The Salt Yard, 1549 Lower Water St, Halifax, NS B3J 1S2, Canada
Their half n’ half ($29 based on the market price) was the ideal way to sample two of their creations, a roll made with cold and warm lobster fillings: The chilled version, dubbed the local, was tossed with mayonnaise, celery, and chives. I found it was refreshing for a hot day and given the ingredients were less flavourful, the lobster’s sweetness was more pronounce. Yet, there’s something about the some fancy or warm version that was tastier. Who doesn’t like garlic butter with lemon and chives thrown in for freshness? It was delicious, but a tad overcooked so the lobster was chewier than the cold version. If you’re hungry, one roll will not be enough. Luckily, it comes with a quarter spear of pickle and bag of chips (they were out of coleslaw and potato salad by the early afternoon). Not necessarily filling, but enough to leave you satisfied. If you can hold off on diving into the roll, I recommend walking further down the harbourfront to find a table away from the main food area. While there was tables available in The Salt Yard, it’s also a seagull pit. Finding a clean table can be difficult and you’ll have to watch out for a wayward wing brushing close to your head. Not exactly the most relaxing way to have lunch, even if the lobster roll is good.
Dave's Lobster in Halifax is a must-visit! The lobster rolls are absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and packed with generous portions of lobster. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a perfect stop after a day of sightseeing. Unlike other seafood spots, the prices are reasonable for the quality you get. If you're a lobster lover, don't miss it! Highly recommend for anyone in the area!
Enjoyed the delicious “fancy roll” which was nice and warm with lemon and butter. Lots of seating by the harbour to eat and enjoy! A little on the pricey side for the portion size but it was a nice experience!
The food alone was very good! But it cost me over 35$ (not including tip) for a simple small roll and small bag of chip. Keep in mind this place is located in a tourist trap. BUT it tasted pretty good indeed.
Tasty lobster roll- cost was pretty comparable to other lobster rolls we tried considering it includes a side. Very convenient to stop by and try a lobster roll while strolling the harbourfront.
Yum Yum! I very much enjoyed the flavours of both sides of the half & half I think the portion was appropriate! I mean of course people are going to complain they wanted more 🦞lobster Thank you Riley & Quinn for the great service😊 And I can even have ice cream or a beaver tail! WHO DOESN’T!!🤣🤣
I ordered half and half which is basically 1/4 lb or lobster, half local and half fancy. It was good, but I was surprised with how small the serving portion for the price of 35CAD (including 15% tip). It was worth the try but if you are tight on budget, maybe look somewhere else. This is only a takeout kiosk, you don’t even get a table to sit. Anyway, it’s all for the lobster roll experience but I will not try it again.
Happy to see that they were open for the season as the website was misleading. My kid and I visited May 23, 2024. Nothing special about the service, but I ordered the half and half lobster roll and it did not disappoint. MP was $29 CAD before tax. The size was decent and there was a good amount of lobster chunks in the roll. A definite must try if in Halifax or P.E.I.
Best lobster rolls ever! Prices went up and serving size went down over last couple of years but still the best!
Our favorite lobster roll of the whole cruise
Loved it Big pieces of lobster Flavorful Great quality ! Food : 5/5 |
Soggy fried hot dog bun with very little lobster and small potatoe salad, overpriced at $34. Never again.
Food is tasty , but definitely a bite literally , for $36 with tax nah
So...much like everyone else is saying, its really good and you basically have to have a lobster roll on the wharf, but oh my is it expensive. Market price today was $36.80.
Possibly the worst and most expensive lobster roll in the Maritimes. Some over cooked plain lobster on the folded bread slice hot dog buns.. you know, the cheapest buns you can get. Over $70 for two rolls and a 20 minute wait. The owner of this establishment should be ashamed. I sincerely hope you close down. Judging by the most recent reviews, I would say your consistency is on a downward trend and my experience is on par with the average customer. Best of luck milking the tourists next season.
I got the sum fancy roll and it was
THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL IN HALIFAX!!! Comes with a bag of chips, potato salad or coleslaw! Market price was $31 when I was there in Aug 2024
People are inherently negative. The food is fantastic, the people are great, and the location is right on the harbour front.
Best Lobster roll I ve ever had!
The food wasnt bad, but definitely not worth the price. Expensive but the flavor was not there nor were the portions
Absolute rip off. We ordered 2 lobster rolls and it came to $60. We said no thanks. We are tourists but not stupid. Go to What s the Scoop? in Fosherman s Wharf and the lobster rolls are delicious and $15 each.
Delicious lobster roll with chips and a drink $36. I recommend. The lady at the counter forced herself to speak to us in French to explain the detail that we didnt understand on the menu. The atmosphere on Halifax Harbor is very pleasant.
Ive had lobster rolls many times before in Nova Scotia and Boston. I ordered the half and half with coleslaw and a pop for $31+tax and tip. Firstly, I was surprised how small the portion size was. The lobster meat barely made the hot dog bun split apart. The meat tasted alright. The coleslaw was in a tiny plastic cup and didnt have any sauce on it at all. I think thats called cabbage, not coleslaw. I was pretty disappointed in this roll compared to the many others Ive had.
The half and half lobster roll was quite good. I do have to say the price of lobster rolls especially for the size is sometimes shocking.
Got the half and half lobster roll, came with a side of chips. I know lobster is usually more of a premnium seafood but the portion sizes left me wanting more. Food tasted really good, but I wish for the price I spent on this (~$31 before tax) that I had a bigger lobster roll.
The longest wait for the worst lobster hands down.
If there were options for less than 1 star thats what they would receive. The service was slow we waited over 30mins for two rolls. And they were GARBAGE!!! I took 2 bites and threw it out. That was not lobster, imitation lobster at best. It was gritty, dry and fishy tasting. I recommend no one ever eat from there. It was absolutely disgusting
If you ve never had a lobster roll you might be satisfied- but I had high expectations. I m surprised by other high ratings. Did not begin to come close to a good lobster roll.
Ordered pretty quickly but nearly a half hour before getting the order. Food was okay, nothing really stands out to us.
They really cheap out on how much lobster they give you. Better value at every sit down restaurant near here, why bother going to a stand if you get a worse deal, no table service and no atmosphere?
The location is great super convenient. However, the food is simply just not good. The lobster roll was incredibly small and the meat was very tough. Would not recommend.
That For 35 cad??!!!!..crazy rip off!!...did not evn give cutlery for the side!.i should have decided not to order as not evn one order for them in more than 15 mins that i spent there. Waterfront was jam packed though. management is oblivious that VALUE FOR MONEY is wat brings ppl in.
First stop of my vacation was Halifax where I stayed at the waterfront. My wife is from Nova Scotia and they were charging $31MP for a shredded dried lobster on a HOT DOG BUN. I ve travelled all throughout Pictou county and Cape Breton Island and everyone has been in disbelief of this price for a few shreds of dry lobster in a hot dog bun. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Ive had lobster rolls all over, and they are generally a lot of money for a meh meal. The average place literally uses .50c hot dog buns. This place is where you go for a proper lobster roll on a proper quality bun. Being so pricey, shame on anywhere that doesnt do a lobster roll like this place. Kid-friendliness: Its the ward, lots of walking and a play area.
Service was unremarkable and there was no atmosphere to speak of, most patrons took their food and left, I was the only customer sat at the shack. Also, I went down the day before went it was raining and was put off by the lack of shelter. Personally, Id only recomend eating there in fine weather. The food itself however is supreme. I took the half and half because as much as the Somethin Fancy drew my attention, I felt I really ought to go with the more traditional Local option. Fortunately, given each roll was 29 dollars (based on Market Prices on the day), they had the option of both in one! Disclaimer: I was correct, the Somethin Fancy option is so so so good. Buy that one. Plus as an Englishmen a side of chips (crisps...) as a side with a sandwich is welcome, but really the dill pickle is best accompaniment
Good experience but very expensive!
Great lobster roll, but very pricey and the staff don t seem particularly pleased or happy to serve you. Lobster roll was about $35 with a pack of chips and no drink.
Advertised as being open on google. Not open at all. Windows boarded up
Over rated! I tried in dining in other areas and it was much better to taste and the roll was full and even cheaper with salad and fries. This one was literally empty with mostly bread. Can not believe the bad quality!!
First time here and was recommended the half and half to try both flavours - both were so good!!! Daves Lobster definitely lives up to the hype.
Genuine dockside street food. The Lobster Roll comes highly recommended. Unfortunately no sheltered seating. Reasonably market priced meals. Recommended dishes
Well we paid $76 for two lobster rolls, two bags of chips, an iced tea and a bottle of water. I assumed that the price of lobster was through the roof. But apparently it s $10/lbs from what I can gather. Food and service were good but not sure how the price was that high. Of course, I could have asked about the price ahead of time so that s on me
Been on the hunt for the best hot lobster sandwich in the city of Halifax. Today I decided to try Dave s Lobster on the waterfront. The staff were cheerful and prompt. The food was prepared in record time. Onto the food: It was a pan fried, split top hot dog bun, filled with about three big claws of warm garlic butter infused meat. To add to the finish it was spritzed with some fresh lemon squeeze. Came with a bag of chips and a cold soda pop. The price was market value so it can fluctuate. I paid 41 dollars including the 5+ dollar tip. It was good, not sure about price however considering I come from a family with lobster fishermen. Let s just say I m still on the hunt for number one in the city.
Best Lobster sandwich in the city by far! I had from many different places during my stay in Halifax and Dave s was definitely the tastiest and meatiest I had! The price is the same as everywhere else so you can t argue with it. 10/10 Lobster Roll
Good food, lobster roll, lobster grilled cheese, and a hot dog. All really good. Seemed a little pricey for what it was, but also very convenient to get good food quickly on the waterfront
Excellent lobster roll. But overpriced but youre in tourist central so its expected.
Very delicious lobster roll. Would recommend the something fancy, was much much better than the cold one. Also, those chips deserve a lot of Credit. Incredibly delicious
There was a lineup at this food stall on the boardwalk and it did not disappoint. The uber classic lobster roll is on the menu at current market prices. So expect to pay between $25-$30 if I remember correctly per lobster roll which comes with a choice of a bag of chips or the coleslaw. The lobster is quite delicious and tasty. It was very satisfying indeed. Happy Eats everyone
There was lobster. And it was rolled. Honestly amazing though, exactly the Halifax experience youre looking for. Super nice staff too!
The lobster roll was just woww!! Really tasty and really good service. Only downpoint, it is a bit expensive for a lobster roll, but thats what you got to expect in Halifax. I definitely recommend to try it out.
So, it was tasty, but shockingly small for 36 dollars with tax and tip. I d go elsewhere and hunt for a better value. I didn t think to take a picture before, but check out the tiny box it came in.
In Halifax of course you want a lobster roll and it was great all meat no fillers. Only wish pricing was little lower would have got a second one. Spent $76 for the two of us. But didnt notice any other location on the boardwalk where you just go up to a window and order, so it nice to see Daves Lobster providing these great meals. Nice picnic area around the corner with lots of tables and chairs looking over the water.
Absolutely fantastic! Super fresh, juicy lobster and it was flavoured perfectly. Skip everywhere else and go to Daves Thanks for the reco Liv!
Its a bit more expensive than the prices I saw at some other places, but I liked the lobster roll. It was served on a warm fresh bun and wasnt pre-made so I could get rid of the celery and chives, which I dont like.
Most of the menu is based on the market value of lobster that day because almost everything contains lobster. You dont get as much meat in the lobster roll as other places, but these guys dont drown it in mayo. Butter, garlic, lobster, chives. Simple is best. The flavour is excellent. The bread isnt anything special, but still crispy and golden. Long wait, but they do them in batches. So you could either be waiting for 10 minutes, or get it almost right away. They serve Canadian chips which is a nice touch. Support local!
Really good lobster roll, recommend the half and half. Market price at the time was $29 per roll, no markup for a gluten free roll. Recommend the half and half!
Delicious lobster roll, but the wait was quite long. They offered Canadian chips as well, which were great. I would definitely go back.
Definitely overhyped ! Really disappointed after reading and watching so much about it. $33+ (29 plus taxes) for such a small roll was super upsetting. It came with 2 packets of chips Spent $66+ for 2 rolls but it was just a snacks, we had to go to another joint for lunch. Taste is good but the size is a big issue. One time experience is ok but definitely not worth the money.
Rude attendant at the front; went elsewhere.
I mean its not bad but there is nothing to get excited about..very average. Bought 4 lobster rolls (3 fancy with garlic butter and 2 local). Taste was average at most. Lobster felt dry and my tongue was looking for that garlic butter but never to be found. Market price was 29$+tx per roll that day so my total was well above 130$+. I expected more for that price
Its a food shack so no points for atmosphere but the lobster roll was excellent. The best weve had in the Maritimes on this trip.
It s expensive for a lobster roll to take away with a bag of chips You might as well go to a restaurant a little further away and get a real plate with lobster + fries for the same price.
Over 30 minute wait for a groomed cheese
These were our first lobster rolls in the maritimes and we were underwhelmed. The lobster was a bit over cooked but the dressing made up for it. We were served by a guy who didnt seem happy to be there and having to include a tip felt awkward. Food
I was very happy with my lobster roll. I ordered the half and half. I like the Connecticut style better but both were good. Lots of lobster meat. The server was friendly.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free option Food
It s a shack on the Boardwalk of the Halifax Harbour. The Lobster Roll was loaded with lobster no complaints be aware that it closes by 7:00pm
We were on a search for the perfect Lobster Roll and this place did not disappoint. The fancy lobster roll is everything!!! It was perfectly executed. Highly recommend!! Food
Excellent Lobster Roll in a definite tourist area catering to the cruise ships.
Visiting Halifax for a week and have tried lobster rolls in various places. The lobster roll at Dave s was terrible, overcooked lobster for 29 CAD not worth it. Had the lobster roll at The Canteen last night, same price and honestly a 100 times better. Avoid Dave s this place is honestly not worth it.
Lobster still tasted fresh but it was just expensive for what it was and Chips were stale for someone in my party.
Great location Loved the local lobster roll. Delicious!
Amazing lobster roll, coleslaw could use some work. Pricey.
Say open on Internet but I went there and it was closed. Disapointed.
Outside looks great but theyre not open for the season yet.
Ordered a classic lobster roll and a hot dog. Roll was exactly what I wanted when visiting Halifax - fresh lobster with celery, green onion, and mayo. Excellent street food and worth the wait
Bought the large fancy with just the butter and it was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it loaded with big chunks!
Sea food was similar to any of their neighbouring competitors, except your hungrier here because it takes 35 min to get food. There were no fries available which should ve sped up the process. I cant imagine what its like normally. After sale staff ignore customers, there were about 5 in my time waiting. Only inform you of the 25+ minute wait after you purchase.
So delicious! We ordered the bigger fancy and the bigger half & half. The portion was nice. Price was to be expected for amount of lobster we received. If we are ever back in Halifax, we will visit Dave s! (I didn t get chives that s why it s missing from the photo)
Really great lobster roll!! Absolutely loved it!!!
Awesome staffs and great place! Good food too!
Very good lobster roll one of the best Depending at what time you re going it can be long (25min)
Oysters were wonderful various types
Cute little shop, but the lobster roll is pricy for the size of the roll, as well as it s only a take out
Delicious and full of meat!
Great taste with plenty of lobster meat in the sandwich. I believe to to be an acceptable price in our current market, knowing I was charge 45$ for less at a restaurant down the street. Would get it again when I come back!
Cute little spot if your into the eat on the fly or waterfront kind of deal. Definitely places close that offer much more but if you want quick and easy. There it is
Great
Great food and service
Really great fresh seafood! The staff was awesome my server was great!
I have to say this is the go to place for a melt in your mouth lobster roll, price is average I would say as lobster is not cheap, plus you truly get what you pay for at this little place on the harbour, they also include a free bag of chips, which is a nice touch. I will go back on future visits to Halifax in the summer. My only regret was not taking a picture as I could not wait to dive in to what in my opinion was the BEST lobster roll I ve ever had. How could you go wrong with a lobster roll that has chunks of claw meat in it. The wait time is normal I feel, as they are made to order & its only a small building on the harbour & it was very busy the day I was there. I had the half fancy & half regular lobster roll, both halves were melt in your mouth delicious, however the fancier half was above & beyond to die for delicious. Dave s Lobster, has a life long fan in me. Keep up the great work. I can hardly wait till next summer, as I will be stopping by during my travels in Halifax, when I go see my niece Sally.
Good lobster. I have had better. Extremely overpriced. Wonderful atmosphere right by the harbour. I love downtown Halifax.
absolutely blown away by the Lobster rolls and the level of Customer service that Dave offers. He is a man of his word. To me its all about how you fix an issue when it comes up. I had an issue - and it was fixed promptly and very much to my satisfaction. Thanks Dave
Expensive, but its a touristy spot so its an experience youre paying for! The rolls are delicious and you get to eat them while enjoying the view (we saw a dolphin). Covered bridge chips & a pickle come with your order.
Although other reviews say they had to wait a while for their lobster roll, I got it relatively fast. I got the half and half, it was $29 plus tax and came with a bag of chips. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the price and value. Understand that lobster is expensive but the rolls at Tom s Lobster Shack in Peggy s Cove was very delicious and slightly cheaper in price ($26 I believe that time) and a bit bigger with fresh made chips and other delicious drinks and sides. That being said, there was a generous amount of lobster meat but the roll could be improved
Great food.
I ve been dying to try Dave s Lobsters infamous Lobster Rolls! I ordered the Fancy Roll and it didn t disappoint! Sooo delicious! Although it was pricey ($35 for the roll, small bag of chips and a can of soda) It was def worth it! Can t wait to come back again! Dave s is located right in the Harbour. Super fun little spot with lots of sight seeing + tourists
Lobster roll market price was $29 - what to expect when lobsters are not in season. I would say the roll is a light lunch - tasted fresh and the bun was perfect. The employee at the front desk was very nice and only waited five minutes.
Great lobster roll and friendly staff. Price was reasonable considering current price of lobster. Were on a cruise and paid $30 USD a few days ago for a lobster roll in Bar Harbor that wasnt half as good.
It was closed didnt stop
Went when market price was $29. Got 2 lobster rolls. Bread was amazing (worth a mention) and the lobster was delicious. Didn t wait too long and only recommendation is that the portion was a little bigger.
Fresh rolls, perfectly braised lobster. Reasonably priced. Melts in your mouth 1st, 2nd and 3rd bite
Had a half and half lobster roll. Probably one of the most expensive lobster rolls I had, and on the small side but very very good flavours. Slightly higher prices are to be expected in this area. Service was friendly.
Tasty lobster. Great location. A bit expensive for what you get
The lobster roll is delicious and I understand the $29 is tourist price which is acceptable. They charged $6 for tip which I find ridiculous as there is no service rendered for a take out. Must as well go to some restaurants along the wharf. I fully understand there is Government tax and will not be mixed up with tips. Government tax is not an issue here. I was given a white terminal to swipe my card. I do not have an option on whether to give the 20% tip. The input is definitely not from me. Someone else must have did it before my tapping of credit card.
Had the local and half/half. Enjoyed them both - good sized portion of lobster - tasty - expensive yes, but reflects todays market cost. If youre visiting Halifax, you will enjoy the board walk and one meal you should have is a lobster roll at Daves.
The food is good. But price is too high. You can get the same lobster rolls around $26 in a restaurant.
Its like a seafood house
Highly recommend the half and half, then order what you liked better the next time you re there!
Store said it was open I went twice on 2 different days while I was there on vacation I really wanted to try their food but they were closed maybe next time I go they will be open
We went here to try the lobster roll as it has so many good reviews on google. And we were not disappointed! THE BEST lobster roll we had while in the Maritimes! Mackenzie was friendly and pleasant to talk to. Highly recommended in downtown Halifax!
I wish they had a restaurant where we could dine in and not just have it in summers at waterfront. Really miss having it in the winters.
Was so delicious definitely worth checking out
The lobster rolls here are good if you order well. The key element here is to order the so called fancy one. You should also go for the larger sizes to get the best meat to bun ratio and also bang for your buck. I would say the rolls are at the same level as a place like the bicycle thief and similarly priced. Keep in mind Daves is essentially a take out shack.
Worth the stop by.
This review is from my mother who I purchased the sandwich for. We ordered the local small size that was $21 and with tax and a tip was $28. She was very disappointed there was only three small little claws and the rest was mostly the meat that comes out of the leg of the lobster. She said it didnt even taste like lobster. PS only three people in line and it took 25 minutes for the lobster Roll sandwich. She hadnt had lobster in five years and was so looking forward to it. Sad...
Regular size lobster roll was great. Daves is a great stop. First time visiting them.
Had a Bigger Classic style lobster roll. Loved it!
Best lobster roll Ive ever had!
Delicious. Has the traditional lobster roll and partner had the half and half. Both were excellent. Great tables on the waterfront to eat your feast. Only wish there was a way to have a beer with our lunch!
Closed on Tuesday!
Went twice this week during open hours while visiting and it wasn t open. Both google and their website state that they are open. Update your hours Dave!
Visited NS and hands down the best lobster rolls. The buns are actual English hot dog buns which are fluffy, tender and perfectly toasted. They offer a hot and cold version of lobster meat that is different from traditional cold lobster rolls. My family kept wanting to come back here for more! Their grilled cheese is also really good! Definitely the ultimate lobster roll and trust us, we tried A LOT. Not sure why the reviews are only average should be much higher.
BEST lobster roll Ive EVER had !!!!!!!
The roll with some fancy was amazing!
Yum
The tiny roll fit in my palm and lobster tasted grainy and stale. I was very disappointed but for what its worth, the butter and pickle made it more palatable. More of a snack than a meal.
May 11th and the place is still closed. Nothing posted no days/hours of operation. Yet, the sun is out and tons of people going by, eating at the other vendors that are open. Someone mentioned that their overhead costs are too high because they only serve lobster. Therefore being open early in the season isnt worth the $$. I didnt realize May 11th is still early in the season. One big FAIL and overpriced.
Over priced, and underwhelming. The lobster had a bad texture and was no where near as good as the one I got here last year. Inconsistent.
Overpriced and really small serving.
VERY SMALL, VERY EXPENSIVE
Over priced, tiny lobster roll that had very little sauce.
over priced, long wait times, not great customer service. Would not recommend
Truly the finest place on the East Coast to get a lobster roll. High quality food, delicious options and a wonderful staff. I routinely come back for lunch and recommend to my friends and family frequently! If you are a fan of lobster this is a must-visit location. HIGHLY recommend The Local!
Mouth watering dishes, a must place to visit
Overpriced and didnt taste so nice. Ive definitely had much better.
So I had a Lobster Roll in Luneburg, Digby and then in Halifax at Daves Lobster Hands down Daves was the best by far. So good we had it twice within 24 hours actual 16 hours..lol Lunenburg restaurant served it on a non toasted bun and it was just chunks of lobster in mayo. Digby was better then Lunenburg with more flavour in the mayo. But Daves was at a whole different level. The first time we went the have the mayo version and the butter and garlic version. After experiencing the first 2 mayo lobster rolls I was reluctant to try it again but the best part about Daves is that they make a Half and Half lobster roll which I did. The mayo half was so tasty and delicious BUT the butter garlic side was out of this world and nice and warm and OH I forgot to mention they butter and toast the bun on both sides. I have to say the half and half option was great to allow those confused which to get to try both without having to buy 2 separate ones. The next day we went back and got the full butter and garlic LR. Oh man it was soooooooo Goooood. I know a lot of people complain about the cost and I hated it too but this review is for the food itself. The cost is a bit much but since I was on vacation I tried to not make it bother me as much as it normally would. It is located amongst the water front shops so I can see why it cost so much. It is the touristy area of all touristy areas and once there you know how the pricing increases. We saw a lobster key chain at the Halifax waterfront shop double the price for the same one we purchased else where. Oh yeah you do.get a bag of chips with the LR..lol Besides the price you have to try Daves lobster roll.
It is the best lobster roll I ate so far.
Great place to get a lobster roll. Lots of lobster meat and fair tourist prices. I recommend this as a place to grab decent food while strolling through Boardwalk.
Small roll and way overpriced for what you get. Not a big eater at all and it didnt come close to filling.
Daves Lobster was the best lobster roll I had while on vacation in Nova Scotia! And I had several lobster rolls. They even had the option to actually choose how much lobster meat you get in your roll. We obviously ordered the largest and were not disappointed. It was delicious and substantial.
Big portions of lobster, well worth the price. Both the local and some fancy versions are delicious. Even their hot dogs are good! We got lobster rolls and hot dogs from here 3 days in a row!
Got the bigger size fancy. With tax it was $27 and pretty small and underwhelming :(
Yummy lobster roll.
Lobster Roll was superb! I was a 1st customer, when kiosk opened at 10:56am. A bun was toasted to perfect crisp, was filled with delicious, perfectly cooked lobster and chives. Not greasy and 3 slices of tasty pickles + bag of chips. Waaaaay better than Lobster dinner at Murphy s
Expensive for what you get. Checkout Evans Fresh Seafoods for a better experience and value at Alderney landing in Dartmouth (take ferry to Alderney 2.50 one way)
This is a sad situation. Im standing here with 10 people, all fuming. One woman just lost her mind, after waiting 30 minutes. There is no line, but somehow its taking over 30 minutes to make a lobster roll. I cant rate the quality of the roll (hopefully great!), but I can say this is one of the worst run operations Ive visited in some time. I cant recommend visiting.
Best lobster roll in Halifax!! Was definitely worth the price since lobster is so expensive! Staff was amazing!
great lobster rolls and location!
The some fancy is one of the better lobster rolls I ve had. Not a huge portion and it was a tad slow, but the flavour! So tasty.
Came to Halifax and really wanted to try a lobster roll. Reading online, this was a recommended place and was surprised about the poor rating. The roll was okay. 4 oz of lobster, a claw Not sure what happens to the tail. The bottom is all shredded lobster meat. Good texture, I was just surprised this was 25 bucks with tax. They dont even have the slaw anymore. Sadly, would not recommend it at this price point. Many lobster dinners could be had for the price.
I had the lobster grilled cheese at Dave s, and enjoyed it! It was a nice little snack, but pretty small to be $17 after tax. Good amount of cheese + lobster inside though, and came with a bag of covered bridge chips. Seems to be a nice little boardwalk place, I came on a Tuesday afternoon so it wasn t busy and the service was quick.
I enjoyed my lobster roll but in retrospect it is wayyy overpriced for what you get.
Came here over the summer, and honestly had one of the best lobster rolls Ive ever had. However ended up paying close to $60 for two rolls and 2 bottles of water for my boyfriend and I. Slightly on the pricier side, considering my cousin picked up about 6 full lobsters for around $100 a few days later. All things considered, its very delicious. Another thing to add to my list when Im in Nova Scotia visiting family.
Lobster roll was good. Really relaxed kiosk and staff.
The lobster roll was good. The value, not so much. The menu states every roll comes with a pickle, I didnt get one. The coleslaw, which was actually just shredded cabbage with no dressing whatsoever, came in a 1 tablespoon portion. So unless you opt for the chips, youre basically paying $21 for the roll, which is a lot more than you will pay for lobster rolls of comparable or greater size and quality elsewhere.
This place is a pathetic piece of garbage that will steal your money and give you a small mediocre version in return. 25 $ for a hot dog bun full of lobster. Absolutely outrageous.
Lobster was terrible and smelled. $21 for a hotdog size roll and a quarter of a pickle. Less than impressed.
55$ For 2 ridiculously small lobster roll. What a catch. very disapointed
$21 for a lobster roll from a kiosk?? While sit down restaurants are offering it for $19 or less?!? PAAASSSSS
Very small portions for the price. I got the Some Fancy lobster roll and it was supposed to come with chives and it didnt. Wouldnt recommend.
Best lobster rolls in Halifax make sure you get the fancy
The lobster roll comes with large chunks of lobster with chunks of celery for added crunch. A little pricey for the for the size.
Expect only claw/knuckle meat from the lobsters. Wayyyyy to over priced for what you get. Id recommend the other seafood place just across from them.
very nice food. lot of lobster inside.
The food was amazing...the staff another story. I love lobster but not when the staff stinks of weed and is rude. Might not be a food critic but I would recommend a pass on this place
Cute little shack on the water in Halifax. Had to wait awhile in the line, but service was friendly when we placed our order. We ordered the local lobster roll, it was really good and had lots of flavour.
