Service was quick and pleasant, food was spiced well and authentic, very filling, and worth every penny. They had beautiful decor and music playing and our server was efficient yet kind. Would highly recommend!

Some of the best food i ve had while living in Halifax! Amazing service, Zeliha was nothing but accommodating, the food was so fresh, and the servings were proportional and super flavourful. Will definitely be back again, recommend the moussaka. Thank you for a great dinner.

Great restaurant, I love lamb so much and this restaurant satisfies me! The rice has a refreshing fragrance, and I dont want to waste a grain of rice. The salad is also very good. Really loved it. The service and food were great, I will go again.

We ordered 2 lamb chops and seafood kebab for lunch, however the food is not so tasty as described by people whom i knw that ate in here, also for 3 people they gave us a small table which is quite disappointing. I guess it will be my first and last for this resto.

I ordered a chicken kebab 26$ can of coke 3$ and extra feta 3$ on the side salad plus tip came to roughly 40$. There was no problem with the food other than the portions being small and a hefty price.

Always the best. A consistent favourite of mine for years. I always go for the Lamb. It s perfect, every time. Each appetizer I ve tried is unique and incredible. I recommend the red pepper pure from the cold plates. I can t say enough good things about this place. A gem in Halifax that shouldn t be missed.

I ve only ordered takeout before so this review only applies to that. But, I have ordered the kofta wrap 2x, and it was delicious! However, I recommend ordering extra sauce as it was kinda dry. The second time I ordered it was also kinda light on the meat compared to the second one. Not sure if it was just an off day though. However it s a delicious wrap and I recommend.

The food at Efes is excellent. The house salads are fresh and delicious and all the dishes are well prepared. Highly recommended and excellent value for your money with very generous portions.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!, being a Chef ( see Chef Garrin on FB, Instagram, YouTube ), I have a slightly higher and different expectation for food quality when dining out. Well this place blew me away with quality, service and cleanliness... the owners, both warm, kind and proud, are 100% hands-on invested ( which in my opinion are always the best establishments to dine ). Turgay heads the back of house while Zeliha covers the front. Our dishes arrived at our table hot, well plated with deep deep flavors, ALL of the grilled meats were juicy and very tender, the rice was fluffy and super flavorful... I do highly recommend upgrading to the beet salad for just a few $ when ordering your main course... this salad really took me by surprise. The desserts also worth mentioning too, you can see and taste the love that goes into them. Give EFES a visit ASAP, I think youll enjoy it ALOT.

Efes is a very cozy quiet little restaurant (or at least it was quiet the weeknight we went which was nice). The food was very affordable and the lentil soup is yummy. And the Turkish tea too! Definitely hope to go again and try some of the other interesting-sounding dishes on the menu.

Tasty dishes, friendly atmosphere

Had a wonderful dinner here with my daughter last night. Servers were so lovely, the atmosphere very beautiful and cozy, and the food was delicious. We had Chicken kebab with rice and Turkish salad, and finished with baklava. Lots of Turkish tea. So good. I look forward to returning!

Great food and environment

We ordered the kebab with salad and rice. The rice was so salty that we returned it twice. The third time that the rice was presented to us, it was so insipid and I mentioned it to our young man who apologized but did nothing about it. I will not be going back

One of my favourite restaurants in Halifax. For lunch I alternate between the chicken wrap and lamb shish wrap. Dinner is either the yogurt kebab or Halep kebab. I m never ever disappointed.

Excellent food and excellent service. Would be five stars if not for the way the waiter addressed me and my wife the whole time we were there. Were clearly gender ambiguous adults but the service called us girls girlies and even girly girls. It was embarrassing to endure. Less gendered language would be awesome. Salad was delicious though.

Without a doubt the best Baklava Ive ever had. It was amazing. The mains and started were good too. The servers were friendly and would seek answers to questions from the chef/manager. We wanted to go back just for Baklava the next night but they were closed by the time we got there. Will definitely visit again when in Halifax; even if only for the Baklava. Vegetarian options: Good range of appetizers for veggies as with most Turkish/Med places.

Hands down the best Turkish restaurant in HRM. It is so fresh, clean and healthy and you can tell they take pride in preparing it.

We were immediately greeted and steated by a very pleasant waiter, we were seated with menus and water and given some time to review the menu. We opted to start with an order of falafel, I opted for the kofte kebap while my fiance chose the chicken. The falafel starter was phenomenal, easily the best falafel Ive ever had, nice crisp on the outside while still very moist and flavorful on the inside. It was served with a delightful dipping sauce, hummus and fresh, grilled pita. The entrees were equally impressive. Both the kofte lamb and the chicken were perfectly grilled, moist and flavorful. The side of sehriye rice was delicious and perfectly portioned. We didnt have room for desert but we will definitely be back to try the Turkish coffee and the baklava! We encountered three different staff members during our visit and all of them exhibited that typical middle eastern hospitality and kindness. The atmosphere is great, with beautiful Turkish style music and decor.

What beautiful food! So flavorful and wonderfully prepared. Our table ordered 4 different dishes and all were absolutely delicious. Service was great and our appetizers were as delicious as the mains. Can t recommend enough!

Delicious food, good service.

I cannot praise this place enough. Their food is always delicious - there is never an off day. Today I visited with 11 of my coworkers to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was packed and they still managed to get all of our food out at the same time. Everything was cooked perfectly, and they even allowed us to bring our own birthday cake. They hid the cake in the kitchen until we were ready for it. Once we were ready, they played a birthday song over the speakers and brought it out with the candles lit. My entire group was extremely impressed with the food and the quality of service. I highly recommend visiting!

Shared the yogurt chicken, and a haloumi cheese wrap. The chicken was incredible, well charred on the outside, and sauce was delish! Wrap wasnt my favourite but not what I ordered so it was never going to be my first choice :) Got a patio seat on a rare sunny day, plus there was lots of parking available nearby

Delicious food!

Unbelievably delicious and impeccable service. I popped in here for lunch with my 11 month old baby. The servers were so kind and helpful with her! They kept checking in and even carried my stroller down the stairs. The food was incredible too. I used to live in Germany and had a lot of Turkish friends who I would cook with. This was like having amazingly fresh home cooked Turkish food. Go here. You won t be disappointed. I will definitely be back and will be bringing out of town guests here too!

We ordered shish kebab and lamb chops.. shish kebab was tough to chew but lamb chops was tender.. both kebabs were also oily.. and the portion of rice was less.. we had to order extra bread..ayran was not ayran, almost a yoghurt. overall the food was expensive. Atmosphere was good and the service was also good.

Little gem of a restaurant for some awesome Turkish grilled food

Everything in the restaurant was fine but shortly before we got there we got a text that our reservation was cancelled . The staff did not do this so if you get a similar message ignore.

Third visit and I absolutely love it here. The food is great i especially enjoy the halloumi wrap. The service is great they are very friendly and attentive and this visit I had left my bag behind with my wallet,phone and keys and the server went out of their way to run it to me as I was walking away from the restaurant and I so appreciated it as it would of put a damper on my evening for sure. I work nearby and was looking for a clean lunch, stumbled on this place and boy am I ever happy I did! I got the spicy chicken wrap, it was a total flavour bomb to say the least. The ground chicken was seasoned to perfection and juicy, fresh veggies for a bit of crunch and rolled up nice and tight so it didn t fall apart. It also came with a delightful tomato relish side sauce for dipping. I will be eating in and bringing friends next time!

Excellent meal, absolutely delicious. I got the meze platter and the lamb kebab. Both were flavourful and good portion sizes. I would love to come back.

I ordered lamb chops and I got lamb chops with a cup of rise and small bowl of salad. A bit underwhelming as there was not much attempt to make them look exciting. They also decided Gratuity on my behalf on the bill which didn t feel right. Was an ok experience.

Ive been eating at Efes since it first opened, and Im always looking forward to my next visit. The owners (both originally from Turkey) have created a relaxed and genial atmosphere in their restaurant, but, as always, its the food that makes all the difference, and Efes never disappoints. A sure sign of a truly excellent restaurant is its consistency from dish to dish and visit to visit, and by that measure, Efes excels. At Efes the very high standard of care the chefs put into their food is evident on every visit. Not once, and Ive eaten there numerous times, has even one dish slipped in quality or taste. Fortunately, my job brings me close by Efes, so its become my go-to place for lunch or supper on days that Im at work. If you havent tried Efes yet, I have no doubt that youll be very pleased when you do.

This is a real hidden treasure of good food and amazing service. Always tasty with a varied menu

It is authentic Turkish restaurant very nice and warm ambience and décor, which make you feel you are in Istanbul. Great place for lunch with coworkers or dinner with friends or family. The menu has great variety of grilled kebabs and wraps in addition to nice selection of wines. This restaurant make you feel warm Turkish Mediterranean hospitality. I went with coworkers there for lunch and we had for a starters: delicious gluten free kiymali, which is warm hummus with spicy minced lamb, shrimp guvech cooked in eggplant tomato sauce, and halloumi grilled slices of Turkish goat cheese. For the main course we had delicious seafood kebab, kofte kebab and yogurt kebab with bottle of nice Villa San Martino Pinot Grigio. The prices are very reasonable for the great quality food. For desert we had Turkish coffee with yammy baklava. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who likes Mediterranean food. We are planning to come back with the team again and try other items on the menu.

I got really interested in Turkish cuisine after seeing a few Turkish TV series on Netflix, and let me tell you, this restaurant will transport you across the lands to experience the delicious foods of Turkey! Whether youre a meat lover or a vegetarian, there is something for everyone there too. Highly recommended!

A great experience all around! We all immensely enjoy our food every time we re at Efes. Great food, a cozy atmosphere (we particularly love the chandeliers) and friendly servers. Would recommend trying the mutabbel or yogurt kebap and they have awesome dolma (much better than the sour ones you ll find at fast food spots around town). Go, have fun and eat way too much!

I ve been in Canada for 8 months now as a exchange student. I ve missed Turkish food so much that saying just I missed it wouldn t be enough describing. I came to Halifax in a school trip all the way from New Brunswick and I went here with my other Turkish student friends while we had free time. Everything we ordered was incredible. The mezes, the soup, the kebab were all great. The sutlac was very good as well. Thank you so much for everything.

Take out experience lovely. From the little things to the big things. Little things like a wonderful white rice and the fact that they grill the pita they give you for the kabob. Big things like on point flavors and perfectly cooked kabob. We had grilled haloumi, a falafel wrap, and the halep kabob. All were exceptional.

Absolutely delicious! Im visiting Halifax for the first time and this was my first proper meal after the hell of the airport. Im so glad we came here! I had a falafel wrap with salad and my partner and I shared fries. The fries were the best Ive had in recent memory (crispy, light, perfectly salted), and the falafel and salad had a lovely tang to them. Were only here for the week, but well definitely be back before we leave! Also, our server was super nice!

I am Turkish myself, and my work collegues and me who were wisiting Halifax for a conference of a week discovered Efes Meze since it was close by to our acommodation, the Dalhousie University Dorms. Each time we went, we loved the taste, the drinks and the service so much. The food, prepared by a real Turkish chef, is absolutely authentic. There is all one could ask for, from small portion mezes for sharing to main plates with meat (defenitely suggest to Yoghurt Kebap, it was delicious). And the owners and servers are just so attentative and kind. Presentation of the dishes was also with a lot of love for detail. Loved the lentil soup too! Finish up eith some Turkish Tea or coffee.

Orders were incorrect. Wrong food came twice. Many items on menu unavailable, which we discovered after ordering numerous times. Service was slow. Bill was incorrect, needed to be amended twice.

We were looking forward to this as it was recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a frustrating and disappointing experience. multiple items were unavailable from the drink and the food menu to the point of absurdity. To boot, after we altered our orders many times to accommodate, they brought the wrong food and finally messed up our bill. The owner appeared oblivious. Ps. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to negatively review a restaurant.

Very friendly staff serving up authentic Turkish food. I went with a Turkish person and they offered to make traditional food that was not on the menu which is cool. Not very many options for vegetarians. The vegetarian platter was delicious but the serving size didn t reflect the price.

Was recommended this place and all the reviews seemed great so I was shocked by my visit. The food itself was good, aside from the (regular) coffee which was quite bad. Very expensive ($23 for small amount of rice and salad with 3 small pieces of chicken) and not large enough portions. The service was not good, seemed irritated to have to serve us. No plant based options labeled despite having the option in the menu legend which was confusing. Was told I could only get plant based rice if I ordered a large. No refills offered despite supposedly having free coffee refills. Plates taken away before wed said whether or not we were finished. Wont be returning. Dietary restrictions: Very unwilling to accommodate plant based diets.

I had dinner at this restaurant last night and the service was exceptional, and the food was excellent. The staff and chef were very friendly and accommodating. The value for money was outstanding, in fact, I have eaten here many times and each experience is the same (5 stars). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys traditional Turkish cuisine. I believe that this restaurant is a hidden gem and one of the absolute best restaurants Halifax has to offer. Cannot wait to go back.

I highly recommend Efes Turkish Cuisine. We started ordering takeout during the pandemic and haven t stopped! The food is always delicious and the customer service is great.

My friend and I both had wraps (chicken and falafel) with a side of fries. Falafel was cripsy and warm and the fries were out of this world!... 12$ and with tax and tip was $15.87. Support local businesses - specially a place like this where the food is fresh and delicious!

The staff were as excellent as the food. We all agreed that this was one of the best places to eat in Halifax! Good turkish food but a bit overpriced

Top notch! What a great place. Surrounding are beautiful with large mural paintings of Halifax. The husband and wife that run Efes are friendly and above all the food was great. We didnt order appetizers but she brought over some fresh bread and hummus because we just had to try it. She was right! The salad was unique and extraordinary. The lamb chops delicious and chicken kabobs were tender and perfectly spiced. Rice... Well best Ive ever tasted. When I enquired about the spice in the dipping sauce she gave me a bit of Turkish red spice to take home. Will come back next time we are in town.

I went here on Tuesday last week with a friend for a quick lunch. The food was absolutely to die for, cooked and season perfectly. The wait staff was top notch. It s hard to find both great service and delicious food in one place nowadays! Would highly recommend and will certainly be back!

A very good restaurant with rich flavour food. There were many options, and the food was really good. The food wasnt hot (spicy), but it had spices for great taste. Portion was also very good and filling. Meter street parking is available on both sides of the street, and its free after 6:00 pm and weekend.

Cafe Istanbul used to be one of my favourite haunts when I would come to the HRM years ago. We decided last night, while on a short trip, to have dinner there only to realize it has been taken under new ownership several years ago. I have to say, I believe my beloved little cafe has only gotten better!! We orders the dinner for two which included a mixed plate of appetizers (chefs choice), mixed lamb and chicken kabobs served over rice and a baclava and Turkish tea or coffee for dessert for $65. The food was heaven; absolutely to die for flavour. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Part of the appetizer plate included a sample of a carrot dip. I don t know what the chef did to make a carrot taste like that but I have a feeling I m going to be throughly discounted by all other carrot dishes I taste. Nothing will compare to that. Since I have never liked lamb, in spite of trying it many different ways, many different times and at many different places, the owner offered (I didn t ask), to make me an all chicken option. It was delicious! Even the rice tasted amazing! I will also tell you that after sampling some of my partners lamb, I now LOVE lamb as long as Efes prepares it! My partner follows a keto diet. He had no plan to eat the baklava when it came. Then he decided just a small bite . Needless to say, he s no longer in ketosis this morning! Again, I don t know what they do to their baklava but it was the best we ve eaten! This little gem, and it is a gem, had amazing service that was kind and friendly. Our meal was perfectly paced and the portions were plentiful. I ll have a full lunch of leftovers today. They are passionate about sharing their love of Turkish cuisine and that was evident. We will most certainly return when we visit the HRM!

My absolute favourite spot in Halifax. Food is fresh - for a menu that relies heavily on tomatoes, herbs, cucumber, onion, etc, the salads and sides are always wonderfully fresh. Simple and appropriate presentation. You feel equally comfortable walking into the small intimate atmosphere in a suit or slacks and tshirt. Staff make awesome recommendations, know the menu well, and are incredibly friendly. Grilled halloumi is a must! Along with the falafel wrap

Convenient place to have lunch. Good food and presentation. Three stars instead of four though: We were seated near the door (last two visits). Each time it opened, the menus would fly and the food got cold rapidly (-8 outside today). Though I made a reservation, we were told that this was the ONLY table for 3 people. Last time there were two of us and we got same table. Both times, we ate with our coats on. I didnt even want to reach for my phone and take pictures of the food because it was so cold.
