Great food and great service! The bread service was really good with multiple options, food is prepared well with great flavor choices per meal. Their signature squid ink garlic mayo was cool to try. Service was excellent from initial reception with coat service to food service with the right number of check-ins!

Had the Buffalo chicken waffle & fries. Very good, tasty! Didnt like the squid garlic mayo for the fries and wasnt told about it until it was served but was also offered ketchup when arrived. Pretty good experience until the end when my 11 month old fell out of their highchair. She was buckled in and the buckle somehow let go. They didnt seem overly concerned and they didnt do an insident report nor did they ask for my information to do one later! Extremely disappointed with how they handled it and didnt even apologize. Really not sure if I would go back.

Nice place .. the food was great .. the lamb croquettes were nice and crispy and well seasoned. The eggs benny was amazing.. the squid ink aioli for the fries was a little bland but the rest of the dish was amazing! The chowder was great as well.. the desserts were all very tasty could have been a less sweeter..it was very sweet for my taste but the flavours were really really nice

Took my son here for his Birthday last week and I can honestly say this is one of the best places I have been to yet in Halifax(and I love good food) The atmosphere was pleasant, service was great and the food was 10/10 The seafood chowder was delicious I cannot wait to return in the New year

My mum had a great brie burger (the fries were fantastic) and I had the tartar, I love ordering it in general but this was honestly as good as the tartar I had a Michelin star restaurant. We will definitely be coming back here again!

It s not every day you experience so many flavours at dinner, and let s just say I m speechless. We had the bread and butter compote to start (lemon poppy seed), Fettuccine with scallops and my fiancé had the steak and frites. The only thing I wasn t obsessed with was how straight the back was on the booth seats but it s such a minor detail it doesn t take away from the experience !

The service is top notch and the food is really amazing. Me and my partner have allergies and they are very understanding and accommodating. 5/5 would go here again. Dietary restrictions: I have seafood allergy while my partner has gluten and nut allergy and they were accommodating.

Very nice place in a nice building. I took the lobster raviolis and enjoyed it a lot. A lot of flavor in this plate. The plate was big enough for me for a dinner. The service was good and I will recommend this restaurant for the ravioli.

I ordered the lobster roll with salad and the creamsicle fizz to drink. Both tasted good. I enjoyed the bread used on the lobster roll and the salad. The lobster didn t really stand out.

The interior is beautiful, romantic enough, cozy, but the light is too dim for me (but this is my subjective opinion). Location - the restaurant is located in the down town, i.e. in the city center, which, unfortunately, means the absence of its own parking lot and you have to look for it, and it is paid even on weekends. Food - not very many, in fact, menu items if we are talking about the main dishes. There are few gluten-free dishes, which, for example, was a problem for us. We had to order soup and salad because we have restrictions on the types of meat we can eat and therefore, actually, vegetarian soup is all we could order. It was delicious, I have no complaints, but its still a pity that there is such a limited selection of gluten-free meat dishes. We ordered tea and I liked that the tea cup was warm (despite the fact that it was empty), and the tea was served separately in a teapot). Service - everything here was top notch, the girl who served us was as attentive as possible, she knew the menu and the composition of the dishes well, she could tell us what dishes we could order, taking into account the restrictions we had. But still, I deducted one star. I was out of paper towels. As always, in the restaurant there is a cloth napkin in which the cutlery is wrapped and which we put on our laps when we eat, but I cannot wipe my lips, for example, with that napkin, for this I need paper ones, but they were not on the table and no one offered . This is my humble opinion, it was uncomfortable for me. Well, the shortcomings of the menu that I wrote about above also played a role in the evaluation. And in general, I can recommend this place, we liked it. Vegetarian options: Norwegian carrot soup

Finally I got my Lobster Roll and an incredible fresh fish and chips! Great service! Excellent food. We will go again

My wife specifically asked for a gluten free option. That is why we didnt question why the bread took extra time. It wasnt until we were paying and she asked if it was a gluten free sourdough, the waitress replied that it wasnt gluten free, but we have gluten free bread. Luckily she is not celiac but only very sensitive to it. Aside from that the food was delicious.

Great service, good vibe, and absolutely amazing food. The seafood chowder was great, as was the fish and chips. Im so glad we saved room for dessert, because the Halifax Mess and Lemon poppyseed cake were stellar

Excellent food and even better customer service. We were very early for our reservation but it was not a problem at all. The manager sat us immediately and we enjoyed a delicious meal. The atmosphere is fine dining but the dress can be casual, to business casual. We felt right at home in our Blundstones. The manager even ran down the street to catch us when I left my phone on the seat. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Great place.

A friend and I came here for a great dinner. We both loved our meals. The food was sooo good & the service was very friendly. I had the lobster ravioli and I would 100% go back for it again. It was rich, decadent and creamy.

Food was delicious (expensive but delicious) however throughout our meal there were multiple mice running throughout the restaurant. Understandably it is an older building as well as next to a brewery therefore making it difficult to control, however if you do not enjoy seeing mice while you have your expensive meal I suggest going elsewhere. It is important to note that the service was fantastic and our server was as very attentive and helpful and this review should not reflect negatively on his part. For a restaurant attempting to portray itself as a fancy restaurant with high quality food and service I simply believe there shouldn t be mice frolicking about the floor.

Great atmosphere but the food was the worst that I have had on my vacations. The halibut was cooked perfectly so props to that but the rest was absolutely awful, including the lobster roll. Cant complain about the service at all as they were so nice and accommodating and the establishment was very nice. They need a menu change or different chefs.

Great cocktails, service, atmosphere and excellent service. Well go back. We went back. Had the Pasta and the Lamb, very little protein in either, not nearly as good as the ravioli. Left hungry, probably wont be back for their dinner. Food : 3/5

A restaurant with a great atmosphere, suitable for gatherings with friends. Seafood Italian restaurant. The dishes look good, but the taste is a bit thin. Oyster is fresh, the lobster dumplings are delicious, and the scallop spaghetti tastes a bit dry and hard. Very good service

Staff were super friendly. Quick to pick up the phone if you want take out. Clean and organized. Food tastes great!! We had the lamb and seafood spaghetti. Would highly recommend =)

We decided to try the Black Sheep after finding it on the way to Da Mauricos the menu looked good - good variety. We dined on the roof top patio which is beautiful, with lush greenery and very unique seating. They have an every large drink menu, good selection of non- alcoholic beverages. The fact there wasn t a chefs special was very disappointing, but we also informed there is no substitutes. Which I found weird , if you don t want leeks perhaps it would be nice to offer a beet or carrot instead of the short and Kirt response of we don t do substitutes So we ended up just ordering Fish & Chips instead of the Halibut or Gumbo. It was okay not sure when I ll return but otherwise it mediocre.

Came here just for drinks and they had plenty of seating! Unique bar with a rooftop that is covered and between buildings so it doesn t get too windy or cold. Cocktails were good but on the sweeter side. Didn t have food so can t comment on that but friendly and attentive staff!

Great food, service and value

This place hit all the spots! I only wish the portions were a little larger, given the appetite that we had built up waiting for our food to arrive (we went on a Saturday night so it was quite busy). The lobster ravioli was delicious, fresh pasta wrapping lobster-rich filling in a creamy chive sauce. We also had the rum cake, which was tasty. Service was great - our waitress was lovely.

We are visiting on vacation. Came in for dinner and the hostess basically said she wont seta us just in case patio folks need to come in. It was drizzling and stopped she said 15 minutes to wait to see the situation and then did not take our name. Not the best experience as a visitor.

The food was very eye-pleasing. Small menu just meant that they had fresher tastier food! We each got what we wanted (I had the lamb croquettes )Very pleasant experience!

Its a fantastic place to enjoy desseet I do love Lemon Poppy seed Layers Cake with Apple Cider Well Ill try the food next time here It s a nice place. There are two flavors of cider. One is sour and the other is slightly sweet. I recommend trying the desserts.

The service was a little off. It was a busy Friday night with an event happening upstairs. So perhaps that is why the service was a little off? I had the sourdough tomato starter. It was advertised as having heirloom tomatoes, which was the whole reason I ordered it. It was not heirloom tomatoes. It was Costco mixed small tomatoes at best. They also put waaaay too much salt and waaaaay too much pepper on it. It is nice to see that restaurants like the black sheep advertise that they use local ingredients. But make sure what you advertise is what you sell. Providing Costco tomatoes when you ve advertised heirloom tomatoes is sub par. You are located in the same space that has one of the best markets in the entire city. Reasonably you could buy stuff from them. Dietary restrictions: The have ok gluten free options.

Great experience overall. The food was great, the lobster ravioli was really tasty and the scallop pasta was amazing as well. The other dishes we ordered (gumbo, pork chop, lamb croquette, etc.) were good too, and had some unique combinations of flavors/ingredients. There was a small piece of shell in one of our pastas, but our server resolved the situation very well. She also went above and beyond, and provided excellent service; I believe her name is Holly. Atmosphere is modern, although a bit dark. Great food, great service, would recommend.

We recently decided to have our post wedding reception at Black Sheep in their private room upstairs. I can truly say it was the best decision ever. Lola and Morgan went so out of their way to make sure our day was perfect. Black Sheep could not have been a better location because they provided everything we needed. They have amazing food, a private bar and the most incredible pastry chef. Our wedding cake was so beautiful and tasted even better. They accommodated all our food allergies with gluten free options. The servers and bartender were SO beyond kind throughout the evening and did everything with the biggest smile on their face. Our family and friends had the most amazing evening and we can not thank them enough for their hospitality. If anyone is thinking of having a private event here, we can not recommend it enough! Big thanks to the whole team, we are so grateful

The seafood sharing platter and lobster ravioli were absolutely delicious! The Caesars are amazing.

I was recently on a cruise and stopped in for lunch. I had the raw oysters and the seafood chowder. Both excellent. I also had a nice craft beer. But the service is what I want to comment on. I am from the US. I left my ship with $20 American and only my American Express. Unfortunately, they do not accept AMEX cards. I spoke with the manager, Lola, who graciously allowed me to leave and call to pay from ship with my Mastercard. THIS is customer service and grace! I hope to return some day!!

This was about a year ago. Wow! No! Had a business dinner for four so had a variety of dishes. All were uniformly tasteless. Even the calamari and fried chicken, I think it takes special skill to create tasteless fried chicken. Wow and not cheap. Had to apologize to my clients. Well done there. Food, location, atmosphere, and SERVICE is amazing

It was very nice rustic atmosphere in the Keiths Brewery market. The menu is very well defined with a selection to satisfy educated palates. Presentation is very nice and during the dinner hour there were plenty of conversations happening. Food : 5/5

We were three families having brunch on a Sunday morning. We called ahead to see if they had seating, and they were able to accommodate us. The restaurant had a nice, welcoming atmosphere with an Irish feel. We were a bit confused by the menu at first because there wasnt a separate brunch section; the brunch and lunch items were all mixed together. I ordered the Gravlax eggs benedict with poached hard eggs and a salad, but it came with a half order of fries and salad instead. I m not usually one to complain, but I wish I had, as the salad was really good. My eggs were also runny, but I didnt mind because they were very tasty. The wives and kids left before the bill came, and there was an issue with the billing as well. Kid-friendliness: No kids menu for brunch, but they do have a regular breakfast (eggs, meat, and toast).

Been to this restaurant with friends from out of province and I can t believe I saw a family of mice running around this high end restaurant. When we approached the waiters and waitresses concerning this, they shrugged it off like it is something they are used to. When you are paying such high prices for over cooked food, you would think the management would be concerned about your health and safety. Maybe that is where there meat is coming from. lol. Would advise to stay away from this establishment ASAP and since this is tourist season, you would think they would do more to fix this situation.

So it pains me to write this review as the Black Sheep has always been a favourite of ours - but this mornings experience was just not it. The food was good but the service we received left us leaving the restaurant shaking our heads. 1) We were a group of 5 including a baby. We brought the babys food. When I asked the waitress if she could heat up the food in the microwave she said no as there was no microwave in the kitchen and so I asked if they could provide some warm water or something so that we could at least warm it that way. She wasnt sure so went to ask - instead of her coming back to the table, a man who seemed to be the shift supervisor/manager came over. He let us know that they were unable to touch/warm the babys food due to provincial food laws, blah blah. Thats fine. We understood that (but you couldnt provide a bowl with warm water in it? I didnt want to push). But no smile, no helpfulness to try to help us out, no is there something on the menu she would like? ....etc etc. I ended up chasing after them to order a fish cake for my daughter, which she ended up liking! 2) My mother in law ordered the fish and chips. It came out looking very much on the dark brown side - most likely in the fryer for just a bit too long. It just was not very appetizing looking and honestly I am surprised the server brought it out. When we pointed this out to her, she agreed and she brought it back to the kitchen but they said it was fine so she brought it back over to us. Talk about awkward lol. Then the shift manager found his way over to us again and said he would get us a new one and comped the first one - which was good of him and honestly not necessary - but he seemed very angry doing so? A smile and some chit chat would have gone a long way. Maybe everyone was just having an off morning - nevertheless, it was a strange experience. I will say I had the Bimbambop with the beef and really liked it!

Great food, good service, and cool atmosphere. They were able to handle a large party very well with no hiccups. I let the server choose my main and dessert and they were both delicious. Next time Im in Halifax I will come here for sure.

An exceptional restaurant! The atmosphere is very warm, the dishes simply excellent! The lobster ravioli was really good, and there was no shortage of lobster. Oysters, fresh as they should be and tasty. I tried the hazelnut dessert: just irresistible! One of the best restaurants I have tried to date, well done!

Wonderful dining experience! If you are an aspiring Chef, you need to try this restaurant. It is a Master Class of how to operate a restaurant. Best lobster ravioli Ive ever had. I wish I was still eating it. I hear the lobster roll is good too. Be sure to get some of their house made bread. Its inside the old Alexander Keiths brewery, which is a neat place in itself.

Came here for fish and chips. The service at first was very good, but once I got my food, nobody offered a refill of coffee and I had to ask, even though a server refilled the table next to me and never checked, and I sat with an empty plate infront of me for over 10 minutes before anyone came. The service was friendly, though. The coffee was quite weak, it tasted watered down. The fish and chips were great though, the fish was tender and the batter was crispy and lacy without being too much. The sauces were interesting, the black garlic aioli didnt have much black garlic flavor though. There was a chippies sauce that was quite sour and tasted of tamarind I think, that wasnt my favorite. The tartar sauce was great, though. The fries were also perfectly cooked and exactly what I was looking for. All around pretty good, Id come back again, I think the service was just having an off day.

The fish cakes and the Brie Burger were the best things we ate. Delicious! A very nice patio too.

The service is stellar. The hostess and all the servers were wonderful. The food, however, is overpriced and not very good. We ordered a summer salad, and the steak-frites, which were both well-presented. The steak was cold and lacked flavour. The fries were good. The salad had potential but was over-drenched in a creamy dressing with little flavour, so it was difficult to enjoy. The atmosphere and location are nice, but I wouldnt return for the food unfortunately.

Came here for brunch and the food and staff were amazing. We accidentally spilled some drinks and the staff came running to assist, the mess was cleaned up in no time and they were extremely gracious about it all. The food was excellent, everything was cooked to perfection and I actually had the best poutine of my life here.

Lovely upstairs deck with a view of the water. This is a must go spot!

What a way to end our trip to NS. The food was amazing! The waiter was knowledgeable about the local wines and provided impeccable service. Highly recommended.

Place was beautiful inside with very comfortable mood lighting. Shared 1/2 dozen oysters the Seafood board and a rum cake. The oysters are amazing and may get us addicted. The Seafood board was such a nice unique variety of prepared seafoods that you dont get to experience much around here and everything was a great bite~ The rum cake was a bit dense, but ment that way to absorb all the rum goodness.

The food here was a hit or a miss. We tried the grilled cheese sandwich and the steak Benedict. The grillee cheese sandwiches was terrific along with the tomato soup. The steak benedict on the other hand was ok at best. The flavor seems unbalanced and mustard heavy which overpowered everything else.

Great Atmosphere and solid beverage program but the food was not to standard. I had the Beef Kitfo and our party had the shrimp and neither hit the mark for cost or quality of execution. In the modern era of Halifax theres just too many other better options.

Right from the start when we got inside, our server, guy with thick frame glasses, bold head, tattoos on his head ruin my vibe. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. Every single time he would come to our table he was pissy and arrogant, never took time to answer our questions about the food, I ask him could he recommend us something, he ignored it or rolled his eyes when we would ask something. He didnt even bother to ask how we would like to settle our bill, he choose to bring one bill of $1000 to one person. Never had service like that in my life, not sure is he working for free or what his issue was but overall bad bad experience with server. Food, I had cevapi which is Balkan specialty, they are never made of 100% pork meat they make it with 100%pork which is wrong, it can be either 70-30% beef/pork or 100% beef, ajvar which is supposed to be roasted pepper and eggplant minced, they had either pizza sauce or something like that, super not authentic, you can actually buy real ajvar in Blue Nose convenience store instead of selling whatever that was...Wont go there anymore

We ordered the bread service and was very much disapointed that we paid 9$ for some toast. My main was also a little lack luster as well.

What a great find in Halifax! This restaurant wasnt on our radar before heading to the city but it will be a repeat on future trips. The menu is ecclectic and expansive. There seems to be something for everyone. Our party of 4 had the pulled pork poutine, mussels, fish chowder and yogurt parfait. If you are enjoying brunch, get a side of the sourdough - it is amazing!Everyone raved about the food and found 2 or 3 other items on the menu to try. Service was very good albeit a tad slow. We were fine with the pace as we werent in any rush.

Lovely decor, great service, and two very delicious alcohol-free cocktails! I can see why the lobster ravioli was recommended to me - it s splendid! Also highly recommend the lemon poppyseed dessert if you want something light and fresh!

Had brunch with the family and absolutely enjoyed the seafood chowder and fish cake. Definitely planning to return! Their homemade spice sauce is exceptional!

I recently enjoyed a solo dinner at the Black Sheep Restaurant. The mushroom banh mi was fantastic. As someone who doesnt LOVE mushrooms, this sandwich was so delicious and flavourful! The service was quick, friendly and efficient. And the ambiance was really cool! Would recommend.

This restaurant was an absolute delight. The menu was as eclectic as Ive ever seen: fusion Indian, Ethiopian, Mexican, etc. The Norwegian Carrot Soup and Fish Cakes were off the charts delicious. And it was a privilege to have Megan as our server. She was on point in explaining the menu and flavors. And she gave us great ideas for day trips from Halifax. A very memorable dining experience.

Very impressed .... quality and quantity.

The service is fine but the food is awful. Cleaning the frier oil would help the fries, but not much else is salvageable. The sausages were like any others you get anywhere, nothing to write home about. The bacon is over cooked. The bread tastes like stale beer, the black mayo is absolutely disgusting, and the coffee is worst Ive ever had and theres not enough sugar to go around. My sugar packets were soaked with coffee on arrival. The only thing remotely okay on the menu is the yogurt, but 14$ for yogurt is insane.

It was alright. A bit too expensive. Would not recommend the lobster roll only because the portion was small and it was very expensive.

Modestly lit (but not dingy) restaurant and bar with a lot of seating available, probably great for large groups. I sat at the bar and had a beer and the fish and chips. Fish was light and fluffy, and the selection of sauces and slaw made for an enjoyable eating experience. Chips were only ok, but didnt bring the rest of the dish down and I would still recommend. Bartender was friendly and made some smalltalk when I arrived ,but left me alone to eat my meal and work on a crossword. I cant comment on the atmosphere as I came for a very early dinner around 3pm and the place was practically dead. NOTE: this place is a little hard to find, even with Google Maps directions. Its actually inside a small upmarket mall, so follow the signs outside for the Alexander Keiths brewery & tour, and youll find the entrance to Black Sheep just next to the statue of Mr Keith himself.

Food was phenomenal. I loved the taste so much I m from Manitoba thought I d try something different while here. Service is amazing had such a sweet kind waitress made the experience delightful. Recommend this place to anyone visiting Halifax you won t be disappointed.

Very friendly/knowledgeable staff with great food! Celiac friendly! My mother is celiac, not me (thank goodness) and so is our waitress. We felt very confident that she was gunna be safe eating here! I had the chicken and waffle and it was great! the batter was perfectly seasoned not over powering and the toppings very complimentary. Mom had the poached eggs with salmon, which was great! Even the GF bread was a homerun! 10/10

I ve been to this restaurant twice. The food was great both times. If you are a lover of seafood, this is definitely a place to visit. Keep in mind that they have 2 menus. The dinner menu starts at 4:00 pm and that s the one I prefer. Many options are available on both though. Parking: I am from Toronto so my expectations may be easier to meet in terms of parking availability, but parking isn t hard to find. You can street park right there or there is also a fairly large parking lot just across the street that is very reasonably priced.

Dinner last week was disappointing. The food was average at best. For starters, the calamari had a light and crisp breading but still manged to be chewy and dry. The dipping sauce tasted like a mixture of chili powder and mayo. Brussel sprouts were nicely cooked but the flavor was muddled by the 5 or 6 competing flavors on the plate. Similarly, the beef tartar was over complicated and over seasoned, served with three soggy, greasy pancakes. For mains, steak frite was a tough piece of sirloin served with over salted fries covered in A LOT of chopped rosemary. The chicken and waffles again was over seasoned and served on a soggy waffle which was covered in slaw and some other mayo based sauce. The lamb shank was tender and tasty. Server was competent but lacked any hint of personality. Meal for three including tax, 15% tip and three drinks was $240.

Was here for a burger week busy tour, the burger was amazing.

This place is quite lovely. They have lots of options to accommodate different dietary needs, the atmosphere is good and we were able to bring a 3 month old baby without any issues. It can be a little loud in the middle area but Im also a little old

First time visit. We had the Dinner breakfast offering. The cost was approximately $19.50. I have to say WOW. The plate consisted of two pieces of thick bacon, two eggs, two sausage of very good quality..not greasy or mealy. Home Fries, salad along with an aoli to dip. A large piece of toasted foccasi. I just loved the presentation and the flavor. Service was very good... attentive server and very relaxing atmosphere. Coffee was above par. Ceaser for an opener ( very tasty) I also had a speciality coffee for desert. An offering that I hadnt seen in other establishment. And no I dont know the owners or staff! Highly recommend to try one of the breakfasts/ brunch and then determine yourself if this is one of your go to places. Yummy..getting hungry again. Cheers.

Very high price point for nothing special food. Average quality. $100 for two without drinks and no appetizers. If you were to order wine $20 for a small 5 oz. pour. Big disappointment overall.

Great atmosphere in the restaurant. Busy, but was a Saturday night so was to be expected. My guess is they were a bit short staffed, so food was a bit slow coming out. My haddock was originally overcooked, but they quickly rectified this and made a fresh dish which was delicious. Husband s steak was cooked perfectly. Worth a visit.

Went for the taste of Halifax menu and was thoroughly impressed the chicken and waffles came across a wee bit dry but the presentation was beautiful and all other dishes were great. The server was lovely and knowledgeable and the vibe alone is worth the visit. Would highly recommend for a trendy date night

I got into Halifax from Charlottetown late on a Sunday evening, so there werent very many places open. I ended up going to the Black Sheep and it was well worth it. I had the Bouillabasse and 2 beers. It was so tasty. I cant get that kind of fresh seafood dish in Edmonton. Highly recommend.

There was a nice outdoor patio deck that was beautifully decorated. I ordered mussels with green curry. I thought it was pretty good except the curry was a bit salty and the portion was small.

Mussels and fries were good, salad was gross and the garlic aioli tasted like water.

Sat on the roof top patio. Excellent feel, seats are good, benches very good. Lobster bisque is near if not the best in the maritimes. Same with the chowder. Longest wait times Ive ever experienced. 15 mins for a latte and 60 mins for food. Only had breakfast, nothing special.

Atmosphere was pleasant. Rooftop dining, knowledgeable/friendly waitstaff, delicious appetizers and main courses made for the perfect dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant! Great selection of small and large plates. Drink selections paired with the food nicely!

One of the best (if not THE best) seafood chowders Ive ever had! Location is very nice as well, both inside, and on the rooftop patio.

The food is really very tasty. The location outside on the roof terrace is brilliant. The beer is great - you also get a small sample in advance. The staff was very friendly. That was worth five stars. But the portion size is borderline and the price was the most expensive in Canada so far. For example Lobster Ravioli (see picture) $36 for this small portion. One star deducted for that.

$80 for breakfast for 2. Drinks $16/each. Garlic Aoli with squid ink doesnt pair well with anything for breakfast. Larger tips expected with the pre-defined tip options on the machine. Id recommend anywhere else for breakfast. Good bread, though.

Beef tartare is always my go to! We had dine around menu this time, tried something different than usual. Fries are crispy and very flavourful. Won t mind more salt and some pepper for cod but still very tasty. My bf got oatmeal cake and he said it s the best dessert he got from a restaurant. Pumpkin ice cream on it is also super delicious! 10/10! Not gonna lie, black sheep is my favourite restaurant now. We were here for my friends Jack and Jill party. I love the summer menu. We got tuna tartare and pakora burger and they were delicious. Not a huge fan of bibimbap because I don t like sticky rice but the flavour is great.

We were looking for a great place to eat and settled on this little gem thanks to the stellar reviews. We got there and were very well received. We ordered the spaghetti and scallops dish as well as the lobster ravioli. The spaghetti and scallops pasta dish is behind the reason for our 5-star rating. It was an extremely well balanced mix of flavours. The lobster ravioli was great too but came as a close second. We definitely recommend!!

Okay - this place has the best fries Ive ever had. My partner and I stopped in for just a drink and snack, I got the caeser which was so good. They put steak seasoning on the rim which I thought was genius. Also the pickled veg that comes with the drink is so delicious, I wish I had a whole bowl of them. The fries with the black aioli were SO GOOD. I wish we had more time to go back here and get more food, the vibe and decor were super cool.

We ordered the Bibimbap, Halibut and Burger as well as a Buzz-Off drink. The taste of everything was outstanding. Fish is expensive. Upstairs patio is nice, downstairs is a bit dark. Service was meh.

I brought my father to the Black Sheep this past weekend, and we were so very pleased with our dinner! We shared the dry aged beef karage, tuna tartare and lobster ravioli. The beef karaage was incredible. So many flavours perfectly singing together! The tuna tartare was certainly very good, but not revelatory. The lobster ravioli is rich, decadent and so very yummy. A great main to share, in our opinion. While it took some time for our appetizers to come out, service was attentive, informative and friendly. Can t wait to come back!

My recent visit to Black Sheep was a mix of delightful surprises and mild disappointments. The Dahl and pakora burger, while innovative in their concept, didn t quite resonate with my Indian palate. As a native of India, I appreciate the attempt to modernize traditional flavors, but the execution fell slightly short. On a brighter note, the tiramisù cake and cream brûlée desserts were nothing short of decadent. The perfect blend of textures and flavors showcased the skill of the culinary team. The cocktails were also a highlight, complementing the meal nicely. Overall, Black Sheep offers a unique dining experience with some hits and misses. It s worth a visit for those looking to explore inventive twists on familiar dishes.

Stopped in for lunch and were very happy we did. Best meal we had in the 10 days we were in Nova Scotia. My partner and I shared the tuna tartare as a starter and it was outstanding. Smoked fish cakes for me and my partner had the salmon salad. Both delicious . Good food, great service, innovative decor, and great music as an added bonus. Highly recommend.

Staff were great, really friendly and welcoming. Good selection of drinks on offer. It was a nice a day so we sat out on the roof terrace, which was a really pleasant area, fairly quiet and well out of any wind etc. The food was superb, highly recommend the Bouillabaisse, really fresh seafood, really well cooked and very tasty. My friend had the pasta and scallops, which looked really good too. Definitely going to try and go back, time allowing.

They have an amazing deck. Really enjoyed their breakfast options and my honey enjoyed his chicken sandwich. While my friend had a gluten free eggs Benedict that she enjoyed.

Sat on the patio and had a Mouse run around us the whole time we were there. It was very hard to enjoy the dinner! Very disappointed in the portions of food . Paid $65 for lobster and steak. It was on the page for Large plates so we thought sharing was a good idea. It was hardly enough of one person.

We took advantage of a perfect patio day to have lunch at The Black Sheep. Lunch did not disappoint! The meals were inventive combinations that were bursting with flavour. We will definitely be returning to The Black Sheep on our next visit to Halifax.

Disappointed.. Steak and lobster lmao.. 2 bits of steak and a half a tail?? 80$?? 260$ bill and left the place hungrier than when I arrived.. Don t go to this place unless you want to waste your $$.. also.. put some real plants in the joint.. still shaking my head

What a wonderful little nook on a hot summers evening. Food is excellent, pasta and scallops were amazing, and the service is very prompt, courteous. Special place to spend some time relieving the days activities and a few laughs. Please visit and share your experience

Only had breakfast option which was the Diner Breakfast and it s a little hard not to enjoy breakfast. The bread was great and the lavender wild blueberry jam was nice although not sure if that was in house. Salad was good and fresh and had a little spicy kick to it that was nice contrast. Latte was okay. Brisket Eggs Benny was also ordered but not photographed. They have a really interesting option for breakfast such as Korean and Indian options so if you are with a group with varied interests this place would work.

Food options are very limited for Chicken lovers and also for kids. But service and staffs were good.

Great restaurant within the Alexander Keith Brewery. Good food, good cold draft drinks. Atmosphere is dark and chill. The hanging plants in the air is cool and unique, lol. Some of their cosmopolitans and margaritas are expensive and their unique taste combinations are underwhelming and could be refined and redone. If I am paying $15 to $23 for one of these, I expect decent to good taste. Terribly I have had better drink combinations at dive bars!

I want to thank Lola and the staff at the Black Sheep for their hospitality on Saturday September 16. They went above and beyond to accomodate a wedding group (~40 people) without notice, during a hurricane. During a day where so many things had to pivot and change, we were thankful that you provided a spot for us to get together and raise a glass to the bride and groom!

My husband and I love to cruise to New England & Canada. We stopped in this place last year and fell in love. We did the same cruise again this year and it did not disappoint. We loved the bibimbap poutine. So much so that the main dinner I ordered (fish cakes - not bad) felt just okay compared to the incredible poutine. The service is always great. Super friendly. The ambiance is perfect. Must go!

Breakfast was the best I ve had in the city.

My wife walked down Water St. From the Westin. It was my pick tonight & I wanted a nice restaurant & my wife wanted simple. The Black Sheep was a great pick. Seated quickly. The waiter took all my wifes pickiness from Water to dressings on her beef burger with all grace & skill. I chose an awesome porkchop 1 in thick with delicious veggies & sauces. Great atmosphere & staff. Impressed & a hit (can eat here again) Jim S

Amazing atmosphere and very good service but can t say the same for food. We ordered calamari which was so dry really hard to chew. Fried chicken sandwich was ok but definetely not worth 22$ , basic sandwich with small fries really overpriced. Will give it another try in the future for another chance

Found a mouse in the booth next to us, when we told the waitress we think theres a rat she simply said oh its probably a mouse and walked away. Second waitress tells us they come from the brewery and do not get in the food. We left immediately.

Tourist review: This was a great experience, we thoroughly enjoyed the environment and the food. The best dish by far was the lobster ravioli, perhaps the best Ive had. I highly recommend this plate to anyone. I also enjoyed my latte which was so surprising considering this isnt a coffee forward establishment. Altogether the ambiance was relaxing and felt so serene, the delicious meal was the cherry on top.

We called in on a Sunday afternoon for some food. Beautiful restaurant, nice ambiance and romantic lighting, but we left without ordering. Why? 1) we werent looking for an upscale meal so we were surprised when most entrees were into the $30s.The fish entree was almost $40. The only 2 items that were under $30 were the 2 burger options, at $22 and $24. Quite a few of the appetizers such as the brussels sprouts were over $17. All in all, quite expensive. 2) There were NO salads on the menu, and we were looking for something lighter like a salad. Really, no salads?! On this occasion we didnt want to spend around $100 for 2 people (including tax and tip and maybe a drink) so we got up and left. However if you are looking for fine dining in a gorgeous building, this may be for you. The reason for this review is so that you dont make the same mistake that we did.

The food was delicious! I had the halibut which was cooked beautifully and my partner had the lobster ravioli which was was fresh and quite rich. Great decor and ambiance, server was very attentive but not intrusive. Would love to come back and try some more menu items.

Made a quick decision to eat here, I don t recommend coming here for just dinner. Go for the beer as I feel that s the specialty here. I Had the steak frites, it wasn t the best meal I ve had, most of it was cold. The food menu is rather small. PS: you may have to fight off a couple of mice during your stay here. Not the restaurants fault as they are in downtown Halifax in an old building. Our whole meal we had mice scurrying around our feet.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, we brought our little one on a date night with us the space was and atmosphere was cozy and speak easy-ish, the dim lighting made the dining experience intimate but still upheld a night life feel. The portion and food quality was certainly worth its price-point with the steak and fries, lots of flavour. We were also given free fudge at the end of the evening. My only after thought was that the fries could use a little less salt. Overall a great dish and experience. Everything is just great!

Went for brunch. Food was tasty but undercooked. Server was nice but not attentive. Never asked how meal was or if we wanted refills of beverages. Never came back to check on us at anytime. Parking: Hard to find near by without paying.

Great place for a cozy getaway. Had the Lobster Ravioli and it was excellent. Will definitely be back.
