An Elegant Take on the Classics
The best tea experience I’ve ever had. The food and pastries were delicious, especially the scones, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. I can’t wait to go back for another afternoon tea.
Fawn is everything i’m so so glad to have in Halifax. The food and vibes are always immaculate. This is the place I go to when I need a little drink and a caesar salad and fries with the girls! High tea! Special occasion dinner! (Fawn has ruined caesar salads for me they have set the bar TOO HIGH.) The service is also always incredible - even when the house is slammed staff always take the time to make sure you have a special time, even if you’re just in there for drinks and a little nosh. The music, the art, the drinks, the food. I honestly cannot praise Fawn enough. I’d say it is well worth planning a trip around.
We visited the afternoon tea experience for my daughters birthday and oh we were right choosing that. Food was delicious, the savory items were my favorites but my daughters loved the sweets. Service was supreme, they made a special effort to make my daughter feel special and she felt like a princess. Some how it took us a long time to find them buy it has definitely become one the favorites.
What a cozy and jazzy restaurant!!😁Really love the atmosphere of this restaurant and the service was great from the beginning to the end of the dinner. The food was yummy tasting but not worth the expensive price. It also made my stomach very sick the next day and during the night which was unfortunate as it was very tasty and the customer service was great. The menu was small, but had some great staples on it. Would recommend coming to this place if you’ve been wanting to try it but personally I did not find this restaurant special enough to return.
The atmosphere is really great and lowkey with the high cellings and low lighting; really great for a special occasion or a date night. But honestly the food was nothing special, it was fine but just mediocre. The rigatoni was really good and the highlight, but the rest we got was just fine and the bread was veryyyy greasy. The service was a little overbearing but nice; but overall just an ok experience.
Wonderful food, fantastic drinks, beautiful decor, and caring, personal service. The lobster roll was an elevated version of a Maritime Classic and did not disappoint! The non-alcoholic Shirley temple would’ve made ten-year-old me squeal: a delightfully reimagined classic that featured Amarena cherries and fresh orange juice. The decor was comfortable, colourful, and homey, and I’ll be sure to try matching my outfit to the gorgeous blues, oranges and purples next time! Finally, I’d like to thank Fawn for their excellent service. What was initially meant to be a celebratory dinner became somber, as a family member is close to the end of his life. Upon telling staff this, they gave us desserts on the house, and offered condolences. I don’t have the words to explain how much this meant-sometimes, a gesture goes so much farther than you know. TLDR: excellent food, wonderful vibe, kind people and a relaxing atmosphere. I cannot recommend it enough!
My second time here because we heard the lobster rolls were the best in the city. As usual the decor and service was top notch. I was very disappointed by their zucchini dish compared to the one they had last summer. Sad the menu is not as good anymore. The filet mignon steak disappointed everyone at the table in presentation and technique for the price. Bread was good, tartare was good, pasta was quite sweet and I felt the noodles were too thick. Every drink was amazing and aestheticly pleasing. Service was very thoughtful I noticed. Great waiter!
I had an absolutely delightful dining experience at this restaurant! The food was incredibly delicious, with each bite bursting with flavor. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the evening. As for the ambiance, it was wonderfully gentle and romantic, setting the perfect mood for a special evening. This restaurant truly exceeded our expectations, and I can't wait to return for another memorable meal.
Fawn Offers lots of delicious gluten free and dairy sensitive options. We started with Oysters and the Tune Crudo with their sage and rosemary french fries. Followed by the spinach salad and the zucchini wrapped cod. Everything was very flavourful and felt satisfying without a ton of carbs. We finished with the lemon meringue pie that my friend described as the closest she has ever come to bungee jumping. A great spot for a group gather or a private dinner for two.
Its a very atmospheric restaurant. Good environment for friends dinner or dating.
I took my five year old daughter for the high tea on a Saturday afternoon and it was absolutely perfect. The service, spread, and atmosphere were top notch. From the hostess that greeted and sat us, to our server, and the additional support staff that ran our drinks/food everyone made the day super special for my daughter. Would highly recommend this high tea experience. I have also previously dined in on a night out with a friend and my experience then was equally as great. We were served by their somm at the bar who expertly guided us in ordering perfectly paired apps and wine. As an additional added bonus- Fawn also holds the best espresso martini in the city.
Delicious food and wonderful staff !!
Thomas was incredible. Loved the whole experience. Too full of love and happiness now.
We had a lovely dinner, friendly staff, great ambience, superb food. I had chicken cacciatore and my wife has the trout. Really well prepared, delicious. Certainly will be returning soon to try some of the other options. Too many choices!
I had my wedding reception at Fawn, and it was above and beyond my expectations- every aspect, to the food, service, atmosphere and execution of the reception was incredible. Leading up to the day, I had a huge amount of questions for their event coordinator, Bronwyn- she not only made my partner and I feel totally at ease from the beginning but fielded every question with so much grace and kindness- we are indebted to her for making our evening beyond perfect and truly ensuring no detail was left unnoticed. 50 people attended our event, and I heard SO much praise about the deliciousness of the food, the professionalism of the staff, and the beauty of the space. To the food, the service, the atmosphere- they are SO good at what they do. The owners are clearly dedicated to their business, and it shows- they were all on site for our event to ensure the evening ran smoothly. We ll be back again and again, and I urge others to give this place your love, whether it be for a special event or a simple luncheon- this spot is really special.
Great experience for High Tea
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Fawn. I recommend the burger, the bun is pretty special. Service was great, thanks Christian and Ceilidh, you made us feel welcome. Ken Food : 5/5 |
Love the experience
Outstanding!! Ok so I have eaten in A LOT of restaurants and this one brought me to tears. Specially my husband and I shared the risotto appy and it was soooo amazing . We both had fresh pasta for a main . Shared it and essentially fought over it! Most important, lot , our bar tender/server Christian was exceptional. Great recommendations and great service. Hi bartender skill were above par as was his personality. We dined in a few high end restaurants in the area during our trip and this one far exceeded our expectations. We originally found out about this restaurant from out server whom we met in Lunenburg. For lack of better words this place was BANG On! Bring the Kleenex because it it that good!
We celebrated our colleague s bachelorette party here. They offer a tea party (teapots of tea with sweet and savory snacks), which was perfect for us. They even provided gluten-free options for one of us. The service was top-notch as well.
If you want the best risotto in town while having the best ambience and serviced by the most caring people, Fawn is just the place.
This was my first time dining at Fawn and it was a wonderful experience overall. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, she made us feel comfortable right away. The Tuna Crudo was amazing! I would highly recommend!
We were a walk in of six and a baby/toddler for dinner. Everyone was so accommodating and lovely, the food was delicious, everything was amazing!
Had an absolutely lovely time! The service was amazing and the food was so tasty! Would definitely recommend, and ask for Kate if you can!
Always a 11/10 experience at Fawn! The staff make you feel right at home and the food/drink exceeds expectations. This place holds a very special place in my heart Fawn forever!
I imagine heaven serves Chef Natalie s tuna crudo
Great vibes, great wine. The burger is so good, the tuna crudo is so good.
The atmosphere and Tuna Crudo is the best I have ever had. This is a Halifax gem! I can t say enough about the food, drinks and service. Also love the menu! Love this place!!!
Hands down the best dining experience I ve had during my trip to Halifax! Tuna crudo is a MUST! Had to come back on the weekend for high tea, macaroons were incredible!
Beautiful place, wonderful food, excellent service.
The service was excellent, made us feel right at home. The food was perfect, approachable, fun. The non-alcoholic cocktails were a great addition- the effort put into these is much appreciated! Food
Had the Monday prix fixe menu tonight and it was absolutely lovely for the price. Service staff were also very lovely. Will 100% be back.
I went on a Saturday with two co-workers and my wife for high tea. Not cheap - $55 - but totally worth it. We had a fine time, thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. Planning to go again.
Felt welcomed by the staff and servers Food was delicious spaghetti and meatballs were very good as was the focaccia bread Food
My daughter and I booked Tea in The Gardens, and it was such a delightful experience. Our tea box looked beautiful and tasted even better. It was the most thoughtfully put together afternoon package. Highly recommend!
Overall consistent friendly service, which is our main reason of repeat returns. Casual fine dining so well executed and fresh twists on classics, makes this spot an absolute must! We can t wait to return.
The manager went out of her way to get my husband & I a table. When we booked there were only seats available at the bar but when a table opened up she called us to offer it which was so appreciated! The food was exceptional, as always .we had a great night! We both love Fawn! Parking: Paid parking is available at Park Lane Garage, underground paid parking at the Curve building, paid parking in an open lot between Park Lane & the Curve & paid street parking.
Been here dozens of times and I can t believe it s even possible to get better, but they do. This spinach salad is a legend already. Best in Halifax by far. Chocolate cake as well. Top chef, top staff and beautiful location. A must in Halifax.
Went for dinner with a group of 10, food was excellent, but service was not great. Took 45 min to get first drink, periodic after that, and considering they added 30% gratuity to the bill automatically, this was a little much. If youre expected to auto tip this much, the service should match. Overall enjoyable night, atmosphere was nice.
Had an absolutely delicious Valentines day dinner here. The sommelier (?Bronwyn) sat and chatted with us at length. They do great takes on classic dishes. The manager Cèilidh is super sweet. If youre looking for an impressive meal and friendly staff, go to Fawn. Worth it.
Food was just ok. Uninspired.
My boyfriend and I just had my graduation dinner here tonight and I had to leave a review. Outstanding food, outstanding service! Can be pricey, but it s so worth it for a fancier dinner (it was my graduation dinner) I will definitely be back for special occasions!
Fawn is a beautiful spot that serves one of the best things I have ever eaten - their tuna crudo. Everything we ate was delicious, and the service was spectacular. If you can get a reservation, you should definitely go! It s a comfortable atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and is run by some incredible women. Will definitely be back again!!!
Fawn is an absolute gem of a restaurant. The chill atmosphere is perfect for after work cocktails or full fledged dinner reso s. The tuna crudo is life-changing!! Service was impeccable and the cocktails and wine list pair beautifully with their menu. 11/10
I visited Fawn for high tea. The food was good. I was disappointed in the way the staff presented themselves for what should have been an upscale experience for the price. High tea is just as much about the atmosphere, as it is about the food. The amount of savory options was minimal compared to other high teas I ve enjoyed. When we entered the restaurant, we were not greeted with a warm welcome, but instead with a condescending stare from the employee at the front. Overall, I feel like this was an amateur attempt for a restaurant to bring something new to an untapped market in Halifax.
I booked high tea this past Sunday as I attended an event at Fawn in early March and was so impressed by tea service they held for a large group of 50. The selection of both savoury and sweet, as well as the deviled eggs and scones - were ah - mazing. The tea selection lovely. The staff engaged in explaining everything in detail to myself, partner and mother in law. Everything made from scratch which is rare these days. It really couldn t have been a better experience. I ve attended high tea at the Boston Public Library and in London twice - this experience did not disappoint. Thank you for taking such good care of us !! We will be back !
Title: A Culinary Delight: Our Experience at The Fawn RestaurantOur evening at The Fawn Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance was inviting, and the service provided by Andrea elevated our dining experience to new heights. We started our culinary journey with a delightful array of dishes. The hamburger was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, while the oysters were fresh and succulent, leaving us craving for more. The meatball sandwich was a comforting delight, packed with savory goodness, and the spaghetti was a true classic, perfectly al dente with a rich and flavorful. And lets not forget about the chocolate cake for dessert a decadent finale to our meal that left our taste buds dancing with joy.But what truly stood out was Andreas impeccable service. Not only did she guide us through the menu with expertise, but she also introduced us to some amazing wines that perfectly complemented our meal, enhancing the flavors and overall experience. In conclusion, our experience at The Fawn Restaurant was nothing short of amazing. From the delectable dishes to the impeccable service, its a dining destination that well be returning to again and again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable culinary adventure.
We went for dinner and felt welcomed by the first greeting and coat check, comfortable seating and nice atmosphere. Apps, drinks, pasta, tea and the most amazing chocolate cake were all incredible! A bit pricey but the quality is on par with the price! Great service and never felt rushed. Ill be back!
Hello! We had dinner at Fawn last night. I would absolutely come back. The atmosphere was elegant and unique. The food was incredible. The tuna was a delicacy and the best new treat I ve had in ages. Possibly the very best thing was our server Bronwyn. Brownynn was intelligent, charismatic and just made the experience exactly what we needed. It really makes such a difference to be treated with such authenticity and kindness. A delightful experience. Thank you so much and so happy to have this gorgeous restaurant in our city.
Unfortunately was not as expected. Went as a group of 5 for high tea birthday. Portion sizes were very small per person. Each paying $50+ that amount to over $350. The high tea meals are served to be shared amongst the group, we each received 3 single desserts (macaroon, cake) 1 tea biscuit, a single cracker appitizer, 1/5th of a cucuber sandwich and 1 devil egg. Photo attached of meal divided amongst 5 people with the option of 1 tea bag for the entire stay. The high tea tasted good, but questionable if worth the value paid. The atmosphere was bright, clean and vibrant. If you are going for high tea just expect to leave hungry (this would have been helpful for us to know). This was my first high tea experience, and Ive been told this isnt usually the normal serving portions. Unfortunately, as a group, we left very disatisfied, hungry with a disappointed birthday girl.
My first visit was great, my second was not. Our party of three spent a lot of money there and then they rushed us out because of the next reservation needing the table (Note: we had *just finished* our mains with no offer of dessert/coffee...). That has never happened to me in a restaurant, neither here nor in other cities. They may have a tight schedule, but its not a place you want to go to enjoy a relaxed meal. Dear Fawn: You need to reconfigure your reservation system so that paying diners dont feel rushed and get basically kindly kicked out. Not cool.
This place is spectacular! The food was 10/10, the vibes were just perfect. Probably some of the best food I ve had In Halifax. I d come again and again. I can t wait to come back and try the other items and high tea.
Loved it. High tea was delicious, we (party of 2) wanted a quiet spot, it was 1pm on a Satuday! they moved us to the back corner. It was perfect! Food was amazing, the tea was delicious, service great, we loved our server. I cant wait to go back, cause all the other food looked great too!
I had high tea with a group of friends for a birthday. It was very disappointing for the price. I understand that high tea is supposed to be a very light afternoon event, but for the price this was ridiculous. For $50 person, it was 1 tea bag, 1/5 of a cucumber sandwich, half a devilled egg, some chicken salad on a very tiny cracker, two pieces of cake that were very small (like 3 x 1 ), a macaroon, and a tea biscuit. You can expect to leave as hungry as you were when you came into the restaurant. The quality of the food and the ambiance is lovely, but quite frankly this was an absolute rip off.
Food was delicious. We have done high tea in Ireland and the food at Fawn was superb, in taste and quality. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: The severer asked about allergies. Kid-friendliness: There were children having high tea with a parent. Too cute Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to enter restaurant or washrooms
absolutely outstanding, the food is always delicious (maybe the best in town), the service is always very pleasant and fast, and the price is very reasonable for the quality! I highly recommend trying the teas they serve as well as the tiramisu for dessert, and all of their pasta dishes are phenomenal.
I love Fawn - The food is absolutely outstanding for any time of day. So many things to choose from. The atmosphere is beautiful! The staff are always so friendly. I highly recommend and always love spending time there with friends. Such a special place in the city!
Consistently awesome. Delicious food and excellent service.
Some food was really good, but the mussels were so stale they seems risky to eat. The worst part, however, is that the servers seemed unhappy and disinterested.
Amazing culinary experience! It is a must-visit if you are in Halifax! We enjoyed excellent drinks and delicious food! Amazing dessert! Unforgettable for a date night! Food : 5/5 |
The high tea was well presented and very delicious! The staff were friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend
Ate our way through half the menu over two dinner visits and every dish wash exceptional. Personal favourites were the rigatoni, crab dip, caesar salad and burger. Wife loved the banana pudding. Service and atmosphere were great. Well be back again and again! Parking: Street-side and underground paid parking available.
Great cocktails, service, decor, and food! Special shoutout to the french fries! Also appreciate the coat check, really nice touch.
My sister and I had the best server, Scott! He is personable, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile. We would definitely recommend and would love to have Scott again!
Fawn is one of the best dining experiences in Halifax! The food, drinks, and ambiance are all top-notch. The cocktails are delicious and leverage a wide variety of spirits. The wine list is also very well thought out. The menu has a healthy diet of seafood and a few dishes like the crab dip and tuna crudo that will keep you coming back. You cant go wrong with any of the mains either! Highly recommend Fawn for a family dinner, date, or drinks with friends. Vegetarian options: Great salad options and the vegan cauliflower dish is amazing.
Had an early dinner here and the food and service was exceptional. Three friends shared 3 apps (olives, cauliflower and crab dip), the rigatoni a la vodka and the chocolate cake and everything was exceptional but the rigatoni was a group fav. We also all had the hotel Georgia cocktail which was great, and tried a wonderful new bottle of wine based on recommendation of our server. Highly recommend.
Its fine. Expensive for what they give ya. And Hot Tip: If making a dinner reservation weeks in advance like we did, ask/beg to not be seated and the very small Water Station/POS table. It is guaranteed to ruin any meal you plan on having here.
Being a long-time big fan of another restaurant in their family, I had high expectations for the overall experience, yet a fear that Fawn would win me over. The good news is that the experience exceeded my expectations, the better news is that I m going to be eating out more often. High marks for the coffee, the decor, and everything else. Attention to detail is very high and I like that. Kid-friendliness: My kids have an adventurous palate and they were very happy with everything, the soft scrambled, the mussels, the amatriciana and the rice pudding. Nothing was left after they were done. Happy Dad too.
Delicious food and amazing service. We enjoyed everything!
The food was spectacular! Everything was incredible. From the cocktails to the dessert, it was all delicious! The space is gorgeous and the staff is so friendly. I will be back for sure!
Had a wonderful night at Fawn with our server Sarah (she s amazing), food was good, very spacey and beautiful place, it s worth a visit if you live in HFX or if you re visiting!
Hamburger, the patty was dry and overcooked ($32 for a burger with fries ($23 without) seems a bit steep.) My wife had the Chicken al Marsala, overcooked, tough and salty. The grilled Caesar salad was excellent. The service was excellent. So a mixed bag.
Oof, this was a doozy. Four of us dined at Fawn early on a Saturday night. While the food was largely delicious, we had some major service interruptions that made it nearly impossible to enjoy our meal. To start, our server awkwardly brought us canned beer and joked that she wouldnt be pouring it because it would be too foamy lol. We had a bizarre exchange about our plates being replaced (why set tables with tiny plates youre going to replace immediately?), but the replacements didnt arrive when our first course showed up and another server had to hurriedly find some. the mains started arriving way too fast (we were about halfway through our first course), and we were then told we had someone elses food and that we would be waiting 10-15 minutes for the other two dishes to arrive. This is kind of when things got insufferable. We were visited every 90 seconds by multiple members of staff apologizing, using terms like car crash and trainwreck and disaster to describe our experience - words we hadnt used ourselves(yet). We were made to feel like we had to console the staff for their own ineptitude. They were visible pointing and staring from the service station, muttering about all of the issues we were experiencing. It made it impossible to enjoy the food(which was very tasty!) as every single minute we were visited by a parade of servers trying to win us over. Comps were offered throughout, even while more issues piled on. The servers do not ask for colour on steaks(some places dont) but we were also served a quite rare burger without any mention of colour when ordering. The Spaghetti was incredibly fishy, which again is ok - but I feel it should be communicated more clearly to guests that anchovy is *the* major flavour of the sauce. This is information that should not be extracted from a server, it should be volunteered up front as anchovy is a very divisive flavour. Desserts were served with more pathos hopefully this will help get things back on track attitude, which at this point was absolutely exhausting to hear. I have never been so anxious to leave a restaurant in my life. If youve made it this far, I really want to stress that the food is GOOD. The tuna crudo and cauliflower were both light but very flavourful. The menu caters to allergies/aversions nicely. Fries are perfect, pasta was cooked perfectly too, desserts were delicious. Hard to fault the kitchen on this one, at all. Ultimately, the service is a massive barrier to enjoyment. If youre going to have 180 dollar caviar service highlighted on your menu, the absolute basics of service have to be on point. I dont care to be served high end food by someone wearing dirty reeboks and acid wash jeans, who cant pour a beer tableside. I understand an aversion to stuffiness in modern restaurants, but a little more respect for the product and clientele would go a long way to building value into a $$$$$ restaurant. The kitchen is producing great food, but it is being framed poorly by fragile and unconfident service. Some positives - Phoning in for a reservation was easy. We were told upfront our table was rebooked and we would have 2 hours to dine. that is always appreciated. The manager who made an appearance was calm and professional, offering to comp some items for the issues. She was the only one to quickly and professionally address the issues and then leave us to our meal. The room is pretty and the ambiance is good. perhaps some privacy screens for service stations would allow the staff some off stage space to regroup more effectively. Im not going to gamble another visit, but I do hope they find their footing. They have a great location and great food, but the service is squandering a golden opportunity for them.
Went for the full experience (cocktails, appetizers, mains, dessert) and it was all delicious. The cocktails were a particular stand-out, as was the service, which were both superb. Upscale without being stuffy. Great vibes. Will certainly go back!
Went to dinner here tonight with my friends, was our first time so we were all excited. The food was good and the place has a nice ambiance. Server told us there were people waiting for our table there was a reservation made for 7pm. Ours was 5pm, he was nice about it but not good customer service to tell your customers they have to leave. Also coat check can be a little organized too lol.
My girlfriend and I decided to try this new gem for lunch and it was practically a perfect experience for us. The food, ambiance, view, service and music (something I personally loved) checked all of our boxes. Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere! And great food! Excited to check out the brunch menu sometime soon! We ordered 5 appetizers to share & the server was excellent and planning which to come together so we could enjoy them all!!
Our server was condescending and insufferably rude. Ive never experienced anything remotely close to that at a legitimate restaurant. This is my first (and likely only) time Ill leave a 1-star review for a business, but wow she earned it. The food, area, and cocktails deserve 4 stars. The server we had doesnt deserve anything, but a poor review. Very odd way to ruin an experience, but obviously we wont be back.
Food was good, but the waitress was very rude and off-putting, service ruined the experience.
Unbelievable food, great wine menu, excellent cocktails. Sarah served us and was so attentive and funny, she made sure we had a great night. Thanks Fawn/Sarah!
Taste good
I love what theyre doing at Fawn. If I had an out of town visitor I would send them here for a Maritime dining experience. The food is well-executed classics with the chefs unique spin - the recipes arent trendy but they are one of a kind. The wine list and cocktails are among the best in the city. I also love the east coast vibe of the servers - its unpretentious. I feel like Im spending time with my best pals from Halifax and Cape Breton when Im in there. Thats what I love about living here, and Im not sure where else in the city you can have that experience while eating fine food.
Food was very good, just so expensive it s hard to recommend. We made a reservation for Valentine s Day 5 weeks in advance. We were not told at the time of the time of booking that it was a set menu. We were called to confirm our reservation and were still not told about the set menu. The only option was the set $95 dollars plus tax and tip is ($140 with tax and tip; per person), which is an uncomfortable amount for most considering that s before any sort of drinks.
We had such a wonderful evening at Fawn. An absolutely beautiful space and delicious food. Tuna Crudo was absolutely incredible and don t skip dessert: have the banana cream.
This is a great spot! Food was incredible, service was great. Highly recommended making a reservation here.
My partner and I were curious to try out one of the new restaurants in Halifax but wanted to make sure it was truly local. So we decided on Fawn since we knew the owners were in fact local. Read lots of the reviews before hand and they do not do Fawn proper justice. With any new restaurant there are growing pains and it seems most of the bad reviews were related to that. Ironing out the kinks if you will. The food, service, and space was all amazing! Definitely a great new addition to the Halifax downtown scene. We had the special (which was a baked cheese), cauliflower, and beef tartare to start. All fantastic and unique in their own way. My partner had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka and I had the Salmon En Papillote for mains. I usually shy away from Salmon because a lot of places overcook it. Not the case here. It was a wonderful dish and cooked perfectly. Such a cool spot too! We sat up in the mezzanine which seems to be a little more intimate and the main floor had higher energy. Both great options. Do yourself a favour and ignore the bad reviews and give Fawn a shot. If you appreciate amazing local dining this spot will not disappoint. Wishing for huge success for Fawn and its owners. Good job!
This was our first time at Fawn and we had a fantastic time. We sat in a cozy booth tucked at the back of the top floor. Our little group could catch up and hear each other perfectly the whole time. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Our server, Sarah was just wonderful, and everything we ate was truly delicious. She gave great recommendations when we were torn and everyone loved their meal. Also, I definitely recommend starting the with the Burrata and the Tuna Crudo. Looking forward to returning :)
The mezzanine is awful, no vibe, awful. Service was mediocre, food and wine list meh.
Lunch at the Fawn Classy retro upscale cafe Fantastic bar environment Suitable for breakfast lunch dinner or desert Will come back again! Monte Christo Coffee 10/10 Burger 10/10 Eggs & LF baguette 9/10 Fries 10/10 Amazing service!
The service here was simply amazing!
I enjoyed my dinner here. I went on a Thursday so it had a more cozy and relaxed vibe especially with the chilled out music and awful spring weather. Our service was quick and attentive and most importantly the food and drinks were delicious. One thing I ll remember for next time is the desserts are large enough to share between two people!
Amazing spot
Had another great evening at Fawn! Service, food and ambiance is always such a wonderful experience. It s a great addition to the Halifax food scene. Highly recommend if you re looking for a new take on American classics with a casual fine-dining vibe.
Great!
Cute little spot, high ceilings (you could actually hear). We were a walk-in. And were seated at that tiny table right beside the ordering screen beside the bar... was ok, I guess. Staff are very friendly, service was good. Giving it a zero star for food... because ... we both ordered chicken marsala, rich, with radish and broccolini. Pretty tasty going down. A bit on the rich side ... We were both sick after eating. Me, all night long and still this morning (will spare the details), and my hubby also. Please check your chicken. Will be shy to go again because of that, a shame. Wish you / staff well, nonetheless. And will call to make sure you get the message so no more patrons get sick. It is the 1st and ONLY meal I ate that day. No doubts it was this meal, especially considering timing of when my body, politely speaking, started to protest!
Stopped by for brunch. Food was very good and the service was excellent. Wonderful location. Loved the tuna appetizer.
Burger was a 10 / French toast was a 10 / Eggs were a 10
Sarah and Ryan were fantastic at providing a welcoming and warm setting for a phenomenal culinary experience. The food was wayyyyy better than I was expecting, and I expect a lot. Great food. Great location. Phenomenal place to visit from start to finish.
Had dinner at Fawn last night for the first time and I was really impressed. We ordered a bunch of different things to share and everything was delicious and presented beautifully. This was easily some of the best restaurant food I have had in a long time. The portion sizes were also larger than I expected. Service was great and the space is really nice and well decorated. Very inviting and comfortable. I cannot wait to go back for more!!
Great cocktails and very tasty food. Their brunch menu is so good. Cant wait to try their weekend tea.
We loved the high tea service!!
Had high tea. Pro: cosy atmosphere, ok service, pastries look great, excellent salmon blini Cons: cracked teapot, tarnished service tri-platter, burnt scones (replaced with delicious scones), mismatched tea service, bread was chewy, pastries just okay, expensive
On a memorable Mothers Day, we decided to treat ourselves to a delightful experience at Fawn in Halifax. Opting for their high tea service, we embarked on an afternoon filled with elegance, warmth, and exquisite flavors. It turned out to be a truly magical day that left us with cherished memories. From the moment we stepped into Fawn, we were enveloped by an atmosphere of charm and tranquility. The ambiance exuded a sense of sophistication, with its soft hues, tasteful decor, and gentle background music. It was the perfect setting to celebrate the special occasion and create an unforgettable experience. As we settled into our seats, the high tea service began, and we were whisked away on a culinary journey like no other. The attention to detail was impeccable, with each tiered tray showcasing an array of delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and an assortment of delectable pastries. The presentation alone was a feast for the eyes. But it wasnt just the visual appeal that impressed us it was the exceptional taste and quality of every morsel. The sandwiches were meticulously crafted, each bite bursting with flavorful combinations. The scones were warm, buttery, and accompanied by clotted cream and house-made preserves that added a touch of sweetness to every bite. And oh, the pastries! Each one was a miniature work of art, decadently indulgent and leaving us longing for more. What truly elevated our experience at Fawn was the impeccable service and warm hospitality we received. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and ensured that every detail was taken care of. They made us feel like cherished guests, adding a personal touch to our celebration and making my wife feel truly special on her day. As we enjoyed the exquisite food and soaked in the serene ambiance, time seemed to stand still. It was a moment of pure relaxation and appreciation, shared with loved ones in a space that radiated warmth and elegance. Fawn in Halifax proved to be the perfect destination for our Mothers Day celebration. From the delightful atmosphere to the impeccable high tea service, everything exceeded our expectations. If youre looking for a place where you can create treasured memories and indulge in exceptional flavors, Fawn is a hidden gem that should not be missed.
Went for a staff party and itll be one Ill never forget <3 thank you to those who worked that day and were so kind to us (Sarah you rock ) food and drinks were amazing of course ! Dietary restrictions: were very helpful with peanut and dairy free options!
Nice place but food is so so. I ordered pasta but it was too salty, I couldn t even finish half of it. The burger was way too oily, broccoli dish was terrible. Def not gonna back
great bartender
I was so truly excited to try this restaurant, after having such a wonderful experience at their sister restaurant Field Guide I couldn t wait to try Fawn! Wow, the food was spectacular and atmosphere was beautiful! BUT the waitress seem to be unhappy to be serving us, and was more concerned with chatting with her friends at the front desk. She didn t come over once to ask if we wanted anything else to drink or to top up our sparkling water till we were done eating, and asked, for the bill. We had gone for my birthday dinner and because the services was so poor. We decided to go have dessert somewhere else. Sadly, disappointed ..
Fawn presents a lovely dining experience. Very interesting menu, with vegetarian/vegan options. The flavours are so amazing and on point!! Be it the cappuccino, the spaghetti, the chocolate cake, they were just perfect. It may also have been the best chocolate cake I ve had in Halifax! A wonderful experience overall!! This place has a wonderful ambiance and overall energy. And there is a great team making everything happen! I look forward to returning wish you the best, Fawn team.
Had a beautiful meal at Fawn last night. Beautiful room, excellent service and many dishes I will be going back to eat again, especially the burger, tuna crudo and the meatballs.
Super happy to see Fawn with a casual morning coffee service! With great breakfast cookies and tea biscuits too
dropped in for a shot
The staff were incredible and the food was delicious. The steaks were cooked perfectly to temperature. The glass bottles of coke were a nice touch. The one thing to talk about, more than anything else, was the fries. They are fantastic, and worth the visit all on their own.
We randomly decided to walk in and glad we did. The decor of this place was amazing and the food was great too. I had the burger and my partner had the salmon dish. I highly recommend the fries and mixing the mayo and hot sauce for a dip.
Had a lovely dinner at Fawn. The decor and atmosphere is so enjoyable. Matt was our server and he and the rest of the team went above and beyond to make our evening fantastic! Best service I ve had at restaurant in a long time!
Nice decor! We had the smoked salmon but not enough selections to encourage us to come back. Menu at the door which brought us in was different than the menu delivered to us at the table. Waitress looked like she would like to be anyway else but serving us. Didnt know if they offer dessert and was it was never mentioned. Very pricey! It has potential but lots needs to be changed. More selection, price adjustments, happy employees!
Great spot. Nice location, good ambiance, relaxing. We split the salmon plate and a cider. Everything was tasty. Reasonably priced, although other things on the menu seemed pricey. Would be 5 stars but I didn t really see anything else on the menu that appeals. I ll wait until the menu turns over to come back.
Had so much fun!
This was the perfect place to have brunch in Halifax. The ambiance, the jewel tones, the high ceilings. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea spread and a lox plate.
Average food, nothing special at all. Id rather go to their sister restaurant field guide Food
Great for appetizers and cocktails, especially the tuna and shrimp (the minty sauce is phenomenal), beautiful ambiance Service is a hit or miss Dinner options are average, Field Guide wins 1000% here
Beautiful inside and great service! The food (pasta specifically) was way too salty so I probably would order something else next time.
I love this restaurant - whether it s brunch or dinner, the menu is fabulous. And their high tea looks amazing! Their burrata dish is out of this world. The grapefruit is my favourite at brunch! The atmosphere can t be beat. It s so beautiful inside and cozy. Staff are so thoughtful and attentive, and always have great suggestions. A guaranteed great experience.
Amaaaaaaaaaazing food. Frig. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free Food : 5/5 |
Great food, in particular the seafood and rice pudding. Slow but attentive service.
Drinks were okay but nothing special, service was extremely slow and the food was very salty. Spent about 2 hours waiting for mains - won t be back unfortunately
This is the spot to wear your favourite outfit and put on your best perfume, and do it up! Favourites are tuna crudo, chopped salad, burger and banana pudding! The wine and cocktails are thoughtful The Fawn martini is a must.
Everything from the atmosphere, service, and food was 10/10. Such a beautiful space, the staff are so knowledgeable, and the food was amazing. Can t wait to go back!
This restaurant is a dream! From the moment you walk in, you re in awe of the stunning decor and layout of this elegant space and chill atmosphere. The food is top tier featuring amazing high tea brunch and dinner menus; both of which I ve had the pleasure of eating. It s always a treat to go to Fawn as the staff offers incredible knowledgeable and friendly hospitality. Can t wait to book my next reso!
Fawn is everything. The food is outstanding, dinner was so delicious we came back the next day for lunch. Chef Natalie Rosen s talent shines on every dish coming out of the kitchen! You can tell the BOH and FOH all love what they do and the energy in there is so good. The atmosphere is 10/10 and the aesthetic is also standout! The Tuna is truly the best thing I ve ever put in my mouth. period. A must visit ( again and again and again) if you re in the Halifax area.
A gorgeous space with phenomenal food. I m obsessed with their lunch menu. Their oysters, tuna and tomato sandwich, salmon plate, & fries are among my favorites. Add a Fawn ceasar for absolute perfection.
Food, incredible. Cocktails, incredible. Service, incredible. Vibe, incredible. Thank you for the best time, each and every time :)
We were given the opportunity to enjoy an absolutely incredible meal from Fawn Restaurant while in Halifax. The Rigatoni, my mother ordered, was absolutely delicious!! She said it was the best shes ever had. My husband had the burger and fries and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I was lucky to get a bite!! Im a salad girl. The combination of ingredients in Fawns salad that was topped with a mouthwatering dressing was impeccable. We will definitely be ordering again. While our circumstances dictated having the order delivered, I can assure you we will definitely be enjoying the atmosphere in the restaurant at a future date! Miriam
I recently dined here and was unfortunately let down by the experience. The most striking issue was the timing of the meal service. It was quite disconcerting to have our main courses served while we were only halfway through our appetizers. This rush detracted significantly from the enjoyment of our meal. Additionally, the overall service left much to be desired. Given these issues, I find the restaurant to be overrated and cannot recommend it based on my experience.
Went for a birthday high tea and wasnt disappointed. Service was quick, attentive, and fun. Food was killer. Great vibe.
This place is about to be my new favourite place in Halifax. Delicious food and tasty cocktails. Our server Taylor last night was so lovely. Congratulations on opening
Great, wicked, awesome, make a reservation, and go.
My new favourite restaurant in Halifax!!
One of the best things to happen to Halifax
Amazing
drinks were good! food was a bit disappointing compared to other restaurants that have opened this year, especially the vegetarian options. tuna crudo was great!
I came here just for some wine and they are exquisite. Moreover, this cozy restaurant has left impressions! Hospitable hosts simplistic wine list. I would recommend to everyone would come here again and get food.
Amazing staff! Everyone we interacted with was so nice. Service was attentive and quick - our three courses took less than an hour to come out. We were sitting at the bar, and at one point either a sprinkler went off or something shot some water into the air for ~5 seconds - we got wet. It definitely wasnt a big deal and we laughed it off, but no one acknowledged it which we thought was kind of strange. I also was charged $15 for my dessert while the menu said $12. I dont think Id go back for dinner, but Id definitely go for apps or drinks and dessert. Im looking forward to seeing the breakfast and lunch/brunch menus!
My experience at this restaurant was vastly different than the other reviews, which makes me believe they may just have been having an off night. It took us 45 minutes to get our drinks, an hour and 45 mins to get our mains. Just too long. The crab dip was delicious, as was the pasta, but the beef tartar was underwhelming. We were getting actively dripped on by the condensation build up on a pipe above our heads. When we brought it up to the server, he just said how bad is it though, really bad? -- I dont know, its off-putting at best to be getting weird water on your head and possibly in your food. The manager didnt handle it any better either. All in all, a beautiful new restaurant with some things to work out, which is to be expected.
Exceptionally delicious food in an absolutely beautiful room. Next top restaurant in Canada.
Amazing staff! Everyone we spoke to was nice and attentive. However, the service was slow at various times through my time there with my friends. Food was good. However, would like to see the burger come with fries for what it is priced at. Also would like to see more vegan options. Having only one vegan option on your To Share menu is quite disappointing, especially given that more people are choosing to go meatless. Hope your menu will improve overtime to cater what people might expect of a restaurant with your prices.
