2 doors down hosted us for our work party. It was amazing. The customer service from the servers was truly wonderful. The atmosphere, decor and the food was really good.

What can I say other than everything was perfect! The table, the service, the food the ambience. We loved it. Thank you!

First time, very impressed! Long overdue. We noticed that the table beside us was not charged for their drinks, the customers pointed it out, and you fine folks apologized and said their drinks were on the house. I find that very upstanding, and that kind of treatment will lead me to return and surely suggest your restaurant to others. I m a cook at heart and I loved the food. I had the Singapore noodles, my fiancée had the pei beef. My only desire would be a bit bigger selection of desserts, however the choc fudge cake was amazing!! Top notch staff the whole way around. I had been to the Dartmouth Crossing location for dinner which I really enjoyed for both the vibe and the food. I came to this location while attending a conference nearby. The food itself was ok, to me, not much different than what I could get at a pub. Maybe it was because of what I ordered (crispy chicken sandwich) or because I was there for lunch and not dinner. Regarding the vibe and atmosphere - I cant think of words to describe it because it seemed so average. If anything it seemed a bit dark even for it being mid-day, but maybe that was the point? I probably would try someplace else for something different before returning here for lunch, not because it was bad but because nothing about the meal or experience stood like like it did at the other location.

Food was well presented and hot. I wasn t a huge fan of the scallop gnocchi due to the sauce being on the oily side. Nice atmosphere otherwise.

We hosted our holiday party (~100 guests) at 2DD and it was amazing! The team was organized and the space was beautifully decorated. Our guests had nothing but good things to say about the food and the event. Highly recommend if youre looking for a space to host a private gathering.

Enjoyed the atmosphere, the idea of local seasonal ingredients is fantastic. The seasonal bruschetta was not great, typically a vegetarian safe option, however had prosciutto (not identified on the menu). Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options and alternatives.

Although the main restaurant was closed for a private function, we were kindly ushered next door to the pub which was set for dinner reservation groups. From there staff looked after us well and we had a good meal, although the Singapore noodle dish could have been spicier. Thank-you!

We had a pre-theatre dinner there. The server was excellent, the food was delicious, and there was happy hour 4-6 pm. We only wish we had saved room for dessert!

Restaurant was recommended by a friend from home (Ontario) who ate there earlier this summer. It did not disappoint.

Really enjoyed the burgers , the bruschetta and the cocktail. ( taste like apple crisp - can t reminder the name). The server was a nice young guy. Very enthusiastic and willing to accommodate cocktail requests from Walter s ( next store drinks). My son moved across the street for school. I am sure he will be back I know I will the next time in town!

We are out-of-province visitors who have dined at 2 Doors Down a few times over several years. We probably won t be back. The food was excellent as usual. The staff were indifferent, all acted like they wanted to be somewhere else. Our server didn t mention the daily special. We had an early reservation, only two other tables when we arrived. When we asked for a different table instead of the table beside the washrooms we were told it wasn t possible to move because the restaurant was fully booked. Half the tables were still empty when we finished our dinner.

The pork belly and scallops app and the featured bruschetta were very good. The duct confit was also very good but the gnocchi was far too rich a sauce and the burger was so salty our friend only ate half. The wedge salad was so drench in dressing I could not eat. At best the service was slow. We had heard some really good things about this restaurant but we were underwhelmed.

We chose this resturant for my birthday dinner. They were very accomindating in our 20 minute late arrive for our 8 pm reservation due to a late train arrival. Our waiter Muzi was so understanding. He stayed with us and provided a birthday candle for my desert long after the resturant had closed at 9 pm. He was kind and helped make my birthday dinner a very special an memorable occasion. I highly recommend this eatery.

We enjoyed a delicious meal and drinks. The food was excellent. The sourdough bruschetta was fantastic. We also had a couple smash burgers which did not disappoint. Our server, Hailey was friendly and very helpful with menu recommendations. The place was quite busy when we arrived yet the ambient noise was very low which we enjoyed after a long day of travel. Highly recommend this restaurant if you re in the Halifax region!

I brought friends from San Fransisco and they loved everything (as did I); from the drinks to the gluten free cornbread to the main dishes. And we all appreciated the fresh locally sourced food. It may not be right on the waterfront but it is a much better choice!

Excellent service, quick and friendly. Drinks well made, one of the best appetizers I ve ever had - bruschetta made with incredibly fresh tasty tomatoes. Burger with salad excellent. Singapore noodles a bit disappointing - rather bland, but scallops / shrimp / vegetables nicely cooked. Will return. Value is excellent. Had a great lunch outside on the patio. I had the Korean chicken sandwich which was great and a VERY good size. The home fries were also delicious. My partner had the noodles which had a curry flavour, which the menu did not specify but it turned out to be very tasty. The best part of the lunch was the VEGAN ice cream cookie. It is not often we find a place with a dairy free dessert and this was delicious.

Amazing find in Halifax! We were told they had the best burgers and it did not disappoint!! Hayley was very attentive and knowledgeable.

2 Doors Down is a great little spot on Barrington Street ! The staff are beyond helpful and diligent in their job. We had a nice young waiter who knew exactly how to take care of us especially and with kindness . The food was ok - well presented but maybe just not what I expected. , I thought there would be more selection and variety in the menu choices .

Pleasant eatery with a public house vibe but more refined. You could consider this a bar but the plated foods are not pub grub . (Although the burgers were popular and looked really good.) Stuffed salmon and Quebec duck leg were excellent. Pleasant street side seating completed the evening.

The only thing that was a bit of a bummer for me is my burger had way too much mustard on it and unfortunately that s all I could taste. The menu is amazing and there are many gluten friendly options - they even have a homemade gluten friendly bun for burgers and lobster rolls! It is delicious! For dessert there are actually choices for gluten friendly eating - so glad to have this! The service is friendly and very accommodating. We were here twice this week! And will return the next time we are in Halifax!

We had a really nice experience here. The food was super tasty, and our server Hailey was such a delight. Kind, helpful, big smile on her face! We had the Smashburger, biscuits and soup. The dessert, a lemon meringue crème brûlée, was seriously to die for.

It was very warm that day, and by extension, very warm in the restaurant.

Several gluten-free options identified on the menu. The waitress knew about celiac disease. There was a mistake in the kitchen with my dish but they redid the order to make it safe. However, the food was not up to par: very dry rice, very fatty pork, very small portions, lamb served without rice or potatoes or even bread to eat the sauce at the bottom of the plate. There was really a lack of love on the plate!!!

Chose this restaurant based on reviews. It was a weird night. We were a few minutes late so they called to insure we were coming and when we got there, there was lots of room. They sat us near the serving island and mid way back although there were empty tables near the front (which didnt fill up), but then again we didnt ask to be moved. Ordered our food and drinks and we finished the appetizer when our cocktails finally came. Having said that and the service kind of lackadaisical, the food was quite good. Think they had an off night for sure.

We arrived and were seated at a cozy table with a great playlist playing not too loudly, so we could hear each other throughout the meal, which was SO appreciated. Unfortunately the service, while kind and welcoming, wasn t strong unclear on alcohol and wine service and lots of confusion about who ordered what. The food was plated beautifully, but over-salted and disparate in size: the scallop carbonara special was large and filling, while the duck confit plate would have benefited from more salad. All in all, a nice evening, but not our best in Halifax.

Server was courteous and friendly but service was slow. We didnt mind as we had loads of time. We ordered the smash burger with fries which was really great and the carbonara with scallops which was bitter, unfortunately. No premium beer available, only local small scale breweries products. Had a lager which was just ok. The happy hour wine was fine. Lemon creme brulee was delicious. No air conditioning so restaurant was warm. Furniture is old, restaurant could use some upgrades. Menu is limited so going often is not likely.

We were there as a group of 6 - one of our party had a shellfish allergy. This was the first restaurant we went to in our visit to Halifax that had a great selection of non-seafood options...as well as some ridiculously delicious seafood dishes! Everyone loved their food and the vibe. If I get a chance, Ill definitely visit again and will 100% recommend to anyone visiting Halifax!

The service was incredibly slow and not very good. We ordered our drinks (beer) and food at the same time. We received food before our drinks and side plates came out dirty. The kale salad was great, but the scallops and pork belly was terrible; the scallops were overcooked, the slaw was fairly flavourless, and the pork belly was meh. Its too bad because, otherwise, it has great atmosphere.

Our food was AMAZING...fresh, delicious, tons of flavours. Everything you want in a meal. Our server was also friendly and attentive. The atmosphere, however, was lacking. There was no music, and it was STUFFY. Like, hot as hell. The heat pump at the back of the restaurant (maybe the only one) was set to 62, but the window behind us was open, and we kept sweating throughout the entire meal. It was too hot to fully enjoy the food, and especially my glass of red wine (which was also served way too warm). We may try 2DD again in the winter, but will avoid for the rest of the warmer months.

Superb restaurant. The best seafood chowder eats in NE. A little noisy on the terrace because of the traffic.

Food was quite good. There was a special on red curry mussels that was very good and should be on the menu, moving forward! Not a fan of either the beer or wine selection. Server seemed very preoccupied and forgot some things, and/or it took a long time to get others. VERY loud party for 3/4 of the visit which was a downer for me as I got a headache.

We loved our meal and service from Katrina so much last night that we can back again for lunch today. LOVED every part and cant wait to come back. For my celiac fam, their fryer is celiac compliant, great options for gluten free, and one of the best homemade icecream sandwiches Ive ever had.

We booked a large group for a business lunch and we were late due to our meeting running over. the staff were extremely accommodating, and managed to get all our meals out in record time so that we could make it to our next meeting! Food was great as well, but the service was superb! Dietary restrictions: gluten free and dairy free options!

Everything was superb as always. One of my kids was missing the Mac and cheese bites that used to be on the menu but soon forgot when their food arrived.

First time at 2DD and it did not disappoint!! From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was wonderful. Greeted with a smile and promptly seated. We immediately had water poured and a carafe left. Our server was friendly and knowledgable about the menu. We both ordered Espresso Negronis and split a plate of calamari. Our mains were beef brisket stroganoff while my friend had Herb and garlic roasted Chicken. Everything was delicious!! We really like how they give you time between courses and never once felt rushed to finish and leave. We both loved the experience and can not wait to go back and sample more of the menu. I d reccomend making a reservation as they may not be able to accommodate walk ins on busy evenings. See you soon 2DD!!

I had a late dinner here on a quiet Monday night. Not many other diners, so the staff were attentive but not looming over my table. Braised lamb shank was delicious and fell off of the bone with almost no effort from me. The real star was my choice from the dessert menu. The vanilla bean cheesecake with salted caramel and chocolate cornflakes (?!). This was, simply put, one of the best cheesecakes Ive had in my life. Light, a pleasant but not overpowering taste, and the slight crunch of the cornflakes added something really special. I honestly might go back before I leave town just to have the cheesecake again!

My hamburger had a very odd, unpleasant taste. Not sure if it was the bacon or the hamburger itself. Pretty much turned me off.

For me, it is the perfect restaurant. Food really feels like what your mom would cook at home but High end, ambiance was warm and cozy without going too far, and the service is friendly and effective. Plus, they had a special attention for us since it was our wedding anniversary. Cant recommend enough

Really enjoyed our pre theatre experience. Enjoyed a nice glass of Pinot Grigio and loved our meals. Great input from our waiter helped me choose a small vegetable quinoa salad and the spicy SP&C! So good!!! The feature burger with fries (so good!) was really enjoyed by my friend. Only issue was we found it a bit cool in the restaurant. Will be back! My best friend and I loved our meals. We both enjoyed a glass of wine, appetizers of Cheeseboard Toastie and Buttermilk Biscuits with whipped molasses butter. Both very delicious. The butter melted into the warm Biscuits perfectly and every ingredient from the thinly sliced apple, spiced pecans to the radish sprouts had its place on the brie covered focaccia. Our mains were just as delicious. The Scallop and Pork Belly and Herb & Garlic Roasted Chicken didnt disappoint. The only thing missing was a piece of bread on the side to enjoy the sauce of the Herb & Garlic Roasted Chicken.

Tried the burger and kale cesar which are good but not great. Johnnys snack bar burger is better. Service is good. Nice atmosphere and old world decor.

Brought some out of town business guests here for dinner. Great place for them to get to as they were staying downtown. Atmosphere was bright, service was very good and the food was outstanding. I had the 2024 Burger Bash special - a Donair Smashburger with honey drizzled onion rings. My guests had the old fashioned burgers with fries. All were amazing, I mean just look at the pic I posted and tell me you cant taste those onion rings! And get the biscuits! Will see you again soon!

The pastas were yummy except it wasn t filling enough. We left and picked up a pizza after. It would be nice if they served some bread or a slice of garlic toast alongside the pasta.

We took the 3 course meal option they are having right now for $40 (+tax) and everything was just delicious! We tried the Kale Salad, the calamaries, the Steak Frite and both dessert options (cant remember their names right now), just perfect! Our server, Kyle, was excellent, always attentive and friendly. 5/5 Experience. The place is cozy and the decor is nice.

Myself and my 10 year old were looking for a bite before the Thunderbirds game. Kids menu was perfect for him (Cheeseburger and fries) I had the Classic Burger and both were absolutely perfect. Our server was Mouzz. Great guy. Well definitely be back.

2 Doors Down has consistently great food and service. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown, it is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Today I got the Quinoa Salad with chicken and it did not disappoint. It was full of vegetables: chickpeas, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet potato, pumpkin seeds. Our server was very friendly, accommodating of food allergies and provided great service. Definitely recommend.

We decided on 2 doors down for our 8th anniversary dinner, and I just had to write a review. The food was absolutely delecious, and the service was spectacular. We will 100% be going again soon.

Visited here for my first time during Dine Around. Was really excited to try their menu and then learned it was last years that was posted. Still found some good options! Overall, the food for us was ok - plating and presentation was brilliant and colourful, but my appetizer and both of our mains, while very tasty with well balanced flavours, werent very hot and my scallops were overcooked. Desserts were both excellent - would go back for the sticky toffee pudding alone! Service was a bit slow and we did have to flag our server down a couple of times but she was friendly. Space was a bit tight at our table and there was no where for coats/bags etc. Overall, I would try eating there again and explore their regular menu.

I regularly have lunch there - one of my favorite restaurants in Halifax. Simple, modern dishes but well executed with quality (local) ingredients. Possibly my favorite burger (Old School Burger) in Halifax. Very satisfying meal each time.

My gf and I dropped in so I could pick up some lunch. We were welcomed warmly, and seated at the bar to wait for my takeaway. Jack, our server, was outstanding. Attentive, friendly, and accommodating. We had a round of 2 Crows lager while waiting, ice cold & tasty. My meal arrived promptly, and I was thrilled to finally have an Old School smashburger w/fries. Culinary perfection in a brown paper bag, imo. I will definitely be back to stay awhile. Excellent staff & a lovely atmosphere.

Its never a good sign when there isnt warm water flowing in the bathroom because thats probably the same water the kitchen staff are washing their hands with after using the bathroom. And we all know well you can wash your hands with cold water. Beyond that, 2 Doors Down was disappointing in other ways. The calamari was hardly seasoned and quite greasy. Mains, which took a very long time to come out, tasted like their proteins were frozen, not fresh. To make matters worse, the first time I tried to order takeout from them, I placed my order and at the very end of the call the waitress told me she just found out they were going to be closed that day for a private function and they wouldnt be able to make my takeout order... What on earth is going on with management and communication?

Halifax gem. I cant believe I dont hear about this place more. The food is exceptional. The Bramble Sangria is dangerously delicious. It was busy and our server let us know there would be a bit of a delay with the food. It was well worth the wait (plus, waiting = another sangria!)

It was just what we were looking for-small, variety, and close to our hotel. We had one of our most enjoyable meals on a cold night: seafood chowder and an order of buttermilk biscuits served with maple butter. Yummy. On top of our good dinner, the staff was gracious and friendly. We ll return on our next visit to Halifax.

Lovely staff, But the Maritime seafood chowder was probably the most underwhelming chowder that i ve experienced. quality of the seafood was great, but the dish in entirety lacked flavour. The chowder also was not accompanied with rolls/bread.

First time here with a couple visiting from out of town. Delicious lamb Tikka, lovely drinks, and great service from Kyle. Will definitely go back! Dietary restrictions: One of our party had dietary restrictions and were easily accommodated. :)

In short, do not stray from the smokehouse burger and order for delivery if you want a 4 or 5 star experience.

Was there for a work dinner earlier tonight and I had the best experience. I love trying chowders when I visit Nova Scotia and this is hands down the best Ive ever had. Unreal. I also got the cod with the gnocchi and spicy tomato sauce. AMAZING! Service was great, our waiter was really nice. Will make this a must-stop whenever I am back.

An hour wait for a salad and burger come on? I am not sure what the appeal is for this restaurant but my wife and I stopped in for lunch at this restaurant was maybe 60% full. The food was ok but slow, slow service. Even trying to pay the server who just ignore us was frustrating. It wasn t until we had our coats and ready to walk out that they wanted to settle the bill. Save yourself the hassle and find a different restaurant.

Their absolutely delicious chocolate peanut butter cheesecake is worth every single extra second you might have to spend on the treadmill !! Dont leave without trying it...

Great ambience, and the nicest servers I ve ever met in Halifax! Has a good variety of drinks on offer at pretty reasonable prices too. Extremely clean unlike other bars in the area. Simply the perfect choice for a quiet drink with friends and plenty of conversation!

Went to try this place out with two friends last week. The place is nice inside with a fancy-ish vibe. They had the best onion rings we ever ate, however all 3 of our smokehouse burgers were atleast 50% raw. We didnt complain as we assumed they cooked medium burgers there but Ive come to learn that is not the case. Chef must of had a bad night.....unfortunately spent over 100$ total for a beer and onion rings each. One friend mentioned the meat wasnt cooked when the waiter asked why she didnt take any bites of it after cutting it in half but the waiter just laughed and said oh. Sadly it could have been a delicious burger if it was cooked properly and not cold throughout.

Went for a small starter around 4pm. The vegan risotto is amazing!! Doesnt taste like coconut at all and super creamy. The kale caesar was great and peanut butter chocolate cheesecake so smooth Kyle, our server, was super friendly and helpful. Food

We had a large group of 20 come in for dinner which the restaurant kindly accommodated. The service was prompt and the food came out in a timely manner despite the group size. The tacos were on point, the brisket was tender and melty, the lobster mac was creamy and flavourful, and the scallops hit the spot.

The food was good and our server seemed like a nice person. Nice people can still be bad at their jobs and give terrible, slow, forgetful and inattentive service though....this was ultimately a terrible experience. We paid over $200 to sit and wait and cancel things our server was constantly forgetting to bring us. We spent more time looking around to see if our server was ever going to come back than we did actually talking with each other. Truly awful, my wife ended up having a terrible Mothers Day and she deserves so much better than that!

A sweet little spot with a decent menu and some interesting specials

Our server, John, was fabulous, from greeting and seating, straight through to wishing us goodbye as we left. The food was Incredible! The Buttermilk biscuits with molasses butter was a beautiful appetizer. I had the Kale Caesar salad with chicken and I loved EVERY BITE. Both of these paired well with the Pop shop-inspired mixed drink I had. The dessert - maple creme brûlée - I could have married that. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the music wasn t so loud that we couldn t have a simple conversation. 100% recommend, and will return.

My event for thirty clients and business partners was a resounding success due entirely to the amazing service, food, and environment of 2 Doors Downs private bar. The staff stayed within budget and every guest felt like the Guest of Honour. I recommend 2 Doors Down Halifax unreservedly.

First time time in Halifax and enjoyed my time at this restaurant. The burgers are great and fries are good. The drinks are on average. Little priced higher on the drinks but then again Im from out of town. The overall atmosphere is good nothing to complain about. The waiters and waitresses are nice. Would come back in the future! Parking: Parking can be a little hard to find. Its free after 6pm but you could end up parking far as theres not much to go around.

Food was beyond excellent! New menu is fantastic! Haddock dish and Scallop dishes were flawless. The Pork Belly appetizer was amazing! Everthing was absolutely perfect!

Food was absolutely delicious! I had the beef bourguignon, and its possibly one of the best Ive ever had! The little pearl onions were perfection, and the beef was tender! Its worth the visit!

It was a blustery Halifax day, a few hours before a snow storm when we stumbled onto 2 Doors Down and decided to have an early supper. The ambiance of the restaurant is great, not overly bright, very clean, appropriate decor for a romantic night out or a lovely gathering with friends around food and wine. The food was delicious. My wife said it was one of the best gourmet burgers shes ever had. They have a fair selection of local libations to choose from at reasonable prices for this type of establishment. Our wait staff was great, Kyle in particular was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

We havent been here for a while but went back after going thru their new menu. The food and ambience definitely didnt disappoint. Everything was flavorful and love the ambience. Muzzi really took care of us. We will be back soon.

Underated gem in Halifax! Been to both locations over several years and am always impressed. Great food, great service, great environment. Never had a bad meal or experience here. The chowder is the best Ive had. Lobster Mac and cheese, chicken parmesan and crusted cod are all great!

We just happened upon this gem and we were so happy with everything. The food was perfect and the service impeccable. It was quite obvious that the staff cares for its patrons. We will definitely return when we come back to Halifax.
