Water Polo Restaurant is located steps away from the Ocean on Halifax’s bustling Waterfront, where you can enjoy elegant, yet approachable takes on classic seafood dishes Inspired by the timeless design of the handcrafted Riva Boat, Water Polo features a vibrant dining room, complete with the renowned open-arm hospitality that Nova Scotia has come to know and love from The Bertossi Group
My recent visit to Water Polo Restaurant at the waterfront was nothing short of spectacular. The desserts were to die for, each bite a heavenly experience. The sushi was excellent, fresh and flavorful, truly a treat for the taste buds. The service was magnificent, with attentive and friendly staff who made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was gastronomical, a perfect blend of flavors and presentation. Overall, the experience was fabulous. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to indulge in a memorable dining experience!
Amazing experience!! Everything was just on point. Shout out to Rori, she was very patient and very polite, funny and helpful. The food and the drinks was delicious. Me and my wife came to celebrate her birthday and we enjoyed so much! Already recommended to people and definitely coming back!!
The atmosphere was nice. Compared to "Ristorante a mano", you could have a conversation with the person infront of you and hear them comfortably. It was a vibrant atmosphere. The staff was excellent. They were very friendly and listened carefully to things. Only great comments to the staff. The mocktails were nice but not very creative. Tasted good, but would've liked a bit more creativity. Food review: Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio - 8/10: It tasted really fresh! It kind of melts in your mouth. The mix of the caviar with the olive oil and the "crème fraîche" gave it a nice blend of flavour. Crab & Lobster Croquettes - 5/10: You don't taste either Crab or Lobster. It did have flavour, not a bad one either. Definitely could taste the lime and cilantro more than anything else. Salmon Wellington - 3/10: Again, you don't taste the salmon at all. All you can really taste is the puff pastry itself. They could've not put the salmon in there and it would've tasted the same. The "red wine gastrique" had no flavour as well. Presentation was nice, but that's about it. Rack of Lamb - 2/10: This was probably the worst lamb i've had in a restaurant. It had no sear on it. It was EXTREMELY sour. I don't mean just extra salt. I meant extremely sour where you close your eyes with each bite. The spinach tasted sour. The lamb itself felt mediocre, maybe missing some seasoning. The "merguez jus" was sour sour sour!! Chocolate Caramel tart - 8/10: This was very delicious. Personal preference is reduce the caramel and increase the chocolate. Again, personal preference. It was really good! Tiramisu Semifreddo - 2/10: it tasted like i got a ice cream from Haagen Dazs. No real tiramisu flavour. Presentation was really nice, but I wouldn't call it tiramisu. Maybe espresso icecream? Latte & Americano - 10/10: Surprisingly, this was the best thing we ordered the whole night. The latte and the americano were excellent. Good way to end the experience for sure. As excited as I was to try this place out. It was disappointing. I wouldn't go back for dinner. To pay $54 for that lamb dish, I expected ALOT more in terms of flavour. The salmon wellington is fixable...reduce the puff pastry, and show the salmon more. The tiramisu? I would just change that dish to a regular tiramisu. So I wouldn't pay $200+ again there. Maybe $40-$50 max? To the bertosso group: I would still put ristorante a mano & bycicle thief above waterpolo by a whole scale! Hopefully we get to see some improvements!! Goodluck :)
It's my birthday dinner, and I want to say that the service is five stars. However, the food does not justify the prices on the menu. I have two pieces of feedback. First, both the fried squid and the steak sauce were extremely salty. When I mentioned this to the manager, he joked that it was a "salty night," but he kindly removed those dishes from the bill, which I appreciate. Additionally, the AAA steak was prepared twice and still did not meet my request for medium doneness. Lastly, iWatch consistently alerts me to noises.
Coming from Toronto, I can say this was the best chicken dish I've ever had! I don't eat seafood, so I had limited choices on what to take. I decided to go for their chicken, and it was delicious! I also had a bubblegum drink, which I believe it was called "forbidden pleasure" 🤣. Their menu titles for cocktail drinks are very clever and enjoyable to read LOL. Overall, very good food and the staff are friendly. I would come back here for the chicken.
Food was delicious! The sirloin was better than most steakhouses I’ve been to, and the potato pavé was amazing. Really good amount of vegetables on the plate, too. Lobster crown pasta was very rich and creamy but lobster flavour was very mild. Truffle frites were great, as were all 3 desserts we tried. Espresso martini was one of the best I’ve had! Restaurant itself is very beautiful inside. Seating was comfortable, but we had a table for 4. The 2-seater tables looked very small. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. Attentive at the start but then got very busy which led to long wait times towards the end of our meal. My only real complaint is that it is very loud in there when the restaurant is full. It was hard to hear the other people at my table at times and I felt like I had to talk quite loudly. Overall, a really nice experience but I will only return for special occasions as it is quite pricey.
Water Polo provided us with a refreshing “yacht-inspired” atmosphere with its open, airy design. The food is exceptional, with each dish surpassing expectations. Service is top-notch, our waiter Oliver provided attentive and personable recommendations throughout our meal. I will recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to treat themselves in Halifax.
Exactly what Halifax needed! This place takes seafood and freshness to a whole new level. Our server, Adam, was incredibly knowledgeable and made excellent menu recommendations. For a restaurant that's only been open a week, it truly blew my expectations out of the water. I highly recommend trying the raw menu and all three salads—the flavors are phenomenal. The Wagyu was absolutely immaculate. The decor and finishings make you feel like you're on a private luxury cruise. Absolutely a 10/10 experience!
We booked a reservation at Water Polo to celebrate Christmas with our friends. The restaurant is stunning with a beautiful architecture, lighting, and spectacular views of the Halifax waterfront. The meal was exceptional with everything cooked to perfection,. Our server was warm and attentive with a great sense of humour. The manager came to say hello, which I always love. We will definitely be returning and will be recommending this restaurant to all our foodie friends.
Went twice, first time was not a great experience. Service was slow, my meal was cold and salty. Second time the chit with my app was missed, once I brought that to their attention they put in another and comped it which was nice, only the dish was very subpar. My main was AMAZING, I had the Octopus Casarecce 10/10 highly recommend that dish. The rest of my company had the Miso Black Cod the Lobster Mac& Cheese, both were enjoyed. The truffle fries were uninteresting, lacking flavour and cold by the time they got to the table. They also have a really nice atmosphere. All in all, I wouldnt be back.. Ive had more bad dishes than good and the service was a bit frustrating. Im grateful for the managers who understood my frustration and made amends, particularly after my first visit wish was pretty close to terrible - second visit was much better but overall still lacking.
This is a must go restaurant. With impeccable service, food and atmosphere. One of the best meals that I have had in the past years.
What a fabulous way to impress out of town business clients. What an experience. Thank you! Food : 5/5
One of the finest restaurants in Halifax.
Havent had a bad meal yet!
Very nice staff , great food and drink. Very bright and lovely environment. Reasonable price.
Great service! They make sure you enjoy your meal. I will definitely return. The steak and SERVICE is 100% better then the Barrington steak house. Our server Trinity went above and beond.
Stirloin steak was served cool, wasn t worth the $50 I pad for it. The octopus pasta my wife had was great however.
What an amazing place. Food, drinks and service was top notch. Everything we ate was phenomenal. Talk about going out of the way too, the tiramisu was sold but the waiter went over to the sister restaurant to grab one - WOW! The tiramisu was amazing too. Highly recommend
The Lobster and Mushroom Mac & Cheese is phenomenal! My husband love his lobster Bisque and I thoroughly enjoyed my Atlantic lobster bun! Food
Atmosphere is great. Fun and trendy. The service staff were wonderful. The food is just fair at the best. At this price point there are other places that deliver better quality. No hurry to return but I would give it another chance, maybe. Has a feel of a big volume place, which I guess it is due to size. Food just not there.
Awesome place, great food, very kind and professional staff. I tried Octopus pasta, it was delicious and other fish dishes were also good. Non alcohol is nice too,I asked it less sugary so it was goid harmony with the food. I definitely visit more.
Our anniversary dinner turned into a frustrating and disappointing night. We expected a lot from this place, considering the prices and its reputation, but unfortunately, it was a letdown from the start. We informed the restaurant in advance about our anniversary, and while the host acknowledged this at check-in, we were immediately led to an overflow area instead of the main dining room. When we asked to move, we were told it would be a long wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar hardly the way to handle a special occasion. Our server, although sweet, was unfamiliar with both the dinner and cocktail menus and couldnt provide a whiskey menu upon request. She mentioned she works the bar and could only name two whiskey brands offhand. For a high-end restaurant, a well-informed staff is a basic expectation, especially when youre paying top dollar. The food was no better. We ordered a scallop main dish as an appetizer and asked how many scallops came in the dish, given the $44 price tag. We were told 6 to 7, depending on weight what arrived were 4 scallops, sliced in half to appear more generous. This felt deceptive, especially for an overpriced and underwhelming dish. For our main course, we shared a steak, but over a third of it was pure fat, with cold potatoes and asparagus that tasted like theyd been plated far too early. Finally, to top off the lack of effort, the restaurant didn t even acknowledge our anniversary with a simple happy anniversary greeting or plate message something you d expect at a high-end restaurant. Ultimately, it felt like we were overcharged for a mediocre meal and inattentive service. Definitely not a restaurant we d recommend for special occasions or worth the high prices.
Amazing food, forgettable cocktails, the service was very good, but I personally did not lose my mind for their cocktail, I was expecting more taking in consideration the price. I recommend their Beef Tartare and their Scallop Ceviche. In my personal opinion, the tables were too close to eachother, very loud inside. Despite of that, I would definitely go back.
What a special meal! We had phenomenal service and the food was artfully prepared. The subtle flavour combinations were noteworthy. We ordered the Humboldt squid (to die for), cured Salmon, Hamachi crudo, scallop ceviche and one other crudo. The scallops were perfection! Definitely worth a visit if you havent been.
Extremely WoW !
A very nice new spot in Halifax waterfront. Excellent service. The food is great with a wide variety of mostly seafood of course but there are other items if you are not a fan. I took the Bluefin tuna carpaccio and it was 10/10, the Crab wedge salad and it was 9/10 just because I would preferred more crab and a little bit less lettuce, the main was Pouched Halibut which was amazing away from a paste on the top that I preferred to remove it. Very soft and very juicy and tasty. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: I don t know the name of the dish, but it looks like a medium steak at the end.
Wow. We were reading the other reviews for Water Polo and thought that there were an awful lot of 1, 2 and 3 star ratings. Surely a new restaurant from the Bertossi Group would never receive 1, 2 or 3 stars even in the first weeks of opening. Well... we are sorry to report that Water Polo has a long way to go before it can make the other restaurants in this pedigree stable proud. We had 5 different dishes. All were underwhelming for various reasons ranging from preparation to ill paired ingredients. The menu reads well but it stop there. The highlight of the evening was the mignonette for the oysters. Maybe give the restaurant more time to settle in before giving it a try. But if the ratings stay as they are I would take that as a sign that it has not improved and spend my evening in another Halifax restaurant.
Beautiful restaurant on the Halifax waterfront. Wonderful atmosphere with friendly staff. The menu is pricey but the food was exceptional. The scallops are a must have!
Sleek spot for seafood-focused dishes. Personal favorites were the Salmon Wellington (so so good), the East Coast Scallops, and the Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio. Oh, and the lobster oil with bread is really nice. As for dessert, I really had a soft spot for the Pot De Crème with the infused earl grey.
We were four people, we enjoyed our three courses meals and our dessert very much. All the food was made professionally and cooked very well and the flavour was really good. The menu was as a good variety. My drink was golden age and be honest, I would give it six out of 10. we got serviced by multiple people which caused some confusion to us so I will give seven out of 10 for service as they were not the best friendly service. The atmosphere the building is very nice and new but the decoration of the restaurant was not lounging and a lot of distractions around and that good lighting area I highly recommend the place and I wanna go back to try it again and definitely will make improvements as they are a good company. Note: the restaurant treated us with a dessert for one of our birthdays, without telling them about that. They just knew that from the app reservation and it was a really good experience. We were happy after all.
Recently here for a work function, staff were fantastic very attentive and friendly. Place was very clean and had a great layout. The food was all good, some very unique flavours seafood all very fresh. Vegetarian options: Yes Parking: It s a bit of a walk, you park down the road and walk the waterfront up. No direct parking.
Stellar meal, outstanding service, and incredible atmosphere .will be back!
Lobster crown!!!!
Got the nova Scotia seafood tower. Everything was fresh and tasty. Lobster bisque was very flavourful and had a juicy lobster claw. Cocktails were next level. Very creative and balanced.
One of the most lovely meals I ve had during our travels. The drinks, the food, the dessert and the service all outstanding. Highly recommend.
Good food, great ambience and service. Located right by the water. Impressed with the efficiency given this establishment has not been open long. I recommend the salmon Wellington (pretty unique and the pastry was spot on).
Visited Water Polo with wife and friends on a Tuesday night. New restaurant with great atmosphere and it was hopping. Service was excellent, as was the food. Heavily seafood weighted, everyone enjoyed their meals. Great start given only four weeks old.
So we re from England and have dinned in the Ritz and the Savoy back home this restaurant is right up there with service and food Thanks for making our trip so special Becky and Steve ( England ) Also our server Tonie made us feel so welcome and nothing was to much trouble Also it was nice to meet the proprietor very welcoming hope to visit Halifax again xx
Loved the vibe.
Incredible food. Hit mostly the raw bar. Would go back again for some mains. The server was knowledgeable and tentative. Would recommend the hamachi crudo
I m skeptical of this trend of new overpriced restaurants on the Halifax waterfront but Water Polo was actually much better than expected. Our server was incredible. Lots of staff who really made the experience from the ladies greeting us at the door, our waitress, and the staff who brought over our food/cleared the table. As well, our experience did not feel rushed (I find places like Bar Sofia can feel rushed) and also was not too slow. The perfect mix. We were welcomed to stay as long as we would like to chat after our meal even though the restaurant was busy. We all agreed cocktails and appetizers were incredible. I got the Yosuke to drink (so good, refreshing and unique flavours), and our waitress suggested a nice dry red that I had with dinner. We had a number of apps from the raw bar my favourite was the scallop ceviche by far but others thought the Hamachi crudo was the winner (I found the hamachi didn t have clean flavour which was disapponting). I had the anglotti pasta for my main and the flavour was great and honestly I would recommend but it did seem like it was sitting out a little longer than acceptable and this impacted the dish - dry on top. Dessert was also good I got the cheesecake. Overall service was awesome. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the experience. Did think the food prep/delivery could do with some improvement but it s hard to hit freshness perfect each time in such a large busy restaurant. Hopefully this improves with time. I will be back in the future.
Fresh fish and chips with friendly smiling service.
Overall 3/5 We had high hopes and were disappointed. But considering they are still in the early stages, I m hoping for some improvement. We were also there two weeks ago idk they might ve already improved. Decor 4.5/5 definitely have a fair amount of distance between tables comparing to most restaurants at the waterfront. I would say the dinner lighting could be slightly brighter. Service 5/5 our server was excellent! They also seemed very well staffed. The service didn t slack even when the restaurant got full. Drinks 5/5 unique, well blended and tasty. Food 2/5 I could be expecting too much considering the location. But as a regular of the Black Sheep, the Highwayman and Edna. I feel like there are other better alternatives around town when it comes to food. The meal started with Japanese milk bread, lobster oil and balsamic vinegar. It was amazing especially in contrast to what followed. (You can buy the lobster oil at Pane e Circo) Appetizers - One thing they all had in common? Lack of flavour We ordered three appetizers: the scallops, the regular beef tartare and the tuna carpaccio. The scallops were fresh, maybe the intention was to appreciate its natural flavour? The tartare was completely dominated by the potatoes, couldn t taste the beef. The beef on its own was boring and lack of flavour. The tuna carpaccio - maybe the intention was to appreciated its texture. Entrées - seems like this station is where the salt went We ordered the scallops and the market fish. The scallops were pretty good, although the sauce definitely could use a bit less salt. We all felt it was too salty after a couple of bites and stopped putting it on the scallops. The fish - the skin still had scales on it. The flavour was a revelation! It had depth but again, became too salty after a few bites in. Desserts - saved the day We ordered the tiramisu, the cheesecake and the pot de crème. The tiramisu saved the day! It was unique and delicious. One thing we all felt puzzled about was that, each of the components was outstanding on its own, but when combined it became kind of plain. The cheesecake - too much lavender syrup, tasted like dish soap, sent it back to the kitchen. Pot de crème - I love a good London fog. Towards the end of our meal seemed every other table ordered mussels. I m not certain if it s because of how they were prepared. But they were stinky, I think I can tell when shellfish has gone bad. We basically rushed out of the restaurant afterwards. Again, I understand most people probably come here for business dinners where the quality of the food probably isn t important. But even within the confines of waterfront restaurants, there are better alternatives with a view.
If you are looking for Sophisticated dinning on the waterfront, this is the spot to be. Phenomenal service, great food with an Impeccable atmosphere. I will definitely be putting this restaurant in my list of to dos! Amazing!
Actually a 4.5 star. Party of four, two business clients on a Thursday night. Just three (or four weeks) after opening in the new Cunard building on the water front. Akin to Bicycle Thief in terms of size. They have a side corporate room with a planned out door bar+seatinng for next season (I assume). Was pretty full hence the 3 star for atmosphere, quite noisy. Friendly and attentive service. Normally when I heard we were to have another seafood place I was ho-hum about the idea, especially with such an extensive raw bar. But no longer. We had three raw with wonderful sauces and each was great! It is fine dining we you get new flavours to enjoy. Mains and cocktails also great. Only weak bit was the lobster bisque, too much saffron for our taste which overshadowed the lobster. Plus the in-house lobster oil was a nice touch and ate well but it came across as a bit fishy to the nose. Overall pricey but it is fine dining. I would go back just for the raw bar!
Lunch with gem salad, Hampshire crudo and fried squid. All excellent. Would return to try more.
Welcomed warmly into the restaurant. We were told they had the best table ready for us. Turned out to be located at the entrance to the washrooms and kitchen lol. The restaurant s yacht themed interior is very luxurious. We had the lobster, mussels, scallops, and the trombe alla vodka pasta. All were FANTASTIC (pasta was very spicy to diner s taste but that s a preference thing). Service was rushed and utilitarian, drinks not refreshed throughout the entire meal, despite our entrees being served by what appeared to be the dining room manager. Understanding the restaurant is new we hope the service can come to align with the outstanding food quality in the future.
Exquisite would be an understatement. We wandered past this wonderful place around 4:00 and decided to eat here. What an excellent decision. We were fortunate enough to be seated with Colton, and I can t believe how fortunate we were, to be seated with him! Colton is a server here, yes. But he is also an amazing encyclopedia of knowledge. A soon-to-be sommelier, Colton was a wealth of knowledge. We shared with him how we like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, and he suggested a Sancerre they have. We ordered a bottle and loved every sip of it. When we return home and purchase this wine, it will be because of Colton, and we will remember him, fondly, anytime we drink it. The oysters, along with their house made habanero sauce, French 75 sauce with shallots and horseradish were divine. Also don t miss their house made lobster-infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar for their bread. Incredible! My husband ordered the poke bowl and loved it. I ordered the lobster crown, and tried to savor every single bite. Best lobster pasta dish I have ever tasted. This place is fabulous, the location is so dreamy, but the staff and food make it truly memorable and quite magical. I would come back to Nova Scotia just to eat here! Please don t miss this place. It s absolutely fantastic.
The ladies at the door were sweet, food was good, the location was great, but our server was rude, and didn t provide a proper service at all (Tayler). He completely ignored our table after the food was brought, we had yo ask other servers for anything we needed. It took him a long time to bring our bill ( he brought it after we asked another server to bring it!). One would expect a restaurant of this class train/ hire better servers!
One of the best meals in a while! Exceptional flavours and left comfortably full
The space is gorgeous and service was really great, our waitress paid good attention to us and checked in often; and the drinks were amazing.. but the food really fell flat for us. We didnt order much just oysters, the lobster crown and the hamachi crudo; the hamachi crudo was pretty good, but the oysters werent very fresh and tasted off, and the lobster crown was super greasy it just wasnt appetizing at all. I want to go back and try other food but for now the food didnt leave a great impression on me especially for the cost
What a lovely experience! The menu is excellent and offers some dishes that are different than the usual. The atmosphere is very cruise-ship-like, and has been decorated beautifully. The staff are super attentive and friendly, making for an overall pleasant vibe. I can t wait to go back and try some more of the menu items that didn t make the cut today!
Enjoyed very much my 3 evenings at Water Polo. Service was excellent and food very good. Plan to go back!
Weird cafeteria/diner bar vibe. Most of the tables are tiny round coffee shop style tables that dont have enough room for drinks, bottles, and plates, plus the staff was slow clearing empty plates. The appetizers were brought out barely after the oysters were. Right out, no room on the table. entrees was mediocre, would not have the salmon wellington again. Worst crime is they serve red wine chilled in a cold glass. Water Polo is my first bad dining experience in Halifax. There are a ton actual great restaurants in Halifax. Go to Cafe Chianti next door or Bicycle Thief for a real wine and seafood experience Parking: Underground parking plus street parking
My family and I had a wonderful time! The food was amazing, and we will definitely be back!
The Bertossi Group does it again. Their latest waterfront restaurant has the same fine dining quality as aMano and The Bicycle Thief, with a fresh menu and unique vibe. A large place that will likely be noisy when crowded, it has a good view of the waterfront, I ll want to go back and check out their patio. But what brings us back to The Bertossi Group is their allergy accommodation. Easily able to accommodate gluten-free and soy allergies. Dietary restrictions: Able to accommodate gluten-free and soy allergy.
Stepping into this restaurant feels like you ve chartered a yacht and views make it feel like you re making a stop in the Halifax Harbour before continuing on to your next destination. We went opening night and it was flawless, from a complimentary cocktail to the seafood tower (best oysters I ve had in the city with an equally spicy and delicious hot sauce), to the fried squid - which was incredibly tender. The mains are out of this world, I the poached halibut melts in your mouth, the miso black cod is beautifully rich with a fresh cucumber salad and the Salmon Wellington is an absolute must-try. If nothing else, order the Salmon Wellington. Cannot wait to go back!! Wheelchair accessibility: Wide open automated doors, no stairs, plenty of booth seats to accommodate wheelchairs
Great addition to the Halifax dining scene. Beautiful atmosphere, great food, and personable service. The food and drinks were all great. Can t wait to return once they finish ironing out some of the service kinks from being newly-opened.
I had the opportunity to eat at Water Polo last Friday as part of their soft opening. The design and décor of the restaurant is amazing. A number of the staff on the floor, behind the bar and in the kitchen are veterans from other restaurants within the Bertossi Group (i.e. the Bicycle Thief) and it shows in the quality of the food and the service as both were excellent that evening. A friend and I shared the Nova Scotian Seafood Tower. I also had the Snow Crab Wedge Salad and Miso Black Cod and my friend had the Baby Gem Salad and the 6 oz. AAA Tenderloin. All the food was well presented and delicious. I am looking forward to returning to try some of the other items on the menu. Halifax was in need of a new, high quality, seafood forward restaurant. We now have one !
Amazing atmosphere and food. Thank you Tyler for the wonderful service! Food
The food and the service were great. We had the beef tartare and the lobster mafalda and everything tasted amazing. Shoutout to our server Tyler who made experience phenomenal.
Loved it! The food was fresh, delicious, and bursting with flavor especially the dessert. The hostess was incredibly friendly, and the ambiance was both elegant and welcoming. We left with great vibes and will definitely be back with more friends!
Food was excellent. Place looks great and service is top notch. Halibut was best I ve ever had. And we had desert pistachio and hazelnut ice cream
The Place is nice , food is good. Wonderful view of ocean, high ceiling and bright lights over all worth the time and money. Moreover, personally I know new restaurant water polo and The bicycle thief own by same group of people. But Personally I am leaning more towards to the bicycle thief because I prefer little shades and dark , the fountain noise in centre, birds noise on tree and flowers pots amazing.
Great experience. This is a brand new restaurant; its very very busy so be patient, its well worth the wait. We got a little bit of everything, the big stand outs were the scallop ceviche and the HALIBUT, GET THE HALIBUT! I will say I was looking forward to the cod but it was super over-salted with the sauce and the fish probably sat on the marinade for too long. All in all, it was an amazing experience!
We had the opportunity to have dinner here on the second night of being open. The atmosphere, staff, food were all amazing.
Gorgeous restaurant and a total blast!
great experience with unique food and staff. the atmosphere is fancy and the staff were super friendly. we specifically loved out waiter, Oliver. He recommended their best option according to our taste.
What a delight!! This is such a special place to have here in Halifax! From the moment of entering the sliding glass doors, you can feel the magic of this place. The food was insanely delicious! I will be back!!!
We had an amazing night this weekend. We had a very sexy appetizer - the Nova Scotian .. it was well presented . Our server Tyler was adorable . He gave good recommendations and did not disappoint. He was always available and answered our questions. He knew the menu and was helpful.
We had an amazing night at Waterpolo last night. When you walk in, the ambience is stunning. It s vibrant, exciting and classy. Sam at the at the front reception was so sweet. Hakans kindly offered us some bubbly while we waited for our table. The wait was not long. We were taken care of by Tyler for the evening and he made our night even better. Great recommendations and very attentive. There is a good selection of drinks, and wine. We had the Nova Scotian Tower and the presentation was exquisite. The scallops ceviche was delightful and the oysters on point. I enjoyed the sauces that were offered. The colossal shrimps and lobster was very fresh and perfectly prepared. We had the blue fin tuna( my fave) the scallops, and lobster pasta. There was nothing we ordered , that disappointed us. We did end up sharing the tiramisu dessert . It was Lovely. And enough for sharing. The combo of food and service made it a night. Thanks Tyler for taking care of us. Can t wait to see you salsa dancing
Thanks for a wonderful evening Will be back Nice decor, bright on the water Have a wonderful meal and enjoy a nice walk along Halifax waterfront
Tried Waterpolo Restaurant last night. The service was fantastic, but the food was subpar. The bread came with lobster oil with a few drops of balsamic. I would ve preferred olive oil with balsamic because it had a very fishy taste. The beef tartare was good as a starter. The halibut was quite small and because it was poached, it lacked flavor for the most part. Yuzu cheesecake was ok, but I preferred the slice I bought at Antoinette s the previous night. I was glad to be seated closer to the entrance as it was extremely loud in the midsection. Total with tip for 2 was $316 (included 1 bottle of wine, one dessert, one starter and 2 mains and 2 cocktails.) Hoping food will get better as it s only been open a few weeks. I love the other Bertossi establishments so maybe it just needs time.
Sadly the worst experience I have ever had. From trying to find it no signage, too younge and inexperienced and slow slow service. Waited 20 minutes to get a drink order. Had to ask if we can order food. Food want great at all and there were so many staff standing around you, it was awkward. I told them I would not be back. And I rarely complain about businesses on review.
The location, atmosphere, and food were exceptional It was a fine dining experience, with each dish crafted like a signature piece by the chef, both in taste and presentation. This will undoubtedly become one of the top spots in Halifax. Congratulations to everyone involved in this remarkable effort!
One of the best places to eat in Halifax! The staff is lovely (especially our waitress, Trinity) and very accommodating to special dietary needs. The food was delicious and I highly recommend the miso eggplant. Overall a great experience!
I usually dont come on here as I am not tech savvy although my husband and I came into Waterpolo and had the worst experience. From food (overpriced) to cocktails to service. Poor staff seem over worked as well Hoping it will improve in due time
Simply one of the best pasta I ve ever had !!!
Great new Halifax waterfront seafood restaurant. Good food, friendly professional service, and super decor. Meticulously plated food, attentive service, crisp and inviting yacht inspired, elegant decor with high ceilings (navy and high gloss wood). The space is vast, and theres ample room at the bar to pop in solo or with friends. We had the scallops, lobster (pasta crown), parmesan frites, and broccolini. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. Bravo.
I recently dined at Water Polo and it quickly became one of my favorite spots. The environment is welcoming and comfortable, perfect for both a casual meal or a special night out. The food is consistently delicious, with every dish prepared to perfection. The service is outstanding, with one particular waitress going above and beyond to ensure our experience was memorable. (I wish I asked for her name)She was attentive, friendly, and truly added a personal touch to our evening. I also appreciate how bright and airy the restaurant is inside, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Highly recommend!
First time visiting this restaurant but I ll definitely be back!! Our server Brendan was absolutely amazing and the food was spectacular. I d recommend the lamb pasta and the potato truffle pasta. Great atmosphere as well!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Water Polo. The ceviche was to die for. The three of us loved every bite of the several dishes that we shared. Trinity was our server and she was completely attentive, cheerful, witty and efficient. We felt very well taken care of. We will definitely be back.
Nice new place on the waterfront. Food appearance was nice but flavours were meh. The drinks are over priced. $9 / 12oz beer?
Bertossi Group does it again! The vibe and design of this place is spectacular. Food was even better. Incredible detail and ingredients without going over the top. The Agnolotti is one of the top pastas I ve had and the chocolate cake/tort was perfection. Don t even get me started on the Cod .
This restaurant is something very fresh, new and amazing! Everything about it is on high level. Impressive attention to details! At the beginning of my lunch complementary buns with lobster oil and balsamic vinegar were served. For appetisers I have tried beef tartare and cured salmon. Everything was exceptional! One thing I would change is potatoes in beef tartare, as it is overpowering beef. I ordered Cod for my main course. Combination of flavours surprised form a first bite. Fish was melting in my mouth. Very tender and perfectly cooked. Astonishing atmosphere and overall experience. Will be coming back more and more!
We went on opening nite. This restaurant is another winner from the same owners of the Bicycle Thief. The care and attention that Hakan and his partners and staff show is the best in the city. We will come back often!!
Food was fantastic, we had oysters, beef tartar and scallops/short rib for mains. Service was also fantastic. Ambience is beautiful, like a luxury yacht. We were at a round table for 2 it was way too small. We were also really close to our neighbouring diners so it wasn t intimate at all.
