The Express Restaurant - Italian Eatery in Hamilton

Hit and miss. The grilled vegetable salad was wonderful and well made and delicious. The ravioli were lukewarm throughout and prepared well in advance and not reheated through, were bland and small portion. It was so disappointing for a $28 birthday main. In contrast, the gnocchi showed up piping hot and freshly made. The inconsistency ruined my experience and Ill likely not be back.

Cozy little spot to break some bread with your love ones. Servers are friendly, attentive, and made sure everything is perfect

Service is always friendly and prompt. Food is delicious! We eat here regularly and have never had a negative experience. Vegetarian options: The vegetariana panini is my favourite.

Seating was a little more intimate than I would have liked, unable to have a real conversation with my dining companion since I could hear every detail of our neighbouring tables prostate issues. My companion had to move their chair over to allow the gentleman at the next table space to get out from their seat when leaving. Service was mediocre with our wait staff checking in once at the start of our meal. My companion had to get up and find someone to replenish the water glasses. Regarding the food, I was excited with the menu options but a little disappointed when it hit the taste buds. We ordered the white pizza with potatoes and Fettucine Pesto with chicken. Pizza had no flavour except for the overwhelming cheese. There were no more than 10-12 very, very thin slices of potato (8 slice pizza). I dont mind a thin crust but this was paper thin. The Fettuccine were much worse. Probably cooked twice as long as they should have been and felt like mush after it passed the lips.

didn t want to write a negative review but after seeing a super sassy response to my dining companions review addressing completely valid issues, i m not eager to recommend this spot! the lack of professionalism in that reply makes the very mid experience make sense.

Every meal at The Express is amazing! They have delicious food, gluten free options, and are absolutely hands down my favourite neighbourhood restaurant! Always friendly, accommodating and will go the extra mile to make sure your experience is top notch. I highly recommend that you get over there for lunch or dinner and get yourself a grilled vegetable salad (with chicken if you eat that!)!

Our server Maddie was very diligent with customer service. She was patient with us as we were taking time to order our pizza. She held a friendly description about her university experience. The chicken pesto pizza was delicious. A really good overall experience.

The worst experience ever, I went today with my wife and my son to celebrate our anniversary and had to wait more than one hour for our order, after I asked the waitress and maybe the manager both of them told me will take around 10 or 15 minutes after one hour!!! With the excuse that cause we ordered an starter we had to wait, before us they attended 3 or 4 tables that arrived after us, all our expectations fell down with this place I had to cancel the order and the manager or whoever that woman was said ok .

Not worth it as per prices

I didnt enjoy much about my experience here. The veal parm was overcooked, and the sauce on the pasta side dish was bland, and served so hot that I couldnt eat it for the first 20+ minutes. My partners panzarotti was pretty good when I tried it though. The service was fine. There wasnt much going on in terms of ambiance. Wouldnt really recommend overall.

My husband and I are on the look out for wood oven pizza, and this place claims thats how they cook their pizza but we were disappointed. No wood oven smell on the pizza no light and airy crust, toppings were tasty but crust was not cooked underneath and again where is the wood oven taste smell? Ceasar salad had no flavor, no bacon Needless to say we wont be back

Parking in this area can be difficult, there is no parking designated for this restaurant. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the calzone with sausage. Upon My first bite I discovered what appeared to be a bone. I placed on a side plate and showed it to our server. The owner/chef dismissed the concern as he decided not to talk to us. The meal was tasty but the ingredients should be improved. I would recommend Valentinos as a better option in the area with similar menu and pricing. You will receive better ingredients, customer service. I had a meal several years ago at the location off Barton St and was disappointed. This location was recommended and decided to give it another try. Not sure if it s the same owner but we won t be back.

Visiting The Express was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance was inviting, and the service, particularly from my server Ursula, was outstanding. Ursula went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was exceptional and memorable with her attentiveness and friendly demeanor. The food was perfect; from the delicious pizza to the tasty espresso martini, I couldn t have been more satisfied. The Express truly exceeded my expectations, and I cant wait to return for another great meal.

Food was delicious . I had the char grilled veg salad with chicken on the side. The chicken could have been softer and more succulent but the salad was delicious. We also ordered 2 pizzas and was told they were yummy. The best dish was definitely the dessert. Tiramisu was sooooo good , I wish the quantity was a bit more. Had a bit of limoncello as well with the salad.

Went to The Express Restaurant in Westdale last night! 4 of us had amazing food & drinks! Our waitress was very sweet & made me great espresso Martinis All of us enjoyed all the food that we had. Totally reccomend this place for amazing Italian food!

The food was fantastic. The restaurant is cozy and tastefully decorated. The wine list is a little thin but..... We were a table of 8 and everyone raved about the food. I can vouch for the salmon and chicken pesto pizza. Unfortunately, our server was just awful. Forget a smile, pained and angry was the best we got. It was so awful that the gentleman who recommended the restaurant asked her quietly if she was okay. He was embarrassed that he had recommended the place to us. Just as I was trying to figure out the minimum tip out she would have to make to other staff, she reminded us that all tables of 8 or more automatically had an 18% tip added to the bill. It was not worth the argument. I would still recommend it for the food and location. Hopefully, you will get great service. Parking: Free street parking after 6pm.

We really enjoyed the pepperoni pizza and fetucinni afredo pasta! Customer service was weird though! Our server asked us 5 times if we needed anything way too much, and we got the vibe that she wanted us to pay the bill quickly and leave, which made us uncomfortable!

Lindsay is a wonderful server. She is friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and was willing to answer questions in a friendly, professional manner. She is the my family will be back.

Had a great dinner at Express. I will say, I didn t expect the pizza to be so thin, but it was good. I d recommend getting the pasta dishes over the pizza if you don t love thin crust. Natasha was our server, she was great! :)

It was bad Monday, but express made it the best day of my week! The pizza was moist yet crispy, and the pasta was just like Nonna s. Would recommend every time!

The food was decent. I came last time and I ordered rosé pasta and it was actually really good. This time when I went though, it was busier and I ordered the same thing (rosé penne) when I got my food it seemed as if the sauce though was the spaghetti sauce and not the rosé sauce. Not sure why this happened? Maybe because they were busy?? Wish I got the rosé though cause it was really good last time. Service was really good though. Julia was very sweet and handled everything with care!

Recently ordered as take out and pretty disappointed. 1. Noodles were mushy/over cooked and it s penne so that is a more sturdy noodle 2. Added pancetta for an extra $5 per entree and there were literally 2 small pieces of pancetta 3. Ordered the Caesar salad without croutons croutons and it was literally lettuce with the tiniest sprinkle of Asiago with dressing on the side . For $11. Overall pretty disappointed, but sauce on the rose was delicious! Service gets 5 stars because it was Uber eats!

This is a decent basic Italian restaurant that makes a lot of kid friendly plates. Pizza isn t great though so I d pass on that. One of those places calling their pizza traditional Italian pizza like nobody around here could possibly ever have gone to Italy and experienced what that traditional pizza actually is. Love the tutti carne pizza. Super thin crust, crispy and delicious. Service is always fabulous. We come on a regular basis and have many favorites here. Although not emphasized in their marketing, the desserts are the best!: crème brûlée, cheesecake, cherries jubilee. Love it here?

Very disappointed. The veal was tough and chewy.The whipped butter that came with bread was very small pats that you would get at any fast food.There certainly were not enough for the bread provided. The food was cold even though I came before my pick up time. Very little pasta came with meals Although cold the chicken parm was good.

While my experience dining was just fine (and the service was excellent), I found the gnocchi dish a bit off - doughy and chewy in an unpleasant way. It (or the sausage I added to the gnocchi for an additional fee) eventually led to dreadful food poisoning a few hours later. This was my second poor experience and now I can say that I will not be returning to eat here.

Had a wonderful dinner on October 31st. Our food was delicious and our server Julia was exceptional. We have visited many times and have always enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere.

Pizza is not authentic. Dough needs some help. Not even sure if it was baked in wood oven. It tasted like frozen pizza.

Thumbs down My Daughter has been Craving Italian, we had a ling day, and decided to order delivery, we found this restaurant On uber, and with the great Google reviews decided to give it a try here is our experience: saugy Salad and croutons Maybe it was wet from washing before putting it in the containers, but it was literally saugy Romain lettuce( Brown old lettuce included) with the smallest of Parmigiano sprinkle, and maybe 4 croutons, The Dressing was not anything special either and a very small portion of Lettuce, so definitely over priced.I have seen better Salads Included as sides in cheap restaurants.at least put some pizazz into it...... chicken parm was over priced because it was very underwhelming, the chicken tasted gross( Not fresh) the sauce was Not delicious, it was very bland and bitter. spaghetti with meat balls was not worth the price, it was also underwhelming, meatballs where no different then 10 dollar frozen bin meatballs, and the Sauce was Not Delicious, and was also Bitter, it had a strange texture. I definitely will not waste my money on this Restaurant again.

Never a disappointment at the Express Westdale. The food is always spot on , nice and hot and the service and atmosphere is amazing. Very clean . My favourite comfort food . We had the grilled vegetable salad to start spaghetti, Aglio, olio, carbonara, pasta, and a calzone.. we finished it off with cappuccinos and tiramisu. Thanks for a great evening out !

This place has been a favourite since I moved to Hamilton. Best pasta in town with top-notch service and a comfortable, homey vibe. Our server Amanda was stellar, super helpful and so kind. Overall a 10/10 experience. Give this place your money!
