2606 Agricola St, Halifax, NS B3K 4C8, Canada
Full service kitchen with in Chain Yard Cider’s taproom doing dine in, delivery, takeout and online reservations. Located in the north end of Halifax offering many gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.
Absolutely love this place. Server was amazing, cidar flight was beyond, music is soothing as well as level of music, atmosphere was super nice, food was just fantastic. Will be back again. Got a flight, chicken sandwich and BBQ tacos for a whopping $53. Pretty good.
Amazing fried chicken!!!! I also love the cider flights. I've been going here for years and I've never had a bad experience.
We thought we were hooped for good dinner options when we arrived late after some flight delays. Traveling with a toddler meant we couldn't dine in at any of the neighbourhood pubs or bars at that hour, but Unchained let us call in a takeout order just a half hour before they closed. Two adults and a hungry toddler split an awesome French onion burger and fried chicken sandwich, both with lovely crisp fries and a garlicky dip. Both sandwiches were juicy, well composed and had perfect structural integrity. The buns held up really well despite everything that was going on in there. Great meat to topping ratios on both. The food traveled really well and both tasted and looked incredible. Highly recommend!
This was honestly quite disappointing. First impression, they couldn't even provide me with any napkins or utensils. Secondly, who puts poutine and fried chicken in the same box? Lastly, the chicken had barely any flavouring, the only thing that saved it was the dill pickle dip. The hot sauce they claimed it came with was really just some weird salsa with a bit of a tang. Maybe I'll try it again dined in but for the price I paid ($44.00 uber eats), It was definitely not worth it.
Atmosphere was great vibes, very hippy and different. The staff were amazing, made great conversation(shoutout Daniel). The food was the best we had in our whole trip to NS. House ciders we’re amazing. Definitely a must go.
We had the Southern Fried Chicken and Big Cheesy Chuck Burger meals as takeout to share. Super tasty! The wait time was as told and the service was awesome! Will be back again!
Delicious food, excellent selection of local ciders, all in all a great spot! It's a fairly small place so be prepared to sit at the bar if it's busy
Another excellent experience at Unchained. The winter ciders are very enjoyable. With the Frost Bite being my recommendation. It's a semi sweet, blend of jonagold, Spy & Mac, matured with cinnamon, ginger & nutmeg. The 'big cheesy brisket burger w ciro taleggio, apple bacon chow & frites,is the best burger in Halifax. So juicy a packed full of flavour. The fries are cooked to perfection and the house mayo dipp is a excellent way to enjoy them. Always make sure to come in for a drink and a bite to eat whenever I visit Halifax.
Great time!
I would have liked to rate further, but hungry and thirsty as I was, I was completely ignored for over 10 minutes waiting at the head of the line to be seated.
My favourite place to go eat.
Amazing all around
Food was amazing! Almost everything on the menu had a gluten free option! They even have different fryers for gluten free meals. The staff was kind and helpful. I am so glad we found this place!
Love this place! Food is great and there are plenty of ciders and beers on tap to choose from!
food kinda bland ..staff great
Great cider, fried chicken was amazing (and is available gluten free)!
Go here for a vast assortment of ciders, The vibe is good and the staff are great, what not to like?
Great atmosphere and they can accommodate large groups and many dietary restrictions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Dietary restrictions: Can accommodate for gluten free and vegan dietary restrictions.
Their Burger Bash burger, Holy Fork!, was sooooo good. Love the atmosphere as well
Great local place! Outstanding ciders, I really enjoyed the flight of 4 delicious choices. Had the burger, which was amazing - the apple bacon chow made it a perfect meal with ciders. The staff were super cool! Highly recommended!
Very good food!
Got the burger and fries for takeout. Unlike when I got it before, 90% of the fries were extremely tough and dry (but weirdly some were normal). When I mention dry, I mean that they basically turned into chalk/dust when eating it. I dont know if this means that they were refried. The cynical part of me could think that they were discarded by a previous customer, but obviously theres no way to tell for sure. I also saw a thin string of something in the fries that was deep fried, when taking off the batter I discovered that it was a long hair. I didnt finish it, obviously. Ive been here a couple of times, but probably wont go back now.
Cider is great and so is the fried chicken!
Alitalia to expensive for my liking and has a strang smell
Currently closed, you can only do takeout through a sister location on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 1600-2000hrs. Very inconvenient. Chicken is good though!
Food is solid but the service was not great for me. I felt like I was being ushered out from the moment I sat down at my table 2 hours before close.
Very good overall
The food! Omg 10/10
The best fried chicken to be honest Ive ever had! Love theIr setting of being a quality restaurant within a cider brewery.
Got takeout. My burger was too greasy and my fries were cold and inedible (I threw them out). Flavor was alright I guess, but nothing that blew me away or that I couldnt find elsewhere. I was told this was the best kitchen in the city but I really dont think so. I havent tried the cider.
Pricey but very solid
Ciders great, fun atmosphere, and although the food recipes are good they are really greasy. Ive had several dishes- fried artichokes, fried chicken, buffalo cauliflower tacos- and thought the same for each. its too bad because theyre tasty but I can never finish it because it will upset my stomach to eat so much oil at one sitting. Ill likely go again, but I will opt for a salad or something next time!
Ate here 3 times in past 2 weeks as the cider is good, so we bring out of town visitors for a quick bite. The food is always oversalted and a bit greasy. That could easily be fixed...just use hotter oil and a lighter hand. They do have some interestiing stuff, like blue cheese and okra beignets. The spicy coconut rice krispie bars are a real winner. And dont kill the friend chicken with bottled hot sauce. This is basic stuff guys.
This place is always good. Been here countless times now and can t recommend it enough!
I think I had the best burger of my life here, the staff is amazing and the drinks taste amazing definitely going again
Lovely service, amazing food and a great cider selection. What a treat.
One of the tiniest kitchens Ive seen, but the food coming out of it was delishous. Service was solid on a busy Friday night, and there is a great selection of both house made and other craft ciders.
The cider is amazing. I am picky but this stuff is a new fav. Try the Foundation and fall in love.
Great variety of cider with lotsof unique flavours. Its a simple but eclectic menu. We had the coconut curry spice krispies and a few oysters to start. The krispies were sweet and chewy with just a hint if spice. We really enjoyed then. The oysters were very fresh and they were served with house made cider vinegar, apple based hot sauce and a spritzer of bourbon. The hot sauce was fine, but the cider vinegar was the best march for the oysters. Around the table we had the mac and cheese- delicious and filling with still crunchy roasted brussel sprouts mixed in, a seafood pasta (diner special) with shrimp, fish and twisty pasta wirh a creamy cheese sauce with shaved parm on top. Very good. The jambalaya was made wirh shrimp, calimari and fried chicken. Great flavour with just the right amount if heat, but a bit heavy. The brisket burger was made from ground brisket- very unique flavour and very good. It came great fresh cut fries and a delicious garlic aioli for the burger or to dip the fries. The buffalo cauliflour tacos were made great by the bright tasting cilantro flavoured tahini sauce. Excellent service and fun decor. Highly recommended!
Great! Try the Mead if there
Amazing dry cider and the food is great too!
The food is great, the service tends to be on the slow side, especially as they get busier. Worth the prices though.
They make great cider, this is undeniable. But .. Not a single vegetarian option last time I dropped in. And then theres the stark juxtaposition to the neighborhood, a bunch of rich looking people occupying the sidewalk seating.
Great cider options. Good ambiance and crowd. Good for large groups and bar sitters. Good enough menu options.
one of the best curry dishes Ive had and excellent portions.
I get that it s burger week and it s busy, but we came in, sat at the bar for 15 mins and not one person came to ask us for our order. At least 6 waitstaff on, and it appeared only one was actually working the tables, the rest were standing inside the bar area- we got a flight from the bartender, but considering we came for burger week, and left 30 mins later with no food and no offer of food, this was a disappointment. Also, they were sold out of the alligator, which is why we went in the first place.
Core food lineup is amazing and their one off specials (chicken and flapjacks and chicken wing poutine) are always winners. Great portion sizes too, come hungry.
The food here is always good and is well thought out for its atmosphere.
Awesome food ! Not too many times I get this awesome suprises, the food was absolutely delicious and the dessert wow !
Their cider was nice, the artichokes were ok but nothing special, and the brownie with ice cream was really not delicious. In general, I expected better experience in terms of food. But I would still give a second chance, since the atmosphere was really pleasant.
This restaurant stands out to me with their variety of food that is all very delicious. The fried artichokes are out of this world (make sure to squeeze all the lemon you can on them). Lots of options for people with dietary restrictions as well.
Lots of cider, interesting menu. The golden beet ravioli is fantastic.
Very fun place with good cider and good local beer on tap. The food is kind of overly salty for me and I like salt normally. Very kid friendly
A very busy place and rightly so. The chefs food is excellent and the waitresses know their stuff. Really good cider too. Dont be afraid to try the hoppy cider if you like hops.
Absolutely phenomenal food! I have yet to order here something that isnt delicious
Good cider. Lots of good food to absorb said cider. Will be back!
Friendly staff, good portions, a fan of the jambalaya, but artichokes underwhelming (taste and presentation).
Great food I love their burger. Within my top 5.
Best food in the city regardless of the price point.
Food was absolutely delicious at a reasonable price.if you like cider and good food, you wont be disappointed!
