Been getting food here for over 7 years now. Always excellent. Usually get the chicken biryani and sag paneer. So far best biryani Ive had amongst many places in Hamilton. Good portions for the price and doesnt cheap out on the amount of meat.

I get takeout here every time I have a tough day. Food is always ready when they say it will be and always tastes better than I remember - which says a lot!! Accidentally placed a wrong order through uber and canceled I Within 5 seconds. They charged me for the entire order. Clearly never made all my items within that 20 seconds so why charge me for it? Ive ordered from here so many times and recommended them to my family. Just lost out on so many future orders because of this. Scammers.

We have been using Shehnai for our Christmas dinner for about 12 years and it has become part of our holiday tradition. The food is wonderful, very flavourful with varying spiciness to meet everyone s preferences. I pick it up the night before and leave it in my car overnight (since it s always cold). It easy to heat and serve on Christmas Day. Thank you. Best Indian takeout in Hamilton!! Combination B platter is the best: fresh soft naan bread, samosas, pakoras, succulent lamb, huge chicken bbq (tandoori), colourful biryani, dessert and so much more! Not greasy. Will take you to flavour town !

$2.5 for stale Nan bread. The food at this restaurant is usually very good. Last couple of times I ve found the bread to be either over done or stale. I ordered 5 Nan last time and they were all hard. I m now frustrated to the point wear i think I ll be trying a different place.

We ordered Biryani from this restaurant after looking at the reviews and after seeing Uber Eats rating. It was our first and last order. I am really surprised to see that who so ever made that dish, had the audacity of calling it as Biryani . It was basic white rice, mixed with some gravy with boiled and separately cooked unflavoured chicken. Chicken has the flavour of pre-cooked chicken that you get from Costco. Rice had absolutely no flavour, taste or fragrance of Biryani. Rice had peas in it. Maybe chef decided to convert peas Pulav into Biryani. Every Biryani recipe talks about making use of fried onions in the chicken marinade and then use it on top for garnish and flavour but for the first time I saw biryani toped with raw onions which makes no sense. BIG NO to this restaurant.

I have only ordered takeout from here and its one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. Palek paneer is the best Ive ever had, not a spinach puree like many other places do.

I would not recommend. I ordered the tandoori chicken, arrived ice cold. Like it had been sitting in a fridge and the cook forgot to put it in a microwave. Also this place takes ages to prepare food, it s not good. Won t be ordering again from here.

Food is always good, reliable and consistent taste. Very convenient location. Sometimes the delivery takes longer than expected but that is fine with me. We usually buy 3 different curries and a biryani with Naan and rice on side and it lasts us three meals each for two people.

The worst biriyani one can ever have. Rice soaked in red tomato sauce that s their version of biriyani - it s a joke ! Avoid this restaurant if you don t want to spoil your palate and the monies period !

Decent food and reasonable prices. I have been a customer of Shehnai restaurant for over 5 years now and they havent disappointed me so far. I suggest you do takeout as compared to dining in. I highly recommend tandoori chicken wings and chicken seekh kabab in appetizers. For main course their chicken birani and shrimp biryani are must try.

I ordered two chicken biriyani today around 7 pm for pick up.The rice was okay, but chicken smells bad, smells like days old. Very rarely I used to eat from there and now I am done with them today.. I wont recommend anyone. Thank you.

Last night was our 2nd time eating at Shehnai. The food was delicious, lots of flavour and reasonably priced. Service was great and food came out quickly. A quick drive to the #westdaletheatre from this location.

No one greeted when we came to the restaurant the body language of the employee was rude. The curries were not we cooked, not authentic Indian food at all, not only were the ingredients wrong but the spices were off too. The kadhai paneer was so sour and tomatoes were uncooked, the veg korma had too much of salt because of which I tasted nothing else. This place is a big NO GO!!!.

We brought home naan and paneer and it tastes so bad! The paneer tastes like ready made sauce and does not taste good. Naan feels like is made from old dough and it smells bad and it has so much of raw flour on it.. I am a student so it hurts that I wasted so much of money on this.. Extremely disappointed!

My husband and I went here for our anniversary. It was an amazing find. The food was amazing. Be always order the dinner for 2 combination A. The only thing we dont like are the dessert options. But were not going there for the dessert. We have gone out of our way to share this place with friends. 100% would recommend. Also, the sag paneer is my favorite.

I was in a pinch and very last minute called in to place an order of biryani for 15-20 people. I thought what I was asking was crazy but the person who answered the phone assured me they d have it done and ready in only 20 minutes. Sure enough it was ready in time and the biryani was DELICIOUS. Beautifully presented and even the medium spice was quite spicy but we love that. I definitely should ve left a bigger tip which I feel bad about but everything from service to the actual food was perfect. Thank you so much again!

The food was generally good. I ordered the lamb Korma and the meat was a little tough. The service was good. If youre in downtown Hamilton, this restaurant is worth the visit.

I ve ordered takeout (Uber eats) twice here, and both times have been great. Everyone I ve met in Hamilton raves about the food, but maybe I m picky. It s been difficult finding an above and beyond restaurant since moving here but this place is delicious. Not super spicy, and I wouldn t mind a little more kick to the food, but Shehnai is still my current favourite restaurant in the city. I ve tried a lot of Indian food (born and raised in Brampton, lived in Toronto for 6 years, and I have friends who are Indian with parents who are amazing cooks), and this restaurant is ranked up there for me. My only negative feedback is the second time I got the garlic naan, it was too charred for my liking. Hopefully I can visit the restaurant one day!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal from Shehnai. Portions were good. Food was super tasty and the perfect comfort food for a chilly evening. I also love getting delivery from a restaurant directly so theres no hidden (or extra) fees. Delivery was free so all I has to do was tip the driver.

Really disappointed i Oder butter chicken and panner sag. Saag was like daal there was no palak or saag. Butter chicken was like just gravy no flavour. If i talk about quantity it was like a small bowls. Wasted my 60-70 bucks overall. I won t recommend ..,

This is our go-to Indian place in Hamilton. Full disclosure, I ve only ever gotten take out and I m not an expert in Indian food. With that said, this place is phenomenal. Great chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, saag paneer, and garlic naan. You have to get the bhaji, pakoras, and cucumber yogurt too. 5% of the time the kitchen has an off-day. Well worth the risk though because it s still decent. Generous portions too.
