Neighbourhood bar with great cocktails.
My review is closer to a 4.5/5 but Google doesn't allow that. I ordered 3 apps and 3 entrees with my group and I enjoyed everything except for the bouillabaisse. I paid $42 for it and it had 0 flavour. It was a big waste of money and I barely touched it throughout the dinner. The highlights were the duck liver parfait which was amazing and the limited time item the lobster pasta. Cocktails are a little bit more expensive than other places we've been to. Overall, Bon Temps is French food done really well, but at a premium price.
Went for Mother's Day for the first time and was blown away! The seasonal pasta was absolutely delicious. Fresh vegetables, amazing flavours! The burrata cheese on top was heavenly. My mom ordered the trout dish and was so impressed! We also got the charcuterie board which they omitted the meat for us upon request and gave us a stunning array of cheese, fruit and dips. The complimentary salad we received so good too. Staff were so down to earth and informative about the menu. Perfect date night spot/special occasion! 🥂
had such a wonderful time at bon temps last weekend. cute and cozy spot, love the atmosphere. would be great for a date night. speaking of a date night- ladies - one of the bathrooms (there are two) has a great full length selfie mirror (bathroom is gold black and eggplant, dress accordingly). now onto the food. i eat at a lot of french restaurants and this was most definitely the best pate i’ve ever had. topped with a blueberry compote, the pate was served at the perfect temperature, for both flavour and spreadability. the bread served with it was warm, light, buttery, and perfection. the grainy mustard and pickled onions added great flavour and acidity when building the scrumptious little toasty. the french onion soup had great depth, the layering of bread and cheese did not mess around, was a large portion, and the serving bowl complete with lions heads was just darling. the frog legs were perfectly cooked, covered in a buffalo-esque sauce and served with blue cheese. perfect for someone trying frog legs for the first time, but personally i would have enjoyed a more sophisticated flavour. pasta primavera was rich and buttery in flavour, yet was a light sauce. served with a large mozzarella ball on top if you’re into that kind of thing, we found it was great without. this pasta is seasonal. the only thing that really disappointed was the bread basket. the bread was toasted ever so slightly and served with cold butter. i know- french restaurants love their cold butter. but the bread wasn’t nearly hot enough for it to be warranted. and the bread itself wasn’t incredible. totally fine, tasty, but maybe not worth the calories. i also took off a point off because the plates had finger smudges on them which is a bummer for presentation and photos. i had a non alcoholic espresso martini- it hit the spot. was missing something but im certain that the thing i was missing was the vodka! :’) overall, i want to drive back to hamilton right now to have more pate. definitely recommend.
I had a very high expectation for Bon Temps with its 4.8 stars rating, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Upon arrival, I could notice the ventilation was not great here. The smell of smoke from the kitchen was just too strong to ignore even I was just at the door. The cleanliness was also not very great at the table I was sitting at. The appetizers are just ok, a bit underseasoned for both dish and nothing spectacular. The entrée are not bad but the size of braised beef was a bit too tiny. Long waittime for the food too. I would say all the things we had are decent but they are nowhere worthing this 4.8 stars rating.
One of my best restaurant experiences of all time, honestly. Wandered in with three friends after being disappointed by another nearby restaurant, discovered it was happy hour and all got 10$ New York sours! We split a few different dishes and everything was delicious — the butternut squash sage pappardelle was especially life-changing (it was the daily pasta).
Date spot alert! Lovely place, amazing food and great service. I went there a few months ago during their Date Night day. They had a special menu and I loved every bit of what I had. The Black Cod and the Pasta were absolutely spectacular. We got red wine recommended by the server which was a great pairing with our meal. The place has a very tranquil environment with dim lights, old school seating and good music selection. In my opinion it’s perfect for small intimate scenes or dates. One of the best parts was the live kitchen, we could smell every aroma and enjoy it throughout the meal and also have a great time seeing the delish food cooked fresh for us. If you’re looking for a cute date spot in Hamilton this is definitely it. The place has enough seating both indoors and outdoors but I would recommend reserving a table before hand especially for the Date Night event as that made our experience more seamless and enjoyable. Overall, It has a very intimate vibe and lots of charm, plus it’s absolutely during the evening. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a meal with great character and delicious flavours! Clearly very impressive ❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant. The ambiance was delightful, service impeccable, and most dishes were exquisite. We quite enjoyed the frogs legs plus our main courses However, the brussel sprouts fell short, lacking flavor and tasting a bit off, preventing a perfect five-star rating. Overall, a wonderful culinary journey with just a minor hiccup. The boys didn't charge for the sprouts and I'd definitely recommend.
The restaurant is pretty small and dark. The waitress was very nice and attentive though. We finally tried frog legs, which we couldn’t get twice in Chicago. The menu is pretty limited but anyone can find something for themselves here. The main dishes are really good, and the portions are manageable. The fish here is absolutely amazing, very fresh. Their alcoholic drinks are pretty good too.
Good drinks. Great staff. Perfect place to go and have a drink, make friends.
Great vibe, great food, great music. Awesome time.
Best wing deal in town on a Thursday night.
When this place was Bon Temps, I left what mightve been my best review of anywhere Ive ever eaten. Bon Temps was, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Hamilton. Maybe the best restaurant in all of Ontario. Handsome Daves is run by the same people, and the service is still good but damn. Theyve taken a place that genuinely punched above its weight in French cuisine and turned it into the sort of mediocre sports drive bar with coors lite, chintzy portions of bar snacks, and sports on TV that youll find in abundance in every Canadian town. Daves is a fine place to have a beer but it is now indistinguishable from any of the other bars in the area. RIP Bon Temps.
Food was excellent and atmosphere was welcoming
This place is awesome and the atmosphere is great and he IS handsome!!!
Friendly, neighborhood bar. Cant ask for much better
Great place for a pint
If I could rate this place 10 stars, I would. We have been going to bon temps for many dinners and special occasions. The atmosphere, food, and drinks are all amazing. Phenomenal service. Recently we went back for dinner for a special occasion where the restaurant was closed. I emailed the restaurant to let them know their website was outdated. The owner invited back and once again, we had an absolutely amazing time. Cannot wait to return. This restaurant is a must go. We cannot wait to see what they have in store for the future!!!
Its really good times for our 5 year anniversary! Thank you Bon Temps!
Bon Temps (in my opinion) is an average restaurant which presents itself as a fine dining establishment. My below average rating reflects the lack of value for the price. The steak I ordered was very small (4 oz perhaps?) and certainly did not warrant the $42 price tag. Small portions at high prices may be acceptable at restaurants featuring outstanding and/or unique fare; but its hard to justify with what I felt were average dishes. Very pleasant atmosphere; service was prompt and personable. But these positives werent enough to offset the lack of value.
The food was REALLY good, this restaurant makes you full in a good way The duck confit, duck burger and bouillabaisse are excellent, the staff are super nice! 5 stars
Very friendly place and top French cuisine. Well done!! The service is at the same level as the cuisine
Visiting Buffalo NY from FL and decided to venture over the border! Found this gem of a place on google with great ratings! Bon Temps did not disappoint. The food was to die for! The staff were so nice and had great recommendations! My boyfriend has the duck burger and I had the seasonal pasta! We came right when their summer menu came out! If you re looking for some modern French food with a twist this is the place for you!
Very good food, friendly service
Such a delicious meal and cocktails!
Very tasty mussels and fried frog legs. In the background there is nice music with hits of classic rock.
The frog legs were flavorful but rather small. The duck breast was perfectly cooked, and the zucchini purée was extremely delicious. My wife had the braised beef and really enjoyed it. The price was reasonable.
Great place that makes you feel like in Europe ! Food is super tasty ! Cocktails also superb ! Better book a table if you plan to visit this place. patte is fantastic ! Food : 5/5 |
Those are not chefs. They are magicians, their food was magical. My girlfriend and I loved it, the bartender/waitress was super nice and the atmosphere was really cozy and warm. Highly recommend
Thumbs up for Bon Temps. We had PEI oysters, duck parfait, clams in white wine sauce and the bouillabaisse. Food was well prepared. Small restaurant with great food.
Bon temp managed to squeeze us in last minute on a Saturday . Very cozy spot food was absolutely delicious ! Would absolutely return
Atmosphere is amazing. I love the dimmed lights & light pieces on the dinner tables. Staff are amazing & kind. The beet salad and steak & frites are great.
Always love going here. Amazing food, amazing service, mine and my wifes favourite place for date night. Parking: You will find parking on Young Street
Steak and frites : a lot of fries but small portions for the beef -overpriced for 6 pieces short slices. Braised beef : good portions and good value. Duck confit is very good. Food : 4/5
This was a really high quality spot for some very rich French dinning. We will definitely be back.
Fabulous spot! Everytime we come it is always awesome. Brussels spectacular. Smash burger second to none. Wait staff attentive. For a small little restaurant always impressive. Hidden gem! Recommend +++
Had a great nice, amazing service, cocktails and food!!!
Safe destination. Never let me down. Best frog legs. Very nice menu
Such a disappointment. The appetizers are average. Their star dish, bouillabaisse, was so poor, that it will shame a shack in Marsella, 3 mussels, 1 shrimp, a pc of unidentified fish, and 3 spoons of broad, served room temperature, not hot. Literally a $3.50 cost and sells for $42.00 Their wine list is shorter than a coffee list at Tim s. And only specified the type of wine ( Rioja-Ripasso- etc) not the Bodega, year, nothing. Fortunately the place is inexpensive, other wise we would have complain about the dishes, at that prices, why bother if you are never coming back? Wasted trip to Hamilton, for that? Nope. Staff are attentive and profesional. The atmósfera is of a dinner, not a French Bistro. I just have to guess, they spent some money to put in the reviews I read before we decided to go, it s simply a joke to say, is the best place in Hamilton, it needs a manager who can really kick some butt, and bring iits game up, otherwise they won t last..
This is our 2nd time visiting this amazing establishment, and we were not disappointed. From the atmosphere, to the service, cocktails....and of course the food; simply amazing! These are the bites that you cherish and want to eat slowly; gave me goosebumps. Thanks for an outstanding evening; well be back soon! Cocktails- Lady Mademoiselle Appetizers-Oysters, French Onion Soup, Duck Liver Parfait Mains-Cornish Hen & Waffles, Braised Beef Dessert-Espresso, Chocolate Truffle with Salted Caramel
All around great place with amazing staff and great food
We got a last minute reservation on the Friday after Valentines Day, only available seating was the bar, lots of room and very comfortable stools. We had the Duck Liver Parfait to start, followed by Braised Beef Brisket and the Shrimp and seared Scallops. We literally could no decide which was our favourite. They were all incredible. Attention to detail, especially in the sauces was flawless. We both agreed it was easily the best dinner out we have had in a long time
One of the best restaurants in the GTHA. Classics and modern takes on classics
Excellent service, great food, very friendly atmosphere.
Fantastic vibe. Fantastic food.
Hamiltons treasure restaurant, with stable quality control and fresh ingredients, fully meets expectations
Really nice place with a welcoming staff. The Steak Frites was amazing.
Excellent date night. Great food.
First time visiting Bon Temps, and will definitely return...our dinners were amazing, our server Ryan made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. The menu has so many great options...heirloom salad, crispy frog legs, steak frites, duck and I highly recommend the creme brulee and coffee to finish off a great dining experience..
5 stars all around! Never a disappointed visit to this lovely little gem of a restaurant in Hamilton Food
Perfect place that you are looking for oysters in Hamilton. Nice music and very tasty food. Negroni cocktail is brilliant ! Highly recommended !
Its a great place for special occasion with your family & friends. I really love their cocktails and their seafood pasta (special of the day) Their oysters were on sale on Monday for $2 each, which was nice. Snails were good but a bit overpriced. Desserts were good. However, I would say their Bouillabaisse was not very good. The soup didnt have enough seafood and fish taste in it. With $42, I would expect more seafood and larger quantity. I will still be back here since its still a good restaurant, but I think the restaurant can still have some improvement for some items on their menu.
Bon Temps is a little French restaurant with a really great ambiance. It was really cool that the kitchen was out in the open so that you can see the food being prepared. The service was excellent, even on a busy night (Valentine s Day). Drinks were yummy, but the food was just okay in my opinion. However, I had the vegan options/modifier, and this isn t a vegan restaurant. I d give it another go. This is definitely a spot I d recommend ensuring you have a reservation in advance due to the select seating. Vegan and gluten free options available.
Really enjoyed the food and service. A great place for date night.
Wonderful food and people! Tres bien!
Always love Bon Temps for the intimate atmosphere, personal care shown to patrons, and consistently delicious French food. The wine selection is also a treat. Perfect for date night, friendly catch-up, or chic solo dining.
it mentions brunch but opens at 4pm. BRUNCH is served between 11am-3pm.
Great service here all around. The food is done quick and with care and the service staff has just as much attention care. Just go you wont regret it.
We did the Christmas dinner special as were were flying out at 2 am and didn t want all the chaos in the kitchen home. The meal we received was exceptional. Very happy we chose to go with the pies as as option too. We ve also had a meal at the restaurant recently and let me tell you the food is off de hook simply scrumptious every bite is a delight and I can t wait to go again!! Also the cocktails yum and another reason to go back. What s nice is my daughter could also get non alcoholic mocktails too Dietary restrictions: No problem covering food allergies
Pork. Belly. Poutine. Incredible. Full dining experience was awesome. Yeah the other food was amazing. But go there for this poutine. If you dont like it, Ill eat it. Lol
Brought my daughter here for her 21st birthday, and it did not disappoint. We had the sweet pea poichichade for an app. It was divine. My hubby had the braised beef, I had the duck confit, and my daughter had steak frites. We all tried a bite of each, and all were a 10 for sure. Highly recommend this little gem in Hamilton
Service is amazing, the food tastes good. Definitely coming back. Thank you Bon Temps
I live right across this place and I ve always wanted to check it out but was too lazy, today I finally decided to stop being lazy and omg! above and beyond. From the service to the food and drinks. Everything is so good. 100% recommend.
Took my mom here for Mother s Day brunch, we both ordered the lobster Benedict for $30, coffee and fruit charcuterie platter $18. The tablespoon of lobster on the eggs was canned lobster. For $30 I was expecting some fresh lobster. The platter had 2 pieces of Honeydew 2 pieces of watermelon, a croissant, a few thinly sliced pieces of warm ham, 6 gherkin pickles and whipped butter $18. I had three cups of coffee because it was good. The server came by with a French press I told her the coffee was good she told me it s Tim Hortons we just put it in a French press for serving . What a turnoff! They were offering bottomless Caesars and mimosas for $30. The bartender was dressed like she was a carny running the baseball in the basket game at the carnival. There was a dusty footprint on my moms chair as someone used it as a ladder. I left still hungry spent $120 and had to apologize to my mom for the experience . I will never go back again, I don t expect this place gets many repeat customers. As the saying goes you can put lipstick on a pig but..
Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The pork belly poutine was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.
Amazing place. Date night Thursdays are phenomenal! They have an oyster happy hour from 4-6 that are the freshest, juiciest oysters! Can t forget to mention the 10$ cocktails during happy hour! Have tried the prime rib Sundays as well and it is to die for! Just such an amazing place! The bartenders are so attentive and friendly! One of the places in the Corktown area I just keep going back to! Ps: Danger zone is the best cocktail!!
A small, unassuming restaurant that makes some of the finest items in Hamilton. Theyve got a variety of French classics (frog legs, snail, bouillabaisse...). Overall I had a good item and saw no issues. Id just recommend that they check their spelling on menu items and receipts, as it looks a bit funny to sell a lot of French food with spelling mistakes.
Dined here with 7 people from my family for my daughters graduation dinner. Impeccable and attentive service was first noticed as soon as we were seated for our reservation. The french cuisine cooked in view of the patrons was reminiscent of my honeymoon in Paris, France; a quaint casual restaurant, run by properly trained chefs, with mouth-watering selections sure to please every palette! I recommend the half price oysters on Monday for a light meal with friends or family! Dessets are everything you want in a sweet finish; rich, creamy, and not too sweet, the pot du crème au chocolate (a thicker, more rich version of pudding) or traditional crème brûlée are highly recommended!
My husband and I had an amazing evening at Bon Temps! Both the food and cocktails were absolutely wonderful as was the service. We will definitely be back!
Very delicious
Hands down one of the best restaurants I ve been to in the southern Ontario! The food is beyond amazing - all out appetizers were great, especially the duck liver pate. The trout and braised beef were so full of flavour. And the crème brûlée was a lovely light finish to the meal along with great coffee. The service was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is open and welcoming and you can watch you meal being prepared in the kitchen. The cocktail list offers loads of options and they have a really good alcohol free selection as well. Can t wait to go back! Parking: Across the road- 1 minute walk to restaurant.
Edited after my original review, the owner had contacted me afterwards and was nothing less than perfect for how the situation went. The owner genuinely cares about each and every customer, and i can assure that this will be allergy friendly upon insistence to your server. Genuinely impressed, for the places I have gone and had allergic reactions, none have called me to genuinely ask how I was, it makes all the difference. As for the environment, and quality of food, nothing less than top notch. Every bite, every sip, every oyster, is delicious and is somehow even better than memory each time you eat there. The best restaurant in Hamilton, hands down.
the food is 5 star, amazing!!!! i had the duck, my partner had the pork!!!!!!!! everything was sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! butttt the portion sizes are so tiny, we had to buy some snacks after. if there was more food on the plate would have put 11 stars if i could
Outstanding dining experience. Outstanding food, beautiful restaurant and great service. Bon Temps is full of passion on all fronts. Its an exquisite restaurant, and a perfect place to have a flawless experience with a very special date. 10/10 without a doubt and I will be back.
Very cozy place, with live music and friendly staff.
Loved it. Food was fabulous, service was even better. Specialty drinks were delicious. Pricey but definitely worth it. Book a reservation as its quite popular and a small but unique space Food
Amazing food !
Everything great at the highest point
It was an amazing experience there from the service, food, drinks and background music. It was my first time there and Id definitely go back. I highly recommend this spot for an intimate, relaxed night out.
Another amazing dinner at this wonderful neighborhood gem!
Amazing food, every dish we ordered was unbelievable. Staff were super friendly, even the chef was asking if we enjoyed it.
I ate there last night for a friends seventieth birthday. The food was excellent whether it was the appetizers or the entrees. Great ambience, wonderful staff. Will defintintely be going back there!
Excellent place and very nice atmosphere! Best choice!
Amazing experience at bonTemps. The food & drinks were exceptional! The service was on point. Loved every moment! Will definitely recommend and come back!
Highly recommend eating here! Or booking them for an event or party! We booked a party here and Dave and his team were amazing, he was very accommodating all of the food was incredible we had 40 people there and they were all beyond satisfied with the experience. Thanks Dave for making our event so special and amazing!
Amazing overall experience. I loved the quaint and cozy atmosphere and the service was through and exceptional. Probably one of the best old fashions I ve ever experienced! Food
Totally recommend!!!! No complaints at all! For apps we got oysters that were soooooo gooddd and I tried frog legs for the first time and it was not that bad, I would get it again. My partner order the steak and frites and his steak came out cut and omg it was so good alongside with my trout that was delicious. Drinks were awesome too. Would definitely come back again and again and again
Eclectic delights, another Hamilton gem. No need for an expensive dining trip to Toronto when weve got local establishments taking risks to provide unique dining venues for our community. Recommend. Parking: Some free options after 6pm and weekends
Food was delicious, a bit overpriced in my opinion, but nice atmosphere, friendly stuff and good food
I love the intimate atmosphere of this place. I enjoyed both my visits and the food was excellent and fresh each time. Reasonable wine bottle prices too.
I had dinner here recently. The food here is very good. I had the bouillabaisse which was delicious. Service was excellent. This place doesnt look like much from the outside but its a real gem. Id highly recommend this restaurant.
I went with my father for Tapas Tuesday; food and cocktails were delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be returning!
We went for the Tuesday night tapas for my birthday and I loved the food so much. The atmosphere was amazing. The mood and setting was so nice. I would highly recommend
Open concept kitchen. Delicious, affordable and sympatic staff
The servers gave excellent customer service.
Went to Bon Temps last night with my boyfriend - we had a lovely dinner experience. Drinks were so good, food was amazing. We will definitely be back!
Cozy restaurant with amazing food and excellent service. We were also surprised to receive a complimentary dessert for the wait, but I have to say we weren t bothered at all by the time anything took. Will 100% return.
Good food , nice place !
Quite possibly one of the best meals Ive ever eaten. Had the scallops as an appetizer and the duck as a main. I highly recommend both. I have told anyone who will listen to me to give this restaurant a try!
Theres a reason this place is so highly rated. It does NOT disappoint, amazing food and service all around.
Awesome experience, lovely place with excellent bar and menu options. If the Michelin guide visited Canada theyd be on the list.
Very classy but chill in the same place! Music and staff are great. Try the scallops cause the chef cooks them perfectly
Went for a valentine day date. The ambience was cozy with excellent food. Ordered the charcuterie board, duck breast and rib eye, all very delicious! We were even given complementary wine and a thoughtful rose for the occasion! The staff was very thoughtful and even gave a ganache desert on house as their famed creme brulee was not available. Loved watching the food being cooked given the open kitchen. Would highly recommend this place for food and ambience.
We had a great time here. The food was excellent and the cocktails were also great. We had the lobster wontons, the Brussels, the charcuterie and the venison pie. We will be back again for sure!
Amazing food good stuff amazing experience
Amazing food and atmosphere
We only got take out here but the inside is very cute! Open concept kitchen with a cozy interior. I felt like the branding was a little confusing/mishmash since it serves up French food, has a bar that felt very American (think whiskey/bourbon speakeasy type feel). The frog legs were great! Probably the most exciting and delicious appetizers I ve had in a while. It came with a creamy dipping sauce with chunks of blue cheese. We also got the duck confit cassoulet which was mouth-watering as well. Very tender and hearty. My only regret here is not living any closer to be able to get food here more often!
Delicious experience
Amazing menu!
Excellent food and atmosphere. I have been here twice and the food is incredible. The lobster wonton and popcorn mac and cheese were perfect as was the cassoulet with duck confit and venison bourguignon en croute. Highly recommend
My meal, duck breast, was out of this world.. 13/10 would recommend
cute little spot, super cozy and great for a date night not many options on the menu, and extremely long wait times, i waited over an hour and honestly the plates kind of look disgusting, i m firm on presentation and this one no good
Bon Temps never fails to impress! The most amazing staff, service, atmosphere and of course food & drinks! Absolutely love everything on the menu! Oysters are always so fresh and delicious, scallops and gnocchi are my two go to s but all of the food is simply fantastic! Thanks for a great experience yet again last night my friends! Cheers!
The duck breast was delicious, the flavours were delicate and light. The overall performance is good, and it is worth visiting again. The wine lists options is less.
Great ambiance and amazing food
The seating (bench by the windows) was sooo uncomfortable it almost ruined our night. The food is amazing though! Especially their vegan options, Im no vegan but i crave that dish everyday.
Wow. Just wow. The frog legs was lightly crispy, so juicy, so flavourful. The lobster wontons was full of lobster on top of cheese fondue, full of flavour. The scallops was cooked to perfection, on top of a sauce with bacon jam The gnocchi was soft and pillowy, it melts in your mouth. It came with fresh shaved truffles shaved on top
Amazing dinner. Chairs are extremely comfy as well.
This restaurant is so cute. Its small and cozy but not claustrophobic. The decor is tasteful, and the menu is delicious. I would have eaten any dish on the menu. Some of my friends go here regularly and have tried many things on their rotating menu and have commented positively about the meals. Apparently, the gnocchi is the best around. Bon Temps has meals that are out of the ordinary, including duck and venison. The drinks are also really tasty. The only downside of this restaurant is the price. If you are looking for something casual and inexpensive, this isnt the place to go. But for a nice night out on the town, its worth it to stop by.
Really awesome Canadian fare celebrated in a French bistro style. Reasonable prices for high quality. Good for dates or a special occasion.
Went here for a birthday dinner. Excellent, attentive and friendly service, a bit cramped for space but in terms of food the mains were absolutely delicious and worth every penny to me personally (especially the duck confit, as good as pretty much anything else Ive eaten). The quality is not entirely consistent (would skip the lobster wontons next time) but definitely a lot more good things. They acknowledged the birthday with a nice little gesture, which was a pleasant surprise. We would definitely return and I think with the right menu picks the price for a couple can be quite reasonable.
Amazing atmosphere!! Cocktails and Dinner were on point. Had a perfect anniversary dinner.
Food was OK but the atmosphere wasnt that great - we were the only ones there.
Amazing experience with my friends
We had an outstanding meal. Steak frites and duck breast with potato croquette, asparagus and ramp purée. Funky environment with great people. A slice of Greenwich Village
Delicious food and friendly helpful staff !! Atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I have never been disappointed by a visit to this total gem in Hamilton. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone who wants their tastebuds tickled !!
After driving by this restaurant for quite some we decided it was time to give it a try, especially since it was my partner s birthday We ordered drinks and received very fresh and hot bread with a herbed butter, delicious! Then we had the Lobster Thermador Wontons. They were sadly disappointing, very awkward to eat and wasn t very seasoned. My partner ordered the Black Cod and he enjoyed it very much. It was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and a wonderful sauce. I had the Steak & Frites and unfortunately they decided to slice it themselves, something I m just not a fan of. The sauce was very tasty, but the shoe string fries were underwhelming at best though the shaved Parmigiana Regianno was delightful. Huge shout out to our server who was attentive and delightful. I want to also thank the restaurant for the surprise decadent chocolate cake served with a candle, what a perfect ending to a wonderful evening!
Shell out for the Black Cod on the Spring menu. Trust me. This place has really gotten their act together since I tried them in the early days.
The service and food were fantastic. The wine was really nice and dry but light. I started with the oysters and the homemade horseradish was delicious. We had a sharing 20 ounce steak. It was too much to eat all in one seating.
You know, this might be the hidden gem of the Hamilton food scene. Hidden on a corner of John and Augusta, this cozy little French restaurant serves exquisite french cuisine and an offering of french wines to sip along with... We had the shareable 20oz steak with garlic mash and vegetables. Cooked to perfection. A cheese sampler and oysters to begin with were superb! Open kitchen to the dining room. Small but stocked bar. A must visit!!!
Excellent food and great atmosphere. Make sure to try the frog legs and lobster wontons!
Went here for the first time last week and it couldnt have been better. The atmosphere, cocktails, and fare exceeded my expectations. The best dining experience in the city. Ill definitely be returning.
We came her for my birthday dinner and was blown away with the food! Cute, cozy place and the service was great! The food was on point, we started with the oysters then had the steak and duck. My expectations were met. The chefs here knew exactly how to cook a perfect duck. I would say this is a definite place to come to if you want to try food that is cooked with passion and love! Ill definitely be back!
Great place for some quality time to eat with loved ones
My husband and I had our family (16 people) for a wedding dinner celebration at Bon Temps and we had such a wonderful experience! It was easy to plan everything with Dave, and the food was delicious. We had charcuterie appetizers, salad, the tofu and lobster wontons. I had the Vegan Vadouvan and my husband had the Parisienne Gnocchi for our main meals it was all delicious. Our guests had a lovely time, and everyone raved about the food for days! It is the perfect spot for a private dinner or a party/celebration of any sort. The space has a great atmosphere, and the staff were so lovely. We can t wait to return! Thank you Dave and your team for such a wonderful experience for us.
Delicious
Very nice duck breast and frog legs.
We always have a dinner here every time we visit home. Great food, excellent service and just the best atmosphere.
Excellent dinner here! After reading the reviews, I decided on this place to surprise my husband on our anniversary. And it did not disappoint at all. Friendly service and the food is right as it should be. Super flavourful well cooked French cuisine. You don t say this place is what it is from the outside at all. Definitely a hidden gem and totally underrated. We loved everything we ordered and left very satisfied and thinking of coming back!
Great food and close to me .
Tunlis invincible French restaurant, I have tried venison and trout in winter, duck breast and New Yorker steak in summer, and every one of them is so perfect. Our duck breast was slightly overcooked, so the chef waived the order directly, and the service attitude was first-rate and helpful.
Added to my list of great Hamilton restaurants. Really good food. Need to return to try some of the other options.
I came to this restaurant in December 2021, I never left a review. But let me tell you, there is not day that goes by that I do not think about the gnocchi I had here. Thank you Bon Temps for ruining all other gnocchi Ive had since. Every time I ordered a gnocchi dish, I compared it to the one you make. This will be the only place I will ever order gnocchi again. Please leave that dish on your menu, forever and ever.
Divine dinner and drinks are even better!
This was our second time here! The menu changes and I love that so much. Something new to try every time! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. We had the duck breast and soft shell crab this time.
Just WOW Very Magnificent!
This restaurant is a hidden gem. Food was amazing as well as our server. I highly recommend it Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for my keto diet
Absolutely incredible meal. Reasonable price for the quality you get. My entire trip was worth it because I came here. Get the duck breast. :)
Amazing! Perfect meal in all aspects! My husband said best martini! We re Foodies, frog legs I don t like but my husband does ..they were outstanding. Everything else was top notch will be back numerous times!
We have an amazing scallops appetizer, the tomato salad (delicious!) and the most amazing trout I ve had in a long time. They make the food right there in front and it s by an amazing chef. I would seriously give 6 stars for the atmosphere, the food and service!
went for a friends bday, i didnt say anything bc i didnt want to make it awkard for him, but I was really disappointed. the wine list was spare, and did not include regions, just nations. When I asked for something to recommend with my meal, she gave me a sample, but did not seem to know what to choose. There was also nothing really exciting on the list. It took way too long to bring the bread, and the bread was medicore. She left a giant bottle of supermarket heinz on top of the bar, and so I had to look at that for the rest of my meal. The butter looked like it was herbed, but none of the herbs really tasted much of anything. The apps and main were disappointing. I started with the frogs legs, but they just treated them like chicken wings; the breading of the frogs legs overpowered the delicate meat. Moving onto a mushroom dish for my main, the rice was under cooked, and it might have a bit of shell left from the egg. The sous vide egg was great, and the rest of the oyster mushrooms were well cooked, but the dish was mostly rice. I had a Negroni for my second drink, and the server walked away before my last question was answered. Lastly, this was not the servers fault, but I am male presenting, but non binary, and i was wearing a nice skirt, and someone at the bar looked me up and down a few times, and then laughed at me--actually laughed at me; not the fault of the resturant, but seriously it did not make me feel welcome. We didnt risk dessert, and for a fairly pricey night out, it was disappointing.
Great restaurant with an even better menu. I was recommended the frog legs (never tried before) and was pleasantly surprised. Would go back 110%
God bon temps is the greatest. Went there with ten people for my bachelor party, service was impeccable. The staff are a ton of fun, the atmosphere in the restaurant is so quaint.
Bon Temps is a gem of a restaurant. The menu is carefully curated to offer a variety of classic French farm to table dishes with seasonal twists. We enjoyed the heirloom salad (beautiful pairing of jalepeno and whipped ricotta), trout, and duck breast. Everything was carefully prepared and artfully seasoned. If you re looking for a new date night spot, celebration venue or just a night off from cooking check it out. Shout out to Dave for ensuring that his diners get the best that Bon Temps has to offer.
The best restaurant in the city. If you havent been; then you must go. And good luck getting a table; ,100% worth the experience. The food is 100/10, staff is 100/10, atmosphere is 1000/10. Perfect spot for a romantic date. A must attend.
Extremely creative seasonal menu, perfectly cooked Parisian food. Went for anniversary and would for sure go again. Recommend making reservation ahead of time.
Food was so amazing, service was exceptional. Plus free entertainment around you due to the area its in.
brilliant menu, fantastic vibe, absolutely will be a go-to for a good night out and any special occasions. the lighting, music, and friendly staff paired perfectly with very well-portioned, delicious food. we shared two apps, each had a main, and shared a dessert and felt perfectly content!
A lovely Hamilton spot, worth the $$ Try the lobster wonton dish, delicious! Thank you to the team for a wonderful service.
This was my first visit to this restaurant. I don t think I will go there again. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu was very small it did not have even half of the dishes they advertise, the food was NOT good. I ve got a 6 ounce steak that was smaller than 4 ounces and it was served with just roasted potatoes no other vegetables or even a salad and the price was over $40. The cheese charcuterie was 6/1oz pieces of cheese with with a couple of homemade jams .the price of $30. The rest of the group got fish and duck not the best. Maybe a different times they have had better food but I will not go back to this restaurant !! the food was not tasty and very expensive. Sorry
very small portion and overpricy
Wonderful dinner, great chef, our server Ryan was welcoming, and made us very comfortable....we will definitely go back again.
Its that place that has bomb food but you can roll up in a hoodie and it doesnt feel weird. Very chill + quality. The vibe is on point.
I loved our dinner here, everything was cooked well and our waitress was kind and very attentive. The duck was some of the best Ive ever had!
Ate here on Saturday the 24th for dinner and ordered the duck breast that came with potato croquette, pickled jalapeno, asparagus, jalapeno puree, and demi glaze. High quality everything and tasted delicious.
Very good cuisine, vol au vent was amazing! Service was charming and helpful
I just came back from a food tour in Montreal and Bon Temps trumped all of the restaurants we went to. The food is Michelin star worthy. My dad and I came in for an early dinner on Saturday before a show and I cant wait to come in for a more full experience. Im hoping they offer a tasting menu. Big thanks to all the staff for an exceptional meal.
Great service, tasty plates. Had the scallops frog legs, steak and pork belly. Everything was seasoned well, good flavour. The fried frog legs just tasted like mini chicken wings, wasn t my fav but scallops were great, steak done perfect medium rare and pork belly sides were very balanced. Service was kind and efficient. Would go again.
Wonderful atmosphere and service very tasty drinks
We had a lovely evening in this cozy little place. The oysters were perfect, our apps and mains were so flavourful -- couldnt ask for anything more. We had the lobster wontons, duck breast, vol au vent and bouillabaisse. Duck breast was the clear winner of the evening. Cant wait to return for the creme brulee! My only complaint was that the vol au vents pastry was soggy by the time I got it from the delicious jus/sauce that it had but it was still a delicious dish and was content with it!
A Slight DISAPPOINTING experience for me. Visited on Oct 23 after seeing great reviews, I had high expectations. Service: The staff did an okay job. I didnt feel particularly welcomed. We made a reservation for the high table (only option available on opentable) and upon arrival I asked if we could sit at the bar, unfortunately they were all spoken for however the lady staff at the bar was not very pleasant to speak to. (Came off as a little rude.) When we asked for a half portion Charcuterie board the staff was accomodating. Throughout the night we had to seek the staff for service as they were not attending to our table regularly. Food came out at a slower pace than I expected. Food: The Menu was priced higher than I expected, given it is located in Hamilton. The prices were comparable to Downtown Torontos Fine Dining options. $4 oysters is certainly priced equivalent to Sofia in Yorkville, $42 Duck Breast I thought the food was good but not amazing, definitely not worth the price. Bon Temps is priced about 30% higher than they should be. Perhaps Hamilton locals are willing to pay the price premium because theres a lack of choice for modern French but this place wont survive in Toronto with this level of quality, service offered at this price. The ventilation was horrible. It is an open kitchen and the fan was not powerful enough to take out the smoke. During out dinner my eyes were tearing from smoke and we came out of the restaurant smelling like food. I think with minor changes they can turn this place around for a better experience. Please replace the kitchen ventilation system to a much powerful one. And always remember that a smile goes a long way. Best wishes.
Found this cute little spot on Trip Advisor . Restaurant totally lives up to the reviews . Luckily , we were there for date night . Had two drinks and four choices . Everything was fabulous ! Service excellent , chefs terrific ! Don t miss this gem !
Good food. Good service. Decent price. Really good surprise. Fresh scallops and perfectly cooked. After second visit. Disappointed, duck over cooked, vegetables undercooked. Pretty pricey for what it was. From 5 to 4 stars.
My wife and I went for our 4 year wedding anniversary, and I can confidently say that this is the best fancy restaurant I have been to in a very long time, and possibly the best restaurant we ve been to in Hamilton. Although you pay a premium, the quality and quantity of the food is well, well worth it. Can t wait to go back!
Found this beautiful place while looking for a date night. The reviews were great and so was the food, service, and ambiance. The brisket was softer butter and melted without chewing. Would highly recommend this cozy gem to anyone with class and taste.
Fantastic food and amazing staff. Great cosy little restaurant with good menu choices
Delicious!
Excellent. !! We went Monday night for $2. Oysters. So fresh and tasty. Very pleased. Then ordered frogs legs and Brussels sprouts. Absolutely delicious. A taste bud pleaser. Our friends had the cheese platter. They mentioned the tuxedo cheese was amazing. Dave was extremely generous with his drinks and was a pleasure to meet and be served by. We will definitely return and recommend to family and friends. Tres Bonne!
Had a fantastic night here!! We stumbled across this place and decided to try it out. Its such a cozy little spot. The food was amazing, I even ordered a second portion of the squash and apple dish and got the recipe to try at home! The staff are super nice and brilliant at what they do and the owners are very down to earth aswell. Couldnt recommend enough!! Thanks so much guys!!!
The service is great and the food looks fancy. However, the portions are poor and the taste is not as good as you might expect.
Amazing atmosphere and even better food and staff! The creme brule was the best Ive ever had as well...
Beers are good, cocktails are better and the food is phenomenal. Great atmosphere as well. 10/10 would recommend
Absolutely incredible service & food. I cant wait to go back.
