While the restaurant has an amazing, breath taking view of the lake, the food and service was just ok. Ordered the meat platter and it was mainly filled with gyro strips which were cold. The chicken was not juicy, very chewy and dry on the skewers. Maybe it was a busy afternoon, nevertheless the view is just perfect.

My personal experience was great however, not so much for my friends though one friend had ordered a cauliflower soup which was the soup of the day but she got served chicken soup instead. And it wasn t until after I asked our waiter what percentage of cauliflower was in the soup that he admitted that they had to serve my friend chicken soup because they ran out of cauliflower soup. And they didn t apologize to her instead they just provided excuses. Though they took the soup off her bill the experience nonetheless was awful! And another friend was in a hurry to leave and she requested her food to come out promptly. She waited 30 plus minutes and then she said bye to all of us but ended up waiting an additional 20 min by the bar because the staff told her the food was coming out soon. Sad to say she had to leave and never took her meal with her because they took almost an hour and a half to bring her meal. She had chicken souvlaki. I had the Green Goddess salad which was divine. We were out celebrating our cherished friend.

Delicious Greek, Italian and Mediterranean dishes

Based on all the good reviews I was expecting a stellar Greek meal, very disappointed - chicken souvlaki was good, meat was tender but nothing spectacular, potatoes were just roasted not true Greek potatoes - desert was ok. The atmosphere was way too loud, there should be soft surfaces to absorb all the noise in the place as it was difficult to communicate with our party of four. Prices were high ( 4 people only two alcoholic beverages $275) which I would not have minded had the food been better than average.

Great food and the best patio in Hamilton!

This is such a great place! Ive been there twice so far. The food is always very good and great portions. The atmosphere is what is truly incredible about this place though, especially the outside where you can see the beach. Other than the restaurant guests, theres not a lot of noise coming from people walking by. The view of the lake is incredible and makes you feel like youre at a five star resort somewhere in the Caribbean. Love it!

This place is a Gem. I only wish they were able to stay open year round. The staff is excellent and the restaurant is nicely done-up to date but warm colour scheme. The view of the lake is so nice...you can almost feel like you are on holidays(oceanside) Finally went with my hubby and it happened to be the last weekend of their open season. We loved it! We will be returning regularly next year.

Very nice spot for a summer lunch. The patio is well covered from the sun and we came on a day where the weather was great. Staff are friendly and service was good. The food was tasty, a little on the pricier end but it is a nice spot for an occasion. We got the loaded greek fries, the lamb burger, and the fish and chips. All great dishes. Parking: Large public lot but can be very crowded

Very slow service food was cold , coke was flat over all extremely disappointed I will not come back. Very sad it was one of my favorite restaurants

My wife and I finally had a date night after about 3 months of crazy work schedules and wanted to get out. We have been to Barangas many times, and the food is always great and staff fantastic. My go-to is the Lamb Shank as it is a well put together dish. The kitchen was apparently running low of the Shanks on Friday, and our waitress confirmed that they could make the dish. My wifes food came (she ordered her usual chicken) and was as great and plentiful as usual. My order looked great as well. However, once I got into it, there were about 2 or three small bites of Lamb only, only a few vegetables, but tons of sauce. Im not sure if I got the bottom of the pan scooped into a bowl and served up to me, but I could have received more meat on a KFC chicken leg. The amount of vegetables in the dish was also kind of pathetic. After a long few weeks and a frustrating drive to get there, I didnt have the desire or energy to disrupt the good time my wife was having just enjoying getting out for once and having a good meal. So as a request to the kitchen.... if you dont have enough to assemble a proper portioned dish, you could have just said so, and I would have been happy to order something else. 2 entrée, 1 appetizer, 2 drinks, and $140 ish dollars, and what I got was less than $5.00 (food cost) poured into a bowl. We will be back, of course. However, please do better next time.

My family comes here every year and this was my first time. Everything was amazing, the people, the view, the food the management. Alisia, the manager was very sweet and made sure we were happy and comfortable!! The manager made sure our experience was nothing but wonderful. She is very kind and pleasant.

An absolutely amazing location with a great vibe and music, unfortunately it s all overshadowed by the lack lustre service and subpar food. Went there for a Birthday, me and the Birthday boy ordered Lamb Chops medium rare, both dishes can medium well to well done, the server sent it back and we waited 20 minutes for them to bring us new chops that were exactly the same, this time a little closer to well done. 2 ppl got the Lamb Shank signature dish, the both dishes were warm and not hot, as if they were sitting out for a while waiting for pick up. It s an amazing spot but unfortunately the only reason they survive is because of the ambience. Also, the bar service on a busy night is crappy, 40 minutes for a drink from the bar. Not sure how ppl are giving 5 star ratings, is there a different location where they have 5 star food and service??

The Food Is amazing and very delicious with good Price points. However the drinks are too expensive $15-20 per cocktail (toronto pricing). I still recommend going for the Food.

Nice and shady on the patio and a breeze off the lake.

Very nice place. I went there for a drink a few times, but the coffee machine was broken every time I tried to get a cup. If you are not having dinner or lunch there, do not expect to be treated the same way as others who are.

Patio is like being transported to a resort like destination. I like. Such a unique little gem on the lake. Plenty of walking trails around if you need to wait some time for a table. Once you do get a table the atmosphere and views are awesome and the vibe is amazing. Music plays a big role in this. The service was stellar. Order the cheese starter. I forget what it was actually called but it was epic, they come out and set it on fire and it is truly delicious. The portion sizes are outrageously large which is nice for a change. Pastitsio and the a chicken souvlaki are the mains we got and both were good but felt like the presentation could ve been a bit more up to par with the atmosphere haha.

Perfect place to be on a summer day or night. Great view of the lake. Music was fun and not so loud that you couldnt talk. Perfect volume. Server, food and atmosphere were all fantastic. Highly recommend.

Went here yesterday was really busy but the service was really good the food on the other hand was not that great for the price they charge the food came out Luke warm not even hot ! The waitresses and waiters were running back n forth to the kitchen with food in there hands went to a table then apparently took all the plates back into the kitchen it look like a disaster going on and when my food and my kids food came out finally it wasnt even hot wasnt impressed with the food or amount of food you get for adult meals and all 3 of us got adult meals my kids didnt even order off the kids meals cause there wasnt much to choose from so my experience there was not good its more for Adults and the price you pay I rather ate at the keg more food for your buck $$$

Place has a super view next to the beach. Great service and atmosphere. But food is average. And not value for money. 4 star rating is for the service and atmosphere. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly has a kids menu and high chairs.

Beautiful Lakeside eatery.... Mediterranean cuisine. The only negative is they dont allow you to make any substitutions for your meal. Vegetarian options: Not because I am not vegetarian. Parking: Free parking across from the restaurant and down the path.

The rice was undercooked, and when we tried to explain this to the manager, she argued that we should have mentioned it when she first walked by. The gyro was also very dry. After the argument, they only gave a 10% discount on that dish. The food was poor and the management was unhelpful. For a restaurant of this size, serving uncooked rice and then debating with customers about it is unacceptable. I won t be returning its highly overrated and overpriced.

Food was good few years back , quality has gone down this time but it s not bad . but for the view and atmosphere it s top notch . 100% recommend for summer outing , beach is right at the door step , near by volleyball court and playground as well. Good place for a beach trip and dinner .

Visited For lunch today I hadn t been in many years and was happy to see the restaurant was still in beautiful shape. I sat at the bar for lunch and was greeted by three courteous and knowledgeable female bartenders. They made great suggestions and we re friendly to talk to making me feel very welcomed. I had the chicken souvlaki and salad. It was so delicious the food was seasoned well and full of flavour the chicken could have been a little warmer but all and all very good. Was a nice experience and would definitely return.

Barangas On The Beach is hands down the best lakeview restaurant in Hamilton! The views are stunning, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The food options are fantastic, with something for everyone, and the drinks are just as impressive. Whether youre there for a casual meal or a special occasion, the atmosphere is unbeatable. Its become my go-to spot for great food and incredible views. Highly recommend!

We had hoped to sit on the patio as there were a lot of empty tables, but we were told we had to sit inside. Rather disappointed as they do not take reservations so not sure who was getting the outdoor tables. The food was fine, nothing exceptional. Our server was good. Luckily it was a great group so we enjoyed ourselves.

Must visit place on a hot sunny day , great vibe . The patio is Santorini inspired and is right by the beach. The place is expensive and rightfully so. The menu has a lot of options and if you love Greek food then you ll love the place . Gyros and souvlaki are a must try.

Pros - great patio, very pretty in the evening right along the beach with the view of the lake, with table side fire pits. The patio is huge so it was not difficult to get a table on a Sunday august evening. (15 min wait) Hostess was friendly and prompt. Patio server was prompt & friendly. The food was good. Cons - zero Ontario red wines by the glass - only one bottle of Ontario red. Only one Ontario white wine by the glass and one by the bottle - these wines were listed from Canada - (they were from Niagara) why not list them as local and offer a few more Ontario or Niagara wines? Bar Service - we sat at the bar to wait for our outside table - should be a nice experience - bar staff took their time to greet us as they were busy talking to each other - no big deal but a bit annoying to start. My husband ordered a local beer - the bartender left and came back - they were out - he ordered a second local beer - he went away and came back saying it was also not available. a third beer was chosen, $11 (pricey but we re in a nice restaurant so that s ok) but it was served in the can - when my husband hesitated to take it, the bartender said - oh do you want a glass?? And gave a chunky water glass. I had a lychee martini that I was excited for - the lychee syrup was overpowered completely by the orange liquor that was in it. The bartender offered to fix it but it made too sweet and still orange flavored. Very disappointing expensive cocktail. Lastly the bar was dirty when we sat down with a bit of garbage and liquid from the previous patrons - it was never cleaned for us. I hope these items will help staff improve their service for the future!

Saw an ad on IG for this restaurant that was captioned as being the closest Ontario has to a restaurant with a beach on the Mediterranean. Its definitely got atmosphere with large dining spaces capable of hosting large events. While it was a cool evening Barangas has plenty of terrace heaters to capture the steaminess of late August that one does realise on the actual shores of the Mediterranean Sea at this time of late summer. The restaurant was very busy but the friendly, efficient and abundant staff made it look like any other evening, handling it all professionally. Pepper Penne and their Beet Salad were both great choices and satisfying, arriving quickly to the table. A large outdoor canopy protects diners from the elements or one can choose to sit alongside the beachs walking path under umbrellas. Its definitely a popular restaurant and looks as if many select it for a variety of occasions both small and large. Smart casual dress also prevalent. Parking lot across from the restaurant with signed and lighted crosswalk. Restrooms seem to be located only in the basement and anyone with mobility issues should contact Barangas to verify accessibility. $$$

Food is always delicious. Service is great. Atmosphere is very nice. Inability to make reservations most of the time is annoying, as well as having to go down so many stairs to the basement for the bathrooms. The prices are too high. Parking: You might have more luck finding parking by Hutchs on the Beach & walking the path to the restaurant.

Amazing portions, beautiful ambience, awesome service! We went there to celebrate a birthday and all our guests really appreciated the choice of restaurant. Try and get an outdoor seat if possible for views of the lake, but you cant do that if your group is big. One would expect the cocktails to be great but the mocktails were also good. Vegetarian options: Veggie platter was well presented

Overall, we had a very bad experience. We took our aunt for her birthday. There was 11 of us. 1. When we sat down we had to wait for about 20mins before we were served. 2. We asked another waiter for a drink menu. He said sure but never came with one. 3. Once we finally got a drink menu we made sure to order our food right away with the drinks because we had a feeling the food would take a long time which it did. 4. We ordered two appetizers of Calamari and the dip from one of the platters fell. Our waiter said he ll bring one more for us. But never did. 5. Food took about an hour to come. We had two kids with us and they were very hungry. I understand it was busy but a one hour wait still seems a bit excessive. 6. When the food came. They forgot to bring the side salad for me, my aunt and my wife. Also forgot to bring fries for one of my cousins. I mentioned that my wife has a dairy intolerance and they still brought a greek salad covered with cheese and tzatziki sauce. They took it back fortunately and came back with the correct salad. 7. We called ahead and asked would our aunt get a free dessert for her bday. We were told over the phone she would. But our waitress said that free bday desserts were discontinued over a year ago. Only way we could get one is if we all would order a dessert. There was some miscommunication there. He however did apologize for that which we did appreciate. 8. We asked for the bill and it was almost a 45min wait. They started clearing our tables and before we were even able to pay. It was almost like they didn t want to get paid. If you have a large group do not come here. Especially on a Friday or Saturday night. For groups larger than 8 they charge an automatic 18% on the bill which they do not deserve at all. Customer service is on the bottom of their priority list. Since the restaurant is in a nice location by the water they will always have business. So I feel that customer service isn t that important to them. The food is mediocre and extremely overpriced. I expected better quality considering how much they charge. I don t see myself ever coming back here. Horrible experience for a restaurant with a lot of potential.

A phenomenal lakeside experience in Hamilton, if looking for a getaway from the GTA. A family run business (grandmother, daughter, granddaughter) with lakeside patio and stellar food. First time visiting, did the typical (for a Greek) Keftedes and Greek Fries, and after sitting for a healthy time to digest, the Pastitsio (layers of pasta, Beef Ragu, and Bechamel sauce on top). Finished with the awesome giagias (grandmothers) cheesecake and Americano. A truly relaxing, rewarding, and awesome experience with a vibrant atmosphere/vibe the whole time I was there. Strongly recommended if wanting to spend the day outside of the hustle and bustle of the GTA. Looking forward to trying the Braised Lamb Shank next time. September 14th, 2024 (add on) The Braised Lamb Shank was utterly phenomenal. Perfect amount of seasoning/heat, with rice on side. Use tomato based sauce and add 3-4 full spoonfuls to you side rice, and enjoy an amazing, hearty, meal.

I was very impressed with the flavor in the foods. Four of us were there, and all of us had different dishes and all were excellent. Most definitely will be going back in the future.

First time at Barangas and wow it was amazing! The drinks and food were delicious! Juicy mango sangria and Peach Basil sangria are a must try! We started with some Greek fries and calamari, perfect bites to get your taste buds going. Then we shared a meat platter which has enough food for 3/4 people, so we had leftovers. The Greek salad was the perfect side to enjoy with the meat. Will definitely be going back again!

We had the good fortune to go to Barangas after the wedding rehearsal for my daughter and now son-in-law in mid-September. It was perfect. Alisia and her crew had decorated our table and attended to our every need. The food was amazing - best calamari I have had outside of Greece. It was a magical evening. Thank you to the whole team at Barangas. We will be back!

The food here is ok. The service was amazing our server was one of the nicest. The view is amazing and the restaurant itself is really nice and worth checking out, it can be a bit expensive $23 for a cocktail but other than that its pretty good. Food

Loved the location and food and the overall ambience of the restaurant. It was quite busy on saturday evening. Wait time can be 30-40 min if you want a table in the patio.

Enjoyed a delicious Mediterranean style meal on the terrace with a beautiful lakeside view. Service was great and the venue is beautiful, both inside and outside. Washroom are downstairs.

It had been a long time since I last visited. My wife and I joined a couple of relatives there. We had a Great time. The food was excellent, and sitting on the patio allowed us to view the lake.

Ordered calamari, I received a plat with very small fried crumbs of calamari. Lost interest in visiting again. Good view though.

Wonderful dining experience last night on the patio overlooking the lake. Great service from Adrian. Excellent food. Incredible atmosphere. Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids there. One near us celebrating a birthday. Waiter brought a cake and candle and made it special.

I didnt come for the food but it was alright! Want the best server there? Ask for Israel, he knows his drinks, food etc. give em raise!!!!!!

First time at Barangas. We decided to try it out as we took our best friends out for their birthday. Very disappointed in regards to the lack of customer service touch. We told the front reception rep and the server that we there celebrating our best friends birthday thinking they would have brought something out to show their appreciation for us going there and that it was a special day. Unfortunately they didn t do anything and didn t acknowledge their birthday which was upsetting. We spent over $400 last night and the least they could have done was brought something out like a dessert, beverage etc . This is something we have experienced at other such restaurants. Definitely will reconsider our next celebration and go somewhere else.

Barangas has earned every 5 star review. It is clearly run by an effective management team. It was very busy but we were seated quickly. Our server Alec was outstanding, very friendly and attentive. He was very familiar with the menu and made recommendations. He checked on us frequently enough that we never had to look for him but too much that it was overbearing. The food was fantastic, my business partner is Greek and was so impressed with the food. Everything coming out of kitchen going to different tables looked incredible. Highly recommend, ask for Alec he s an absolute pleasure

Barangas as a restaurant is great 100 points great food , but as a party organizer really really bad 0 points . i went to a Latin Party the music really bad , a the sound really bad the band was bad . i purchased 30 tickets and ask for a reservation and they told me first come first serve but when o arrived all spots where reserved so complete disaster , if you don t know to make parties just keep as a great working as a good restaurant . for parties i won t recommended . if you are gonna charge $25 p/p at least try to have a better band and a better sound for the whole party .

I actually havent been there.. my Google location keeps picking it up when Im walking by on the beach Trail but its always busy and everyone looks like theyre having a good time they have an outdoor volleyball court as well for people that are energetic, always smells good walking by

Food and place was overall, fantastic. Our waiter Joseph (if I remember right) was fantastic too. Very polite. I had a great time with my family! Did I mention the food came recently fast? Because it did.

I visited the beach bar on Tuesday evening with my parents for apps and drinks. The food, view and waiter were nice however our experience with the beach bar manager Matthew being rude was incredibly disappointing. My mother ordered a mojito after we got the apps, which came out flat and with no taste. We let the waitress know, so she went back to the bar to check on the issue. She came back around 10-15 mins later and told us that we were right and the soda machine wasnt working which is why the drink was bad. The waiter was nice and offered to refund it or make a new one, but since we were almost done our food and leaving soon we asked for the refund. After asking for the bill, it came with the drink still included, when I mentioned the waitress offered to remove the drink charge, the manager came over and said he doesnt care and hes not removing it, that its not his problem and was extremely rude about the entire situation, especially considering that the waiter already acknowledged the drink was bad due to their machine and she already offered to remove it. Overall, the waitress did everything right however the behaviour and attitude from the beach bar manager, Matthew, was completely rude and unprofessional leaving us with a bad customer service experience.

Excellent cuisine, dream setting. The only downside is that the prices are really high.

I had an amazing experience today with my wife we were served by Josef who was very friendly and knowledgeable with the menu and drink items.

Nice patio and decor. 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered had hair in them. Cutlery and glassware were dirty. Poor attention to detail.It seems the kitchen Staff are kids on summer holidays working for minimum wage.Portions were small and of lower quality compared to other Greek restaurants. Nice place for a drink but wouldnt dare eat here again

Food is actually good atmosphere is great because its the beach after all;management is terrible service is subpar mostly to do with the management and the owner is a complete jerk.

They forgot about us constantly we didn t even order drinks until 30 minutes after being seated. We had to find our server to order every time. The flaming cheese appetizer didn t light on fire so they served it to us cold and hard and said the kitchen staff messed it up. The food is okay nothing notable/super small portions especially for the price. The only good thing was the drinks when they finally arrived after our meals lol. We just wanted to leave so didn t try the dessert. It s unfortunate because it seemed like everyone else received good service, and I ve heard good things however didn t get that experience. We seemed to be seated in the middle of sections so there was constant mix up on who was serving us. This place was on my list to try for a year or two and I m super disappointed with it. The atmosphere is really nice though.

Great food with very large portions

My first time here and it was so good! I will be back, likely for a celebration. The view is amazing, so is the service and food.

Only tried an app and drinks, and was pleased. Views were amazing and the vibes were great. Would recommend, just know its pricey but worth it

Food was horrible, lamb shank is a small piece of meat on a huge bone drenched in sauce, keftedes is five small meatballs on a huge plate full of sauce, so clearly theres a sauce theme going on. Drinks were also horrible, $18 for a cocktail to taste like pure alcohol, honestly i wouldve preferred if it was straight liquor. Not impressed, I would rate 0 stars if i could. Everything overpriced.

Good food and a great view. However the service was rushed and while our waitress was kind, we felt dismissed rather quickly. Would come back for the view!

TLDR: Waited 1.5 hours for a table after being told it would be 25 minutes. Delivered food to the wrong table. Out of various food items and didn t advise in advance of ordering. Spoke with manager and received very inadequate compensation. Our visit to Baranga s today was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. We arrived at 5:45 pm and were seated immediately in a back corner of the patio under a speaker. We asked what the wait would be for a table in a different area and were told 25-30 minutes so we decided to wait. They are supposed to text you when your table is ready, and after 30 minutes I was worried my phone number was wrong. It was, and they corrected it but advised that the table would be another 25 minutes. We waited again, and then checked back at which point we were told that the people at the table they assigned to us have had their takeout containers for the last hour, but they can t really do anything about that. I asked if there was a time limit on tables and they said 2 hours, so I asked if they could give the other patrons a gentle nudge if they had clearly finished their meal and were over the 2 hours. We waited another 25 minutes and checked back in only to find out that our table had been ready for the last 25 minutes (which doesn t make sense) and that they had texted me four times. I didn t receive any messages. After being seated, we ordered appetizers which were sent to the wrong table and attempted to order 2 entrees only to be advised they were completely out of stock. One of the cocktails we ordered was made incorrectly and had to be replaced. This whole experience took 4 hours and after speaking with the manager on duty we were told that we would be taken very good care of . It was extremely disappointing that we were only compensated for the 3 cocktails we ordered and were charged full price for everything else, especially since two members of our dinner party didn t even order drinks. I ve always loved coming to Baranga s and it is definitely a higher price point experience. We will be hesitant to return anytime soon, which is sad because it s one of the best patios in the area.

The food and atmosphere are incredible. We loved the moussaka and the feta cheesecake.

Will not return..Service was terrible and unprofessional. Server named Adrien and Manager were unnecessarily rude. Unfriendly atmosphere. Skip it and go somewhere else!

The vibe

I went here with a few friends and lets just say it was not what I expected. The views are beautiful, however, the service wasnt great. Unfortunately, we were waiting for a while to get our food and drinks and we felt the service was lacking. The veggies with the food didnt seem to be fresh so we left a little disappointed. On top of that, a fruit fly fell into one of our drinks and the waitress didnt offer to get a new glass so overall, not the best experience.

Incredible atmosphere, food is delicious, view is spectacular in the summer. Lovely chandeliers. A favourite of mine.

We enjoyed a good Greek lunch out on the patio overlooking Lake Ontario. Service and food were quite good. Lunch for 2 without alcohol was a bit steep at $120 Food

Barangas on the beach is an amazing spot to relax, lounge, and enjoy a few drinks. I didnt get a chance to stay long as I had to continue back to Toronto but Id love to try a sit-down dinner there sometime. The drinks were incredible and the view of the beach was lovely on a hot summer day. I would highly recommend a visit!

The location by Lake Ontario is fantastic, though parking can be challenging when its busy. The modern restaurant features a pleasant patio and friendly staff. However, the Greek salad wasnt authentic, as it included lettuce. There was no Fix beer available, and my wife s virgin cocktail arrived without any decorations. Additionally, there was no kids menu, or maybe I never saw it.

A gorgeous dinner with a beachside view. Ayva was amazing and recommended good menu items and drinks that my group enjoyed. She was very friendly and helpful and we will definitely be back soon! Vegetarian options: Olives and feta, Spanakopita, Saganaki, Dolmadakia, Bruschetta, Greek Fries, Vegetarian Meatballs, Zucchini Fritters, Several salads and entrees including two pastas

Wonderful location, delicious dishes of Greek influence. When we were there a guitarist played live and with the sound of the waves it created a very romantic ambiance.

Great location on the water. Tasteful decor. Service was excellent. The food was good not great. The pricing didnt match the quantity. Ordered the Gyro plate. Meat was a little dry on a bed of rice with a few potatoes. For $28 I expected way more. Ive had Greek dishes at other area restaurants and the value for what you pay for isnt here. The Greek nachos were a very good app. My guests had the chef burger and said it was a solid burger. The fish and chips were a let down. Looked and tasted like a frozen fish air fried. Although the single fish was big it lacked taste. The server did a good job looking after our group. Overall a good experience but leaving with a $270 dollar bill for 4 suggested more of a fine dining experience which for the price I can get a better experience at a few other locations. Bringing your pricing down would make it a better experience overall. The views of the lake are a nice feature. Parking: There is a lot across the street you use but it may be a challenge to find spots when the beach volleyball is playing

It s absolutely stunning here. Atmosphere is great. The food is good but not the best. I would say a little overpriced for the taste and portion. Service is great. Dante helped us out and was kind. Our drinks was late but other than that, no issues at all. Overall, I would come back to this place.
