Went there last night for a date night before a movie. I had never been here before so I was going off what I read on google. It was a lot busier then and louder than I thought it would be. It was overwhelming for me when I walked in but I was looking forward to the food. It was so loud that I couldn't even talk with my husband. It got to a point where we just started texting each other. We arrived at around 7 pm and didn't leave till almost 10 pm, a lot of that time was just waiting to get our food. Once the food arrived it was amazing but the wait for very long. When our food arrived my husband ordered a drink to go with it and he didn't get it will he was fully done his food. I loved the food and the staff were amazing. We took the desserts to go and they were happy to do so. Will come back another night and hopefully won't be so busy and loud.
Our servers were fantastic. Great atmosphere and delicious food. Can’t ask for much more!
Great lil gem , used a gift certificate we received and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and food was really good. From the house made brown sugar butter, the aoli …everything was beyond my expectation. Looking forward to my next visit. Definitely recommend the Brussels sprout Caesar salad
Very relaxed atmosphere and good spacing between the tables which I always appreciate! The food was amazing they had really great oysters but the service was the highlight to me! The waitress chatted with us a bit and was very relaxed, we really enjoyed our dinner !
when I saw the place in Google, I think that will be the best starting my trip here, but the actual wasn't like that . I was so disappointed. I eat red lobster all the time, but I've never had such a meatless red lobster in my life. The meat inside the red lobster was removed and cooked in another pan, and 5, maybe 10 grams of it was added. It definitely didn't look like the description on the menu. This was an extremely expensive price for the red lobstor you sold. Also, the waiter literally forces you to tip. late service and long wait. Also, how can you prepare a cocktail this late? I wish I didn't have to pay you $140. It's really a huge waste.
Great place. Best service ever. Waiter Nathaniel was awesome. I had a great time with my friend.
The most wonderful brunch! We had the eggs Bennie, chicken and waffles, and a cinnamon rolls to share. Would absolutely recommend for a quiet and delicious brunch.
Went to Agricola on a date with my husband. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was equally beautiful. The star dish was the pork tenderloin by far, highly recommend 👌🏻The duck pasta was tasty but on the heavy side. The scallops were pretty standard but the opera cake was really well done. Our service was quite slow, so don’t expect to be in and out quickly. It took about 15 mins for our drinks to come. We were lucky to be there on a night that had live music, and the band was incredible. Really made up for the long waits for food.
Utterly wonderful in every way. Excellent service and fabulous food. Great location, as well, although parking can be challenging.
One of the treasures in the north end of Halifax, with a great menu and friendly customer service
Great service, staff and food.
We were in last month to Agricola Street Brassier for an early supper before we left the city. It was my first time at the restaurant but my husband has been a few times. It s been one to go to on my list for years. I want to let you know what an excellent experience we had! From our server Anika who was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the food, not to mention very friendly, to the chefs in the kitchen that I had a great conversation regarding the duck dish they were preparing and how we make our own duck prosciutto at home (they provided a couple tips on other items). That night was definitely one of the best experiences we have had in the Halifax restaurant seen in a long time! We will definitely be back!
Food, service, atmosphere... all amazing. Perfect restaurant for entertaining out of town guests. Cant wait to dine here again!
Friendly service
Excellent experience last evening (Sept 12, 2024) at Agricola Street Brasserie. We were celebrating our anniversary and our daughters birthday. Food and service was excellent and the live jazz made for a vibrant and relaxing atmosphere. Our servers were very attentive, friendly, and really made for an enjoyable evening.
Nice very good food
Arrived for the weekend brunch and was very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and menu. Definitely a more focused menu with fewer options...which is a good thing. Service staff was fantastic, easy recommendation on that alone. Atmosphere was low light, rustic, and very bespoke. A curated list of 50s and 60s music for your listening pleasure as well. My mother-in-law loved it. The food was the low point however. I ordered the Brasserie Breakfast and a decaf iced coffee (Americano but whos counting). The iced Americano was fine but the breakfast...well lets get into it. For $19 you get two eggs, sausage or bacon, four toast halves, beans, and a little tin of ketchup. The potatoes were amazing. 11/10. Highlight of my day. I will dream of this moment because of the potatoes alone. The sausage was well seasoned but fairly dry? Solid 3/5. The niether the beans or ketchup, nor the egg yolk helped. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were undercooked. Clear/goopy whites are not my ideal over easy. Sadly, I was a whole egg in before I realized. The beans were bland and very watery. Just thin beans sadly . And the toast was the most basic, generic white bread imaginable. Like for $19, with the decor and vintage music playing and with the potatoes being so, so good...basic white bread toast was not what I was expecting. I also tried their cinnamon roll. More savory than expected; the cream cheese frosting wasnt fully sweetened. Overall, breakfast was fine. Not sure I would come back to try it again, might have been an off day in the kitchen...and an off day for the sausage...and the beans. Vegetarian options: My wife had the veg Benedict, which was fantastic. She l really enjoyed the mushroom duxell.
It s a good consistent spot that everyone always seems to like. The atmosphere is good but the music can be a tad loud if you re looking to converse or catch up. The decor is lovely, really sultry yet classy. I always get the pasta dish they offer as well as the cheesecake. We have eaten here probably 6+ times in the past two years. Drinks are good. Expect to pay a little more, obviously as it s higher end.
Our waitress was great- the kitchen was painfully slow, longest wait Ive ever experienced. Lovely patio. Will return for sure!
Loved the roof top patio! Made for a great date night. Got oysters, scallops, and we both did steak friet. Loved the creamy onion sauce on the side!!! Was a great time and will be back!
We recently had our wedding at the Brasserie and couldnt recommend it enough. Our guests were blown away by the food and service provided by staff. They catered to all dietary needs and were incredibly responsive during the planning process. The team at the Brasserie are professional and experienced in serving large events, so if youre looking for a beautiful and elegant full-service venue, consider this your sign to choose the Brasserie. They know their stuff! Thank you so much to the amazing staff for making our special day perfect!
Phenomenal food and service.
Delicious food and great service. The interior design was also very nice. Paid a little more than expect I would say and our first table outside had a lot of ants and food bits which was unfortunately. The staff was very kind though and allowed us to move to another clean table.
Popped in to experience the rooftop patio on a weeknight. Fave craft beer on tap and a small list of white and red wine by the glass. Check out their happy hour.
Great ambience. Service top. Food was super tasty but not outstanding.
Anneika was splendid and unbelievable. My friend from out of town said shed come back just for her service. The food was also terrific.
Just go! Its so worth it. The staff are incredible and so attentive.
Really nice atmosphere and really great local food. First came here on burger week and was almost disappointed I hadn t come sooner. Prices were a little expensive but that s the cost of local food (in Canada) I suppose. I would bring someone here if I was looking to impress. When we went it was busy and took a little bit to get our drinks so our server offered us them for free.
I dont give 5 stars very often. I typically find something that prevents me... this place is a 5. Food, service, and the atmosphere were incredible. Very clean... great lighting... love the layout... would definitely recommend anyone to go here!
Came here for brunch and to start, our server was amazing. Didn t catch her name but she was very personable and came to refill our coffee and water at the right times. I had the chicken and waffles which were AMAZING. The spicy sriracha worked well with the maple syrup and the whole meal was like a great concert of flavours. Definitely worth coming here!
Came for a birthday dinner with friends and had a great time! Food was delicious but the star of the night was definitely our server Ethan. He was so friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. I would come back any time and would recommend sitting in Ethan s section if you have the chance! Dietary restrictions: I had the gluten free burger and the bun was surprisingly good.
Great dinner. Special shout out to our server Ethan for going above and beyond.
Ethan was hands down the best server, made burger week burger taste that much better. The 11/10 service from Ethan should be written in service training manuals. Not only was the vibe and food PERFECT and DELICIOUS, Ethan really went above and beyond to sweeten this experience. A+ would recommend! Thanks Ethan, you da man
We searched far and wide for a burger to celebrate our friends 31st birthday with during burger week and found Release the Quack in. Initially we came for the burger, although we ultimately stayed because of Ethan, he made our friends birthday something to remember. Thank you Ethan, we love you!
Prepare to strain your eyes and yell with how dark and loud it is. The food took nearly 45 minutes to come out and was ridiculous portions. The cheese board had small amounts of cheese (3 types including blue cheese which many people have aversions to and 6 types of pickled vegetable which was around $30 So much for being a cheese board). If you re a vegetarian steer clear unless you re fine with 2 app options and 1 main option. Overall it was the classic pretentious restaurant that is not worth the price. Trash is a nice adjective to use for this restaurant .
I am so impressed with our experience dining at the Brasserie. My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and chose the Brasserie for our special night. We were so thankful to have Ethan as our server for the night. Ethan knew his menu items and made sure to tell us everything about the items we ordered. The Agricola Street Brasserie is a well greased engine. With someone running our food, someone else collecting plates, Ethan checking in, you could tell it was a great team. Having worked in the industry I really appreciated how our dining experience went from start to finish. We had the French Onion soup, Brussel sprout Caesar, the Duck, Oysters.. everything was delicious from start to finish. I highly recommend going to the Brasserie! Can t wait to go back!
In one word, perfect.
Thursday live Jazz night. Great food good music, good night at Agricola Street Brasserie.
walked by and decided to eat here. Nice place. We sat outdoors and had some delicious brunch food.
Solo here and call Happy hour. I had a reservation through OpenTable and I will see that fairly promptly. My server was extremely helpful and made sure that I knew about the happy hour drinks menu. I had one of the cocktails which was fantastic, and I had two appetizers. The steak tartare lacked a little bit of taste, however the meat texture was excellent. The caramelized shallot and pear tarte was phenomenal. Pastry was perfectly done and sweetness and tartness balance was perfect. Vibe and energy was good. There was also live music which was a treat! Worth the visit.
I so wanted to love this place and came with the expectation of a great meal and a great restaurant but was terribly let down Salt all night every dish had waaaay to much salt, started with the crustinis to my spouses french onion soup, and then his fries. Way to much salt so much so we dint feel to great afterwards I was excited for the beef Wellington to be let down on the pastry being mushy, and the beef just being a touch too rare another minute and it would have been great. The mashed potatoes with it, felt like a mom n pop dinner mashed potatoes, no excitement and bland. The sauce was great. The full throttle drink tastes way of to much smoke, like drinking charcoal. The atmosphere was beautiful but the music to loud, we could barely hear each other. All in all very disappointed with our Valentine s Day dinner out, and for the expense, honestly it felt like throwing money in the wind.
Go to date spot in the north end. Always great service, awesome wine menu and love the plant based menu item every time we go. Vegetarian options: Amazing plant based options every time we go.
Recently, while in Halifax, I chose to dine at Agricola after carefully considering other options. As a vegetarian, the opportunity to enjoy plant-based dishes as listed on the menu was the deciding factor for me to give it a try. The dish I was served far exceeded my expectations, to the point where I would probably say I had the best dish in the restaurant. If I had to give advice to the restaurant, it would be to more assertively highlight their vegetarian dishes, of which they can legitimately be proud. This should be encouraged, especially in the current context where it is important to reduce our consumption of animal products significantly. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend the restaurant, especially the vegetarian option, even for those who are not. The price is also relatively acceptable. Vegetarian options: The restaurant offers the preparation of a plant-based dish, or at least vegetarian, upon request. However, vegetarian options for main courses are not clearly marked. So I would suggest the restaurant to highlight these choices on the menu. Despite this, the option I chose turned out to be excellent, and I was satisfied. Parking: Free parking according to a specific time slot. Most parking is on the street, but thats the reality of a city.
Super friendly waitress who knew the menu well and helped with all of the questions we asked about it. Cozy atmosphere. Great food
So it was a hard choice whether to give this a 2/3/4 star. last night my family and I went to this establishment for dinner to celebrate an event. the atmosphere and the decor phenomenal. The service was pretty good the first server, pleasant, respectful, amazing. the second server i couldn t tell if we were inconveniencing them or not. Very as expression goes woke which I appreciate it but didn t need.. but this age they have to be very respectful of everything. but it felt like we were inconveniencing her. We get to the food so I got the brasserie burger as far as flavour I would definitely give it an 8/10 as far as presentation 7-8/10 as far as functionality 4/10..it is the sloppiest to the point of disgusting burger to eat. The bottom bun was so soaked in the sauce and the juice of the meat that when you try to hold it, your fingers went right through the bun and it was a disgusting mess , it is to the point that you have to eat it with the fork and knife. It is that sloppy they could rectify this simply by toasting the bottom button that s giving it a capability to withstand all that saturation. The other meals of our dinner, party the steak and not bad way too much meat sauce. The french fries were soaked aïoli sauce was very nice but very pungently lemon garlic.
Its been 5 years since my last review and nothing much has changed. Food is still pretty good. Staff are great. Atmosphere is still cozy. But for me the place is kind of missing a spark. I enjoy sitting at the bar and enjoying a cocktail but a seated meal isnt a special experience. I never come away saying wow odd since all the ingredients are there. And air driers in the bathrooms, gah. Still a nice stop for a beverage on Agricola.
Was very disappointed about this establishment. The venue has a nice ambiance to it and the music was pleasant. The service was unusual as numerous times the waitress took items from our table and we had to request that she return them (e.g. our wine glasses while we were still consuming a bottle). The portions were on the small side although in a place such as this you are paying for the quality and not quantity. However, both of our meals were served cold and the food was nothing special. The highlight of the meal was the dessert which was good, but not great. The worst part was that I became terribly ill from the food shortly after we left. Based on poor food/service in addition to becoming ill from the food, I will not be returning!
2 stars for the food but no star for the terrible behaviour towards the cooks. I feel so sad for the cooks. Idk why the chef yells at them. So, I wouldn t recommend them at all.
I have never been , and my best friend recommended that we go for dinner for the Pre-Fixed menu (Sunday-Thursdays). I love the detailed little note on the inside of the menu. The place aesthetically amazing, so detailed in classic brasserie style. It was very busy and there were a lot of larger groups, however the staff was amazing and our server was too (I forget your name but thank you for being so kind and genuine!!). The food was some of the best food Ive ever had and now one of my favorite restaurants. We both had the caeser with brussel sprouts (one of the best appetizers / salads again that Ive ever had) with steak frites, cooked to perfection with an amazing sauce. There are desserts but we were so full (get an option to go its worth it) Thank you again for the amazing meal and hospitality. I will be back:) P.S. make a reservation! this is a busy trendy spot, super worth it.
We enjoyed a private function with an awesome selection of Hors-d uvres. The tuna, scallops, chickens skewers were amazing. Even better were the servers. Very attentive. Great craft brew selection at the bar too. And the atmosphere was awesome too. Loved it!
The surprise as one walks in to see the décor, service staff attentiveness, menu planning to food execution, amazing. Calamari frites, which looks simple but difficult to execute, was text book. The deserts well done and the mains were great.
I got the Chicken Cordon Bleu. For $32, or even if it was $5, it was terrible! Totally tasteless and not cheese to be found. Just a bit of ham stuck to one side and served cut in half???
Great dining experience. The kitchen is uniquely visible, the staff are amazing and the atmosphere was great; dim lighting & cool wine-bottle glasses. Its a little pricey, but the food is worth it. Yum!!! Food
Visited with a large group. The atmosphere, meal, and servers were excellent! I have celiac disease and it was nice to enjoy a great gluten-free meal.
The food was great! Expensive for us, but very nice! Good selection of local craft beers on tap. I loved the steak and one of my friends loved the duck poutine.
Had a excellent dining experience, wine was great, dishes were delicious. Our server Anika was knowledgeable and friendly!
Visited this great establishment on Tues. Feb.7th.Every thing was perfect...service,food, decor and parking on street. They sell bottled foods, but, not the sauce they serve for oysters. It is made with onions, blueberries, vinegar etc, DELICIOUS. If they sold it I would certainly buy for myself & for gifts !! Vegetarian options: Noticed on menu, but, not interested,so did not read. Parking: Found 1 very close to entrance.
Great experience. Love the food and atmosphere.
We booked a table many weeks ahead looking at the great reviews, but if you are looking for a good meal and customer service, do not go to this place. The starters were small portions done, the mains were poorly done. Only thing good was the beer on tap.
Beautiful location. Best home fries. Great food. Excellent coffee.
Incredible dinner! We ordered the Brussel Caesar salad for a starter which was amazing and different. Mains we ordered steak frites and the burger both top notch. Arriving at happy hour was an added bonus with draft beer for $6. This has become #1 on my list of recommendations if you are looking for great food. 10/10
10/10 - one of the gems of Halifax, the Brussels Caesar Salad is next level & the atmosphere is so chill. Will absolutely be coming back.
Agricola Street Brasserie did everything right. The design and atmosphere is outstanding. The service was exceptional. I wish I could recall my servers name but he did a terrific job. I went for Brunch. Menu was the right size. The options made it tough to choose. I had a cappuccino which was great. Brasserie Breakfast and Duck Confit Hash were chosen. Cinnamon Roll and Danish Pastry were add-ones. Food was a 10/10. I am looking forward to heading back for dinner soon.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Love that they have duck on the menu.
One of my favorite dinners during our visit to Halifax. My family stayed in the neighborhood and walked here for dinner one night. Fantastic food, drinks, and atmosphere. I also have some dietary restrictions (gluten-free / dairy-free)and they were so kind and willing to accommodate. Would definitely go back next time I visit the area!
Great venue, beautiful decor, amazing service! I got the Deville cocktail, it was refreshing and delicious. I also got the daily vegetarian option which was okay. Still tasty and ate most of it, just nothing special or notable about it. It was fried risotto patties with vegetables. Overall, good experience, no complaints, but didnt blow my socks off. Would come back.
Honestly not impressed. Went for burger week and expected great things for $18 burger. What we got was cheap Bens bun (untoasted) an under seasoned over cooked patty, and house an additional 4 bucks for fries. Service was great. Atmosphere quaint but last time I go there to eat.
Food was excellent
great food and drink, lovely atmosphere
My partner took me to Agricola Street Brasserie for my birthday yesterday. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and sat by the kitchen bar. It was the best culinary experience I ve ever had in Halifax. The service was amazing, the dishes were beautiful and delicious and the wine pairings were phenomenal. I would definitely go back any time.
Just an incredible place The staff are so kind, and have an amazing space!
First time here, restaurant was maybe a quarter full. It took 20 minutes to take our order and another half hour for the appetizers to arrive. The entree was brought at least a half hour after our appetizer plates were removed. I had to ask how much longer it was going to take, there were three people in the kitchen and one person had his entire meal plus dessert before we even got our entree and he arrived after us. Meal was fine, 2 burgers and a cordon bleu. Brussel caesar salad was tasty, the 3 scallop appetizer was over priced for 19$. All in, it was two hours and painfully slow service. Took the dessert to go, we were just over it. Suggestion that when it is obviously taking way too long, check in with the customer to update, I don t appreciate having to ask. Not sure what service is like at capacity!
Great friendly staff
nice patio
We only went for Espresso Martinis but they were great and the service was even better. The decor and ambiance is really nice, what a great place to enjoy a few cocktails! Ill definitely come back and try their food.
Food was really good...but dont be in a hurry 2 courses out of 3 and still here after over 2 hours
Surprisingly nice place for a good eat. Loved the ambiance and staff.
Great food. always amazing service. I go there every time Im in Halifax
Very friendly staff. Great spot to stop for dinner or drinks.
Luckily, the weather was nice enough for us to be able to eat on the surprisingly large roof terrace. Laura (or was it Lara) looked after us really well. I had the guava cocktail, which I recommend, and a glass of montepulciano. My wife had the non-alcoholic wine. We shared the whipped brie as a starter. For mains, my wife had the halibut. For me, they did the duck pasta without the duck and with mushrooms instead, gorgeous. I would recommend it. Vegetarian options: Although the menu doesnt look great for veggies, just ask!
Was at a wedding there, very accompanied.
Delightful great service, food and drinks. Make sure to have brunch on the roof top patio.
Great place with good food and fresh oysters.
Had a wonderful experience at Brasserie. The atmosphere, food and staff are all excellent. Good portions and really well done apps and mains. They make all their bread, sauces, sausages and preserves in house which I think is rare now a days.. The duck was cooked perfectly and overall flavourful dishes. The cocktails were also great. We also shared the coconut cream tart, it was really pleasant and not too sweet which i love myself. Our waitress Shannon was so attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and kind. Fully recommended and will definitely be back to try more menu items!
Be prepared for a long wait for the meal to arrive. We came at 6:45 and our meal was delivered out to at at 9:20. I ordered the hamburger. It was soggy and on a cheap Bens bun and the fries were also soggy and greasy. For 22 dollars I would expect a homemade bun and perhaps sweet potatoe fries. And for 22 there should have been some kind of garnish on the plate. I was actually sick after eating the greasy fries and to be honest would have rather had a fast-food meal. I really was not impressed and very disappointed. The food was overpriced for the quality. The waiters were pleasant but it took them forever to bring the bill or even update us on why our meal was taking so long. I will not be going back.
Came here as we are visiting and was recommended this spot but was pretty disappointed. We came in around 9pm. The restaurant did not appear busy, maybe 7-10 other tables in the restaurant and about 4-5 floor staff. We sat down and after a couple minutes had our drink order taken, the server said she was super busy and would be right back to take our food order. It wasn t until 9:25 that our drinks came by, and she still did not take our food order. We were getting upset because we know the kitchen closes at 10. It was not until about 9:35-9:40 our server took our food order, and before even collecting our dinner menus, she asked us if we will be getting dessert because if we do, she will have the kitchen stay later. This was kinda awkward because we didn t know if we d be full or not. We got our oysters and given they were $38 for a dozen, we were disappointed how small they were. We also had nobody explain what the sauces that came with the oysters were. The food was good but for the price and how the reviews of this place are, we found the food to be somewhat bland and lacking in salt, especially the tartare. My Partner is a chef and we have brother worked in restaurants for close to a decade, so we were underwhelmed by the entire experience. The service was maybe a 4/10 but she was very polite and seemed personable. I think her name was either shannon or sharon.
The service is really great at this place, our server was on the ball and knowledgeable. The brews on tap are top shelf, I had the duck which was tough and too salty. Will give this place another shot with a different dish as I liked the venue that is out the tourist trap area, still on the pricy side if you are disappointed in the dish...
We came in for brunch and what we ordered: Brasserie breakfast, Duck confit hash, Hen in a hole, and the Brisket with eggs. Overall, the food was OK but can be improved. The best thing we tried was the brisket (it was delicious, although a bit dry). The duck from the confit was slightly too salty. The home fries were slightly old / dry tasting (it came alongside for various dishes). Portion sizes were fair for most dishes. The (negative) exception was the Hen in a hole. For $17, the dish provided only a bit of eggs and cherry tomatoes on top of 2 bagels - very overpriced. The bagels were hard, and only some small slices of avocado was provided. I think this menu item needs to be revisited on either adding a few more things / reducing the price. Service and staff was kind and attentive, decor was beautiful with seating was spacious.
Came for brunch - limited menu selection, but flavours generally are solid. Would avoid the Hen In a Hole dish for $17 which was a plain stale bagel with a cherry tomato, egg, and a thin slice of avocado completely not worth it.
Loved it
They taking one star because sometimes there are too loud, staff members don t do proper work with guests. People just go crazy inside and outside. I hear from people who loves in area that they still serving alcohol after closing and at silent time . Fix that and you ll be good.
The Brasserie has been consistently a great place to eat a meal at or have a drink. We love it so much that we had our wedding here. Leading up to the wedding and the day of, the staff were so kind, knowledgeable, and helpful! We wouldnt hesitate to recommend the Brasserie to anyone for a meal or a large private event!
Always a great experience, food is amazing and having a rotating vegan option is great, I have loved every one that I ve tried! Loved every meal I ve had here and it s always on the top of my list for a meal out!
Beautiful interior, immaculately clean, unbelievably good food, very intimate atmosphere. Our server, Ben, was professional, charming and informative. Had an incredible evening and will definitely be back if were ever back in the city. Thanks for helping make our thanksgiving weekend amazing.
Thank you to Mel, Alicia and the entire team. We hosted our wedding here and each step of the way was so easy. People have been talking non-stop about the food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend this place for dinner with friends or hosting an event. Thanks again!
Worst food Ive had in Halifax. Octopus was horrible. Cant serve a burger to save their souls Staff had a lot of attitude! Skip this place. Basic!
Delicjous food, great atmosphere. we had a large group and the service was fantastic, even accommodating my plant based preferences. Highly recommend!
Awesome place to visit as a couple or as a group! We came as a large group of 20 for a pre-wedding dinner and reserved the private dining area on the upper level. Amazing dinner and drinks!
Great spot, an issue with a friends duck dish that was extra hard and fatty, but otherwise a nice spot for a relaxed night out.
11/10. Absolutely phenomenal experience. We are frequenters at ASB and decided to host our entire wedding there in Oct. 2023. Melissa and her staff were SO patient and SO experienced. Nothing is out of the question as they can make anything possible. Your booking includes set-up and tear down by the staff, HUGE win. The staff were all so lovely and helpful. And obviously the space is GORGEOUS; very little decorations are even needed in the romantic moody room. We did our ceremony on the roof and it was SO special. Food incredible. We did a standing cocktail dinner and we had more than enough and continue to received compliments over the menu. This is SUCH an awesome spot!
Live jazz band was incredible!!! The food is top notch - everything made in house (even ketchup) and it shows! Such incredible value for what is a true high class cuisine. Love the bread to begin with too. Steak tartare was incredible
It was our first time for my husband and I and the waitress was amazing. Cant remember her name but she was excellent. Food was delicious. My husband Loved his French Onion soup and our mains were so good too. I loved the Escargot that I had for an appetizer and the Beef Wellington was amazing. We were too full to have dessert.
First time there and not one thing to complain about or be better... Food and service was phenomenal! Cant wait to come back and do again... Second visit was just as phenomenal. Incredible service and food. The price fix menu is a great deal early week. Currently celebrating a 10th anniversary with specials from their first menu...
My second time visiting; first time for dinner. In a word, fantastic! Great music, that is relaxing and still allows you to carry in a normal conversation. ill be back. .
Our server was so kind & knowledgeable about the menu. I had the beef wellington, which was delicious, and the atmosphere is top notch! We will be back for sure :)
Our companys Christmas party was here this year and everyone enjoyed the great food options. Baby baked potato appys? Yes, please!
We had an awesome dining experience from start to finish. As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the decor and the atmosphere. The lighting was dimmed and a live band was playing. The hostess greeted us at the door and took us to the table. Our server was Holly who took great care of us. Once we had a chance to look through the menus, she took our drink and food orders. Other staff made sure our water glasses were always filled and brought complimentary bread to start. We had the escargot and scallops appetizers. Both were delicious. Our mains were Beef Wellington and lamb shank. The entrées were cooked beautifully and we savored every bite. In the end, we were too full for dessert! Thank you to all the staff for our wonderful night out.
Surprisingly well run, with friendly staff.
The weather was rainy. So nice and cosy. I ate too much because the pasta was SO good. The service was perfect timing and the waiter was great. I will be back for sure. :)
Ive dined at the Brasserie a few times since moving to Halifax and I have never been let down! The atmosphere is cozy, yet classy and inviting. The staff are always prompt and friendly. The menu is incredible, I always get the Duck and I am never let down. The wine menu, and cocktail menu are vast and delicious. I cant say enough good things about the Brasserie. Top spot in Halifax
Went for the first time in a long time and was delighted. Drinks were amazing and food was delicious but the thing that stood out was definitely the service. Noah and Mona made our night. Can t wait to go back
We ate here for the first time with friends on Valentines Day and it will also be our last. The service was excellent but none of us were impressed with our food. I ordered the $65 three course meal which came with 3 scallops to start. Seriously, 3 scallops? I ordered the tenderloin medium rare but came almost blue rare. The green beans were so undercooked I had to cut them with a knife, and the carrots hadnt been cooked through either. However, the dessert and cocktails were exceptional. We both left hungry after paying $150 for our meal. I dont understand a restaurant that justifies charging these prices and executes the service so poorly. Its not that hard to a steak, let alone cook green beans and carrots.
Great restaurant, excellent food, great red wine lineup...Ill be back!
Impeccable service. Absolutely delicious food! The duck was served perfectly medium rare. The mashed potatoes somehow made a normal dish extraordinary! We will definitely be back
One of the best meals I ve had in Halifax. Amazing food and service.
Both the duck breast and steak meals were delicious, and portions were generous. This is a great place to visit for dinner! The duck confit gnocchi app was really great, with super flavourful sauce. Update Feb 2022, the dine around menu was delicious both times I went!
Paid $50 for my meal and was served raw potatoes. When I communicated to the staff that they were under cooked, I was told that is the intended effect of the recipe. Pretty brutal not to acknowledge a customer s dissatisfaction, especially at such a high price point. Beautiful atmosphere, but unfortunately I won t ever be able to convince my partner to return after having our concerns about the food dismissed. We felt legitimately ripped off, it s expensive and we were so disappointed that the kitchen denied our concern when we were unhappy with the preparation of the dish. At this price point, that s unacceptable.
Their vegan brunch is great.
Locally focused menu and beautiful space. Fairly traditional choices on the menu but well presented and tasty. Sometimes difficult to hear inside even when not full- something to do with acoustics but it is a lovely space.
Brunch was fantastic! And the staff were just as fantastic.
Ordered with skid the dishes to our hotel. We ordered 2 steaks meals and a cheese plate. First with the cheese plate. They put a bunch of pickled vegetables on top of the cheese and fruit so everything tastes like pickles. Un edible. Then we ordered 1 steak medium rare. Its raw. Cant eat it. Plus the steaks are extremely small. $112.00 wasted. We ordered McDonalds. It was a better meal.
So I ll start with the positive. Attentive waiter, great vibe and good craft beer selection. But people, how do you serve a burger of that poor quality. For $20 mind you. (which took very close to a full hour to get to us after ordering), way way over done- I d say charred almost. And the bun was like a cheap bens bread type soft soggy bun. Eesh. The server said they re having supply chain issues. lol- he could have followed me to Costco for some brioche buns.
Great atmosphere, great food. Definitely a Halifax gem. Highly recommend the house pasta
Love this spot. Everything on menus is awesome
Wowed from the time we entered the door! What a beautiful spot! Their attention to detail is incredible. Service was timely and perfect and the food was next level!! Cant wait to go back!
Great brunch spot. Excellent food and service. Nice modern atmosphere.
Absolutely lovely! I lost both of my sons, tragically, and so I took myself here for mothers day brunch. The staff is wonderful! The food is amazing and elegant and fresh! Cant say enough good things about the ASB! Except thank you, with all my heart!
Had a lovely convocation meal here for a group of 6. We all enjoyed all meals. They made a special meal for the vegan at our table which she thoroughly enjoyed. Found the a/c very cold though
Food was truly amazing. Great drink selection, amazing server. Wish I remembered her name she was funny, and made for a memorable experience.
Amazing Food
The staff were very friendly and efficient. It was busy and our food was served hot. Being burger week exceeded all expectations. Well done
This was an incredible dining experience. The food presentation and quality was exceptional. Our server, Christian, was funny, respectful and perfectly attentive. Looking forward to our next experience at Agrcola Street Brasserie.
After not being out to dinner for 2 years, decided to try this restaurant for our 40th anniversary. I was set on the duck and my husband was looking forward to the lamb shank which was on the menu presented to us, however due to a changing over of menu items, the shank was not available. A bit disappointing for my husband as this is a favorite of his. We both had the duck which was perfectly prepared and delicious. There was a glitch with my husbands appetizer which was brought to the servers attention. While there was no acknowledgement from the manager during our meal, the issue was addressed by having the item removed from the bill. This was sufficient to change our minds from never returning, to giving it another try in the future. Just another note is that both our server and another, were only on their 4th day of service. Although they were very nice and attentive, it was evident that they needed a bit more training on the menu and use of the ordering system. Also a bit more shade coverage on the upstairs patio would be perfect as it is a beautiful space, but the sun glare was too much and with such a lovely day we didnt want to be cooped up inside.
Awesome rooftop patio, amazing food, and best of all...top notch service. Helped me pock out my favourite cheese in Nova Scotia.
We had a amazing time at this restaurant. My wife and I had the best dining experience that we have ever had in Halifax. The food was cooked perfectly and the service was delightful. Our server gave great recommendations for both food and cocktails. Would highly recommend. 10/10
Although the food was delicious, I have to bump it down to three stars because of some rather strange and inattentive service. After sitting down we had to wait a very long time for someone to come take our order. When we were ready to go I had to go downstairs to locate someone to get our check after waiting for 15 minutes. We were ignored by a server who saw us trying to get their attention and even after locating our own server she still tended to other tables before handing us our check without any apologies for the wait. The establishment was not busy on this day and they did not seem understaffed.
I feel like we must have eaten at a different restaurant, given all the 5 star reviews. But our meals were absolutely nothing special. The pork chop was tough. The mushroom and duck confit pasta was pretty tasteless and the mushrooms were super chewy (and not in a good way). One of our least favorite meals in the HRM during our recent trip.
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service! Never had a bad experience here before.
Anneika is an absolute gem! And the duck is amazing. Must have!!
My drink was very good (I forget the name, but it had tequila and jalapeno). I had the duck and mushroom pasta and it was cooked well, but very bland. My friend had the same dish and thought the same. Our other friend had chicken and it was well cooked, but bland as well. Our 4th friend had the asparagus Caesar and scallops and liked them both.
Our server was not really present. We had to ask all our questions to the water girl. The food was delicious.
Great atmosphere. However, I ordered the fish, which was tuna that day, and it was very dry. For the price I expected better.
Food was excellent and service was extremely helpful and friendly.
We loved it. All the food tasted fresh. Anika was wonderful! She really provided excellent service.
Excellent and friendly service, beautiful interior, and steak tartare was great. But the fish was very dry and bland, the burger was overcooked and seemed very overpriced for what it is. I would only recommend coming here for apps and drinks.
Sat on the rooftop patio in the shade for brunch. Very nice, relaxed brunch with friendly service. Eggs Benny was delicious. Nicest hollandaise I ve ever tasted.
Steady-Eddie for fine(r) dining. I take friends, family, and clients here without hesitation.
The best combination of steak and mushroom sauce. Ever!! Seriously need no seasoning its perfect! Wow
Excellent!
5 stars to our server, Alex! We were visiting with friends and family from away, and of course the food was great but Alex really made the overall experience. He was so personable and just added his own flare to his service. The Agricola St Brasserie will always be a go to for us! Delicious food and amazing service!
Wonderful food and lovely staff. The patisseries and desserts were amazing.
Very nice spot, great interior. We sat at the bar, and ordered a couple drinks and desserts. The bartender made a special off the menu drink, and it was delicious. Dessert was wonderful, and a good portion size as well. Would recommend.
Beautiful restaurant, friendly attentive service, the duck was delicious and nicely plated. Drinks (beer on tap) were great.
We ate here as a group and were seated above the kitchen in a cozy space that was large enough for our 15 or so people. We had a choice of appetizers main course and dessert. I enjoyed my calamari, it was cooked perfectly and was definitely sharable in size. I couldn t eat more than half of it as I wanted to enjoy my main , the herbed chicken. The herbed chicken was a mixture and not the usual breast meat by itself. The accompanying veg and sauce tasted great. For dessert they hit it out of the park with cheesecake. I enjoyed my meal but would have loved it if I d read the menu in better light. The green bean Caesar looked amazing and everyone who had it cleaned their plates. However the filet mignon were undercooked but still had great taste. The bread pudding was yummy as well.
The steak and fries were really good but not exceptional.
Came here the last 2 days, Nathaniel was our bartender both days. Made us amazing cocktails, and had great conversation! Food was really good, and ambience nice as well!! 10/10 Will deff be back next time in Halifax, thanks Nathaniel!
Amazing eggs cooked just right
Went there Nov 12th, for a private event, the Hors-doeuvres were delicious and the staff were very attentive!
Wow. What an experience! I was there for a closed door Christmas party with my employer and had a great time. The drinks were great, food was perfectly cooked and the place itself is beautiful. I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely return.
Food, service, setting were all great
Excellent service and food.
The atmosphere and the drinks were excellent. My mushroom pasta was just ok, with nice texture and good portion size, but quite bland. Carrot cake was excellent! Relaxing air conditioned space on a sweltering summer evening!
This was a great atmosphere, the menu was diverse, week priced and tasty. Good selection of draft beer, and blankets for when it cooled down were a nice touch.
Loved the food and amazing staff!
We both agreed that this was one of the best restaurants we have eaten at. When we came through the door the smell of bread baking got me off to a good sense that we would have a great meal. Started off with scallops (perfect). My friend had the asparagus Caesar salad (soooo good). We both had the Steak and Frites (cooked perfectly) as ordered. Dessert was amazing. Carrot Cake (yum) We spent almost 2 hours savouring each bite. The staff was amazing. Attentive and friendly and answered our queries about the food we were ordering. Kudos.
Food was delicious, server was great. Not getting 5 stars because service was slow. Did make up for it with free dessert. Will definitely be back.
Stopped for a patio drink while shopping with my 3 year old, and the staff treated her like one of their best customers and fixed her a non alcoholic cocktail shes still talking about.
Excellent place went for wedding, food was great, awesome atmosphere
Forgot what it was called but had something with salmon on it for brunch - holy hell it was delicious. Also, their cocktails will get you a proper boozy brunch.
Fancy but not too pricey. I was first struck by the detail in the interior design. Very neat and ambient vibe put us in the right mood for delicious mushroom pasta and wine. The server was great and helpful. The overall experience was great and Id definitely come back again!
The most amazing first experience here! The bartenders choice drinks were insanely tasty! The bartender was soooo friendly and knowledgeable, made my night! 100% recommend this place if you want to try the best cocktails in the city!
It was my first time here and it was very nice. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice change of scenery type dining.
A little pricy but worth it.
Great place to celebrate Burger Week. Food and beer selection + service all excellent. Really nice vibe.
Food was scrumptious and well constructed. Nice wine list and drinks menu. Service is super friendly and welcoming.
Burger week burger was excellent.
Make sure to call ahead to get a reservation. Very nice restaurant, really cool ambient decor and lighting inside. Pretty pricey but great food. Definitely on the fancier side amongst restaurants in Halifax.
I originally went here because theres a board game called Agricola and I thought it was funny. We went late on a Thursday or something and the kitchen was only doing appetizers, but I tried steak tartare for the first time and it was pretty good. Very nice venue and great selection of drinks.
was here on burger week, so good, great waiter also, was quite pleased and will be back soon
Very nice decor, food was awesome and the wait staff very personable.
Private function. Couldnt have been better. Lots of great food, super friendly staff, spacious venue. Loved it.
Second year in a row weve used an RCR venue for our office Christmas party and this year did not disappoint! The atmosphere was excellent (your Christmas tree was absolutely stunning), the private space is tucked out of the way at the back of the restaurant/upstairs so we felt like we were the only people in the restaurant. Anneika and the rest of the staff did a wonderful job ensuring every need was met. 10/10 had a great time. Thanks Mel & team!
