Anniversary dinner for my husband and I and service was amazing. Waiter came out with a glass of champagne for us to start and we really enjoyed our meal. Steak was delicious! Many waiters, which I found unusual but everyone was great.
This is my favorite steakhouse in the city. The steak is great, of course, but the beets – and really all the sides and appetizers we've had – are fantastic. The service is always delightful too. I find that a lot of steakhouses just give you a few green vegetables on the side, so I really appreciate Cut having such a good selection of excellent sides. The tableside Caesar salad is delicious and a fun experience, too.
A more appropriate name would be cut the staff, cut the cooking time...the staff were like zombies aloof and you actually had to call them out for anything. The food although good but it took soooooooooooooooooooooo long that it felt like they actually butchered the animal at the spot, and as far as aged steaks go, I've had better, it wasn't worth that long a wait. I would come again but I'm scared that I should at least have 2-3 hours to kill! The experience could have been so much better. The fries and the mac n cheese were quite bad. Steak was the showstopper. Drinks were good too.
Our servers were Courtney and Kieth. Both were absolutely lovely and made the whole experience so enjoyable. Our reservation specified that we wanted chairs without arms as we both have wide hips and often find them uncomfortable, when we arrived the table had armless chairs despite no other tables in the restaurant having those seats- meaning they went out of their way to accommodate us. So kind! The cocktails were absolutely delicious and the scallop appetizer was cooked perfectly. The brown butter with the rolls and the ranch with the crudités were to die for! I was so glad Kieth took us through the different meat options explaining the differences in taste etc. as I ended up getting a different steak than I had originally intended based off of his breakdown. For sides we had the mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts. The mashed potatoes were the best I’ve ever had, and the Brussels sprouts were the hidden gem of the meal, they were incredible! We found the Mac and cheese to be a little dry, but everything else was perfect.
Overall the restaurant is pretty good. It’s what you would expect for an expensive steak house, except we had a party of 6 and 4 out of 5 people who ordered steaks had them cooked wrong. One of our members had to return their steak due to it was extremely under when they asked for well done. For a steakhouse to get that many steaks wrong it’s unheard of. Everything else was fine, service was phenomenal as the staff are wonderful. They should think about who is doing the cooking of the steaks.
The Cut will far exceed your expectation. The service was impeccable and the food will have you happy dancing in your seat. Can’t wait to go back!
Orignally, i planned to have Feb Dine around menu (which was about $120). However, when we saw there was a choice of Tomahawk steak in the full dine menu, we choose Tomahawk😈 Tomahawk steak was excellent as it was perfectly cooked (medium). Also we added 3 panned scallops with the steak. If you love scallops, i would suggest you to add it on the main dish as they are really big ( Size: 10pics for a pound). We order A5 wagyu as a starter. The texture was good and it was worth to give a try. Foie gras also not bad, however, i guess it was slightly over-cooked. Lobster bisque is okay but I dont think it worth for the price. Lastly we order 3 different red wine(by glasses) and a cooktail. Overall we both enjoy the drink🥰 Lastly the total bill was over 400bucks. However i still think it is worth to try! PS: if anyone try the dine around menu, let me know is that good or not XD
My partner and I came here after the Bill Burr comedy special. We both have never eaten at this establishment before but wanted to go somewhere extra special. We were running a bit late but the staff accommodated us with open arms and gave us excellent service. I got the rainbow trout and zucchini my partner got the steak and we shared asparagus and the mashed potatoes. This was probably the best thing I've eaten in years definitely one of the best meals I've ever had. Will absolutely be coming back to this restaurant and suggest all friends and family try their food as well. The atmosphere was relaxing and beautiful.
Excellent service by Jonathan and Matt, very welcoming and food was amazing !! Always a top tier dining experience :)
nice ambience, very tasty meat in high quality
The service was exceptional, the steak was grilled to perfection, I enjoyed every part of the meal. A great restaurant, that I would definitely recommend and that I will go to again.
The steak was excellent and the service was spot on. Highly rate.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, amazing people, incredible drinks, impeccable service. Thank you Jonathan The Chilean for making us feel like your Latino family.
I tried this restaurant last year and again this year both times I asked for my steak well done on my recent visit I stressed to the friendly staff that it was important that my steak have no pink unfortunately it came out pink and by the time you send it back its just not a good experience and they dont compensate you in any way overall sides where great and staff was ok but not a good place to go if you like your steak well done.
Visiting a steakhouse like Cut is an experience , its far more than a mere meal. Our experience at Cut Steakhouse in Halifax was nothing short of remarkable from the moment we stepped through the door. The ambiance was inviting and sophisticated, setting the perfect tone for an evening of fine dining. The candelabra on the table was the perfect pinch of posh! From the start, the service was impeccable. Our waiter was not only fantastic and friendly but also attentive to every detail, ensuring our evening was seamless and enjoyable. The only minor hiccup was his hesitation to recommend a good whiskey for my guest, but this was quickly overshadowed by the overall excellence of the service. The bartender deserves accolades for crafting the perfect negroni for me... well two, they were that good. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. The steaks were incredible, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavor. The baked potato was perfect, crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside, I like to call it my emotional support potato. The table-side Caesar salad was a delightful touch, expertly crafted with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Initially, we were a bit taken aback by the noticeable lack of female serving staff, which gave the impression of a typical boys club steakhouse. However, our concerns were alleviated when we learned that both the assistant manager and director of operations are women, along with two other serving staff. This knowledge enhanced our respect for the establishments commitment to staffing. Cut Steakhouse surpassed all our expectations, blending top-tier cuisine with exceptional service in an elegant setting. Its a place we wholeheartedly recommend for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in Halifax. But dont be afraid to dress up a bit, it adds to the occasion!
Staff was knowledgable and friendly Steak was amazing Having a caesar salad made infront of me was a highlight Great atmosphere Will be back
A very average experience at best. The menu has lots to offer however the steaks are at best average. The quality of the meat seems fine so its down to the cooking. Little discernible sear. You are better off buying the steaks and cooking them at home, which is what I will be doing in future. The béarnaise sauce is indicative of the overall poor preparation. Its made from some packaged base and tastes like it. Bland. The sides are not particularly generous sizes and the wine list is ridiculously, unnecessarily expensive. The bought in desserts are ok. Once is enough.
Everything was amazing - the entire experience. The service was excellent; Keith was wonderful. The atmosphere was rich and comfortable. The food was delicious and filling, but not overly so.
Amazing experience, from being given our table to the different cuts of beef. It was better than expected.
The best steak I have ever had (from former sus chef that worked in fine dinning) . I highly reccomend the bone in prime rib steak, mine was medium rare and it was absolutely heavenly. It is alacarte, all items are ordered individually. However the starch sides are big enough to share with 2 or 3 persons. The poutine is to die for, it is topped with beef jus (not gravy), foigras, and steak. And its a meal on its own, in fact I plan to return with friends to have drinks and poutine at the bar at some point, as it was an amazing price for the all the ingredients on it. Our meal was about 280 plus tip for 2 persons. This was very inexpensive considering we had an amazing steak each, 2 vegetable sides, foigras poutine, and 3 drinks and a desert. In a relaxed fine dining atmosphere. The music was very nice touch as well its not in the forefront, and its piano lounge style (the day we attended) but they had subtle covers ofpopular songs in this style. This put an unexpected smile on my face. Last, if you know very little about steak and the aging process the servers are very knowlgable and will talk you through the whole prosess from what the cattle was fed to the dry age length and the cut all impacts the flavour and textures. And help you decide what to choose bassed on what you are looking for.
The food was ok, the steak and lamb seemed a little overcooked, but I really liked the mashed potato. Our first server, Philip, who gave us the visual of different kinds of steak was really nice and explained things patiently. The other server who helped us pay was rude and unprofessional he insisted on giving us the bill when we re not really ready (we realized later that we re just a little over the time limit but he could ve explained this), probably it s a racist thing I dunno. We won t be back.
Good evening everyone, my sister and I had dinner this evening at the cuts steak house , up stairs . Our server was Micheal . My sister and I ordered the wagu steak as the shrimp cocktail as the appetizers . When we received our wagu, the steak was tough and full of cartlige. For those who have had wagu, know that wagu melts in your mouth like butter, this was not the case with cuts steak house . The worse piece of steak I have ever had . My sister and I are visible minoritys, and I am sure that the servers and chief thought that we would not know the difference being of colour . My sister did not finish her fake wagu steak . I was hungry and finished the cheap steak. At the end of our meal we received the bill tgat came to $ 912 , 00 !! For the cheapest piece meat that they try to pass as wagu . Please, if you are visiting from abroad or from other parts of Canada if you are of ethnic decent. Be very careful to where you spend your hard earned money . Do not spend your money at this fake establishment . They think that people if colour are ignorant and do not know the difference between wagu send a cheap pi of meat . My susand I received a bill of more than $912 , 00. Waste of time and money .be careful to where you spend your money in the down town halifax , Nova Scotia.
Food is overpriced and nothing to write home about. We could eat better, cheaper, and quicker at home. Cocktails were nice though. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We were seeing a play the evening we visited and she helped us get there on time. Apparently the average visit there is two hours while we had just over one hour.
I would rate it a 4.5, but since I can only go full stars then Ill round up to 5. The service was impeccable. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The butter with the bread is some of the most flavorful we have had. Try the bread and butter! We had the scallops and shrimp starters. The scallops were delicious and cooked perfectly. The shrimp were also cooked perfectly, but the chorizo with them stole the show from the shrimp. Next came the pei boneless ribeyes. We both asked for medium and both steaks were a tad more done than we are used to for meduim. However, the steaks themselves had an amazing char on the outside and a wonderful beefy flavor inside. So we didnt mind the very slight overcook. The mashed potatoes were velvety. The mac and cheese was good, but I doubt I would opt for them again. I would happily dine here again, but because of the price only on special occasions.
Excellent food and great service.
Best meat
My wife and I had diner at CUT Steakhouse for our 10th wedding anniversary. The service is incredible, staff attend to your every need and they are really friendly. The food was fantastic as we both had the serloin steak and they were one of the best steaks we ever had. The sides and the dessert were also delicious. The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. Obviously very expensive but worth the money. Parking: Paid parking lot across the street
Came here for NYE. Dinner was really disappointing. Service was great until we got our food. Once we got our mains, our server ignored our table completely until we were finished. Had the octopus as a starter and it was actually quite good. Mains not so much. My partner ordered a ribeye mid rare and I ordered the rack of lamb mid rare. My partners steak came out blue rare and basically raw, and my rack of lamb was nearing well done. Also a rack of lamb has 8 ribs. I was really confused when my half rack of lamb only came with two tiny little riblits. Starches and jus served with the lamb were very bland and flavorless. Would have asked to have a proteins replaced but our server didnt bother checking on us until we were clearly finished eating. Our side dishes, mac and cheese and brussel sprouts were decent and probably the best part of the meal. For being a upscale steak house, the side dishes really shouldnt be a the selling point. Also, ever server and member of the staff looked unhappy and miserable. Not a single smile in the place. It mad the vibe very uncomfortable.
Amazing quality and nice staff I recommend tenderloin
Great food and staff
Wish they would bring back the gouda crust. Not sure when it was cancelled, but surely disappointing. Besides that, amazing as always!
Great place for a business dinner. Excellent Steaks and service!
Get some gift cards at Costco. $50 for $40. Had the Diner around menu they offer. Excellent food and service. Even got a banana bread to take home which was yummy
Everything about Cut is perfect. By far my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Will definitely keep coming back.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed our first dinner here tonight. The service was super thoughtful, our servers were attentive and genuine and the food was delicious! I ordered the 6oz tenderloin and the yukon gold mash. Both of these dishes were probably the best Ive ever had. The portions were big enough that I could take some home, too!
We were a table of 8 and went on Feb 16. The food was awesome. Not 1 complaint. The service was absolutely horrible. Took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get our appetizer, then 50 more minutes for our main course, and another 40 minutes for desert. We decided as a group that each of us would tip $20 per couple, so $80, which we did. Not bad considering how bad the service was. On our way out, 2 of the couples overheard our waiter tell another waiter how fn cheap we were and how mad he was. That we should be embarrassed as a group. Complete douchebag. We just have him $80 cash and then we get this. Your restaurant should be embarrassed. Ungrateful twirp. I pay for service faithfully. I have never tipped less than 20% at Eastside Mario s, The Keg and Moxies. Because I m tipping for SERVICE and food. Your service was terrible that night. I ll be back but if that waiter serves us, we will request another.
Their service is great, and the steak is also great. Ive eaten at steakhouses around the world, and this place delivers a reliable, quality, flavourful stake cooked to your preference. The sides are also substantial and tasty. I usually get the ribeye whenever I can because I love a fatty steak, but Ive tried other cuts too. I wasnt blown away by the starters, the portions are less generous than expected and quite simple and replicable. Would love to see more love put into the starters, but always reliable and quality steak.
My wife and I have frequented Cut Steakhouse numerous times, and again they met our expectations. The ribeye was delicious and cooked to perfection. However our baked potato had a very hard skin and difficult to cut, otherwise the potato was fine. Our servers, Dillan and Becka, did an excellent job their service was great and exceeded our expectations. Being my birthday, they really made us feel valued and welcome. We definitely will be back.
We ordered steak mushroom risotto baked potato and vege. We like the mushroom and potato. When we finished the food, we told our server the steak is too oily. We didn t expect anything, just gave feedback about the food we tasted. But our server s answer was interesting! We couldn t get this response. Yes this is the first time we dine in at this restaurant, but this is not our first time to have steak. The response was insulting! And the server didn t do anything to make us feel better. Definitely the last time to be here.
We had a very bad experience at this restaurant. I definitely would not recommend it. The manager and the whole chain of management doesnt accept constructive feedback and their response was really reflective that this is an institution that does not care about its customers.
I was excepting so much better. Our waiter was more interested in another table than ours. We were a table of 5 celebrating Birthdays. Service was not great from our waiter. We had to insist we wanted Caesar Salad made table side , waiter wanted us to order 5 separate salads. Our steak was so dry and tasteless. For a medium well it was charred on both sides and very dry. I will definitely not return as we have been to other restaurants that have a better atmosphere and presentation of food. This was over a $600.00 evening
The foie gras is delicious, the rose and sand wines are good, the black forest cake is delicious, and the Albert is not as delicious as peis steak.
The best steaks Ive had in years. It was also great that someone else paid ;) Ordering several different streaks divided up for sharing was a good way to go.
Hands down the most decadent burger ever!! We order them as often as we can these days! Definitely delicious
best food that s ever touched my mouth in all of halifax. that $400 steak was well worth it
Love those Albert beef!
Had the opportunity to check this place out last night, never seen such a wide rib eye variety, as well as many other plates, the waiter was very sharp. Pricey spot but food is definitely worth the dollar
Service and food was amazing. Beautiful atmosphere, definitely a gem of Halifax.
We visit 5 start steakhouses up and down the east coast of N.America and this has been the best one, bar none. Food absolutely divine. Not huge menu, but everything is perfection. Bartenders drink recommendations were absolutely spot on. Wait staff checks in frequently, but not hovery. And all staff clearly work as a team, no sense of competition or any drama/personality conflicts that come across to customers. Atmosphere was romantic, but not eye straining. Location set back, but easy to find. 10/10 in absolutely everyday. Worth the 16hr drive from home just for dinner in the future.
I have a pet peeve. I hate it when people clean the table when people are still eating Jonathan was fabulous. Very attentive and waited til we were all done before cleaning up. Food
Delicious
Arrived with a group of 8 and it was easily the best steak Ive had in Halifax. Service was fantastic. There was a little issue at the end when separating the bill, but Im happy to say we still ended up making our boat reservation even though it was pretty close . Would highly recommend dining here, especially for groups of people.
Hands down best steak Ive ever had. The place is fancy and reservations are required. Nothing is overlooked here. Brown butter, heated plates, $250 steaks. Delicious. Service impeccable. I ordered a Alberta Angus 8oz with a baked potato. The steak practically melted in my mouth. Place is expensive so be prepared to pay. I do recommend this place and Ill definitely be back.
Great steak. One of the best I ve had actually. We ordered the rib steak bone in and have nothing but great things to say about it. Our server was ok, a little bit over-sharing in his personal life, and was a little bit snappy in questions that we had. Particularly about the wine. We tasted a bottle recommendation and sent it back as it wasn t what we were looking for, he wasn t too bothered, but made a sarcastic comment when trying the next bottle which we accepted. Just wasn t expecting nor should have received when dining at such a restaurant. Still, one of the best dining experiences I ve had in a while. Would have been better if they had some more steakhouse staples such as creamed spinach.
Absolutely hands down one of the best restaurants we have dined in. Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. Amazing dining experience. We are from Ottawa and have dined in many great restaurants. The Cut is right up there with the best. Thank you Philip, Dillion, Mike and Jim for making our dining experience so wonderful.
Tonight, my wife and I dined at Cut to celebrate our 25th anniversary. What a nice evening! The steaks were perfect and a testament to the chefs expertise, and their selection of ample sides and enhancements elevated the meal to a higher level. From the delicious Yukon gold mashed potatoes, green beans, and sautéed mushrooms, each side dish complemented the steaks flawlessly. What truly sets Cut apart was the courteous and comprehensive service. The staff worked seamlessly as a team, were highly knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive to every detail of our dining experience without intrusion. They all worked together to ensure our satisfaction. Thanks Cut, for a fine evening out! Highly recommended.
Incredible service and wine list Highly recommend Food
Always the best in steak and sides. Best steak in HRM- not even a question. Parking: You wont have a problem Food : 5/5 |
Like dining amongst family, exceptional service in a great atmosphere with top notch food!
Lets start with service. Our server Jonathan was excellent and on all night. Food came quickly and so did the drinks. Restaurant itself was nice and what was expected besides the elevator music they had playing all night. Food was just ok. Oysters and Fois Gras to start. Oysters were delicious as they tend to be everywhere in NS but Fois Gras seemed under done, a little to raw for our liking. Boneless Rib Eye was delicious but the tenderloin was what youd expect from any high end restaurant however it didnt come with any sauce or topping. We ordered fries, parsnip and cabbage as sides. The fries were soggy and parsnip were under cooked. The cabbage dish itself was very good. All were served as group dishes and were each charged separately leaving you with way to much food. The desert was what you would expect at any high end restaurant. Overall food was overrated for the cost. If you want a high end meal for at least $100 less head over to the Little Gull in New Glasgow. Hey and youll even be able to get parking in front of the restaurant. Only other complaint is the lack of NS Wine selections, huge wine menu but they are from around the world instead of our wonderful Annapolis Valley.
Service: 5/5 Food: 2/5 Price: $470, $556 after-tip, for 2 people. Good: - The service was excellent. Some of the best service in Halifax. - Foie Gras Poêlé - fantastic. - Chocolate Mirror Cake - quite nice. Not-so-good: - The steaks. We got the Canada Prime AAA Dry-Aged ribeye and strip. They were unusually grisly, and rather than being properly marbled, they were just excessively fatty - not intramuscular marbling like youd expect, but great gobs of unchewable fat everywhere. Beyond the poor quality of meat, we both found that the steaks lacked flavour entirely - no buttery taste, nor any hint of salt/pepper/garlic/rosemary that most steakhouses incorporate in the cooking process. - For the price, and all the show-and-tell re: the dry-aging process and the superior quality to expect from it, I was extremely disappointed. These were among the worst steaks Ive had in a restaurant. We are quite familiar with dry-aged steaks, we both cook with steaks quite frequently, and though they were the main course, they were the worst (and most expensive) part of our night. - The Mac and Cheese. This seemed to have no cheese in it at all. It was like Panko breadcrumbs on top of a heap of dry macaroni noodles. Not creamy or cheesy at all, just bland pasta. - Béarnaise - this had almost no tarragon in it. When it arrived, I was surprised that it was flatly yellow, with no noticeable chopped tarragon anywhere, and upon tasting, it just seemed like they had double-boiled egg yolk and butter and omitted the tarragon entirely. I make a lot of Béarnaise and I was really looking forward to trying this one. It was not good. Overall: I was disappointed with our experience at Cut. This meal cost over $550 for two people. The steaks were very poor quality, both in meat quality and flavour, the sides were incredibly expensive and hugely disappointing, and the steak sauce was a big letdown. I hate to mention this, but as we finished our dinner, I felt increasingly unwell, and experienced symptoms consistent with foodborne illness, including vomiting, immediately following our main course and the entire night thereafter. I obviously cannot confirm the exact cause, but I feel its important to share my experience for the awareness of the restaurant and potential future customers. I felt there was something amiss with the quality of our meal while I was eating it, and it would seem I was right given how ill I immediately became. Anyway, even if I hadnt become sick following our meal, my review would be the same - this was not worth the price we paid. I would expect much higher quality meat from a proper steakhouse. Ours were tough, lacked proper marbling, were quite grisly, and had no flavour. I hate leave bad reviews, but I felt compelled to be honest given how expensive this place is, and how disappointed we were in a dinner wed been looking forward to for a long time. Had our server not been excellent, this review would be even lower. We dine at Shuck a lot, another RCR restaurant, and have always had good experiences. I was surprised and disappointed that just upstairs, wed have an experience like we did.
Always exceptional service every time my boyfriend and myself have dinner here
As well as other reviewers I would like say the male waiter is rude and and bit racism. 0 out of 10 both services and food . Mid rare steak is too over for midrare and waiting like 4 min for black pepper. I personally will recommend smoke and avoid CUT.
One of my best restaurant experiences, love this place. Would give 10 stars if I could. Everything we had was amazing, staff were exceptional. A++++++ planning to return soon!
Very good steak and dessert
Excellent steak and amazing service! Professional and friendly and knowledgeable. The old fashioned are superb! Highly recommend for a special night out.
Amazing! The food the staff everything was perfect!!
A fine dinning for the best Steak in Halifax
Amazing service, great food.
Delicious!
Awesome steaks and even better service! My wife and I went here for a nice night out plus a friend had given us a gift certificate they had won in the QE2 Lottery. When trying to redeem it there was some technical issues with the machine. Our server took it on himself to go and sort it out. Our savior for the night. Great service! We each had a striploin. I think my wifes PEI one was better than my Alberta (in picture) but both were spectacular!
Food and service is excellent!!
Excellent!
Excellent food great friendly service
Great ambiance a true culinary experience. Great servers knowledgeable and helpful they provided a great element to the meal through their service.
absolutely incredible food.
Wow just wow! Service amazing, food amazing! It is pricy but so so worth it.
Always a special experience but isnt quite what it was.
Absolutely stunning meal. We tried the Alberta and the Atlantic 14oz dry aged ribeyes and they were both cooked to perfection. My partner and I both went in as people who didnt like beets, and we left as people who want beets for every meal now! The service was great from start to finish, and it was lovely to watch the servers work as a team to serve patrons. Looking forward to coming back and trying new dishes!
Service was top notch. Drinks and food were top notch. It wasnt just a meal, it was an experience!
The steak portions are MUCH smaller than the advertised number ounces. I paid for the 20 ounce steak and I received a 12 ounce steak. Do not visit on an empty stomach. Inaccurate and stingy portions. Disappointed. Will not visit again.
From atmosphere to food, from selection to service, perfect every time!
Easily 5 star steak house. The Caesar salad was prepared next to my table by a chap from St Lucia. Best salad!! Had a display of the steak on offer before they prepared it. Steak was beautiful and tasted nice. Steep prices because of what you get offered. Top class steak!! The place itself of up class and staff are professional. Would recommend.
way back in like 2018 i went there and at the time i had a rating system of the restrooms id give them a 7/10 the restroom had some gunk on the floor, and there were towels everywhere. i dont remmeber much about the waiters. I do remember however, we came at 6pm and ate at 10pm im not complaining to much because we didnt have a reservation, i do remember having a mocktail with crushed strawberries, i think it was one of the best strawberry drinks ive ever had.
Food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Service was awesome. Location couldn t be better. I am definitely returning to this spot.
Amazing meal, everything was delicious. Service was great except after paying for my steak and finishing my meal with more than half my steak left, I asked for my leftovers to go and the server told me it would be packed up and brought back to me when we left. We left and were distracted and didnt realize my food was never brought to me, after sitting waiting for the bill and paying and everything. So more than half of my steak was tossed because the server forgot about it/us. Food was great but very disappointed that most of it was thrown out.
The food was spectacular and I very much enjoyed my cocktail. The bartender on shift created several cocktail and mocktails for the table that were all hits. That being said for myself as well as several others in my party this was my first experience with fine dining and it did leave us with something to be desired. My server was friendly and had a great personality but was slow with second rounds on drinks, and when it came time for the bills everything was very chaotic and disorganized. I personally have an anxiety disorder and this caused me a great amount of stress leaving me to step out at the end rather than ending the evening on a good note. Again food was fantastic, but organization was lacking.
The service was very good. The steak was good. The bread service was just ok. The biggest disappointment was the Mac and Cheese and Truffle Potato. The flavors did not come through. Two people at $350 you expect that the flavors will be spot on.
The best steak house in Halifax. Great service from start to finish and a great menu.
Was fine.
What a FANTASTIC experience! I went out for dinner with my client and it could not have been more perfect. All staff were the BEST server, very attentive, had great recommendations based on what we were interested in and very friendly! The steak was better than any of the other fine dining establishments we ve visited in the city. We will be back!
Reasons to come here. 1. Have a memorable dinner with friends and family. 2. The perfect steak 3. Amazing Oysters
Magnificent! Some of the best scallops I ve ever had, wonderful steak perfectly prepared, with well made accompaniments. The dessert was great - the mocha crème brûlée was 10 out of 10. Service that could put some of the Michelin star restaurants we have visited to shame. Rebecca was the perfect server - attentive but not intrusive. I would have taken more photos but the food didn t last long enough.
The best steak ever. Cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The ceasar salad made tableside was also one of the best salads Ive had.
All I can say is Wow! Amazing food glad we picked this place on our get away to Halifax! Highly recommend.
An exceptional place for those who appreciate matured beef! I opted for the 10oz strip loin of grade 9 Australian Wagyu beef with marbling, an ecstasy for my taste buds
Tried a variation of aged Pacific vs Atlantic Sirloin, Tenderloin and Tomahawk. From beginning to end, fantastic ambience, service, drinks and food Recommended dishes
Nice place for a business dinner or lunch. Had fresh oysters for starters, an Atlantic AAA steak and 1.5 lbs Atlantic lobster dinner with starch baked potato and Chefs vegetables as an enhancement. Good selection of wine.
Amazing experience
Always a great experience.
Went for our anniversary and were very pleased! The service we received was amazing, Keith was very friendly and professional. The food was great! The scallops were a bit undercooked for our liking but they took them off the bill for us, which we werent expecting. They gave us some champagne for our anniversary too which was sooo good and very kind! We both had the Waygu steak and will definitely be back for more of that deliciousness. My favorite part of the meal though was definitely the mashed potatoes!! Weve already booked another reservation and cant wait to try something new next time! Highly recommend checking this place out! Parking: Parking is directly across the street, si ifs pretty convenient.
The food was fantastic...and the service was like a production. Best steakhouse...very highly recommended
Great atmosphere. Fantastic staff. Incredible food.
Really enjoyed the appetizers and mains. The service was phenomenal. Would definitely go back for a special occasion
I enjoy a good steak just as much as the next person, but if you are looking for a next level experience, then Cut is the place you need to try. Attention to detail in all aspects of service is second to none, very knowledgeable and patient staff and the food - oh the food was goooood... I had the Angus Striploin, and another in my party had the Tomahawk and another had the Ribeye and by the comments around the table, all done to perfection. The Scotch whisky selection was amazing with some rare offerings. Truly a wonderful experience indeed!
Great experience our waiter was excellent and the food amazing
Kid-friendliness: We went for 5:30pm and the staff included my twin grandsons in discussions on menu and cuts of meat and talked to them during meal process. The boys love trying new foods and really enjoyed the oysters and octopus as appetizers and said it was the best Caesar salad they ever ate. We also tried both the Alberta Angus and AAA from Albany. Both were cooked excellent and the table voted on favourite. Split votes.
Took 3 Friends whom had never been. Obviously everyone knows The Cut is one of the most expensive venues in NS therefore expectations as a Consumer are high. We have multiple comments from each meal. Upon the Server describing the meat cuts and aging there are currently 3 tables occupied in the Restaurant. The background music that was really dated was too loud for the time and made it very difficult to hear the Server. We asked if it could be reduced but to no avail and Frank Sinatra kept blaring as we tried to have a conversation over it. My Guest all ordered Steak where I ordered Duck Staff were knowledgeable and attentive so high Marks for Staff other than Music request. One steak was prepared incorrectly and had to be sent back 2nd guest had to return there meal as it was only warm at best. 3rd guest was ok with Steak preparation. My Duck was very good and my only issue was the baked potato as it was ordered plain but came with bacon bits inside which I scraped off as opposed to waiting for another potato to be delivered. Now you have 2 People eating and 2 people watching waiting for there food to return not something one would expect in this Restaurants price code. Vice versa now occurs when 1 Guest and I have completed our meal and Guest 1 & 2 continue to finish there meal. Deserts ordered were chocolate layer cake with a 3 rating and the carrot cake given a 5 star. Last comment should you require to use the bathroom do it prior to going as its 5 flights down to the bathrooms.
Delicious. Simple as that. You will not be disappointed.
Delicious steak. Their staff are knowledgeable and give you an in-depth information on various steaks and how they marinate them. Restaurant has a good environment and it s a perfect place to spend time with your special people. Will go there again! One of the bests in HRM.
Terrific service and excellent food. We ll be back to enjoy another meal soon. Thanks so much
Fantastic steak and service. It was my first time there. Had Alberta Boneless Ribeye and Yukon mash and they were both so delicious. They just melt in your mouth. The drinks were really good as well. The service was wonderful to top it all off. I am not too familiar with how a good steak should be but the servers were very knowledgeable. Would definitely try this place again!
quince-y jones Start to finish was awesome!
There seafood and steaks and desserts and insanely good i enjoyed it so much great experience would recommend great food
I ordered the family dinner for four (take out) last night. The steaks were perfect and the same quality as in house. The sides and deserts were not as elaborate as Ive had when dining in, but all were very good. Everyone loved the meal and insisted I write a 5 star review.
Fantastic steak and fabulous service! It was our first time here, and we were blown away. Great atmosphere, and our server Jonathan truly made our evening. An absolute must try in Halifax!
There food is 10 out of 10 everytime
Excellent steakhouse, although a bit pricey
Started great but went downhill from there. Felt we were ignored after mains were served and only 4 or 5 other tables occupied. Food was great.
Authentic steak restaurant
We have come here every year for our anniversary and they always make it special. Great atmosphere, our server Jonathan was fantastic and was even able to get me something we loved last year that wasnt on the menu!! Couldnt appreciate him and the chef more for that. The steak melts in your mouth. No question, we will be back.
Impeccable service from Jonny, and the food & drink was absolutely delicious :)
The quality of the food and service here is incredible. It is not a typical dining experience as the Cut goes above and beyond. Although it is pricier, you are paying for quality and the experience of it all rather than just a quick meal.
It should be a human right to be fed Wagu once a year
Usually love this spot, moving to a new province, made a reso via open table for 5 people. The male host was quite rude, said there was no reso and no more availability although open table still said their was plenty for shortly after the previously booked time. 3/5 went elsewhere, the other couple arrived and he sat them under my name for our reso after I was turned away? I frequented this restaurant and I do love it overall this guy was just a d*** perhaps it was my friend dressing a little too casual on a Sunday?! Their loss regardless, but this guy shouldn t be so quick to judge other humans or how much they re prepared to spend! Overall love the restaurant and food just a poor experience this time sadly.
We dined at CUT on July 30th, 2021. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted and brought to a lovely table near the window. We started with some cocktails, and enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and foie gras as an appetizer. The shrimp was fresh and flavourful. The foie gras - which I understand is normally served cold - was seared for us upon request, and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. For entrees, we shared a 16 oz steak (cannot recall the specific cut - I believe it was from N.S.), a caesar salad, mushrooms, cauliflower and a demi-glace sauce for the steak. Our steak was perfectly done. All of the accompaniments were delicious, but my partner was particularly blown away by the caesar salad, which was prepared table-side by a lovely member of their support staff. For dessert, we enjoyed the carrot cake, which was light, fluffy and beautifully presented. Upon leaving the restaurant, we were handed two mini blueberry breads as a parting gift - a really a nice touch. Although the food was to die for, the service is what truly made dining at CUT an experience to remember. Throughout the evening, we had two servers, one being Mike, and another fellow whose name I unfortunately cannot recall. Both men were warm, sincere and very knowledgeable about the menu and different cuts of meat. CUT has truly perfected the fine dining experience and we look forward to dining with them again upon our next trip to Halifax.
Great service and delicious food
Amazing experience. My boyfriend is a fan of getting bartenders choice for drinks everywhere we go, Matt did not disappoint. He was creative each and every time. He was full of personality and actually had a few conversations with us throughout the night. All of the staff were very friendly and all made the experience enjoyable. The atmosphere is absolutely breath taking and the food was amazing. Our only complaint was that the steaks did not come with a side for free, each side is extra. However, we will still return. They also gave us an individual blueberry loaf on the way out that was absolutely incredible!! My favourite spot in Halifax so far!!
Not as impressive as we hoped for. We had the tomahawk steak, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, chefs vegetables, lobster tail, a few sauces, and pasta. The pasta probably had the most flavor. Most other items were very bland and boring. It felt like the restaurant ran out of salt that night because the dishes were so ho-hum. Service was great with friendly and helpful servers. Comfortable tables and good covid procedures. While the to-go loaf offering was a nice touch, Id prefer the restaurant spent more effort getting the basics down before looking to add flair.
Excellent overall.
We absolutely loved our dinner at Cut steakhouse. The service and food were top notch Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides we chose were perfect accompaniments to our steaks. We could not have asked for a better experience.
I would have rated this 5 star higher. The food was good. No complaints other than I do believe the Keg to be better. Here, though is our issue. My wife and I got there and were told there was no tables. We could have the bar. So, we accepted. We ate our $250 dollar meal. Paid and left and we left To a restaurant with one table taken. The rest? Empty. My knees bother me so the high chairs at the bar I cannot stand and while I accepted the car . they knew I wanted a nice seat and didn t offer us that even when our food came. At that time we were the only people there other than another couple have Having a drink at the bar. A Restaurant like this needs to be better. I think they have to be better. Or they just don t deserve to have five stars. I probably will not go back and while not a huge deal it s a big enough deal to us when paying the prices they require.
Date night with the hubby and had a delicious meal. Staff was great and entertaining (had the table side caesar). My one tiny critique would be that I would have loved a wet towelette after the seafood tower instead of at the end of entire meal. The brine from the crab legs made my hands sticky. Other than that, enjoyed everything we ate.
Dry aged beef on-site, serene ambience, first class service, and the food was SO GOOD! CUT is on the second floor and SCHUCK is on the entry floor, both within the Courtyard Marriott.
Great service and food. Bit pricey but you know that when you go there.
Great food waitress excellent
Very nice restaurant and service was excellent
Wonderful dining experience. Would highly recommend for a special ocassion. We really enjoyed our entire meal!
Great experience, staff were very friendly and attentive, no complaints with service at all. Food was amazing and was from a small set menu.
Trying to be fancy but ends up just being over priced for average food.
Overpriced but definitely best steak I had in a while. The Alberta rib eye. They actually season when they cook unlike many other steakhouses.
My first visit to CUT was a bit disappointing. For what we paid, I expected to be blown away and really wasnt. I started with a Caesar salad, prepared tableside, which was a near experience. The salad was excellent but at the end of the day, it was just a Caesar salad. I then shared the Carpaccio starter with my girlfriend and that was quite good as well. The main course is where my disappointment set in. I had the 14oz Atlantic boneless ribeye, cooked medium rare, and it left a lot to be desired. I had dined at the Barrington steakhouse the night before and also had their 14oz boneless ribeye cooked medium rare and it was incredible. I figured CUT would be equivalent or a notch above the Barrington but that wasnt the case. My steak just wasnt tender like I had hoped it to be. It took effort to cut through. It was flavourful but I expected better. We were a table of 5 and nobody was truly blown away by their meals. Especially for the price. There is definitely equivalent, if not better, restaurants in Halifax where you can get the same experience for less money.
Excellent food and staff
Place was empty.and they got out steaks wrong. The wrong cut at The Cut!!!!
Excellent food. $$$$$ but you get what you pay for. Its a food experience!
Really enjoyed ceasar salad. Great service, great handling of a screaming baby situation.
Service at Cut is always above and beyond. The food is delicious and selection for food and alcohol will appeal to almost everyone. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, Cut is definitely a great choice.
Best steak in Nova Scotia.
Excellent service, beautiful ambience. Sat outside and the scenery was amazing as it changed into the evening. Food was elegant ad perfectly portioned.
The Cut Steakhouse in Halifax, Nova Scotia had delicious locally raised and marvelously aged #steaks. The accompaniments were mmmm inspiring too. Their #cocktails and creme brulee was next level too. And finally their #mixologist and server were 10/10. We highly recommend this place for fine dining if you visit the Atlantic region.
Wonderful service and delicious food.
The meal and service were above reproach. The personal touch regarding previous table selection was heart felt. A special thanks goes out to Jonathan and the excellent personal care that he and the rest of the staff to make this truly an experience to remember. Thank you.
Good to visit when you feel like a fine dining course. Everything is beyond the perfection.
Ordered our meal on line. Manager called to confirm order and time. Arrived to pick up order and everything was ready. Got home and had a lovely meal done just right. Thanks to the cook and manager for our great perfect meal.
Went here for dine around to try it out. They werent doing it this weekend (go figure). Alas we wanted to try the place out anyways so we stayed. Ordered tenderloin and scallops. Scallops were large, but $22 for two scallops seemed a bit steep. The tenderloin was meh. Nothing special. To be honest, costco steaks are better. The lady next to us ordered a striploin. And it was thin and didnt look appetizing. In my opinion, this steakhouse just isnt worth the hefty price tag. Service was amazing though.
Food was delicious and the service was outstanding.
Absolutely wonderful experience and would give this a 5 star. Highly recommended
A fantastic high end steak house. We appreciated how though its high end, my family and I still felt comfortable (even though we typically go to more family style restaurants). Word of note, between the American striploin, Canadian striploin, and the tenderloin (your cheaper options) we found the Canadian striploin the most flavorful. The ceasar salad is made from scratch at your table, and shareable. Would recommend for a fancy night out.
Bad waitress bad attitude. Won t be there anymore.
Simply the best service and best Steak I have had
I love this place! Definitely a great spot for a good steak!
A true fine dinning experience. Every element of our meal was extaordinary. Staff are rock solid and fantastic ambasadors for the restaurant.
Not what its made out to be.
Amazing food. Spectacular service.
I loved the food! It was incredible. The service was the best Ive ever had. But on the pricy side but the best steak Ive ever had.
Great food and service
The food was excellent but very pricey. Nice atmosphere
How does a steak house that charges $230 for its top steak, mix up the order. A sirloin looks nothing like a a ribeye. $300 meal and they get the Cut wrong!!!!
Keith was amazing and the entire meal was delicious
Everything is good but the steaks. The smoked flavor is bad. The wagyu is so greasy. I used to have wagyu in Japan and the taste is different. So disappointed. The service is ok. We have four people and they only prepared three desserts for us. Everything is ok. The price is definitely not matching the food quality. You can try if you want but dont expect it.
Although the environment of this steak house is good, the price is expensive. Not to mention the price, the taste is just average. I ordered a wagyu beef, which is still Australian AA9, but there is no taste of wagyu at all, and it doesn t melt in the mouth like wagyu. I feel like I don t recommend you order it here, it s a waste! Other steaks are passable, but the service here is still good!
Food is always incredible and the bartender is great to chat with and the drinks he creates are amazing!
Great steaks, sides are large for fine dining, focus on the steak and share the sides :) enjoy!!
