Lakeside Bar & Grill at Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake in Halifax

Staff were friendly, service was a little slow but we weren t in a rush. They did serve previously frozen veggies with the meal which was surprising.

Best chicken sandwich I have ever eaten in my entire life! I never expect a hotel restaurant to have such an amazing sandwich!

The Lakeside grill does not have steak on the menu during the Winter so be warned. Otherwise it s great.

EVERY THING ABOUT THIS PLACE IS AWESOME ! I come here often with work and they never seem to get tired of seeing us willing to help every corner and threw any challenge they seem to face . I stayed there for a couple days on business travel winter 2023 and it was a pleasant stay. Restaurant food was delicious and room was cleaned every other day. I had the view of the frozen lake. Rooms

We attended the tea service at noon. Everything was perfect and the staff were incredible. Great tea, great view and great food. The building needs some tlc but we will return.

The burger was super delicious, been eating here for years and they have great chefs in the kitchen. The wings and blackened Haddock is on point. Hidden Gem

Had a great overall experience here! The staff were great, our waiter was very helpful & nice, our food came out to us really fast & it was delicious! I had the Maple Curry Chicken Penne & it was awesome! Definitely recommend giving that a try. Thanks for the great experience!

Amazing drinks at the bar. Brandon was a great bartender with awesome drink recommendations and awesomely prompt service. Definitely worth trying Brandons Whiskey Sour! Stayed at the hotel . Our server was Joe. He was so friendly and nice. Super excellent service! He recommended the lemon dream dessert and it did not disappoint! The food was fabulous the restaurant atmosphere was so relaxing and everyone was so polite! I would highly recommend this place to anyone! Lakeside is attached to where we are staying. The complimentary breakfast rotates it menu daily so you always have fresh options in the morning. Plus it was a gorgeous lakeside view while you are eating. We had dinner there and the server Joe was super nice!! We sat outside on the patio in the evening when it was a little cooler. They had a fireplace going and he noticed I seemed cold and brought a blanket out for me. Really good food as well!

Hostess wouldnt seat us outside or near a window because reservations which never came. Then sat a couple without reservations in the spot she wouldnt seat us. Along with the undercooked chicken I got the first time I went here, screw this place. If you are staying at the hotel, by all means its great. But as a local I dont have to travel very far to do better. (food was actually good, credit where it is due!)

A lovely location for this Best Western Hotel situated on the shore of chocolate lake. Very convenient drive to Halifax harbor. And the attached chocolate lake bar and grill restaurant was excellent.

A surprising hidden gem. Lovely patio, yummy and approachable food. I lived in Halifax for years and would always venture downtown for dinner, but I highly recommend this place.

Good food

Food was excellent, but waitress was absolutely horrible. Waited 20 mins for her to take our order, never asked how the food was or if we need anything then 45 minutes to wait for our bill. 3 waiting staff with only half the tables full didn t seem reasonably for us to wait that long.

Parking lot was not shovelled. Breakfast was not worth 14 bucks to buy if I was not a guest. Got pizza package, freemans was unaware of deal and tried to charge me a delivery fee for free pizza. Package is misleading. Prices are not what are indicated. Too many varying factors to prices. I would not get this package again. Waste of money. Plus cutlery kept breaking in my food. Smh.

I went to the Lakeside Bar and Grill today for the first day of the 2022 Halifax Burger Bash and had the BBQ Bacon Jam Burger and it was sooo goooood!! I came in the afternoon so I was one of the only ones in the place during my visit but my server Natalia was wonderful! She had a great attitude and engaged in conversations with me while I waited for my food! The restaurant has great views of Chocolate Late, I would definitely recommend a visit! The only thing I can criticise is the fries were a liiiitle too salty. Other then that it was excellent I will definitely be back! :))

Burger week!!! The burger at Lakeside Bar and Grill was the BEST burger Ive had in a long time, even beyond burger week in Halifax. Its a must try

We stayed at the hotel and ate dinner there both nights. Both meals were delicious and our server Rob went out of his way to be helpful. He is awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant

As much as the view at the front of the hotel is ugly, the view at the back of the hotel is magnificent, overlooking the lake. Nice hotel as such, very clean. Competent and attentive staff. Large dining room - you can also eat outside on the terrace. Very good meals - apparently they have good cooks. Magnificent swimming pool. There are two downsides: a) as the hotel is far from the city center, if you dont have a car, its $30/$40 round trip taxi each time you go out; b) the price of the rooms is high and varies depending on the crowd, so that I paid 20% more the following week. Recommended, but with reservations.

Although the food looked delicious, we never got a chance to find out. The hostess was very nice; seating us and bringing us water. AND THEN WE WAITED! The waitress walked by us several times while serving customers who were seated after us. We eventually asked if she was looking after our section, to which she replied yes and that she would be with us shortly. Shortly turned into quite the wait. We left and thanked that hostess for the waters. When we checked in, the gal at the front desk has recommended this establishment. When we left and told her about our service, she apologized and recommended the Armview Restaurant and Lounge down the street, which we now would recommend as well (our food arrived at the same time our drinks did).

You dont have to drive to the downtown for a lovely meal and a great view, overlooking Chocolate Lake. Love their fish tacos, my friends had their club and they said it was delicious. Also allow dogs on the patio. I have enjoyed it so much, been there twice this summer so far. My go to place for outdoor patio.

Pretty good food, the blackened haddock was seasoned just right. The fish and chips was crispy too. They have such a nice patio overlooking the chocolate lake Id say definitely come here for a drink or meal if youre staying at Best Western.

This restaurant is at a beautiful location but thats about it! The girls in the breakfast dining room are terribly TERRIBLY rude and the disgusting part about it all is that after my 4 day stay, Ive witnessed them be so unpleasant to any visible minority who needs assistance. Not a welcoming feel at all and those young girls need to get with the times. Ill be back to the hotel but Ill go outside for my food preferably. Absolutely appalled.

I go here somewhat regularly and the food and service is very inconsistent. There are times when I get the nachos, they are plentiful, hot, and brought to the table within a few minutes. Other times, you wait forever just to order and then by the time you get it, everything is cold. The location is great because there is parking, its often not super busy, and the menu changes seasonally. They also have a good selection of veggie options and the prices are fair.

It was great

Great little spot on the lake. We watched people skate and pond hockey while we ate at the restaurant. Food was amazing! Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. It was about a 20min drive to shopping centers, parking is free.

Awesome weekend with a great view watching skaters from our room and the restaurant was great. Thank you all, the greatest Best Western we have stayed at yet.

Went for 2019 burger week. Burger was good but nothing spectacular; a classic smoked bacon cheddar cheeseburger topped with sauteed onions. Service was fantastic despite how busy they were. We enjoyed our dinner and would go back thanks to our wonderful server :)

Its certainly hard to judge a restaurant based on a mothers day brunch buffet, but Ill give it a shot. The restaurant has a nice view of Chocolate Lake. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food was good. Id like to mention that though we were late to the buffet we didnt feel rushed and they offered to bring us out anything that had run out.

The food wasnt very good. They didnt understand that if one asks for a vegetarian burger, you dont serve them a non vegetarian salad. Had to wait 15 minutes to get my change after paying my bill.

Hidden gem in the area. Great food. Usually a little bit of a wait for food, but worth it.

This was the second time we had eaten there. The first time was perfect, no complaints. But yesterday (Sunday June 17) we went for a late fathers day lunch. The restaurant was not busy, there were only about 4-5 tables occupied when we were seated. Our server was not very friendly at first but seemed to warm up a little as our meal went on. We were there for a little over an hour and most of that was waiting, for both our drinks and our meal. Hard to do when you have two young children. (A wait would have been understandable had the restaurant been busier). When we finally got our food, it was great. We enjoyed our meal and then waited for our dishes to be taken. We were asked if we would like to see the dessert menu and I said we will have a quick look. While we waited again my husband took the kids outside on the patio for a change of scenery while I waited to place a to-go order for dessert. By this time there was only one other table occupied (who had come in at least 10 minutes after us). The same server approached them as they were also finished their meal and instead of offering a dessert menu, instead offered them a complimentary dessert for their wait.. I am disappointed as our wait was certainly longer but we were not offered anything complimentary. (Not that I expect anything free, but if you are going to offer it to one table for this reason when there is only one other table in the restaurant and not offer to them when they had a similar experience, I think, is unfair). I sort of watched the servers interactions with this table a little more closely after this and they appeared to be treated much better than our table was. Perhaps they were staying at the hotel and we were not? Perhaps it was because we had young kids? Im not sure of the reason but it was very disappointing.

The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely, and our waitress was awesome. We were a party of 12 and it did take almost an hour from the time we ordered until the time we got our food.

I had lunch here briefly because I was in a hurry, so I just ordered a Caesar salad. It came really quick so I was thankful for that. It was a little small, but it tasted quite alright. I wouldnt mind going again to try out some more dishes, since a Caesar salad offers a relatively limited selection from which to form an opinion. I did enjoy the view of the lake a lot and the outdoor seating looked quite enjoyable.
