The food quality was good, though not the absolute best, and it leaned towards the pricey side.The staff were friendly and welcoming though.

Excellent service, quality, and overall experience. We have been watching the renovations at Shandiz for months, and were excited when they opened their doors for in-person dining. The first dinner there did not disappoint. There are plenty of options for vegetarians, which is an added plus. The service was legendary, and the food was cooked to perfection. I wanted a falafel on rice instead of a wrap because I have to be gluten free. It was $6 more and had no vegetables, just falafel and 4 servings of rice for 18.50 Edit- I have claimed this voucher. I had their Chelow Mix Grill, Hummus, Falafel and Ayran drink ( for the niche taste ) and it was out of the world!! Real Persian food, family run and they make all the things by hand like the garlic sauce which was made this morning, and it was spectacular! Creamy, garlicky and delicious. oh not to forget, their baklava! To die for. I usually like my usual Mediterranean restaurant, but they are my top favorites. Parking: Right beside the restaurant

The best Middle Eastern food I have had in Atlantic Canada!! The food tasted like it was straight from Dubai. After living in Dubai for years, this was the closest I could feel to home. The owner is so king and sweet, I would highly recommend this place! PS: They are also open on Christmas!

I write Farsi because my target is Persian languages: Pounded kebab: If you look at the photos uploaded by other friends, you will notice that a mold is used to skewer the kebabs, and in terms of shape, it is different from the pounded kebab that we usually eat. In terms of taste, the kebab was not salty. And the meat was fatty and juicy, but it was not like the Iranian pounded kebab in terms of color and size. Shishlik kebab: This kebab is made from 6 pieces instead of 4, and the kebab that my friend ordered had more fat than meat. The color of the meat was white after cooking. I saw in the photos that it was different for other friends. Rice: Iranian rice was not used. The rice had no aroma and was decorated with saffron-colored rice. In my opinion, all Iranian restaurants remove Iranian rice to cover costs and make a profit, because someone charges 30 dollars for a pounded kebab. does not pay Service: everything was good, but the food didnt come to the table together, and one person brought our food for 9 people at a time interval. Yogurt: We ordered 2 types of yogurt, plain yogurt and yogurt and cucumber. The plain yogurt was very tasty and not at all like condensed yogurt and it was like homemade yogurt, which I liked. The yogurt and cucumber was very watery, more like buttermilk, and I didnt like it. Barbecue grill: They used a very simple gas grill, which I dont know if its good or bad, but I preferred charcoal. I said simple above, more explanation: we have double-sided gas grills that make cooking similar to charcoal grills, their cooking speed and cooking table size are bigger and they can have faster service. Kitchen: The door of the kitchen is from the shop next door, and you can see the staff coming and going with ingredients and raw meat when you are in the hall. Result: The taste of the barbecue that I ate at Shandiz Halifax restaurant is low compared to Shiraz Halifax restaurant, because both are in the same city and have the same conditions, the raw materials and the type of cooking are important that the customer sees the result and the shape of the food. And it tastes good. If there is no other Iranian restaurant, I will definitely choose Chandiz and I will go again, but normally it is not my choice for Iranian food. If you go to Mezza and Pita Pit for falafel wraps you need to stop doing that and just go to Shandiz.

We visited Shandiz on a weekday evening and tried their chellow mixed grill. It was fresh and tasty! However, I wouldnt recommend the stew; the veggies were overcooked, and it didnt come with bread.

I read the reviews and decide to give a try. I was excited, but the food didn t reach my expectations. The food is not bad, but for me was the lack of flavour.

The owners were lovely but I am disappointed with the food given the price point. We tried the joojeh kebab wrap and the shandez vegetarian wrap. Both wraps were under-filled, especially the joojeh, which had hardly any vegetables in it. Both wraps tasted good with the tzatziki, however the shandez vegetarian wrap was a bit bland on its own. ***Edit: I believe they are faking their five star reviews, many use the same photos. Disappointed this replaced a neighbourhood institution.
