Fantastic spot in the hotel. Had a few cold Pints and an out of this world Tomatoe Soup. Hands down one of the best I've tasted. The little slices of crispy bread dipped in were spot on. With the bit of melted cheese. Wow!! Servers were top notch friendly and chatty. Always a pleasure.
My fiancé had the lobster roll and I had the tomato soup and they were both delicious! The service was amazing, the atmosphere was really nice. My fiancé said the mussels were also delicious, but they’re only on the summer menu unfortunately. Would definitely recommend!!
Wonderful staff and delicious desserts and drinks. The raspberry pistachio layer cake was heaven.
Friends visiting Halifax host a dinner in this place. We had a wonderful night, in a very nice place, with very good food and amazing service. As my friend used to say the atmosphere was not bad for being in a hotel restaurant. From the beginning, everything was fantastic. The waitress from Brazil was so nice and delivered extraordinary service. My expectations before the dinner were so low, first because restaurants in a hotel are not always the best place to be, and secondly, some of the reviews were so bad. But in the end, nothing of these were true. Thanks for the service and the food. We had a great time in your place.
Really great experience. Good customer service and good food. We had the fish n chips and tortelli, both were delicious. The browned butter and molasses bread starter was also quite tasty.
We stopped by here with a group of 8 and had the best service! Their nachos were one of the best in the city with a big portion. Our waitress was very attentive and offered great service. Others had the chicken sandwich, which was huge and had great flavour.
Great pub inside The Lord Nelson Hotel. Opens late with a variety of tap options. Spacious large dining area. Serving breakfast all the way till late night suppers. Service was great, food was delicious. They changed the Tuna Tartare a bit and instead of the crostini it's now a fried rice piece that I find a bit too oily. Overall great experience every time.
The food here is pretty good but nothing to die for and the setting is very distinct and unique. The service was okay as the waitress seemed to busy chatting with other tables than taking our orders.
Everything was great food drinks staff thank you so much
The fish tastes average, but the cheese nachos are super delicious
An expensive breakfast, but at good taste one
Delicious dishes! For the banana bread French Toast!
The best nachos ever and I mean EVER. The layer the toppings evenly on all layers making if pure craftsmanship
One the best pubs Halifax! The food is top notch and the vibe is great.
Tasty nachos, very cheesy and a huge portion. The other food ordered was good too. Nice ambience.
Great breakfast. Good service.
Great brunch spot - the chicken sandwich was juicy and delicious. Also got a mimosa, which really hit the spot.
Styles, is Top Shelf! He was our Food guide. He knows his stuff. Great experience. Will be back! Food : 5/5 |
The food was excellent and my server Alex was great! Thought the blue bow ties were a bit much.
Great, friendly service. Really good drinks (mocktails) and food.
Slow service even though it was not busy. The mussels were not very fresh and overcooked to boot. There s so much potential for atmosphere here but it managed to feel like a cafeteria nonetheless
Great ambience and service. Delicious desserts. Food
Nice restaurant with good ambience. We asked to sit outside because of the perfume smell in the lobby was disturbing. Had burgers for supper. Delicious! Breakfast the next morning was mediocre. Food : 4/5
We were a table of five professionals seeing each other after 30 years. Went for brunch on this Saturday morning. Despite the sail races- not busy. I have lived Halifax my whole life. I would have been embarrassed to bring out of town guests here. Not sure what was going on in kitchen - 4 of 5 of us ordered eggs Benny poached soft. Worst I ve ever had. All the Eggs were served over cooked and hard. Hollandaise sauce cold, the yogurt was served room temp, and these things are a food safety issue. Some eggs benny had cold bacon and fries not hot. Asked for more Hollandaise to try to make eggs palatable - have something hot- took forever and also served cold. Waited a long time for same. Server said there had been issues in kitchen all morning. Four of 5 meals were terrible. Also > Coffee- had film. A Cappuccino- $4 for a tiny cup. No Refills. Were told management was aware and coming in . Service fine, but slow but no management follow up or correction. There are a lot of brunch options in Halifax. And frankly, I ve eaten here before at supper hour- good then also just average. I definitely won t be back. Not great food here. Our whole table felt the same.
Went to the Arms just after they had completed their renos; what a difference! looks great!. I had their burger and you may say its just a burger but you would then doing yourself a disservice; its absolutely fantastic! Must be among the best in the city. I went with a friend of mine who is an amazing chef and she went on about this amazing burger. SO good I went back and got another with my nephew when he came from Toronto a week later. The two young ladies who served us were really polite and very sweet to chat with. I definitely recommend to stop in and grab a bite! CHEERS!
Visited The Arms for a late night cocktail and the bartender did not disappoint! One of the best amaretto sours I ve ever had!
Amazing lobster roll. Great service. Very positive experience.
The service was exceptional. We both ordered fish and chips and the fish was over cooked, so it was a bit dry.
Been there many times, good food but too greasy, service is rude like rushing you to finish your meal. Anyway had many good memories there
Best chowder ever!! The Sea Bass was deliciously delicate with the miso and king mushroom. Well done! 10*
The place was quiet when we went so the atmosphere wasnt great. The steak was average. I am a fan of tenderloin and they serve striploin, not the same quality. However, my wife had a ceasar salad and asked for scallops on the side, that were not part of the meal, and they did add it.
We booked New Years Day brunch here for 6. Despite the fact that the restaurant was far from full, with several empty tables around us, we waited over an hour for our simple breakfast selections to be served. Every dish was disappointing and overpriced. The eggs Benedict were overcooked, bread wasn t fresh, fries were cold. There was no value here. The food was tremendously disappointing and there were no attempts on the part of the staff to make things better during the meal or afterwards. Servers didn t even come by to refill our glasses of water. What a rough way to start the New Year!
Scottie was a good server. Just went for drinks.
Im kind of disappointed. I had been there one or two times for a pint when it wasnt busy and thought we should come here some evening. I regret doing it. The food isnt great (not just mine but my colleagues food looked pretty rough) and the atmosphere isnt as cozy as I remembered. Felt like being at the Midtown. Staff were doing their best. Doubt Ill do it again. Too many other options.
The Arms is not only a great place for great food and a cool beverage, but the staff make you feel right at home. A welcoming place for all and service bar none. Scottie , one of the waiters is absolutely spectacular, a true professional . Make sure to pay a visit when in town!!! Highly recommended.
I do not know what happened to The Arms in the last year but I have been about 5 times and it has gone incredibly downhill. They have added menu items that simply do not work, I took my grandmother in from Newfoundland and the Brussel Sprouts were rock hard/raw and slimy (Yet somehow the server fought all of us on this). They have also removed and/or changed the two best items on their menu: the Tuna tartare and the Lobster BLT. When I was in last we were served by a brunette woman who seemed to have worked there a while who was incredibly rude and boarder line mean. I have never seen a Resturant go so downhill so fast in my life. Below is my review from a year ago: Best tuna tartare in the city and their lobster BLT is my favourite in the maritimes. The space is gorgeous and the staff is consistently kind. 10/10
Went in for dinner and it was incredible. Our waiter Sean was fantastic, he really took great care of us. Food was incredible and a definite gem in the city.
Great spot anytime of the day. Food, service and atmosphere amazing.
Server was very attentive and great with suggestions. We ordered the nachos which we were happy to find was double stacked and did not leave you with bare chips. Will be back for more!
Super chicken pot pie. I sure appreciated my meal, the service and the setting.
Papardelle is tasty and their char is very fresh too
Amazing food, super chill laid back atmosphere- perfect for my anxiety (we ate here at 7pm on a Saturday) Styles was amazing! So kind, and made sure we had everything we needed!!
Came on a very rainy monday night as most restaurants are closed on Monday. First time here despite being born and raised here. Had trouble ordering as the menu had several options I wanted to try. Ill be back for chowder, nachos, lobster roll as all have great reviews. I had the pot pie which was good. Also got bannofee? Pie for dessert which is as all reviews claim.. delicious. However it is rich and decadent and should be shared. I only ate half. Took the rest home. Service was good. I was happy and will return
Always a pleasure to be in the Arms. Great staff, service and ambience
Had a fantastic grilled char on risotto. Delicious. Food was very prompt, service was good. A good overall experience.
Great atmosphere, well presented and tasty food. Pleasant staff. Try the tuna tartar. Recommended dishes Tuna Tartare, Digby Scallops
Food was great, service was great - it felt a bit quiet when we were there, but overall lovely pub vibe..
Lovely ambience and excellent service. Bit pricy to have a meal there but it is comparable to any hotel bar in halifax. Its going for the Olde english pub vibe and is located inside the lord Nelson hotel. Small dinner menu, did not end up eating there as we wanted something less pricey. A pint of Keiths draft came to 8.00/9.00.
We were going to go to a highly rated restaurant in the area & due to the terrible rain we stayed in our hotel. We were very happy we did. From the moment our server Scotty greeted us we were more than happy with all of our decisions. Scotty was a pleasure as was the atmosphere and food and drink he recommended. As we are business owners ourselves we appreciate excellent service!! Thank you Scotty!!
Very disappointing. Ate here several times in the past. Always order fish and sweet potato fries and was a favourite restaurant. Today couldn t even chew the fish it was so tough. I tried 3 bites and had to spit all three out. Very little fish in batter and it tasted freezer burnt and microwaved prior to frying. I actually took the batter off and the fish felt rubbery. So disappointed. Will not be returning.
Food was pretty good. Had one extremely rude staff member though hence the one star. Won t be going back, that s for sure.
Food was okay at best and service was subpar for sure. They seated us at a table with so little space that I literally had to stand up and move my chair when the server was trying to get to the other table behind us. And I had to do this multiple times during my meal. Had to ask for bread twice and it never came. When questioned, the server said he was busy, when the restaurant was fairly quiet. There s absolutely no reason I d ever come back. It s really only a convenient place for the hotel guests to eat at and not for anyone else.
Great friendly staff. Great recommendations on local beer and great food. Had the Fish and chips
The food was absolutely amazing. The vibe was cool but a little cold (from the AC). The baked brie was 10/10 and we both had the pork belly and scallops 10/10. The server was fine but nothing memorable. Limited water refills and didn t ask if we wanted another beverage. Would definitely go back.
There is a bartender here that doesnt like it when you are on your phone. He will actually tell you to put your phone away. Very strange behaviour. This is a pub, not a classroom.
The scallops were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The accompanying pork belly was dry and somewhat disappointing. The atmosphere was quiet and spacious and regal. Actually, it was a wonderful setting of the stage for our subsequent entertainment- DakhaBrakha at the Cohn. Which was a pinnacle of pinnacles.
These people here are ok i like the vibes needs to improve on their opinions
Tasty scallops and ravioli. Great service.
Cor, Blimey! After a Judas Priest concert, we get to sleep in; followed by a British inspired breakfast; three words: pure comfort food. I personally had the protein bowl, and I couldnt stop saying Mmm. Spicy sausage; two fried eggs, sweet potatoes; half of a fresh avocado; just the right mix; a beautiful medley. You could also opt-in for a more traditional breakfast with a good variety available to you. So good. Id like to thank the dedicated staff for a pleasant dining experience. Cheers!
The drinks were great if you don t mind a few mice running around in the background.
Never disappoints and staff is exceptional!
Good service and nachos
Fish and chips were great and HUGE portions
Stayed at the hotel and decided to dine in after a long day on the road. Very satisfied with our choice. Service was professional and prompt; serving size is generous (not huge) and the quality meets or exceeds the price tag. I recommend it. Seafood chowder and Digby scallops were excellent.
The food was overly salty and could not be finished. Despite eating less than half the dish and complaining the dish was too salty the restaurant only discounted 25% and did not offer to attempt to remake the food or bring the menu for other options. The server forgot to bring sparkling water despite ordering this twice and when reminded the server asked if we still wanted it. Overall a disappointing experience.
Best nachos in Halifax, friendly service, and cant beat the patio on a sunny summer day.
We had a good time there. Not busy as a hotel restaurant with a small, but dynamic menu. Sooooo much history in this building and the sailcloth drapes were nice touch. Food plated nicely and full flavoured and service was brilliant. Very nice!!
Chicken sandwich had bones in it and the chicken was grey and slimy. Terrible. Staff took 50 percent off bill yet was not enough to compel interest of return.
Our first morning in halifax, we had a lovely breakfast. I had the skittle my son had the eggs Benedict. Both absolutely delicious. Clean, classy & attentive staff.
Interesting decor and ambiance but largely inattentive wait staff, only okay food that was not worth the price. Would skip next time.
We made a special trip to visit this English style pub. The only thing English is the curtains. The brisket that was apparently braised for 24 hours was dry with an inch of fat on each piece, served with an oily jus. For the money, overpriced. Please do better. The only thing good about this restaurant was the waitress, which is why I give 3 stars and not 1.
An upscale pub with more of a dining room menu. I had cod which was very good. We also enjoyed our breakfasts while staying in the hotel.
Great pub atmosphere and the food isnt bad either.
I went here because I was staying at the Lord Nelson. Great service and food, recommended.
Rooms were very spacious. We had a packed breakfast for us waiting and we needed to leave early for the ferry to Nova Scotia.
Excellent food and great service! Thanks.
I just had a weird experience at this restaurant. To be fair, my perception is based on my experience and expectation of what constitutes charcuterie. We ordered charcuterie (CAN$27) and banoffee pie (CAN$11). What we received resembled no charcuterie I have ever had. It was a graying pile of prosciutto with a log of foie gras laid over the top. Next to it was what looked to be a stick of butter (but I am sure was a type of cheese) on top of something I did not ask about but am sure it must have been another cheese. In between was two pieces of cooked asparagus. There was a jam and chutney on the side. Picture lump on one side, lump on the other with asparagus in between. When I told the server this was not what I had in mind, he expressed dismay that I might not be satisfied. So if this is what passes as charcuterie in someone else s experience, ignore my review. For those of you who expect a selection of cured meats, cheeses, nuts, fruit, chutney/honey-take a pass on this menu item. The banoffee pie, however, was AWESOME!
I ve had the halloumi dish and tuna tartar and both were quite good.
Food was great and atmosphere inviting and warming. Service was great until the end, we had a gift certificate and used that to pay the majority. The extra was covered with cash. We were promptly told what the remainder was but told that wasnt the total and we should tip on the whole amount... I almost didnt leave a tip after that comment but decided to anyway. The waiter was obviously not impressed with what was given as a tip as their demeanor changed after. Pretty much ruined the dinner. Would of been a 5/5 had they not basically told us to tip on the whole amount ( I had looked at the bill and was well aware what the before cost was) I guess even a 15 percent tip isnt appreciated these days.
Food was good but pricey for the quality. Excellent desserts.
Convenient downtown location. It is a quiet spot, and the carpet and heavy curtains give it good acoustics. Good place for focused intimate conversation, like a first date. Service was excellent. The portions are very large: I was very hungry, and four of us could not finish the monumental plate of (delicious) nachos. The calamari was ok-- I wasnt that into the semolina breading. The restaurant has a British/colonial theme so the twangy American music seemed out of place (and needed to be at half the volume).
We had the short ribs which were bland and dry as previously reviewed as well. We did not eat the food and asked for the check. The waiter, Mike took it back and instead of bringing the check, brought back those two plates of food during the pandemic. Dirty dishes brought to your table during the pandemic, yuck., and then started to pull the meat apart arguing. I wanted nothing but the check. The owner does not care about the customers. You are never right and your business is not wanted here. Please save yourself and go somewhere else. Too many nice restaurants in Halifax. Dont waste your money to be abused.
We were so happy to get out and dine again ! The food was fabulous , the service excellent and the portions and value will see us back again soon !
Breakfast menu is very insufficient.
Nice spot to meet friends and have a drink. Large food menu and even larger whisky menu.
My favourite nachos!!
Awesome service!
Great service. However, Im personally more into flavoured spiced (not hot) condiment filled food than Simone English/French food.
Great tasting food and excellent serviced
Friendly staff & great food
Ordered the striploin with mash. Easily among the top 5 steaks Ive had in my life. Served hot, deliciously buttery and marbled, perfectly seasoned and with just enough blackened califlower to amuse the pallette. Halloumi plate is also a must-try. 10/10
Wonderful food and service
No option for mushy peas or Curry sauce.. Not sure how British this place is but the rest was ok.
I went here for breakfast and found it disappointing. Still looking for that perfect brunch spot in the city.
Quality is excellent. Service is awesome. Food is very good and of decent quality. However for the price Im paying Id hope for larger portions. Id reccomend it regardless if youre looking for a nice night out.
Best nachos ever! Amazing service from Scotty(aka Ian Rankin) Always a pleasure to eat here. Never disappointed!
The drinks are alright but the food was a solid meh. The plating was quite nice but everyone found something wrong about their meal. We stayed at the hotel and didnt bother eating there again.
Great atmosphere, yummy food, excellent service, reasonable prices!
Love the breakfast. Eggs benny. Yum
Good food!
The staff were so knowledgable. The food was fantastic although I wouldnt order the calamari again.
The food was good but small portions.
Standard hotel fare, nothing really exciting or distracting.
We have been partaking in The Arms takeout specials for a couple of weeks now during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. I have to say that the complete meals they provide are a fantastic deal. The claim is that they serve four people but my wife and I get a minimum of two meals plus a fair bit left over. The multi-course meals have all been delicious and come with complete instructions for heating at home in your oven (all dishes thankfully at the same temperature). While we are looking forward to once again eating at The Arms in person, this option is a great way to bridge the time until then.
The tuna tartar, wings and pork belly tacos were fantastic. Service was exceptional and humorous. 1st time eating here but will definitely come again. Only downside are bathrooms are licated one floor up. May be difficult for mobility challenged persons however Im sure there was an elevator.
Good food an friedl
Great food for price. Room service was fast and the servings were large. Especially the nachos which could feed 3-4 people!
Fabulous nachos. Huge serving and delicious. Great service.
Font support restaurants that support illegal fisheries
love a restaurant that supports mikmaw fishers!!
I love their nachos. Awesome taste
Provided room service while staying at the Lord Nelson Hotel. Food was quick, delicious and pretty generous for the price considering its in the hotel. Fish and chips were great, very crunchy!
Wasnt the best Christmas party. Wasnt too busy and staff seemed flustered. Probably wont be back.
Charming atmosphere.
Food was really good, drinks were cold and service was plesant.
I have been coming here for almost 40 years. While it lost a bit of its coziness when they renovated a few years ago it still has nice booths you can snuggle into. The decor is British pub themed as is the menu. They have some real comfort food selections including beer-battered fish and chips or bangers and mash or a meat pie. They do the best plate of nachos in the city for sharing with layers of cheese and chips. The bar has domestic and imported beer on tap and a great collection of single malts and other premium spirits. Oh, and if you have a sweet tooth, you have to try the banoffee, a banana and toffee custard pie.
Great food.
Was a nice cozy place to have drinks with friends after the Comedy Feat. Good drink selection and good nibblies.
Expensive, but nice atmospheric, and great skein of high shelf liquor
Great place to enjoy a beer or two
Food and service very good.
Great place for a group where you can hear each other
Our server was apparently new, but clearly fantastic at her job. Best service we have had in the 10 years living here. Food was fantastic( tried the burger, pizza, creme brulee). The environment is really nice, albeit loud(like any restaurant) when full. 10/10 will return. Cant wait to try the breakfast.
Really great atmosphere in a beautiful classic building. Excellent food and attentive service. Pricing is reasonable.
Great food, excellent service. Server was new but so helpful and attentive. Will visit again!
Was served a hair in my food, the waitress brought a new plate promptly. She said they would discount the meal and only took $2.55 off a $60 breakfast. I had to sit and watch my partner eat alone and they wouldn t even comp a coffee, which is $3 each. Not worth the high price at all.
Would have loved to try the food here but we waited 20 minutes without being greeted after we were seated. We asked one of the servers if they would mind taking our order and were told yes, right away and waited another few minutes before we left.
Always a memorable meal Have stayed at the Lord Nelson many times, been here for conferences too and I always make time to have a meal at the Arms. For conferences and meetings, this is THE place to have a drink. Bar takes their job seriously. Food is also very non-pub meaning not sloppy or greasy. Had falafel dusted calamari with mango chutney this time. Service is tops, never had a bad experience here.
Id give here a 3.5 I think. Finally tried it after many years of wanting to, on a nice Tuesday morning in August at about 7:45. Greeted immediately upon entering and given a table up on the raised level on the left. Friendly service. When you enter, their buffet is on the right, wooden tables on that level, then a few steps up to more tables. Typical British pub feel, with mostly wood, high decorated ceilings, cozy/lower-lit, some old artwork and antiquey items. My friend went with the $17.99 buffet, loading up his plate with lots of bacon, home fries, an omelet made to order, tea biscuits, cheese, fruit, coffee & juice. Overall, he said it was quite standard, no complaints, but nothing memorable, as I find 90% of buffets are. I didnt want to be overly full as we had day plans, so I got the Avocado Toast ($13 one slick of thick rye, goat cheese, tomato slices, sliced boiled egg, some sprouts, and probably half of an avocados worth of slices). It was good, more cold than hot intentionally, but satisfied me exactly as much as I wanted to be and Id probably get it again. Most likely when I return here in the future Id try one of their eggs benny.
Nice place to rest a few minutes and have a nice, cool glass of wine or beer. Also, the Chicken Pot Pie is so rich and tasty. Very quaint feel.
Had my first lobster roll and chowder ever here and it was AMAZING!!!! Bar is definitely set high next time I get either one of those dish elsewhere.
The clubhouse special is to die for. Generous portions
Cool
It is perfect. Nice atmosphere and room design. The staff is friendly and helpful with advice. The Seafood Chowder is the best Ive ever eaten, the salad is fresh and full. Ill definitely come again whenever I have a chance and recommend this place to my friends
Went for dessert, it was fabulous. Great service too
Great nachos and decent beer selection
I met my future wife chiniqua Jackson here and we were divorced the next day
Excellent food, lovely staff, great drink selection.
Annual Christmas lunch was as wonderful as always.
I literally have only ever eaten the nachos here, and they are freakin awesome. Best in the city by far for portion/quality/price ratio. Theyve also got a decent selection of local brews which is a solid bonus!
Great space and service, but the food was a little pricey for what you got.
Food wasnt very good. Bland. Server was nice but not very knowledgeable
The food was very good and the service was friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable and historic. The cocktails were delicious. We went on valentines day and they had a prepared menu for the day which had delicious food. The banana, caramel, cream pie was excellent!
Not the best. I used to enjoy coming here until they changed their menu to be more traditional British. Im not sure if they succeeded, but they arent great for anyone who likes seafood or is a vegetarian. There is basically nothing on the menu now that doesnt include some kind of animal, such as duck or mutton. Or fried in fat from duck. Interesting. If you like traditional English food, you may like it a lot. The service was also slow, and not professional in my opinion. Maybe Im a traditionalist in this part, but I believe everyone at your dinner party table should be served their food at the same time. Especially if there are just three of you. Ive worked in restaurants, this isnt hard to do. I also watched the table across the room be served at completely different times too, and they were also just a small party of 3. I think everyone enjoyed their food when it arrived though. One friend had the Eggs Benedict, one the lobster BLT sandwich, and I had a veggie omelet (great).
Nice atmosphere and staff but the food is unimpressive
Excellent Seafood Chowder. Great Ambiance. Good Service
Great Service & beautiful atmosphere!
Terrible. Nice ambience so real shame
Great Nachos, great food, great service at a good price
The Arms Public House has a great atmosphere and a wonderful venue. The staff were very helpful, and had loads of personality. Our table enjoyed quite possibly the best nachos in Halifax, along with great fish and chips, and awesome french onion soup.
I had chicken salad, excellent dessert, a glass of wine and a pot of tea. This came to 43.64 including a gratuity.
Food was awful and overpriced. I got some tacos as an appetizer and they were essentially just filled with lettuce. I also had a lobster roll that was 50% mayo and fries that tasted like the same awful ones you get at a Chinese food restaurant. I would rather eat the lemon than anything actually served to me.
Awesome food in a relaxed atmosphere...the cheese board was great and the servings were from local people. The wait staff were very pleasant and professional. We would definitely recommend this location.
Absolutely amazing nachos here!
Very nice atmosphere, good food
Great food and atmosphere.
This is a hidden secret in Halifax! It has great friendly service. Good sensible food. Fair prices. Comfortable historic room. It is right beside the Public Gardens! & Spring Garden Road. You enter the hotel and you feel quality grasp you with comfort.
Nice decor, knowledgeable staff, great food & drink menu. I highly recommend it if youre in this part of town.
Very good service, great food at reasonable prices !!
Seems to be a very underrated pub. Excellent food and a small but good beer selection. Great atmosphere and location.
Snazzy spot, great grub.
Very nice staff and great service but the food (breakfast) was just OK and was very expensive. I surely did appreciate them dropping off a full carafe of coffee instead of filling my cup though.
Knowledgeable and extremely friendly staff. Nice food selection prepared your way. Highly recommended whether youre a guest at the hotel or not.
Nice hotel restaurant. Patio over looks public garden
Good food with large portions
The nachos were awesome.
Great atmosphere with reasonable prices for downtown Halifax. Solid service and good food. Bar selection is also excellent.
Great atmosphere, great food and cold Stella. This place always holds a place in our hearts as we were married on the harbour and stayed here. 4 years later popped in on a visit from Alberta and gladly nothing has changed. See you next summer
food is pretty good but the service isnt great.
The service here goes above and beyond.
Was in the area and we decided to check out this place out. They have a breakfast buffet which looked like it had been sitting there for a bit, so we opted for the menu instead. I had a eggs Benny with spinach and mushrooms and the other person I was with had the steak and eggs. Mine was good, though I was a bit disappointed that it was accompanied with generic frozen homefries, which were not very good. The other person ordered the steak and eggs, and said that the steak was lower grade and very grissly. Service and coffee were good, exept coffee tended to get a bit cold fast as it was served in a tea type cup and saucer. Nice for presentation, but not very helpful in keeping it hot. All in all, good in location, but pricy ($20/each) for the quality of food.
Our experience at the Arms Restaurant yesterday (Oct. 117) was not a good one for the first time visiting. Our order of Fish and Chips and a Club Sandwich with fries got to our table 35 minutes after ordering. Our waitress was very pleasant and apologized for the long wait. However, while my husbands fish and chips were satisfactory the club sandwich and fries for me were not. Fries were cold and the sandwich contents not tasteful. I left 3/4 of my lunch on the plate.
I really enjoy their nachos. They are great to share with some friends.
Excellent nachos. Very big. I think they use an entire block of cheese!
