Modern diner food electrified! Follow us @electricdinerhamont COVID-19 UPDATE: Patio Seating and Indoor seating available!
What a kitschy and camp local Hamilton spot! Went to the Hess village location (be warned, there are two locations so make sure you show up to the right one). It was a lovely birthday dinner and not many diners so felt very private. For vibes, think jetsons meet 1960’s dinner meets a manic pixie dream girl! Plus, free dessert for the bday girl. The food was great, highly reccomend the kimchi fries x
Tried this place for brunch! The latte was warm at best and not hot! The bacon was very overcooked and didn’t really taste like much and the fries were bland! Bread was delicious and so was the salad! Overall it was an okay experience but my experience at the other branch has been better.
Stopped by, spur of the moment (though has been on our list of 'want to try') for dinner. Nice atmosphere inside: think 80s/early 90s. Food portions were good and tasted nice.
We came to try the Novemburger, and it did not disappoint! The Birria Burger is the only thing we want to eat ever again! Pleaseeee add it to the menu!!!! Awesome attentive staff, and fun retro atmosphere. The tequila cesar cured me and was one of the best I've had. That rimmer def wins 1st place! This birria taco loving girl is so obsessed with what you've created. We greatly love smash burgers, and that is just the most perfect combination. We loved that it comes with a birria taco on top! By far the tastiest consomme I've tried. 🤤 We will be back before the month ends, and we will be back forever if you add it to the menu.
The vibes, the food, the people, the space! 5 stars to it all. Electric Diner was on my Hamilton bucket list and I’m so glad to have been able to finally try! I will 100% be coming back. My husband and I were seated at a perfect spot on the patio to enjoy the supercrawl stage. We felt like true VIPS. Seating was comfortable and spacious. We ordered poutine, and the soft pretzels for apps which were both incredible - and great serving sizes. For dinner we enjoyed the spicy Mac and cheese and the classic fried chicken burger. Delightful! We of course tasted local brews: collective arts cider apple cherry cider and ransack the universe. Everything was perfect for our supercrawl experience, and we will definitely be back!
Visited the George St location and had really high hopes for this place while everything was good I was just underwhelmed by the experience. They had a DJ Playing outside while it was nice it was too loud to sit and eat more to get up and dance, so we sat outside on the other side of the patio, but felt we were tucked away from everything. They were hosting a 5 year anniversary party so the staffed seemed very busy and kept apologizing for the wait. I ordered the watermelon sour and we got 2 smash burgers for $5 each (special birthday menu item) would like to see how this location is when they arnt hosting an event. Also bonus they were giving out slices of cake for the anniversary! Thanks for the cake and Happy anniversary🥳
Love the food and atmosphere, but the servers didn't make us feel welcome, despite the prompt service. We were disappointed with the pre-made Mellow Mojito, which cost $8.00 and came in a can. We were not notified that it's come in a can
Amazing weekend brunch! Call ahead to make a reservation, it gets busy. We loved everything about our visit. The food, service and atmosphere were all on point. We can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu.
Fantastic! We came for a birthday brunch and it was exactly what we were hoping for. Food was fantastic, atmosphere upbeat & fun, and the service was great. Unfortunately I didnt take any photos but I would highly recommend the Electric Diner for your next brunch Parking: We paid for parking just off Main St. W and made the short walk to the diner. Stress-free parking while the Christmas market was on and roads closer were blocked off.
It took over 20 minutes to get our oder served. But the food was surprisingly delicious. Made it worth the wait.
Terrible service. I had to go find my server more than twice. Food was good. Too bad about the service Food
Came for Novemburger and HOLY BIRRIA BURGER! It was absolutely delicious. Love that it comes with a little birria taco on top of the bun and that consomee was finger lickin good. If they decided to keep this on their menu, we would definitely be back just for that. The customer service was also excellent. Overall, 10/10 experience. We will be back for the birria!!
Been here a couple times, never impressed but the last will be the last. Came for breakfast, ordered the egg Benedict and my eggs came raw and watery. The server was a little off-putting in the beginning but got friendlier towards the end and did offer to replace the egg. My first impression was a very heavy bleach smell from the restaurant. That was my first red flag and should have listened to that. I will not be returning
This place is awesome! I love the colorful, retro atmosphere. The service was on point and the food to die for (especially their milkshakes)!! I cant wait to go back again!
Weve had mixed experiences here. We love the eggs Benny and that they show dogs on the patio. Unfortunately, the coffee was terrible.
We stopped in for a late night drink, this spot gives such a good vibe and has great service! Will definitely be back to enjoy it some more!
Called George Street location to order a pickup because their online ordering was down. Was told by staff I had to come in and order in person as they dont take phone orders. Not sure when this started have been ordering from there since they opened over the phone when their online service is down, which is often. My only other alternative was to order pick up through Uber or Door Dash and pay extra as the companies charge more than the restaurant.
Here right now. Had a reservation for 11:15, ordered nothing came for an hour. Came cold. Terrible service and forced a gratuity on our two person party. Not worth it, we had to bus our own coffee and table because the waitress was nowhere and the whole establishment was practically empty. Gross! Money grabbers.
The food here is EXCELLENT! (Also this is 100% the same building used in Silent Hill as the Hotel... just saying)
I went here and it seemed very electric as the name says, I had an order of fish and chips that were so strongly seasoned that it put a bitter taste in my mouth. Fish and chips should be lightly seasoned if none at all. It was a heavily seasoned fish with salt with heavily seasoned fries. It was so bitter and salty only dousing it in ketchup was my saviour. Other than that I enjoyed my experience. Our waitress was kind, but often had some sort of gibberish? It was hard to understand her..
Server was extremely rude told me she had no time to make milkshakes then why have them on the menu? Had a real attitude never brought the water tried to save it at the end asking if we were going back outside after no I thought I d pull out a sleeping bag and set up shop in here for the night. Imbecile. Honestly since they first opened food isn t as good as it was why would you want to return to have a miserable person serve you mediocre food.
Very nice staff. Im not sure who our server guy was but he made all the interactions feel more like we were buddies rather than customers which was nice :) we sat upstairs and the lighting was very pink which kinda hurt my eyes lol but its ok. The cauliflower croquette was SOOOOO YUMMMMY I am still thinking about it ohmygosh
Great friendly service and a lovely patio. Highly recommend.
One of the best burgers Ive had in a long time. Almost a double smash budger, the patties were just a little thicker, and not just meaty but crispy as well. Such good texture! And their fruit loop shake is freakishly good! Just make sure you know which one youre meeting your friends at lol (there are two in close proximity to each other - George St. and James)
Super delicious breakfast with brushing was good but the sausage was out of this world. Good coffee and my friend enjoyed his brunch burger. Great little patio.
Food is fresh, and although my skillet wasnt in a skillet and had weird chickpeas (and Im a big fan of chickpeas), I did eat from the rest of it. Service was...not even there? Very clean. I wouldnt ever wait in line for it but it was fine. Zero accessibility.
Dont usually leave reviews but I was VERY disappointed with the George Street location. I called the restaurant a week before the date I wanted to book and told staff that it was a special 65th Birthday for my dad. My parents had to drive 1.5 hours to meet us at the restaurant and this was our first time out together as a family at a restaurant in 2 years since our baby was born. I ordered a cake with the restaurant that they said would be 25 bucks which I was fine with because they said they would write Happy Birthday on it. When we got to the restaurant and sat down we were asked by staff before even ordering if we could hurry and possibly be finished in 30 minutes because they had a big group coming. I told them asking this was unfair because I made my reservation a week ago and we were celebrating a special birthday and that I had even ordered a cake. The staff had given me a look like they had forgot about the cake and we had to wait 20 extra minutes after our breakfast for it to be prepared. When the cake came out it was small, no Happy Birthday on it and when I cut into it, it was FROZEN!! My dad and I tried a few bites and it was also stale The rest of our food was great and the atmosphere was neat but we will never come back because of the huge disappointment in our special family Birthday.
This has quickly become one of my favorites. Really outstanding food and service. Ask for Mike the waiter, hes the best!
Great place!! Love patio trivia on Tuesdays
Food was good. We had the Revenge of the Birds (chicken sandwich) and the Turtle Bowl (crispy artichokes and avocado). Both solid choices. Staff were friendly.
Great advertisement through CHCH News, thought to give it a go. Sadly we did not get a chance to try the food as we had to wait for 1hr 20min. @ James Street, suggest to train your manager better to provide reasonable service or simply be better with you PR.
What a great place for breakfast!
We got a table under the air conditioning. We were very cold, we asked to turn down the air conditioning (not possible) to change tables (not possible despite a half-empty restaurant)
Talk about a hidden gem! Couldnt be happier with the food, decor and pleasure of having the best wait and bartending staff this side of Hamilton! Mike was a great host and ensured we had the best dining experience possible. You could tell the food was made with care and sourced from quality ingredients and I believe locally, too! Typical diner fare with an absolutely delicious twist! Be sure to have the cheeseburger and split your sides between the fries and greens (for just a $1 more!). You wont regret it. The vinegarette actually made me love the kale it was tossed in! Also loved the decor which paid perfect homage to all our 80s favorites from wall art of Jem and the Holograms to a projector playing Back to the Future! Enjoy the awesome cocktails inspired by the 80s from Matthew and you wont be disappointed. He definitely puts on a great show Electric Diner is a perfect spot for family and friends to escape to the 80s that your tastebuds wont regret! 10/10 Cant wait to come back!
$6 for ten fries and $12 for a milkshake that s mostly foam.
Decided to give this place another try (was disappointed the first time), but for the price I do think that the burger deserves a 1 star. Ordered the electric burger, and the patties were so thin, felt like I was eating a piece of cardboard.
My sister and I came here with her kids and we were blown away! The service was great. I can t believe how satisfying the Revenge of the birds sandwich was - it was humongous and more than a meal! My sister got the grilled cheese benny and really enjoyed it, the home fries were very crispy and the basil hollandaise was amazing! Will be returning here for sure.
We asked for the bacon on the side and it came on top, waitress took it back and it came back with the bacon on top of the home fries iinstead of on the side. And the food was not hot, just likely warm . So that tells me that they didnt replace the breakfast, just moved the bacon.
Awful experience. Food was tasteless, Restaurant wasnt clean, staff unprofessional Food
A great place , chill atmosphere amazing service outstanding food !!! Was there for brunch on Sunday and sampled all the brunch items . Amazing!!! Highly recommend this cool little spot . Food : 5/5
I had the cinnamon crunch French toast - not a big fan It tasted a bit burnt but overall the restaurant ambience is nice Food
Second time going and the food was excellent. Service was a bit slow but they were super busy and very friendly. Celebrated my son s birthday with their cake and it was so awesome! Not only did it taste great but the presentation and wow factor was a big hit with our party of 6 and the birthday boy! Prices are reasonable and fish and chips were 2nd best I have ever had. The Axel Foley is delish and the Revenge of Birds and Fried Chicken sandwich were excellent. Shakes were sooo good. Highly recommend.
cute little place with good music, plays 80s movies also which was fun !! just really slow service </3
Great food (Eggs Benny) and good vibes. Service was great and the neighborhood is very cool. Highly recommend.
Love this place. Great food, happy fun staff. Love it
The waiter was indifferent and not really welcoming. No conversation at all..the burger was really well done.. too well done. Overall not really memorable. I will not recommend it to anyone. Food
Told that we had to wait 30-40 mins because of reservations when those reservations aren t meant to show up for 30 to 40 mins. You had over 20 spots to accommodate 2 people. You are after all a diner. I ve eaten here about 3 times now. The first time they completely screwed up my son s order, I had to wait 20 mins to get pancakes. My food ended up cold. Service is mediocre at best. Coffee is terrible. Honestly if you want diner food, avoid this place, it s not worth the 50 bones you ll pay.
Great place. Awesome vintage vibe. Good is above average but well priced.
I almost dont want to leave a good review because part of me wants to keep this place for myself. But my god everything about this place is amazing, from the servers, the music, atmosphere, and the food, the food, and omg the food. I have been here several times now and I always cant wait to return to try something else. So far I have tried the French toast (10/10), the axel Foley burger (11/10), and the avocado toast (13/10). I find myself dreaming about the food on a regular basis. Their drinks are also really good my favorite being the apple cinnamon drink. Out favourite part has to be hands down, Matthew John the bartender. He is amazing, as is the rest of the staff we have interacted with. Ive never not had a good time at Electric Diner and cannot wait to return.
Thank you for the great service, tasty burgers and milkshakes. We really like how the place appears old because of the 80s theme but is actually new and very clean! Highly recommend a dine-in experience
Food was very bland, kind of disappointed. Vibe was on point and staff was super friendly Parking: Best to park down the street, the parking lot beside it is 18$/2h
Hidden gem of a brunch spot in Hamilton. Love the pancakes and the breakfast sandwich!
Music was a little to loud hard to talk other than that was amazing great food !
Great place with great food Don t listen to all the fake reviews on here. Go see for yourself.
The bartenders Matthew and Maggie at The Electric Diner are top-notch! They provide excellent service and really know how to mix up some delicious drinks. Ive always had a great time there. Highly recommend checking it out!
5 stars all around
Me am I fiance When theyre probably a month ago. He found a hair in his burger. They took it away but still only took 15% off of his Burger instead of the whole thing. She still got a $20 tip. Im just Reading someone elses comment on face page. The charge a 18% gratuity Im finding out today. She should have never got a twenty dollar tip. First of all they shouldnt have charged for his hamburger. Im with the 18% tip. I wish I would have read the bill better. She when they got another penny. We will never be back to that place
Terrible service. Had group of elderly and children stand at entry way for 40 minutes for a table that was empty at the time of arrival. Justification was this is our process . Unacceptable service / process Food
Cute little hidden gem. The George street smash burger was delicious! Highly recommend!
I LOVE electric diner. Best food, best people, and the best vibes.
Food was great! Service was lacking a little as we had no coffee refills throughout and had to ask after being there for an hour and a half for refill. Also server never came back with the bill after two hours and clearing our plates and we had to ask another server to grab it for us. Maybe James St would be better service but the food was great.
Amazing food. Amazing drinks. Amazing employees. Best restaurant ever? Best restaurant ever.
Awesome customer service and a great place for all ages!!
Worst brunch I ever ate was at Electric Diner. Breakfast skillet was horrifically bland and missing hot sauce, when I finally got the waitress s attention (no small feat despite sitting directly at the bar) I asked about it and they put in an order for a side of hot sauce that took 15 minutes to arrive. When I got the bill I was shocked to see that they charged me for the hot sauce (listed as house made hot sauce but it tasted like franks) Will never go back. Will never stop warning people to stay away. Vegetarian options: Some veg options just amount to serving half a meal with no substitution protein and no discount. Others involve charging absurd up charges for veg/vegan proteins.
It seems like Electric Diner is trying to hide behind the fun theme and over the top menu, but our experience was unfortunately really disappointing. Eggs benny was overcooked, as was the bacon. Scrambled eggs were oily. Latte was bland. Service was minimal. Quite overpriced. Would not recommend.
Food was really good and tasty
So continuing my search for the best eggs benedict in Hamilton. Unfortunately i think i found the worst eggs benny in Hamilton. So first off i paid for eggs benny where the hell is my sauce was a couple dabs on the side of eggs but thats it. And when it said it comes with hickory sticks. thought hmm wonder what kind of twist they do. But no they just open a bag of chips from the store and dump it on your eggs . Now the service is bad i have never been to a restaurant for breakfast where the waitress does not ask if you want more coffee. Saw her when she brought the food then the bill never asked in between if everything was alright or offer more coffee. They were not busy either. So far the only Restaurant where i didnt leave a tip . To sum it up Dont eat here.
Awesome experience... Throw back to the 90s excellent staff and amazing food with a twist ... A definite new favorite Vegetarian options: So yummy the vegan burger is a must try !
Eclectic diner with vintage memorabilia everywhere. Creative menu and everything is delicious. Friendly service. Great place for party of 4.
I went to the James Street North location today. It s a nice location, staff was welcoming and friendly, and it s a fun vibe. The decor is nice, but it s not wonderfully done and has more potential. The food (we ordered breakfast) was just mediocre - lacking in flavour and portion size was small. The coffee was good. It was served in fun mugs that brought back happy memories.
Dudes never get my order right. How hard is a burger and fries, guys?
12/10!!! Honestly the absolute best diner I have EVER been to! The frites are to die for, the burger was absolutely astounding and don t get me started on the wrap - my god, so filling, so incredible, the staff is super friendly and everything is super retro diner!!! The booths are comfortable, the upstairs has a projector playing classic 80 s films, there s a retro jukebox too! Super cheap/great prices as well!!!
Great food good environment service was okay
Great food, but pretty costly
Had an enjoyable meal with my family. My burger was excellent. Kid-friendliness: Grandchildren enjoyed their meal. Perfect portions for them.
Don t waste your time. Worst restaurant experience we ve had in a while. Food took over an hour (it s a breakfast spot and we were the only ones there for a good 20 minutes). Beverages themselves took 25 minutes and my son didn t even get his milk which was supposed to come with the meal. The manager herself was rude and didn t even apologize after we complained. Her response was the pancakes take 20 minutes to cook. Other tables that came in 15 minutes later got their coffee and meals before us. Only reason why I m giving 2 stars and not 1 is because the food itself was decent when it finally arrived.
Food is amazing with 80 s music & vibe! Love the decorations in the store and all the staffs are very nice.
Went there for 1st time with my son. Im a 70-80s girl. Wow, the food is amazing, and the staff are very nice and polite. Its my new hang out place.
Got the boy george and now Im obsessed
Went here for lunch today - about 2:00 on a Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasnt too busy because I dont like crowded spaces.. I got the electric benny and my wife got the usual. Super fast and friendly service. The decor is adorable, and all from the 80s-90s. Parking was easy - theres a huge parking lot nearby, and its barely a two minute walk with lots to see on the way.
Love the drinks and food. Very healthy and fresh food and cocktails are both locations are good!
Great food. Different which is good. Friendly and professional service. We will definitely be back.
This place had good vibes all around. Food was really good. My cousins had the strawberry pancakes and I had the chicken Sam. Overall had a good experience and loved the aesthetic.
Courtney is awesome!!!
good food, interesting drink menu...business here seems to be strong and its the quality of the food, reasonable prices and great service that brings me and others back. Stoped today for a nice breakfast called The Usual.
Delicious food and lovely atmosphere. It was our first time and we will definitely be back to try the burger.
Dishes are small in quantity but very expensive & if you cant make it to the reservation time they charge $20 per person which is so crazy, food is tasty though
A friend and I ate here on April 30. We arrived at about 2:20. We were seated right away a few minutes later, our server came to take our drink order and then bring us our beverages. About 5-8 minutes after that, we placed our order. Our server did not return to our table again until I noticed that a table next to us (who arrived and placed their order after us) had received their food already. I ordered bacon and eggs and my friend had a scrambled egg bowl. Our server checked on our order and told us it was coming out next. I asked her why the other table got their order before us and she replied with I dont work in the kitchen. At approximately 3pm, she delivered our food and at 3:14, she was asking us if we were ready for the bill (which we had to get reprinted because there was something on there we didnt order). We were both still eating our food. We were not ready for the bill but we were ready to leave the restaurant due to the terrible service. I work in the industry....and can usually read other restaurants quite well. The restaurant from our arrival time until we left was not busy. There were many empty tables and booths. 1. The server likely forgot to put our order in for some time after we placed it. 2. She didnt check to see if we needed any refill on coffee or water or other drink that we had. 3. She didnt take responsibility for the order. 4. She should never have come to bring us our bill while we were still eating. 5. She was, overall, not attentive to her tables. It is too bad that the service from this server was so poor. It seems like a decent place and the food was good. I just cant see myself ever returning her in case we are subjected to the same server or poor service.
Went to all day breakfast today. I ordered the Usual with two eggs, rye toast, two pieces of bacon and coffee. My coffee was Luke warm, my home fries were cold and hard. One actually flew off my plate when I tried to pierce it with my fork. They were definitely made earlier. Eggs and bacon were average. My daughter had The Boy George Sandwich with fries and Apple juice. Her fries were delicious! She said the sandwich was just ok. She didn t eat it all. That says a lot because we were both very hungry. We had to wait a long time to be seated because the tables are upstairs, there was no one working downstairs. The menu did have a good selection of vegan options. Really cute dinner, good service, maybe we just caught them on a bad day.
Slow service, took us over an hour just to get apps. 18% gratuity is included in cost PLUS they expect 20% tip. Meal was subpar, took 3 bites of a grilled cheese that tasted like a 5 year old made it. One star is generous bc the drinks and fries were decent. Go to the OG location on Hess, 10x better than this second location.
Horrible food. Received in speedy time by uber which was fantastic bc I was excited to try burger I heard about. I always order poutine..no way you can mess it up. Well I was wrong. Whole order was FREEZING. Bun was soaked to sogginess from grease and an over abundance of sauce. In the garbage it went. I heated the patti up which tasted good when hot...but smothered in so much of a weird green sauce rest of patty went in garbage too. Dont waste your time on poutine. Soggy paper thin shoestring fries soaked in extremely salty gravy no cheese curds at all. Gave one star as patty wpuld have been pretty good with none of the garbage it was drenched in
I had the extreme pleasure of having lunch on the patio today. The music was 80 s forward and the atmosphere was great. Food was also top shelf and the service was perfection. I will be returning with more friends in a heartbeat!
Great food, great staff, awesome vibes
Very friendly. Thank you staff for making this birthday super special. Got the electric burger with two Patties. Wish there was smaller portions.
Mothers Day Breakfast for 9 people The food was excellent and the best service Ive had in a long time. Thank you for making my Mother s Day fabulous Parking: Across the street is expensive. But lots of side street parking Kid-friendliness: There were many families in the restaurant but you don t realize as it s so big.
Burgers are amazing, fries are bit salty depends how much you love salt, my gf loved it. But I like less salt. Milkshakes delicious. Definitely a spot to try
Had the Axel Foley burger and a small San Marzano tomato soup. One word. Phenomenal.
After waiting for service for 15 minutes, a server took our order after proceeding to ask are you in a hurry multiple times because we asked her if we could place an our order. The same server ,standing 2 feet away from us, then relayed to her colleague that she had to take our order, while rolling her eyes at the hardship we just caused her. Server in question was a blonde girl with glasses Lovely service guys!
The vibe is very fun inside. The service is very fast, and the servers look like they are enjoying their job. I got just a poutine for a small snack and it was huge. Definitely a great place to come back too.
I thought this place might be more aesthetic than tasty but turns out the food is just as lovely as the decor and the staff! We loved the kimchi fries and the staff were very sweet and accommodating for our mini bachelorette dinner, and we found the dinner portions reasonable as well.
Was thrown at first by the establishments crazy colours, but had to try it out! I had the turtle bowl and grapefruit/pineapple mimosas while my mother (who I took out for brunch) had pancakes and bacon - everything was delicious! We received a warm welcome and the very friendly service was cherry on top! Would absolutely recommend stopping in for a quick bite and drink!
What a horribly disappointing experience. On a positive note, the staff were all quite pleasant, and the place had a cool vibe and interesting decor. However, we ordered our food, and our server just... disappeared. An hour later, we still had no food, and no acknowledgement as to where it was or why it was taking so long. We actually had to go find someone and ask where our food was. Eventually it arrived, over an hour after we ordered. The milkshake was awful, easily the worst one Ive ever had, it was actually room temperature, had no strawberry in it, it was like a tepid glass of melted ice cream. We upgraded our side of fries to a poutine for $4, and there were LITERALLY three tiny cheese curds, and a pathetic drizzle of gravy. The burger was decent, the fried chicken sandwich was overcooked/burnt and bland. Unfortunately nobody came by the table to quality-check the food. The music was great though, as was the awesome wallpaper in the bathroom! Not great enough to make us ever go back here though, unfortunately. Save your money, dine elsewhere.
Food was delicious! Enjoyed the patio. Our server was efficient ans friendly. Will definitely go back. Had the Flower Power Benny like the choice of half and half
Did was great, could have used a little more variety other than burgers but was very pleased.
So we stopped by on a Saturday late afternoon to what have seemed to us a half empty place. The lady at the door asked if we had a reservation, we said no. She then proceeded to look something up on her iPad for what must have been 10 minutes. After that she excused herself and went upstairs to look at the tables. It took another 10 minutes for her to do that. The bar in front of us was empty but they did not even bother to offer drinks or snacks while we were waiting. We observed at least 10 seating spaces downstairs at the bar and elsewhere. Once the door lady came back she told us we d need to wait for some 20 more minutes for a table to be cleared. There were just two of us and a baby. I will never go back and will recommend friends visiting Hamilton against going to this place. Don t waist your time! I see the response below. Two things: I do have time stamps that confirm my description of waiting and wasting 27 minutes while we could have been served (meaning we could have been sold items to); and, well, so sad that the ownership does not rise to own. As stated, recommend avoiding, they dont know what theyre doin.
Like, totally 80s decor fer sure. Dude I munched this bodacious burg the Reggie Hammond Burger it was totally tubular! Like whats your damage? Go check it out! Food
Good place to have lunch on the patio on a nice sunny day.
After visiting their other location I was excited to try out the one at Hess Village for Fathers Day. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the service. My wait to even even get my order taken took around 10 mins, when my food arrived it was mildly warm and they forgot to bring the cutlery. After finishing my coffee it was a long wait to ask for a top up and then for it to arrive. I think there should have been anticipation of bringing more staff to work for Fathers Day where the expectations are higher.
Really cool retro vibe and good food.
Amazing food, great service, cool environment.
Meh it was ok wasnt a huge fan
I have been three times, the service has always been slow but the food decent for diner type dishes. Service the last time was awful - not acceptable. I see someone in my party made a very fair review below and the owners have replied with a rude response and they are not being truthful. I rarely give poor reviews unless warranted. Because of the owners response and the service I will not be back.
Awesome place
This used to be a great brunch spot, but not anymore. The service is awful. Maybe with opening a new bigger location they are prioritizing resources for James St. Or maybe they expanded patios too much too quickly. It took 40 minutes just to get coffee and water and longer for tea and chocolate milk. At one point they brought out a big tray of coffee and gave them out, seemingly at random, but we didnt make the cut in spite of the 40 minute wait. It wasnt even at capacity, so unclear what they would even do if it were full. They crammed us onto a tiny table. We asked to use an adjacent one and were told we couldnt, even though they were free the entire time we were there. Sadly, we will not be returning. Food is still good. Response: it was last Sunday (Fathers Day) we were there from about 930-11.
The food was good, however the service was bad. We went on a busy night and expected it to be a longer wait that usual so no issues when we waited 1+ hours to get our food since it s as expected. However, from the beginning the experience was negative. The music upstairs was so loud that the waiter could not hear our orders, despite us requesting it be turned down. We waited 45 mins for drinks and then 2 came out wrong (just a beer and a cranberry soda, no complicated cocktails). We waited another 15 mins for them to be corrected but had to ask twice, and was given very vague and confused responses from our waiter so overall we waited an hour for drinks. The person who made our booking left a very fair and honest review on OpenTable and received a defensive and honestly offensive response from the restaurant accusing her of lying. I will not return and will not recommend this restaurant to any of my Hamilton friends.
AMAzing!
Great Place for a Few Drinks and a Meal, But The Blonde Server needs a Attitude Adjustment. Work locally spent over $150 went to use the washroom was told No for Customers Only. Showed her my recipes from the other day, She still said no. I Wont Be Coming Back. Oh I am a Chef of over 20 years, Not a good move on behalf of Front of House.
Aesthetically pleasing place. The servers seem nice there. Never tried their food as I wasn t able too. I went there with my son and the reason I decided to was cause I didn t see many people in the restaurant. So there was many empty tables I go there to be told that I will have to wait an hour and a half for a table and as I m standing there talking to the guy a couple comes in and talks to a girl beside the guy and she asked if they had a reservation and they said no and they were seated. Don t understand what happened there. Is it not kid friendly, is it a race thing (lol I rarely go to that but it could be a possibility), was there supposed to be a large party coming? I gave them my number to text and cause I did want to try it ever since I seen them doing renos but after a half hour I decided to go back home, and the rest of the night I didn t even get a text from them anyway. Very odd.
I had an amazing brunch experience at this place. The jukebox had an excellent selection of songs that added to the overall ambiance. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to others. Kid-friendliness: My Little cousin loved the pancakes :)!
In a world teeming with culinary possibilities, Electric Diner fell woefully short of its potential during my recent visit. The experience left me desiring more than just sustenance; I yearned for an establishment that exudes professionalism, exemplary service, and exceptional cuisine. Regrettably, my expectations were dashed, and I cannot help but express my profound disappointment. From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was evident that the waitstaffs focus was anything but the satisfaction of their patrons. Engaged in their own self-contained conversations, they appeared oblivious to the diners awaiting attention. This disregard for customer care left me with a distinct sense of being overlooked and undervalued an unfortunate sentiment that tarnished the overall experience. Seeking an alternative to salvage the dining experience, I ventured forth to sample the spicy chicken sandwich a choice that proved to be a disappointing miscalculation. Despite the enticing description on the menu, the sandwich lacked the verve and piquancy that one would expect from a culinary creation of this nature. Instead, I encountered a bland and uninspiring concoction, devoid of any discernible spice, leaving me to ponder the deceptive allure of a menu that fails to deliver on its promises. To illustrate, my white friend was desperately attempting to locate and pinpoint the origin of the spice. To compound matters, when we dared to make a simple request, the servers appeared visibly annoyed and exhibited an unseemly lack of decorum. Their whispers and derisive exchanges, conducted within earshot of patrons, betrayed an appalling lack of respect and professionalism. As paying customers, we deserved better than to be subjected to the disdainful murmurs and disparaging remarks of those entrusted with our dining experience. Regrettably, this pattern of disrespect and disregard seems to extend beyond the front-line staff. Upon perusing the other Google reviews, I was disheartened to discover that the owner of Electric Diner has exhibited a penchant for responding to customer complaints with a dismissive and insolent tone. One response, in particular, stands out an outright endorsement of a dissatisfied customers decision to never return. While it is true that customers may occasionally be in the wrong, it is unequivocally impolite and unprofessional to address ones patrons in such a dismissive and derogatory manner. It is my sincere hope that the management of Electric Diner will recognize the imperative for rectification. The provision of exceptional service necessitates not only addressing the deficiencies in waitstaff beahviour but also fostering an environment where customers are treated with respect and dignity, irrespective of the circumstances. In summary, my intention in writing this review is to convey my profound disappointment with the unprofessional service encountered at Electric Diner. The servers demeaner, combined with the owners disdainful responses to customer complaints, undermine the reputation of the establishment. It is my fervent wish that Electric Diner seizes this opportunity to reflect, instigate change, and foster an atmosphere of respect, understanding, and genuine hospitality. McDonald tops fr. It s giving the Canadian version of Karen s diner ruined our vibe ong All the best
Attended Electric Diner today for a work lunch at the Lister Block location. I had been once before and it was delicious however, this time it was drastically different. I ordered the Flower Power Benny. At first sight I noticed there was no smashed avocado as promised, the home fries were hard and crunchy and tasted as though they had been cooked 4 or 5 times over. I cut into BOTH poached eggs to find over cooked yolks. Not ideal for an eggs benedict dish. I let the waitress know and they offered to bring me two more eggs, but i have a time limit for lunch so declined. They said they could see what they could do. Turns out they only took off 20% on the dish, which is an equivalent to $3-4. I am shocked at the level of customer courtesy. Do better!!! I will not be going back. Disappointing.
Went here with my family for dinner and at first it seemed like a nice restaurant, the art of 80s movies was cool and creative. The restaurant is quite echoey, so a it s a very loud environment. But I get that s out of your control. But you know what is in your control? The food. I ordered the classic fried chicken burger, when I started eating, it was fine, but quite bland, which goes for most of the food there. Everything was fine until I got to the middle of my burger and was greeted by undercooked chicken, they didn t come by until they came to ask about the bill so I couldn t say anything about it, I regret not finding someone to inform about the rubbery uncooked chicken. For food that was under cooked it s quite expensive. Not worth the money. On top of that the chocolate milk my younger sibling ordered was powdery and barely mixed. Maybe you should work on making sure the stuff you make is fully done before giving it to people paying a decent amount of money to eat there. Thanks for making me feel like I have to vomit.
Got breakfast here and honestly for the price I paid I wasn t happy with what I got. Bacon was undercooked eggs was soaked in oil and toast wasn t even toasted. Won t be coming back.
Took a group of 10 for lunch today. Absolutely pathetic service. We sat for over 1 hour and 20 minutes before we got our food. Half of our meals were not even warm once they finally arrived. 3 plates had incorrect items. Servers had zero interest in our table and our needs. Very disappointed.
We sat on the huge outdoor patio and had food and drinks. Food was awesome and they made my girlfriend a virgin cocktail off the menu without even batting an eye. I dipped my French fries in the awesome sauce and it reminded me of Fast Eddies pickle fries. Everything on the menu looked amazing and the server was kind and patient. I will definitely be back, its worth the drive! Kid-friendliness: There was a large group of people with several children and the server suggested a more secluded table for a quieter atmosphere in the larger patio area. It made it feel romantic like we had our own patio.
Food was great and the atmosphere was fun. The services needs improvements. It took way too long to remove our completed plates and get our bill. No servicer came to check on how our food was or even to ask if we needed anything else. It was not busy and there was enough staff. Shame, we enjoyed the food.
Great atmosphere and service. The food was just ok. I had the Revenge of the Birds ( Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Maple-Bacon Jam, Double American Cheese Sauce, Lettuce, Pickles w/Greens ) and it was pretty bland no flavor. Would not order again. I will admit I ate the sandwich. But I kept eating it hoping it would be better but it was not. My boyfriend ate most of the fries. I would be willing to come back because of the vibe. Perhaps next time I will try a regular burger or perhaps the brunch. But not the chicken burger.
Ordered some takeout for the bus, but wish I ate in! Great 80s atmosphere and colors, you can eat outside, at the bar, or the small upstairs area. I ordered their Chicken Mac N Cheese and wasnt disappointed, it was really filling, the breaded chicken was great and the sauce was perfect! Ordered the regular one (not spicy) and it had the right amount of kick but not actually spicy, so I loved it. Will absolutely check out the rest of the menu next time Im here!
Made a reservation for a Monday night, one server working very hard while others were standing around. Food overall was delicious but the American cheese which was on my chicken sandwich was kraft slices, not a fan... everything else was delicious.
amazing concept for a restaurant but could have much better food. great menu with awful execution.. (do not order the nachos) the only menu items that are decent are the burgers and drinks. service is pretty good depending on the staff
Stay away unless you want to be in emergency all night .chicken was completely raw in the middle .food was raw and undercooked!! .. staff literally do nothing And stand around with no care to check on the tables .. this place should have health inspector called ! Also can over hear staff making rude comments about customers this place is a dump !! Stay away
Really enjoyed the food here. Burgers were great and fries were incredible.
We had to wait until after our meal for our drinks because of slow bar service and they were spilt at the bar. Drinks were not very good. Food was good. I had the chicken wrap with kale salad. Music was too loud and the air conditioning was high. It was an okay experience
This place was perfect, my Partner and I had a great experience here
Electric Benny is delicious.
Food is crazily overpriced for the quality. $80 for two sandwiches and one drink, better off going to the mandarin.
From out of town, I came last year and the service wasnt great (waitress cared about taking shots with other patrons rather than tending to us), the food was amazing, so I let it slide. I came back again this summer, a full year later, and it was a huge mistake. The service has got to be some sort of joke. Food didnt justify it this time either. You need to have a serious talk with your employees or find some better staff.
The whole street is so alive . The food is good and nice environment with good service.
This place is adorable, the staff are so incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. Bonus: they gave me a free vegan brownie on my birthday. :)
Great menu, and service. Worth checking out this 90s diner. Kid-friendliness: This was our kids favorite stop to eat in Hamilton. Food : 5/5 |
I m conflicted about my visit here. The place has a great vibe with the lovely if a little random 80s knick knacks and artwork. They even have a projector setup upstairs on which they run (you guessed it) 80s movies. The staff were all very nice and accommodating of our group. But there was an odd laissez faire quality to the service. No one was in a rush to take our order, the food came supremely late even though it didn t feel that busy, no one checked in on us once the meal arrived and no one rushed to get us the bill. It wasn t overly unpleasant or anything but I wonder if that s just part of the vibe they re going for? Seemed strange especially considering there seemed to be a fair bit of staff on duty. The food is wonderfully varied and is presented well and generally good but some of it tasted off. The hash browns, for instance, didn t feel very well cooked and French toast was fried to the point of dryness. The cappuccino (at a hefty 6 bucks, 7 if you use oat milk) seemed very hastily done with clearly too much air foam. Even the drip coffee felt a little burnt (and comes for 4.50). That said the sauces and Benny were great. All that said, I left feeing like the group still had a good time because everyone was so pleasant and the venue is unique. Definitely worth checking out at least once.
This is such a cool spot...wicked atmosphere, solid service, and good food. Would definitely come back next time Im in town
Amazing diner
The food was awesome, as was the setting. Our server was very friendly, if not a little slow, to check in on us
Great food. Awesome atmosphere. Definitely recommend
All around incredible! Such a cute restaurant! I ll definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone and everyone who will listen.
I really enjoyed all of their food options and the interesting aesthetic!
Hidden jem, great food, neon lighting, friendly staff. Cant wait to go back. Food
Was great opened late, had great food. Very attentive staff as well.
Great place to hang out if you want to wait an hour for your food and watch other tables who walked in after you eat and pay the bill before your food even comes. Absolutely clueless servers and an owner/manager who seems very insincere in her apologies. The place is hyped but it s an absolute joke.
Overall a very neat retro diner but the amount of house and fruit flies made the meal not enjoyable. Constantly had to be swatting them away from us
Love this place! Great food, music and service! Would absolutely recommend going - their turtle bowls are fantastic! A must check out when you can!
The cutest diner! Great staff too. Thanks for lunch
Service was great, our server was super nice! Food was okay.
Have the most delicious fried egg on avocado toast- it was absolutely amazing. Only complaint might have been that the service was a little slow and it didnt seem to be very busy.
Had dinner with friends before show at FirstOntario Centre. Very close by and easy walk. Food and service was excellent!! Wheelchair accessibility: Not sure if elevator so assess to upstairs would be difficult. Few stairs to access building
I absolutely love this restaurant! Its a must try! I would go any season! The staff are super friendly and chill, I love multiple options on their food menu especially their mac & cheese, and their cocktails are quite tasty too! My favourite is their pumpkin spice espresso martini! The atmosphere is fun! I feel like Ive gone back in time and experiencing a proper diner experience! Wish they had multiple locations in other parts of the province!
We had a great morning, our server Courtney was fantastic and the food was amazing. Also the staff is very friendly and great vibe. Will be back!! Marcy Kid-friendliness: Caitlin loved colouring
The food here has good texture greatly made nice ladys Kid-friendliness: Very patient Food : 5/5 |
FRIDAY SEPT23 @ 9:35 pm: Waited 10 minutes to be seated, when I approached the waitress she rolled her eyes and with a ticked off tone replied wait, we are busy while there was only a handful of customers at the restaurant. We waited 5 more minutes and then just left. That was our first time and we will never go back.
This place is very superficial. The theme is 1990s, back to the future and vibrant pink. I got the strawberry pancakes, wife got the eggs Benny. The flavors were plain and the portions were not great. It doesnt feel like their is any passion behind their menu items, just what looks flashy on paper.
Very cute diner. The tucked egg sandwich is amazing. The awesome sauce is awesome! Nice patio.
Finally got around to come here for burgers and wasn t disappointed !
First time here, had a burger, accommodated modifications nicely but very high upcharge for the half avocado side (was it organic for $4?). Nice tasting food, could be cooked in better oil though and bit overpriced for the portion/plating and level of hospitality I received... Waitress was disconnected, did the minimum, not warm or engaging..it wasnt busy and I was a single diner. I was located upstairs where no one came around to ask for things. Hostess made a very nice impression so was surprised how cold the service was. All staff could be found sitting & chatting by the kitchen throughout the duration of my visit. I think many people would enjoy this place on the right day and with a better server...but I personally wouldnt return. The staff left a big impression, if im spending $20++tip on a burger for dine in, I would like more genuine hospitality/warmer atmosphere. Cool concept overall for location, but misses the mark for me personally.
Came for dinner & got the fish sandwich and power bowl. The food was good, but not incredible. The environment was cool, but not enough to make me go back.
This is the coolest place!! The atmosphere is perfect!! Its very fun and lively but not overwhelming where you cant talk. The service was very good. Absolutely everything Ive tried on the menu has been amazing! Wonton nachos.... cauliflower croquettes....Mac and cheese ...the tomato soup grilled cheese eggs Benny...all of it...I want more :)
We went with a big party (with reservations) and almost everyone in our group received lukewarm food after a very long wait. My bun was wet, the batter from my chicken was falling off and had burnt bits throughout, and my fries were barely warm. I would have requested another meal however our server never came back until we requested the bills. I told her I was unhappy with the food, I d only had 2 bites of the chicken but ate the fries because I was starving. I would have loved to just order something else and not leave hungry but wasn t given the opportunity. And for a meal that was far less than satisfactory, they only took $3.80 off the bill. All in all a very disappointing experience and I would not consider ever going back.
The service, the coffee, the food: everything was great. The best breakfast in a long time. Discovered by chance.
I had an amazing experience at Electric Dinner! The bar seating on the main floor and dining on the second floor provided a unique atmosphere. The old-school diner feel, complete with classic movies on a projector and a jukebox in the corner, added to the nostalgic charm. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. I cant wait to visit again!
Diner aspirations with lacking substance. Much to look at but not much to chew on. Perhaps too much of an expectation. Great service though but food options, portions, and prices find you wanting.
Came for a family get together and loved the atmosphere here. The food was delicious and the service was prompt. We had a minor complaint about the loudness of the music, and our waitress ensured the volume was turned down. We were so grateful! Oh, and amazing virgin Caesar.
Food was ok. Mostly on the salty side. The milkshakes were good.Service wasn t great. Had to look for our server multiple times. Waited half an hour for the bill even though the place was nearly empty.
Horrible over cooked food. Not as described in the menu. Super disappointed
Such a great place to grab breakfast or a coffee. Come for the 80s, stay for the 80s!
Loved the atmosphere! So 80s and its great. The food was really good and the portions were perfect-not too much and not too little. The service was not ideal...the hostess was great and other servers seemed to be doing their jobs perfect but the one girl serving us was completely vacant in basically every single way. Im going to keep going to the other location instead for better service.
Food was good but service was very slow.
** EDIT to their response: I do think a 1 star review is justified opposed to not fair as I clearly mentioned, that beyond having to PROVE to 2 servers what their menu stated, I was not checked on at all after the food was served, I found the items pricey, took a long time to have the order taken, and the service was nonexistent - 4 reasons beyond the main issue. I would also consider reading how they reply to their low reviews to be an indicator of their service. I had an okay experience at this place. The food was alright, but a bit pricey $7 for a small soup. The service was practically nonexistent; I wasnt checked on at all and it took quite awhile to have my order taken and food come. Noticed the menu indicated bread with the soup, and it took proving it to two servers by referring to their own menu before I got any. They blamed it on a new menu, but it shouldnt have been such a hassle between two people including having the customer show their own menu. I won t be back.
Made a reservation and arrived on time. We were going to a show nearby and had given ourselves an hour plus to eat. We made it very clear to our server that we had to leave by a certain time. Drink orders were taken quickly, and when half the drink orders arrived our food orders were taken. Two drink orders did not show up until we reminded the server. After 1/2 hour we asked about the food order and were told we were next to be served. For 15 minutes we were told we were next, with no food showing up. We then asked for the drink bill as we could no longer wait for the food. We were told it was ready and was being packed up in to go containers. Went to pay, and good was not there. After much acrimony and yelling food arrived and we did pay. One of the bills was incorrect. We were 15 minutes late for our concert. If you cant handle a large group (we were 8), then dont take the reservation. If you take the reservation, let us know if you cant fulfill your side of the bargain. And dont keep telling us lies about when we can expect something. In all fairness, they removed the charge for the gratuity (lol), and one bill got a discount for our trouble. I have no idea if the food is any good as I had to take it home and will reheat later today.
Cute diner. Limited gluten-free options or healthy options thats why I gave it a 2/5. However if you like a homestyle type breakfast, the sour dough option was a hit. I liked that you could order avocado as a side. It is reasonably priced
Long wait, which we were made aware of but food was overrated
Had a great lunch here with the family. Kids meals were $10 and included main, side, drink, and ice cream. Burgers were good. My chicken was just OK, looked liked it had been left in the fryer a bit too long. Staff went above and beyond. Would return to try some of the brunch options. Kid-friendliness: Kids menus. Crayons. Coloring sheets.
One of my favourite places for breakfast lunch or dinner!
